In the first duel Atem had with Kaiba, how come he didn’t lose until he actually put the Blue-Eyes on the field and it immediately floundered instead of the moment he actually put the Blue-Eyes on top of his deck? Every other Shadow Game cheater up to that point was immediately put into a Penalty Game the moment they attempted to subvert the rules of the game, but not only was Kaiba not immediately punished for disobeying the rules, it wasn’t even cited by Atem as the reason for his loss, the monster instead having the ability to disobey Kaiba completely unrelated to the Shadow Game.

Early Yu-Gi-Oh! IIRC is a subgenre of horror as morality tale that has a specific name but damned if I can remember the term. And the emphasis on this one was Kaiba not so much cheating, as having stolen the card.

Ok, alors post en français cette fois-ci !

Donc voilà, j'ai fini hier le lineart de Amako, que vous connaissez à connaître maintenant. Je dois avouer que je suis plutôt contente du rendu même s'il a fallu que je recommence plusieurs fois la pose des jambes car niveau anatomie, c'était pas ça. Ce lineart a été particulièrement long à faire car je suis partie de rien : le sketch qui servait de modèle n'avait même pas les bases de posées, donc disons que j'ai tout misé sur le line.

Vous remarquerez le duel disk de Yu-Gi-Oh GX que porte Amako, un petit enfer à faire 😂 mais en soi, c'était sympa à dessiner quand même !

Je sais pas pourquoi mais j'imaginais Amako durant son premier duel, j'ai pas pu m'empêcher de lui faire une robe tombante derrière, pour le côté " spectacle", pardonnez moi 🙏

Who would you say had the better Exodia strategy: Rare Hunter or Gozaburo?

Rare Hunter probably has the somewhat more sustainable slash flexible strategy, as Gozaburo's heavily relies on one monster that is vulnerable to disruption of the grave.

Though Rare Hunter was specifically written as a rebuttal by Kazuki reacting to how Exodia was being handled by Konami and it turning into a game choking super combo.

Where do you think the somewhat fatalistic and misanthropic themes (the inherent evil in mankind/"darkness of the heart", that the world is destined to ruin and that humanity's greed and malice will be the architect of our own demise, etc) in Yoshida Shin's writing comes from?

I assume it's a result of his seeming interest in the occult, where one of the natural questions in any religion is the "Question of Evil", where does evil come from, and the inherent flawed nature of man.

That and it's naturally going to come up as the result of any story that psychoanalyzes characters.

But this sort of thing isn't that unique to Yoshida. You see it come up in plenty of shonen.

It's just a natural argument of the contradictions of the world.
