Tumblr media
11:30, the grandfather clock in the apartment below yours chimed, startling you and making you mess up your writing. you screwed up the flashcard and threw it in the general direction of the bin. it hit the rim and bounced onto the rug. you outstretched your legs and looked up onto your bed from the floor, your eyes meeting with your boyfriend’s, who had been silently reading one of your study guides.
“is it interesting?” you asked, jokingly, taking in the cover of your psychology book.
“oh, very,” he joked along, “why do they all have the same surnames though?” you furrowed your eyebrows as he referred back to the book, “cooper et al, creese et al, marks et al,” he read.
you smiled, almost laughing but stopping yourself at the last minute, “that’s not their surnames, it means “and others,”” you explained, “it’s just used to show that there’s more people who worked on the study.”
“oh,” he looked back at the book, leaning back against your bed and donning a small but noticeable pout.
collecting all of the cards you’d just written from off of the floor, you asked yunseo “can you test me?” you wafted the flash cards above your head cutely, “pleaseee?”
sitting up again, he took them from your hands and patted the bed, beckoning you to sit opposite him to avoid any cheating. “after this, can we go to bed?”
“yes,” you hurried the boy along with the winding motion of your finger as you were pretty tired too, “you’re wasting time!”
“oh right, yeah, okay, um,” he looked at the flashcard in front of him, something completely different from what he’d just been reading. “oh i know this guy, einstein” he pointed to the card while looking at you with a huge, proud grin on his face. you did not reciprocate. “anyway, what is the photoelectric effect?” he read from the card you made a couple hours ago.
“light causing electrons to be emitted from metal?” you hesitantly answered, your voice shaking.
yunseo’s eyes scanned your lengthy written answer, “i think that’s right,” he put it into the empty space on the bed in front of you both and began reading the second one, “what is the emitted electron called as a result of this?”
“photoelectron.” the answer flew out of your mouth before you’d even had time to think. you held your hand up for a high five.
“good!” he jeered, the back of his hand holding the flash cards hit your palm. “y/n, can you tell me,” you looked him dead in the eyes, concentrating fully, raring to go, “what is a photon?”
“packet of light.”
“a what?”
“particle of light, sorry,” you tapped your closed mouth a few times, as if to punish yourself for picking up your professor's bad habits.
by the time the clock rang 12 bells, you’d managed to work through all of your “nature of light” flash cards, but you could tell yunseo was getting bored and tired of it.
“last one,” yunseo yawned, waving the card in the air sluggishly, “what’s the wave model?”
“the idea that light consists of waves,” you waited for yunseo’s sleepy nod before you cheered, “thank you so much for helping me, if i pass, i owe you.” you stood from your bed and picked up the piles of cards, placing them onto your desk instead. you’d only had your back to him for a couple of moments, but when you turned around, yunseo was already in your bed.
“come here,” as you got close enough, his arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you towards him. they loosened, “you can pay me back now by turning off the light and getting into bed so we can cuddle.”
“i didn’t pass yet,” you pointed out, flicking the switch and climbing into bed with him anyway.
“i already know that you’re going to,” he placed a lazy kiss on your cheek, “i was your teacher, after all.”
you teasingly pushed yunseo away from you, laughing to yourself, but you soon regretted not being in his arms when you watched him fall fast asleep in a matter of seconds.

Evnne x reader when you're on your period please :((
Evnne boys when u are on ur period!
tw: mentions of blood, binge eating, crying
For some reason I think Keita would be the most likely to help you when you get your pants dirty bc of your period. He would be so nice with you giving his jacket to cover the stain, if you are really embarrassed he would try to persuade you to feel better buying your favorite candy! He is such a nice bf :(
Then we have Hanbin who is that boyfriend who is really aware or your period and what you need so he is always prepared. He even has a track app and he is even more aware than you. He would text you smth like “babe, you need pads?” And you would be really confused bc you forgot that he had your period track “yeah but how did u know” “I just checked, dw hon I’m omw”
Next is Jeonghyeon who is literally worried like, he is all handsy, hugging you and doing EVERYTHING for you. Would go to the store to buy pads and call you bc he doesn’t know what you use and don’t want to fail you :( When he gets home you know that he is ready to spoil you the rest of the day cuddling while watching a movie
I think Seungeon is pretty chill abt it he just knows that is your period and know that you may feel physically tired so he decides to simply do whatever you say, even if that means buying too much pizza and chocolate or not going outside for the rest of the week. On the inside he is happy bc he knows that you will need more affection and he’ll be happy to give it.
Lastly Yunseo who is the most caring bf you will find ever! He is really attentive to you and all the sing of pain. During the worst day of cramps you end up crying of pain. Yunseo is really worried but manages to make you take the pill to make it less painful for you :( he is ready to hug you and wipe all your tears

Seungie Tokki
Tumblr media
wc: 2.1k pronouns: none used; n/a warnings: some swearing; lots of fluff; gyuvin, ricky and yunseo large features lol summary: seungeon and bestfriend!reader are obviously in love with each other. will the other '04 yuehuaz be able to finally get them together? ~bp masterlist~ ♡ ~kofi (no pressure at all)~ guys this one is so good lmao. was requested to make a fluffy friends-to-lovers seungeon x reader, but ended up writing iconic comedy quartet '04 yuehuaz instead... luckily, both goals were accomplished so i hope you enjoy :)
"Aw, thank you Seungie!" You coo, taking the little blue and white polka-dotted stuffed bunny from Seungeon's hands. You examine it, turning it around a few times before holding it up to his face. "Doesn't it kind of look like him?"
Gyuvin snorts. "Spitting image."
Seungeon glares at the taller boy, who runs to hide behind Yunseo. "Do you want to die?"
"Now that I think of it," Yunseo poses, smirking as he rubs his chin thoughtfully between two fingers, "isn't it a bit too obvious that you're giving (Y/N) a stuffed animal that looks like you?"
Seungeon blushes furiously and you figure that being falsely accused by his friends of harboring romantic feelings for you for the umpteenth time is as good of a cause as any for embarrassment.
You shake your head. "Come on, guys. Seungeon and I have been friends for years. If he was interested in me, wouldn't you think he'd have done something about it by now?"
"Yeah, you would think; wouldn't you?" Gyuvin replies, stepping out cautiously from behind Yunseo to give Seungeon a pat on the back.
Seungeon sighs. "I'm sorry these idiots followed me along on my walk. I didn't mean to take up your lunch break with their," he narrows his eyes at the two lanky boys beside him. "... Buffoonery."
You laugh, taking a step closer to your friend and pulling him in for a hug. "It's really okay. I'm bored all day here anyway so I really appreciate the company actually. Come back whenever you want!"
Gyuvin and Yunseo grin satisfactorily, the darker-haired boy announcing, "Okay, see you tomorrow!"
"We are not coming back here tomorrow!" Seungeon protests, smacking Yunseo on the arm. "My team is practicing during this time tomorrow."
Gyuvin chuckles. "He didn't say you were invited."
Seungeon rubs his face with his hands in frustration. "That's it. We're leaving now."
"Thanks for coming, Seungie," you say with a smile, checking your phone quickly to see how much time you have left for your lunch break. "Will you come again soon?"
Your friend stares back at you unblinkingly, only nodding slowly at your request.
You swallow nervously, involuntarily biting your lip as you add:
"Good. Cause I miss you."
~
"Cool," Gyuvin mocks to Yunseo as Seungeon trails behind him down the sidewalk. "(Y/N) said 'I miss you' and he replied... 'Cool'."
Seungeon lets out an exasperated cry.
"Not to mention the googly eyes he was making before that," Yunseo adds. "He went from cartoon hearts flying out of his eyes to 'cool'. A tragic overcorrection if I've ever seen one.
"Damn. And he's been acting like this for years and (Y/N) hasn't caught on yet?" Gyuvin shakes his head disbelievingly.
Yunseo laughs. "They're literally made for each other."
"No, we are not! I don't know how many times I have to tell you guys that (Y/N) and I are just friends. Neither of us are harboring secret romantic feelings for each other," Seungeon exclaims annoyedly, catching up to his friends and pushing his way in between them.
"Oh, come on, Seungie," Gyuvin replies, rolling his eyes at the shorter boy. "
"Yeah, we saw you stand there for twenty minutes trying to grab that specific toy and then when you managed to win a different one first, you literally threw it at the kid in line behind you and shouted, 'TAKE IT! JUST TAKE IT!'" Yunseo recounts.
Seungeon shrugs sheepishly. "It was a purple bunny. (Y/N) would never want a purple bunny."
"Now, remind me Yunseo, did he traumatize the kid before or after he put the purple bunny in a chokehold and whispered, 'This one doesn't look anything like me'?" Gyuvin quips, smacking the back of Seungeon's head. "And who the hell doesn't like purple bunnies?"
"OKAY, FINE!" Seungeon relents, rubbing the spot on his head that Gyuvin had hit. "I did want the blue bunny because it looked a bit like me, yes."
"It actually looked eerily like you," Yunseo says, visibly shivering. "Are you sure that thing wasn't cursed?"
"It's not cursed!" Seungeon protests, throwing his arms down in a tiny tantrum. "I would never give something cursed to the love of my--."
Gyuvin and Yunseo's jaws drop as the words accidentally roll off of their friend's tongue. Seungeon's hand flies to cover his mouth as he realizes what he's just said.
"FINALLY!" Gyuvin shouts, stopping dead in his tracks to jump up and down in celebration.
Yunseo grabs Seungeon's shoulders and shakes him excitedly. "HE ADMITS IT!"
Seungeon's head shakes rapidly as he tries to deny the Freudian slip, but his heart sinks as he realizes its too late to take back now. Gyuvin and Yunseo will never let him hear the end of this.
"You have to say something now," Gyuvin pleads, throwing his arm around Seungeon's shoulders as they continue down the street.
"No, I don't," the shorter boy counters, folding his arms across his chest in defense. "There's no way (Y/N) feels the same way."
Yunseo sighs, throwing his head back in exasperation. "Seungeon, please answer me honestly, is your stupidity willful or are you really this blind?"
Seungeon glares back at him. "What are you trying to say?"
"He's trying to say you're a giant idiot!" Gyuvin says, tossing his empty coffee cup in a trash can.
"Not helpful," Seungeon responds with a frown.
"How are we supposed to help, Seungie?" Yunseo asks rhetorically. "You and (Y/N) are so obviously in love witch each other and you refuse to believe it. You are clearly beyond help."
Seungeon's brow furrows confusedly. "You--... You think (Y/N) feels the same way?"
Just then, Seungeon feels his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulls it out to see a message notification from you.
Look, Seungie Saram! Seungie Tokki is alerting me when new customers enter the store from his post on top of the espresso machine. He's doing a good job, don't you think?
Attached is a picture of the little blue and white polka-dotted bunny sitting on top of one of the coffee machines at your shop. Seungeon's phone falls from his hands as he clutches his heart at the adorable sight and Gyuvin lunges to catch it in his freakishly large palm.
After he reads your message and gags, he passes the phone to Yunseo who gags as well.
"That's it," Yunseo announces, tucking the phone back into Seungeon's pocket. "You're going back there tomorrow and you're asking (Y/N) out once and for all."
"You're putting a lot of faith in the hope that he'll make it to tomorrow," Gyuvin quips with a snort, both of the boys turning to look at Seungeon who is miming out a whole conversation with you as the other boys talk. "See? He's going insane as we speak."
"I'll do it," Seungeon exclaims suddenly, an excited grin spreading across his face. "I'll ask (Y/N) out tomorrow!"
"Holy shit," Gyuvin whispers in awe. "We fixed him."
Yunseo laughs, patting Gyuvin on the shoulder. "Now we can work on fixing you."
~
"Seungie!" You greet happily as your friend walks through the door of your coffee shop the next day with his friends again. "I thought you had to practice today?"
"Oh, uh..." Seungeon fumbles, eyes locked on the Seungie Tokki plushy facing the door from the top of the espresso machine. "I bartered my temporary freedom in exchange for bringing my whole team coffee."
You laugh, following his gaze up to the bunny toy. "He's my guard rabbit. Much less expensive than a real security system."
"And much less effective," Gyuvin mumbles, pulling out his wallet. "Can I get an iced Americano?"
"It's (Y/N)'s lunch break!" Seungeon scolds. "I'm already about to order six iced coffees as it is..."
"Then what's four more?" Ricky scoffs. "I'm only here in the first place because you promised to buy me coffee today."
"Good to know your support is entirely dependent on material gain," Seungeon replies with a glare.
"Support?" You ask, head tilting to the side cutely. "Why do you need support?"
All of the boys' heads snap back to you quickly, as if they'd already forgotten that you were standing there.
"Um," Yunseo responds awkwardly, grabbing Ricky and Gyuvin by the backs of their shirts and pulling them towards a booth in the corner of the shop. "We're gonna sit over here."
You sigh, attention returning to your friend. "Your friends get weirder every day."
"Tell me about it," Seungeon agrees, sheepishly scratching the back of his neck. "Sorry to ask you to make all this coffee when you're supposed to be resting."
You shake your head. "Don't worry about it. I'm closing early today anyway since it gets too slow on Tuesday evenings to justify staying open."
"Oh," Seungeon replies, nodding slowly as you make your way back behind your counter and start to prepare the coffee orders. "So are you saying you're free tonight?"
You laugh, holding a cup underneath the espresso machine spout. "Yeah, I am. Why? No way you're not busy. You're always busy now."
You watch as Seungeon's face falls. "I'm sorry," he says sadly. "The show has me on such a tight schedule."
You shake your head. "It's not your fault! I'm proud of you, ya know? I just miss you is all."
Someone coughs loudly from the back booth and Seungeon turns around to glare at his friends for being rowdy.
"Cool," Seungeon replies in the exact same fashion he had the day before. He shakes his head. "No, I mean--."
"He means he misses you too!" Gyuvin shouts.
Seungeon presses his lips together awkardly. "Uh, yeah. That is what I meant."
"No, no. What he actually means is that he really misses you. He spent twenty minutes at a claw machine yesterday trying to win you that ugly ass bunny that looks like him, because he wanted to give you something that reminds you of him," Yunseon explains further.
"Well, I don't think you had to say it was ugly--," Seungeon says but he's interrupted by his blonde friend.
"Seungeon is in love with you," Ricky announces definitively, looking up from his phone only when he doesn't hear anyone reply. As the other boys glare at him, he just shrugs. "What? It's true. Isn't that the whole reason we're here? Right, Seungie?"
Seungeon's head falls to his hands. "What a disaster," he groans, before taking note of your silence and looking back up at you cautiously.
Your eyes are wide as you blink back at your friend. "Is that all true?"
He grimaces, before nodding slowly. "Yeah."
A small smile surfaces on your face as you process the confession. "So, what you're saying is... I can actually bring this bunny home and put it on my bed and not feel weird about it?"
"Oh my god," you hear Gyuvin whisper in awe.
Seungeon's eyebrows raise in shock. "I--... Um... Yes. Yes! Absolutely. Yes, you can totally do that. I would be so honored if--."
"And can you get out of practice tonight for a bit?" You ask, packing the coffees into a cupholder tray. "We can go to dinner and you can tell me how you feel without all of your tall friends' commentary."
Seungeon nods vigorously. "Yes. Yes I'd love to ditch my tall friends and sell my soul to my team to have dinner with you."
The rest of the boys stand up from the booth they're at and make their way to you and Seungeon at the counter. Gyuvin wraps his arm around Seungeon's shoulder.
"He's all grown up now," he says, picking up one of the coffee trays. "Please invite us to the wedding."
"I think Dongyeol will let you out of practice for the sake of love," Yunseo says, picking up another tray. "Just be thankful Park Hanbin isn't your leader this week."
Ricky grabs one of the coffees out of Yunseo's tray and pokes a straw in it right away. "We're gonna fix Gyuvin next, right?"
"Okay, everybody keeps saying that and I just don't understand how you could want to fix perfection," Gyuvin replies, giving you a wave as they shuffle out the door and onto the street-- leaving you alone with Seungeon.
"So, uh," he says, picking up the last coffee tray from the counter. "I'll see you around 8?"
You nod, chewing your cheek to keep yourself from grinning like an idiot. "Yeah. 8 is good."
He nods also, walking toward the door and pushing it open. "Make sure Seungie Tokki gets a premium space on your bed."
"I'll send you a picture," you say, unable to hide your smile now.
He laughs. "Are you trying to kill me?"
"See you later, Seungie," you respond with a wave.
"Can't wait, (Y/N)."

Third Person POV
In the halls of their high school, (Y/n) moved through her senior year surrounded by an inseparable group of friends: Munjung, Yunseo, Leejung, and Gunwook, all seniors like her. What made their friendship unique was the unspoken bond they shared, transcending traditional gender barriers. In recent times, however, a subtle shift has taken place within the group dynamics. Munjung, with his earnest eyes, Yunseo, with his gentle smiles, Leejung, with his thoughtful gestures, and Gunwook, with his intimidating yet caring demeanor, had all begun to harbor feelings for (Y/n). The once-platonic camaraderie now crackled with an undercurrent of unspoken emotions, creating an atmosphere charged with anticipation and unexplored possibilities. Despite this newfound tension, their friendship remained steadfast, navigating the delicate balance between unspoken desires and the unbreakable bonds of friendship that had brought them together in the first place.
In the cozy corner of their favorite coffee shop, (Y/n) sat surrounded by her close-knit group of friends. The atmosphere was warm, filled with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the soft hum of conversation. Munjung, unable to hide his affection, stole glances at (Y/n) as he spoke, "Hey, (Y/n), have you checked out that new movie everyone's talking about? I was thinking maybe we could all go together this weekend."
(Y/n) smiled, unaware of the underlying tension in the air, and replied, "That sounds like a great idea, Munjung! I heard it's really good." Yunseo, trying to mask his own feelings, chimed in, "Yeah, I heard the same. Count me in!" Leejung, always the peacemaker of the group, added, "Perfect, it's a plan then. And maybe we can grab dinner afterward?"
Gunwook, who had been unusually quiet, cleared his throat, his eyes meeting (Y/n)'s briefly before he spoke, "Sounds good to me. Any place you have in mind, (Y/n)?" (Y/n) thought for a moment, feeling the subtle shifts in her friends' dynamics, and said, "How about that new sushi place downtown? I've heard they have amazing food." The others agreed, and as they continued to plan their outing, the unspoken emotions hung in the air, adding a layer of complexity to their seemingly ordinary conversation. Each glance, each word exchanged, carried a weight of unspoken feelings, creating a bittersweet tension that none of them were ready to confront just yet.
As the weekend arrived, the group of friends gathered excitedly outside the local movie theater. There was a palpable energy in the air, a mix of anticipation for the film and the unspoken emotions that lingered between them. Inside the dimly lit theater, they settled into their seats, (Y/n) finding herself between Munjung and Yunseo, with Leejung and Gunwook on the other side. The movie began, but amidst the gripping storyline, stolen glances and subtle touches spoke volumes, capturing the complexity of their evolving relationships.
After the movie, they headed to the downtown sushi restaurant, its warm ambiance providing a backdrop for their shared moments. Laughter and easy conversation flowed as they savored delicious rolls and shared stories. Munjung, unable to contain his feelings any longer, mustered the courage to compliment (Y/n) on her choice of restaurant, his eyes reflecting admiration. Yunseo, noticing Munjung's subtle confession, smiled in support, his own feelings hidden behind a friendly facade. Leejung, perceptive as always, subtly steered the conversation, lightening the atmosphere whenever things seemed to get too intense. Gunwook, though quiet, observed his friends closely, his eyes occasionally meeting (Y/n)'s, revealing depths of unspoken emotions.
Amidst the clinking of chopsticks and the chatter of other diners, their unacknowledged feelings hung in the air like a secret melody, leaving an indelible mark on their friendship. Despite the undercurrent of emotions, the evening ended with smiles and shared jokes, a testament to the strength of their bond. Little did they know, the unspoken words and hidden glances would continue to shape their interactions, adding layers of complexity to their friendship as they navigated the uncharted waters of love and friendship, bound together by the threads of their shared history and genuine affection for one another.
As the days passed, (Y/n) found herself caught in a whirlwind of emotions, her thoughts often drifting back to her close-knit group of friends. The unspoken tension that had been lingering among them became more palpable, and she couldn't ignore the subtle changes in their dynamics. Munjung's genuine compliments, Yunseo's lingering smiles, Leejung's caring gestures, and Gunwook's quiet presence started to evoke feelings within her that she hadn't anticipated.
One evening, as they all sat together at their favorite hangout spot, (Y/n) couldn't help but notice the way Munjung's eyes lit up when he spoke, the warmth in Yunseo's laughter, the gentleness in Leejung's voice, and the depth in Gunwook's gaze. It was in those moments that she realized her feelings were shifting, transcending the boundaries of friendship. The realization hit her like a tidal wave, leaving her both exhilarated and apprehensive.
Confused and unsure how to navigate this newfound territory, (Y/n) found herself replaying their interactions in her mind, searching for clues and signs that mirrored her own emotions. She cherished the camaraderie they shared but couldn't deny the growing affection that was blooming within her heart. The laughter they shared became more precious, and the stolen glances became laden with unspoken meaning.
As the days turned into weeks, (Y/n) found herself torn between treasuring their friendship and exploring the uncharted waters of romance. The complexity of her emotions weighed on her, leaving her contemplative and introspective. She valued her friendship with Munjung, Yunseo, Leejung, and Gunwook deeply, and the fear of changing their dynamics was both thrilling and terrifying. With each passing moment, she grappled with her feelings, unsure of how to approach this new chapter in their relationship. Little did she know, her friends were likely experiencing similar emotions, creating an unspoken connection that bound them even closer, even as they navigated the unsteady path between friendship and love.
(Y/n) decided to spend some quality one-on-one time with her friends to gain a better understanding of her own feelings and perhaps shed some light on their unspoken emotions as well. She started by inviting each of them separately to hang out.
First, it was a day with Munjung. They decided to visit a local park, taking a leisurely walk along the winding paths. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, golden glow on everything. (Y/n) and Munjung shared stories and memories, and as they sat on a bench, he looked at her with a soft smile, confessing, "You know, (Y/n), I really cherish our time together. You're such an amazing person, and I'm lucky to have you as a friend." His words touched her, and as they locked eyes, the unspoken emotions between them became even more evident. She thanked Munjung for his honesty and shared her own feelings of appreciation, hinting at the depth of her emotions.
On another day, (Y/n) hung out with Yunseo. They explored a small art gallery in town, both of them admiring the vibrant colors and intricate designs. As they stood in front of a particularly moving painting, Yunseo turned to her and said, "You know, (Y/n), I see beauty in everything, but there's something about you that's extraordinary." His words caught her off guard, and her heart raced as she realized the depth of his feelings. She reciprocated with a sincere smile, acknowledging the unique connection they shared.
The next hangout was with Leejung. They decided to go to a quiet café, where they sipped coffee and discussed their dreams and ambitions. Leejung looked at her with admiration and confessed, "You've always been so supportive, (Y/n), and I admire your determination. I truly value your friendship." (Y/n) appreciated his kind words and shared her own feelings of respect, not revealing the emotions that lingered beneath the surface.
Finally, (Y/n) spent time with Gunwook. They went for a walk by the beach, the sound of the crashing waves creating a soothing backdrop. In a moment of vulnerability, Gunwook turned to her and said, "There's a certain tranquility in your presence, (Y/n), and I find myself drawn to it." (Y/n) felt her heart skip a beat, realizing that her feelings mirrored his. She offered a warm smile in response, hinting at the connection they shared.
Each individual hangout deepened (Y/n)'s understanding of her own emotions and the unspoken feelings within her group of friends. The uncharted territory of their relationships became a little less uncertain, and the bonds between them grew stronger, as they navigated the fine line between friendship and something more.
After a grueling day of studying, the five friends found themselves on the crowded bus, heading home. The exhaustion weighed heavily on them, their eyelids drooping with fatigue. (Y/n), feeling particularly drained, rested her head on the shoulder of one of her friends. It happened to be Munjung, who was sitting next to her. He noticed her weary state and gently adjusted his position, allowing her to find a comfortable spot on his shoulder.
As the bus rumbled along the familiar route, (Y/n) succumbed to the lull of the motion, her breathing evening out as she slipped into a deep slumber. Munjung, careful not to disturb her, sat still, his gaze alternating between the passing scenery and the peaceful expression on her face. The other friends exchanged knowing glances, understanding the unspoken significance of this simple gesture.
Munjung, with (Y/n) leaning on him, felt a mix of emotions swirling within him – warmth, contentment, and a touch of longing. He dared not move, cherishing the rare intimacy of the moment. The rhythmic hum of the bus and the gentle rise and fall of (Y/n)'s breath created a serene atmosphere, encapsulating them in a bubble of tranquility amidst the busyness of the city.
The bus ride continued, the soft glow of the streetlights casting a gentle ambiance on their faces. In that quiet moment, the unspoken emotions within the group resonated, the uncharted territories of their hearts finding solace in the comfort of friendship. Munjung, feeling an indescribable connection, let (Y/n) rest, silently hoping that the serenity of this night would linger, even as they stepped off the bus and back into the reality of their complicated feelings.
As winter settled in, the library became a refuge for (Y/n) and her friends, a sanctuary of knowledge amidst the chilly air outside. One day, as they delved into their studies, (Y/n) felt the winter cold seeping through the library windows, sending shivers down her spine. Gunwook, always perceptive, noticed her discomfort and wordlessly offered her his jacket.
Grateful for his gesture, (Y/n) draped the jacket around her shoulders, feeling the warmth envelop her like a protective cocoon. Despite the added layer, the library's chill persisted, prompting her to unconsciously inch closer to Gunwook. She nestled beside him, seeking the natural warmth he exuded. Gunwook, understanding her need for comfort, didn't flinch. Instead, he adjusted his position slightly, allowing her to get closer.
As they continued to study, the distance between them diminished further, the shared body heat providing a welcome respite from the winter cold. Gunwook, feeling (Y/n)'s presence beside him, found himself both surprised and comforted by her proximity. They exchanged occasional glances, their eyes meeting in silent understanding, acknowledging the unspoken connection that seemed to intensify in the midst of the winter chill.
In that quiet corner of the library, amidst the hushed whispers of turning pages and the faint hum of the heating system, (Y/n) and Gunwook found solace in each other's presence. The winter outside might have been cold and unforgiving, but within the warmth they shared, there was an undeniable intimacy, a budding affection that seemed to blossom like a winter flower, unexpected yet beautiful, reminding them that even in the coldest of seasons, the heart could find its way to warmth.
"I just can't seem to grasp this concept," she admitted, her breath visible in the chilled air as she pointed at a particularly challenging section of her assignment. Gunwook, his voice soft but confident, replied, "Let me help you with that. See, if you approach it from this angle..." His words were patient and reassuring, guiding her through the complexities of the topic. (Y/n) listened intently, her eyes lighting up with understanding as he explained the intricacies of the assignment. At that moment, their closeness wasn't just physical; it was intellectual, a shared pursuit of knowledge that bridged the gap between them. The library, once a silent witness to their friendship, now held the echoes of their collaborative effort, the unspoken warmth of their connection making the winter's chill seem a world away.
With just about a week until Christmas, the air was filled with a festive buzz, but (Y/n) found herself sitting alone in a park in their neighborhood, the twinkling lights from distant houses casting a soft glow on the snow-covered ground. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice Leejung approaching until he spoke. His concerned voice cut through her reverie, and she looked up, her eyes reflecting a sadness that seemed out of place amidst the holiday cheer. "What are you doing here? It's late," he asked, his voice carrying a mix of worry and genuine care.
(Y/n) sighed, her breath visible in the chilly night air, and replied, "I just needed some time alone. The holidays can be overwhelming, you know?" Leejung nodded in understanding, taking a seat beside her. He offered a small smile, trying to bring some comfort to her troubled heart. "You don't have to face it all alone, you know. We're here for you, always," he said gently, his words carrying the weight of their shared history and unspoken emotions. In that moment, the park, usually a place of play and laughter, became a sanctuary of understanding and support, a testament to the depth of their friendship. As they sat there together, the quiet night enveloped them, offering solace amidst the holiday chaos, reminding (Y/n) that even in her moments of solitude, she was never truly alone.
As (Y/n) confided in Leejung about the recent argument with her parents, her voice trembled slightly in the cold night air. "I don't know, Leejung," she said, her tone heavy with uncertainty. "I just mentioned that I've been feeling conflicted about my sexuality, like I might be asexual or demisexual, and they didn't understand. It turned into this big argument, and I feel like they don't accept me for who I am."
Leejung's expression softened with empathy, and he reached out, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this, (Y/n). Remember, your identity is valid, and you have every right to explore and understand it at your own pace. Your true friends will always accept and support you, no matter what." His words carried a warmth that cut through the cold, offering (Y/n) a glimmer of hope in that vulnerable moment.
In that instant, amidst the darkness of the night, (Y/n) felt a deep sense of gratitude for Leejung's understanding and acceptance. It was a reminder that even in the face of familial misunderstandings, she had friends like him who stood by her side, providing the strength and support she needed to navigate the complexities of her identity. The park, once a place of solace, became a sanctuary of acceptance and friendship, where (Y/n) found comfort in Leejung's unwavering support, reminding her that she was never alone in her journey of self-discovery.
On the 26th of December, the air was filled with a sense of tradition as (Y/n)'s family and Yunseo's family gathered for their annual dinner, a cherished tradition that had endured for 14 years. Normally, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, warm hugs, and the clinking of glasses, but this year, something felt different. Yunseo, perceptive as always, noticed the tension hanging in the air between (Y/n) and her parents.
Throughout the evening, he observed the subtle exchanges – the forced smiles, the strained small talk – and sensed the unspoken emotions that lingered beneath the surface. As he sat across the table from (Y/n), he caught her gaze, her eyes reflecting a mixture of sadness and frustration. It was in that moment that Yunseo realized something significant had transpired, something that had cast a shadow over their usually joyous gathering.
During a lull in the conversation, Yunseo discreetly reached out, placing a reassuring hand on (Y/n)'s, offering her a comforting smile. He understood the weight of family expectations and the complexities of acceptance, and his gesture conveyed a silent message: "I'm here for you." (Y/n) squeezed his hand in gratitude, finding solace in his unwavering support.
In the midst of the holiday cheer and the familiar traditions, Yunseo and (Y/n) shared a silent bond, a reminder that even in the face of familial challenges, their friendship remained a constant source of strength. The dinner might have been marked by tension, but the unspoken solidarity between Yunseo and (Y/n) served as a beacon of reassurance, reminding them both that they were not alone in their struggles, that their chosen family was just as important, if not more so, than their blood ties.
In the quiet hours of the night, the dim light from a bedside lamp cast a soft glow on the faces of Yunseo and (Y/n) as they lay side by side during their mandatory sleepover. Despite the familiarity of the tradition, a palpable tension lingered between them, mirroring the unease from the earlier dinner.
Unable to shake off the thoughts that had troubled him, Yunseo hesitated for a moment before breaking the silence. "Are you awake?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, the weight of unspoken concerns evident in his tone. To his relief, (Y/n) responded softly, "Yes," her voice carrying a mixture of weariness and vulnerability.
(Y/n) then began to recount the argument she had with her parents, her words hanging heavy in the air. She described the pain of not being understood, the frustration of feeling judged for her identity, and the longing for acceptance. Yunseo listened attentively, his eyes reflecting empathy, and he reached out to gently squeeze (Y/n)'s hand in a gesture of solidarity.
As (Y/n) spoke, the room seemed to shrink, enveloping them in a bubble of shared confidence. In that vulnerable moment, (Y/n) found solace in the simple act of opening up to her friend, and Yunseo, in turn, felt honored to be entrusted with her innermost thoughts. The quiet intimacy of the night became a space of mutual understanding, a sanctuary where their friendship deepened amidst the challenges they faced.
As they continued to talk, the darkness outside slowly gave way to the soft light of dawn, marking the passage of time. In the hushed hours of the early morning, (Y/n) and Yunseo found strength in each other's presence, their bond resilient in the face of adversity. The tradition of their sleepovers, once a lighthearted ritual, had now become a testament to the unwavering support they offered each other, a reminder that even in the darkest of nights, their friendship remained a beacon of light.
In the quiet stillness of the early morning, as the weight of their conversation lingered in the air, (Y/n) sleepily whispered, her voice barely audible, "I missed being with you like this." Her words hung in the darkness, carrying a depth of emotion that echoed the unspoken bond between them. In response, Yunseo tightened his embrace, pulling her closer, and enveloping her in a comforting hug.
The room, once filled with tension, was now suffused with an unspoken understanding. In the intimacy of that moment, as they cuddled together, (Y/n) found solace in Yunseo's presence, a familiar warmth that chased away the remnants of her worries. Yunseo, too, cherished the closeness, his heart swelling with affection for his friend.
In the quietude of the dawn, they found comfort in each other's arms, their shared vulnerability forging an even stronger connection between them. It was a moment of raw honesty, a genuine expression of their deep friendship, and amidst the darkness, they discovered a profound lightness in each other's company. Wrapped in the warmth of their embrace, they drifted into a peaceful slumber, their intertwined hearts finding solace in the silent language of their unbreakable bond.
On New Year's Eve, the high school was adorned with twinkling lights and an air of anticipation as the small party commenced. The five friends, (Y/n), Munjung, Yunseo, Leejung, and Gunwook, mingled amidst the festivities. As the clock neared midnight, an unspoken tension hung in the air. Each of the four boys harbored a secret wish - to be the one standing beside (Y/n) when the clock struck twelve, to seize that moment to confess their feelings.
In the final minutes of the year, Munjung, with hopeful eyes, Yunseo, with a gentle smile, Leejung, with a quiet determination, and Gunwook, with a heart full of courage, all vied for (Y/n)'s attention, trying to create the perfect moment to draw her close. As the seconds ticked away, they exchanged quick glances, their expressions a mixture of hope and apprehension. Who would be the one to share that magical moment with (Y/n)?
In the final moments before the clock struck 12, (Y/n) was on a mission. With excitement gleaming in her eyes, she ran around the room, collecting her four closest friends. Amidst laughter and protests, she managed to gather all of them, her determination infectious.
Dragging them along, she led the way outside, where the night sky was about to burst into a kaleidoscope of colors. The anticipation in the air was palpable as they huddled close, watching in awe as the first firework lit up the sky. Their eyes widened in wonder, the vibrant hues reflected in their faces, illuminating the shared joy and camaraderie between them.
Under the dazzling display of fireworks, none of the four boys got the alone time they had secretly yearned for, but in that moment, it didn't matter. The magic of the new year was woven into the shared laughter, the exchanged glances, and the warmth of their friendship. Their unspoken wishes may not have been granted, but they had something just as precious - a magical New Year's Eve with their best friends and the girl of their dreams.
As the last firework exploded, painting the sky with a brilliant finale, they exchanged smiles, realizing that what they had was worth more than any fleeting moment of romance. In that moment, they embraced the new year with open hearts, knowing that their friendship was a treasure that would continue to light up their lives, making every moment together truly magical.
Feeling torn and unable to confide in the four boys without risking their friendships, (Y/n) sought solace in her friend Lily. Sitting in a cozy corner of their favorite cafe, (Y/n) hesitated before opening up about her complicated feelings. Lily, always a patient listener, encouraged (Y/n) to share her thoughts.
As (Y/n) poured out her emotions, Lily listened with empathy, offering a compassionate ear without judgment. "It's a tough situation, (Y/n)," Lily said gently, her eyes reflecting understanding. "It sounds like you value your friendships a lot, and you're worried about jeopardizing them by confessing your feelings. It might be helpful to take some time to understand your own emotions first. Try imagining how a relationship would be with each of them, see if it could be what you want, and if one of them seems like a better fit."
Deep in thought, (Y/n) considered Lily's words. It dawned on her that she needed to explore her own feelings and priorities before making any decisions. Lily's guidance helped (Y/n) see that it was essential to be true to herself, even if it meant facing difficult choices.
Taking Lily's advice to heart, (Y/n) spent thoughtful moments visualizing what a romantic relationship might look like with each of her four friends. As she explored these mental scenarios, she found herself thinking of Munjung first.
In her imagination, she saw herself and Munjung sharing quiet evenings at their favorite coffee shop, laughing over shared jokes and talking about their dreams and fears. She pictured them going on long walks, their hands brushing against each other as they strolled, lost in deep conversations. In these daydreams, she felt a sense of ease and comfort, as if they were two pieces of a puzzle finally fitting together.
This visualization process allowed (Y/n) to explore her emotions more deeply. With Munjung, she sensed a profound emotional connection, a bond that went beyond friendship. His genuine kindness and unwavering support resonated with her, making her heart skip a beat whenever she thought about him in a romantic context.
Feeling a newfound clarity, (Y/n) realized that her feelings for Munjung ran deeper than she had initially acknowledged. Armed with this understanding, she decided to approach the situation with honesty and open-mindedness. The journey of self-discovery had given her the confidence to confront her feelings and, perhaps, explore the possibility of a romantic relationship with Munjung, guided by the genuine friendship they shared.
Continuing her introspective journey, (Y/n) shifted her focus to Yunseo, her dear friend who had always been a source of unwavering support and understanding. As she delved into her imagination, she envisioned a relationship with Yunseo, picturing moments filled with laughter, shared dreams, and endless encouragement.
In her mind's eye, she saw them exploring the world together, visiting art galleries and museums, their eyes lighting up with a shared appreciation for creativity. She imagined Yunseo patiently helping her with her studies, his calm and encouraging presence making every challenge seem surmountable. She envisioned them cooking together, experimenting with new recipes, and finding joy in the simplest of moments.
In these daydreams, (Y/n) felt a sense of emotional security and companionship that resonated deeply with her. Yunseo's gentle nature and genuine care created a nurturing environment in her fantasies, one where she felt truly cherished and understood.
This visualization process, much like with Munjung, provided (Y/n) with valuable insights. She recognized the depth of her affection for Yunseo, realizing that he was not just a friend but someone she could potentially build a romantic connection with. As she contemplated these feelings, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, understanding that exploring a romantic relationship with Yunseo could lead to a beautiful, fulfilling partnership grounded in mutual respect and deep friendship. Armed with this newfound awareness, (Y/n) resolved to approach their relationship with honesty and openness, recognizing the potential for something truly special between them.
With her heart open to exploration, (Y/n) shifted her thoughts to envision a romantic relationship with Leejung, her steadfast and caring friend. In her mind's eye, she pictured moments of shared adventure and quiet understanding.
In her daydreams, (Y/n) and Leejung were seen exploring nature together, hiking through lush forests and marveling at the beauty of the natural world. She imagined him patiently teaching her how to play his favorite musical instrument, their laughter filling the room as they made music together. She visualized cozy evenings spent reading books, their interests aligning in perfect harmony.
In these imagined scenarios, (Y/n) felt a sense of tranquility and emotional connection. Leejung's calming presence and genuine kindness created a space where she felt completely at ease, and cherished for who she was. She saw in him a partner who valued her passions and encouraged her dreams, making her believe in herself even more.
These vivid daydreams revealed to (Y/n) the depth of her feelings for Leejung. She realized that he was not just a friend but someone with whom she could build a life filled with love, companionship, and mutual respect. As these thoughts settled within her, she felt a mixture of warmth and anticipation, acknowledging the possibility of a beautiful romantic relationship with Leejung. With her heart brimming with newfound understanding, (Y/n) felt ready to explore the uncharted territories of love, guided by the genuine affection she held for her caring friend.
(Y/n) closed her eyes and allowed her thoughts to drift to Gunwook, her dependable friend who had always been there for her, especially during challenging times. In her daydreams, she envisioned a relationship with him that was filled with laughter, understanding, and unwavering support.
In her imagination, she saw them attending movie marathons together, sharing endless bags of popcorn and trading inside jokes. She pictured Gunwook helping her with her studies, his patient explanations and encouraging words giving her the confidence to tackle even the most difficult subjects. She visualized cozy evenings spent stargazing, their conversations meandering from the mysteries of the universe to their dreams and aspirations.
In these imaginary scenarios, (Y/n) felt a profound sense of emotional security and joy. Gunwook's infectious laughter and genuine kindness created an atmosphere where she felt truly cherished and appreciated for who she was. She saw in him a partner who not only made her laugh but also understood the depths of her soul, someone who stood by her side through thick and thin.
As these daydreams played out in her mind, (Y/n) realized the depth of her affection for Gunwook. His friendship had blossomed into something deeper, something that made her heart flutter with happiness. Acknowledging these feelings, she felt a sense of contentment and excitement, understanding that her connection with Gunwook held the potential for a beautiful and fulfilling romantic relationship.
Armed with these vivid realizations, (Y/n) approached the new chapter in her life with a newfound clarity. Each of her friends held a special place in her heart, and the complexity of her feelings, while daunting, was also a testament to the depth of the connections she shared with them. With a heart full of love and understanding, (Y/n) was ready to navigate the uncharted waters of romance, trusting in the genuine bonds she had with Munjung, Yunseo, Leejung, and Gunwook to guide her toward a future filled with happiness and love.
The sun streamed in through the windows of Leejung's cozy living room, casting a warm glow on the group of friends huddled together, their textbooks and notes spread out before them. The atmosphere was charged with focus as they prepared for the upcoming exam, their determination evident in their expressions.
During a momentary pause in their studying, (Y/n) looked up from her notes, her eyes reflecting the uncertainty swirling within her. With a deep breath, she asked the question that had been weighing on her mind, "What would you do if you had feelings for more than one person at the same time?" Her voice was steady, yet beneath the surface, there was a vulnerability, a silent plea for guidance. She searched their faces, her friends, for insights, understanding that their responses could shed light on the intricate emotions she was grappling with.
The room fell into a thoughtful silence as the boys exchanged glances, clearly recognizing the weight of the question. Munjung, Yunseo, Leejung, and Gunwook shared a brief moment of contemplation before Munjung, always thoughtful and articulate, spoke up first. "I think honesty is crucial," he said, his voice steady. "If you find yourself having feelings for more than one person, it's important to be open about it. Communication can help navigate these emotions and ensure that no one is hurt in the process."
Yunseo nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting understanding. "Absolutely," he added. "Being honest with everyone involved, including yourself, allows for a clearer understanding of your own feelings and helps in making decisions that are respectful to everyone involved."
Leejung, usually quiet but perceptive, chimed in, "Understanding what you truly want and valuing the friendship you share with each person is vital. It's not just about your feelings but also about how your choices might affect the people around you. Respect and consideration should guide your actions."
Gunwook, always the thoughtful listener, finally spoke, his words carrying a depth of wisdom. "Feelings are complex and can't always be controlled," he said. "But being responsible for those feelings is within our power. It's about handling them with care, respecting the boundaries of friendship, and being aware of the impact our choices might have on others."
(Y/n) listened to their responses, her heart swelling with gratitude for the genuine friendships and the maturity they displayed. Their words provided her with valuable insights, reminding her of the importance of open communication, self-reflection, and, above all, respect for the emotions of everyone involved. As they resumed their studies, (Y/n) felt a newfound sense of clarity, armed with the wisdom of her friends as she navigated the complexities of her own heart.
Sensing the subtle worry in (Y/n)'s eyes after their conversation, Gunwook, ever perceptive and lighthearted, decided to break the tension. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he suddenly stood up, music playing in his mind, and started dancing wildly around the room. His movements were carefree, his laughter infectious, as he spun and twirled, encouraging everyone to join in. His spontaneous dance transformed the atmosphere, filling the room with laughter and easing the weight of their earlier conversation. (Y/n) couldn't help but smile, her worries momentarily forgotten as she joined in the fun, grateful for Gunwook's ability to bring joy into any situation.
Gunwook's impromptu dance party worked like magic, dispelling the lingering tension in the room. With smiles on their faces and laughter in the air, the group of friends decided to call it a day for studying. They gathered around, each claiming a comfortable spot in Leejung's living room, ready for the much-anticipated movie night.
As they settled in, popcorn in hand and blankets draped over their laps, (Y/n) felt a sense of gratitude for her friends. Their ability to balance serious conversations with lighthearted moments was a testament to the strength of their friendship. The movie began, and for the next few hours, they lost themselves in the story unfolding on the screen, their laughter and occasional gasps creating a soundtrack of camaraderie. In that moment, all worries and uncertainties faded away, replaced by the simple joy of being surrounded by people who cared. The movie night became a cherished memory, a reminder of the power of friendship to uplift the spirits and bring solace in the midst of life's complexities.
With her hands wrapped around her warm cup, (Y/n) took a deep breath, her gaze meeting Lily's eyes with newfound determination. The cafe buzzed softly around them, but in that moment, there was a quiet intensity in (Y/n)'s voice as she said, "I actually think I know who to choose."
Lily's expression shifted from curiosity to supportive anticipation. She reached out, her hand gently covering (Y/n)'s, offering silent encouragement. "Who?" Lily asked, her voice soft and reassuring.
A small, genuine smile played on (Y/n)'s lips as she replied, "I choose to follow my heart, Lily. I choose love, and I choose (insert your choice)." Her words hung in the air, filled with certainty and a sense of peace.
In that instant, the weight of her decision seemed to lift, replaced by a profound sense of conviction. The choice was made, and (Y/n) felt a mix of excitement and calm settle within her. With Lily by her side, supporting her every step of the way, she felt ready to embrace this new chapter, guided by the authenticity of her feelings and the strength of her friendships.
With a heartfelt honesty in her voice, (Y/n) continued, "I don't know if this will last forever but what really matters is that I know I'll be happy with him right now." Her words resonated with a sense of present-moment contentment, embracing the idea that love, in its truest form, could be found in the joy of the present, in the happiness they could share together in this very moment. Lily smiled warmly, understanding the depth of (Y/n)'s feelings and her courage to embrace the beauty of the now, appreciating the love they had without worrying too much about the uncertainties of the future. In that cafe, amidst the soft hum of conversation and the aroma of coffee, (Y/n) found peace in her decision, ready to embark on this journey with (insert boy of your choice), guided by the simple yet profound truth that happiness was, indeed, worth the risk.

summary: things in pumpkin szn i associate with evnne
a/n: this was so much fun! 🫶🏼 obviously, this post is more fall-centric than just regular associations but i truly do hope you enjoy :) PICS AREN'T MINE
keita ✦ apple cider donuts, pinterest boards dedicated to Halloween because who wouldn't want to dress up, have a month-long debate of whether "The Night Before Christmas" is a Halloween movie, warm apple pie, pumpkin picking, wearing matching fall outfits with you
hanbin ✦ cold weather which means cool fashion, deciding matching outfits for each day of the fall season, watching cheesy badly-made horror film where you just end up giggling because it's so awfully ridiculous, waking up at 2am to make carrot cake, dancing to frank sinatra (more like hanbin teaching you to dance) in the middle of the night, watching the leaves fall and getting candles
jeonghyeon ✦ constantly asking you which costume he should get for his dog, obsessed with showing you his many coats and scarves, definitely prefers iced coffee even when it’s 45 degrees Fahrenheit, sees the "boo basket" trend on tiktok and makes one for you, kisses your forehead for no reason, watching monster high together while holding hot cocoa
seungeon ✦ did you say karaoke battles until you lose track of time, finishing puzzles while seungeon dries your hair for you, cuddled up in a blanket watching the classic peanuts movies, going out apple picking only for him to cheesily tell you that you're the apple of his eye, holding hands while shopping and not buying anything because you're too in love!!
yunseo ✦ making those iconic Pillsbury shape cookies, wandering around the fall/Halloween section of Target, and buying a pumpkin spice latte for the aesthetic, makes you go on brisk morning walks with him, and you both watch detective shows while making matching fall tie-blankets; definitely serenades you in front of the fireplace just because he thinks you're his entire world
junghyun ✦ buying candy for the halloween season but it's actually just for you both to share, going out for the "spooky" photoshoot trend which means have the hyungs take the pics, proceeding to go shopping and getting distracted by potential costumes for each otherjihoo ✦ you both decided that jumping into leaves was a fun activity until you were laughing so hard that your insides hurt, waking up early to watch the sunrise, running through the leaves and then finding yourselves all the way across town, admiring the city lights of korea

About Me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi, I go by LULU, and I am currently in High School. I write imagines for the groups I like, by taking inspiration from my own experiences and ideas.
This blog is SFW, so I will not post anything other than that.
The groups that I currently listen to/write for are listed below, along with my biases from each group. I'm still trying to get into other groups and learn their personalities to write them accurately, but I do write for and listen to the groups listed.
I know this blog is mainly K-Pop, but I also watch/read Anime/Manga. The ones I'm currently hyperfixated on are Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Demon Slayer, and a little bit of Blue Lock. I've also started watching a bunch of Tokusatsu (Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, etc.) stuff. So, if anyone wants to request anything from those places, I'll try to write it!

🫧 evnne reaction to being saved as just their name in your phone 🫧
pairing: boyf!evnne x gn!reader

synopsis: your boyfriend asks what name you saved his number under in your phone and you reply with just his name.
Tumblr media
𓆉 hanbin
“so what, when you wanna call me you just type in hanbin?” he asks in absolute disgust, his eyes squinting so much he looks genuinely in pain.
“you’re always at the top of my call list, i don’t have to search,” you answer very literally, hoping it acts as damage control.
“the guy you love the most, and i’m just saved as boring old hanbin?”
“well i wouldn’t call you boring…” you tease, earning a scoff, a head shake and even more of a squint.
“change it before i do it for you,” he demands in a teasing way, but you don’t mind following this order. “i can’t believe you’ve lived like this for 2 months.”
you barely hear him continue to talk, too busy concentrating on picking the perfect name that you know he’ll absolutely hate as payback for making a big deal out of it. “there,” you hold the phone out in front of his face.
“jelly,” he reads out, “and a blue heart,” he contemplates it for a moment. you furrow your brows at how long it’s taking for him to start complaining. “i like it, kinda goes well with mine too, sweetie”
other members under the cut
𓆉 keita
“full name? like how you’d save the window cleaner?” he blurted out in a moment of disbelief.
you side eyed your boyfriend who’s only reaction was to cross his arms. “do you know how much my friends would tease me if i had anything but your name?”
“that’s doesn’t make it any better,” he calmed down, slipping your phone out of your hands and unlocking it with your password. “i’m changing it.”
you watched over his shoulder as he scrolled your contacts. he found “k” and tutted as his eyes landed on his name.
“can i change it?” he asked cutely, completely switching his act from just a few seconds ago. you nodded straight away. “right, i think “baby” will look nice. with a star and a black heart,” he spoke as he typed.
you smiled as you read and listened to your boyfriend muttering to himself. he was absolutely adorable, he’s definitely worth the endless teasing from your friends.
“okay perfect,” he locked your phone and lazily handed it to you, “and you better not change it back.”
𓆉 jeonghyeon
“for real?” he asked, his voice and pitch raised in an offended way.
you pull a face as if to suggest it’s not a big deal, “well, it is your name, jeonghyeon…”
jeonghyeon tuts while rolling his eyes, dramatically, sure, but there’s definitely intention behind it. “babe, boyfriend, honey, love,” he counts on his fingers, “even just jeonghyeonie,” he pulls out his phone, “all things that you’ve called me but noooo.”
you smile at his cuteness, which made him even more riled. “what’s mine saved as?”
“my darling,” he admits, pulling up your contact info and placing it on the table in front of you, donning a pout until you look at him again. “but i can change it to just y/n, no problem.” you look back at his phone, the words make you smile and seeing the little blue heart emoji next to them makes your stomach fill with fluttering butterflies . you hated to admit it, but it did feel good to see it. and the thought of him changing it, well you didn’t even want to think about it.
“no, no, it’s fine, you don’t have to do that,” you locked his phone for him and handed it back to him after picking it up from the table.
“so will you change mine?” his pleading eyes were unavoidable, like a puppy you just can’t say no to. you rolled your eyes and back spaced on his contact name, “save me as “my love” please,”” he urged.
“don’t test your luck, jeonghyeon,” you deadpanned, but followed his directions anyway.
𓆉 seungeon
“i have you saved as “my sunshine” and you just have my name?!” seungeon laughs out loud, finding the whole situation hilarious.
“wait,” the laughter died down and your face drops, “i’m your sunshine?” you ask, feeling full of love yet so incredibly guilty. “let me change your name right now, you’re too cute, i swear-”
“you don’t have to, i think it’s funny, y/n, you really don’t need to do that!” the palm of his hand covers your phone screen as he speaks.
your fingers move it out of the way gently as you begin to type “angel” into the box. seungeon completely moves his hand once you’ve finished typing and takes a look, you wait to see his reaction, not once taking your eyes off him.
“yeah you definitely should’ve just left it as my name,” he bursts out laughing again, kicking his feet in the air playfully. you look down to check what you’d written. angle. you’d now saved him as angle. “acute or obtuse? actually, i think i wanna be reflex.”
“that’s because i couldn’t see the screen!” you playfully prod seungeon in the arm. “now, let me change it properly this time.”
when he stopped laughing once again, he took the hand you just poked him with in his “please do. i like the name angel.” his smile was playfully adorable, you couldn’t help but tease him.
“who said it was going to be “angel”? it might have been “eagle”… or “bagel”.”
𓆉 yunseo
“oh,” yunseo pouts in an unintentionally cute way.
you instantly feel bad and try coming up with an excuse, “that’s just how i saved it when we met, i had no idea we were going to become… us, and i never got around to changing it because i was just used to seeing it like that,” you stumbled over your words as they left your mouth in hurry.
“it’s fine, i’ll just change yours back to your name too, then,” you think he’s joking until he reaches for his phone.
“NO,” you’re both slightly taken aback by the volume of your voice, so much so that yunseo stops in his tracks, “let me change yours right now.”
“really?” he finally breaks into a smile, a warm, familiar feeling running through your chest, “hmm what to?”
“cutie suits you,” you shy away from his eyes, “and how about i add a heart?” yunseo nods his head, adding a content hum as he knows you can’t see him.
the next thing you know, yunseo is hugging you from behind, watching you type. “the white heart, please. and can you add the teddy bear? i think it’s so cute.”
you turn your head slightly to look at him, resting his chin on your shoulder, “but, what am i saved as?”
“my baby. with the cute black cat and white heart. what do you think?”
𓆉 junghyun
“that’s so mean,” junghyun’s hand comes to cover his mouth as he laughs in disbelief.
“is it? why? what am i saved as in your phone, hm?”
“key emoji and a purple heart,” he admits with a proud puff of his chest.
“oh i forgot you’re a closeted millennial,” you roll your eyes to your boyfriend, who’s feeling even more offended now. “how about we both change them, then, how does that sound?”
“great,” you both pull your phones out and delete everything in the name box. “i want to be “my honey” please,” he proclaims.
“i was going to say that,” you both look at each other in shock, before laughing. “well, i guess we can both be each other’s honey, but i’m gonna put a puppy emoji and a purple heart next to yours.”
his smile gets brighter, you always know how to make him happy, “the bunny and the yellow heart for you?” he asked, knowing that you’d say yes.
you put your phones together, the two matching nicknames in bold lettering across both the screens, “perfect,” you both say at the same time.

I’m just an anon looking for content about (evnne) yunseo 😓 And I was thinking of a scenario with jealous!yunseo 🙏 pleek
my bias!! I’m deeply in love with him!!
Jealous Yunseo is so cute!!! It all started when some random dude tried to flirt with you while you were hangin out to the mall, he was paying for some ice cream when he saw that guy trying to get your insta, he goes fast and gives you a kiss on the cheek. When he is feeling jealous he would be more touchy the rest of the day like hugging you from behind and holding your hand 24/7.
When you get home he would ask you about what happened and he gets frustrated because he wasn’t there to protect you
“You don’t need to protect me, Yunseo. I would never talk with that guy because I have you” you respond, grabbing his face to make him look at you
“You mine, mine, all mine” he says while kissing all over your face.

Build Up, Ep 4 Recap: Kick It v The Little Prince
Tumblr media
Welcome back to the project nobody minds waiting two weeks for -- my MNET Build Up Recaps! In the previous one, we finally finished episode 3, seeing that match up between Jay and Wumuti. In this one, we’ll see WEi’s Seokhwa and AB6IX’s Woong take on two trainees. Will the sunbaes beat the hoobaes? Will the hoobaes rebel? Only one way to find out!
After a super brief recap, the episode dives in to the first match of the episode: idols versus trainees. People comment on the flashy outfits idols Seokhwa and Woong are wearing, and wonder if they’ll dance.
Tumblr media
“Idol beauty radiates -- Kang Seokhwa (left) x Jeon Woong team”
They introduce themselves as “fate,” and I think it’s a pun/meme that would make sense to Korean viewers because it makes everyone else laugh.
Both Woong and Seokhwa were on team Ditto, and Woong ended up with a low tier ranking even though I think his voice sounded quite nice.
In comparison to Seokhwa and Woong’s punky idol styling, the trainees Ji Yeonwoo and Jeong Yunseo are dressed simply and cutely.
Tumblr media
Yeonwoo, left, was low tier in Decalcomanie for forgetting the words, poor kid.
You might remember Yunseo most for his red outfit in the first episode that made him look like he drove racecars for a living. (It was cute, don’t get me wrong.) You might also remember his bold confidence in his team performance of Beautiful, where unlike his fellow trainee Minseo, he seemed to be completely sure that he’d succeed. I really love his attitude!
The judges start off by asking the trainees if they’re nervous, and Jaehwan reminds Yeonwoo about his mistake. Yeonwoo says that he’s been having nightmares every night reliving that moment and that it was the worst moment of his life. Poor kid, god, can you imagine? I just want to hug him. Anyway, he promises not to make a mistake again. The other judges yell at Jaehwan for bringing it up.
The two teams trash talk a little -- the trainees say that they have nothing to lose, essentially. The idols say that the trainees are cute, and that they think beating the trainees would be a good story for MNET. Eunkwang rightfully points out, however, that a better story for MNET would be if the idols lose!
Time for a flashback.
It’s the duet-forming portion of the day, and we see Seokhwa go straight for Woong. Since Woong was in the Low Tier and probably was scared no one would pick him, you can tell he’s really glad to see Seokhwa!
Tumblr media
“This is the narrative,” reality-savvy Woong interviews. “If you fall and go back up? That’s the narrative.” Yes, but unfortunately, MNET also likes it if you fall and keep falling. They’re sociopaths that way.
This pair up may not have been the best idea, as we’ll see, but it makes a lot of intuitive sense that these two would want to work together. For one thing, they have had similar careers so far. Both WEi and Ab6ix could be considered post-ProduceX101 groups, and they debuted 15 months apart (first AB6IX, then WEi). They would have friends in common, for starters, and given that both groups put out three singles each in 2021 and 2022, they had to be promoting at the same time at least a few times. Woong is Seokhwa’s sunbae since Woong debuted first, but Seokhwa is older, making their relationship a bit more balanced. Also, they obviously solidified their friendship during their preparations for Ditto. Plus, Seokhwa wanted to work with another idol so they could do an idol-style performance, something more dynamic than Ditto. As I said, it all makes sense, especially if you remember that often times the winning group on Boys Planet would be the group that got along better.
Ok, in this next portion I need to talk about Ji Yeonwoo and Jeong Yunseo. I think that if I were reading these recaps, I’d find those names similar enough that I wouldn’t be able to remember who is who and I might have to scroll up and down a lot. So, I’m going to call Yunseo “driver Yunseo.” This is for two reasons: (1) He looked like a racecar driver on the first day.
Tumblr media
And (2) because he really is a “driver” in this storyline!
The flashback also shows us poor Yeonwoo, waiting for a duo partner. He voice-overs that after he messed up the lyrics, he felt like he wanted to “hide in a rat hole.” It looks like no one wants to work with him… until driver Yunseo comes over to rescue him, saying, “Let’s go, ‘04s.” Aww, they’re chingoos! (A “chingoo” is someone the same age as you, which makes you feel like you’re friends -- it’s a Korean cultural thing I don’t totally get.)
Tumblr media
Driver Yunseo thought they’d be a good match, and I think it was smart on his part to pick Yeonwoo too. The two maknae on a show will always get a kind reception, even if they don’t always get the highest scores.
Driver Yunseo either genuinely wants to cheer up his chingoo or he knows that he has to get Yeonwoo’s confidence up if they are going to have any chance of winning, or both, because he puts his arm around his chingoo’s shoulders, he gives him complicated high-5s, and just generally does everything in his power to pump Yeonwoo up. It’s cute.
Tumblr media
Driver Yunseo says: “Ji Yeonwoo, Nekkoya (you’re mine!)”
With Driver Yunseo’s infectious confidence beginning to spread to him, Yeonwoo vows to “rebel” and win this time. Driver Yunseo says, “I promise you, I’ll make you a narrative.” Yunseo GETS IT, you guys. I really like this kid.
Anyway, so, all the guys are sitting on the floor whispering to each other about which duos they want to challenge. Driver Yunseo says, “the team I think we can beat no matter what is Kang Seokhwa’s team.” I hate to say it, but that was pretty smart.
Ok, hear me out, because I really like all four of these guys and wouldn’t want any of them to be sad or anything, but I have noticed that Seokhwa’s voice is a bit weak. It’s a very pretty, sweet, light voice; he has a lot of potential, and a lot of current charm, seeing as he did get a judge’s vote. But he often strains on higher notes, and his belts sound like he’s tensing up his throat a lot. He’s super stable as a performer in WEi and is really well suited for the idol life. I’m just not sure that his vocals are quite to the level this show expects. Sorry, RUi!
I also think that as outwardly cheerful as Woong is, I think he’s really feeling low. I actually really like the texture of his singing voice, and think the judges were unnecessarily rough on him. Being put in the low tier when he’s a main vocal was probably pretty distressing for him.  Even though *I* know his voice is really nice, it doesn’t seem like anyone on the show really seems to think so. No one is telling him his voice is nice. Only 14 people voted that they’d want to work with him. So with Woong’s confidence and reputation both kind of in the dumpster, he’s also an easy target.
The trainees correctly deduce that the idols are going to want to do something bouncy and higher energy, maybe with the some dancing, and think that they themselves can win by using their vocal skills and youth to charm the judges. “It’s not a bad picture for us if we try to beat the seniors. Not a bad picture at all,” Driver Yunseo whispers to his chingoo. I’m telling you, Yunseo GETS IT.
So up until now, I’ve been unclear as to how the whole situation with the Rival Choosing Platform Area (RCPA) worked. This time, we actually hear Solar announcing Seokwa and Woong’s names, so they were somehow selected to go down to the RCPA. You’d think that maybe the show could have told us how this all works at any point, but that would have eaten into their instant replay time, so I guess not.
Seokhwa and Woong invite a challenger.
Tumblr media
And then a few other teams head down to the RCPA, which kind of hurts the idols’ feelings. Do they look like pushovers? They’re challenged by our two trainees, as well as by Team Geonu x Soomin and Team Hong Seongjun x Kim Seohyung.
Tumblr media
Left to right: Woong, Seokhwa; Kim Seohyung, Hong Seongjun, Geonu, Soomin, Driver Yunseo (hidden), Yeonwoo.
Interesting, those two other teams end up each others’ rivals and are up third in this episode! So we’ll see them in the post after the next one.
The trainees make their case.
Tumblr media
“I thought it would be an interesting scene, you know, for the viewers, you know, if the idols and trainees go against each other.”
“Ahh!”
“Especially if we win!”
“What?”
“Nothing!”
Seokhwa chooses the trainees, reasoning that they’d be easy to beat. And only later do we find out that Woong had told Seokhwa that the trainees were the one team he wanted to avoid, because it would be disastrous to lose to them! But more on that shortly.
The trainees decide that to show off their singing skills and youthful appeal, they’ll sing “The Little Prince,” originally performed by Ryeowook from SuperJunior. The song was released in 2016, when Ryeowook was almost 30, but it’s a sweet and youthful-feeling little song about love and friendship inspired by the classic story The Little Prince.
Sample lyrics:
Making a heart that is like the wind stay with me Is such a hard thing I know But I won’t say anything, I’m just waiting for you The Little Prince told me That gaining someone’s heart Is the hardest thing to do, come to me The Little Prince said to me It might be sad right now But we’re never gonna be apart That you’re going to want to laugh with me
As they head into the performance, poor Yeonwoo talks more about how miserable he was after he made his mistake. The stakes are high! He vows to do better this time.
Watching the trainees getting ready, Baekho and Seungkwan -- who are signed to the same agency -- talk about how their monthly evaluations as trainees made them more nervous than performing ever did. Boy, do I get that! I’d rather perform 100 times than audition once.
Before they perform, the trainees do some squats, for some reason (I guess maybe to shake off the nervous energy?) and then steel themselves. It’s time!

My thoughts:
Tumblr media
Yeonwoo, left, in the s w e a t e r over a collared shirt, and Yunseo, right.
Aww, this was cute.
Have you ever been watching a competition reality show that involve a creative element, like Top Chef or Project Runway or Glow Up or Bake Off, and a contestant says “I’ve never done this before, but you don’t win by playing it safe!” And you, watching at home, are like, “omg, why are you doing that? If you’ve never worked with leather, if you’ve never cooked lamb, if you’ve never used prosthetics, if you’ve never made caramel, or whatever the hell durned foolish thing you’re going to do for the first time on international TV, why are you doing it now?” And most of the time they end up going home, while someone who made sure to safely land the plane is the one who wins.
These two landed the plane.
This song isn’t necessarily easy to sing; it has a lot of high notes and requires a lot of vocal agility to make it through the melody and the rhythm, both of which get tricky at times. However, the “concept” or idea behind the song is relatively straight forward and easy for these two to deliver -- a sort of youthful view on love as something that you can hope for if you’re patient. Also, though Ryeowook is a main vocal of SuJu and has a great voice, he’s not someone supernatural like Chen that would be a really, really hard act to follow.
Yeonwoo and Driver Yunseo both have good, young voices with tons of potential. I think they both could use a bit more training and experience, but they really do both deserve to be on this stage. Both sounded more than a bit nervous, which may have contributed to their breath control issues, but both held strong to the end and I didn’t notice any pitchiness or major tempo mistakes, which is big.
Of the two voices, I think I like Driver Yunseo’s a little more, as a Yeonwoo is still a bit nasal at times. Yeonwoo also went a tiny bit fast at a few points, and his high notes were a little bit strained. Driver Yunseo’s lower register is really gorgeous, while Yeonwoo’s higher notes are a bit stronger. They made a great duo! I don’t think they’re going to win this show, but I’m glad they’re on it.
The MNET edit is very retrained. Mostly it’s just the two trainees singing, with occasional shots of the guys backstage looking both proud and hopeful, like this:
Tumblr media
Hyukjin, left, and Jeong Inseong from KNK, who will be going third in episode 5.
And the judges smiling indulgently and/or uncertainly, like this:
Tumblr media
When they’re done, everyone applauds for the maknae.
Tumblr media
The judges say things like, “aww, they must have practiced a lot!”
Backstage, the guys joke about how well the trainees’ did -- “are they our sons? Did we raise them?” -- and also joke a bit about how old they feel in comparison to them.
Tumblr media
“If we sang The Little Prince, it wouldn’t come out like that!” Hwanhee from Up10tion says. “Old princes would come out if we sang.” Hwanji is like, “hey man, stop talking like that.” They’re only 24/25 years old, so he has a point.
Seokhwa and Woong, waiting in the wings, say, “They did a great job. Much better than in rehearsal.” You can see the worry on their faces.
The judges vote, and we get the high and low score -- a high of 92 from Seungkwan from Seventeen and a low of 70 from Jaehwan. That’s the lowest “high score” and the lowest “low score” we’ve seen thus far, but it’s not embarrassing or anything.  They look pretty happy!
Tumblr media
Seungkwan is like, wow, Jaehwan, what’s up with the 70?
And a glowing light comes out of Jaehwan’s eyes and his body begins to slowly levitate as he says, “In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! ALL SHALL LOVE ME, AND DESPAIR!”
I mean, maybe not literally.
Seungkwan mentions Yunseo’s early lines, which were in fact quite sweet and lovely. “I think it started off well and went along steadily until the end without bumps.”
Jaehwan says, “Actually I really liked it. Maybe it was the purity that comes form the vocal tone…? I felt like I was listening to angels’ songs.”
Everyone is like, wtf? You cheered for them and loved them and gave these “angels” a 70? Backstage, one of the guys mutters, “He’s going to hell.”
Tumblr media
Jaehwan continues: “I still thought about it calmly. When I heard the song, I felt endlless possibilities, but when considering the average level of singing ability, I thought that 70 was the appropriate score. It wasn’t bad, though!”
Eunkwang says, “it was so good, but….” and he points out that Driver Yunseo sort of bounces in a bowlegged way as he sings. That’s exactly the kind of helpful feedback that a good sunbae should point out, says I, and the other judges agree.
Backstage, Seokhwa and Woong are really nervous now. I think the trainees had had a really bad rehearsal and so the idols were pretty sure they’d have an easy time of it. But now the idea that a pair of debuted idols would lose to trainees who did a kind of straight-forward performance is just really sinking into their heads.
Woong is worried that maybe people will lose interest in AB6IX if he doesn’t do well on the show. Oh, I doubt that, Woong-ah. It’s a parasocial thing -- people might even like you better if you lose.
We see a flashback to the rival choosing moment, and this is when we learn that Woong really didn’t want to go up against the trainees, because the optics of losing to them would be awful and the optics of beating them wouldn’t be much better. He had told Seokhwa as much, which Woong finds perplexing.
Seokhwa either didn’t hear or didn’t think it really mattered, and chose the trainees because he thought it would make them stand out. I think I’m with Woong on this one! Woong interviews, “I can’t get any lower than I am right now. We better win.”
The idols have a nice cozy rehearsal studio to work in, but no sweaters.
Tumblr media
Seokhwa reveals that he overheard the trainees talking ant that they’re planning to do a bright, youthful ballad. Seokhwa wants to show that ballad vocals aren’t the only kind of vocals, and maybe doing something more hip, with an R&B vibe, would give them their own lane to drive in. The judges liked their performance skills in Ditto, so they should capitalize on that. That sounds great to me, Seokhwa!
What about maybe Butter by BTS? That song is catchy af. Or what about Blooming Day or Hey Mama by EXO-CBX? I think both of those songs would sound good as a duet, and both would get the judges on their feet! Ok, sure, with the EXO-CBX songs you’d be following in some amazing vocal footsteps, but I think it would be fine! There’s also a bit of rap to show off here.
But nope. They want to do “Kick it” by Blackpink. I don’t know why on earth they chose this song!  This is one of those songs where Teddy Park had a lunch date he really wanted to keep, so he just sort of threw some notes in a random order and had Jennie sing with as much swag as humanly possible so that it sounded almost like a melody.
Also, there's another problem here. See, Woong is a very derivative singer. I really like his voice, as I’ve said before, but if you listen to his vocal check performance and compare it to the original singers’ version, it’s nearly identical, to the smallest detail. I think Woong needs to hear an example of really good singing in order to match it, and he’s not going to get it on this song. Do not get me wrong; the members of Blackpink are all fantastic performers and I always enjoy their vocals. But none of them sings in a way that is likely to draw positive attention on a show like this. Rosé in particular worries me -- she has a gorgeous natural instrument, and the YG singing style is teaching her really bad habits that might hurt her vocal cords long term. In any case, there’s nothing for Woong to appropriately mimic here to pull out an outstanding performance.
I really get the feeling that they were overwhelmed by the possibility of choosing any song in the whole world. They wanted to do a girls’ song because it would be cool and attention grabbing, and then wanted to do a Blackpink song because Blackpink is so popular, and once they’d made that choice, they sort of randomly chose this song. The choosing was stressful and they wanted to get to the part where they’d already chosen. That happened to me with my fella when we were trying to pick out curtains. Now we have curtains that don’t really match the room. Sigh.
If they had really wanted to do a girls’ song, I think Impurities by Le Sserafim would have been cool -- it has a beat and you can definitely dance to it, but it’s also kind of smooth and sexy. It has a real tune and real chords and they could have done something cool with it. Or maybe Eleven by IVE. It could have sounded really cool!   (For both of those links, go to speed and set it to 1.25, or if you know how to do custom, 1.15 is perfect. That way it’s at normal speed, just a lower pitch.)
Anyway, Seokhwa wants to show how cool they can be.
Tumblr media
They rehearse at Woong’s agency, Brandnew Music  (I mean, blur it all you want, MNET, the logo is pretty obvious), practicing as hard as they did when they were trainees.
Before they start, the judges talk about how with the song they’re doing, they’ll have to really light up the stage and have fun. The judges are hoping for a good performance showcasing singing, dancing, and rap. As the lights go down, Wendy says, “This is what they’re best at. They shouldn’t be so nervous.”
Here is the full version without reactions.
Tumblr media
My thoughts:
Overall, it’s just sort of curiously lacking something. I watched this on an airplane on my tablet, and wondered if maybe it just felt “off” because of my environment, but then I remembered that I was really impressed by Jay and Bitsaeon in the same circumstance.
They both seem so nervous, especially Seokhwa, who runs out of air in the middle of lines, and keeps brushing his hair back anxiously. Woong remembers to smile and connect with the camera, but you can almost see him trying to remember the dance steps. Woong is obviously doing a Jennie impression a lot of time, as I expected him to do, and it just doesn’t  sound as good as it does when he just sings as himself.
As they sort of settle in, it seems like maybe they can relax and pull it out at the end, but then a Terrible Thing happens: Seokhwa’s voice cracks on a high note.
Oh no.
Tumblr media
It’s pretty noticeable, and I already know that it will be a lot more noticeable when MNET does a few instant replays. Seokhwa!! Oh no!!! Baby!!
I really think both of these guys are sweet and lovable, and both have nice singing voices that are well suited to being a main vocalist of an idol group. I think a combination of nerves and bad song choice really brought them down in this case, but they haven’t lost me as a fan. Fighting!
I almost don’t want to watch the MNET edit. It starts off with lots of appreciative reactions from the judges and other guys, but as the song wears on, we start to see more looks like this from the judges:
Tumblr media
Backstage, sympathetic Bitsaeon mutters, “They worked so hard for this,” and you know he’s thinking, “... and it turned out like this.”
Tumblr media
Look how miserable Woong looks even *before* Seokhwa’s crack.
And then the crack happens.
Tumblr media
We only have to hear it twice, thankfully, and Woong never gives up, to his credit, but there’s no coming back.
When they’re done, the judges applaud politely, if a bit sadly. They’re all vocalists too and they know that cracks can happen, that we’re all just fragile meat bags when you get down to it and are subject to our human failings, but…. Still. This performance wasn’t great, crack or no crack.
Backstage, the other guys try to be positive, focusing on how much time and effort went into the performance, and how hard they must have practiced.
Driver Yunseo says, “It was like watching M-Countdown”...
Tumblr media
… but his smile tells us that he thinks that maybe, just maybe, his team has just won.
“You did a good job,” Woong murmurs to Seokhwa, who can’t bear to hear praise right now.

Dahee asks, “Are you happy with your performance?” and of course Seokhwa says no, he made a mistake and is very disappointed with himself. He seems to be barely, barely, barely holding back tears, but he is holding them back. Fighting, Seokhwa, fighting!
The judges give their scores. Jaehwan seems especially unsure how to vote, but finally he locks it in.
Wendy has given them a sympathetic 80, but Jaehwan has given a 60. (As a reminder, the trainees’ high and low scores were 92 and 70 respectively.)

Jaehwan looks genuinely sad about it, but seems to view this judging thing as a responsibility. Backstage, the other trainees say that Jaehwan is so stingy with his points!
Wendy says her favorite part was the rap in verse 2. She asks if they came up with the choreography, and says it’s not easy to do all that, so she gives them credit. Wendy kind of famously has had trouble with dancing in the past, so it makes sense she’d be impressed by dancing. She adds that it would have been better if they had enjoyed it more, which is exactly what I think. She notes that it was probably really tough for them to go up against trainees, and she felt like they deserved the score she gave based on their attempt to show all the elements.
Jaehwan says he’s “heartbroken” about it because “they’re active singers just like me, and we all perform together on music shows. They’re my colleagues who cheer me up. To be honest it’s very hard for me to rate them. Yet I rated them because I’m sitting here. I expected you to have fun on stage because I know how good you are at performance. I expected you to go crazy on stage, and I just didn’t see that today. So I gave this score because I want to see more confidence from you next time. Fighting!”
VCG chimes in with a good point: because the song was originally intended for women’s voices, changing the pitch made it less exciting. He says, “No matter how excitedly you sing with mens’ voices, it’s never exciting. You need to change your voice or something, but you didn’t. Your tone was the same when you scratched your voice, or for the low tone, or the rap. So it didn’t sound fun.” I think he is right on target with that, and it seems that all the guys listening backstage agree. It didn’t even occur to me before that this could be specifically an issue for when guys sing women’s songs, but it makes so much sense.
The idols bow 90 degrees and say thank you for the helpful feedback. I wish they could have met with the judges or a mentor in advance of the performance!
Now it’s time for the winner to be revealed.

And of course, the trainees took it, 591 to 505. Ouch -- it wasn't even close.
If you subtract out the highest and lowest scores, and take the average of the point value remaining, the average score of the other five judges for the trainees is 85 -- and the average score for the idols is 73. Aww!
With Woong’s encouragement, Seokhwa holds it together.
Yeonwoo says, “I wanted to win, but now that I did, I feel bad.”
I think that makes Seokhwa and Woong feel ever worse, though I think they’re also a bit touched by the trainee’s kindness.
Woong vows that even though they’re on the elimination list, they’re going to “build up and show their best.” But backstage, Seokhwa feels awful. He says that he thinks that he ruined round one as well and keep dragging Woong down.
Tumblr media
Woong interviews later that he was really upset, but just didn’t want to show it in front of Seokhwa, because he’s Seokhwa’s hyung, and it’s a hyung’s job to be strong. Aww! Woong, fighting!
The judges talk about how difficult competition is. Wendy says that it’s hard to show your skills when you’re nervous, and Jaehwan points out that that’s part of your skills, to stay calm under pressure.
And on that sad note, this segment draws to a close.
In the next one, we’ll see Bain and Minseo take on Gwangsuk and Sungjung! Should be a good battle. I’ll see you then!
