first of all: thank you so much for making this!!! i'm a fairly new fan and one of my primary concerns when getting into a new fandom is if it's lgbt-friendly, so it's incredibly heartwarming to see active, positive representation. as for headcanons: yumiko and yukiko are both trans girls! yumiko came out when she was younger and later helped yukiko feel comfortable and safe enough to start transitioning. i hope all the best for this blog, you're wonderful!!! ❤️💝💛💚💙💜
We’re glad to make a new fan feel happy in this fandom! I can definitely understand how it can be a little hard, especially when it comes to how people are going to respond to LGBT headcanons, but luckily you’ve come to the right place!
Trans girls Yumiko and Yukiko is beautiful. They’re already such good friends and it makes perfect sense for Yumiko to help Yukiko and to be supportive of her. Thank you for making our first submitted headcanon such a lovely and inspiring one, Anon!

Yukiko Okada (1967 – 1986) was a Japanese idol. She was born the second daughter of the Satō family, who later moved to Nagoya. In elementary school, Okada loved to read, especially comic books, and she was a talented artist. In junior high school, Okada wanted to become a singer and applied for every possible audition, anything from major productions to the smallest talent recruitment, hoping to become a star. She was rejected every time until she was finally accepted to a TV talent program, Star Tanjō! on Nippon Television – similar to Star Search - which she won in March 1983. On April 21, 1984, Okada released her first single, "First Date." She was known as "Yukko," which is a common abbreviation for the name "Yukiko" in the Japanese language. That year, Okada won Rookie of the Year, and was awarded the 26th Japan Record Awards Grand Prix Best New Artist Award for her third single, "-Dreaming Girl- Koi, Hajimemashite." Okada played the leading role in her first television drama Kinjirareta Mariko (The Forbidden Mariko), in 1985. Her 1986 single "Kuchibiru Network," written by Seiko Matsuda and composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, reached number one on the Oricon weekly singles chart dated February 10, 1986. In just two years she had made eight singles and six albums and was well on her way to becoming one of the most popular idols ever. On April 8, 1986, Okada was found with a slashed wrist in her gas-filled Tokyo apartment, crouching in a closet and crying. She was discovered by a rescue team called in by the apartments manager after other residents noticed the smell of gas. Okada's manager eventually arrived and took her to the nearby Kitano Aoyama Hospital, where her injuries were treated and was brought to the Sun Music Building. While Fudaka, the manager of the building and the staff were discussing how to avoid a media scandal, Okada ran up to the stairs, took off her shoes and jumped from the seven story building, resulting in instant death. #destroytheday https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu_kq2XBTBD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1wqkbtengdnjl

Project Sakura Wars will be set twelve years after the events of Sakura Wars 5: So Long, My Love. In this new entry, the Combat Revues, which previously protected nations from evil while working incognito, are well known to all.
Indeed, the Great Combat Reveue World War is more of a global sporting event, in which the Combat Revues from across the globe gather in Japan’s Imperial Capital to compete in a tournament. These disparate groups then compete to determine which country’s kouma-crushing corps reigns supreme. By the time Project Sakura Wars begins, two such events have already taken place, and the nations are gathering in the Imperial capital for the third. What should be a peaceful event, though, suddenly takes a turn for the serious.
Sega’s email communication describes the story as:
The stage is set in a romanticized version of 1940s Imperial Tokyo. 10 years ago, a cataclysm resulted in the devastating loss of the Imperial Combat Revue of Tokyo, the capital’s global defense force operating out of the Imperial Theater. The theater has since fallen on hard times and risks closure. As captain of the new Tokyo revue, it’s up to you to mend the hearts of your troops and restore the Imperial Theater back to its former glory!
Project Sakura Wars was first revealed on April 14, 2018 at Sega Fes, and was originally tentatively slated to launch prior to March 31, 2019. On April 19, 2019, Sega Holdings President and CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed that the project will be “more than a game.”
A western release was not confirmed until March 29, though Japanese Asian releases were confirmed to be in the works.
On March 27, all-female theater troupe OSK Revue announced that they will host a new Sakura Wars musical in Kyoto. The production which will be an operatic adaptation of 2001’s Sakura Wars Kayou Show story The Sea God’s Villa.
Sakura Wars is an original project by Sega CS2 R&D (later Overworks) and Red Entertainment. Ohji Hiroi (Moeyo Ken, Far East of Eden), Satoru Akahori (Saber Marionette J, Martian Successor Nadesico), and Kosuke Fujishima (Ah! My Goddess, You’re Under Arrest!) are listed as the original creators of the franchise.
The first title appeared on the Sega Saturn in 1996. The initial entry, while released only in Japan at the time, was estimated to have a 200,000 lifetime sales goal. The title sold 205,270 units in its opening week, which was roughly 57% of the launch shipment. At the time, the title was seen as having the largest debut for a Sega title to date. It would go on to move 359,485 copies throughout the Saturn’s lifespan.
Since then, the title has gone on to spawn:
Five main-line titles
Fifteen spin-off games
An anime TV series by Madhouse
Five anime OVA series
Seven manga and light novel adaptations
Sixteen high-profile live stage shows
The final main-line title in the series, Sakura Wars V: So Long, My Love was released in North America by NIS America. The title is available on Sony’s PlayStation 2, as well as Nintendo Wii console.

On the Way Home.
Kusaka Yumiko/Kitano Yukiko Battle Royale 1000~ words. Sfw.
Yumiko muses on the way home from a study trip.
The field trip had been an exciting one. Yumiko would be lying if she said she hadn’t enjoyed spending so much time outside, exploring nature and just in general being in the warm sunlight and the cool spring breeze, looking overhead at the blue sky peeking through the rich green leaves on the trees. She felt like she was in her element and would gladly have spent another weekend out there if the school ever decided to do something like it again. And now, late Sunday evening on the ride back to the school, almost everyone is passed out on the bus.
She can see a few couples from her vantage point near the back of the bus combined with her height. She can see Kawada asleep on Mimura’s shoulder (he’d had a weird reaction to being on the bus, had seemed jumpy for reasons Yumiko doesn’t know). She can see Nanahara and Kuninobu leaning against each other, something that might have made her jealous a few months ago but now means little to nothing. She can see Megumi attempting to stay awake, her head falling forward every now and then, her arm tight around Noriko’s shoulders. She can see Kiriyama curled against Numai’s side, perhaps the only time he’s ever looked even slightly soft.
Of course, it isn’t like she’s exempt from being part of this. Yukiko is asleep across her lap.
Not that the position looks even moderately comfortable, Yukiko half-curled into a ball in order to remain on the seat, slumped into Yumiko’s lap, using her own arms as pillows. Yumiko had expressed concern when she first settled into that position, worried she might hurt herself, but Yukiko assured her she was comfortable just the way she was and soon dropped off to sleep. Yumiko has an arm folded around her, helping her stay where she is when the bus jostles every now and then. Always the more athletic of the two of them, Yumiko is tired, but she isn’t the same level of exhausted that Yukiko was by the sheer amount of hiking they had to do.
“Yumi.” Yukiko yawns from her lap. “I can hear you thinking, y’know. Makes it hard to sleep.”
Yumiko chuckles soft, smoothes Yukiko’s hair away from her face. “Sorry about that.”
Slowly, Yukiko uncurls herself and sits up, patting her hair as back into place as she can considering the way she’s been sleeping for the past few hours. They still won’t be back at the school for another hour or two, this Yumiko knows from keeping track of how long the ride took in the first place, so she could probably catch a solid nap if she wanted to.
“That was fun, you know,” Yukiko says after a few minutes, lifting her legs to rest her knees against the back of the seat in front of her. “I really liked it, even if it tired me out. You loved it.”
Yumiko grins and ducks her head, tucking a short, loose strand of hair back behind her ear as she does. “Yeah, I did,” she admits, smoothing her uniform’s skirt before turning her eyes toward the window, the sunset sky with its bursts of color and the sun halfway sunk beneath the horizon. “I like being outdoors and I had a really fun time getting to explore. I’d love to do it again sometime.”
There’s quiet for a little while, during which a few people shift around in their sleep and a few more drop off to sleep. Megumi finally loses her battle against slumber and after yawning and stretching extravagantly, Mitsuko Souma drops off to sleep, her head resting on Hirono Shimizu’s shoulder. Yukie and Haruka fell asleep at some point when Yumiko wasn’t paying attention, but it’s cute to see their heads leaning against each other’s like this.
“Maybe we could do that sometime, then. Go out and explore on our own,” Yukiko says.
For her to make the offer at all has Yumiko turning her head, her eyes widening at the thought. Though some people had flat-out hated their little exploration weekend, Yukiko had been miserable through a good period of it, not a fan of the heat or the insects that snuck onto her clothes and occasionally into her hair when she wasn’t looking. Yumiko had tried to make it fun for her and had succeeded a few times, finding unique plants and minerals to show her.
“You didn’t seem like you enjoyed that enough to want to do it again,” she muses.
“If it was up to me, we wouldn’t do anything as intense as that was, but we can go at our own pace and find a way to make it great for both of us.” Yukiko reaches for her hand and takes it, giving it a firm squeeze as she leans against her and looks up at her. Her smile is sleepy; she probably won’t be able to stay awake much longer. “But I really loved seeing you that happy.”
The words make Yumiko blush and duck her head. “Thanks. I really did have a fun time.”
“Then we should do it together, just the two of us.” Yukiko kisses her swiftly on the cheek, giggling when Yumiko ducks her head even more. “And we’ll have a great time. I know it.”
She yawns, and Yumiko shakes her head at her. “You should try to sleep a little bit more, I think.”
“I think you’re right. This time, I’ll try it sitting up.” Yukiko takes Yumiko’s arm and wraps it securely around her shoulders, snuggling right up against her. “Don’t let me fall over, okay?”
“When have I ever?” Yumiko asks, and Yukiko’s answering smile is all the response she needs.
It only takes a few minutes for Yukiko to drop back off to sleep, and Yumiko keeps her close to her side as they continue on toward their destination. Do something like this together? Yeah, she can see that. There are plenty of places for them to explore together, and she knows she would be able to adapt a schedule to something that would suit Yukiko more and tire her out less. She doesn’t want to stress her girlfriend out if she can avoid it.
Smiling at the thought, Yumiko lays her head against Yukiko’s and closes her eyes, settling in for a short nap. After all, she thinks she’s earned it.
