I think one of the reasons why I like the Rosegarden pairing (besides it being cute), is that the Rosegarden shippers are overall nice! No Rosegarden shipper that I've seen hate on the other RWBY ships. (And as a side note: people complain about the age range, but where were these complaints for Whiterose, Ladybug, Pollination, Rosewick, Nuts and Dolts, and Enabler? I understand the Ozpin issue, but I feel that if Ozpin weren't a factor, people would still complain...)
Right! Boyyyyyy does this squiggle meister have something to say about that. Y’know what’sfunny m’dear anon-ninja.At this point, speaking as a Rosegardener, I feel it’s high time my fellowRosegardeners should rightfully start ignoring the hate towards our reveredship. You are absolutely right in the point that the RG community is a coolone. Every Rosegardener that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, greeting, talking to, theorizing with, fangirling with and befriending have all beenwonderful, awesometastic and uberly talented people who are always respectfulto other ships. At this point, based on my observation, it doesn’t matter whateither we as a shipping community do or even the CRWBY do, if people want tohate on something, they will find any and every reason to complain just for thesake of hearing themselves talk and finding those one or two folks who wouldagree with them.
It still stuns me today that Anti-Rosegardeners arestill complaining about the 2 year age difference betweenRuby and Oscar. Areyou kidding me with this? PersonallyI think it’s is such a silly argumentthat has been beaten into the ground too much that I’m surprised it’s not buriedas yet. And what’s sad is that it really is just that---a mighty silly argumentfor the mere hypocrisy in it. I’m sorry but I’m going to be very blunt when Isay this. I find it downright ridiculous that people are complaining about a teenyweeny 2 year difference between Ruby and Oscar when ships like Whiterose,Lancaster, Ladybug and Nuts and Dolts all exist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you’re telling me that RoseGarden is a problemfor the age difference then what makes the other ships where Ruby is theyounger within the pairing at the same age gap acceptable? Are you saying that theage difference is only an issue if Ruby is with Oscar but is perfectly finewhen it’s Weiss, Jaune, Blake---literally anyone else who isn’t Oscar?
Because y’know, Oscar is a baby nugget at 14 soshipping him with Ruby would be immoral…even though when Ruby was 15, that didn’tstop people from shipping her with everyone else under the moon who were allolder than her. Do I also have to remind people that Rosewick existsalong with Enabler? But y’know, those are perfectly acceptable. People are shipping Ruby with aman---a grown ass man and her own sister and that’s fine. But shipping her witha precious freckled farm boy who is the closest in age to her than anyone iswrong.
Tumblr media
You see why this complaint is nonsense, right?
I don’t even see the whole factor of Ozpin aproblem anymore since the show made it very clear in this recent season thateven though Ozma was paired with the other souls; he never interfered in theirpersonal relationships. On the contrary, as Jinn pointed out, Ozma learned theimportance of living with the souls he was paired with. We have an example of aWizard who had a wife and a family and Ozma and his fellow Wizard seemed quitecontent with their arrangement. Ozma never interfered with his hosts livesafter first reincarnation.
So even if Oscar and Ruby were to start a romance,Ozpin would not interfere. So at this moment, neither of the two main argumentsagainst RoseGarden hold any relevance anymore since they’ve both been debunkedby the series and its creators. Miles Luna, Writer of RWBY, said the agedifference isn’t a problem and the show itself said that Ozpin isn’t a problem either. Then there is the obvious factor that the show seems to be setting up somethingbetween our titular Rosebuds. Ruby and Oscar seemed to be destined to becomecloser as the story progresses. Does that mean a romance is on the horizon? Whoknows? But something is to come between them whether people like it or not.
If I could speak to my fellow Rosegardeners, Iwould tell them---guys, I think it’s time we just leave the haters to theirhate because as you can see, there is no reasoning with them. Not really. Ihave grown weary of seeing my fellow Rosegardeners justify again and again howthe age difference isn’t a problem. Same for the Ozpin thing.
I myself am tired of repeating the same points.Leave the haters alone. Let them talk their talk. There is an old Trinbagoniansaying that my mother used to say a lot when she would hear people complain onand on about the same stuff---‘Let the jackass bray!’
And before anyone jumps on my case, I am NOT calling the Anti-Rosegardeners donkeys. I’m just usingthis saying to prove a point. Sometimes you just have to let people speak theirmind. If they don’t like something, it’s their choice on how vocal they wish tobe about it just as how it’s our choice on whether or not we wish to listen toit or take it on.
If the Anti-Rosegardeners want to keep repeatingthe same old arguments over and over again, let them. Leave them to their talk. We don’thave to listen to them and we don’t have to answer them. If they have theenergy to complain, let us use ours to spread nothing but love and appreciationfor the ship we love. Counter the negativity with positivity. We don’t have tofight the haters but we don’t have to take them on either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thatbeing said, I just waiting for the future episode where the CRWBY makes a meta joke about the minor age difference between Ruby andOscar because I feel like that one is in the cards for a future season. Icalling it now. Remember I said it first when it comes. They already debunked thewhole “Ozpin” argument in V6 C3 so the agegap is next.

#NYFW sisSTAR NYFW 2019 Feature: Sanian Lewis, Creator of Sanianitos
Meet our sisSTAR NYFW 2019 feature, Sanian Lewis, whose beautiful jewelry collection is deeply connected to her Trinbagonian roots.  Check out our Q & A with Sanian and shop her wonderful works at various stores in NYC, London, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Introduce yourself and your brand
My name is Sanian Lewis, I’m the Style Director of Sanianitos Fashion and Lifestyle Ltd. Sanianitos is a lifestyle brand (currently focused on accessories) that was conceptualized to reflect the essence of the Caribbean, through the Trinbagonian aesthetic. So our pieces are bold, unique and unforgettable, much like those who choose our selections.
Tell us about your current collection and what inspired it?
Our current collection is a re-introduction into the world of metal work, we’ve focused on our hand painted and embellished sunglasses, hand sewn embroidered earrings and brooches, even customized and ornate flowered crowns for the past 4 years and so it is a very exciting time for us to get back to the origins of the brand, which began with wired jewelry centered on enhancing the divine aspects of the wearer.
How do you overcome creative and business obstacles?
One step at a time, with the guidance of our Chairman, trusting the process, and with a group of entrepreneurial women I’ve come to identify as my soul sisters. There’s a lot of trust in the higher forces that are at play as I’ve come to realize that an obstacle is simply an indication of one stepping into a new level of evolution, thus when obstacles arise I’ve found myself able to navigate through, though with some obstacles the navigation has to be conscious and intentional.
What motto do you live by?
Ever since I was younger my father had my brother and I repeat like a mantra, everyday in every way, I’m getting better and better...I’ve kept that as a mantra throughout my life. More recently and particularly this year it’s been: Go with the flow.
Where do you see your brand in the next 1-5 years?
In the next 5 years I see the brand expanding to include customizable elements to our sunglasses selections with in-house frame selections, patterned templates and even embellishments. As well as getting into the full range of accessories, specifically bags, hats and hopefully a collaboration for footwear. Within the next 4 years I would like to see the brand we work with in New York (Jolie & Jade) have stores in at least 2/3 locations throughout the states/internationally, with our items available in all and a couple of capsule collection specialty items featured in a gallery (or two) in NY, London or Africa. Within the next 3 years I would like to see Sanianitos established throughout the Caribbean and NY as a go-to for statement accessories, a diffusion line of ‘mass’ versions of our signature pieces and the launch of a clothing aspect of the brand. Within the next 2 years we see the brand refining and defining its team, and its aspects, as well as establishing itself as the official accessories house of Lost Tribe Carnival Band in Trinbago. We see a studio space based in Trinbago and a capsule collection of rings featured in a couple galleries in Trinbago. And within the next year we will be seeing the brand set the tone for all of these intentions. Stay tuned!
Where can people purchase and support your brand?
Currently you can find our pieces in NY and online at Jolie & Jade (@jolieandjade), in Trinidad at 6 Carlos Woodbrook, Meiling’s Atelier (@meilinginc) and in London at ACE Hackney (a.c.ehackney). You can find us at @sanianitos on Instagram, our most active form of social media. Our website is going to be up and running in time for 2020 and items will be available at sanianitos.com

Made in Trinidad & Tobago✨🇹🇹 Ọja bags feature a unique print on the front and our signature “made in..” print at the back. For us, made in Trinbago is more than just being 100% made here… It’s a celebration, an intent…a movement… It’s a stamp of sovereign that’s a mark of pride or a conversation starter… It’s the root…the wholly source (sauce)… For without it, would I even be here? Would I be me? Fully? When I was younger I wanted to be an ambassador for my country. As a ‘smallie’, I interpreted that as having something (other than my passport) that identified where I was from, that I could take with me outside of my country, where non-Trinbagonians would see and know. And here we are 20sum years later, doing just that❤️🔥🤍🖤 ✨Your favourite everything bags are returning to @b3wine.spirits and popping up at a new stockist in September 🫶🏾✨ #madewithlightandlove #caribbeanmagic #conceptualise #construct #create #sanianitos https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch43Dsduzkp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Project Management Part 1
The course Advanced Project (AP) entails using practice based research to produce new knowledge as well as a media output that represents this.
From my prior experience in projects, I decided that for this class I preferred to work with a partner, rather than by myself. Reasons for this were:
 The financial burden is split
A wider social network to help with conducting research
Having someone to bounce ideas off and
Each person has a different strengths they bring to the table that create a better overall product.
The person I chose as my partner is Chinelle Alsuran. Chinelle and I had previously worked together multiple times and already had a good rapport. Her strengths are writing, having a great television personality, networking and possessing a good attention to detail.
After deciding to work together it was agreed that we would each propose different ideas and determine which one was appealed to us the both most and was the most feasible.
The next step was considering different types of media and which ones I am most familiar with to determine what type of medium or media my project could be.
Due to my prior experience in school (BTEC Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production) and work (a video editor at TV Jaagriti), my main choices of media were:
Print
Video
Photography
Then I considered which topics interested me and how I could formulate a research question from them. Ideas I considered were:
Caribbean Folklore
Possible Research Questions:
Investigate if Local folklore is disappearing from the 'common knowledge' of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.
Is Local folklore still relevant to the people of Trinidad and Tobago?
Is Local folklore still being told to the children of Trinidad and Tobago?
Possible Research Methods:
Surveys - Questions ascertaining how knowledgeable people are about Local Folklore
Content Analysis - How many Children's books sold in local bookstore have folklore? Any school textbooks?
Creative Outputs:
A book of local folklore characters.
A CD with pictures and audio stories
Inspiration:
We began contemplating project ideas around Halloween time, and I was reminiscing of the horror stories I was told as a young child. Whenever the power would cut at home or whenever we went to the beach for a long weekend, we would have to entertain ourselves without television and my cousins and I would gather around our elders (grandparents, uncles and aunties) and they would tell us stories about the soucouyant, douens and other local folk characters. These were the ‘monsters’ of my childhood. Now whenever my nieces or nephews talk about horror stories they speak of slenderman, zombies or some American horror movie they saw. With the internet at the tip of our fingers in our mobile phones or computers, the opportunities for the younger generation to have moments of being ‘disconnected’ from the wider world and interacting with their elders without modern distractions are fewer. Are these stories still being told?
Pollution in Trinidad and Tobago
Possible Research Questions:
Investigation into the lack of coverage on pollution in the media.
Beaches of Trinidad & Tobago.
Possible Research Methods:
Surveys – Questioning people on how beaches are portrayed vs how they are in real life due to pollution
Creative Output:
Photo essay/PSA's on conserving the beauty of our Beaches.
Inspiration:
I had just gone on a hike of Gasparee Caves and Monos Island and when we arrived at the beach on Monos Island, it was filthy. This wasn’t a high traffic beach like Maracas, but the place was filled with garbage from a party the night before that no one had bothered to clean up. They didn’t even have garbage bins available at the beach. Why is it that littering on the beaches something that is just accepted in this country? Our country is beautiful and has so much to offer and yet no one seems to be taking pride in it.
Local Memes
Possible Research Question:
How receptive are Trinbagonians to local memes?
Possible Research Method:
Surveys - Which memes are most recognised and why? International vs Local memes
Focus groups- Create memes and see which ones people are most receptive to.
Creative Output:
Merchandise of local memes/phrases - t-shirts, cups, hats
Online Accounts to post created memes- Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest
Inspiration:
There are many local slang, sayings, idioms and customs that are uniquely Trinbagonian. Things like ‘Crapo Smoke yuh pipe’ or when someone is suffering from Tabanca. It would be a great opportunity to capitalise on these and see whether there is a market for using these on merchandise and if they could create local memes so that these sayings don’t get lost as more people begin to use american sayings and phrases that are continuously bombarding us on television and online.
After consideration I decided to concentrate on the Folklore topic as I believed the product would have a wider appeal and it is topic that would be able to facilitate TWO research questions (one for myself and one for Chinelle). This topic as well as Chinelle’s was then presented to the lecturer for feedback.
