In a sport where half the drama is on the ice and the other half is on social media, Beyond the Ice Podcast reigns supreme as everyone’s guilty pleasure. Hosted by the faceless Haku—whose snarky critiques of set design and costuming often spiral into comedic gold—this podcast has single-handedly rebooted the skating world’s passion. He’s called out tacky Kiss and Cry aesthetics, analyzed step sequences with nerd-level technical expertise, even aired the ISU’s dirty laundry, unfair scoring and insider information for all to see. Viktor Nikiforov’s name often surfaces with startling frequency. No one’s sure whether Haku’s commentary is love, hero worship, or borderline obsession. It’s in the way his voice changes—almost trembling with excitement or frustration whenever Viktor’s name is mentioned. The most asked questions remain: Who is Haku, why does he know so much about the sport and those specific, small details that only an insider could catch? Could he be an ISU official, a coach, or even a retired competitive skater? Viktor Nikiforov himself starts tuning in—At first, Viktor’s interest seems typical—of course a skater wants to know what the internet’s favorite (and fiercest) critic thinks of him. But something about Haku’s unflinching honesty struck a chord. Their eyes lock, Yuri feeling like he’s staring into a brutally honest reflection of himself. All this time, Otabek has been his mirror, reflecting his fears, his dreams; revealing the parts of himself he wasn’t willing to see, let alone love.

So, the cancellation of Ice Adolescence inspired me to I finally finish my YOI fic The Seven Flowers of Autumn. If you like Victurri, flowers, beaches, blushes, pining, dating, Japanese customs, co-sleeping or sick fics, check it out. It's sweet and canon compliant. i absolutely am obsessed with time travel fics. Cus i just love the idea of ur fav character just traveling to the past and fixing everything.

And i especially absolutely adore time travel in yoi fics. Love the usual time loop and other ones, BUT my absolute favorite has to be where yuuri goes to the past before or somewhere near the time of Sochi (before or after) and just decides "fu(ck) it" or like goes "what monstrosity was I cooking up?? why are my costumes so ugly???"—this one usually happens in fics where he time travels to a really young age.

and i know it's probably not relevant to the time travel aspect BUT it is to ME,,, anyways I love the social media or reactions of the people around yuuri. I mean this is usually a given for me in any time travel ff but with yoi I JUST LOVE IT. like imagine mari or his parents being concerned because "yuuri why are you acting so strangely? wait why are you crying now??" And like "Yuuri, you're spending so much time on the ice."

And now the social media,,, like I love it so much whenever I see snippets of the world around them through social media.. it is very very fun. But with time travel, I absolutely love seeing the fans on (fake)social media be like "who are you guys rooting for" "that yuuri kid has so much potential, a shame blahblah" to the pipeline of them being "HOLY SH(it)?? this kid got some moves"

Unable to believe his own eyes, he removed his sunglasses. There, on the glossy cover, was Yuri Plisetsky. Otabek's breath caught in his throat. Yuri's once long, blonde hair was now cut short, framing his face in a way that made his sharp features even more striking. The suit he wore was tailored to perfection, exuding an air of sophistication and maturity. Draped over his shoulders was the jacket of Team Russia, a bold statement of his identity and pride. He stood there, staring at the cover, his heart pounding in his chest. Yuri looked incredible—more confident and poised than ever. Otabek felt a rush of intense emotions. It was as if time had stopped, and all he could see was Yuri's piercing gaze looking back at him from the magazine. "Are you going to buy it?" Startled, Otabek blinked and looked up. He didn't know how long he stood there, lost in his thoughts, until the cashier's voice broke through the haze. "Yes," he said, his voice firm. "I'll buy all of them." The cashier raised an eyebrow .

I just read "Icebound" and couldn't recommend more!

Loved the descriptions and how giddy (and nervous too) made feel while reading. Also Viktor's method... *wink wink* If you're looking for something to read that follows along the original story but want more spice (and delicious tension) I highly recommend you to read this. Cannot wait to see where the story goes ✨

Now seems as good a time as any to let y'all know that where YOI fan fiction is concerned, my general preference remains for stories that are CANON COMPLIANT. I know what you're thinking - "So vanilla!," but I beg to differ!

When an author allows me to savor the view from above, writhe hungrily from below, sweetly work my way around the outside, and then taste my way inside of an already existing, already delicious story leaving me wanting more, moRE, MORE!! of their new and decidedly non-vanilla, non-plain creation, they deserve all of my gratitude.
