There is a difference between simplistic liberty and rightful liberty. The United States is based on the goal of achieving and protecting the latter, not the former. . . The letter quoted herein was one that I wrote to Isaac H. Tiffany on 4 April 1819 . . . The 15-star American flag featured in this video was flown over Fort Clatsop in Lewis & Clark National Historical Park. The 15 star flag became the Official United States Flag on 1 May 1795. Flags of this design were carried by the Corps of Discovery on their expedition and presented to Indian Nations along the route. I read Aesop’s Fables in chapbooks as a boy. I drew from their lessons during my political career. During my retirement, I kept a sixteenth-century Greek/Latin parallel text edition of Aesop’s Fables in my Poplar Forest library. 11.1.1793: On this day I arrived in Germantown, which had become the temporary seat of the government of the United States, in order to avoid the yellow fever that was decimating the population of Philadelphia. Germantown was overflowing with refugees from the epidemic . . This portrait was rendered in the Deshler-Morris House, sometimes called “The Germantown Whitehouse,” (at modern 5442 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia) part of @independencenps . For two weeks in 1793, President Washington lived in this house, which was where his cabinet met while Philadelphia was under quarantine for yellow fever. The General and his family did visit the house again the next year, but his cabinet did not accompany them . . . As indicated by his demeanor in the attached portrait, Secretary Hamilton clearly thought that his financial plan was obviously irrefutable.
