AAAAAUUUUGHHHRRGHHH CHROME HARD CRASHED ON ME AND I LOST EVERYTHING. i can never make a tumblr post without being inturrupted.
*mario voice* OK AUTISM TIME
i made some new ocs for cody and wanted to refine his artstyle!! yknow, make it more real!! and this is what i (or HE) came up with :3 i think i like this more than the original
these are the characters he plays the most in Oaksage, basically the MapleStory of this realm. he grew attached to them and eventually formed lore for these guys outside of the Oaksage world itself. they're a group of incompetent space pirates that suck at their job but get things done against all odds <3
i will have to put a liittle bit more detail in their THs but honestly i don't really NEED to.. this game and these characters are gonna appear only so many times within the actual story. but i still want to... i love little meaningless little details that only i will pay attention to <3
oh also! the last page of his sketches features a guy i haven't uploaded on th yet! it's name is Cheese :3 it's not actually *from* OA, he completely made up the design, however he just really wanted a silly mascot for his pirate gang to have! he likes drawing it a lot. silly weature enjoyer <3
#HOW DO I TAG THIS#there must be other people who make ocs for their ocs right#ngl cody i don't want people to think this is MY artstyle :/ i mean it technically is but. like. cmon. *insane asylum patient*#i mean i already explained that its within his style but yknow only so many people read descriptions#anyways i'm working on the canon sprites of these characters within the game!!!#i'm almost done with the first character and i really like how its coming out i can't wait to post them all when theyre done :3#i forget how fun pixel art is#art#digital art#oh he made this in a program names Splash 2004 btw!1!#yes i downloaded macromedia flash 2004 just to draw in his artstyle <3 I HATE IT. ITS FILLED WITH RIDDLES AND RUNES#it also crashes all the time#ok uhhhh.#yeah idk#he has more ocs but he hasn't finished them yet </3 CMON DAKOTA CHOP CHOP!!! this is all your fault

I'm curious to know how you mastered anatomy? I mean, look at the subtle shadows around Roy's shoulder or the details along Staeve's arms or even the ups and creases on Astarion's face, I am truly amazed and see it and it makes your art style so good but I can't understand how you do that...
I know I lack that specific little details in my own art style but idk how to comprehend it, so did you actually study anatomy? Or did you like, vibe around? Or try to feel and visualize while drawing what the body feels like?
Amazing amazing artist you are mate, love you for sharing this with us!
It's honestly just been a matter of actively trying/learning to recognise muscle groups and joints over the years (plus a lot of my biggest artstyle inspirations are HEAVY on anatomical lines and accuracy). Also, as I've mentioned a bunch of times, I've always been involved or interested in high performance sports, acrobatics in particular, which made me pay a lot of attention to people's bodies from very early on (in a purely artistic way lmao)
These days a lot of it comes intuitively, but if I'm ever struggling or need a fullbody/more dynamic pose my first step is to outline the muscles in the sketch to see if anything's out of place. To aid me in this I sometimes have écorché (skinless) references either as pictures or in 3D. This sort of thing:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7e4b14cfd7c4611a57a6eb31dffe8bf0/27540bf269f49a45-8a/s400x600/5cdb7f2eac0096fc741d3986eaa6f8cfe6d17553.jpg)
There's a lot of online resources for this as well! I personally love this one
In my head things get converted to a puzzle of sorts, kinda like what these study notes look like (not mine, artist handle in the pictures):
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/425155939773717b91c9fed75614ac80/27540bf269f49a45-b4/s540x810/299e0a0349b858bc2acd1f9ab95eb4e6805335a1.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/85d58e7ddf76bfc54158f60115180711/27540bf269f49a45-22/s540x810/e46cdb3564a3f3d42ee99089c330418376f5d04c.jpg)
And then it's a matter of weighing in how thick a character's skin is (indicator of a bunch of things including age) and what the fat-muscle ratio looks like, to decide which structural lines stay and which ones go or become less prominent.
And yes this also explains why I have so many fit/lean characters. I get a kick out of drawing muscle groups lmao
All that being said! I'm still very far from my anatomy goals haha it's a work in process for all of us. Hope this helps!

etiquette for using & crediting art
right, well, I'll get straight to it instead of messing about like in my other tutorials. editblr has a serious problem with people not crediting artists, we all know that, I don't need to talk much about it. but I figured instead of just making one of those posts, I'd make one explaining the etiquette for such things and how you can appropriately use fanart in your edits. oh, and also what could happen if you refuse to offer those credits
contents table:
stop letting them use your shit to train ai models
why credit is important, and what lack of credit could potentially do to your account
how to source your fanart
how to differentiate fanart from official art
how to find credits for art blatantly stolen and reuploaded to pinterest when all the caption says is "credit to the artist!"
knowing and understanding artist boundaries
how to give appropriate credit
alright, cool, let's talk about it
— stop letting them use your shit to train ai models
if you've been on tumblr for a bit, or have just gone through the general settings, you'll probably have noticed that in the visibility tab there's this not-so-fun setting automatically turned off:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/50688efa46af17e6785e1a310d365c2c/602c528b551bcab4-a8/s540x810/e5d7910b0734f4f37a1a2f5cdc8ee0b4da8194d9.jpg)
yeah. that's fun, isn't it? since you're using fanart, and most artists don't support nor engage with ai, it's basic respect to opt out of such a thing.
settings -> visibility -> bottom option
— why credit is important, and what lack of credit could potentially do to your account
I feel I shouldn't necessarily have to explain why credit is important, but I will anyway. in the plainest terms, they made it, it's theirs, so credit them. it's a simple concept, no? hm, but I know that doesn't sound important to some people, so imagine if someone stole your edits and reuploaded them onto their own blog, but in the caption all it says is "idk who made this originally, sorry" or "credits to artist".. I bet you'd feel pretty pissed off about it, right? your hard work being stolen by someone you've never heard of, who didn't even bother putting in the effort to search for you.
another thing: credit is still important when they're a figurehead in the community you're editing for. yes, their artstyle may be familiar to you and the others in your fandom, but to an outsider it's just another piece of fanart that remains uncredited.
if you use art that doesn't belong to you, and the original artist finds it and doesn't want you using it, you could face a takedown. of course, most artists are kind and would send you a polite notice first, but there's always that chance they could send over a takedown request to your post and therefore your blog with zero warning. three of those, your blog gets deleted. they're incredibly easy to send off, and afaik tumblr gets to them pretty quickly.
oh, and also people typically don't look favourably on those who can't be bothered to credit artists, so you'll end up losing connections with other editors as well, if you care about that.
— how to source your fanart
stay away from pinterest. I cannot stress this enough, I understand that pinterest is by far one of the easiest platforms to find fantastic art on, but having proper credits is more important than the 5 minutes of time shaved off by stealing a reupload.
twitter, instagram, tumblr, pixiv, and deviantart are all good places to search. though, do make sure to check for ai on deviantart especially, it's like a rat infestation over there.
— how to differentiate fanart from official art
fandom wiki. I know, we all hate fandom wiki, but whether your media is popular or unpopular it's likely to have a fandom wiki dedicated to it, and people will archive all official art there. if you're unsure, cross-examine the potential fanart piece with the archive.
if you hate fandom wiki that badly, there's also archival accounts scattered across different platforms, so you can use those.
if the art is official, then for company-ran medias it's normally okay to just add "all art is official" or leave it uncredited; though that's also somewhat of a dick move. but for smaller things like web-comics and games that aren't hosted on any big site, and have no huge monetary support, it's nice to include the name of the artist and/or creator.
— how to find credits for art blatantly stolen and reuploaded to pinterest when all the caption says is "credit to the artist!"
reverse image search, that's my simplest answer. with chrome at least, it comes with a built-in reverse image searcher called google lens. it's normally highly efficient, so for most art pieces it'll pick up on the artist pretty quickly.
but what if it doesn't? what if it just links back to the original pinterest post instead? well, the weird thing about google lens in particular is that it initially retrieves one post it thinks it could originate from—probably the post with the most traffic going to it, but it then also features a "see exact matches" option underneath that first photo.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/22ac786a142ee787f2a7d3f5379ef3a0/602c528b551bcab4-28/s540x810/953f710298060ce8a069447af38e6f7ffd69ce83.jpg)
if you click it, it'll show you a whole lot more examples of the art being used.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6804f42273944dfdedaaf5f93caee80b/602c528b551bcab4-66/s640x960/41885121916b1d621157586c17b12714d54cc37b.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d9140ba1d89e6e21273678cbbf6a933f/602c528b551bcab4-68/s640x960/004f2d2c455275c82e15e80550c29f5e4dc3cb5e.jpg)
normally, you can use that to figure out who made the art, since it'll show you similarly popular recorded instances. however, there are also times when even that fails to grab a source, and you're left only with confusing results. what do you do then?
well, you can either resort to clicking on random sites until you find a username, or you can give up and find a different piece of art to use. it's really just a process of rinse and repeat until you find something usable.
— knowing and understanding artist boundaries
artist boundaries are typically easy to see and simple to understand. they're normally just in the bios of the artists, which is super helpful. however, sometimes they're kept within links placed on the accounts instead. if you can't immediately see a list of boundaries, then instead start looking for (typically) a link to one of these sites:
carrd
rentry
strawpage
lit.link
skeb (though skeb can sometimes block itself if you have parental controls on, so be aware of this)
scour through them, and you should get an understanding.
right, and for artists who have bios in foreign languages; just translate it, it's not as if google translate or deepl are impossible to use. not knowing the language isn't an excuse anymore.
however, if they still don't have one available, you might have to start searching keywords on their accounts. of course, such things aren't really possible on da or instagram, but on tumblr and twitter, search up these keywords before giving up on an art piece:
credit
pfp / icon / profile picture
use
your art
on tumblr especially, most asks are tagged with something or other, so you can scroll through and check to see if there's anything there too.
and if there's still nothing.. well, just ask the artist about it. if you don't want to do that, then it's not a good idea to use it, and it's back to the drawing board for you.
— how to give appropriate credit
by including "art credit - (username)" in the description, ordinarily. however, you should note that most people who use rentry graphics don't care for art credits, and won't include them if they're using said graphics. so, that's why you put a watermark on it, so it's basically like forcing credit to be given. it doesn't have to be anything big or flashy, but it does need to be readable, so simple fonts work well.
oh, and ideally there should be a direct link back to the art piece, so if people want to use it also they don't have to scroll through someone's entire account trying to find it.
anyway, hope that helped somewhat. if it didn't, then pop into my askbox and I'll explain things further.

Do you have any tips on how to study an artist style because I haven't been able to find a video on YouTube to help me☹️💔
Oof yeah Youtube usually just has the “how to find your artstyle” vids (which are all bullshit tbh but I digress)
Ok tbh I barely do art studies, so I would try and explain how I would do an artstyle study myself and hope that helps dhhxhxhx
The thing about an artstyle, is that it’s a bit unique to each person, and not just in terms of one single thing, but everything from how they do their lineart, to coloring, shading, etc
Not only that, but an artstyle changes and grows with the person as they learn more and more about their preferences, no artstyle stays the same forever
Not only that, but depending on the artist’s artstyle, it could be really easy to study cause the artist is consistent with their art, or really difficult cause the artist has no set artstyle and they change constantly
That’s why I’d say the best way to approach it is to study it bit by bit, and not to overwhelm yourself trying to take in how an artist does something all at once during practice
But the biggest thing that I’d say would make you understand another artist’s artstyle is observation
Take multiple artworks from the artist you wanna study and just take them in, observe everything about them
Do they use lineart or are they lineless, if they use lineart are their linestrokes thick or thin, is their lineart clean or is it messy, if it’s messy, how messy? Is the lineart angular or round generally? Or maybe they use both angular and round edges?
Are their lines curved or very straight? Does their line weight change in the same linestroke or does it have the same line weight throughout? Do they tend to do their lines in one single clean stroke, or do they tend to re-emphasize their lines by 2 or 3 more strokes in the same place?
What kinda brush do they seem to use? Is it a very textured brush or is it a very clean inky brush?
How do they color? Do they use bright and saturated colors or do they go for muted and dark colors? Maybe something in between? How do they shade? Do they use cell shading with hard edges, or do they use soft shading, do they blend it in or keep the edges of their colors bold and sharp? Maybe both?
How do they shape certain things? Maybe their artstyle relies heavily on rectangular shapes, maybe their artstyle shapes certain things to be round and others as cubic in the same artwork
And so on
Then after observing as many artworks by eye as you can, go for actual practice
Take a shot at trying to replicate their artstyle, it doesn’t have to be perfect, just as close as you can
Again, try it to take it one step at a time, at first try to focus on the lineart for example and nothing else, just try replicating that, just so you won’t overwhelm yourself with information and end up thinking it’s way harder than it truly is
Hell maybe you aren’t really interested to understand their lineart, maybe you like their coloring, and so just focus on how they color and try coloring the same way they do with your own art
Sometimes you get really stuck with something, or you try and replicate something and you genuinely couldn’t at all, in that case, I would say, if possible, try contacting the artist you’re trying to study the artstyle of, many artists would be happy to help where they can and give you a direct response and instructions to how they do a certain thing in their artstyle (I definitely would)
So, with all that out of the way, Imma give you an example, it’ll be a very quick example without much depth, but just to give you the general idea to use as a basis
(I’ll be using my own artstyle as an example cause idk if other artists would be comfortable with me using their art without permission dggdgdggd)
Again, this is just a very quick example, you can actually take one artwork and study it to every little detail, then work your way up to multiple artworks at a time
Uuuh that’s all I can honestly give, hope it helps, good luck with your artstyle study <3333333

can you do a style tutorial?? dude there's geniunally nobody else who draws like you, your art is so poetic and divine, it's inspiring
WAAA THANK YOU ANON OH MY DAYS ??? genuinely this is one of the nicest compliments ive ever received on my art omga what .
im not very good at explaining things but eem ill try !!
i feel like one of the biggest things is the sort of sketchy/messy vibe .. i use a super tiny brush ('digital brush' on ibis (its a premade lol) on size 1-2) and kind of scribble scrabble sometimes .. i also dont do lineart, i cant be bothered to do allat so i just clean up my sketch using an eraser !
i also stay away from using curves and instead try to use as many straight edges as possible if that makes sense .. also arbitrary lines in the drawing are a must . i think thats one of my fav parts of drawing :)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d2ff104f2bcff19ab7ece505e8098729/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-d5/s540x810/ca74145bc6e1257ae374545b68d39c5cb9f2bebc.jpg)
when it comes to coloring and rendering, i start by adding a darker, slightly more saturated color for shading, then blend it out with a midtone, do thr same for lighting, and then i add details !!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/70ee59b8ed1c5d1299c283fff136a8f1/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-b5/s540x810/50203ed2761125148158d9372789a8b7e5bc6322.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1a79e53bb973294891ea996c1de26796/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-17/s540x810/90f410424339b72f164ce924d38586b94f8d8426.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/20da1d3a78e8d99f11069c69b2bc805f/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-be/s540x810/1a50b5c9cae501540cf3cdb2091d73cef2721fe6.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e5877d8f39efd683e7c3a4c6063f39a4/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-da/s540x810/7d23b1940f7c6773cd2362c27fd548b8d66023f7.jpg)
ive also been told that my usage of warmer tones is recognizable, and i achieve that by playing around with the 'color balance' filter on ibis until im happy with the results
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/56168c0f685eb19b63a07b842ecdc2a8/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-5e/s540x810/81ad2fc7cf4e39407b888f0f50efe6d49055c3f2.jpg)
for shading, i use a dark color (anywhere between blue and red, depending on the character and environment) for shading and a light yellowy color for lighting on an overlay layer ! then (also on overlay) i use those colors to add more arbitrary lines and scribbles
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/20411f1b4d566e6cd41c627d2e2ff3ae/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-4d/s540x810/c299de830fc8df7bbb96c4ba921bad815952abc0.jpg)
here i kind of tried to break down my sketching process, idk if it makes sense or not tho😓
my current artstyle is the result of six or so years of constant drawing and growing and experimenting !! experimenting with your artstyle is a huge factor in allowing it to evolve as well as for you to find what works the best .
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bd91640eec5a5cfeaf8ed12cb1adb7ff/28f4c5f47f8cfe7f-fc/s540x810/cf97d5af9208c8ef82c420664b8f9893b8ac1c4f.jpg)
referencing/figuring out how specific artists that you like achieve their artstyles is super good for experimenting !! in 2021 i was a huge fan of bellasaurus and animatedwings, so i referenced their art a lot, picked out what i liked, and incorporated it into my own style :)
i didnt include humans in this because im not very confident when drawing them and still have to heavily reference things lol .. maybe another day
overall just have fun and go with whatever feels right ! below ill attach some of my art pieces broken down if you want to use them as a reference

Hello! I have been following you for a while and first of all I want to say that your artstyle and character designs are stunning! You have a great sense of creativity and an eye for detail like I am always happy to see a new character of yours or their redesigns when they appear on my timeline (let's say that they make me really THINK about my own character designs and inspire me to always try and redesign them with more thought than before :D). I hope one day I will gather myself up and be able to commission you because I really wish to 😭
But my main question which had been in my mind for a while: You made a little post about explaining what Wojapi is a while back and I realized that it looks really similar to a food that my country (funny enough It's Czechia where we use the ž and š which you know but still I find it as a funny coincidence) has and specifically my smaller region where I live and we call it Žahour -> which is a not too sweet, not too sour, hot sauce made out of forest blueberries that is usually served either with pancakes or a HUGE puffy dumpling with no filling and usually no strong taste! I can tell you It's really good but I think you can imagine pretty well how it could taste like :D
I don't think they are in any way connected they just became their own things sepparated from eachother in each culture but still I think It's really nice and I wanted to thank you for kinda reminding me that Žahour exists since I haven't had it in a long time and I honestly miss it. That is all from me and I hope you have a nice day! ☀️
They you so much 🥺 that’s so touching, I love character design so much I’m so happy you enjoy it. idk if I talked about the orthography I used but it is Czech actually and I believe has the same rules. It’s a big controversy because it was made and owned but a “European, White, Czech, guy who has since copyrighted his orthography of the Lakota language. There’s many orthographies for Lakota it was never a written language I personally use the Czech one because of my dyslexia and it has indicators where the sounds are supposed to go, and I know people who worked on it. So the older orthography and more popular was “wojapi” and I used the Czech “wožapi” spelling not to come up in google searches for the food Wojapi lol. Boiling berries is definitely a universal dish, but I think žahour might be the closest to wojapi in texture and taste some of the pancakes even look like fry bread

eye symbolism?? idk man its late and i have thoughts (this is about bakugou btw)
so in mha's artstyle the child characters are drawn with big eyes (which is not unheard of in anime and manga) and i got to thinking that this probably symbolizes some sort of childhood innocence (being kids and all)
so bakugou, has innocence in these flashbacks right? hes just a kid after all (his eyes are a touch smaller and more angular which is either just a stylistic choice or something ill dig real deep into at some point idk im just trying to crank these words out before i go to bed)
but obviously the big-eyed look is not on bakugou for very long as if we look at him nowadays his eyes appear to have shrunk just a tad
(also, sidenote: do you even understand how hard it is to find a picture of bakugou thats not either fan art or surrounded by hearts and shit? sorry anyway)
look at them dinky eyes. now what has happened to this goblin of a boy? ill tell you.
society
^please read that in a posh old timey british accent please it makes it funny please laugh at my jokes i promise im actually funny guys i swear
anyway lets get into quirkism (is that the word? idk). so because reasons i dont need to explain, quirkism is deeply ingrained into society, so when children develop (or dont develop) their quirks, the 'strong' kids are idolized by not only their fellow children but their teachers and adults in their life as well, which may lead to a somewhat inflated ego....not gonna name names but BAKUGOUBAKUGOUBAKUGOUBAKUGOUBAKUGOUBAKUGOU
anyway
so hes been hardened by societys expectations of him so of course hes gonna be a little mean (okay i admit a little is a bit of an understatement given the whole 'kill yourself' bit, not his finest moment, i must say) so am i excusing his behavior? NO! HE DID A BAD THING
however it would not have reached that point if someone had intervened. maybe said something along the lines of 'hey bakugou maybe dont bully that guy thats really shitty' but bakugou never faced any consequences for it really. his gaggle of goons encouraged it and the teachers never stopped it.
this post started with eyes...i got a little side tracked...whoops anyway back to eyes
you may be thinking: 'mia youre stupid and wrong, the change in eye size is just to show that bakugou is older.' and to that i say NUH UH
i raise you midoriya
TAKE A GANDER AT THEM BIG OLE EYEBALLS!
i think they represent his hope and resilience and his willingness to be vulnerable
eyes are the window to the soul and his are so big you can see right through them. you can SEEEEE
but bakugou yall, he got them dinky eyes. theyre small and closed off because he sees vulnerability as a weakness. what does bakugou hate? being weak. so hes got small eyes so no one can see him
anyway i totally read wayyy too much into that but i mean, let a gal have fun

I really love your artstyle so I wanted to ask whether there was any inspiration behind it? I don't really think you can just "find" your artstyle without putting any thoughts at all behind it, so maybe some favourite artists by who you were inspired? Even when you draw in different styles it's still kinda recognisable that you were the one to draw it
Oh wow! That's a big question because I take a lot of inspiration from artists that I can't recall, but I will try!
I think the first ever thing that really influenced my style was..... jjba. Idk if there's still anything resembling arakis style in my art but it was a huge stepping stone so I think I have to mention it
Another very important inspiration for me was Marc Chagall... I got a book about his work in the moscow jewish theatre and I think it seriously altered my brain chemistry. The compositions and shapes he uses are crazy. Also fun fact my great grandpa was a student of his

![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/88f6206747bc81dce1d28880ace3fc85/8ad4294c13bb853f-98/s400x600/c9149d08d93bd8db181e61787da0dbe9e17b94db.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3e7e712252a35c01d56f7c6db529b5ab/8ad4294c13bb853f-d9/s540x810/a0809deb5f9fa3a7bd7bc8362f0123f313937599.jpg)
I think medieval manuscripts in general have been a big source of inspo for me in recent years especially after getting into pentiment and french monarchy rpf (dumas' valois trilogy). I think you can really see my inclination towards very flat & structured (? Idk how to explain this) compositions. Also sometimes I just straight up copy the style like in that one idiot fanart. It's very fun and serves well for the kind of media i usually like
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/43c6a0ae657519d574ea3d8d1d06a81c/8ad4294c13bb853f-26/s400x600/f7237702ae8758cdaaaae975c502bac067198ccd.jpg)
(Ft a stavos wip I drew a while ago but it's kinda nothing so I didn't post it)
Umm I think artists like Hugo Pratt and Gigi Cavenago also made an impact. Pratt especially in later Corto Maltese comics, like golden house of samarkand for example. For Gigi Cavenago is just the covers of dd lmao AGAIN WITH THE COMPOSITION AND COLORS... they're just so good
More artists: Harry Beckhoff, Tove Jansson, uhhhh. There's a lot I just don't remember currently sorry!
Also some artists online that are big inspirations for me:
Ruiriell
Antikovich
Cy_lindric
Puyogho
And my pinterest board with a lot of other stuff
That's it I think. Thank you for the ask!!!
#ask#theres probably a lot more but i cant remember anything rn#this was hard but thank u i needed to do something in the airport

Which of your TMayNT pieces were your favorites to do?
Do you have any favorite TMayNT posts you've seen from others?
As far as my own stuff goes -- I always have a good time with traditional art, so Day 16 and Day 21 were a lot of fun! And I also like making simple little animations, so I enjoyed doing Day 24 as well!
As far as others' art... I'm so awful at picking favorites, so I hope you don't mind that I'm just gonna have to list a whole bunch again! I'll put that under a cut, because it's gonna be lengthy. (And I don't really know if people like being tagged when I mention their stuff, or if they find it annoying... so, um... sorry if it's the latter!)
As an appreciator of traditional art, I really liked seeing @strawberry-ren's drawings -- especially Leo and April! They're beautiful drawings, and are colored so incredibly well!
@kesoyotes has a really pretty artstyle! It's very vibrant and clean, if that makes sense. I particularly liked April and Donnie!
@artsybun's art was all so good! I really liked this Leo drawing, this one of the turtle tots, and this one of 2012 Splinter... and THIS MASTERPIECE, of course!! I love that particular drawing so so so much!
@annaliearts also had some incredible pieces! I especially loved this '03 Donnie, and this one of '03 Splinter with the baby turtles. I mean, just look at Splinter's face!! And those precious babies!
And speaking of baby turtles -- there were SO MANY good turtle tot drawings for day 4! I loved this one by @cacutus, with the baby turtles sleeping all over their Dad! And this one by @sky317, because just look at Mikey's little face! And Raph in the teapot! I loved this one by @sad-leon, because I adore the way they draw their little expressions so much! And idk how to explain it, but like... their positioning, I guess? The way Leo's leg is just plopped down over Donnie like that -- it's the cutest thing! And I really liked this one by @sariphantom -- look at the babies' faces!! Leo sticking his tongue out, and tiny Donnie being so angry! I also really liked this one by @vdragon-creations (which was for day 11, but it does also include baby turtles)! The way '03 Splinter is looking at the babies -- ohh, my heart!! He loves them so much!!
There were so many good Aprils as well! I adore the way April is holding Mayhem in this one by @temva, and the coloring in this one by @just-another-tired-gay-artist is so cool! And I love both the perspective and background in this one by @matryoshkalex.
I love @frosteaart's coloring style so much! The lighting is beautiful, and it makes each scene so... is aesthetic the right word? Like, I want to flip through a whole art book full of it! I particularly liked the drill, Karai, and this Insane in the Mama Train redraw.
I also loved a lot of @heck-theo's art! If I had to make a short list, I'd say this one of Mikey with Draxum, and this one of Mikey with Splinter, because I just love the way he's hugging/holding his dads! And then this one of April, and this Evil League of Mutants scene, because they're both exceptional art pieces!
I also love anything that makes me laugh, so this tech-bo drawing by @hoodiehorizon, and this one by @cookieturtle26 are on that list! They make me smile!
I really enjoyed seeing all of the collages by @boxfullaturtles, especially Splinter, Shelldon, and Leatherhead!
I also loved the coloring on this Leo by @kurashikimisaki, the style of these Leos by @neon-mega-turtle, and this little Beebop & Rocksteady GIF by @jadetheblueartist... and probably a whole lot more that I just can't remember right now because there is just SO MUCH good art!!
#ask#TMayNT#sorry it took a while to answer#it's been a really busy week but I wanted to make sure I got all the links put in there too!

How do you make your art so... symmetrical?? I can't find a proper word for it but it's so nostalgic (konda gives me Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends) but also modern?? How dors the process go? Also I really like it!
I really don’t know how to explain but i’ll try 👍
Well i to like remember each stroke of each character if that makes sense?
When i do a sketch i do like two, one very simplified which is mostly more like silhouette and pose and then i do it more detailes adding hair, clothes, etc.
Then the lineart i do it all in one stroke or like that and then erase the extra parts idk
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7670dbdb58bc4ba561055b2155445444/652db634e05a8f53-71/s540x810/7c35d47a101d3588f2ec3fa426dca16f81b01ab6.jpg)
And when i make hands i use total drama hands references xd
With the rest of stuff well i normally use very saturated colors cuz they’re epic and use funny shapes
And by what you said abt my style gives you nostalgia maybe is because i inspire my artstyle of 2000s cartoons like total drama and stuff
I hope it makes sense

Hip hip hooray! I actually finished a fan made brawler design instead of drawing a few concepts and then abandoning it. Her name is Les, short for Leslie. She is an epic brawler, she is a support. She is like a test bot who works around Starr Park, obviously she helps people, she can perform first aid etc etc. I dont plan on giving her a trio (thats too much work..) or adding her to an already existing trio because she doesnt fit any of them.
She probably doesnt fit the artstyle, I gave her Lou's eyes with some eyeshadow and lashes. One of her arms is a needle, its replacable. (Because needles like these are for single use.) And thats how she fights as a brawler, she pokes brawlers with that thing. She can heal her teammates with it too. Her reloading animation can be changing the needle.
I had to tie her to the Starr Park lore somehow and I came up with some idea. This is probably gonna be a long post. You guys know I love writing long ass posts :3
In my AU Starr Park was originally a robot company named Starr Bots, after their sales went down hill, they decided to open a amusement park for some side income and to market the robots. The whole reason why there are robot brawlers is this. (BUT, Nani is made by Pam for example, Idk how to tie that to the story, I think she can work as an engineer at the company?) Instead of hiring actual people they just produce robots and they work as security (Larry and Lawrie, R-T) or sell (Lou) stuff, they also dont get paid while you need to pay money to your human employees. So its a win-win for the company. They also test their robots around the park, Les (Leslie) is a test bot who is a nurse. Starr Company performs tests to see if she can really help people. Her job is to help human employees and customers, like giving first aid or calling an ambulance if an emergency happens. If she passes the tests, Starr Company will mass produce her. Also the legality of something like this is questionable but since they have money, I think they will be able to get away with anything. Also unlike Larry and Lawrie or R-T she is not aware of the dirty secrets of this place. Plus, Starr Park has human medical staff too, a single robot wouldnt be able to handle all the Parks health issues.
She loves helping people, she tries her best to stay calm in most scenarios. I feel like she would think human life is sacred and should be protected at all costs. Sometimes she gives advice to people at Barley's bar to explain the harms of alcohol. (She scolds a little.) She can measure peoples stress levels and give them advices too. A place like Starr Park needs a sweetheart like her. Although she works this close to humans, she actually wants a proper connection. She hangs out with robots or employees all the time but she doesnt feel drawn to any of them. Until Meeple. She somehow developed a crush on Meeple after their first interaction (I dont know what that interaction is either.) but she doesnt come to understand how to work it out. Instead she tries to focus on her work and avoid them at all costs. She is amazing when communicating to people, but when it comes to Meeple its a different story. She slurs the words all the time or she simply short circuits. She is like a teenage girl (she is an adult btw.) when it comes to romance. Meeple probably doesnt have any clue why she acts so weirdly around them. They are gonna learn the reason if Les can muster up her courage and confess her feelings. (%90 success rate, she should go for it.)
At first I solely made her to ship with Meeple. I know I said I didnt liked them but they kinda grown on me. Im a sucker for OC x canon. Live laugh love OC X canon. Besides that, Im gonna explain some stuff furtherly in future posts, like how their relationship develop, more about my AU and so on. Until then <3
Edit: Thank you so much for reading this long, you have no idea how much it means to me friend.

Can i just say how much i freaking love the work you two are doing, Holly hell this is some wild stuff as veteran of hello neighbor you two are making me proud of this small community that is running on tumblr!
Also i hope you two don't mind me asking two questions.
Firstly, If one of you two had the control over welcome to ravenBrooks show what will be some things you two will change.
Secondly, What are you're thoughts on the artstyle of the show considering that Man of Action is working on the show?
Okay to start, I know I say it every time we get asks like this but y'all are genuinely so sweet and nice and it's just really really cool to see people enjoy our stuff. Like- especially fellow old fans of the franchise. I know Kaydin also really appreciates how sweet you guys are but just idk it feels like my fandom dreams come true when people like things like our au and art for this series
As for your questions...
Personally, to start, and this is Jack being slightly particularly- idk nitpicky? But there are three things I'd want to just- fix immediately and all three of them are Nicky related.
Number one, his shirt. I'm sorry guys but I've been here since the alphas and I didn't even realize this was his Sharkotron T-shirt. It's- It's just an egg
Number two, I realized after intense studying of Nicky's- face that it looks really weird when he's front facing, but his nose is facing right. So scenes like this suddenly seem- off model for no reason? I've poorly edited the image below to fix both of these
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/11189ef6575df719beb39750aa90468f/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-5e/s540x810/5f42536d0fca9ca4b3ef675a6942d14ebfa2f3c3.jpg)
Yes I am too lazy to edit them properly, sadly. Did make his shirt logo still one colour for ease of animation. Idk why but left facing nose Nicky just looks less weird. Just me and kaydin? Maybe.
Number three- uh... that hairline is atrocious /lh
I know he wears his goggles in the show like constantly but also- this is a 13 year old boy guys. I was 13 once and I have a very flat (minus a widows peak) hairline, but it did not stop my hair from falling all over my face, and I think it's fair to assume the same for the kid who's hair refuses to behave anyway
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4fa24cd8d9d9c9ab391ef62ff79c32af/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-b6/s540x810/c27bbc75ca03d3d03beb0ddc5a9817f7de31e108.jpg)
Just fluff him up a lil (again I'm sorry these aren't better edits lol)
You don't even have to have it show when his goggles are up because like a headband or headphones it pushes hair back, or otherwise
Although ironically while I'm explaining what I would change in the designs, I don't mind the art style at all, actually I kind of love it. Sure some things you kinda of have to get used to, like their ears being pretty low to the head, but in general I think it really fits the franchise. I know it didn't look too drastically different from the pilot, but there's so many little nuances in the designs that just make it better (especially when you look at characters like Trinity)
I've told Kaydin a dozen and a half times how I think show Nicky is the franchise's second best design for him. The first being this singular piece of art from Nicky's Diaries, like I have gone on for hours about why this rendering of him is just perfect.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f7bcc50632e2bdf44915f284908f8f10/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-d0/s540x810/7a8ad19aff7e91814c34cda359f54fac86f8d060.jpg)
Third being fan renders, followed by the book artstyle, the pilot and finally games
And while other designs I wasn't sure about when watching through the show the first time, really just lore hunting instead of caring about anyone who wasn't Trinity or Nicky ngl, when I started doing my expression analysis I realized just how nice the designs and individuality of the characters are. If you put Nicky's expressions oh Enzo or Ivan's on Trinity it wouldn't fit and that's something I don't think people would expect from a Hello Neighbor cartoon.
They also have things I can just appreciate as someone who's special interest is animation (but doesn't have the patience to animate TvT gotta love audhd) for example, just having shading even in shots where they could completely go without it. It makes it less drastic and a smoother transition when lighting gets intense. They're also now afraid to switch up camera angles and push the rigs for a more intense shot.
Also something I really appreciate
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/567a0bc3f76d987ac25e56fcfe5939bc/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-3f/s540x810/9cda67d6fbec3c4c56d67c3ab2d920abc654c165.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9d31c0d91187d9f78cedfd0cfc235921/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-b8/s540x810/c02539a23bae46f4470b62e24716506c48a958b3.jpg)
Smear frames!
God I love smear frames!!! It's another one of those things that It's like- knowing how much this cost Tinybuild, they could've easily cut it down to save money. But it just wouldn't have been as nice without it.
Sure there are probably people who look at the fact that Man of Action is working on the show and are disappointed by the art style. But I say this entirely genuinely when I say I couldn't picture this show looking any other way and working as it does.
Yeah, they could've used more realistic proportions for these kids, but it works so much better when it's pushed like this when Mr. Peterson is nearly double their height. He's visibly a hulking intimidating man who could lift a middle schooler and lock them away. You fear his build which contrasts his outfit best (really feels like they took the book description of him and just pushed it, as we know he doesn't have this same stature in the games)
Plus it feels like in general, they stopped focusing on that dumb "Oh we need to hide things in every frame" which- thank God. Sure they are still hiding little details, hell I have changed a whole chunk of theory about Theodore's relationship with his son because of something I found on accident
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d6896d1c83ab180abe6a014a3fcd18bb/2c4d5a8e9d5fc1ba-14/s540x810/aaff1a5c69c90a3b780e4d53537dd21a7aa5bce1.jpg)
This photo of (seemingly) 12 year old Aaron Peterson.
I'm not gonna go into it here lol because this is already long and it's supposed to be about the animation.
Are they still building mysteries and people are still crafting theories? Absolutely! Not a day goes by that I haven't been thinking about whether or not Aaron will ever be seen in the series in the present day and if he is, what he will be like mentally.
But the point is, they're focusing on crafting something GOOD over just theory fodder. Both animation and story-wise, and I can appreciate that so much.
Like- this is gonna be a really hot Jack take here so be aware.
I enjoy this franchise and it's spinoffs much more than the FNAF franchise.
Sure, Hello Neighbor one is and will always be awful. But I am 100x more likely to play Hello Neighbor 2 or Secret Neighbor than I am to play any fnaf game myself.
When I make fnaf content it is almost entirely AU based. Because the idea of getting lore super wrong since I just can't be bothered to try and figure that convoluted mess out is annoying. Why even try to solve lore if I need to read more than 10 books for a minor detail that becomes a major antagonist? We can't even get a full confirmed backstory for the main antagonist!
But with Hello Neighbor they realized that people don't want to be jumping through 50 hoops for lore. Yes we want mystery, but one we can solve without dumb contrivances and plot holes.
Do I still love FNAF? Of course. My senior quote is from William Afton ffs ("You may not recognize me at first, but I can assure you, it's still me") but one of these franchises is growing to better itself and gain more love, while the other is slowly becoming more of something I enjoy without trying to understand, and I think the Hello Neighbor animated series is- the pinnacle of this difference.
I love Welcome to Ravenbrooks. I love Hello Neighbor. I can’t wait to see what comes next from TinyBuild, and how season two will be even better than season one. (As proven by the fact that Nicky gets to yell louder in that one teaser clip alone than anyone got to in season one lol)
#welcome to raven brooks#hello neighbor welcome to raven brooks#hello neighbor#hnas#answering asks#ask response#nicky roth#seriously kinda love fluffed up Nicky though#he's so silly#also nicky's hairstyle in show matches his in book description very well to me#how it sticks up to the side no matter how much he wets it#so real as someone with fluffy hair too
