Adrien has been struggling to make sense of Marinette all day.

Longer than that, if he’s honest—he’s been struggling to make sense of her for a long time now, but today is especially confusing. Between Nino’s panicked hedging and Marinette’s own verbal gymnastics, he feels like he’s been whipped around by Ladybug’s yo-yo and tied up in knots.

Still, he isn’t going to let some confusion get in the way of their friendship.

Even if things have just gotten really, really confusing.

She shrieks when she first sees him in the room, followed by, “Oh, it’s only a statue.” Which stings a bit, honestly—the implication that her shriek would’ve been justified if it’d really been him.

What about him puts her so on edge?

Before he can dwell too much on that, she muses: “Wow… it looks so… real.”

Adrien allows himself a brief moment of pride in a successful prank, resolutely maintaining his waxy-eyed gaze into the distance as she speaks. He can barely make out her movements in his peripheral vision.

Which means the soft trailing of her fingertips down his cheek comes as a complete surprise.

His heart thuds unexpectedly in his chest at her touch.

When was the last time someone had touched his cheek like that—with their bare hands instead of a makeup brush or the magical barrier or a supersuit?

Hi guys! I thought I should do a quick guide to my blog for you all, to answer a few common questions and give some helpful information.

About me: I’m a freelance artist named Audrey. (Calling me Yunyin or Audrey is fine.) I consider myself a semi-professional artist. ; ) I draw a lot of fanart for whatever I’m into at the moment.

On this blog, you’ll mostly find my art, the occasional reblog, and some text posts.

Unless I specifically ask for suggestions, I do not do requests.

Now that they've said they were pregnant, Amelie having no idea about the sentis makes SO much more sense. I was really struggling to figure her out, since it seemed like she was unaware of the significance of the rings (outside of being family heirlooms) and how she seemed delighted and surprised Felix and Adrien looked like twins. From her POV back in the day, she must have figured that they suddenly just managed to conceive, with only Colt knowing the truth.

Do you think that Amélie knows/knew that her son was made with magic and is a sentimonster? From Félix and Kagami's little play, we see Colt using the peacock but we don't see Amélie playing a part in it or being asked about it.

In the episode "Félix", Amélie asks for the Graham de Vanily rings back, but she doesn't necessarily seem aware that they're Adrien's amok (unless she wanted to use them to free Adrien of his father's control but I have doubts).

We don't exactly know of the abuse she probably went through when with Colt, but I think if she knew he could control her son she wouldn't have been too happy with it and would have tried to do something about it - then again she might not have had much of a choice.

So yeah maybe now she knows, or she still doesn't, but I feel like while she was with Colt she just wasn't aware of it. I could definitely see him going behind her back about it, especially since he didn't seem too proud to use magic. And unlike Emilie and Gabriel who used Emilie's emotion of love to create Adrien, it's quite obvious that Colt used his own jealousy to create Félix, not involving Amélie at all

Poor kiddos!! Such a sad confrontation.

Thinking about the sentidrien theory also made it clearer to me the way Plagg and Adrien parallel one another in terms of allowing each other the most freedom they've ever had. This is true no matter if sentidrien is canon or not.

full disclosure, the thing about plagg already knowing is @yunyin ‘s idea that im using here! she mentioned in the discord about ‘what if plagg already knew, and in volpina he distracted adrien with the book so he wouldn’t see the peacock miraculous?’ (that’s paraphrasing) she also made a super neat post about the sentimonster theory that will explain things better than i could.

this theory is gaining traction, and while im sure it would destroy me if it were real, im still open minded about it and think its really cool. i get lots of people dont agree with it, but keep in mind im not declaring this as canon or anything and this is just for fun :)

I know the point of this gif set is to highlight the differences between the French and English dubs (v valid!)

But I gotta talk about those rings. The way they seem to act as a unit in the first gif until he slides them apart. To me it looks like they lock together (which also is part of why I think both of these function as one amok for Adrien, which probably provides both a layer of security and shared control.) This may also mean that like in Crocoduel, where an akuma was shared between pieces of broken object and had to be united to purify it, perhaps both rings would need to be destroyed to kill Adrien, which could explain why he didn't die when Gabe was vaporized in the Shanghai Special or Chat Blanc. Of course, it might have something to do with the miraculous, or it might be that it's Emilie's ring that is the amok alone and he wasn't wearing it, but this makes me wonder!

Also, do the rings need to be reunited every so often? Why polish them together that way? Is it just a ritual for Gabe or is it necessary?

There are a lot of questions!

ML Dialogue Comparison - English & French: S3E23 Félix

French dub: "You, me, and Adrien."

English dub: "You and I."

Okay so I saw this post and wanted to add some thoughts and corrections. Hope you don’t mind!

Adrien does have childhood memories. He and Chloe have a history of being friends since childhood (Despair Bear) and playing with Felix when they were young (Felix.) He also liked playing with toy cars as a child (Gigantitan.)

What he doesn’t have is childhood dreams about what he wanted to be when he grew up, and the closest thing to that in his life is him wanting to be what his parents wanted him to be. (Crocoduel) (This being pictured with him as a baby heavily suggests to me that he was created as a senti from childhood. What baby has a purpose like that?)

The miraculous can be broken by means other than cataclysm. I know that was said in one of the episodes but that was a mistake. In Rogercop, Plagg mentions how transforming with Chloe’s bracelet stuck on his head could damage the miraculous.

In Timetagger, Alix’s watch breaks when it is run over, (and a second time when Chloe drops it) and we now know that is a miraculous as well.

I’m not sure what you mean by his lack of grief for his mother? I feel like he’s been consistently sad about her throughout the series. However, he is capable of moving on, which is something Gabriel isn’t willing to do.

I do think Gabriel’s relationship to him is affected by him being a sentimonster (the contempt he had about “being sentimental over a sentimonster” ((Ladybug)) is all kinds of yikes) but Gabriel is also contemptuous of humanity in general, and seems to make exceptions for his immediate family/Nathalie. Adrien is at minimum someone who was very important to Emilie and created by her, which is probably enough to make him special to Gabriel.

Interestingly, I don’t think Adrien not being a sentimonster would make Gabriel any better of a parent. It would probably make him less uncertain about Adrien, but the neglect and power hunger doesn’t come from nowhere.

Why Emilie and Felix’s father died around the same time:

I believe that the damage of the peacock miraculous is cumulative. If Emilie and Felix’s father only used it once or so, the damage would take time to kill them, but it would be a ticking clock. Nathalie used the peacock multiple times, and while the initial side effects were immediate, she was able to function pretty normally until she was overcome by the damage. It seemed to get worse the more she transformed.

I also want to point out how the transformations really do seem to be more of a merge than a magic suit, so it makes sense that using a broken miraculous could lead to some pretty awful physical damage.

I also wonder about the rings! Even Emilie and Amelie could be the result of those.

Ok so I’ve mentioned a couple times that, in regard to the theory about Adrien being a sentimonster, I’m not so sure he’s always been a sentimonster. I was reading this post yesterday and, as morbid as it sounds, I still think Adrien might have died a year before the events of the show, and was resurrected by Emilie as a sentimonster. Hear me out.

If Adrien (and possibly also Felix) died a year ago and was resurrected as a sentimonster:

it would make his lack of childhood memories make sense, since he could have lost a lot of them

it would make his lack of grief for his mother make sense (hard to grieve someone you don’t remember well)

it would explain why he was so desperate to see the movie of Emilie

it would make Gabriel’s apathy towards him make sense (doesn’t feel like that’s his “real” son)

If it’s only been a year since he’s been a sentimonster, it might not be as obvious that he’s not aging

it would explain why both Emilie and Felix’s dad died a year ago

Gabriel has referred to kids as “so fragile, so easy to break”

It could potentially be foreshadowed by Furious Fu, when Chat got upset at the prospect of Ladybug losing all her memories of the miraculous if she were to stop being a guardian. (Ironic if he’s already lost his memories before, since he wouldn’t remember he lost them hdhdhhjdjjdh)

it could potentially be foreshadowed by the episode Ladybug how, even after the whole spiel about Sentibug being her own fully realized person with free will, Mayura was still easily able to renounce Sentibug’s amok. Chat comments how even the Miraculous Ladybug restore couldn’t bring her back.

(This is really making me suspect that Gabe will get the Ladybug and Black Cat miraculous, wish everything back to normal, revive Emilie and the original, human Adrien, and relinquish Sentiadrien, along with all his memories of school, his friends, and being Chat Noir)

If Adrien (and possibly also Felix) were sentimonsters since birth:

it would explain why Adrien’s been completely isolated his whole life

it would explain why Adrien has only had an interest in school/being rebellious in the past year (if his amok is in the rings, both could be used to control him. With Emilie gone, it would mean he’s currently only being controlled half the amount of time he had been before.)

it would still have to prove that sentimonsters can age

it would still have to explain how it took ~14 years for Emilie to die/become comatose

it would still need to explain wtf is going on with Felix, and why his dad died around the same time as Emilie (I swear, they HAVE to be involved somehow..)

We still need to know:

when the Peacock miraculous broke. So far, we only have one confirmed way a miraculous can break: cataclysm. Did the miraculous break on its own, when Fu was fleeing? Or did it break when Emilie was using it?

can sentimonsters age? Edit: apparently, they can!

other misc (but still possibly relevant) theories:

I really like the idea @yunyin brought up that Felix knows he’s a sentimonster and that the Agrestes are complicit in his father’s death, and that’s why he’s so aggressive, especially towards Gabriel.

The Graham de Vanily rings are the Gemini miraculous from a Greek miracle box, perhaps with the power of Duplication. Perhaps twins “run in their family”?? 🤔 There are even early concepts for a Lion (Leo?) and fish (Pisces?) miraculous.

My personal theory is that Adrien is self-destructive (especially after seeing Guiltrip,) and being Chat Noir helps Adrien externalize what he would ordinarily hide.

He vibes with destruction in a way that's much less obvious than the way Marinette vibes with creation, but it's interesting!

Chat noir having destructive impulses is really interesting to me. I generally really hate the “Kwamis alter their wielders personality” theory, but the much milder idea that wielding the miraculous of destruction would give the user some destructive impulses is really cool. Chat noir almost cataclysming the tree in the Christmas special and breaking the chimney in frustration in sentibubbler………. Just 👀

When I was doing a bit of live-blogging of Climatika, I really wanted to mention that the way Adrien sees Marinette and smiles and waves gave me such a good impression to start off with. The way that they both just LIKE each other as people even if they don't really GET each other yet. While the ML love-square dynamic is pretty unique, I think the mutual affection in any form is what truly makes it work.

I probably would have watched ML if it had been like the PV, but I don't think I would have loved it nearly as much.

I cannot even BEGIN to express how much I love the choice to ditch the original draft of ‘cold and serious Marinette love interest’ and instead make Adrien unequivocally kind and sweet and goodhearted. I don’t know if it’s from years of growing up watching cartoons with mean or rude love interests (or just love interests that just don’t seem to like each other), but when I first started watching Miraculous, and even now, my heart is so full watching Adrien treat Marinette with the utmost care and genuine adoration and friendship.

I had this image of Adrienette finding this somewhere hidden, like a big portrait, (and Marinette at least freaking out because peacock clues) but it would be a lot easier to hide as a sketch! Also Gabriel making it fits, like if I feel the need to draw Emilie with peacock themes how could Gabriel (who is obsessed) NOT?

I wonder if he is responsible for the Emilie stuff all around their house or if he just has them commissioned?

Goodness it's been ages since I've seen the dic version of that scene, I almost forgot they pretended that everyone didn't die but were captured or something maybe? and that she had this very proper quasi British accent as Princess Serena

You know what gets me though is in the Doom Tree series when she gets her memory back and she kind of begs not to because all she ever wanted to be was a regular girl who went to school to see her friends and got bad grades and played games and ate tasty food and had harmless crushes but instead she had to deal with being the Moon Princess and fighting scary monsters
