If there is a value that has stayed consistent with me, since I was young, since I could form coherent thoughts, is that I believe that people should have the right to be human.

When you strip my words of labels, you’ll see that everything I say, do, support, and fight for has always been built on the belief that people should be able to be human.

To be human is to want to survive. To want to feel safe. To want to not be hungry. To want to be happy.

And to be human is to also support other humans. And their want to surive. And their want to feel safe. To want to not be hungry. To want to be happy.

And to do the complete opposite, to take away others’ ability to pursue happiness, to drive them into hunger, to endanger their well-being, or to go in with the intention of treating people as if they were anything less than human... is to be selfish, cruel, and inhumane.

So when we historically fail humanity, when we fail to support fellow humans and their right to be human... To be human is also to make mistakes, and to take responsibility for those mistakes.

We are responsible for each other. And everything you fight for, support, do, or say either protects human rights, or outright dismantles it.

So live wisely. Live intentionally. And carefully make choices with the knowledge that lives depend on your actions.

Yesterday I had my first client test positive upon admittance to L&D. I could feel her disappointment when she texted me that she would not be able to encapsulate as planned due to this unexpected result. She would have been a third time PlacentaMom client, so I was definitely disappointed for her as well. So many positive thoughts to her & her family as they navigate covid with a newborn.
