The Gator Boys & The Moon Witch Ch4~
Slivers of the misty moonlight slipped in through the cabin window, scattering glowing fractals of light across the kitchen. Tonight had been…wild, to say the least. It was touch and go for awhile, but Timmy did surprisingly well under the pressure, and the two even managed to get Bodie (The man’s name, as she had figured out) back to his own bed where he was now sound asleep.
The younger gator on the other hand, did no such thing. Since Bodie had been stable, Timothy busied himself with any task he could find, no matter how trivial. Only now, had he found himself with literally nothing more to do than sit and wait. Esther placed her broom basket, (containing one sleeping Bella) in the corner of the room, glancing over at Timmy. The boy sat on a worn down old sofa, dark bags circling his sleep deprived eyes. The boy looked… well just terrible to be quite honest. But aside from the physical exhaustion it seemed that being left alone with nothing but his thoughts was eating at him.
Esther took the liberty of sitting down next to the fatigued youngster. “You were really brave, y'know.” She commented, “even if your plan wasn’t exactly-” she trailed off as stifled hiccups escaped the young man. He had been bottling up for what felt like forever, and now he had nothing to distract him. He drew his hands up to his face in a vain attempt to dam the river of emotion. A gentle touch guided them away. Timothy gazed up at the woman, watery, amber pools of remorse met deep, mahogany eyes. “Is my- is he?” He faltered, “is he gonna be okay?” The woman paused, studying the boy’s downcast expression. “He ain’t out of the woods yet, but the worst has passed.” She reassured, “We caught it in the nick of time too.” The halfblood seemed to calm somewhat at the women’s words. “He’s lucky to have you ya’know.” She commented, giving the boy a nudge with her shoulder. Despite her efforts this only seemed to worsen Timmy’s mood. His leathery tale wrapped around his legs, (which where now in the fetal position.) “No, um he-he’s really not.” He hiccuped, finally succumbing to the flood of emotion that he had been holding back for some time now.
Quiet, shivering sobs escaped the halfblood, as he cupped his face, ashamed. Esther placed a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder as he wept. Careful not to overwhelm him, she let the gator cry it out. Cry away all that poison that had been hurting him, all the guilt weighing him down. After what felt like hours Timothy was finally able to catch his breath. “I’m so sorry sweet pea,” she cooed, “I can only imagine you’ve got about a dozen bees in your bonnet right now…but you’ve got to understand this isn’t your fault-” “But it is!” The boy shot back, swatting the woman’s hand away, “He’s got shot because of me! Because I was being stupid! If I had just been more careful then maybe…” Timothy withdrew a little, Bodie would have tanned his hyde for snapping so rudely at anyone, let alone someone who had been so kind. “I-I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to- you've been so kind! And I just…” he faltered, observing Esther’s expression, “You didn’t deserve that, I’m sorry.”
The woman watched Timmy’s expression fall once more. “I was out fishin on the far side a’the swamp… didn’t tell Bodie where I was going, an when he came lookin for me, we were ambushed…'' he explained tearfully. Esther listened, she understood the feeling. “Exactly, ambushed.” She reaffirmed, “Listen we’re both plum wore out. Why don’t you get some sleep and we can sort this out in the morning?” “But what about-” “Dont worry I’ll watch over him.” Esther interjected. The boy nodded, still unconvinced but to tired to protest. Curling up on the couch the young man quickly nodded off. Esther withdrew a soft cotton blanket from her bag, placing it over the sleeping halfblood. “One more thing…” she mumbled. Squatting down to the broom basket, the witch gingerly scooped up the sleeping Bella, before placing her at Timmy’s side. The sleepy pup looked up at her mom, glassy black eyes protesting the move. “I’m sorry baby.” She whispered, “but he needs you right now.” The little fluff ball gave a begrudging huff before settling down at the boys side. Although neither Esther nor Timmy took notice of it, a small smile crossed the boy's face as he snuggled just a bit closer to Bella.

47 Sledge-Hammers
Scores:
Post Time For Armando WOD and Time For Bernard WOD.
HOWEVER, Chicken-Legged Larry gave me some heart-felt suggestions regarding the posting of scores, and since I am always and forever in tune with the old "2 heads are better than 1" (except in marriage), I realized that posting scores as one combined number was a superior method. Even better would have been scoring the elapsed time from start to finish including the 10 minute rest. But since we didn't post that way, I did all the math, combining everyone's scores and collating them as (thanklessly) always.
Shane=25:34** Bernard=25:41** Larry=26:03** Armando=26:20** Ed=27:58** Elisa/Kayla/Alicia=28:06 Robert=28:30** LSU=28 "something" Nathan=29:30* Rodney=29:31 Jon=29:33 Warren A=29:38 Joe=30 "something" Mitch=30:56 Dyer=32:09* Tim=32:30* Cherrita=33:45 Coach=35:54 Tom=35:56 WG=38:16 Faith (The Kid)=39:39 Shannon/Michelle=41:00 Sandy=42:00 Average Dave="Personal Records" Many failed to post scores. Like the lovely Ruth Anne.
Notes:
Considering these two Birthday WODs were designed by unprofessional programmers while under the influence of copious alcohol, our gang performed them with enthusiasm and negligible glomming.
Jon was sponsored by Rodney and is a Pediatrician known professionally by many of us. FYI, Robert has a jealous and monetarily competitive disliking for all Medical Doctors. Billed as a mono-structural athlete (runner), Jon seemed to do well under Rodney's tutelage and left with a fine BSN T-shirt. Michelle is Shannon's Sister and today was her first visit to the Barn. I think Michelle was intimidated and did not want to work out with us, stating her inclination to just go for a run in the park. With some arm-twisting and locking the Arboretum gate, I got her to work out with Sister Shannon. And it was a beautiful thing to watch. I'm sure they made fond memories today. She left with a T-shirt also.
Usually Kayla brews us iced coffee on Saturday mornings. Timmy even brought extra ice. Alas, Kayla didn't bring the coffee fixings today, mumbling the excuse that she "didn't come here from home". She left in a hot-rush immediately after the WOD like maybe she left something boiling over a hot fire, or maybe left the shower running.
Miss Linda returns from visiting our North Carolina Kids today, and she is going to be crabbier than usual when she sees all her pre-cooked meals that she left for me untouched in the fridge. She will know that several of my favorite Barn Girls fed me with their own home-cookin'. Usually the resident dog would have profited from this situation, but Miss Esther took Ginger The Pup home with her for the last few days.
This commercial showing Domino Pizza delivery persons flying thru the air delivering hot Pizza's without benefit of parachutes or drones is going to result in an outbreak of youngsters who identify as birds getting killed jumping from planes or other high places. Kayla brought a SoCal girl-friend to the Barn last week who I believe thinks she is a bird. Sammy D wasn't here that day, else they woulda bonded like Gorilla Glue.
Sunday at 0730 and 1 PM. I hope Kayla can make it.

🌳 Anna, 🧳Glass and 🐾 Abigail :3 💙
Anna’s an only child and has no cousins(lots of second-cousins though), so she got a lot of attention as a youngster, lol! Mom was a school teacher so she knew how to reign in all of kid-Anna’s energy. Dad is a graphic designer co-running a business with his older brother, Junior, specializing in store logos and signage and works from home most days.
She is very close with all her grandparents, but probably takes after Len the most. He was the only one I’d designed before just now so maybe thats why i think their resemblance is closest. Len and Lian were an extremely inventive couple, and worked on everything together back in the day(more on that sometime in the comic lol). Its just Len now, but he still makes gadgets and things for his granddaughter (he built the Airstrike helmet)
Esther and Ron retired some time ago and moved out to Arizona where they take swimclasses, hold barbecues and champion a local bowling team! They’re the party-grandparents and Anna wants to be just like her granny when she’s old.
Charlie Glass has been to quite a few countries. As a kid, he traveled with his school and his family to different places in Canada and the US. I dont think anyone is surprised that he enjoyed visiting the big museums in different cities.
In college he did some sight-seeing in mexico with a few close friends, including Rika, and would later do some study abroad in italy and france for his masters.
He doesnt leave the Beacon City area very often now but before he was The Hourglass, Charlie may have been involved in some yet-unsolved thefts in England and Spain when he was running with a group of high-profile heisters.
Abigail doesnt have any pets currently, she’d feel bad cause she’s too busy. But she did have one of those BIG rabbits when she was in highschool.

@attonitos-gloria omg I answered your Bible women ask and then went to edit a typo and deleted it why am I like this 😭😭😭 this week took my brain cells and ate them
I have no idea if you can see it after it’s been deleted but I will repost because Im procrastinating on things and I’m sure you’re riveted by my thoughts 🤣
But my picks were:
1. The Virgin Mary: I adore Mary truly and I think she’s the beating human heart of Christianity. She endures so much grief and joy and heartbreak. And I love my identity as an Anglican but I do wish there were more prevalent Marian cults. I feel similarly about Elizabeth.
2. Mary Magdalene: I love this Mary for Reasons, obviously. But I genuinely think she’s a figure that represents the expansiveness of what it means to be made in God’s image.
3. Esther: I have nothing deep to add here, I just love her.
4. Ruth—a cliche choice maybe but it’s beloved for a reason!!!
5. I was going to choose Rahab but I am going to choose Deborah because, yes, she’s amazing but also because my dad—raised by atheists and converted basically for my mom so basically no idea what is appropriate for a religious setting but also eager to please lol—was once recruited to teach in our Very Serious Sunday School decided the best way to engage a bunch of 9 yr olds in the glory of God was to put on a play of the story of Deborah, which I’m sure you’re quite familiar with lol. His genuinely earnest take was to put an emphasis on That Scene in the Tent. Like he literally was not trying to be offensive, he genuinely thought this would be a good idea.
And the results were a fifteen-minute horror show that included a full-size cardboard chariot and battle sequence, a ten minute scene focused on the hammer and nail, and a finale song written by five nine year olds about Deborah but really about nailing an enemy’s head to the ground.
And all of us youngsters finished the play like:
And my dad was like
And the rest of the congregation was like
But anyway, I was Deborah and I always had a special fondness for her after that. And also, my dad never taught Sunday School again.

this is a weird infodumping thing but i wanted to talk about the spanish version of wotww and what got changed in it!! :DDD please note parts of this contain spoilers to the game :) im gonna make this my pinned post so if u wanna skip it block the tag "windy screams about spanish nnk"
firstly, ding ding dell is called villa cascabel, which means town of jingle bells, which i thought was really cool :DDD when i sent it to my spanish gc they all said it reminded them of Christmas ajajaja
al-mamoon is called al-mugid! mugid translates to moo, which makes sense since the cowlipha is the ruler!! it made me realize al-maMOOn is a pun LMFAOOO,, also, the cowlipha is called vacalifa lola :D
castaway cove's name is bikini port, which i thought was. weird DBDJWIWKSKKS,,
the fairyground is changed to verbena, which means fair!!! also, the little text under the name of the town when you first come in calls it a barbaric party which makes me laugh!! i think it's very cute!! speaking of the fairyground, the fairy godmother is renamed mamá montaña, which means mountain mom!! i love that name for her sm DNDJSJSKSK
they use accents for the characters in the subtitles which was weird? like i sent a screenshot to my friend who is fluent in spanish of something drippy said and she said it had an accent? which is most likely due to his welsh accent, but she couldn't even understand it fully!!! also pea has a really child-like accent in the subtitles - words are misspelled and she messes up her words a lot (for example, she calls oliver olived, si is spelled ci, and es is spelled ez)
speaking of pea, they also changed the names of some characters!! cassiopeia was renamed cassandra and pea was renamed sandra, for some reason? it makes me feel weird because it sounds like the name of an old lady, and pea is so young 😭 also, esther is renamed estela (which means star), Swaine is called Jairo (which is also his name in Japanese, I believe? I'm too lazy to look it up DNDJJDDK) and all the other main characters kept their real names :PP
ALSO!!! drippy is no longer a fairy, he is now a goblin in the spanish version!! i was. very freaked out at this and mad >:(( they really do be slandering drippy.. also, his title of lord high lord of the fairies is translated to the grandmaster of the goblins >:)
also, instead of calling Oliver a crybaby bunting, he calls oliver llorica, which can be crybaby or weepy depending on the context, or pipiolo, which means youngster, but the pipi at the beginning resembles the sound of a chick according to one of my spanish friends, which is probably also calling him a baby DNSNSJMS
also, instead of jeepers, oliver will say caracoles, which means snails!! i thought that was really cute SBHSJS
mornstar is called Estrella de Alba, which directly translates to "the morning star", and evanstar is Estrella de Ocaso, which means "the sunset star"!! it's very basic, but I thought its cool :D
uhhhhh,,,, yeah i think that's it LSLSMSKSKKS
if you guys are wondering what the names of anything specific was changed to please tell me!! i didn't watch the whole video just some clips of it, i am definitely not fluent in spanish, and i may be forgetting some stuff DBDJSJSK
#long post#i would add a read more but idk how :'(( lo siento#infodumping#ni no kuni#ni no kuni wrath of the white witch#ni no kuni spoilers#nnk wotww#nnk#nnk wotww spoilers#windy screams about spanish nnk

MYRNA LOY
August 2, 1905
Myrna Loy was born Myrna Adele Williams in Radersburg (near Helena), Montana. When she was thirteen, Myrna's father died of influenza in the great flu pandemic of 1918, and the rest of the family moved to Los Angeles. She was educated in L.A. and the Westlake School for Girls where she caught the acting bug. She started at the age of 15 when she appeared in local stage productions in order to help support her family. Her first film was a small part in the production of What Price Beauty? (1925). Later, she appeared in Pretty Ladies (1925) along with Joan Crawford. She was one of the few stars that would start in the silent movies and make a successful transition into the sound era.
Moving to MGM she got two meaty roles: One was in the The Prizefighter and the Lady (1933), and the other as Nora Charles in The Thin Man (1934) with William Powell. Myrna would appear in five more in the series.
In 1946, she was seen in The Best Years of Our Lives, which went on to win 7 competitive Oscars, including Best Picture. Loy won Best Actress at the Brussels World Film Festival. “I Love Lucy” favorite Tennessee Ernie Ford appears in an uncredited role. “Lucy” extras who appeared include Harry Cheshire, James Conaty, Lawrence Dobkin, Harold Miller, and Bert Stevens.
NAME GAMES!
When her father was travelling by train in early 1905, he went through a small station called 'Myrna' - he eventually named her after that station. Changing last name from Williams to Loy was suggested by legendary pulp writer Paul Cain (aka Peter Ruric). Lucille Ball also flirted with a stage name, going by Diane Belmont for several years.
FATHER FIGURES!
Lucille Ball initially claimed to have been born in Montana, while Loy actually was! Both Loy and Ball’s fathers died of illness while they were young girls. Ball’s father succumbed to Typhoid in 1914, while Loy’s was a victim of the Flu pandemic of 1918. Like Lucy, once successful, Loy returned to her hometown, Radersburg, Montana (above), posing in front of her parents’ home.
LOY & LUCILLE!
The only time Loy and Ball appeared in the same film was in Broadway Bill (1934), a Frank Capra film for Columbia. Broadway Bill was filmed between June 18 and August 16, 1934 at Columbia Studios in Hollywood, and on location at Tanforan Race Track in San Bruno, California. Lucille Ball was 23 years old at the time and was a blonde!
Lucille Ball played a telephone operator, uncredited. Also in the film were future “I Love Lucy” cast members Charles Lane, Irving Bacon, and Bess Flowers.
GINGER SNAPS!
Lucy wasn’t the only star in Hollywood to be a redhead. Myrna Loy managed to show off her red tresses in the 1929 Warner Brothers musical, The Show of Shows, which contained Technicolor sequences, one of which still survives.
HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY!
Loy was a big box-office draw. In 1936, she was named Queen of the Movies and Clark Gable the king in a nationwide poll of movie goers. Her popularity was at its zenith. Lucille Ball, at the zenith of her television success, was dubbed the Queen of Comedy.
GIVING A DAMN!
Both Loy and Ball (among many others) were considered for the role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939).
SMOKE SCREEN!
In 1938, Loy signed on to do print ads for Lucky Strike cigarettes. 15 years later, it was Lucy who was hawking tobacco, for Philip Morris, who also sponsored “I Love Lucy.” The competition for smokers loyalty was so fierce that the word “lucky” was banned from “I Love Lucy” scripts, causing the ‘Lucky Buck’ competition to be re-named the ‘Bonus Buck’ contest!
GOING WITH THE FLO!
Loy appeared in the film The Great Ziegfeld (1938), which won an Oscar, while Ball was featured in Ziegfeld Follies (1946). Loy, who received second billing for this film, does not actually appear on screen until 2 hours and 15 minutes into the movie. Coincidentally, Loy’s Thin Man co-star William Powell plays Ziegfeld in both films! This was the fourth of 14 films pairing William Powell and Myrna Loy. In real life, Lucille Ball was actually fired by Ziegfeld from his touring production of Rio Rita in the early 1930s.
ARE YOU NOW OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN?
Myrna Loy, Fredric March and Lucille Ball took a stand against being accused of Communism when two radio broadcasts called “Hollywood Fights Back” protested the HUAC hearings in October and November 1947.
LADY / WED!
The 1936 film Libeled Lady starring Myrna Loy and Spencer Tracey was remade ten years later as Easy To Wed (1946) starring Lucille Ball and Van Johnson. In the remake, Ball did not play the character originated by Loy, which was taken by Esther Williams. Lucy played the role originated by Jean Harlowe.
MGM MURMURS!
A New York Times item mentioned a collaboration between Lucille Ball, Myrna Loy and Clark Gable in 1944. The film never came to pass. Gable’s first film after his military service was MGM’s Adventure (1945) with Greer Garson and Joan Blondell. Ball did Without Love (1945), also for MGM.
ANGEL / FOREVER!
Forever Darling was originally entitled Guardian Angel and had been written as a vehicle for Myrna Loy and William Powell. The script had been languishing unfilmed at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for several years. It was finally picked up and polished for Lucy and Desi.
MOTHER(S) OF THE YEAR(S)!
Myrna Loy played the mother of 12 kids in Cheaper By The Dozen (1950). In 1968, Lucille Ball made a similar film titled Yours, Mine and Ours with Ball the mom of 18! The two films have many common scenes:
The kids line up for their week's ration of clean sheets and toothpaste;
The older daughters have troubles with unbashful beaus;
The youngsters get in pillow fights;
There is a suspected case of the flu;
Jealousies grow between the two sets of children;
There are four small visitors (all under 5 years of age) who invite themselves to their parents' wedding night and crawl under the covers.
BROADWAY AMBITION!
Loy had ambitions to act on Broadway, and finally made her one and only appearance in a 1973 production of The Women. Lucille Ball also had Broadway aspirations. She finally made her one and only appearance in late 1960 in Wildcat. Both women had done regional stage productions that for one reason or another failed to transfer to Broadway.
GREASE IS THE WORD!
In the opening shots of the 1978 film Grease, there's a white statue of a girl outside Rydell High – filmed at Venice High School, California, where Myrna Loy was a student. She posed for it when she was 16! Lucie Arnaz was the studio’s original choice for promiscuous Betty Rizzo (a role that went to Stockard Channing), but Lucy refused to let her do a screen test! The film featured Ball’s friend and Desilu star Eve Arden (”Our Miss Brooks”) as the principal. The film takes place in 1959/1960, when “I Love Lucy” was wrapping up its history-making run on television.
BIOGRAPHY!
Loy wrote an autobiography, Myrna Loy: Being and Becoming, published in 1987. Lucille Ball’s autobiography Love, Lucille, was published posthumously in 1996.
HONORS!
Both Lucille Ball and Myrna Loy were honored at “The Kennedy Center Honors”; Lucy in 1986 and Loy in 1988.
LAST LOOKS!
In 1991, Loy was given an Honorary Oscar In recognition of her extraordinary qualities both on screen and off, with appreciation for a lifetime's worth of indelible performances. Loy was not present at the awards ceremony. She gave her acceptance speech live via satellite from her Manhattan apartment. This was her last appearance on TV. Similarly, Lucille Ball’s appearance as a presenter at the March 29, 1989 Oscar telecast was her last appearance on TV before her death on April 26, 1989.
By the time Myrna Loy passed away, on December 14, 1993, at the age of 88, she had appeared in 129 motion pictures.

“At first glance Esther Okade seems like a normal 10-year-old. She loves dressing up as Elsa from "Frozen," playing with Barbie dolls and going to the park or shopping.
But what makes the British-Nigerian youngster stand out is the fact that she's also a university undergraduate.Esther, from Walsall, an industrial town in the UK's West Midlands region, is one of the country's youngest college freshmen.
The talented 10-year-old enrolled at the Open University, a UK-based distance learning college, in January and is already top of the class, having recently scored 100% in a recent exam."It's so interesting. It has the type of maths I love. It's real maths -- theories, complex numbers, all that type of stuff," she giggles. "It was super easy. My mum taught me in a nice way."
She adds: "I want to (finish the course) in two years. Then I'm going to do my PhD in financial maths when I'm 13. I want to have my own bank by the time I'm 15 because I like numbers and I like people and banking is a great way to help people."

They Shot Me Down...
Rounding up a week in Hollyoaks (16th-20th December 2019)
It’s looking set to be a lonely Christmas for Mercedes McQueen as she managed to alienate her entire family this week. As this week’s action kicked off, Mercedes agreed to take Bobby to visit Sylver, hoping to show the youngster his true colours. However, her plan backfired when she began questioning her feelings towards her husband. Later that night, Mercedes received a phone call from Sylver, in which he declared his love for her. This was all it took for Mercedes to head to the police station to confess that she’d been mistaken, and Sylver hadn’t shot her. Mercedes was full of confidence as she received the news that Sylver was about to be released and enjoyed lording it over Grace. However, Mercedes was in for a shock when Sylver turned up and told her that he had no intention of getting back with her. Instead, he took Bobby and moved in with Grace...
With Bobby refusing to talk to her, Mercedes was only left with Breda for company but she too eventually packed her bags when she discovered that Mercedes had lied about Sylver shooting her. As Mercedes was left alone in time for Christmas, the real shooter (or should that be plural?) was revealed. Over the Donovan’s, Liam overheard Grace and James talking and realised that, together, they’d pulled the trigger on Mercedes. Liam suddenly forgot about all the bad things he’d done in his life and took the moral high ground, insisting that Grace and James tell Mercedes what they’d done, or he would. Confused over his feelings for his ex, Liam went to see Mercedes, and asked her if she’d ever really loved him. Mercedes confirmed that she had, but before Liam had a chance to respond, he was interrupted by James, who insisted that he would have to chose between him and Mercedes.
Liam decided it was James he wanted to be with, and we were treated to lovely scenes of James in a rather fetching pink dressing gown after the pair spent the night together. Back at The Dog, Mercedes was wallowing in self pity, despite Goldie’s best efforts to get her out of her pit. Breda, meanwhile, was struggling with the fact that she’d believed that Sylver had shot Mercedes, and desperately tried to get back in her Son’s good books. She ended the week by plotting to pin all of her murders on Mercy as revenge for turning her against Sylver...
Meanwhile, Walter, Martine and Lisa surprised Mitchell with a family day out, and insisted that he invited his new ‘girlfriend’, Sabrina, along too. Later, an excited Martine told Scott how much she was looking forward to meeting Mitchell’s new partner, and Scott was hurt when he realised that Mitchell still hadn’t told his family about him. Deciding to show Scott how much he meant to him, Mitchell took him on a festive day out to the Christmas markets, where they pair enjoyed acting like a proper couple. That was, until they bumped into Azim, at which point, Scott was straight back in the friend zone. Once again, Scott was left hurt, telling Mitchell that he needed to be honest about their relationship. Deciding that Scott was right, Mitchell decided to come out to his family, but his plan to tell Martine first went pear shaped when Walter insisted on joining them for breakfast. Scott was annoyed to hear that Mitchell still hadn’t told his family and ended the relationship, telling him he couldn’t be with someone who was ashamed of him.
Elsewhere, Diane and Edward ended up kissing again whilst Leela offered to take Sid in when Romeo and Juliet discovered he was sleeping rough. Maxine was touched when Walter invited her to his Christmas sermon and finally, Liberty discovered that she was pregnant...

About my works:
I am fascinated by the human body, especially when the body is not perfect but affected by disease or old age. Discarded from narrative meanings, I am interested in the beauty of the seemingly unnatural colors and the whimsical shapes. By drawing the contrast between an affected body and a healthy body, my view on the meaning of disease, life and death is more open, more precise and broader. The fact that a work on such an unpleasant and in a way inaccessable subject can be really beautiful, causes a tension between the work and the viewer. A tension between attracting and pushing off. This is the thing that fascinates and also affects me. This is exactly the thing I am researching in my work; how can I, as a human, deal with the negative, morbide side of life? With illness, misfortune and death? And since I don't believe in a black- and white view on a life - meaning that there would be a bright side and a black side, either good or bad people - how does this interaction between the positive and the negative work? For when I can see beauty in a wound or uglyness in a perfect face, then aren't both sides always present?

Onderzoek Alisa Osinga | Werkplaatsmeester Keramiek

Tentoonstelling: AAAAaargh!!! Alisa Osinga
Gevangen of vrij? In welke situatie is dit dier in vredesnaam in beland? Is dat zijn hart daar tussen zijn benen? Groeit die mooie bloemenzee nu uit zijn rug??? AAAAaaargh!!!
https://alisaosinga.weebly.com

AAARGH!

How We Came to Send Flowers, Cards, and Chocolates on Valentine's Day
Each February 14, couples send flowers, purchase chocolate and break out their sentimental sides. Hardly any individuals, in any case, know how we came to observe Valentine's Day. They may even accept the occasion was created by the flower and welcome card industry. Truth be told, a background marked by Valentine's Day through the years relates numerous puzzles, sentimental figures, and savvy business visionaries.
One legend proposes Valentine was a minister in the third century in Rome when Emperor Claudius II banned marriage for youngsters since he thought single men improved soldiers than men with spouses and families. Valentine covertly kept on performing relationships and when his activities were found, Claudius condemned him to death. He endured affliction on the fourteenth day of February, about the year 270.
Another story has it that while in jail, Valentine began to look all starry eyed at a little youngster who visited him during his imprisonment and who may have been his jailor's girl. The future holy person relieved the young lady of her visual impairment and before his passing, he supposedly composed his affection a letter, marking it 'From your Valentine,' an articulation still common today.
We may owe our recognition of Valentine's Day to the Roman festival of Lupercalia, a celebration that respected Juno Februata, the goddess of "hot" love. Every year, on February fifteenth, youngsters and ladies would attract names to collaborate with for sentimental game playing. Early Christians disapproved of these prurient exercises and attempted to change the sexual idea of Lupercalia by turning the "banquet of the substance" into a "custom for sentiment." The Church chosen a solitary holy person, St. Valentine, to speak to the new celebration. Since Valentine was martyred on February 14, the date was additionally changed. At the point when the names were presently drawn on this day, couples started to trade little blessings.
One of the most punctual known "valentine" cards goes back to 1415. From his imprisonment in the Tower of London after the Battle of Agincourt, a youthful Frenchman, Charles, Duke of Orleans, sent a few ballads or rhymed love letters to his significant other in France. One valentine card demonstrated a drawing of a knight and a woman, with Cupid in the demonstration of sending a bolt to pierce the knight's heart.
The occasion that praises lovebirds has not generally been so prominent, going all through support throughout the hundreds of years. The festival experienced restored energy in England only before 1800 when distributing organizations went to the guide of tongue-tied romeos by dispersing booklets of sections that darlings could recount to one another. Blessing giving included cards that were normally hand painted and regularly richly beautified with bands, silk or glossy silk, flowers (produced using the quills of tropical fowls), and perfumed sachets.
The first U.S. made valentines were formed by a Mount Holyoke College understudy, Esther Howland around 1830. Her dad imported valentines consistently from England as a stationer in Worcester, MA. Esther chose to make her very own valentine messages and started bringing in ribbon, fine papers, and different supplies for her cards. Her "Worcester" valentines sold an expected hundred thousand dollars yearly!
Until the mid-1800's, the expense to send a Valentine through the mail was past the methods for the normal individual. The postal service even requested installment from the beneficiary, not the sender, of the letter! A hand delivered Valentine turned into the most well known approach to proclaim love during this time.
The occasion endured a prominence dive in the late nineteenth century, yet by the twentieth century, Americans organizations had safeguarded Valentine's Day by transforming it into a business bonanza. It ended up common for a valentine to for the most part go with a progressively intricate endowment of sweets, flowers, supper, and so forth. These days, numerous schools even empower understudies to send flowers to one another to commend the day. Valentine's Day cards have developed to turn into the second greatest dealers to Christmas cards. As of late, the web has demonstrated progressively mainstream to praise the day also. Presently you can send an elecronic welcome card, send chocolate, and send flowers all without going out.
