So I have a new extremely specific niche ship between two ladies in a card game that I doubt many/anyone has heard about but I think is really neat:

Icejade Aegirine and Swordsoul Mo Ye, aka Icejade Aegirocassis. Namely for their new, fun take on the 'Lady and Knight' dynamic:

Lady and Knight brought together out of a mutual, seething drive for REVENGE on the Knight's asshole, traitorous mentor.

(and yes, this is all OFFICIAL lore XD)

Nay, it could never have become a protector in that form. For both of them having lost everything they wished to protect, they became a sword of revenge."

Oh, and they absolutely wreck the asshole and put him in a "Million-Century Ice-Prison".

So yeah, I think these two are very cute and possibly dysfunctional and maybe just a bit toxic together and that sounds like a high-quality yuri ship to me! XD

Icejade Ran Aegirine

Every time I pull up this card I can't help but be immediately drawn to that frozen over dragon (The Abyss Dragon Swordsoul) in the background first. It's just so eye-catching, and you get a real sense of scale of how huge that guy really is that you can't get from his original card alone. This card doesn't suffer from lack of color contrast as much as Icejade Curse does, but I still wish there was a bit more differentiation between forms here. The multitude of transparent objects in this overcomplicates everything a little (although the effect itself is pretty cool), and it genuinely makes it hard to notice the contextually relevant broken bodies of Aegirine's comrades in the foreground. Her head (and hair(?) swirls) having the most definition across her body is what counts though, allowing you to see her sorrowful expression at being the last of her kind.

ok i'm sorry to yugioh post on my ff blog but i wanna sort out my hcs for what decks the scions would play in a yugioh au so

y'shtola: maybe sylvans as conjurer, invoked as blm? or maybe shaddolls. my first instinct goes to invoked though cause sorcery -> dark attribute -> easily splashable which fits with her being able to use multiple types of magic minfillia: lightsworn

ryne: twilightsworn (similar archetype to minfi/even using some of the same cards, but has a decidedly more offensive approach)

So one fun thing I've noticed on my latest big dive into Yugioh Card Lore:

The girls and ladies in the Albaz storyline have the notable distinction of being treated with more respect/development/generally better than basically every female character in ANY mainline Yugioh anime.

I mean Ecclesia gets to be a proper deuteragonist, and possibly even the actual main character depending on adaptation and framing.

Kitt gets to be the main character of the story's major B-plot and gets to lead the big 'show up with the cavalry to save the day' moment during the final battle.*

Fleurdelis gets to be kind of the biggest badass in the whole story, to the point of straight up killing the final boss herself.

And Aegirine and Mo Ye both get a good old fashioned, no strings attached REVENGE arc.

It's like if Tea was the one to get the Millennium Puzzle, Alexis got to lead all of Duel Academy into battle, all four bracelet girls got to team up to take down Zarc together instead of all getting fridged, and Aki and Sherry got to have a whole revenge rampage on Arcadia and Yliaster.

And yeah, I am fully aware that this notable distinction ALSO applies to plenty of other girls across Yugioh card lore like the Sky Strikers, Diabellstar, the Shiranui/Mayakashi, the Evil/Live Twins and more. It just feels a bit more notable in the Albaz lore given that it's probably the most fully realized storyline in Yugioh card lore (not counting manga adaptations of Sky Strikers) and that it has, at least what APPEARS to be, a pretty standard fantasy-hero-guy protagonist.

*Also this is completely unrelated, but I would like it to be know that the original name for 'Rindbrumm the Striking Dragon' before localization USED to be Lindwyrm the GUN-HAMMER Dragon. I swear that is the biggest localization fuck-up since Mekk-Knight 'Check THIS out!' Avram.

Icejade Curse

I'll be real, I don't really like the washed out look this card has. Looking at some of the other Icejade cards (specifically Aegirine and Kosmochlor, who are featured in this card) makes it seem even more glaring. There's just so much color and value differences there that this card has extremely little of, even with Aegirine (who's primarily white colored). The only part that stands out even a little is the remains of Kosmochlor, which I guess is kinda the point, but she's fairly small and tucked away into the corner, and additionally, the white reflections from the background just make her blend in as well, especially towards the top. I guess I just wish that this card had stronger outlines around everything (a la Oracle of the Herald, which also has lots of pastel colors but maintains so much definition, or even Soul of the Supreme Celestial King, which has bits of darker color scattered throughout to break up the ultra brightness).
