sergio "checo" pérez ➵ mi amor - meaning "my love" in spanish. it was one of the first nicknames he ever gave you, and it has just stuck since. however, the meaning of it has become deeper and deeper as your relationship with the driver has progressed. he often uses it in interviews whenever speaking of you, just to keep your name private from the nosy press.

carlos sainz ➵ mi corazón - meaning "my heart" in spanish. you are quite literally everything he has ever wanted in a partner, and you treat him exceptionally well. since you have shown him nothing but love from the start of your relationship, you are the reason he keeps going. you keep him motivated to keep breathing, so that's how you got the loving nickname.

charles leclerc ➵ love of my life - you could quite literally ask anyone who charles loves the most, and their answer would be you. that man adores you more than he loves racing, more than leo, and more than his friendships with the other drivers. you are the one thing he loves most, so of course he's going to refer to you as the love of his life.

lando norris ➵ my sunshine - after a tough race one day, you held him in your arms, humming "you are my sunshine" as he fell asleep. ever since that night, he has always lovingly referred to you as "my sunshine", as you light up his dark days.

oscar piastri ➵ honey - the meaning behind this is simple. you're just so sweet like honey, and he cannot get enough of you. even when you're apart, he is craving his little "honey bee."

lewis hamilton ➵ love bug - at first, he used it jokingly, since he thought you "stung" him, injecting him with a love spell. however, over time, it is the nickname he has used it the most frequently. he uses it all of the time: in interviews, across social media, and at the paddock. you will forever be his little love bug.

zhou guanyu ➵ beautiful girl - when zhou slid into your dms for the first time, that was the first thing he commented. since then, the nickname has stuck. and no, you never get tired of it. ever.

okay this might be long/overly detailed so apologies in advance BUT! yuki with childhood best friend!reader. now reader has ALWAYS liked yuki, and its only gotten worse as he got into f1 and started performing as well as he does but they assume yuki doesn't see them that way. yuki, meanwhile, is rlly protective of reader and isnt sure why until pierre takes matters into his own hands and flirts with reader and all of a sudden yuki is like. synopsis: you two grew up together, spending every minute of free time together. you raced each other in karting but you decided to choose mechanics rather than racing. still, you two were close. it isn't until pierre flirts with you that yuki realizes just how down bad he is.

you used to go to the karting track and race each other

you won a handful of times but yuki was just better at it

you didn't care though because you were having fun with him

after a while, you stopped karting but continued to go to the tracks to support him

you guys always went everywhere together

if your family went on vacation, yuki was there

if the tsunodas went on vacation, you were there

if one was absent from school, your teachers would ask where the other was

skip forward to when yuki moves to europe to join the early formula series

you moved with him but in persuit of a mechanics degree

you guys still were incredibly close

you guys lived together and spent as much time as you guys could together

you visited some of his races when you weren't studying for tests

by the time he joins alpha tauri, you had gotten your degree

you were working small jobs here and there until you got a job also with alpha tauri

meaning everyone had to deal with your guys obnoxious, lovesick, acts

especially pierre

he loves you guys but you're so annoying about it

its like you guys can't even tell you love each other

(news flash: you couldn't)

the first year yuki and pierre were teammates, pierre didn't really mind it all that much

in fact, he thought it was adorable

like if you were working on yuki's car and yuki was chatting it away with you

or when yuki got out of the car after a race and pierre catches you staring open mouthed at him

or when you guys post pictures together during the breaks

anything you guys did, he found it precious

however, you did confide in pierre about your feelings towards yuki

so you two devised a plan

the second season of him and yuki being teammates rolls around and you two still aren't together he takes things into his own hands

you guys going to hang out at a cafe? pierre is coming with and flirting with you

yuki wants to go snowboarding? pierre already made plans with you

you go along with pierre because you trust your friend

yuki obviously grows annoyed that pierre is taking up all your time

he at first brushes it off but then he slowly realizes that he is incredibly jealous

it takes him a few weeks to realize

then he's all too aware

hes like "fucking hell"

from then he tries to keep all your attention

you and pierre joke about it after yuki is gone

slowly pierre backs off (all part of the plan)

yuki is incredibly happy about that

and he isn't even trying to hide it

he takes you out more and more

you guys slowly start to merge closets and rooms

then finally, you ask him to be your boyfriend

at the same time, he was asking you to be his boyfriend

that night, you both update pierre about it

hes probably more excited than you guys

hes like "finally i don't gotta deal with your pining"

you guys then announce it to the public because you couldn't contain it anymore

the team... isn't surprised at all

just like pierre, they are probably happier than you are

the fans are delighted

meaning a crap ton of edits

of course there is hate but you two could care less

you were too busy having fun to care what anyone else thought

1. Who or what got you into F1?

i grew up in a pretty big nascar family, my family would put it on the tv instead of watching the kids and natural progression i fell in love with motorsports. i do think a combination of seeing the tooned cartoon and me being fascinated by the engineering in the cars dragged me fully into f1.

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

for me it was fernando alonso and jenson button. although jenson is retired i still watch him in his other series like nascar. i still support fernando as well although i feel like it passed the torch on to lando when he was the reserve for mclaren and then later took the seat at mclaren. if you cant tell im a huge mclaren girl.

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

lando norris and yuki tsunoda, cant pick one but yeah theyre my ultimate pookies 🫶

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

my biggest driver pairing right now is lando and oscar, i think their pairing is what lando needed and what oscar needed and theyve already shown they push eachother so i cant wait for this season. my ultimate that i think about is fernando and mark tho, theyre my roman empire. from them always misisng eachother as teammates and then the infamous abu dhabi 2010. i could go on an essay about them (as a treat i also love nando and jenson)

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite driver?

no but i did get my friends and their cats into it. one of them is a ferrari fan and the other is a mclaren girl more leaning towards op81 but im gonna make her an ln4 girl soon. her cats are both mclaren cats but one only loves lando, she legit gets disinterested when someone else is on screen. one time she literally followed landos car off screen and my friend didnt even know that was lando so she was surprised her cat caught on to him.

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

i know i mentioned it before but abu dhabi 2010 is definitely one i watch a lot. 2020 austrian gp as well, even tho lando got the podium cause of disqualification it still holds a special place in my heart. Runner ups are silverstone 2023 and Abu Dhabi 2023 where pookies lead the race for a period of time.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

singapore is lovely, silverstone because of this year with lando leading the gp just really put it up there, and i think interlagos always has me excited, even if mclaren has a bad track record with it (please get your shit together for quali guys)

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

ive never been to one theyre too expensive in america to go to one but i have been to a couple nascar races and those were so lovely. im hoping to take my friends and i to the suzuka gp next year tho (its so much cheaper please f1 sort your shitty pricing please)

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

no and id rather melt into the floor than meet one

i think the rb19 (rocky) has to be my fave rn if you asked me a year ago i would say otherwise but from an engineering standpoint rocky is the most beautiful piece of machinery ive laid my eyes on (excluding my beautiful b&m rollercoasters of course (my first love fr))

What a cool ask game, and I love your answers! Especially with the deep history you have with the sport. It’s always fun to listen to fans who have been around for a while.

I thought I’d join the fun for the sake of it. I’m a pretty new fan though so my answers aren’t particularly interesting.

1. Who or what got you into F1?

This is such a funny story for me. A former friend of mine got me into F1 in 2023… by forcing me to watch the Spain gp with them. I had printed off a list of all the drivers, their numbers, and their teams so I could try and understand what was going on but never really got into it. They sent me dozens of F1 videos but it wasn’t until I saw a Cleo Abram video about F1 being a tech competition did it suddenly click why this sport is awesome.

As for the friend who started it, we’re not friends anymore because they’re an avid Red Bull hater and I didn’t hate the team enough to pass their vibe check. I still laugh about it. 😂

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

Zhou Guanyu. He looks like me, so it was easy to want to root for him. There was a dip in confidence in him briefly, but he corrected his mistake and learned from the moment, so he’s back up in my faves.

Interestingly though, it was Yuki Tsunoda who was the first F1 driver I knew though.

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

It’s a toss-up between Zhou Guanyu and Sergio Pérez. Depends on the day.

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

Kimi Räikkönen/Sebastian Vettel. They’re just… interesting to me. It’s kinda hard to explain because I’m still learning about their relationship. Also the first F1 pairing I read fic for.

I also do like Max Verstappen/Sergio Pérez, but I think that’s more because they got all my interesting fanfic draft ideas lol. They have their cute moments though.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

My parents and siblings clown on F1 so no lol. Plus, my dad liked stock car racing better.

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

1996 Monaco was pretty amusing to watch. But in the grand scheme, I’ve only watched a few races from 2001, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and the latter half of the 2023 season (wow, what a random assortment of years) so I don’t have the best gauge for standouts.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

Nope. I don’t know the circuits well enough to decide, and as long as the pit lane doesn’t exit onto the racing line around a blind corner, I’m all good for a fun race no matter where it happens.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

Nope and I probably won’t be going any time soon. They’re way too expensive for me. Would be fun to go though, especially since I only live 17 hours away from one of the tracks.

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

No, but apparently I was 3 hours away from where Valtteri Bottas was shooting a picture for his calendar at one point.

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

This is so hard to decide. There’s something extremely sexy about the old cars especially the engines, and yet what keeps me so fascinated by F1 are the modern safety features and the way the cars are meant to break. I honestly don’t have a favorite because they all have so many different aspects of them.

11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?

I don’t know who’s a one-win wonder off the top of my head, although I agree Kubica is a very cool choice.

12. Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can either be inspirational or hilarious.

Not really. Occasionally “he’s not too clever, this guy” lives in my head rent free but that’s about it.

Now here are my answers below the cut! Warning: I can be a touch rambly!

1. Who or what got you into F1?

My parents introduced me to F1 in 2004 when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I vividly remember watching pretty much the whole of the 2005 season on the telly and how amazing a lot of the races were back then. 😍 Since then, we’ve been keeping up with watching races, following the news, and visiting Silverstone for Free Practice sessions and fun events like the Classic Weekend and the Lap Of Lights whenever possible.

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

I was drawn to Kimi Räikkönen when I was young because I found him attractive. 😳 This was before I knew anything about F1. 😅 Once I got into the habit of watching the sport regularly, I was happily cheering him on. That McLaren was a BEAST…when it was reliable. 😬

I didn’t know much about Kimi’s story back then. As I grew older though, I did some research on him and came to understand why fans love him so much. He kept a cool head during qualifying and race days (He’s called The Iceman for a reason!) and I just love his personality in general: Quiet, composed, honest, and straightforward. And who could forget the memes that spawned during Kimi’s return to F1?

Even though Kimi’s retired from the sport (seemingly for good 😢), I still love and support him with all my heart, whatever he gets up to. 💙❄️

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

Sebastian Vettel. Oooooh Sebastian Vettel! Where do I even start? 🥰

I have an insane adoration for this man, even more than Kimi admittedly. Seb is just…on another level to me. 😍😍😍

He’s the sweetest, most loveliest man on the planet. He’s kind, generous, talented, and cultured. He’s also an environmentalist, and I fully support his journey to try and make our planet a greener, tidier, happier, and healthier place. 🌎🌱 I’m always fascinated with what he has to say; whether it’s something positive or negative. He has a ridiculous knowledge of everything related to F1 and our environment, and I love him even more for it.

Seb is also retired from F1 and I still miss him dearly, but that doesn’t stop me from loving and supporting this man. I adore him to absolute BITS! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have an interesting dynamic to me. I’ve enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and fall apart and repair themselves back together on track, from when the two were teammates at Red Bull all the way up to today. It’s good that they can laugh about their mishaps and misfortunes afterwards. I don’t know, these two just fascinate me. 💜

Other favourite driver pairings include (in no particular order): Seb and Kimi, Seb and Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr., and FINALLY, Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant.

5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?

We’re happy to support any team, but we’re primarily McLaren supporters in this household. 🧡 As for drivers, my mum loves Jenson Button and my dad is a Nigel Mansell and Fernando Alonso supporter. My sister just recently started getting into F1 and she supports Lando Norris. We never have any complaints or disputes over our choices, which is nice. 😊

6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?

There’s quite a lot of races I’ve enjoyed watching over the years. I don’t like the current races that much; I’m more of a 2000’s & 2010’s grid enjoyer. My favourite race of all time has got to be the 2012 Brazilian GP. It was the most nail-biting race I have ever watched! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! 😱 To me, nothing can top it!

However, the race that stood out to me the most – and the race that firmly cemented my enjoyment for the sport – was the 2005 Japanese Grand Prix. Kimi was a BEAST in that McLaren! From starting dead last on the grid to snatching victory on the final lap. What a show he put on! 🤩👏����

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

Spa-Francorchamps will forever be my favourite circuit. It’s home to one of the most iconic battles in history. (“BUT HERE COMES SEBASTIAN VETTEL!!!!”) Plus the foresty backdrop is absolutely stunning. 😍 One of my dream goals is to visit this iconic circuit and watch a race in person one day. 🙏🏻

I also love Silverstone, Hockenheim, Monza, Sepang, Interlagos, and the Nürburgring.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

No, I’ve never been to a race before. Not yet, at least. I would really love to go to one with my family and friends though. 🤩🙏🏻

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

Unfortunately, as of writing, no. We’ve taken many pictures of drivers, but I’ve yet to actually come face-to-face with them and take their autographs and have pictures with them. 🙁 One day, I’m hoping this will all come true. 🤞🏻

My parents briefly talked to Esteban Ocon when he was a reserve driver. (They don’t know which team he was in at the time and I don’t know either. This was around 2015, if that helps. 🤷🏻‍♀️) My mum was extremely lucky to talk to and get an autograph from Jenson Button’s dad John when he was alive. I believe this was around the time before Jenson won the World Championship. They’ve yet to get Jenson’s autograph. Again, one day! 🤞🏻

10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?

I don’t have many favourite cars, and I’m not a car nerd like my dad is. However, the McLaren MP4/20 is a certified favourite of mine. The black and white West McLaren livery in general looked very smart. I’m happy it lasted a very long time from 1997 to 2005. 😍 I wish they brought those colours back in modern races, like for special occasions or something. 😭

Let’s start with my favourite hilarious quote: Kimi’s got hundreds of iconic moments during his time in F1. I actually use his infamous quote “Just leave me alone! I know what I’m doing!” quite often in normal conversations, so…I’ll go with that! 🤣🤣🤣

As for inspirational quotes, hmmm, that’s a lot harder. The one that came to my head first was Daniel Ricciardo’s “Enjoy the butterflies” quote. I also love Sebastian Vettel’s “You can’t always be the best, but you can do your best.” and his retirement speech, among others. If I had to choose one….uhhhhh, let’s go with Daniel! I love them all equally though. 🤷🏻‍♀️
