Yusei/Jack/Crow's adopted mother, also just a badass who takes no one's shit martha, martha, martha. yes, she's yusei, jack, and crow's adoptive mother. but have you ever like. considered martha as a person? considered the fact that she grew up in satellite before zero reverse, and took in the orphans of that event without a second thought? she opened her home in a time when money would have been tight and continued to take care of orphans even after the bridge was repaired. she's also the one who imparted to yusei, jack, and crow to not trust anything given for free - suggesting she gave out life advice to all those kids too. when a cop entered her home, she immediately put him to work and made him clean the bathroom. martha also teased yusei about his crush on aki, showing that she's willing to keep a sense of normalcy even under high stress points. she's such a cool character and she's not really given a lot of attention in the fandom at all. vote for martha, because she's actually a pretty interesting character.

Kotori Mizuki

Tori deserves more love!!! Despite not being a duelist she’s the protag’s number one supporter!!! Heck she’s one of the only people who stands by his side WITHOUT DYING. I say she deserves the best friend role claim more than the actual character who has that title. Also she’s a cutie pootie that’s a fashionista! She is unironically a force to be reckoned with in Duel Links. Her introduction is her slaying fool after fool in her quest to hunt down Yuma and get back at him for ditching her. Heck even within just Zexal she doesn't take anyone's crap and was ready to fight the Barians (space demons) with a frying pan at one point. She's vastly underrated in my opinion. One time she said “all Yuma’s good for is eating food and crapping it out” completely out of pocket and I love her for that no other yugioh girl is doing it like her also I’m certain she beats out all other yugioh girls on Amount of Times The Yutagonist’s Name was Said and that has to count for something

I just realized Kirby Right Back At Ya's acronym (KRBAY) can be pronounced "Kirby". What the fuck. Is that why they named it that?

Winter, there you are! (Sorry if I've let any communications go unanswered! Same goes for everyone else, btw!)

But yeah, that was something I first started to wonder when I joined Tumblr and saw it around. (It never struck me before - probably because I never looked too~ closely at the acronym.)

It makes sense because it's unlikely it would have come out that way as a coincidence BOY is it a stretch on their part to try something like that! Give a show a long, unwieldy title that barely makes sense in the context of the show (like, I guess his inhale abilities send stuff "right back at ya" but more in the games than anime) all so you could shorten it into an acronym that kinda sorta sounds like the show's original name?(1)

But... I guess that's 4kids for you! (Of course, I'm a former Yugioh fan so I'm used to their silliness.)

(1) My most gracious interpretation is that maybe there was a rights issue with just calling it "Kirby" because that conflicted with the games and so they HAD to give it a subtitle so someone on staff suggested a name that spelled out "Kirby" so it would be "Kirby Krbay" like... Mario Mario. I think I would have preferred something plain like "Kirby the Animated Series" myself! ^^;

Btw, if anyone more knowledgeable wants to chip in about this or 4kids stated reasons why, that would be welcome/appreciated!

im making this up very late so some of it might be incoherent and I want to get this out before long into the year.

Alt hopes for 2022

As the title suggests this is just me rambling off about characters I hope to see get an alt or some significant representation in 2022. Feel free to reblog with your own opinions or thoughts or expand on these with a post on social media of your own! I'd love to read what everyone has in mind. ~I don't think I'm turning any heads when I am saying we really should see a Shinya alt. It really hurts that  Shinya, even after a skill evolution, is honestly one of the weakest units in the game. I understand he's a launch/year 1 character but it's a shame he really has nothing going for him. I actually really like Shinya's design and think his writing is pleasant enough. Shinya fans deserve to eat good. ~Another set of characters who have really fallen to the wayside are Agyo and Gullinbursti. I just think it's criminal how underused these two are in the grand scheme of things considering they're members of the Summoner's Guild. This is more to give their fans hope and a bit of new life more than anything just because they've been sitting in the corner hoping for a smidgen of content. ~Obligatory gamma g slot. Just pick one at this point and watch me cry as we don't see anything come from it. I think this is possibly the least likely, but it's still a nonzero chance so keep chugging that copium. ~Heracles because please. ~Fuxi. I just really like his art and design and would like to see more of him. I've heard he was a bit of a letdown in Chapter 12 (tho I have yet to get caught up myself) but I'm hoping maybe with an alt down the line he can be improved. Also I always love me a Yugioh reference! ~On the topic of Gambler's I'm incredibly curious to see what they would do with Gandharva. I won't lie I do actually like his design and think he looks really cool with him having an interesting dynamic with characters who tend to play it safe. Plus he's a buff bird man and Thunderbird getting an alt in 2021 was so much yes- ~Mineaki wasn't a character I expected to get an alt, nor was I expecting him to be as good as he turned out being so I'm hoping that Avarga turns out to be at least half as useful. He's the other Yoyogi teacher and I believe the last one of the academy to be getting an alt. Cuz Jugo of all people got an alt as well which I wasn't anticipating which I believe (at the time of writing this) leaves Avarga as our standalone teacher. So yeah Avarga 2022 make it happen please ~Nyarlahotep is a character who had quite a bit of relevance in 2021 that I was surprised about but at the same time not really the recognition he deserved. I just think it's about time he joined his Old Ones brothers and gained alt status. ~Obligatory Marchosias slot. ~Taurus Mask second alt. No I don't have to justify this one. Just let it be a reality and let me have a world where I can be happy. ~Jacob or Kresnik. At this point I'm just a Gomtang simp and would appreciate more ways to acquire Jacob. Kresnik also has that foxy grandpa vibes I can respect. ~I'm gonna throw Oz here too because the poor lad has not been treated the best. Just an alt to breathe a bit of new life into him please? ~This one's a bit more of one that's out there that I simply don't talk about him enough on my social medias, but give us a Behemoth alt. I feel like he's a bit past due for one. The main reason why I'm putting him here is because he was a big part of me getting back into Housamo alongside Ziz when I got the YouTube notification that Valentine's banner and I have had my account since. We've come a long way and I would just like to see it sort of come full circle with a Behemoth alt. I think he's got a lovable design and is someone I should probably write about in the future (?) ~To close out the list I'm just gonna be honest and say this is easily my most wanted alt and that's a Tomte alt. I was a little disappointed we didn't get his event translated in an official capacity since he's honestly a character I resonated with and enjoyed a lot. I've gotten plenty of mileage out of using Tomte- to the point I've made legitimate memes on my Twitter and Discord profiles. He's really cute and I love his design which I know not everyone is a fan of, but he's one of my favorites and I would really like to see him get more involvement. Anyways that's my sort of wishlist for 2022. I'll be honest I got most of my faves between 2019 and now so I'm not too stressed about what alts we get this year. I'm also incredibly grateful I got lucky enough to get all of the units on my radar throughout 2021 and hope that it keeps up into 2022. (Tho I dont think anything will top me getting an off focus Kengo 5... speaking of I should probably also do an updated favorite character sort maker just for funsies because my opinions have mildly shifted over the course of 2021 and new characters I've grown to appreciate) If you have any units that you'd love to see that I didn't mention you're more than free to share those thoughts and opinions!

-did. did tucker really just say esperanto was a dead language only spoken as a secret code between geeks. google says around 100,000 people actively speak it. oh my god...it being an auxiliary language doesn't mean its 'just for geeks to speak in code' ...it helps bridge gaps between people who don't have a language in common...

-danny really isn't pulling punches when it comes to fighting the ghost-cop possessed people huh. like he SLAMMED KWAN INTO THE CONCRETE SO HARD. HE THREW PAULINA INTO A BILLBOARD. will that...I mean it WOULD carry over to their bodies non-possessed, right? like if the ghost piloting their bodies gets hurt?? itd be so upsetting to be possessed, lose time, then wake up covered in bruises (and possibly, broken bones??) real horror movie stuff im sure wont be addressed in any way

-tuckers parents seem nice! I like them :)

-WULF IS CUTE AND I FEEL BAD. im so glad the gang realized he was only causing trouble bc of the shock collar walker put on him and helped. also, him wearing that big hoodie with the hood on, and thinking its subtle. we can tell youre still a giant wolfie :) THEN GETTING SUCKED INTO THE PORTAL AAAAH :( anxiously waiting to see Him Again....

-fright knight's murder castle reminds me of the booby trapped murder castle in zexal!! another supposedly 'for kids' show with murder/trap castles! we love that. if you are a dp fan reading this, give yugioh zexal a try. its also got 13-14 year old protags and involves (alien) ghosts. the cardgame is just a vessel for the plot, which is really good. (I just want more people to watch my fav yugioh, man)

I still get excited when any of them show up again, though. 18 is another valerie episode!!!! :D skulker really said you two will get along if I have to handcuff you together <3 and the gym teacher really said, youre married now, have a flour baby! ngl, I'm not really watching this show for the shipping stuff (which I am very scared to look at the fandom for after I finish this watch through- I feel like there's probably discourse/arguing about ships...) but. Yugioh S4 Ep 18 pt 1: California Public Transit can Take you to Hell, but it Can’t Take You to the Freakin Mall

Apparently Tumblr did an update, joining the throng of techie websites that chose a godawful very open and round sans fontface that creates a hell ton of white-space.

Not quite sure why every website feels like they must make all websites look like a mobile site. I do enjoy having a dark mode now and that’s nice, but man...I miss the bold font we used to have for titles on text files. Really told you “this is a title.”

Not like it matters since y’all are reading this on my own blog where I have control of how it looks, but man...that awful typeface where there kerning is nice for short stuff but just...too wide for serious reading. It’s everywhere I go.

And speaking of bad kerning, like I saw this ad for a gym that was called “49ERSFIT” (because that’s our football team, in case you don’t know) but the kerning was reallllllly narrow so I looked at it and all I could see was “49ERSHIT” and like...I can’t unsee it. I can never unsee that.

Anyways, enough about how I’m haunted by font, lets talk about Yugi, who used to be haunted by Yami, up until he died this morning. So now Yami is just kicking it all on his own for a total of....maybe a few hours now, and has already destroyed an entire Caltrain, and whatever ecosystem was in this lake.

Seto Kaiba would be so proud.

Somewhere in the Ocean, or over the ocean, or...wherever the hell Atlantis is, Darts has decided that Pharaoh is NOT dead after all, and sends Rafael to finish the job, because youknow--Darts won’t move his lazy ass until all of his lackeys are fully dead. It’s an anime.

And then we have a jump cut to this tent scene. I don’t know how much time has passed. It’s suggested it’s enough time to fully sleep. So...a full day?

And Yugioh pulls the most unexpected plot turn out of their pocket because why not, it’s Season 4. This season is just about “how many strings can I pull and get away with” (I mean have you SEEN the Death Count lately?)

there’s a lot of things I expected out of this kids show.

This was never one of those things I thought I would see with my eyes--one of those things I could cap with my prt scr button, and one of those things I could paste into Photoshop and be like “wow this is really a thing that was made canon.”

Like for how long I had to cap this photo of Yami and Tea sharing a bed together, the people who made this show, spent THAT much longer having to animate it. What is just mindboggling about Yugioh, is that no one on the entire team was like “oh did we just...” and this set-up happens--and they treat it like NOTHING is happening.

Like, how is that humanly possible to write your flagship pairing into the same bed and then just not even recognize it? Like I get how it’s physically possible, I just watched it, but as a writer, as an artist, as someone who tells stories, how is it possible to resist poking fun at this?

Like the RESTRAINT on the Yugioh team, y’all.

I hope you enjoyed this trope that flashed on the screen for all of like...a minute. Lets throw a giant dog at it.

So fun fact, the Egyptian god that is shaped like a wolf is Wepwawet. He’s best known for guiding people through the underworld, which fits nicely into this episode. But, did the writers know that? Is that why Skye is here? To be a reference to Wepwawet? I have no idea. But this dog is here, and every time his eyes look directly into the camera they are drawn--a little bit wrong. Not as bad as when they drew horses, but wow they did not really enjoy drawing this dog’s eyes when it’s straight on.

As for Chris and old man in this episode, I don’t know where they got this outfit style from. It sure ain’t traditional Ohlone. It’s...I mean it’s what happens when you don’t do your research, honestly. And I get the sense that these two aren’t supposed to be any Native American tribe as recent as Ohlone, and might be Atlantean from things they say later in this episode, in regards to cards and the spirit realm or whatever--but uh...

...where did these outfits...come from? I just want to know their research. Chris has a 1920′s hat for some reason. The old man has a staff with poofy bits on it. He dresses more like a 1960′s hippie than he does an indigenous person. Questions. I have questions.

Chris leads us outside to where this old biblical-looking character is collecting all of Yugi’s dropped cards. No idea where Weevil’s went, including the card of his that currently contains his soul. Probably underneath that Caltrain somewhere.

What does Kaiba make these cards OUT OF?

Yami has decided, after this card shunned him once, that maybe it’s time to remove it from his deck.

(Pretty sure he did not decide to remove the Orichalcos, however, which is still in there, as we see later. Thing is, I just realized that Oricalchos would basically be Yugi’s soul, right? So maybe he just keeps it around for company? Takes it out occasionally and waves at it?)

Iron Heart kind of seems like that type of old guy who used to be a hippie and now teaches Physics to High Schoolers. I say this because I’ve had a couple of teachers a lot like Iron Heart where like you’d look at them and it’d be like “Yo you have to be like 600 years old, but like, all you talk about is all the drugs you did during the Hippie Era, how are you even still ALIVE?”

Speaking of people that shouldn’t be alive (although unlike my physics teacher, this guy is deffo dead...)

And then just completely out of no where Yami demands a Spirit Journey.

Like what the hell, Yami? That’s like...a crazy blunt assumption to make. Mind you, if I had asked my High School Physics teacher for a spirit journey, he would have had a lot of stories for me. He regularly told us that he could kick the ceiling (but couldn’t do it right now because he had to go to his special chiropractor first and get the right medication for that.)

Sorry my bro also had this Phsyics teacher and he just told me that he witnessed this 70+ year old man kick the ceiling and like...I don’t know if he’s lying. Either way, that is an incredible chiropractor.

Are you hiding, somewhere behind those eyes?

With the exception of a few unlucky students and staff, the island was empty. Chazz Princeton was one of those exceptions.

He stood in front of the quiet duel building, glaring up at the cloud-covered sky as he buried his chapped hands deep in his uniform coat's pockets. "Too damn cold," he muttered to himself, watching his breath curl out of his mouth and crystallize in the air, "but it's better'n Hell." He shuddered at the thought of spending the holidays with his family. An empty campus was much better.

He pulled his hands from his pockets only long enough to tighten his scarf before taking off at a trot. Not even the Blue cafeteria was open over the winter break- he was going to spend all December eating Slifer food.

Was going home really that bad-?

Chazz's gait slowed as he approached the cliffside buildings; partially because he really didn't want to be there, but also because someone else caught his eye.

Completely underdressed for the weather, you'd only pulled a thin long-sleeve shirt on under your normal, warm-weather uniform; your teeth were chattering so hard as you went for dinner, Chazz could hear them from yards away.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" He bit out, his long legs easily falling into step alongside your quick strides. You didn't even flinch at his sudden appearance.

"H-heya, Chazz! I didn't think an island would get so cold, y'know?" You forced a laugh; it drifted from your mouth like steam, and Chazz frowned down at you. He grabbed at your arm, pulling you to a stop with him.

"You're such a fool," he fake-snarls, tugging his coat collar out from underneath his scarf, shrugging his uniform coat off entirely. "You're lucky I'm here, [Name]." He tried to look frustrated, but couldn't keep the note of warmth from creeping into his voice as he handed you his coat.

You stared at it for a moment. "Chazz, I can't just take your-"

"Take it or I'm leaving you here to freeze." He looked away from you, his face tinged slightly red. You giggled a bit before taking his coat and pulling it on; since he'd been wearing it for so long, it was already gorgeously warm, and you let out a long sigh as your chilled self began to thaw. When you inhaled, Chazz's cologne drifted over your senses, engraving itself into your memory.

Chazz snickered at your pleased face, deftly reaching out to button the coat up as you buried yourself further in it. Before he could pull away, you wrapped your arm around his, pressing yourself up against his side. You both began walking again.

"I didn't think you'd be this warm, Chazz."

"Y'know, hot-blooded. I'm just that incredible."

You laughed again. It wasn't much longer before you reached the Slifer Red cafeteria; Chazz pulled his arm from your grasp so he could hold the door open for you, and you caught him making a face at the dinner selection.

There were only a handful of people in the room; students of all colors, and the few lunch ladies that were being paid overtime to feed the kids. Chazz motioned you off to a table and went up to the counter on his own.

You settled in one of the rickety chairs, fiddling with the hem of Chazz's coat, occasionally burying your face in the tall collar and taking another deep breath. His cologne is tangy, and brings citrus to mind; you almost wish you could be enveloped even further in it.

When Chazz glances around the room to find where you'd sat, he can't help the heat rushing to his face at the sight of you in his clothing. He tries his best to stamp down his grin as he brings two trays over to the table.

"They said it's creamed beef, but. . ." his voice trails off as he sets a tray down in front of you and takes his own seat. Whatever's in your dish is certainly. . . interesting. Grimacing, you pile it onto your fork and take a brave bite. Chazz watches intently as you taste it- although his gaze wanders over you quite a bit- and eventually you smile grimly.

"It's edible, but we may wanna stop by the vending machines again." You shrug and take another bite. Chazz just glares into his bowl of gunk.

You eat quietly for awhile. The small, cramped mess hall is filled with the low murmurings of the other occupants; students who will be on campus until the next semester begins. Chazz's gaze flickers up from his dinner and over to you. He swallows nervously.

"So, you're not going home for the break?" He frowns at how his voice wavers.

You finish your bite and set your silverware down. "No- I'm happier here. You?"

He shakes his head. "My family's awful with the holidays. Ugh, my parents love to attend and throw these fake, uppity parties, and everyone drags me along; I have never been as uncomfortable as when they get me in a tux." He leans his chin in his hand, drumming his fork against the table with his other hand.

You snicker. "You have the figure for a tux, though!"

"Of course I do, have you seen the men in my family?" Chazz smirks. "This school's lucky it has uniforms, because if I could wear my regular clothes, I'd have women throwing themselves at me." Not that I want anyone else; he shakes the abrupt thought from his mind as his face heats up again.

Having finished your excuse of a meal, the two of you clean up quickly and delve back out into the cold, making your way across campus and to the vending machines like you'd suggested. The walk is a quiet one; Chazz keeps glancing at you out of the corner of his vision as you stride along next to him.

The frosted grass crunches underfoot; Chazz's coat is so big on you, the hem trails the ground, leaving a path behind you. At one point, his hand brushes against yours- you assume it was an accident, but he blushes and mumbles an apology anyways as he looks away.

You let out a sigh as you both step into the vending pavillion. It's shielded from the wind, and the machines are warm.

"So, waddaya want?" Chazz digs into his jean pockets for his wallet and steps up to his favorite machine. You watch him slide in the change and press the button for taiyaki; noting your gaze, he smiles and buys a second one, pulling them both from the drawer and handing one out to you.

"Thanks," you mutter around a hot bite of the pastry; he just grunts back at you, exhaling as his own food scalds his tongue.

In turn, you pay for a few of those good burgers, piling the boxes on one of the metal tables as you and Chazz both dig in. This is much better than whatever the cafeteria had called food.

"What does your family do for Christmas?" Your voice shatters the comfortable silence. Chazz looks up from among the foil and cardboard, chewing thoughtfully as he watches you.

"Well," he starts quietly, "my family may be kinda shitty, but they sure know how to celebrate." He takes another contemplative bite. "My mom used to make cookies. She'd always do it herself instead of handing it off to any hired help- that's what made 'em special. And when we were really little, my dad would read Christmas stories to us."

Chazz looked up from his food and off into the distance. His sharp face softened in the dying light. "My brothers and I would spend half the year making something for our parents; since they could buy anything, we wanted to give them something they'd never seen before. And we'd always decorate the tree together- we each got a new ornament every year." He suddenly bit into his burger again, chewing aggressively. "We haven't spent a Christmas together in years."

"Sorry, I-"

"Hey, what about your family?" He interrupts your attempted apology. You shrug.

"My family's tradition was always opening one gift on Christmas Eve." You smiled at the memory. "My extended family- us, aunts, uncles, cousins- would all take turns hosting a big dinner a few days beforehand, too. It's always been really nice; everyone brings unique foods, and gifts turned into such a mess-" Your smile falters a bit, though, and you nervously begin folding some spare foil. "But things have been tense for the last few years, even outside of my immediate family."

You delve back into your mountain of a meal, and the pair of you have polished off the pile of food in just a few more minutes. A quick clean up and you're back off in the direction of the dorms.

At your side, Chazz lets out a huff and rubs his arms; even in his thick shirt, he felt the cold eventually. He cupped his hands around his mouth and breathed on them, trying to get some heat back into his tingling fingers; when he went to shove his hands in his pockets, you didn't let yourself stop to think. You grabbed his one hand and intertwined your fingers before shoving your clasped hands into the pocket of his borrowed coat. Chazz looked at you, wide-eyed and red-faced, but you kept your gaze fixed straight ahead and kept marching. He squeezed your hand tightly.

It was quiet until you reached the point where your paths split. You slowly pulled your hands from your pockets, and Chazz had to catch himself before he whined at the loss of your hand in his. You shrugged his coat off and handed it to him with a smile.

"Thanks, Chazz! I'll see you later!" With that, you took off at a jog, trying to get to the girl's dorm before your blood iced over in your veins.

Chazz stood there alone in the dark.

At the loss of another digital dueling round, your weary eyes wandered to the corner of the screen.

December 24th, 7 p.m.

You sighed heavily before looking out your dorm room window, although the sight of the snow didn't quite register; you hadn't heard from your family, but that wasn't much of a surprise. This was going to be your first Christmas alone.

You stood and stretched- you'd been playing your video games all day, so your body was getting tense from not moving much.

Someone knocked on your door. You paused in your quick exercises and moved to answer, briefly wondering who'd be here now.

"[Name]! A bit early, but merry Christmas!" Jaden grinned at you, practically bouncing on his toes, snow dusted over his shoulders and hair.

You smile back, although it's tinged in confusion. "Merry Christmas, Jaden! Um, how did you get into the girls dorm-"

"We don't have the time for that, [Name]; I was supposed to get you half an hour ago." Jaden grabs you by the hand and starts tugging you down the hallway, barely giving you time to shut and lock your door. "Hey, don't ask any questions, okay? You'll see in a moment."

Jaden has always been sweet despite his oddities, so you just let him propel you into the snowy night. The two of you break into a run across the freezing campus, Jaden leading you past the other dorms, the cafeterias, and all the way to one of the main lecture halls. He pulls you around to the side entrance of the building; when he raps on the cold steel side door, it swings open, and Syrus peeks out.

"It's about time, Jaden!" The smaller boy pouts as Jaden shoves you inside.

"Hey man, at least she's here now-"

"Syrus, Jay won't tell me anyth-"

"Come on, before Chazz throws a fit!"

Syrus grabs you by the other hand, and both boys lead you past all of the empty classrooms and offices. Before you know it, you've been hauled into an elevator, on your way to the top floor.

Chazz lets out a shakey breath, running his hand down his face and looking around the room. Atticus stands proudly next to him.

Chazz nervously eyes the room. ". . . you're sure it's okay?" His voice is raspy and unsteady.

Atticus nods enthusiastically and pats Chazz on the shoulder. "She'll totally be happy! Don't worry, as long as you follow my advice, you'll win her hea-"

"Shut your mouth!" Chazz leans out of Atticus' reach, flailing and trying to hide his growing blush. "I'm just- just tryna cheer her up! There's nothing more to it!"

Alexis sighed as her brother continued teasing Chazz. She fluttered around the food table, rearranging the decorative plates. Across from her, Miss Dorothy was placing a new batch of cookies down; the older woman glanced at the bickering boys and smiled. Alexis caught her gaze and smiled back.

"Chazz is so obvious," she giggled.

"It's so cute," Dorothy nodded, "and I'm rooting for him." She watched Chazz fondly as he floundered.

At the sound of footsteps in the hallway, Chazz froze; his breath quickened, his heart slamming against his ribcage as the door slammed open.

Jaden shoved you into the room, laughing and grinning. "I got 'er, Chazz!" Syrus stumbled into the room after you, panting.

It was almost too much to comprehend at once; the room was typically a staff room, but had clearly been commandeered. A plastic Christmas tree had been set up in front of the large glass windows and decorated hastily; Alexis and Miss Dorothy stood in front of an adorable display of snacks, waving and smiling at you like they knew something you didn't; Atticus, with his arm tightly around Chazz's shoulders, waved at you as Jaden and Syrus rushed past to pester Zane, seated on the couch. Faint music echoed through the decorated room.

Chazz was pushed forward, stumbling to a stop in front of you, his face red even in the dim, atmospheric light. Suddenly and conveniently, all your friends have turned away and begun chattering, clinking plates and glasses, making as much noise as possible.

Chazz shoves his hands in his pockets and hesitantly looks at you. "Uh, merry Christmas, [Name]. You seemed kinda sad the other day, so I-" his voice faltered. When he finally met your eyes, he was mildly alarmed to see them brimming with tears despite your smile.

"You're the sweetest man I've ever met, Chazz." You wipe at your eyes and take a quick step forward, wrapping your arms tightly around his waist; Chazz stiffens under your touch, his calloused hands hovering over your smaller form as if he was afraid he'd break you.

Over your shoulder, your friends are waving frantically, making all sorts of faces, trying their damndest to get Chazz to respond in kind to you. Eventually Chazz's large, warm hands land on your back, and he pulls you up against his chest, burying his face in your neck. His breath is warm across your skin and you have to fight to suppress your shudder.

Eventually Chazz practically rockets out of your grip, his face almost glowing, it's such a bright red. Your friends- who had definitely stopped to stare- aggressively turned back to their distractions, giving Chazz more time with you. He awkwardly motions to the tree.

Perched among the plastic bristles is an envelope. Your name is scribbled across it in Chazz's sharp handwriting; he won't meet your eyes when you look back at him, so all you can do is pluck the envelope from the tree and open it carefully.

Inside sits a pair of tickets, laying on top of a printed sheet of paper. You glance back up at Chazz again. He shuffles awkwardly.

"I know it's kinda presumptuous, but I reserved some seats for us for dinner and a show over summer break." He shrugs. "I hope you'll still wanna-"

"Chazz," you break in, "of course I'll still want to see you over the summer! God, this is," you glance around the room again, your smile brightening even further. "This is so sweet of you. I really appreciate it. I wish I'd known, so I could do something for you too-"

Chazz shakes his head at you, his hand cautiously straying out to grab yours, intertwining your fingers and playing with them absently. "I like being able to do things like this for," his voice drops to a whisper and he steps so much closer, "someone so important to me."

He leans down slowly, eyes searching your face; you hold his gaze, stretching up on your toes to get closer.

Maybe it's the fact that you're not alone together, maybe it's his insecurities, but at the last moment he just wraps his arms around you and pulls you in for another hug.

You just bury your face in his chest, listening to his heartbeat as the snow falls outside.

Mlp x Yugioh

Chapter 2

Crimson amethyst eyes blinked open confusion evident in the two-toned eyes as the pony in the bed slowly got up seeing he was in a house. "Where am I?" the pony asked as the door opened and a light purple unicorn with an equal sign on her flank came in smiling when she saw her guest was wide awake.

"Hello there I see you're finally awake you had one nasty fall the other night. My name is Starlight Glimmer and one of the few who found you the other night can you tell me your name and where you were flying from?" Starlight asked curious of this pony that had a four-part Cutie Mark on his flank with wings and a horn.

"I... I think my name... Is Yami... Yami Solarious Sennen, Miss Glimmer." the young orangey peach stallion said his head in a jumble. 'Definitely a colt.' Starlight thought but the town doctor said otherwise thought it was kind of hard to make sure it wasn't just a lot of guesswork.

"Starlight is fine Yami no need to make me feel old. Do you remember anything else before waking in this room?" Starlight questioned making Yami shake his head in a no like fashion.

"I'm sorry Starlight I don't have the foggiest clue I don't even remember crashing," Yami responded before knocking on the door from the next room over was heard.

"Starlight we have some new visitors." Called Double Diamond the sound of many hooves coming inside echoed in the quiet house with a muffled conversation coming through the door.

"Why don't you come and get to know everyone and meet these new ponies maybe they can help you remember who you are." Starlight suggested seeing Yami nod as move out of the bed, stretching his longer than average pegasus wings standing on all four hooves with little to no problem looking a bit taller than the average mare but shorter than the average stallion. "Come let's go see who has stopped by this little town." Starlight then opened the door smiling at the eight ponies in the room two were stallions while the rest were young mares ranging in size and color.

"Welcome! I am so pleased to have you all here." Starlight greeted making the cyan furred and rainbow maned pegasus groan. Starlight then went up to the six new ponies with Yami trailing behind her looking at all six with a confused expression.

"Starlight what are those on their flanks? They don't look anything like the brand you have on yours." Yami asked pointing with his hoof to Starlight's equal sign.

"These are called Cutie Marks Yami, I didn't think you had hit your head that hard but I could be mistaken you did say you don't remember a thing." Starlight pointed out and Double Diamond stepped up.

"Greetings Yami it's finally good to see you up and out of bed since your crash. Starlight, Yami, I would like to present Applejack." he pointed to an earth pony mare with orange fur and blond color mane and tail, a cowboy hat on her head with a trio of apples on her flank. "Pinky Pie," another earth pony mare with pink fur and hair that resembled cotton candy a trio of balloons in her flank. "Fluttershy," a butter yellow pegasus mare with long straight pink hair and a trio of butterflies on her flank. "Rainbow Dash," the cyan pegasus from before with a rainbow mane and a rainbow lightning bolt on her flank "Rarity," a white unicorn mare with a dark purple mane and tail with three diamonds on her flank. "and Twilight Sparkle." the last as a mare that looked like Yami in build but her she had a dark purple coat, her mane was mainly a dark blue with a light purple and pink stripe running through her main to her tail. "I am Double Diamond and it's a pleasure to meet you after that nasty crash you had." Double Diamond introduced while Yami looked at said ponies that were giving him weird looks before looking at Twilight, who held herself as a leader and scholar in a way.

"Greetings my fellow ponies, I am Yami Solaris Sennen and it's a pleasure to meet you here." Yami greeted somehow slipping into formal greeting bow flaring his wings to his sides before standing back up looking so confused. "What did I do?"

"You must have retained some formalities from before you crashed but I never heard of a greeting like that." Starlight said before turning to the group "Forgive me for my bluntness but are you also an Alicorn?" Starlight asked Twilight after glancing her up and down.

"Yes, I am and Twilight please I am still not used to the title of Princess," Twilight said with a strange look to Yami the only stallion Alicorn that she had ever seen or even heard of before now. 'Just who is this Yami character and why does he look like an alicorn?' She thought before getting a good look at his Cutie Mark that caused her eyes to grow large and her mouth to drop open. "Your Cutie Mark. How?" Twilight asked as Yami cocked his head and look at his own flank lifting his wings a bit to see it.

On his flank was a layered Cutie Mark of a red heart with the sun centered inside the heart. Inside of the sun was a crescent moon that cradled a single star effectively looking like a combination of all four cutie marks of the four princesses of Equestria.

"I don't know why it looks like that... I don't remember anything past waking up in the guest room and seeing Starlight." Yami stated to the room as Pinkie rolled her eyes.

"Looks like we have to wait until the next chapter for the answers. See ya every pony." Pinke cheered in a stage whisper off to the side breaking the fourth wall.

Deep under the sands of Sattlerabia, deep in a network of stone tunnels, a crack echoed through the dark cavern of crystals causing blood red crystals to softly glow as silver armored hooves hit to stone from a cloaked being carrying a bag of food as green eyes with purple smoke looked at the large crystal housing a still figure inside in a deep enchanted sleep.

"The Lost One has returned home... what will be the fate of this vessel and those around that Lost Light I wonder before I get my hooves on his power?" the dark stallion asked himself as he began to laugh darkly watching the growing crack in the enchantment his weak vessel used to save the poor soul trapped in that blood crystal.

your name: My pen name is VTsuion (though for a little while I tried out Camille V. Watson when I thought I was going to be doing more original fiction). The V represents my real name and Tsuion is the last name that a friend suggested for my first OC way back in middle school, and somehow it just stuck.

fandoms you write for: These days, mostly Star Trek: The Original Series and the associated movies (sorry, no AOS), but my first love is the original Sherlock Holmes stories, and I will always come back to them. I’ve also been watching sports anime recently and am currently rewatching Kuroko’s Basketball, so there may be some of that brewing… Generally, anything I read/watch is fair game, but I do have favorites.

most popular multi-chapter story: Murder and a Family Reunited - my ancient messy crossover between BBC’s Sherlock and Harry Potter - will probably always be my most well-read story by a long shot. Of the things I’ve written recently, For a Stranger - my first stab at Spock getting his memory back after “Search for Spock” - and A Prince Comes Upon a Tower in the Woods - Kirk is a prince who rescues Spock, a cursed knight, from a tower - are tied for most well-liked.

favorite story you’ve written: If I absolutely had to give one, I’d probably say Violin in the Middle of the Night - Watson wakes up from a nightmare to hear Holmes playing the violin - because it gave me a chance to do some pretty writing, and I think it works. I also think my silly crossovers - Spock in Wonderland, Millennium Deathnote (Yugioh and Death Note), and Stars (Star Trek vs. Star Wars) - deserve a shout-out just because they were so much fun to write.

story you were nervous to post: The story I’m most nervous to post is actually one I haven’t posted yet about Kirk and Spock undergoing pon farr together. No one actually has sex, but it has a lot of questionable consent just because of the nature of pon farr, and it’s the closest I get to addressing sex in any of my stories. I’m also not sure about the ending, so it may have to undergo some editing before I post it… Of my stories that are actually up, I was probably most nervous to post I-Chaya - pure Kirk/Spock fluff - because it was the first real fluff that I wrote. I was also a little nervous about Human, Vulcan, and Everything in Between because it reflects a headcanon that I have a lot of feelings about and isn’t very common (Spock is asexual, Kirk is polyamorous, and they make it work).

how do you choose titles: Sometimes the title will just come to me as part of the story. Otherwise, I try to take as much from the source material as I can, including titles, because I have a hard time coming up with additional details outside of the key premise of what I’m writing. I also like using song titles. If there isn’t anything obvious, I think of something, usually simple, short, and descriptive.

do you outline: On the bottom of the page, after all my longer stories, is an often multi-page outline detailing the planned events, character arcs, etc… Though things do often change as I write them.

how many of your stories are complete: 57 works are listed as complete on AO3, an additional 15 older stories have only been posted on FanFiction.net. I also have a significant backlog of 13 stories waiting to be posted, including the two that are coming out now (I don’t start posting anything until it’s completely done), plus one essay.

how many of your stories are in progress: I mostly just work on one story at a time, since otherwise I get overwhelmed by the amount of things I could be working on at any given moment. However, there are 8 more stories that I’ve started, but have been temporarily put on hold, not to mention all the stories in various stages of incompleteness that I don’t have any plans of getting back to (including 6 stories listed as in progress on FanFiction.net that were last updated before 2013). There are also 3 series of shorts that are essentially complete as they are, but that I could always add to. Really, most of my stories could gain an extra chapter/sequel if I thought of something or received a prompt for it.

coming soon: Since I post on a schedule with a backlog, I actually have things planned for months to come. One of the stories I’m currently posting, We Know That We Need, But Not What - Kirk and Spock sort out their relationship after The Motion Picture - has a sequel set on a planet with empathic plants which I’ll start posting pretty much as soon as the first installment is done (it’s already been written). My next major project, which I’m currently finishing up writing, is Generations - Kirk survives Star Trek: Generations, hangs out with the crew of The Next Generation, reunites with Spock, and makes a life for himself in the 24th century.

upcoming story you’re most excited to write: I’ve been a little bit all over the place lately. Until a few days ago, I was raring to get back to writing To the Stars and Back Again - Kirk is an astronaut, Spock is a NASA scientist, and they figure out romance amidst the space race in the 1960’s. But I’ve been rewatching Kuroko’s Basketball and I got a sudden urge to reread @umisabaku’s Designation: Miracle and after that I really want to write a short Midorima/Takao fic in that universe, so that’s what I’ve been thinking about for the past few days. There are also some Sherlock Holmes things that have been on my mind for a while that I’ll get to eventually...

Alright I’ve kept meaning to do sort of an infodump on my projects because I’ve been really slipping lately.  I dunno how obvious it is?  Probably kind of obvious.  I’ve also been really bad about checking messages and responding to people.  So I figure I can write up a status report and then point to it when I’ve been inadequate about communication.

My IRL job has been wiping me out.  I’ve been getting short, labor-intensive shifts in the evenings, and then random surprise morning shifts shortly after, which has been really hard to manage my time around.  My sleep schedule has been extremely broken and it’s affected my productivity a LOT.  Leadership in my department is about to shuffle around and I’ve been interviewed for the manager position.  If I get it I’ll be working an entirely different schedule, which could potentially be good for my sleepy brain but will definitely leave me with less art time overall.  I’ve also been enduring some back/shoulder issues over the past few months.  Nothing urgent, but it’s limiting how much I can draw each day.  I think replacing my desk chair is going to be a big factor but it’s not the only factor.  I just need to be a smart human and take care of my joints and not hunch over so much.  Working on it.

Here’s the current status of my various art projects:

Laserwing

I ended chapter 5 in June and said I would finish up some other side projects before I start concept work for chapter 6.  One of the projects I needed to finish was the Popkas Yugioh season 4 special, which I finished.  The other big one was my Neonmob card set, which is most of what I’ve been posting lately.  Once that’s out of the way (see below) I need to do concept art.  Chapter 6 will put all the Laserwing characters in new outfits which will need reference sheets.  I’ll need background sketches and layout diagrams so I don’t have furniture shuffle randomly around between scenes.  I also need to sketch out the chapter 6 draft page by page.  I’ve made Laserwing in GIMP up until this point and am going to try switching to Krita for chapter 6.  I might need to do a test page to make sure my process transfers over well into a slightly different system.  Once I’m ready to make real pages, those take a while.  Chapter 5 pages were going up maybe every 2-3 weeks.  I don’t know how many pages are going to be in chapter 6, nor can I say for sure how many chapters are in Laserwing.  An old outline had maybe 40 chapters.  It’s a story with a defined end point, I can say that for certain, but it’s intended to be long.

Popkas

I’ve had issues with Popkas for a while.  I keep picking new themes for dailies, thinking they’re going to be quick and easy, but then end up making them hard for myself.  It’s been to my benefit, I’ve forced myself into learning new art programs and techniques through Popkas.  But it’s hard to keep up the daily schedule.  Currently I’m doing the Paper Mario: TTYD bestiary, which has 124 enemies.  At a rate of one per day, by the time I’ve finished them, Pokemon Sword and Shield should be released and we’ll have all the info about the new Pokemon.  Those will be drawn in ‘Popka classic’ style (scribbly shitposts).  After those are finished, unless my IRL work situation dramatically changes, I’m considering putting Popkas on pause.  In order to do any other monster dexes I’d have to do a lot more research (for example, people have suggested Yokai Watch but I’ve never played one) in order to have anything meaningful to post.  Same deal with Popka Specials (the anime writeup things), those take prep time and anime-watching time that I might not have.  I don’t ever want to end Popkas, but a hiatus might be necessary.

Angelfire Hime

Did anyone even know about Angelfire Hime?  Well I want to post more but that involves finding, scanning, retouching, and transcribing my old high school scribble comics.  It takes as long as any other project but is also low priority because it’s all old content.  Nobody is waiting for the latest update because nobody but me actually knows what that content is, and possibly nobody but me can even read it.  It’s more a personal journey of self-reflection than anything.  I want to return to it but not at the expense of better work.

MeganFantastic dot com

I had a domain name linked to a tumblr that was supposed to be my news blog/front page and I barely use it.  Also, I let the domain registration drop.  Also, I had let a typo in my banner graphic go unnoticed for YEARS and still haven’t fixed it.  Even now, I’m writing this big post to my personal blog instead of the one for news.  The idea was to eventually buy some real hosting and make MeganFantastic a whole site of its own, but that’s a lot of work.  I’ve got a generally good idea of HOW I’d do it (probably wordpress) but I’m not a coder, it would take a lot of trial and error.  This would be a huge undertaking and eventually Laserwing, Popkas, and all my other junk would be contained on one big non-tumblr website.  But it’s uhhhhh not happening yet.

Hundera Youtube

My contribution to our LP channel is to show up, talk about video games, and then draw title cards.  All recording, editing, and channel management is maintained by Josh, and I can’t speak on his behalf about our update schedule.  I will say there are a lot of half-finished games we want to return to.  I will also say that when the new Pokemon comes out Josh is dead set on recording it.  I don’t know if he intends that to be a stream or a regular LP.  In the meantime he streams Minecraft with his friends every Sunday and we fit in our own streams and recordings when we can.

Commissions/Patron Art/etc

I’ve not been very good about this lately and I’m truly sorry!  I have a few things I’m working on, a few things I’ve promised to start working on, and a few things I’ve told people I can do once my workload lightens up, which hasn’t been happening yet.  I really don’t have an answer.  I almost never delete anything so if I’ve been sent a message in any form I should still have it, and I’ll be sure not to forget anyone.  And if I do forget someone feel free to throw rocks at me!

Rane Story 2

What the heck is Rane Story 2?  Well I guess I have to explain Neonmob.  Imagine if ChickenSmoothie and DeviantART had a baby.  It’s a virtual trading card site, which is fun and cute, and I’m drawing out a card series to release on there.  I’ve been using it as practice for painting backgrounds and to fill out some backstory for some 4th-string Laserwing support characters.  Before Mistaire came to Earth, she went to space high school, and that’s where Rane Story takes place.  You can preview the series, and when it’s finished I’ll post about it.  I’ll also repost all the art to DA.  If you scroll through the last several pages of this blog you’ll see some of the art.  I’ve put a lot of my brain energy into getting this done in spite of my work/sleep issues because I don’t want to resume Laserwing until I’ve finished it.  This is what’s stolen my life, guys.  Right now I have 6 more cards to make, and then I have to write and finalize all the text.  I should be done SOON.

Pokemon Nonsense

When my back and shoulder get too hurty and I have to take a break from drawing, one of the easy things to do is whip out a DS and play Pokemon.  I’ve done a lot of twitter shitposting about it lately.  I’ve also drawn up a bunch of gijinkas for my Pokemon.  I’m talking about it now because I also intend to draw up gijinkas for Pokemon to trade away.  I’ve already done a few.  However, I don’t know for sure how I’m going to distribute them.  The idea is people can trade actual Pokemon with me (in either X or Let’s Go Eevee) and the Pokemon they get will come with a character design for you to keep.  I was thinking I might do a discord server for organizing trades and such, but I haven’t yet.  Mostly because it’s low priority and I have SO many other things going on.  But actually playing Pokemon can happen when I’m too fatigued for real work, so the horde keeps growing.  Hopefully my posts and scribbles about it are entertaining.

I feel like there’s other projects on hold that I wanted to discuss, but right now I’m too braintired to remember, and some of my ‘projects’ never actually got talked about online so nobody’s waiting for an update.  My greatest problem seems to be that I try to juggle too many pointless side projects and then drop them all over the place.  Sometimes I’ll shitpost about an idea and even I won’t be sure if I was serious or not.  How do I end this post?  I don’t know.
