Shoutout to the Center for Disability Rights for making me proud of who I am and what I do. There are times I'm super hard on myself . . . And then the people I work with remind me of my accomplishments. Forever grateful. Image Description: "This image shows an article in the CDR newsletter. Although Jensen is a new member to the CDR team, he is no stranger to the organization or our mission; Jensen served as a CDR Board Member in 2013 and 2014. Previous to joining us at CDR, Jensen had completed an internship at the Hickok Center for Brain Injury. While working for survivors of traumatic brain injury, he realized his passion is to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. Jensen has joined the CDR team this year to head CDR's social media, taking control of our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube accounts. As the Social Media Coordinator he works with different departments in CDR to share all important updates and new information with our thousands of followers! Jensen also keeps our followers up-to-date on all important advocacy news and let's them know how they can get involved. Jensen is committed to CDR's mission of advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, helping people become and remain independent in the community, and working with individuals to integrate, and transition into the community successfully. Neither of these symbols are an exact representation of who I am . . . Neither of the symbols have a ponytail or an electric wheelchair. Does it offend me? Absolutely not. I'm part of a community full of very unique people, there's no way ONE symbol could capture the diversity of our people. I think people need to stop worrying about a symbol, and worry more about the real issues . . . The oppression and discrimination of people with disabilities, subminimum wages, ableism, institutionalization of people with disabilities, segregation . . . The list goes on.
