#YupFitness 💪🏼Let's talk about deadlifts! Deadlifts work several muscle groups including the back, glutes and legs. Proper form is extremely important so as to not injure your lower back. " You should have a hip width stance, and your arms should be shoulders width apart. With the bar close to your shins, keep your head up, eyes looking forward, chest out, and back flat. Grab the bar and inhale. Keeping the bar close to the body, exhale as you work to straighten the legs—drive through the heels, not the toes—and bring the weight up past knees. Keep core engaged throughout the entire movement (this helps protect the spine) and finish by thrusting the hips into alignment with the feet and squeezing your glutes. Constricting the butt muscles will complete the hip extension and bring the pelvis to a neutral position." #YupFitness 💪🏼Let's talk about external shoulder rotations! External rotation of the shoulder strengthens the rotator cuff muscles which help to stabilize the shoulder joint. Yup Fitness Model @staceynaito demonstrates the movement above. 1. Grasp the dumbbell with your right or left hand, and keep your elbow pressed firmly to your side. 2. With your upper arm in position, your elbow should be flexed to 90 degrees with your hand reaching across the front of your torso. This will be your starting position. 3. Execute the movement by rotating your arm in a backhand motion, keeping your elbow in place. 4. #YupFitness 💪🏼Let's talk about triceps dips! This is a great exercise as it works all three heads of the triceps muscle at once! Yup Fitness Model @holly_weselowski demonstrates the triceps dip at home using chairs! This can be done using three chairs as shown in the video, or one chair to make it a bit easier. 1. Position two sturdy chairs behind you holding on to the edge with both hands, knuckles pointing forward. 2. Next, place your feet on the chair in front of you and hold yourself up with your arms straight, keeping your body close to the chairs behind you. 3. Slowly lower your body for two counts as you bend your elbows (they should point directly behind you, not out to the sides); straighten your arms for a count of two. *You can modify this exercise to make it easier. Instead, use one chair behind you and feet on the floor.
