No signals bouncing around its artificial brain, no operating programs queued to autostart. Not even a blinking dormancy light. "Hey big guy," says Mo Xuanyu, chrome eyes sparkling with fun. "Who do I gotta fuck around here to get unplugged?" Wei Ying is a rogue AI come to life. Lan Zhan is… handling it. My Notes: This is my Neuromancer. Actually one of my favorite cyberpunk cities EVER. When I figured out what OP was doing with the city and plot structure I legitimately went insane. Android erotics, cyberpunk city.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are both ex academy students or have both been victims of psychic medical experiments. I love it as a story about trauma and living in aftermath. Mindlink.

My Notes: God this is wonderful. We've got a full cast and some case/heist fic flavoured science fictional elements. I think it plays very nicely with a lot of the other cool mindlink stuff on this list.

Fave plot twist: I technically haven't written-written this bc I haven't finished the WIP in question, which is a canon divergent Star Wars fic where Darth Maul turns his brother Savage into a dark force cyborg zombie after Darth Sidious murders that brother in front of him. They get separated, believing each other dead and planning to suicide attack Darth Sidious for it with new allies. Anyway. Throughout the fic I'm setting up how perfect a weapon Savage is now that he's been warped so much by the Dark, and of course this is set just before Sidious conquers the galaxy so there's really a dire need to throw an undying weapon at him. So when Maul & Death Watch and Savage & Obi-Wan meet up, almost everyone's on board with using their best tool. Except for Maul, who threatens to kill his allies if they don't let his brother go and thus dooms the entire galaxy by having finally learned to be the one person in fucking years who views Savage as a person not a tool

Learned: Ocular prosthetics are ancient!! the first person we've found with an artificial eye was a woman in Shahr-I-Sokhta in what's now Iran about 2800 BCE!! and her eye was decorated with gold that looked like sun rays. I looked that up for my Romany-In-Space-AU Supernatural fic, where Bela Talbot has a glass eye and painted over scars to hint at the fact that she was scarred to mark her as an unperson and then splashed herself with acid to cover up that specific mark

Excited: I'm the most excited about Bride of Rohan I think, which is the one I've been talking about for half a year now where as punishment for failing to seduce Éowyn, Saruman mutilates his apprentice Gríma and then marries him to Éomer as a punishment. I think I've got the final scene figured out now (It's Éomer POV but Gríma is lying his ass off which Éomer doesn't all grok but the reader should, so I'm having to draft this scene lots) and there is a coda that I planned out ages ago but haven't written and. I've thought through so many versions of this fic and I'm really sure now that it's gone from the body horror vent fic it started as into something actually interesting about both Éomer and Gríma. I just need to finish that final scene

Trope: I dont think I've written a fake dating fic ever? Which is so weird, I love fake dating. Maybe I should try to think of any extremely contrived circumstance where Éomer and Gríma would be fake dating hahahah

🌹 the best advice you’ve ever had: i dont really know tbh, i don’t really get given a lot of advice from people even if i ask or at least i cant remember anything right now ? T_T I think the best advice i have given myself is that you gotta accept that youre not perfect so you can get better and that intention only gets you so far. Your actions have to match your words and intentions to get better, theres no use ignoring your flaws because then you cant ever hope to get over them. right now i think im trying to learn how to learn from my mistakes, its pretty easy to figure out what you did wrong in the past but im trying to navigate how i should correct them in the future :) (hope that doesnt sound basic or confusing haha)

Instruments? Started playing the violin when I was 9 years old moved on to the viola at 12 (stopped playing 16 because my teacher was a sexist idiot) with the help of my friends I taught myself how to play the flute at 13 (our band teacher didn't know how to play the flute, so the whole flute section was just winging it... again, he was an idiot)… taught the band teacher how to play the fife when the school got a bunch donated when I was about 15. (It was the first time I'd ever seen a fife and I learned it on my own in an afternoon, but it was beyond the capacity of a man in his 50s who had taught band for 20 years to figure out)

Random fact: You mean besides having a deep dislike towards my old band teacher ?(≧▽≦)

I'm legally blind. I just feel like it's going to be something most people on the internet don't know about me. And the blind community is so often shoved under the bus I always want to make sure it's seen in some way shape or form. I was born with cataracts, and ocular albinism (and possibly retinas pigmentosa That one is hard to pinpoint but it runs in my family so I keep an eye on it) I went to the Arkansas school for the blind, lived on campus from age 9 to 16 until we moved closer to the school, which was one reason Harry Potter really caught my attention growing up. I've had two major eye surgeries, and one laser surgery (I’ll most likely need more as I get older and the cataracts keep growing back), and I really, probably, need to start using a cane....

Favorite Authors:  Robin Hobb is hands down my favorite. Please read Realm of the Elderlings and come yell at me about them!!

I also love. Philip K Dick, Chuck Palanuik, C S Friedman, Robert Jordan, Douglas Adams, and Maggie Stiefvater. I'm sure I'm missing a few. I'm gonna go ahead and put Hunter S Thompson in cuz I need to finish Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but the little I've read so far is amazing.

Fave animal sounds: For some reason my cousin and I were curious about what peacocks sound like one night and looked it up and now the thought of peacocks warbling always makes me so happy cuz of how funny we found it when bored and hyper that one night.

Aesthetic: Oh man...Dark Academia, is one. Though I usually dress more grunge for someone who is slightly too young to have lived through the grunge era. Also I love bright colors. Rainbows, mishmash, eclectic everything. I'm all over the place, really. My goal is to start adding some 1940s vintage looks into my wardrobe.

When you upload vore/belly art I can tell it's your art from the stomach alone just by looking at the thumbnail :v But aside from the general style I'd definitely say you're recognizable from the faces you do, I like the style for the eyes and overall your faces are very expressive

Ho dang that is high praise if you can recognize it just from the tums OTL. And honestly really pleasantly surprised too? I didn’t expect that to even be mentioned cuz I assumed I was going pretty generic lumpy vore with them so aaaaa.

Heck tho faces/expressions are one of my fave things to draw (and noses, all snoots must be boopable), so I’m really glad they stand out. Esp eyes, kinda stumbled across making them bigger and more circular when I was like 16 or 17, doodled them on a whim for a character study/meme thing and it just stuck cuz hey, big eyes are expressive, and anime and didney know this too. Will admit adding the eyeshadow or whatever it is later on was helpful too? Emphasizes expressions since people look for that implied ocular shape that’s formed by the interaction of the eyes and brows, and since I tend to draw a lot detail stuff, it’s a way to focus the attention back on those implied shapes, and make eyeshape stand out more too by contrast. Which like, I did not realize the principle at time cuz no way am I that smart, learned it much later from a tutorial about making expressive masks and made the connection XD

9. do they care about their appearance? how much effort do they put into presentation?

very much so!! kal is was formerly the ruler of kahal. the gist of it is that there are always two rules (of any relation or gender) and kalausi ruled with his twin sister, arichizi, until he decided ruling was Bull Shit anyway and abdicated to go gallivant across globe for personal reasons. that being said, a lot of the formality and mindset of ruling stuck with him, so he cares for his appearance very carefully--or as much as he can while travelling all the time. 

20. which of the five senses do they rely the most on?

if kal were alive today he would be legally blind. he has albinism (+ ocular albinism) so he has very poor vision along with very light-sensitive eyes. it’s a common genetic thing in kahal (about 27% of the population has it) so veils and / or blindfolds are a Common Fashion. i’d say he relies most on sense of touch and hearing!

23. how do they feel about nicknames, titles, or labels that have been given to them? how do they feel about their name? 

only his friends are allowed to call him nicknames. unfortunately, he has no friends. arichizi and her consort are allowed to call him kal. hizi ALSO calls him sisi but only when she’s sick or very, very tired--it’s the name she used to call him when they were very young. kal likes his own name but dislikes / disliked the titles he used to have as ruler of kahal

33. what makes them cry?

arichizi, honestly. he’s very taciturn and reserved, whereas hizi is impulsive, brash, and is constantly getting into trouble or Political Incidents. kal doesn’t cry often because he’s generally pretty calm, but he can when he’s overwhelmed or angry.

uhhh i mean, it’s been a day!! class and stuff and i’m feeling a little... apathetic right now, but i plan on hanging with my friend and playing subnautica after class!! which will be nice (if not stressful lmfao that game is wild)

002.     what’s your current fav? tv show, game, person, character, food - anything! let’s hear ‘em!

i’ve always been real fuckin’ into kingdom hearts, so that’s always a fave. i’m also big into tg (obvs) and you can probably tell who my faves are. foods, i’m really into like... fancy shit. basically everything i had at that fancy restaurant was great (especially the venison tartare and the chicken liver pâté). i’m also real caught up on this cabernet sauvignon i had with my mom sunday night...

003.     is there a muse you’d like to play, or a muse you miss playing?

oooohh good question. hm. for “like to play,” i know me and @oculare keep joking about brother blogs for adam and eve once i finish nier, which tbh?? would be fun for a super low-activity thing (just for laffs). i plan on going back to @cloakedpride soon though because i really miss writing the like??? chaotic neutral bad adopted dad. kind of wild and unpredictable and super casual and dangerous. i miss him a lot.

004.     whats the ideal “end-game” for your muse? how does their happy ending look?

so, for shuu, that involves being away from kaneki. i need him far away so he can get over this fucking loyalty he’s got going on that’s quite literally killing him. i guess ideal endgame for him is him addressing his losses, confronting kaneki, and leaving to heal. he still has his dad and chie. they can be a little family. (ideally if naki comes back the real dream is them getting together but uhhh that’s super wishful thinking.)

and for chie, i think she’s fine? so long as she’s alive and involved with ghouls, i’m happy with her endgame. she doesn’t really have any big issues facing her, so as long as nothing terrible befalls her, her story could wrap up nicely at any time and i’m fine with that.

005.     are you similar to the muse you play? or are you very different? 

well the running joke in the discord is that i am shuu, which... i mean, we have our differences, but we are also quite similar. i’m a weird hybrid of both of these kids, honestly. i love aesthetic and good food and i’m kind of... unfamiliar with my emotions like shuu is, but like chie i also have some apathy issues. i’m similar enough to understand them.

006.     is there a specific distraction that stops you writing / studying etc.? how do you motivate yourself again?

a specific distraction? hm. i guess just the internet in general? once my anxiety gets too bad i snap out of it though. lol

008.     how did you start roleplaying? how long ago? did you find it weird at first?

this is gonna be... very weird sounding and i don’t remember how it started, but i had a friend in middle school and somehow we ended up roleplaying over the phone??? like, it was done kinda like, “oh she would do this,” and then in response, “oh, he’d do this.” kinda like that? and it was with fuckin tvd characters and an oc of mine. we moved it to text format on paper (back before i had a phone), and then once i got a cell phone we shifted to text. i think i found twitter after that, and then tumblr.

but this is also ignoring the childish larping of my youth that i grew up doing, so it never really felt weird.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration? The third student we hosted from Japan.  She was so brave and cool and I want to be just like her.

Are you satisfied with who you are? Yeah I think so

What song describes your current mood the best? I Love My Friends - Foster the People

What is something about you that you think surprises people the most? I have Ocular Myasthenia Gravis (or I guess had? when i was a kid) so I can’t control both eyes at once.  Most people think I have a lazy eye or just don’t notice at all but it’s there. This really gets people for some reason.  That and my Japanese major.

What did you have for breakfast today? A sandwich with spinach, turkey, picked red onions, and mayonaise with chopped basil mixed into it.

Do you practice any sort of meditation or mindfulness exercises? No.

If you were a plant, what kind of plant would you be and why? I don’t know but any like delicate indoor plant would work.  I never leave my house, I’m soft, and I need lots of attention.

What is your biggest personal achievement? I successfully held conversations in Japanese with 10 rich Japanese adults at a dinner party the day I turned 17 and it’s been TWO YEARs since that but I have never been so proud of myself.

Have you ever broken someone’s heart? I don’t think so.

What do you think of angels? They’re pretty cool? I believe in ghosts first though.

What’s the best way to spend an afternoon? A cup of Ginger turmeric tea with a spoonful of honey, indie music, and a good book

Spotlight on Nottingham’s Music Scene: Motormouf

Alex Young, better known by his stage name Motormouf is a beatboxer, loop-pedalist and self-proclaimed "hip-hop hippy". His smart wordsmanship, funky beats and psychedelic sounds have been making Notts’ gig-goers bop thier heads  for a good few years and he has been very successful in his field. Having supported big names such as Sugarhill Gang and The Furious Five, as well as placing high in international beatboxing and loop-pedal competitions, Mr.Mouf is someone you do not want to miss. After a busy few months having played festivals such as Boomtown, Eden Fest and many more, I managed to catch up with Alex and ask him a couple of questions about his work and his views on the Nottingham music scene.

You're well known for playing the festival circuit, what did summer 2017 have in store for you? A lot of fun! This year has provided me with mind blowing opportunities and have managed to connect with various artists who I now consider close friends. Next year is gonna be bigger and better, I can feel it already.

Who would you say is the most interesting person you've met through festivaling and what were they like? Wow! Where to start? Meeting Liverpool's The Isrights band at Beat Herder festival was really cool, really down to earth lads, very talented and they even let me play with them at Festival No. 6 a couple weeks ago. I also met an incredible rapper at Boomtown called Triple Vision who jumped on stage with me for a freestyle. Never met the guy but he blew my mind! Real raw energy and natural talent, we're now in talks of collaborating.

I'm aware that you're involved in a few bands as well as doing your solo stuff, could you tell me a bit more about those? I'm in quite a few yes: -The Nottingjam Orchestra - full improv band project -Dye Young - two piece dark blues rock/hip-hop -Jonjo - Grunge/psychedelic rock/trip-hop -Plasma Tiger - psychedelic punk/funk/hip-hop...a bit of everything! -Ashmouf - UK hop-hop/grime with a gypsy twist -Just James - sci-fi rock n roll/rave -ocular gyro crisis – improv’ UK hip-hop -Tye Died Psych - experimental psychedelic trip-hop

....I think that's it haha A lot of these projects are still in the pipeline but keep a look out for them

A loop-station is a pretty obscure thing to navigate, how did you first get in to it? Indeed they are! My friend Chris Miller was selling his two track Boss RC-30 back in December 2013 and I fancied giving it a go, especially when Just James wasn't as active due to priorities (uni, work....life! Haha). It took me a while to get my head around it and was very nervous for my first gig. but as soon as I got the hang of it, it opened up Sooo many doors for me and was finally able to perform solo confidently by combining beatboxing and rapping/poetry/singing vocals on top of my beats made live on the spot.

What would you tell someone who was looking to get in to beatboxing and loop work? Practice whenever and where ever you can! Once you've got your sound, go to EVERY open mic or jam session you can, whether it be venues or a friend's house. NEVER stick to one genre of music, diversity is key in the world of beatboxing and especially looping.

Have you got any projects in the works at the moment? I'm pretty much working on my solo work and collaborated projects at the same time. It's definitely a lot to juggle and has also prolonged material after already announcing rough dates etc. However, I have a lot of things to work on with these incredible people and each project has it's own different and original sound that it shall definitely be worth the wait....trus' meh! *evil laugh*

You've been funking around on the Notts music scene for a while now, what do you think about the talent we have locally? There's been a lot of electricity in the local scene right now, I guess it has for a while but these days there seems to be a very healthy buzz. The funk is definitely in the air, especially from bands like Boss Magnet! Real funky energy

Is there any acts in particular that you'd recommend? Autumn Diet Plans are one of my faves at the moment and also good friends of mine. I saw them play at Y Not festival this year, real grungy psychedelic fuzz! They were electric on stage!

Over the years you must have seen a lot of changes to the scene, is there any notable venues or acts you miss? I miss the Beatnik's Guild open mic's they used to host at the Hopkins shop/cafe on station street. They haven't been on since 2010 but I'll never forget those nights, such a welcoming atmosphere and had some serious jams there. In terms of acts, I wish The Breakfast Club were still around, I saw them once at rescue rooms and they were a lot of fun.

The Red String - Chapter 1

Author’s Note: So here’s the soulmate(ish) AU no one asked for. I’ve read so many good soulmate fics for FFXV and they inspired me to write my own. Rather than go with soulmate markings, though, I went with the “red string of fate” tale. I first heard about it from the anime Yu Yu Hakusho years ago. It’s funny that I’d remember that after all this time, but I took that idea and ran with it.

This is about Ignis (my one and only), but it features Prompto and Gladio quite a bit throughout the chapters (mainly Prompto, my 2nd fave). So yeah, I’ll quit rambling. My first ever multi-chapter fic featuring my one and only OC. Ignis x fem!OC. 1079 words. 

Chapter Masterlist

Ignis Scientia was a practical, logical man. He took his role as Prince Noctis’s adviser very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that he neglected to have much of a life outside of the prince. The guys always teased him about his lack of a love life, asking if he was just disinterested or secretly awaiting for fate to intervene. He always assured them that he just didn’t have time to think about love and that he was perfectly content with his life at the present moment. Truthfully, he wasn’t sure about having a life outside of his duties. He knew his friend wouldn’t begrudge him some personal time to himself or to a lover, but he didn’t think it was necessary. He didn’t place much stock in fate or destiny when it came to love either. He believed that there was a greater purpose in life and that the Astrals had a plan for humanity, but they probably had more important things to think about besides who he should fall in love with.

One day in particular when Gladio and Prompto were teasing him while on their way to the Citadel, Ignis reminisced back to a day from his youth in grade school when the teacher decided to indulge the students in some fun, thus taking a break from all of the rigorous studying and testing.

“Tell us a story!” One child piped up. Ignis rolled his eyes and lightly scoffed. The stories the other kids were into were always so juvenile and boring. Hardly any of the stories he had heard so far had piqued his interest.

“Okay,” said the teacher. “How about I tell you the story of the red string of fate?”

The class cheered in unison; Ignis rolled his eyes yet again. At this rate, he’d pull an ocular muscle. He buried his nose back in his book, determined not to pay attention.

The teacher shushed the class and began her story; the students sat silently, listening attentively. “It is said that each and every human has a person they are destined to spend their lives with. A soulmate, that is. The Astrals have bound them together with what most call the “red string of fate”. Each person has a red string tied around their pinky fingers. The other end of the string is tied to the pinky finger of their soulmate. No matter where they are, no matter what they are doing, their futures are intertwined. When their paths cross, the string pulls them closer together until it wraps around them, tying them together forever. One cannot deny the allure of a soulmate because he or she is their perfect match in every way possible. Though your string may get tangled or dirty or strewn about all over the globe, you will never separate from your soulmate and you will always find a way to come together.”

The class oohed and ahhed and chatted animatedly about who they thought their soulmates might be and how they’d go looking for them someday. Ignis sulked in his chair. Though he hadn’t planned on listening, the story engrossed him just as it did every other child in the room. He was furious with himself. “What a stupid idea,” he mumbled to himself. There’s more to life than just finding a soulmate. There are much greater things at stake in life.

Back in the present, now that he was in his early twenties and joking with his friends about finding love, the story was beginning to resonate with him. Why though? It was ridiculous to think that people were tied together in such ways. Maybe a small piece of him did want to believe in nonsense in order to escape reality. It would be nice to have someone to love and grow old with one day, but it’s not like that could happen for him anytime soon. His schedule was constantly booked. Besides, what made him special enough for the Astrals to intervene on his behalf?

“Have either of you fellows ever heard the “red string of fate” story? About how the Astrals have us all tied to our soulmates by a red string on our pinky fingers?” he inquired of his friends.

“Ha, of course I have! Dude, I would kill to actually have a soulmate. To be bound to someone who is perfect for me in every way possible. Though I really don’t see that as a possibility for me so far,” Prompto suddenly looked thoughtful and almost sad.

“Hmph,” Gladio grumbled. “He’s only saying that because in high school, none of the girls felt inexplicably drawn to him. Think maybe your clumsiness got your string cut ages ago?” he chided Prompto.

“Hey, that’s not funny!” Prompto flushed scarlet. “And what, you think each of the Astrals gave you a string for each finger? Is that why you hook up with so many women?”

“Hey, green doesn’t look good on you, man” Gladio chuckled. Prompto playfully smacked the lumbering man on the bicep who retaliated by grabbing the blonde in a headlock and ruffling his hair.

“Hey, it took me forever to fix that! Now I’ll have to get more gel out!” Prompto whined.

“Gentlemen,” Ignis sighed. “I was being serious.”

“Ah, I don’t believe any of those stories, Iggy.” Gladio stated. “We’re all just thrown into this life by the Astrals for their own amusement. If we manage to stumble around and find happiness, then we’ve got it made. Whether that happiness involves a lover or not is up to each of us.”

“Yeah, I mean, I have always wanted to find someone and settle down one day and have a family, but I don’t really think I’m destined for any particular person. It’s something you have to try out and work for,” Prompto added. “Why, do you believe in soulmates or something?”

Ignis flushed momentarily before regaining his composure. “Of course not, Prompto! I was just merely remembering the story and I found it odd and boring as a child. I didn’t actually believe it.”

“Oh, good. For a second there, Specs, I thought you’d lost your mind.” Gladio teased. He clapped his friend on the back and the trio began walking towards the Citadel to meet up with Noctis. Though Ignis laughed the whole situation off, he found his mind wondering back to the story and couldn’t help but picture a red string trailing behind him. Where it led, though, he knew not.

I think I may have been a magpie in a previous life. Show me anything shiny or eye-catching and consider my interest well and truly piqued. I tend to wear glitter all year, but you know… ’tis the season, so let’s all embrace the shimmer. Here’s my glowy make up edit… prepare to be dazzled!

When I say ‘glowy make up’ I have something to suit everyone: luxury treats and highstreet bargains; something a little bit subtle and along with a few things that are more in-your-face… let’s do this!

Just because you don’t like glittery eyeshadow or a shimmery lipstick, doesn’t mean you can’t embrace the glow. When I’m looking a little bit tired/grey/hungover, I mix a bit of the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer* into my foundation. It gives my skin a really sexy glow that I love. I also use 3INA highlighter in ‘201 Beige’* because you can never have enough highlighter in my opinion: I dust it across my cheekbones, cupid’s bow and brow bone to give a little dimension to my potato face.

If you want to try out a pop of colour then I recommend having a peek at the NYX range. Their products are so affordable, easily accessible on the high street, and offer some of the boldest and prettiest colours out there. The NYX Vivid Brights cream eyeshadow in ‘Light Show’ is an intense yellow-gold cream eyeshadow that you can wear in so many ways: swipe over the lid for a wash of colour; build it up with a brush for a more bold block colour, or use a thin brush to wing it out (as I did below).

For my birthday earlier this year, my husband offered to buy me the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad that I had my eye on. I thought I wanted ‘Dolce Vita’ – you know, the one everyone raves about – but as soon as I saw ‘The Vintage Vamp’ I was sold. Soft peach and gold shimmers mixed with red-purple mattes? DREAMY. This is a very wearable way to bring a bit of glitter into your life.

What is more festive than an eyeliner with green and red micro glitter? Nothing. The Studio London glitter eyeliner came as part of a pack and they are so, so affordable and very easy to use. The applicator is a little bulky for my taste, but for the price it’s brilliant and the glitter is very pigmented.

These bad boys are one of the best products I’ve tried in 2017 and there’s a colour to suit every taste in the range. Obviously I went for the most obnoxious one: Stila Magnificent Metals in ‘Diamond Dust’*, a silver holographic glitter that catches the light and looks even more spangly in person. It’s a little wet to apply straight from the applicator, so I like to apply a blob to the back of my hand and then apply to the lid with a brush. (Bloodshot eyes: model’s own. Oh the joys of ocular rosacea!)

A rose gold lipstick? You can practically hear the sighs of pleasure coming from across the blogosphere! I initially thought NYX Cosmic Metals liquid lipstick ‘Speed Of Light’* would be a matte lip cream (you all know they’re my faves) but this stays as a metallic cream lipstick. But it’s so flipping pretty I can forgive the formula.

The last item in this glowy make up edit is seriously festive: the YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in ‘I’m The Fire’. This arrived in a surprise parcel from my little sister (she knows me so well) and I’m in love! It’s a sparkly gold mascara that you can either apply to the end of the lashes over mascara (as below) for a subtle flash of metallic prettiness, or go full on layers of gold for an impactful look.
