Spot the Fake! | Fake News Workshop from Erasmus+ Youth Exchange 📸🕵️♂️
As part of our Erasmus+ project, Chasing the Peace: Youth Desk for Critical Thinking in Media Space, our participants took on the challenge of creating their own fake news photos! During the workshop, young people from different world countries used their creativity and critical thinking skills to craft photos that illustrate just how easy it can be to manipulate images and spread misinformation.
These photos were designed to:
📰 Showcase the visual tricks used in creating fake news
🧠 Challenge viewers to question what they see online
🔍 Encourage critical thinking when interpreting images in the media
Take a look at the photos and see if you can spot the signs of misinformation! Can you tell what’s real and what’s been manipulated? Leave your thoughts in the comments and let us know what you think!

My trip to Albania
This september, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and apply to a few youth projects in Albania. Mostly Tirane and Durres. I didn’t want to be sad if I got rejected so i didn’t really have high hopes.
But, then i woke up one morning and received an email which said that i was accepted to my very first youth project in Durres. It was called “Media (red)using stereotypes and divisions among youth”. And that is when my little journey began.
To make it short, I traveled alone from Bosnia to Montenegro and then stayed a night at my friends house there, and the next morning I got accompanied with 3 boys to Tirana and then to Durres.
The place where we stayed was pretty spacious. Huge hotel with a big backyard and in the middle of the backyard was this place where we gathered for every meeting. It looked like an oval cupola. They also had cages with dogs, birds and monkeys in front of the hotel. When we arrived, it was already night and everyone else was already outside exploring Durres.
First day was interesting. We got to meet each other and i was surprised that even after our meetings we still hung out with each other. I thought everyone is going to divide into smaller groups but that wasnt the case, fortunately. We spent nights blasting music from different countries and just chatting with each other. We visitied and hung out on the beautiful beaches of Durres. We sang together and had an awesome time. Shoutout to this amazing group of people that i have met.
We had meetings every day in this cupola where we did various of different things. We learned about media and how it has a huge impact on our everyday lives and how it can come to these divisions and stereotypes especially between younger generations.
For examle, one day, we got to make our own country with our own rules, money, language etc.It was fun working in groups and chatting with everyone in different languages. That was also how i got to know everyone and learn more about them.
Other time, we made our own blog website and got to present some of the news that we posted there. I had a rough time with wifi and finding my way on the website ngl. But it was nice that we had someone we could ask for help, and even after they provided another wifi box for us!! <3
And what is the best way to learn about society and media controlling us than to watch the famous “The Truman Show”. It was the best night and best way to wrap up our meeting.
One night, we had an intercultural night where we brought goods from our country. We all came from various countries : France, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Kosova, Macedonia, China, Belgium, Greece, Romania and so on. My fellow Bosnian and I brought coffee and 3 kinds of cookies, because in Bosnia you HAVE to start your days with those!
Shoutout to the amazing organizers for the whole project. They were truly amazing and made every meeting fun and lively! They also equipped us with lots of cookies and coffee which we could take on our breaks! Thanks for that !! :)
And now, this mini blog of mine comes to an end. I just want to tell you, if you are debating wether to apply to a project or not, trust me, do it. It definitely pays off in the end! :)

During this Erasmus project I learned many things about the European Green Deal, but also a lot about other countries and cultures. First of all, it was a reminder about the importance of doing simple things to help the planet, for example the importance of separating waste. I learned some new things about the green economy and the problems during its implementation. I learned about greenwashing, eco-anxiety, environmental problems, sustainability, climate crisis, pollution and green energy. We talked about problems and possible solutions for those problems. We compared the situations of all the countries that participated in the project. We learned about the food sharing point in Luxembourg and about the system under which it operates, which was particulary interesting because we don't have anything like that in my home country. I visited many beautiful places, learned about other countries and cultures and met many smart, kind and inspiring people. I also realised how much more I want to and have to learn in order to make a difference. This project encouraged me to pay more attention to the eco crisis and to take more action, both because of the lessons and because of the motivated people I met.

Chasing the Peace: Youth Desk for Critical Thinking in Media Space - Our Erasmus+ Journey 🌍🕊️
In today’s fast-paced digital world, distinguishing truth from misinformation is more critical than ever. That’s why our recent Erasmus+ youth exchange, Chasing the Peace: Youth Desk for Critical Thinking in Media Space, was such a timely and important project.
Over the course of 22 September - 01 October, young people from various countries came together in Slovakia to explore and deepen their understanding of media literacy, critical thinking, and peaceful dialogue. Through a series of workshops, discussions, and interactive sessions, we learned how to identify fake news, engage in constructive debates, and promote responsible media use.
This project would not have been possible without the collaboration of our dedicated national teams. Each of them brought unique insights and expertise, enriching the experience for all participants from Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Romania and Austria. Among these teams, we had the privilege of working with representatives of 14 different nationalities, making our discussions and activities rich with diverse viewpoints and experiences.
One of the standout workshops during this exchange was our session on fake news. Participants learned practical techniques for identifying unreliable sources, verifying information, and understanding the role of algorithms in spreading disinformation. The workshop was practical, the participants were divided into 7 groups and using all the acquired knowledge created one photo and one video with fake news. At the end of the workshop, each participant left with a set of tools to more critically navigate the media landscape and acquired crucial knowledge. You can see the results of their work at this seminar in this publication.
Beyond the workshops, this project was a celebration of cultural exchange and mutual learning. From evening intercultural nights where we shared food and traditions, to moments of reflection on how media impacts our perceptions of each other, the experience fostered new friendships and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
We are incredibly grateful to the NIVAM and Erasmus+ for supporting this initiative. Together, we have built a community of young leaders who are ready to tackle the challenges of the digital age with critical thinking and a commitment to truth.
Stay tuned for more updates and stories from this inspiring journey! 📚✨

Get the Fake out” Erasmus+ youth project mobility event that gathered 42 parricipants from 7 countries in Luxembourg between 7-15 March 2023 to create awareness and improve critical thinking regarding to disinformation and media literacy
Through this visual representation, we aim to evoke a deep sense of empathy and urgency in our viewers. We seek to spark conversations and encourage critical thinking, urging everyone to question the sources of information they encounter and to seek the truth beyond viral rumors and sensationalized stories. Trough different Campaigns, participants fight against the spreading of "Fake News".
youtube
In this powerful campaign, our participants have created a thought-provoking video that sheds light on the chilling injustice explored in an article, originally published by the BBC, and can be read at https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latinhttps://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-46145986.amp . The article recounts a deeply distressing incident where two innocent men fell victim to a horrifying act of mob violence fueled by false accusations and viral rumors spread through WhatsApp. It paints a tragic picture of 21-year-old Ricardo Flores and his uncle, Alberto Flores, a 43-year-old farmer wrongly accused of being child abductors and involved in organ trafficking. Despite their innocence, the men were brutally beaten, set on fire, and tragically lost their lives.

Unveil Culture 19/03-01/04 2019
I'm on the 7:30 a.m. train going to Florence Santa Maria Novella, I can't sit comfortably on the carriage seats and I lean my head against the window. I don't want to think that in less than an hour I'll be back in the university, and then I let my thoughts flow and it feels like there are no longer Tuscan villages outside, but the countryside of Moldova. Those landscapes that I observed from the window of a bus that had taken me from Chisinau to Valul-lui-Voda while I tried to keep my balance and not let my suitcases escape in the crowd. The memories of these two weeks resurface all together, overlap and flow like a movie.
I miss waking up with too much sunlight coming through the bedroom window, and the cold air just out of the room that could wake you up better than caffeine. I miss finding my friends in the breakfast room and starting the day with gossip, annoying headaches and confused memories of the night before. I didn't know what to expect from this project, I hardly ever know what to expect, but this is what makes each project unique. I knew we would be a huge group, ten countries, six participants per country. I thought it would have been harder to work with such a large group of people and instead I was pleasantly surprised by the dynamics that immediately established between us. Without the efforts and involvement of each one of us, the project wouldn't have been the same, but we managed to make it work in the best way, working together, sharing bits of knowledge and learning from each other.
Unveil Culture was a project organized by United Youth for Educational Development (UYED) and the hosting organization in the Republic of Moldova is D.G.T. Association part of D.G.T. (Do Great Things) Network. The project "Unveil Culture" we aimed to raise awareness on the value of cultural heritage, promote participation in cultural activities and development through culture, drive cultural involvement among young people across Europe and beyond, thus contributing to the implementation of 2018 European Year objective of making as many people discover and understand the importance of cultural richness and diversity.
Cultural heritage comes in many shapes and forms. Through cherishing our cultural heritage, we can discover our diversity and start an inter-cultural conversation about what we have in common. Cultural heritage shapes our identities and everyday lives. It is important to preserve and pass on to future generations. You may think of heritage as being ‘from the past' or static, but it actually evolves through our engagement with it.
Together with my national team, we prepared a 3 hours session in which we presented the cultural heritage of our country. Presenting places, buildings, personalities, customs and traditions, and all the other relevant cultural aspects that we wanted to unveil about our country. We had to think of an interactive and creative way of presenting, so that all other participants were involved, thinking out of the box and using non-formal methods for presentation. It was challenging but at the very same time rewarding.
We also had the opportunity to learn more about Moldovan cultural heritage in our day trips around the country. Let me introduce you to the uncommon wonder of the Republic of Moldova.
ORHEIU VECHI
Old Orhei is a historical and archaeological complex, located in Trebujeni, at 60 km north-east of Chisinau, on river Raut. It is famous for its preserved cave monasteries. The Orthodox monastery is still inhabited by a handful of Orthodox monks, who maintain the church at the top of the hill. The caves contain an array of historical artifacts and Old Church Slavonic inscriptions dating from the 1690s, which testify that the Hajduk took shelter in the caves, hiding from the Ottoman Empire. In 1821 it was dug a passageway of 20 m, which connected Pestere monastery to the Butuceni village, and built a new entrance. In 1915, nearby, an Orthodox church was built and the cave monastery lost its significance.
CURCHI MONASTERY Curchi Monastery is one of the most important architectural monuments of Bessarabia, and it is also considered to be one of the most beautiful and famous monasteries of the region. It is located in Orhei forest near Curchi village, approximately 14 km southwest of the town of Orhei. The monastery is situated in the Vatici valley on a bank of the Vatic River between rich hills covered with forests, gardens, and orchards. The monastery is a real gem, offering silence and peace. The monastery has a rich religious and cultural past spanning more than two centuries. It was founded in 1773-1775 and became one of the richest, most beautiful, and largest monasteries in Moldova.
CRICOVA WINERY Cellars of Cricova are the house of a remarkable collection of wines. Politicians, celebrities, and collectors from around the world have special collections here. Including, John Kerry, Vladimir Putin, and Angela Merkel. The Collection is formed from about 1,3 mln. of bottles. Cricova Cellars are a really remarkable place of the world, where history, archeology, and art of winemaking are united into one, thus they gave birth to a real Subterranean City. Avenues, streets, lanes...only the names they carry are unusual: Cabernet, Dionis, Feteasca, Chardonnay, Sauvignon...; according to the wine variety kept in oak casks found in the adjacent niches. These are situated at a depth of about 80m (90 yards) under the ground, with subterranean galleries that stretch out at a length of more than 70 km (43 miles). Cricova has been declared a national cultural patrimony by law. "Cricova" enterprise is the only Moldavian company that was granted the highest recognition - the Order of the Republic. Tastings are held in one of the 5 underground tasting halls: "European Hall", "Casa Mare", "Sea-Bottom", "Presidential Hall", "Fireplace Hall". Cricova Cellars will certainly leave a strong impression and unforgettable memory to each visitor.
