Update

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, mostly because life has gotten in the way. I have made some updates to the Dyo article on world anvil! This includes some new types of dyo, though the descriptions are short. There is, however, more art for the new types! In addition, there’s art for two of the older types, the Havadyl and Thrasfama. All of this art is once again done by the wonderful Yara Abril (@yrabrill on twitter), who did the art for the Isropp and the Namani (which is pictured in my profile image).

I will continue to work on worldanvil stuff, but I can’t be sure of the pace of that, as I’m also at a new job. As well, I’m working on my novel that takes place in the Vanmara setting! It has been long in the making, but I am now seriously in the process of drafting it! Updates here will be slow as a result, but hopefully they will be steady.

With that, I’ll wrap this post up. I hope to bring yall something more sometime this week, so keep an eye out!

Concept Artists Research

These are some concept artists I’ve found on ArtStation that I really liked and that kind of helped me decide how to go with my own concept art process.

 I really like how these sketches gave me the impression of clay sculptures even though they are 2d. The variation in characters is also pretty cool.

This artist is very inspiring for me with the way they sketch. I love the expression sheet and how much emotion and personality there is within this character.

Opposite to Andreas Rocha, this artist amazes me with the way they use very low toned and muted colours. Even though the majority of the colour pallet consists in shades of dark brown and green, the art itself is absolutely amazing and doesn't feel muddy or overloaded.

I usually don’t like black and grey illustrations (I much rather enjoy bright colours) but the way the artist made this scene have so much emotion without any colour is astonishing. This artwork feels very nostalgic and melancholic, some qualities that I would love to translate with the art I made for my FMP as well.

Even though these are 3d model concepts I still adore the character’s design. Opposed to my fantasy, Victorian era themed world, this looks like it would fit in a post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk-ish aesthetic.

Another cyberpunk concept artist that I really enjoy is this one. I have followed this artist for quite sometime and their work, both 2d and 3d looking is amazing. I would love to achieve this amount of detail and care in my work.

The way this artist paints digitally is fascinating. The textures combined with the harsh brush strokes make this artwork look both extremely current and extremely antic at the same time. I would really like studying their technique.
