Well it’s been a while since I’ve posted here
I’m kind of nervous to post this because I haven’t shown so much here but anyways hehe…

Happy ItsuChammie/イツちゃみ/Itsuki x Chammie 800 days!
It’s really been that long, huh? Late November 2021 felt like yesterday when I first saw Itsuki. I didn’t expect to like Itsuki that much (I thought I’d like Link more lol) but he grew on me so fast. There was a good chunk of time between launch-1st anniversary and 1st-2nd anniversary where I wasn’t playing that much (because I was still trying to recover from my gacha losses between a few months after lanch and the first anniversary 😭) but I was always gravitating towards him at least a little bit. I always get emotional when reading Itsuki’s card stories and especially “Kimi to, Utsukushii Kono Sekai De” being my first ever event card I got of him. I can’t really describe it better than the Itsuki oshis who were in “Koibana Radio 2” honestly, like he really does have a cool and mysterious beauty with a cute, real, and clumsy personality I love. Itsuki’s relationship with Tsukiwatari makes me so happy and especially with his stupid antics with Crow but honestly, Tsukiwatari as a whole makes me happy. With over two years of experiences, I truly can’t think of ways to be more happy with Itsuki because nothing could be better than what I have now with him now that everything I could ever want in yume has clicked with me. I love him.

Yumekuro Artbook - Q&A (Yume Tsumugi)
>>> tsukiwatari ver. - magia seminar ver.
Canaan
Introductions: Canaan, the ring-maker. What I like are sweet sweet foods. …Ah. I’m silently sneaking out of the workshop right now, so please be quiet so they don’t catch me 🎶
MC first impressions: “Such soft cheeks”. Squishing them would calm me and give me motivation… I like them. However, I underestimated her tracking abilities… no matter where I go to slack off, she finds me pretty quickly. Hehe.
Bezer first impressions: Professor Bezel is super passionate. It’s amazing. I guess I’m surprised he’s that attached to me. I think it’d be good if he slacked off sometimes… wouldn’t that make him a better teacher, that understands his students’ feelings?
Meister you’re close with: Hmm, I don’t know. I don’t know if we really get along, but Volks always makes me behave. It’s like he’s always keeping an eye on me. It’s annoying, so I think I’ll seriously try to run away next time.
Adel
Introductions: I’m Adel, tailor for the royal warrant guild, Yume Tsumugi. I’ll tell you immediately: I only makes clothes for people I approve of. No matter how important their position or status. There are no exceptions.
MC first impressions: I was exasperated at the arrival of such a rookie. When she chose to speak, the content of her questions, everything was unpromising. Or so I thought— the speed at which she grows and her competitive spirit are not bad at all.
Jin first impressions: Jin, huh…. That one is so impatient there’s nothing to do about it. He quickly succumbs to his desires and indulges in as much pleasure as he can. At first, I thought he was knowledgable and with a good eye— though at least he has the good sense to be ashamed of himself. I’ll just have to wait and see how long he can keep up his self-control/abstinence.
Meister you’re close with: …unfortunately, there is no one up to such title. By the way, just to be on the safe side, if I you ever find me excessively praising the Meister named Merryrose, it’d be because of his powers, not because I truly mean it, alright? You better remember it.
Volks
Introductions: I'm Volks, a gems appraiser belonging to the royal warrant guild Yume Tsumugi. In addition to appraising gemstones, I’m also the guild leader and coordinate the royal family's activities. I look forward to working with you.
MC first impressions: I felt that she had the skills to be a winged guild keeper (TN: guild keepers have a wings shaped badge and Emma has it, idk if all guild keepers or only some of the best ones have it), and I was also drawn to that hidden charm of hers. I felt the need to make that brilliance shine even more beautifully by polishing it with my own hands. I got a little carried away.
Mel first impressions: I do not believe the time spent talking to Mel to be an unpleasant one. His knowledge and insight are remarkable, and above all, he is a diamond in the rough that is worth polishing. I plan to continue enjoying interacting with him in the future.
Meister you’re close with: I often eat meals together with Gastronomy’s Oscar, and we have a good relationship. I empathise with his greed in pursuit of fine cuisine. Whenever I entertain him, deciding on the menu is quite stressful.
Merryrose
Introductions: Dream perfumer, Merryrose. I belong to the royal warrant guild Yumetsumugi. The flowers on my arm? Don’t worry, don’t worry- Oh, that’s right. You shouldn’t get too close to me. Unless you want to be utterly charmed by me, mh?
MC first impressions: An interesting one. Her emotions are always showing on her face; she’ll react to everything. She’ll get mad if I play around too much with Adele, so I thought I’d found a new good person to tease, buuut… you never really know what’s going to happen in life.
Jester first impressions: Jester, huh… he’s so seriously out of his mind, it’s annoying. And what the hell do you mean by partner? (TN: The question asked is to talk about their “partner”, obv not in the romantic sense, aka the black fairies). He’s the one who decided to get attached to me on his own. He says there’s no shortage of unfortunate stories whenever he’s with me… tell a super happy story for once (?), dammit.
Meister you’re close with: It’s a guild thing, but Adel? It might not be mutual, since I’m only playing around with him one-sidedly… well, I like my guild mates. They’re strong-willed, so it’s easy being around them. Though I sometimes get really pissed at Volks’ unreasonable requests.

jealous, jealous, jealous!
— "are you two dating?" ft. victor, emilio, merryrose
— VICTOR!
It took Victor a moment to process that question before quickly regaining his cool. He shot his co-worker a smile but in his mind he was panicking, thinking that he was being a little bit too obvious with his feelings. After all, he already said to himself that he'd push aside his feelings and let you meet other people. It made him feel a little giddy though, the thought of being mistaken as your lover gave him butterflies.
"Oh my, do we really seem that close?" He let out a small laugh, "we're really not dating."
"Then you wouldn't mind if I tried to confess to them, right?"
Crash!
"Huh?" It took Victor a moment to realize what was happening. As if ignoring what they just asked him, he chuckled. "Oh dear, I must've been distracted. Seems like I've broken a glass."
"A-Are you alright!?"
"Yes, I'm fine." His mask was slowly crumbling away and his voice suddenly turned deeper. A little bit rougher. He furrowed his brows and looked at his co-worker right in the eyes. "I can take care of this. Just scram already."
They gulped. Slowly backing away before sprinting out. Victor could only stare at their back getting smaller and smaller before letting out a deep sigh and ruffling his hair. "Ugh… I screwed up."
— EMILIO!
"Dating?" Emilio pondered for a second. He was debating between telling his fellow knight the truth or twisting it a little to match the image inside his head but he knew you wouldn't like it if rumors about you and him spread – and you were his priority. So he chose to tell him the truth… with a little bit of something sprinkled on top. "Well, no… but we're very close."
Maybe he did that to show off. Maybe he did that to ward him off because clearly, he was interested in you. He was fidgeting, sweating, and stuttering. If he was asking just for the sake of knowing, he wouldn't be as bothered as he is. However, this kind of situation calls for a different response.
"T-Then…! Could you put in a good word for me? I'm really interested in them so I've been wondering if you could help."
He didn't take the hint, he thought. A straightforward answer should do the trick.
"They're not looking for a relationship right now." Not a trace of guilt can be found on his face after spitting out a blatant lie. It was scary how his voice had gone cold yet his smile never wavered. "You should give up."
"Please? Just a little push is all I need so I can confess…"
Confess? Emilio tilted his head curiously. "You just don't give up, do you? It's an admirable trait for a knight… however," he grabbed his collar and pulled him closer – sending chills down his spine. "Do try to pick opponents your size."
He backed away, acting as if nothing happened. "Unless you want to be gobbled up, of course."
No one believed the knight when he said that Emilio threatened him.
— MERRYROSE!
"No, why?" Merryrose's reply was quick and simple. It was straightforward enough — No, they were not dating. He conveniently left out the 'yet' part and 'I wish we were' part. He thought it would be super embarrassing if anyone found out his big crush on you and right now he's doing his best to keep a straight face when he got asked this question.
"That's great to hear!" His eye twitched. "I was planning on asking them out soon so I had to make sure there really isn't anything going on between you two."
"Oh, really?" It was childish to get jealous, yes. But what's even more childish is the fact that he removed his glove and put his hand on their arm. He never thought he would intentionally charm someone with his ability but he thought it suddenly became useful for once. His pettiness knew no bounds. Sweetly, he asked: "Could you repeat that for me?"
"O-Oh..! I was wondering if you were interested in going on a date with me, Merryrose." It worked, perfect.
He put his glove back on and replied, "I've got plans. Don't go asking anyone else, though."
It was strange. He hated being treated like this but the moment they showed interest in you, all common sense got thrown out the window. It's fine, he thought. It would be bearable if they fawned over him instead of you. If it was you… He might just burst with jealousy.

Feld ⟡ Wonder Tea Party (03)
[01] [02] [XX] [04] [05] [06] [07]
“Operation: Prospective Marriage”
The day after we got our clue for meeting Alice— We were visiting the old flamingo gentleman’s house.
Feld: Give me a break... I’m astounded that you’re flinging yourself into this mess. Are you really going on this date?
Emma: Of course. I have to repay him for his kindness.
Emma: I’ll be upfront when I reject his grandson, so could you hold your anger until then?
Feld: ...Alright. I will stay out of this and not materialize.
Oscar: Emma, sorry we’re thrusting such an unpleasant job onto you. We’re counting on you this once.
The door opens as I nod.
Flamingo Gentleman: I’m terribly sorry for making you wait. Please, meet my grandson.
Young Flamingo Man: Heh~ So this is my prospective bride? She’s pretty cute. I think I’ll make her my fifth—no, third favorite mistress.
Emma: (H-He’s coming off strong right off the bat...!)
Feld: ......
Flamingo Gentleman: This young lady is Emma-san. And accompanying her is her older brother.
Oscar: I hope we can get along.
Young Flamingo Man: Ew. Like I’d ever want to get along with a guy as fluffy as you.
Feld: Ngh... Who does this guy think he is...!?
Feld’s fists are quivering, as if he’s about to throw a punch any second.
Flamingo Gentleman: Now, why don’t you go ahead and spend some time talking to my grandson alone?
Emma: Y-Yes, of course. Would you mind showing me around the mansion?
Young Flamingo Man: Sure! If you insist.
Oscar: And I will stay here to talk with this gentleman about fine cuisine.
Feld: ......
I exchange a glance with Oscar-san before leaving the room, an unmaterialized Feld trailing behind me.
—GALLERY—
Young Flamingo Man: Pretty neat, huh? This is my gramps’ collection. I’ll give you any one you want.
Feld: These aren’t yours to be handing out, you wretch...!
Young Flamingo Man: What do you think about this “Statue of the Beautiful Hero”? I mean, I’m obviously way more of a hero though.
Feld: I think you’re mistaking “hero” for “coward,” you swine...!
The young man’s attitude angers Feld second by second, but he still suppresses the urge to materialize.
Emma: (I’m glad I’m not alone with this guy, but I’m starting to get worried...)
Young Flamingo Man: ...You’ve been kinda jittery for a while now. What, are you that happy to be on a date with me?
Emma: Huh? No, it’s nothing like that—
Young Flamingo Man: Haha, are you embarrassed? Girls like you are a breath of fresh air.
Young Flamingo Man: You’ve got a nice figure, you listen to me with a smile... I might even make you my first favorite.
The young man brushes his wing against my leg, but then—
Feld: Keep your wandering hands off her! You little buffoon!!
Young Flamingo Man: UWAA!?
A materialized Feld aggressively slaps away the young man’s wing.
Young Flamingo Man: Wh-Where did you come from...? And who are you, anyway!?
Feld: I’m... erm, I’m... her other older brother!
Emma: Feld, hold on a second...!
Feld: I waited long enough. I can’t take this anymore! I will not idly sit by and watch!!
Feld: I was quietly listening all along—what is the matter with you!? You’ve done nothing but puff out your chest and boast about yourself the whole time!!
Feld: Not to mention all you seem to care about is your own convenience! It couldn’t be more obvious how uncomfortable Mis—my little sister is!!
Feld: You can’t read the room, and you’re disgustingly entitled! Take a minute to feel ashamed of yourself, you imbecile!!
Young Flamingo Man: E-EEEEK!!
Emma: Ah...! There he goes.
Feld: Hmph! Just a little shouting sends him running? Pathetic!
Feld: The mere thought of that man becoming your husband makes my blood boil! He is not qualified in the slightest!!
Emma: Um, we weren’t really planning to get married, remember?
Emma: (But I guess we did fulfill the old man’s wish... in a way.)
I head back to the guest room along with Feld, who’s still steaming with anger.

Tidbits from the Yumekuro artbook:
Cuit has been visiting Tsukiwatari's guild home a lot lately. He and Gran try to teach Itsuki how to cook. Godspeed to them
Both Cuit and Riche list "Kuchen's chocolate" as one of their favorite foods. Riche additionally also lists "Cuit's cooking"
Elma hates any spiders, isopods, basically any animal that has lots and lots of legs.
Searle dislikes people who bully fish
Adel's weakness is Merry Rose, Canaan's weakness is Volks. What is going on in Yume Tsumugi, haha
You've got Lykos and his dream of making a world where children can grow up peacefully, and Alex and his dream of becoming a true hero. Then there is Urbano (I want to take over the world) and Len (I want to become rich)
Shiharu's likes: People who pursue their dreams. Also people's tears
(Not so?) coincidentally, Alma's dislikes include Shiharu's punishments, and Daste's weakness includes Shiharu
The fairies' profile has a bit that describes how they show they trust you and imagining all of that is like imagining a group of stray cats, haha. Caprice will stare at you, Plow will actually keep his mouth shut and listen to you when you're talking, Navi shows he trusts you by pranking you, and then there is Mateo who will show you he trusts you by giving you a cute smile 🥹
The fairies all have a policy, or a point of view about life that they believe in. Fidel's is "There's no cure for stupid" haha

Welcome Toy Market ⚜︎ Map Interactions [EN Translation]
Fan-translations of the lil map chats from the Toy Market event 🧸 ft. Sion, Towa, Gui, and their respective fairies ✨
[Sion]
Sion: ...Slowly... Like this?
Towa: Sion-sama, you’re so hard at work making those toys. You’ve picked this up really nicely in such a short span of time.
Sion: No, I’ve still got a long way to go. Making these myself is what made me realize that. …Crafting by hand is really difficult.
I never realized that a single toy could take so much of a toll on you.
But I’m sure this is no match for the difficulties you face, as someone who handles automatas, or Gui, who builds magic tools. Right?
I can’t find the right words right now, but I guess what I mean is I really respect you all… Honestly, I just think it’s incredible.
Towa: It makes me happy to hear your praise, Sion-sama. But the value of a craft has nothing to do with how complicated the process is.
If you put your whole heart into it, that toy will be one of its kind, and that makes its value priceless. That’s what I think.
And I’m positive that that will be passed down to the one who ends up in possession of it. It will surely be cherished.
Sion: ......
...I see. Hearing that puts my mind at ease a little.
Towa: By the way, let’s backtrack to that comment about deepening your respect for Gui-sama...
He just passed by us. I think telling him directly would definitely facilitate communication between you.
Sion: !?
Gui: Did someone call me~?
Sion: ...Nobody did.
Gui: Huh? B-But, I could’ve sworn Towa-san just said the name “Gui.”
Sion: I just said that nobody called you.
Gui: Ee!? I-I’m sorry!
Towa: (Why did Sion-sama’s attitude change so abruptly? Human emotions really are so complicated...)
[Mateo]
Emma: Mateo, what do you say when a customer comes?
Mateo: Welcome…!
Many… toys! Toys… fun!
Emma: Excellent. Okay, and… Hello. May I have this doll?
Mateo: Yeah! …Ah…?
Next… what question?
Emma: ‘Is this for you, or would you like it gift-wrapped?’
Mateo: !! Right!
Agh… Talking to… customers… hard…
Emma: But you’ve gotten so much better since last time! Besides, all of us will be with you on the actual day, so don’t worry.
Mateo: Okay! Mateo… try hard!!
If I do… good job… make Sion happy?
Emma: Yes, he’ll be so happy!
Mateo: !! Mateo… try even… harder! Emma… thank you!!
Emma: You’re welcome. Okay, why don’t we take it from the top one more time?
Mateo: Yeah!
[Towa]
Emma: Towa, do you have a minute? I wanted to ask you something about toy-making…
Ah, Heinkel’s here too. Sorry, were you in the middle of something?
Heinkel: No, I’m just here to observe.
Emma: Observe?
Towa: I’m servicing my automata.
Emma: (Oh, that bear automata…)
Is that the one you always carry with you?
Towa: Yeah. I haven’t had the time to perform a proper maintenance on it lately.
Emma: (He has a really gentle look on his face…) You take such good care of them.
Towa: …Yes. They are, without question, very dear to me.
Heinkel: …Towa, is it alright if I could observe you one more time? After Emma finishes what she needs.
I’d like to be far more dependable at healing the ones dear to someone dear to me.
…Hm? I apologize. That was a rather confusing sentence.
Towa: Don’t worry, I understood you perfectly. I really appreciate how thoughtful you are, Heinkel-sama.
[Heinkel]
Platinum: Yo, Heinkel-sensei. Could you fix this broken toy for me? Towa and Gui weren’t available. They told me to come to you.
Heinkel: Mm…? I don’t mind, of course, but… Platinum. I’m having trouble believing you only want the toy fixed.
I figure there must be a reason for it…
Platinum: Oh, you’re pretty sharp. Yeah, you’re right. This guy could sell real high if it was fixed up some.
Heinkel: I see. That sounds more like you.
Platinum: What? Are you not gonna fix it ‘cause you don’t like that reason or somethin’?
Heinkel: Heh, don’t misunderstand me. My mission is to heal everything regardless of what the reason may be.
Even if you were to have malicious intentions, that will not prevent a mended toy from serving its purpose to me again.
Platinum: I don’t think you were tryin’ to do this, but that sentence is slicing me up like a knife.
But whatever. I’ll leave this with you. And I’m just saying this from a professional standpoint, but I think those toys would’ve preferred that over going unsold.
Heinkel: In some way or another, you have a very practical spirit… or maybe I should say you’re very business-minded. I don’t hate that in itself. I’ll most certainly take this for you.
(Platinum leaves)
Heinkel: Now… Where should I start?
So that this body you were born with may shine again, I will heal you with all of my spirit.
[Gui]
Boy: Thank you for the toy, Oniichan!
Sion: No problem, thank you for purchasing it. There are a lot of people around here, so make sure you don’t wander away from your parents, okay?
Boy: Okay! Bye-bye!
Gui: ......
Sion: Gui? What’s the matter?
Gui: Ah! It’s nothing, just… I was just noticing how gentle you sound when you talk to kids…
Sion: When you put it that way, you make it sound like I'm normally mean to you guys.
Gui: Ee!! Th-That’s not what I meant at all! But, I guess sometimes you are a little scary…!?
Sion: I don’t mean to be doing that. But is my attitude here proving your point? I apologize if I’ve ever hurt you.
Gui: N-No, no, no, no! I should be the one apologizing…!?
I was just a little jealous of hearing you talk so nicely…
Sion: ……..
I mean, I could try to force myself. But it’ll probably seem like I’m a completely different person.
If you’re fine with me turning into an angelic oniisan every time we talk, even back at the guild, then I’ll think about it.
Gui: ……
That doesn’t sound like it’d be good for your mental health, so I think I’ll decline…
Sion: ……Okay. I’ll try to watch my attitude next time we talk.
[Platinum]
Girl: Hey, Oniichan. What kind of toy is this kitty here?
Platinum: Oh ho, little girl. You have an excellent eye. That is the craftsmanship of the highly talented meister Towa.
Its cute factor is not the only thing it has going for it. If you press its belly just a smidge, like so——
Stuffed Cat Toy: Meow~
Girl: Wow!! It meowed! That’s so cool!
Platinum: Hahaha, isn’t it? I guarantee that your days would be so much more fun with this little friend to talk to.
Girl: Okay! I’ll take it please!
Platinum: Oh, thank you for your patronage. Make sure to brag about it to all your friends, alright?
Towa: Platinum-sama, how are things over h——?
…! You’ve already sold this much? This is a feat I could never accomplish.
Platinum: Ahh~ That’s because you’re missing a little something from your dialogue, Towa.
But you know, talking up a product’s strengths is one of the basics of business.
No matter how good a product you make, it’ll all go down the drain if it never falls into the hands of someone who’ll use it. You know?
Towa: ...Yes. Once you make something, it should end up serving someone. I really appreciate your help, Platinum. Thank you.
Platinum: No problem. You promised I’d get paid plenty, anyway.
Plus... I gotta make it clear to Gui and Emma once again that I’m a guy who knows what he’s doing.
Oh yeah, Towa. Let’s keep this teamwork up till the Toy Market’s over. Yeah?
Towa: Yes, let’s keep it up.

Yumekuro Artbook - Q&A (Magia Seminar)
>>> tsukiwatari ver. - yume tsumugi ver.
Est
Introductions: I’m Est, a magician. I teach at a guild called Magia Seminar. All my students are very hardworking and energetic though sometimes they fight… actually, quite often; but they do get along very well. Well, this is more of an introduction to my students than to me.
MC first impressions: Even now, when I think about it, I feel apologetic… I involved her in a fight between the students, and got her soaking as a result. She didn’t get angry, and I thought she was a very kind girl. She has a strong sense of responsibility and is quite enthusiastic. What worries me a little is how she seems to prioritise others over herself.
Givre first impressions: Fufu, the one student I can’t take my eyes off… I guess that’s how it is with him. Since I don’t have any siblings myself, I cannot quite grasp the depth of Givre’s feelings for MC… However, I do in part understand. I want to help him become a good older brother.
Meister you’re close with: Uhmm… although now I’ve been interacting with other Meisters a bit more, before the establishment of Magia Seminar I wasn’t very active (TN: He was on hiatus as a Meister I suppose)… so there is no one in particular I can point out. For now… that is.
Kai
Introductions: I’m Kai, a member of the magic guild Magia Seminar and a magical doctor! If you’re worried about your health, come to me anytime… Hah? I told you, I’m not a delinquent but a doctor!!
MC first impressions: A kind nee-san/older sister, I guess. Thinking back, I ended up frequently showing her a lot of my ugly sides over time… ahah. Both when we first met, and even now. She has a crazy amount of guts and always does her best to help other people. ‘S what I for real respect of her a lot.
Oboro first impressions: Oboro, huh? He’s a very knowledgeable guy. The way he says things is so fucking annoying, but he can teach you a lot of things. He keeps saying he’s physically weak but… one of my goals is to someday make Oboro perfectly healthy.
Meister you’re close with: My guildmate, Gui! …HAH? You’re sayin the other guy, Sion? That compound-fracture personality fella (TN: he literally uses the term 複雑骨折 which means compund fracture lol; he just means complex tho) is always looking for a fight. You just watch, I’ll definitely beat him by scoring higher than him in our next exam…!
Sion
Introductions: I’m Sion, a light magician from the magic guild, Magia Seminar. If you have any job requests, please contact the federation first. I will fulfil the request at the best of my abilities.
MC first impressions: I don’t really want to think of the first time we met, but… let’s see. She tried to sincerely face me even though I was acting weirdly edgy. Whenever I’m with her, I weirdly end up saying everything… I remember feeling very confused about this.
Mateo first impressions: Although he looks like a tough one on the outside, on the inside he’s like a small child. I know he’s trying his best to help out, but there are times when it’s a bit too much and it becomes a problem. You can’t take your eyes off him, for that.
Meister you’re close with: It’s Gui. What? The other student? …Kai, huh. We don’t get along well, and he keeps messing with me. Stop treating us like we come in a set.
Gui
Introductions: I’m Gui, a magic tool-maker belonging to the magic guild, Magia Seminar… Uhm… can you hear me properly? … Thank goodness. People say that I have a weak presence so… I was worried that maybe you couldn’t even see me right now…
MC first impressions: I thought she was a very capable guild keeper… since she started helping out, Professor Est seems to have received a huge helping hand as well. She listens to what I have to say with a big smile on her face… and she’s so cute——AHHH, please pretend you didn’t hear that just now…
Platinum first impressions: P-platinum-san… I was a little scared at the pressure… I really appreciate it when people praise me, but… the way he perceives things, or rather, the way he thinks, is different from mine… however, I’m glad he’s interested in magic tools. With Platinum-san, I will surely make good magic tools… well, that’s what I think of it…
Meister you’re close with: Fufu. Of course, I spend a lot of time with Kai and Sion from my same guild; I think we’re good friends! …Also, uhh… I have some interactions with people from the Mechanics Guild. In particular, I started talking to Towa-san after a certain incident… we sometimes talk about the development of magic tools based on automata.

a canvas embroidered with feelings
Adel hardly has any time outside of his schedule, perhaps it was due to the fact that he does all the work himself — from cutting the fabric to sewing all the pieces together. What he certainly didn't expect was to take in an inexperienced assistant who barely knew how to thread a needle.
— Adel x Fem!Reader, 5.8k WC, She/her pronoun usage
"decisions, decisions…"
Difficult as it was, Adel always preferred to work alone rather than rely on other people and put the quality of his work in jeopardy. He took pride in the fact that he always delivers to his client's whims and needs, often enough, he went beyond their expectations. Though at what cost? His schedule is constantly packed as he tries to chase deadlines, and new commissions are coming in as soon as he finishes one. It was a vicious cycle that made him terribly busy.
Time used for other matters made him think, 'I could be using this time to cut the fabric' or 'the stitches have yet to be done… The deadline is in a few days. His mind was constantly thinking of how to maximize his time and it wasn't an exaggeration if someone said that he was beyond dedicated to his craft. Though some unavoidable circumstances forced him out of his workshop. Like attending a party, for example.
A reputable noble had invited him to a party at his manor to celebrate his daughter's birthday. Adel vaguely remembered that the dress to be used on that occasion was a commission he completed around two to three weeks prior to the invitation (but he could hardly remember who it was for if it weren't for the small note thanking him in the envelope, not when he was already thinking of the pile of upcoming work he has to finish).
If it weren't for the fact that this particular client was someone of high status, along with Merryrose's constant bugging, he would've scrapped the invitation without another thought and continued with his work. He weighed the options and eventually arrived at the conclusion that perhaps attending this party wouldn't be all that bad. If he felt like it, maybe he could just drop by to give his greetings and leave as soon as possible under the excuse that he had pressing matters to attend to.
That's how he ended up in this situation.
He was all dressed up in white, as per the invitation said about the dress code, it was something he threw together at the last minute when he found out all his party suits were either black or some random colour he only used once for certain occasions he could barely remember. He had a wine glass in hand though he took no more than two sips to avoid getting tipsy, he wouldn't be able to hold a pair of scissors properly after the party if that was the case. He looked at his watch periodically, counting down the minutes before he could leave the party.
Three… Two… One—
"Adel!" It was an unfamiliar voice that interrupted his little countdown. He turned his head to find the one who called out his name and was met by an elderly man. It took him a minute to fully recognize him as a renowned designer from another country, he remembered that he specialized in traditional clothing and designs based on them – it was one of the reasons why he became so popular even in other countries. They've met on multiple occasions but their conversations were nothing more than simple greetings and small talk. "It's a surprise to see you here, you always struck me as the type to avoid these kinds of parties."
'It's true,' he wanted to reply. He tried to sugarcoat it: "Well, I don't think it's a bad idea to attend these parties once in a while. There's a different kind of joy you get when you see people wearing the clothes you made, don't you think so too?"
"Haha! Truly, it's a wonderful feeling. I was put in charge of creating the pattern for the decorations and the host was kind enough to extend an invitation to me." His eyes twinkled with delight. "I heard you were the one who designed the dress. Your work is stunning as usual."
"You flatter me too much," Adel shook his head. "I simply delivered what my client asked of me — it's as simple as that."
"Haha! Is that so?" Adel thought that the conversation would end right there and that he could finally leave after bidding goodbye. What he didn't expect, though, was for him to make a sudden request. "Say, would you do this old man a favour and listen to his request?"
'A request?' Adel almost furrowed his eyebrows and donned a frown. Certainly, they weren't close enough for any favours or requests — at least, in Adel's book. But he kept his neutral expression and looked at him carefully, he considered granting his request—whatever it was—given that it wasn't anything too absurd. It would be rude to turn him down outright and the last thing Adel needed was unnecessary rumours floating around him.
"... What kind of request?"
"I have a daughter around your age."
Somehow, he already knew he wasn't going to like where this conversation was going.
"She's passionate about designing and sewing, you see… I guess you can say she takes after me in that aspect, haha! However, I feel rather… unqualified to teach her. These old bones don't work as they used to and I plan on retiring once I'm finished with everything I need to get done." He let out a sigh, "if it isn't too much trouble, could you take her under your wing for a few weeks?"
"... I see." Truthfully, he felt like he was being driven mad. He started regretting ever coming to the party in the first place, this sort of scenario would've never happened if he learned to mind his own business. Most people who knew how to be polite would agree and just get it over with but, unfortunately, Adel wasn't like most people. If he could, he would coldly turn down that offer but that would mean he'd be causing a scene — in front of so many people, no less. He thought about it carefully, weighing the pros and cons.
He fell silent for a moment, even the old designer was starting to get worried that he accidentally offended him. "Three weeks. I'll take care of her for exactly three weeks, nothing more and nothing less. I suppose that's fine with you?"
"Three weeks is plenty. Thank you for complying with such a selfish request, you have my deepest gratitude." There was something off with the way the old designer spoke to him, or maybe the lack of sleep was finally catching up to him. "I'll send her to you at a later date, I'll write a letter beforehand."
"It's no problem. Consider it a favour done between friends," Adel waved his hand. He sealed his fate. "I look forward to meeting her."
"betrayed by his own expectations"
Adel completely forgot about his prior engagement with the old designer. It was as if his brain purposely wiped it off his mind as soon as he got back from the party and started working on clothes once more. He was busy, far too busy to the point that everything else seemed like a blur to him. Overworking wasn't anything new to him but he learned the hard way that he shouldn't wait for the worst to hit him before stopping lest he wanted Volks to watch over him like a hawk.
He couldn't remember how many hours of sleep he managed to get and his calorie intake thus far but what he understood is that his body needed—demanded—to rest immediately if he didn't want the quality of his work to suffer. He wasn't the type to give his clients a half-assed piece of work, he took pride in the fact that each and every piece is carefully made.
That was the only reason why he remembered that the old designer's daughter was to arrive today. After deciding he should rest for a little while, he went to the guild's common room and threw himself into the velvet seat without a second thought. Was it peaceful and quiet? Hardly. The moment Adel tried to close his eyes, Canaan suddenly popped out of nowhere with a pile of letters in his hands and dropped them all on top of the coffee table.
"So many letters… What for? Are they from your assistants again?" Adel massaged his temples. It wasn’t uncommon for Canaan’s assistants to send him a bunch of letters, begging him to come back to the workshop and finish his work.
"Well… Actually, they're all for you." Adel let out a groan as he sat up straight and started going through the letters one by one.
"Commission, commission, commission, invitation, advertisement, and more commission requests…" He absentmindedly listed down the categories of the letters he received and organized them accordingly. He came across one envelope with a floral pattern and a sudden sense of familiarity struck him as he paused, "this letter… was from a week ago."
"Oh, that.” Canaan’s lips fell into a thin line as he tried thinking of an excuse why he only gave the letter to him now when it was sent a week ago. “I was supposed to give it to you as soon as it came since it looked pretty important, but you were so cranky I didn’t want to bother you and have you getting angry at me.”
Adel didn’t waste another second on Canaan and quickly opened the envelope. Sure enough, it was from the old designer — no wonder it felt so familiar, the floral pattern was one of his famous works. The letter read:
Dear Adel,
Forgive me for sending this letter so late after our last meeting. I had to talk to my daughter and make the necessary arrangements, unfortunately, she will only be able to arrive there after a week upon receiving this letter. You’ll have to excuse her behaviour, she has a tendency to talk casually around people and I fear it might offend you — she means no harm. She’s a good child and I trust you will treat and teach her well. I will come to get her after three weeks; for three weeks she is yours to deal with. I wish you luck.
‘Yours to deal with.’ Adel lingered on those words, it made it sound as if his daughter was a lot of trouble and dumped it all into him for three weeks to catch a break. If that were the case, he’ll just give her a bone to chew on while he works. He had no plans on dealing with troublemakers.
But more importantly — it was exactly a week since the letter first arrived to him. Which meant that his daughter was to arrive today. Oh, how Adel wanted to smack Canaan for keeping this from him for a whole week, now he has to rush and get himself ready to greet her. His hair was a mess and his clothes were dishevelled, it would be unsightly to present himself like this. He mumbled a jab at Canaan before standing up, “really… you just had to show me now.”
“Better late than never, I say.” Canaan winked.
“Ugh…”
Rushed footsteps entered the room and before Adel could turn to look at who it was, their voice was a dead giveaway when they started shouting. “Adel! I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” it was Merryrose. “I was so sure that you’d be in your workshop but to think that you’re actually here… It’s kinda unsettling.”
“Oh, shut it, will you? Just cut to the chase, why were you looking for me?”
“Right, right. Someone is looking for you, she says she was sent here to be your assistant.”
“Huh!? She’s here already?”
“Oh shoot, you know her? And here I was telling her that you don’t take assistants." He winced. "Talk about embarrassing.”
He had little time to make a snide remark since he was far too busy running to a nearby mirror and tidying himself as much as can before greeting his soon-to-be temporary assistant. Merryrose took the liberty of leaving the room to fetch his guest and guide them into the common room. Adel cursed him in his head, he was sure that Merryrose was purposely trying to rush him. Soon enough, he heard two pairs of footsteps down the hallway — What was up with his fellow guild members constantly screwing up things for him?
He cleared his throat and took one last look in the mirror before facing the newly arrived guest. Once he saw her, he couldn't help but notice the striking similarities shared between her and her father. She looked presentable and certainly didn't give off a strong impression judging from looks alone but he knew not to judge a book too much by its cover.
What struck him as odd was her hands. If she was into sewing, as her father said, then clearly her hands wouldn't be so smooth. As much as Adel was experienced in his field, he can't help but have a few cuts here and there after some mishaps along with some small blisters here and there — he didn't think he had the most flattering hands given his work but he always covered it up with bandages on his busier days when he's more prone to mistakes.
"You must be the one my father has told me about. Adel, right?" She introduced herself shortly after Adel slowly nodded in response to her question.
"Take a seat," Adel urged her to take a seat on one of the sofas in the common room and drove Canaan and Merryrose away when all they were doing was watching; he didn't want any unnecessary distractions. "So I heard from your father that you have a passion for designing and sewing, I'm assuming that's true?"
She shook her hands violently, denying those claims — whether out of embarrassment or actual denial or something that didn't fall under those two, he didn't know. "No, no–! I'm sure my father was just exaggerating, he likes to do that — he always takes everything so seriously… I'm sure this is just a passing interest."
Adel raised an eyebrow, he was starting to feel kind of irked. "I'm not sure if you mean that or not but I'm not the type to cut corners when it comes to my craft, so I hope this merely being a passing interest doesn't drag down the quality of my work. I plan on assigning you to become my temporary assistant, after all."
"Sort of like an internship?"
"Exactly like an internship."
"Actually, Sir Adel—"
"Adel is fine."
"I don't know how to sew."
"What?"
"I have exactly zero knowledge. I don't think my being your assistant will work very well. I'm pretty sure it'll just drag your work's quality down if my hands touch it."
"Then why would your father send you here with zero knowledge?"
"Maybe it's because he wanted you to teach me how to sew instead." She looked away, "he thinks anything my hands touch is going to get ruined given how horrendous I am with a thread and needle. He's already given up on teaching me, he probably pinned his hopes onto you."
It made zero sense to him why anyone would send someone like her his way — everything just kept piling up. First, her father was under the wrong impression that his daughter was passionate about this sort of thing and asked him to take her under his wing. Second, she turned out to be super inexperienced. Third, the actual request and purpose for this whole visit was to teach her how to sew from the very basics. Fourth, she said she didn't even know how to thread a needle (she asked him what threading a needle meant).
He was finally feeling the headache settling down. He was seriously so baffled by the situation that he was left speechless and a little breathless as if he just ran a marathon. The first solution that popped into his head was to send her back home. "Okay, you know what? You can just go back home and tell your father I'll have to turn down his request after all. I'll send him a formal letter right after."
"Wait, wait, wait! You're sending me home? Just like that?"
"Listen, I've got a tight schedule and I have no time to be teaching you every single thing starting from the basics. Besides, wasn't this just a passing interest of yours? If it isn't important to you, I think it's better to send you home rather than waste both of our time."
Adel turned around and got ready to leave until he felt a tug on his sleeve, he was forced to face her once more. He was surprised to see a determined look in her eyes, she said, "I'm not lying when I say I want to learn. I may have no prior knowledge nor do I have the skills but I can promise you that I'll dedicate myself to learning. You don't have to be super involved — just a few pointers, tips, and maybe some exercises will help me."
Adel paused, "your father can do that for you."
"He was never a good teacher."
"And what made you think I am?"
She smiled, "call it a hunch."
"That's an illogical argument," he let out a small chuckle. He wasn't sure what came over him, the most logical option was still sending her home but after her little declaration, he found himself hesitating. He was still busy, and it was going to stay that way for a few more weeks. He expected an assistant to help him — he gets his workload lessened and the assistant gets to watch his techniques and how he works. He thought it would be a win-win situation but now, it was more like… he teaches her and that's it. It only benefitted one party.
'It's a favour,' he thought and he couldn't help but let out a deep sigh. He signed himself up for this and he thought that the look in her eyes wasn't bad, it may be worth a shot to teach her.
"Tomorrow. 10 o'clock in the morning sharp, don't be late."
"i wanna take it to the basics"
He hasn't slept at all since yesterday. Usually, he can last a few days without sleep (his longest record was 4 days, and he remembered passing out as soon as Volks rushed into his workshop to reprimand him) before collapsing. It was odd that he already felt as if he was about to collapse after one all-nighter. He tried thinking of various ways to maximize his time, especially now that he has an apprentice to teach. It would be easier if she knew the basics but she didn't, so they're going to have to start at the very bottom.
He heard the doorknob turn and saw her figure come in, eyeing every single thing in the workshop in awe. It was short-lived when Adel snapped her out of her thoughts. "Quit dawdling around. Let's start your lessons, I have much to do today."
"Y-Yes!" She gathered herself and walked towards the table Adel was at. There was a small container containing thread, scissors, and needles — all of them the same size. She was thinking that he was going to teach her how to do some basic stitches but her expectations were crushed when he opened his mouth to explain.
"There are exactly 50 needles in this container. I want you to learn how to thread a needle and make a knot. You have to get used to it if you're planning on sewing, you're not allowed to use a needle threader — you're going to have to do them all on your own. That's your first assignment." Adel picked up a needle and thread to show a small demonstration, he managed to get the thread into the hole in one try and made a knot to secure it. She asked him to repeat the knot once more, slowly this time, because he did it too fast.
"... All 50?" Frankly, she thought it wasn't going to be all that difficult. How hard could threading a needle be? All she has to do is put a thread into the needle's hold, right? She'll be over with this in no time.
"All 50." Adel nodded, he turned around and picked up a pair of scissors and started cutting fabric at another table. He didn't bother giving her another glance as he added: "Let me know once you're done."
She sat down and picked up a needle. She grabbed the spool of thread and cut an appropriate length, nothing too short and nothing too long. She tried putting the thread into the hole — it entered the hole but once she tried pulling it, it split into two.
No worries, I can just try again. She thought.
30 minutes have passed and she's only managed to successfully do at least 8. It turned out to be more difficult than she thought, especially when she had to do all of them one after the other. It required concentration she didn't prepare for but, slowly but surely, her hands and eyes started getting more adept at threading. Another hour passed and she was almost done with the 50 needles, and when she was finally done, she called out to Adel with a proud smile. "I'm done!"
Adel turned to look at her and dropped what he was previously doing to look at her work. He scrutinized them all one by one, and she couldn't help but think how strange this whole situation was.
"It's a little sloppy," he said. Though a small smile graced his features when he picked up one. "But it'll do."
"... Then—!"
"I'll be teaching you some basic stitches next, make sure to pay attention."
"Yes!"
A few days passed by with this routine. She would wake up and go into his workshop and learn how to sew from him, he'll give her something to do before she leaves and she'll do it in her free time — the cycle repeats over and over again. Adel can see with no doubt that she wasn't lying when she said she sincerely wanted to learn, he couldn't help but wonder where that drive came from. She was a fast learner, her father must've been such a terrible teacher if he couldn't manage to teach his daughter this much.
It was another day in his workshop, there was a dress he was to deliver tomorrow at exactly noon. Because of that, he was staying in his workshop later than he initially planned to add the finishing touches to the dress. It was another debutante dress, the client was the daughter of a famous marquis from another kingdom — she requested that the dress be adorned with the finest jewels. It took him a while to get it finished because he was forced to work with Canaan and Volks. Volks was fine, the problem was Canaan since it took every ounce of effort to get him to finish assigned work on time.
He was so engrossed in what he was doing that he almost jumped when he heard something being placed down on his table. He looked up and he was surprised to see that it was his apprentice, she was holding a mug of what seemed to be coffee — he assumed that the mug she placed down on his table was also coffee.
She shot him a worried look. "You're up so late."
"I have to finish this." He sighed. If he could, he would've gone straight to sleep. "What brings you here?"
"I was… worried about you. I haven't been here for very long but I noticed that you tend to overwork and push yourself. Honestly, I think it's amazing how you can do that on top of dealing with me but isn't it bad for you?"
"What can I do? It comes with the job." He sighed. "This work is demanding… but I suppose it's just as rewarding. It makes all the effort worth it."
"... I see. That's nice, isn't it? Having something you're passionate about, I mean."
"Don't you have any hobbies or anything?"
"I do! But… I can't really say that I'm passionate about them." She sighed, "it's the same for sewing. I don't have plans on making clothes like you and my father do but…"
"Then, why do you learn?"
"The reason is a little embarrassing. I'm afraid you might laugh."
"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. Seeing you try your best is enough to tell me you're not half-assing this, at least." He picked up the mug and took a sip, "thanks for the coffee."
She smiled. "You're welcome. You should head to bed soon, though, I wouldn't want to see you collapse."
He let out a small chuckle. "Don't worry about me, I'm used to it. You, on the other hand… Go to bed. Our lessons start early tomorrow."
Somehow, it feels like they've gotten a little closer.
"abrupt goodbyes"
Ever since that night, Adel felt as if there was a significant change in their relationship. They bantered more often now and made pleasant conversations, though he made sure to not let that cloud his teaching. Though, it was a little weird to him since it wasn't long ago that his opinion of her was a little lower than favourable.
Though what happened next was unexpected — he got a commission from a VIP client last minute. They needed it as soon as possible and what Adel had to go through to deliver was akin to hell. He barely slept, ate, and went out of his workshop. He was so engrossed with work that he couldn't find time to teach her anymore and sent her away. There was a time that he almost snapped at her, telling her not to bother him when all she wanted to do was to show him something she was proud of making.
He cursed that client inside his head. His body felt heavy, and his head had a splitting headache — he felt feverish. He could barely concentrate, his movements were sluggish. He knew exactly what was happening, he was finally reaching his limit after working nonstop for a few days. He set down his scissors and let out a sigh, trying to ground himself until he heard the door open and finally let himself collapse.
~•~
What happened after that was a blur. He collapsed and the last thing he can remember was someone shouting his name. His eyes slowly fluttered open, and the first thing he saw was the familiar ceiling of his room. It took him a moment to process things before the weight of reality finally hit him. He sat up violently and looked for any indication of date and time — he couldn't have slept through the delivery date, right?
From the corner of his eye, he caught her figure sitting on one of the seats, holding what looked like an embroidery hoop. She looked just as startled as he was but quickly regained her composure as Adel questioned her immediately: "What date is it today—!?"
"Adel, you really shouldn't be worrying about that right now. Not in your current state."
"Just tell me!"
"It's been a day since you collapsed. Don't worry, Volks already contacted your client and got an extension for you."
"He did?"
"Mhm."
He let out a sigh of relief. A part of him felt bad but he was more relieved than regretful. Going back to the current situation, Adel felt like his apprentice was acting a little cold towards him — her responses were a bit dry, he noticed. He couldn't help but notice that she seemed to be embroidering something, and her hands were covered with bandages. He decided to ask: "What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to embroider a handkerchief."
"You like embroidery?"
"Remember what we talked about the other night? You asked me the reason why I learn. It's because I like embroidering. I'm not good at it, so I thought learning a thing or two from you might help me."
"I've been teaching you the wrong things then. Why didn't you tell me?"
"It's because I'm so terrible at it that my father even gave up on me. I was afraid you’d laugh if I showed you.” She stood up and approached his bed, placing down the embroidery hoop on his bedside table as if to show him her efforts.
He picked it up; he could barely make out an image. “Is this supposed to be a flower?”
“I-I told you I’m terrible!” She flushed. “But yes, it’s supposed to be a flower.”
“It’s fine. Everyone has to start somewhere, including me.” Adel picked up the thread and needle as he started embroidering. She looked at him with interest, wondering if he was going to fix the mess of a flower she made. Much to her surprise, he started making smaller flowers around it instead. “There’s nothing to laugh about — I can see that you’re trying your best.”
“You think so?”
He let out a small chuckle. Now that he was free from the clutches of work and deadlines for a moment, she swore that Adel looked the gentlest she’s ever seen him.“I used to be terrible at embroidery when I was younger. People could barely make out the image I wanted to make when I showed them. It’s all about practice — as long as you don’t give up, you’re bound to succeed one day.”
Adel didn’t know the reason why he was so talkative. Maybe it was the fever talking, or maybe it was the fact that he saw himself in her that he couldn’t help but blurt out the things he usually wouldn’t say to a mere apprentice. He felt comfortable. “There.” He handed the hoop back to her and she couldn’t help but let out a small giggle. “Is there something funny?”
“Seeing my terrible handiwork next to yours is a little funny. It’s like a toddler and a professional made it side by side, it’s pretty endearing.”
“You’ll learn how to do that soon enough, I believe.” He sighed, “we still have more lessons—”
“Actually, I’m about to go home in a few hours.” She took the handkerchief from the hoop and folded it neatly before placing it in his hands, “I wanted to give this to you as a token of my gratitude for looking out for me all this time.”
“Huh?” He felt his heart drop. It was strange. Why was he so disappointed? “Are the three weeks already up?”
“Unfortunately,” she sounded just as disappointed as he was. “I received a letter from my father yesterday that I’m to be picked up around noon tomorrow. If I’m being honest, I wanted to disappear without another word to you after you ignored me for days because I’m petty.” She pinned her gaze somewhere else, a little embarrassed that she just admitted that. “But it didn’t sit right with me in the end. So I decided to come over and express my gratitude when you suddenly collapsed in your workshop.”
“Aha! So it was you who found me.”
“Don’t sound so happy you figured that out! I was seriously worried about you.” Her lips formed a thin line, “you ought to take care of yourself more.”
“... I’ll keep that in mind next time.” It was strange how he was saying this, “but I can’t make any promises.”
“That much is enough. I know how important your work is to you, I just wanted to give you a little reminder.” She picked up her stuff and prepared to head out. Again, Adel found it strange how disappointed he was seeing her go — he almost wanted to call out to her and tell her to stay a bit longer. No, no, what am I even thinking of?
“Then, goodbye. I hope to see you again some other time.”
“... Yes. Me too.”
Silence enveloped the room once she left and Adel never thought he’d be uncomfortable with it. He looked at the handkerchief she left him once more and examined their handiworks side by side; he smiled, only a little bit. Endearing — that was the word he was looking for. He didn’t know how long it’ll be before they interact once more but somewhere in his heart he wished that by some sort of play by fate that it'd be soon. Once again, he thought it was a strange thought to think of but… it wasn’t unpleasant.
He ran a finger over the embroidery.
“I suppose teaching her wasn’t all that bad… If she wants me to take her back someday, perhaps I’ll think about it.” He paused. “Still… she left so soon. Couldn’t she have shown a bit of hesitation, at least? Argh, what am I even talking about? This is pointless.”
He threw the handkerchief over his bed and a piece of paper slipped out from underneath the folds. Curiosity washed over him as he picked it up. “What’s this? Did she slip this in here while she was folding it?”
It held a string of numbers. It didn’t take long for Adel to connect the dots together.
There’s no way. Why would she—? He felt his face getting a bit warm. He thought he might be misunderstanding the intentions behind the number but it had a little heart next to it so surely it was true to some degree, right? No, no, that couldn’t be it. She showed no signs of interest… is it because I never gave her my personal contact so she decided to give hers instead?
He thought of throwing it away but, for some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to do it so he shoved it in his drawer and never looked at it again. But no matter how much he tried to forget about it—
It was always stuck in the back of his mind.
— I actually have a soft spot for characters that know how to sew and an idea came to me in a dream. Conveniently enough, Adel was a tailor and he fit the idea perfectly <3 cousgshs I don't actually know shit about sewing. My experience at most is attending a workshop at a local church and learning how to sew a button into the fabric. Or maybe the apron we were required to make when I was in third grade. Most of the stuff said here are my own delusions and not backed up by canon.
— I wanted to make Adel really... dense(?) here if that's the right word. I thought it would be fun if I wrote an MC that takes all the initiative rather than the other way around 🤧 Adel is married to his work but it's funny thinking of him constantly thinking of you and doesn't get any work done LOL you'd be ruining his life but it's a new experience for him and he doesn't necessarily hate it <3

Feld ⟡ Wonder Tea Party (01)
[XX] [02] [03] [04] [05] [06] [07]
“A Day in the Land of Wonders”
—WONDERMARE, THE LAND OF WONDERS - CHRONOPLUME—
Emma: We’ve tried asking around the town, but it doesn’t seem like anyone knows how to leave this country...
Feld: I wanted to leave here as soon as possible... Agh, my blood is boiling!
You see, we didn’t come to the Land of Wonders by choice—
Up until just a few hours ago, we were supposed to be at Édouard Castle.
Between drinks and merrymaking, we were grappling with a request given to us by some royal family: to put together a tea party.
But then, we were abruptly pulled into an irresistible sleep, and woke up to find ourselves lost in the Land of Wonders.
Rouge: So it sounds like this “Alice” is our best bet to finding our way home?
Emma: Yes. People have said that all kinds of strange things have been happening here ever since Alice arrived.
Volks: What do you say we split up to search for her whereabouts?
Oscar: No objections on my end. Given that time flows unpredictably, let’s plan to regroup here after the third shift between day and night.
Oscar: Although, they say the terrain tends to often rearrange itself. We can’t say for certain whether we’ll be able to meet up again, but we have no other option.
Rouge: Well, see ya later~
Volks: Be careful, everyone.
Emma: Okay, we should get going too... ah, woah!
As soon as I’d taken a step forward, dozens of little chicks began falling from the sky.
Emma: I-It’s raining chicks...?
Feld: Egh! Even the weather is full of nonsense...!
Oscar: I’m very curious about the taste of eggs laid by Land of Wonders chickens. Should I bring some home to raise them?
Feld: Oscar! Knock it off, leave them alone!!
(Feld materializes)
Feld: And you chicks! Oscar and Mistress are not your parents! Shoo, shoo!
The chicks crowd around Oscar and I for a moment, before forming a straight line and marching off somewhere.
Emma: Um, as I was saying—wah!?
Feld & Oscar: Mistress!? / Emma!
All of a sudden, the ground transforms into slippery ice. Feld catches me just as I lose my balance.
Feld: ...That was close. Glad you didn’t hit your head.
Emma: Th-Thank you.
Feld: Good grief... curious, curious, curious!! This land is so curious, it’s overdoing it!!
Oscar: The Land of Wonders certainly lives up to its name.
Oscar: I’d like nothing more than to take my time indulging in all the strange cuisine this land has to offer, but finding Alice must be our priority right now.
Emma: With the way things are going, we’ll have a hard time just making our way through the town...
??: Oh my, young lady and company. Something is troubling you, I take it?
Turning in the direction of that voice, we see an old, gentlemanly flamingo, dressed in a fine tuxedo.
Feld: ...There’s really nothing impossible in this land, is there?
When we explain that we’re looking for someone named Alice, the elderly gentleman’s face lights up.
Flamingo Gentleman: I do believe I can help you with that.
Flamingo Gentleman: In exchange... perhaps you could fulfill a request of my own.
Emma: We’ll do our best to help you if we can!
Flamingo Gentleman: You have my utmost gratitude. I’m terribly sorry to be asking so much, but—
Flamingo Gentleman: Young lady, would you be willing to go on a date with my grandson?
Feld & Oscar & Emma: Hah? / Hm? / Huh...?
Emma: A date!?

When They Wonder Why You Chose Them - 2
Day 2! It's time for the second round! Ⴚტ⊙▂⊙ტჂ
----------------------------------------
Featuring: Members of the Royals' Purveyor Guild | Yume Tsumugi
Type: Headcanons
Prompt: Each character musing over why did you pick them to be your first partner in this journey
Warning: Pre-Game Launch Character Assumptions, Mentions of Body Modification (for Merry Rose's part)
----------------------------------------
The thing is, Canaan knows that he’s a handful.
He’s under no illusion that he isn’t. He’s well aware of what he’s like, knows the kind of whispers being exchanged behind his back, of the gazes that track his back no matter where he goes.
He’s the kind of man who’ll expect you to go with his flow or to get lost. He starts a ruckus every now and then, his reasons for each one undisclosed because shouldn’t it be obvious enough?
And, in spite of all of this, you still chose him.
He doesn’t know whether or not you’ve caught word of the rumors spiraling behind him, but, in the grand scale of things, that hardly matters because every trait of his beneath his smile should have pushed you away, should have made you back off.
But the fact that you didn’t, that you still don’t, is what throws him off. And when you tell him why, he finds himself unsure now of how to handle you anymore.
You linger by his side most of the time, shadowing his steps as he does his job, your eyes wide as you watch his magic curl around pieces of metal and stones to create a ring just as beautiful as the rest sitting on plush cushions for his customers.
You show appreciation for each one of his works, fingers hovering over the air above the rings as if hesitant to lay even a single touch on them.
It’s during one of those moments, where he’d just finished a ring and presented it to you for your perusal, that an idea comes to him as he sees you admire his work.
He doesn’t commit to it completely, since he wants to keep it a secret from you. He does it on the side in between requests and when you’re much too busy with other matters to sneak a peek. It takes weeks for him to finish, his meticulousness to blame, but as he inspects his latest creation once more, he supposes that it was time well spent.
His efforts are rewarded when he shows you the ring and he sees how instantly your eyes brighten. Something like satisfaction floods sweetly into his mouth when he slips it on your finger and tells you that it’s yours and your expression transforms into one that he’s never seen before.
Later, when you ask him why, his neck feels hot when he tries to nonchalantly pass it off as something casual.
“Isn’t it obvious? It just feels wrong to me that someone this close to me isn’t wearing any of my pieces. Hmm, that just gave me an idea. What do you think about matching ones?”
----------------------------------------
To Adel, you choosing him is both an opportunity and a threat to his line of business.
With you around, he finds himself with another pair of helping hands. Though you don’t possess the same skill as he does when it comes to weaving magic into the seams of fabric, you listen well enough when he asks you to get something or to fill up an order for another bolt of this and that.
However, it’s the fact that you chose him to guide you certainly adds another set of responsibilities to his growing list. A list that definitely did not need another item on it, yet here the two of you are.
Still, if he were to weigh benefits against the drawbacks, he would begrudgingly admit, at least only to himself, that he was certainly getting more of the former.
Lately, he finds that his productivity has been higher than ever in your presence and he see why. You’ve been accomplishing the tasks needed for preparation, allowing him to place his undivided attention on the actual design and craft. Furthermore, he doesn’t have to worry about forgetting to eat since more often than not, you come by with food on clockwork.
In a way, if he had to compare you to something, then it would be a soothing balm. A walking and talking soothing balm that eased his nerves that frayed whenever he felt daunted by the expectations he’d placed on himself.
It occurs to him, as he’s in the middle of needlework, if you’re getting just as much as he is in this…relationship between the two of you.
And so he’d asked you, in a moment of curiosity and concealed unease, if you were truly amenable to your current situation with him.
You’d paused, having not expected his question, but a certain kind of look had appeared on your face before you placed your hand atop his and told him, in no uncertain terms, just why did you stick by him and why do you continue to do so.
He’d by lying to himself if he said that he wasn’t shaken to the core by your resolve, with how you’d stared straight into his eyes. Even up to now, where he’s supposed to be concentrating on the makings of an evening gown in front of him, his mind keeps straying to that one moment.
Before he’s even aware of his actions, he’s already reaching out for a sheet of paper and charcoal, a design coming to life in his head and pouring out through the tips of his fingers.
His inspiration? Well, who else is there?
“I was wondering if you perhaps you’d want to accompany me to one of my past client’s parties? Ah, don’t worry about what you’ll wear. I’ve already prepared something for you.”
----------------------------------------
The first time Volks had laid eyes on you, a slight prickle of something had surfaced at the back of his mind. It was the same kind of feeling that arose whenever somebody would present an unrivalled quality of gem to him, or when the person he was talking to truly was telling the truth no matter how unconvincing their tale might have been.
Basically, it was his instincts telling him that you would be a worthwhile individual to befriend.
So, when you’d chosen him out of the other Meisters, he was only all too pleased to go along with your whims.
After all, he now has a solid excuse to seek you out whenever he wanted to.
His intuition is once again proven true when, after quite some time, he can say for sure now that your company is something irreplaceable.
There’s a unique charm about you, much like a gem with a magnificent clarity, that keeps drawing gaze towards you, beckoning him to listen to whatever came out of your mouth.
From past conversations with you, he learns how just how dedicated you are to your aspirations, the kinds of food you’d prefer whenever the two of you would catch lunch together, and your concerns for an uncertain future.
He’s sure that you probably know just as much about him, and it’s because he knows that he has your trust and that you have his, he is always ready to lend you a hand if the time comes and you’re unable to shoulder everything weighing you down.
Eventually, rather than seeking your company for the sake of befriending you, he does so because he wants to, missing your presence whenever you aren’t there.
He’s aware, on some level, that you feel the same way.
After all, he can see how you gravitate towards him in the same way that he does, your hands brushing his every now and then during a stroll, and the close proximity between the two of you that only seems to shorten with each passing day.
Had you felt what he’d felt when you’d seen him for the first time? Or was it something else that drew your life into his? Whatever the answer may be, he’s just glad that he’s able to have this with you.
“Hmmmm, hmm, hmm. Oh? Ah, sorry, I just thought that this gem would look nice against your hair. But then again, maybe it would look best on your wrist...Hmm!"
----------------------------------------
Curious as he is to know of your intentions for choosing him, Merry Rose understands that everyone has a right to their own secrets. So long as you don’t pry into his, he won’t ask for any of yours.
Yet, over the course of knowing you, of seeing what makes you smile, what drives you to tears, and what pushes you to anger—
He finds his grasp on his secrets gradually weakening.
When he realizes this, he’s torn between letting them slip free from him or pulling them even closer to his heart where nobody else could see them. The time he spends mulling over it is meaningless because, in the end, all it has to take is you reaching out for his arm, this look on your face that sends his thoughts into a jumble, and asking if everything’s alright.
He doesn’t blurt everything out at the spot, of course, but it’s seeing you concerned for him, seeing that you care, that really makes it feel as if this was all just inevitable.
He mentions the experiences he’d had in the past every now and then, lets himself feel vulnerable in front of you during the bad days, and lets you trace the vines mapped out underneath his skin.
Your touch feels like fire against his skin, and the goosebumps they leave in their trail remind him of the bubbles that form occasionally when different chemicals are mixed together in one beaker.
When he sees the questions in your eyes but the restraint in the firm line of your mouth, he only chuckles and places a hand on your cheek, his thumb caressing the crescent swoop of the apple there, so very, very, fond of you,
You, who could have been a stranger in another life, but chose him in this one.
Still, even if after you’ve held everything he’d buried deep inside of him, he doesn’t ask.
But you can tell, in the same way that he knows what you want to ask, and, when it’s just the two of you in his laboratory with him working on a new scent and you watching him, you tell him why.
Seeing him pause just right as he was about to pour his concoction into a bottle, you lean in closer to see how the flower bud initially sleeping behind his ear suddenly unfurls into a magnificent bloom pinker than his blush.
“...I’ve been smiling more lately? Really? Hmmm, I don’t know what to say. But if that’s the case, then maybe it’s because I have you? …Fufu, my, how you look like a pretty rose now.”
