The salty breeze carried the scent of the sea as you sailed back to your coastal home, the ship cutting through the waves with a rhythmic dance. Weeks away had been spent gathering supplies for the impending winter, and anticipation filled your chest like the billowing sails above. The distant sight of your humble abode on the shoreline brought a surge of warmth to your heart, eager to reunite with your family after the long and arduous journey.
However, the moment you stepped over the threshold of your home, the air grew heavy with an unspoken darkness. What should have been a joyous homecoming transformed into a nightmare as your eyes fell upon the gruesome scene before you. The familiar rooms, once filled with the laughter and love of your family, were now stained with tragedy. Your entire family lay slaughtered, lifeless bodies scattered like discarded memories—a devastating tableau that crushed your heart with a grief beyond words.
"Mother? Father?" you called out, your voice trembling with a mixture of disbelief and anguish. The silence that greeted you in response was haunting, each step through the home echoing with the weight of loss. Sobbing, you navigated through the rooms, discovering each lifeless form with a growing sense of horror. The vibrant tapestry of your family had been torn apart, leaving behind a desolate canvas of despair.
Stumbling out of your home, the salty sea breeze that had once felt invigorating now carried the bitter taste of sorrow. Seeking comfort and possibly an explanation, you found yourself at the doorsteps of your neighbor, Peter Pettigrew. Despite his oddities, he had always been kind, a familiar presence in the close-knit community. As you stood on his doorstep, tears streaming down your face, he met your gaze with a somber expression.
"I saw them, lass. Captain Remus and his crew," Peter confessed, the weight of the revelation evident in his tired eyes. "Said your father owed them money, and he never paid up." The words hit you like a cannonball, an explosion of anger and betrayal surging through your veins. The truth of the matter unfolded before you, and amidst the grief, a flame of vengeance ignited.
"You're telling me they killed my family over money?" you exclaimed, tears streaming down your face. Peter said nothing, eyes casting down to the floorboards of his home.
"Thank you, Peter," you whispered, your voice choked with both gratitude and determination. With a heavy heart, you turned away. Peter, however, called your name. You turned to look at him.
"I would lay low for a while. Remus he--he always comes back." You nodded once, walking out of his home.
Heedful of Peter's caution, you moved swiftly, a sense of urgency propelling each step. The weight of grief and the looming threat of Captain Remus's return hung heavy over your shoulders. Gathering the essentials became a solemn task, and gratitude filled your heart for your past self's foresight in stashing away money earned from odd jobs. It was a providential reserve that now fueled your escape, a lifeline in the unpredictable sea of danger that awaited.
As you entered your older brother's room, a solemn reverence enveloped you. The clothes you shed were not just garments; they were a symbolic shedding of the past, a poignant farewell to the life you once knew. Donning your brother's attire and severing your long locks with a decisive cut, you emerged transformed. An alias was born—Sterling. The reflection in the mirror seemed a stranger, a persona crafted out of necessity, veiling the woman beneath with the guise of a man.
Months unfolded like a blur as you navigated towns, existing on the fringe of society, always on the lookout for the shadow of Captain Remus and his relentless pursuit. The edges of existence became your refuge, and the nights were spent in silent contemplation beneath the canopy of stars. Each step taken with caution, each interaction tinged with the awareness of the danger that lurked in the shadows.
The coastal breeze whispered through the narrow alleyways of the town as you cautiously moved through the shadows, avoiding any unwanted attention. The flickering lanterns cast elongated shadows, creating a blanket of darkness and light in the quiet streets. Each step felt like an echo of your past life, now obscured by the cloak of Sterling.
In a dimly lit inn, you overheard snippets of conversation—rumors of Captain Remus's relentless pursuit and the escalating tensions among his crew. The news of his impending return spurred you into swift action, gathering your belongings and slipping away under the cover of night.
Fate, unpredictable as the sea, guided you through various towns, living on the fringes of society. The alias Sterling became your shield, a persona that allowed you to fade into the background. Each day brought a blend of anonymity and fear, and each night, the stars bore witness to your silent struggles and determination.
Months later, as you traversed a bustling town square, the collision with Captain Remus was both unexpected and inevitable. The impact sent a jolt through your disguised frame, and you steadied yourself before meeting his gaze. Taking a good look at the man who had wrought havoc upon your life, you couldn't help but despise the handsome features that masked the darkness within. Scars etched on his face told tales of battles, and his bright eyes, oblivious to the pain he had caused, glistened in the sunlight. Remus, his eyes sharp and piercing, regarded you with an air of indifference.
"Watch where you're going, lad," Remus chided, though his eyes lingered on you with curiosity. In your best "manly" voice, you grumbled an apology, attempting to divert attention from the woman beneath the façade of Sterling.
"What's your name?" he asked, nonchalantly.
"Sterling," you replied, your voice gruff, feigning indifference. Remus, seemingly unfazed, observed you for a moment before making an unexpected proposition.
"Say, Sterling, I'm looking for some help on my ship. I'll compensate. Won't be much, but you'll also have a place to stay and three meals a day."
The offer hung in the air, a precarious bridge leading into the heart of the storm. In that moment, the seed of your plan sprouted—a plan to gain trust, manipulate alliances, and exact revenge. "I could use the work," you grunted, accepting the proposition. Little did Remus know, beneath the guise of Sterling, a storm of vengeance brewed—a storm that would either consume you or reshape the destiny of those on the ship.
Accepting Remus's offer, you found yourself aboard his ship, an inconspicuous addition to the crew as Sterling. The wooden planks beneath your feet groaned in protest as the ship sliced through the moonlit waves, leaving a trail of phosphorescent ripples in its wake. The scent of salt and sea permeated the air, a constant reminder of the unpredictable journey that lay ahead.
Guided by Remus, you were shown to a drabby little room nestled at the bottom of the ship. Despite its humble appearance, he assured you of some privacy. "It's not much, I'm afraid, but it'll serve you well," he remarked before leaving you to settle in. As the door closed behind him, the dim light revealed a cramped space adorned with a simple bunk and a small porthole, offering a glimpse of the vast expanse beyond.
Alone in the confines of your quarters, you took a moment to breathe, your thoughts shrouded in the darkness of your hidden purpose. It was time to set the plan in motion, to weave the threads of manipulation and revenge that would ultimately lead to justice for your slaughtered family.
In the ensuing months on the ship, you observed Remus's multifaceted nature. His generosity extended not only to his crew but also to those they encountered on their seafaring exploits. Yet, beneath the veneer of kindness lurked a vengeful edge—a side of him that demanded retribution for debts owed and promises unkept. He was a complex and formidable man, earning the respect and fear of those who sailed under his flag.
However, in the disarray of piracy, a stark contrast emerged. While Remus ensured he received his due payment through various means, you noticed a peculiar absence—an absence of bloodshed in settling scores. Despite the ruthlessness attributed to pirates, you had yet to witness Remus taking a life, especially someone who owed him something. The dissonance between Peter's words and the reality unfolding before you sowed seeds of doubt, and questions began to fester in the recesses of your mind.
As the ship sailed through uncharted waters and treacherous tides, you grappled with the enigma that was Captain Remus Lupin. The dichotomy of his actions left you torn between the loyalty you had sworn to your family and the complexities of the man whose trust you sought to gain. The journey ahead, like the rolling waves beneath the ship, remained unpredictable, each passing day unveiling layers of truth and deception in the heart of piracy.
Despite your hesitance, you found yourself carrying out your plan. The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow over the ship's deck. The gentle creaking of the ship and the distant sound of waves provided a haunting backdrop as James Potter stood alone, lost in contemplation. You approached him, your footsteps muffled by the rhythm of the ocean.
With a sly smile playing on your lips, you interrupted the solitude that enveloped him. "James," you called softly, drawing his attention away from the vast expanse of the sea. His hazel eyes met yours, and you could see the glimmer of uncertainty within.
"Ever notice how Remus seems to lean towards Sirius in critical decisions?" you ventured, your tone a conspiratorial whisper that hung in the night air. "It's almost as if he trusts him more, values his judgment over yours."
James furrowed his brows, a subtle crease forming on his forehead. The words lingered in the air, planting a seed of doubt in his mind. "You think so?" he responded, his voice carrying a touch of uncertainty. It was a vulnerability that you seized upon, recognizing the opportunity to sow discontent.
Leaning closer, you continued, your words carefully chosen to accentuate James's growing feelings of inadequacy. "Remember the last mission? When Sirius suggested that risky maneuver, and Remus went along with it without questioning? It's like he has blind faith in Sirius's decisions, doesn't he?"
James's eyes darted away for a moment, memories of that particular mission playing in his mind. Doubt crept into his expression, a shadow of insecurity casting itself over his features. "I never really thought about it that way," he admitted, his voice laced with a hint of concern. With a gentle pat on his shoulder, you left James standing there, his thoughts swirling like the restless waves beneath the ship.

As the sun started to rise above the horizon, it casted a warm glow across the ship's deck, you found yourself stealing glances at Captain Remus. The way his attire clung to his every contour, the play of shadows on the weathered fabric—it was impossible not to appreciate the rugged allure he exuded. The ship's gentle sway seemed to accentuate the lines of his physique, and the golden hues of the fading sunlight danced in his tousled hair.
Unconsciously, your gaze lingered on the details—the intricate stitching on his well-worn coat, the glimpse of the compass tattoo peeking through the open neckline of his linen shirt. The sheathed cutlass at his side seemed like a part of him, a silent companion in his many adventures. A sense of admiration welled up within you, an involuntary response to the charisma that surrounded the Captain.
It was then that a sudden realization struck, jolting you out of your unintentional reverie. You weren't supposed to be captivated by Remus's rugged charm; you were Sterling, the alias you had crafted to infiltrate his crew and seek revenge. Reminding yourself of the bigger picture, of the vendetta that fueled your every move, became a struggle against the distracting pull of Remus's magnetic presence.
The longer you spent on the ship, the more challenging it became to maintain focus on your plan. The difficulty of reconciling your hidden identity with the growing fascination made every step of your strategic plan a battle against the tides of distraction. The very essence of the pirate's life, with its allure of freedom and daring exploits, became a potent force that tested the resolve of your carefully laid out intentions.
Yet, beneath the surface, the awareness of your true purpose persisted—a flame of determination that refused to be extinguished. The intricate dance of admiration and deception played out against the backdrop of the open sea, where every stolen glance and lingering thought carried the weight of a secret agenda. In the delicate balance between vulnerability and resolve, you navigated the uncharted waters of contradictory emotions, determined to stay the course of vengeance despite the enticing distractions that lay ahead.
____________________________________
A couple of weeks passed before you were able to get Sirius alone. You had instantly noticed James giving him the cold shoulder almost immediately.
The ship groaned and pitched as it battled against the tempestuous waves. Rain lashed against the wooden deck, and the air crackled with the energy of the storm. Peering up towards the deck, you spotted Sirius Black at the helm, his figure barely discernible against the deafening sea.
Approaching him with a concerned expression, you navigated the slippery deck as the ship swayed beneath your feet. "Sirius," you called out above the roaring winds, drawing his attention. His eyes met yours, reflecting the turbulent night that surrounded you both.
"Need a hand?" you shouted, offering assistance as the ship bucked beneath the force of the waves. Sirius, soaked and determined, nodded appreciatively. The salted spray stung your face as you joined him, hands gripping the wheel together in a shared effort to keep the ship on course.
In the midst of the storm, you seized the opportune moment to subtly introduce doubt. "James was just saying," you confided, your words carried away by the wind, "how he doubts your navigation skills. Thinks Remus made a mistake relying on you." The revelation hung in the air like a charged current, mingling with the thunderous sounds of the storm.
Sirius's grip on the wheel tightened, and his eyes, once focused on the turbulent waters, clouded with uncertainty. Raindrops mingled with the beads of seawater on his furrowed brow. Doubt crept into his expression like a stealthy intruder, casting shadows over the loyalty he held for Remus.
"He said that?" Sirius muttered, jaw clenched against the gusts of wind. The weight of perceived betrayal bore down on him, the discord between friends brewing in the tempest. The ship rocked violently, mirroring the tumult within Sirius's mind.
As you continued to struggle against the storm, the atmosphere between you and Sirius remained charged with unspoken tension. The foundation of trust between Remus and Sirius, once unshakable, now trembled under the strain of doubt. The storm raged on, both outside and within, setting the stage for the discord that would continue to unfold among the crew.
________________________________
Below deck, the atmosphere was suffocating, the air thick with the smell of salt, damp wood, and a sense of confinement. The cramped quarters provided a clandestine setting for the disquiet that had taken root among the crew. As you navigated through the narrow passageways, you couldn't help but catch snippets of hushed conversations, the discontent of the crew simmering beneath the surface.
Seizing the opportunity to exploit the unrest, you strategically approached small groups, subtly weaving tales of Remus's past decisions that had allegedly led to hardships for some. The dim light flickered overhead, casting eerie shadows on the faces of the crew as you spoke of sacrifices made and opportunities missed under Remus's leadership. The discontent grew like a smoldering ember, and soon, murmurs of dissatisfaction began to fill the air.
James, ever vigilant and loyal, overheard the discontented whispers. His brow furrowed, and a frown etched itself onto his face as he absorbed the implications of the crew's grievances. Concern etched across his features, he sought out Sirius, finding him in a secluded corner of the below-deck quarters.
"Sirius," James began, his voice low but laden with intensity. "Have you heard what they're saying about Remus? They think he might not have our best interests at heart." The gravity of the situation hung between them, and James's unwavering loyalty to Remus wavered in the face of the crew's growing dissent.
Sirius, already grappling with doubts of his own, looked at James with a mixture of uncertainty and contemplation. The camaraderie that had bound them through countless adventures now seemed strained under the weight of suspicion. The confined space below deck seemed to amplify the tension as the two friends confronted the unsettling notion that Remus might not be the unwavering leader they had always believed him to be.
Amidst the rising tensions on the ship, you sought out Captain Remus Lupin, the weight of feigned concern apparent in your expression. The wooden planks creaked beneath your footsteps as you approached him, the air thick with the palpable unease that had settled over the vessel like an impending storm.
With a practiced facade of innocence, you addressed Remus, "Captain, I couldn't help but notice that James and Sirius have been arguing more than usual. It's becoming quite noticeable, and I'm afraid it might be affecting the crew's morale." Your words, delivered with a touch of fabricated sympathy, painted a picture of disarray among his trusted allies.
Remus's brow furrowed in genuine concern. The bond between James and Sirius, once unbreakable, now showed visible strains. Troubled by the potential discord among his closest allies, Remus ran a hand through his disheveled hair, a sign of the internal turmoil brewing within him.
"Arguing?" Remus questioned, his voice reflecting a mix of confusion and worry. The idea of a divide among his crew, particularly between James and Sirius, struck a nerve. His gaze shifted between the crew members on the deck, searching for signs of discontent that had eluded him until now.
As you continued to feign concern, subtly stoking the flames of doubt, Remus's thoughts spiraled into introspection. The once clear path of unity and camaraderie now seemed clouded with uncertainty. The shadows of doubt cast upon his leadership lingered, leaving him questioning the very fabric that held his crew together.
_______________________________
The ship, once a bastion of unity, now teetered on the brink of disintegration. Internal conflicts had transformed the crew's dynamic into a powder keg of resentment and mistrust. Captain Remus was growing restless, sensing an insidious force at play, suspected betrayal from within. The air crackled with tension as suspicions reached a boiling point.
Remus's boots thumped against the floor as he hurried to your cabin. The wooden door of your cabin splintered open under the force of Remus's urgency. The dim light within flickered as your body, in the midst of changing attire, became an unintended tableau for the captain's intrusion. Shocked by the unexpected sight, Remus's gaze widened, capturing an unintended glimpse of vulnerability.
You gasped, hastily attempting to cover yourself, but it was too late. Remus, momentarily caught off guard, now stood witness to the revelation of your true identity. The realization echoed through the cabin, your "manly" facade unraveling like a threadbare cloth. A palpable sense of embarrassment and vulnerability hung in the air.
In that moment, Remus observed the subtle details—your hair, once concealed beneath the guise of Sterling, now flowing freely. A silent recognition passed through his mind, though he dismissed it as many men within the crew sported long locks.
A subtle recognition flickered in Remus's observant eyes. His gaze traced the contours of your face, now more revealing without the disguise that had obscured your womanly features. The delicate curve of your jaw, the softness in the arch of your brows, and the expressive depths of your eyes—the intricate details unveiled in the absence of the masculine facade.
Seeing you naked wasn't something he expected, and it took him a second to process this before stepping back into the small hall, slamming the door shut. It opened seconds later, your hair still down, but fully clothed. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. However, his attention went from wanting to have his hands all over you to the glinting metal in your hands.
"Why did you kill my family while sparing others who owed you money?" you demanded, your voice laced with the pain of betrayal, as you pushed him up against the wall, knife to his neck. Remus, taken aback by the revelation, questioned the authenticity of your claim.
"Your family? Kill? You have no idea the accusations you're throwing out," he replied, growing irritated. You say nothing, bringing the knife closer to his throat.
"You killed them out of spite just because my father owed you something."
"Who is your father?"
"Albus. Albus Dumbledore."
"I've never met an Albus Dumbledore before in my life," Remus said, incredulously. "Who told you that?"
"My neighbor. Peter--Peter Pettigrew. Said he saw the lot of you murder my family." When you disclosed Peter Pettigrew's name, Remus's face paled with realization.
"Your father didn't owe me a thing. Peter, on the other hand, owed me lots of money," Remus confessed, dispelling the fog of deception that had clouded your vendetta. He explained that he had spared Peter once before, only to catch him squandering the money in a pub. The truth, a beacon in the darkness, hung heavy in the air.
"I never wanted innocent blood on my hands. I've killed before, yes, but never over something as petty as money," he admitted.
The revelation of truth hung in the air, bitter and unforgiving, like a medicine applied to wounds that had festered in the shadows for far too long. The realization that your vendetta had been fueled by misinformation, that the blood staining your hands belonged to innocents, weighed heavily on your conscience.
Faltering under the weight of the truth, you lowered the knife, its metallic echo resonating through the dimly lit cabin. It was a sound that seemed to encapsulate the finality of the moment, a symbolic relinquishing of the weapon that had sought to mete out justice.
Knees giving way beneath you, you collapsed, the wooden planks of the ship bearing witness to the vulnerability that spilled forth. A strangled sob escaped your lips, a raw admission of the mistakes made in the relentless pursuit of revenge. The tears that flowed were not just for your family but for the misguided path you had trodden in the name of justice.
In this moment of despair, large, rough hands enveloped you, offering an unexpected sanctuary. Remus, recognizing the weight of your actions and the pain you carried, pulled you up into a tight hug. It was a surprising turn of events, a gesture of solace from the very man you had sought to bring to justice.
As you rested against Remus's chest, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat offered a reassurance that transcended words. In the midst of the turmoil, he acknowledged the complexity of your motives. There, in the embrace of the captain whose ship you had sought to dismantle, a strange camaraderie emerged—one born out of shared pain, deception, and the quest for redemption.
Remus's voice, a low murmur in the cavernous cabin, expressed admiration for your cunning ability to sow discord within the crew. It was an unexpected twist, an acknowledgment of the strategic mind that had manipulated the threads of loyalty.
Weeks drifted by like waves rolling across the open sea, each passing day carrying the weight of revelations and transformations. In the aftermath of the confrontation, a peculiar bond had formed between you and Remus. The once hostile tension had softened into shared understanding, born out of the crucible of truth and forgiveness.
Navigating the complexities of the ship's dynamics, you found comfort in Remus's company. Late-night conversations beneath the starlit sky became a ritual, the creaking of the ship and the distant sound of waves forming the backdrop to shared confidences.
The crew, initially shocked by the revelation of your true identity as a woman, gradually came to terms with the unexpected twist. Assumptions shattered like glass as they witnessed the strength and resilience that Sterling, now revealed as a woman named Y/N, brought to the crew. Remus, in a display of unwavering leadership, ensured that the crew embraced the newfound truth.
Confronting the crew with your identity was a daunting task, but the revelation unfolded with surprising acceptance. The once-divided ship, now united in understanding, sailed through the challenges of piracy with a newfound camaraderie. Laughter echoed on the deck, and the bonds of loyalty were reforged amidst shared stories and shared burdens.
Amidst the salty breeze and the sound of the sea, a sense of peace settled over the ship. The crew, once torn by internal strife, now stood as a testament to the resilience of human connection. James, Sirius, and the others, initially taken aback, extended their acceptance and support, sealing the wounds of mistrust with gestures of togetherness.
The lingering presence of Peter Pettigrew, the catalyst for the tumultuous events that had unfolded, remained like a shadow on the horizon. In a twist of poetic justice, the crew, fueled by a shared desire for retribution, concocted a plan to bring Peter to justice. The tables turned as the once-manipulator found himself at the mercy of the very crew he had deceived.
The confrontation with Peter unfolded with a satisfying sense of closure, his machinations exposed and his fate left to the mercy of the sea. The crew, now bound by a newfound unity, watched as the tides of justice ebbed and flowed, carrying away the remnants of a past tainted by betrayal.
As the ship sailed through the moonlit waves, Remus guided you to the quiet corner of the deck where the sea breeze carried the scent of salt and adventure. The night sky stretched above, a canopy of stars reflecting in both your eyes. In the tranquil embrace of the open sea, the unspoken connection between you and Remus unfolded like a delicate dance.
Remus's gaze, soft and searching, met yours as he cupped your cheek with a rough yet gentle hand. The rhythmic sound of the waves provided a backdrop to the moment, the ship swaying beneath you in a dance with the ocean. A shared understanding passed between you, a recognition of the trials overcome and the promise of a new beginning.
In that quiet space, beneath the celestial tapestry, Remus leaned in. His lips, warm and tender, met yours in a kiss that spoke of forgiveness, redemption, and the uncharted journey that lay ahead. The world faded away, leaving only the sensation of his touch and the heartbeat that resonated between you.
Time seemed to stand still as the kiss lingered, a silent promise sealed in the gentle meeting of lips. It was a moment of connection, a bridge between the turbulent past and the uncertain future. The sea, bearing witness to the blossoming love, whispered its approval in the rustle of the sails and the lull of the waves.
As you pulled away, the moonlight reflected in Remus's eyes mirrored the shared emotions that hung in the air. The ship sailed on, carrying with it the resonance of a kiss that marked the beginning of a new chapter—a chapter written on the vast canvas of the open sea, where love and adventure intertwined in the flow of the tide.

He finds you in the library, head hanging over a long piece of parchment filled with your tiny, scraggly handwriting.
“What are you doing, all cooped up in here? The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day!” Remus scolds you, crossing his arms and sending you a fond look.
You won’t even look at him, too focused on your work. “I think I found this error in my essay on the uprising of the elves of 1670, I just had to fact-check it so Professor Binns doesn’t think I’m an absolute idiot–”
“No one thinks that”, Remus says softly. You smile, finally meeting his eyes. “You’re too kind.”
He nods. “Just kind enough, I’d say.”
You let your quill fall onto the table. Standing up with a screech from the chair, you actually take a proper look at him. Remus is for once not drowning in a bulky jumper, probably due to the hot beginning-of-summer weather. Instead, he’s wearing a breezy short-sleeved shirt and a pair of light-blue jeans. His arms are exposed, both to your dismayal and pleasure. You pretend not to notice the blonde, soft-looking hairs dusting his forearms. He looks happy, he does well in summer. Freckles are starting to show across his nose and cheeks, his hair becoming just a shade lighter in the sun. It’s a teasing view of what could be yours, if one of you could just swallow your pride and tell each other.
He towers over you even though you’re now standing instead of sitting down. He leans even closer, pretending not to notice how your breath hitches. Heart pumps faster, making you feel dizzy. “Whadd’ya say, wanna head down to the lake? Maybe a quick skinny-dip?”
“A– Skinny dip?” A warmth spreads across your face, fills your entire body. You do your best to stay afloat. “Are you actually serious?” you blubber out.
“Why wouldn’t I be.” He flashes a smile. Breath hot on your face, nose barely grazing yours. You wonder how you’re gonna survive this conversation.
He doesn’t wipe the suggestive grin from his face. He knows what he’s doing to you, how could he not? “Maybe a midnight dip is more to your liking, Lovebug?”
Lovebug? Your brain is turning to mush.
You clear your throat. Suddenly, a cold, careless anxiety starts to spread. You take a breath, “Where’s this all coming from? Did… Did Sirius put you up to this? To tease me, or something?”
Remus’ face drops. His hands get out of control, waving in broad gestures as he talks. “No, no, no… I’m sorry, I’m just… I’m being silly. Sorry. That was, that was inappropriate. I’m really sorry.”
You smile weakly at him. Of course you forgive him. Of course.
Remus isn’t ready to give up quite yet. He places a hand on your shoulder, squeezing softly. It trails down, until it can toy with your fingers. “But for the record, I wouldn’t mind going skinny dipping tonight. Together. Just you and me.”
“Remus, what do you mean?” you say slowly.
“That I want to… I want… I want you.”
Your heart drops out of you Mary-Janes, leaving you limp and jelly-like. “Wh– What?”
“Sorry. That’s inappropriate too. Let’s just– Let’s just forget everything happened. I’m gonna go and uuh– die of shame now. See you at dinner-”
He turns around quickly, almost sprinting for the librabry exit. You catch his hand, stopping his escape. Your hands intertwine. Eyes meet.
You exhale. “I want you too.” A beat of silence.
Then his face opens up in a grin, shining like the sun. “You do?”
You nod.
Remus grabs your hand, placing a tender kiss on it. He won’t stop smiling. “What… What do we do now?”
“How about”, you grasp his shirt, feeling the light fabric between your fingers. “A skinny dip in the lake, at midnight?”
“Sounds perfect.”
“Great. Now go away, please. I have an essay to write.”
“Will do, Lovebug. See you tonight.”
“See you.”
You smile as you see him leave the library. He turns around once, twice, to send a blazing smile your way. The essay in front of you melts into a million daydreams all including a certain brown-haired boy. Lovebug.

"Your BIG Purchase is on the Way!" - Part Two
Read part one here! this was requested :) and I'm sorry it took so long! I tried to brainstorm with very Remus-y proposal ideas-- something nice and intimate. constructive criticism is always welcome! -- It had been four long months, almost five, since that fateful day when I accidentally stumbled upon Remus' email, revealing the secret of my engagement ring. In the beginning, I was relentless in my quest to extract more information from him, desperate for details about the proposal and the ring itself. However, Remus, ever the master of secrecy, remained tight-lipped. He reveled in my frustration, his mischievous smile and twinkling eyes the only response to my persistent inquiries.
As time went on, my incessant pestering began to wane. The initial surge of excitement faded and with Remus's subtle encouragement (or lack thereof), I slowly learned to be patient. The first month was a relentless barrage of questions, but as the weeks passed, my curiosity subsided. Remus, clever as ever, had been working overtime to keep me from suspecting anything. He sent me on regular trips to get my nails done, generously paid for my hair appointments, and even offered to buy me new clothes and shoes. Every other week, he treated me to a delightful date, all in an effort to divert my attention from the imminent proposal. I couldn't complain though; these gestures of love and distraction were quite enjoyable.
Despite all this, the ring remained elusive. I knew he had it, hidden away somewhere, but how much longer would he make me wait? Almost five months had passed, and there were no signs of progress. Our friends, naturally, were all in on the secret. I had confided in my closest friends, Lily, Marlene, and Dorcus, while Remus had shared the news with his own circle. We couldn't help but discuss it at social gatherings, fueling my anticipation even further. Lily, Marlene, and Dorcus had even attempted to extract information from Remus, both in my presence and without, but he managed to resist their charms. Sirius, James, and Peter, on the other hand, took pleasure in teasing Remus whenever they could, making me wonder what they might know.
So, when Remus casually suggested a date to the botanical gardens on the following Saturday, I didn't think much of it. After all, we were almost five months into this waiting game, and there had been no indication that the engagement was imminent. The thought of visiting the gardens with their vibrant blooms was delightful, but I cautiously reminded myself not to get my hopes up too high.
As the week progressed, I followed my usual routine of being sent to the salon for nail and hair appointments. I diligently followed my skincare regimen to maintain a flawless complexion, desperately hoping that the occasion was drawing near. I carefully selected my outfit for the day, settling on a knee-length vanilla dress that exuded the freshness of spring. "I'm just wearing spring colors," I reassured myself, attempting to temper my expectations.
On the day of our outing, I found Remus waiting for me in the kitchen, dressed in a light blue polo shirt and chinos that accentuated his understated charm. My heart fluttered as he looked at me with admiration and love.
"You look absolutely stunning, darling," he complimented me, causing a blush to creep onto my cheeks.
"Thank you," I replied, unable to hide my own smile. "You're not so bad yourself." We made our way to Remus' car, ready to embark on our adventure to the botanical gardens.
The weather was perfect, the sun gently caressing the landscape with its warm rays. The gentle breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers, filling the air with an intoxicating fragrance. As we strolled through the gardens hand in hand, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation building within me. The botanical gardens were indeed a sight to behold, with their meticulously manicured landscapes and a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors. It was as if nature itself had conspired to create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable moment.
We wandered through winding paths, surrounded by a tapestry of blossoms and lush greenery. Remus seemed unusually serene, his usual reserved demeanor radiating a quiet confidence. The sunlight danced on his face, highlighting the slight smile that played at the corners of his lips. My heart skipped a beat, wondering if this serene atmosphere was a prelude to something extraordinary.
As we reached a secluded corner of the gardens, a picturesque gazebo emerged, adorned with delicate climbing vines. It was like a hidden oasis, offering privacy amidst the beauty of nature. Remus gently led me toward it, his hand warm and reassuring in mine. The air was charged with anticipation, and a thrilling sense of unknown filled my every breath.
As we approached, Remus paused, a soft smile gracing his lips. He reached behind him, revealing a beautifully arranged bouquet of flowers adorned with baby's breath. Their vibrant hues complemented the natural splendor of the surroundings, a kaleidoscope of colors blending seamlessly. The scent of the blossoms filled the air, intoxicating and sweet.
"Before we take this next step together," Remus began, his voice filled with tenderness, "I want to present you with this bouquet, a symbol of the love and beauty that surrounds us as well as my promise to you. Red roses for romance and passion. Pink peonies for beauty and elegance. Violets for faith and affection. Hydrangeas for togetherness and unity. And gardenias for hope and clarity." He extended the bouquet towards me, his eyes shining with adoration.
"Thank you, Remus," I whispered, my voice filled with love and appreciation. "They are so beautiful..." I trailed off, amazed. Within. the shelter of the gazebo's lattice walls, we stood face to face, surrounded by the beauty of nature's creation. Remus took a deep breath, his eyes fixed upon me as if etching every detail into his memory.
"These past months have been a testament to our love and patience," he began, his voice filled with a mix of vulnerability and determination. "Every day, I have marveled at your strength and the depth of our connection. And now, here, in this place of breathtaking beauty, I want to make a promise to you."
Tears welled up in my eyes as Remus pulled out a small velvet box and dropped to his knee, revealing the gleaming amethyst ring, finally making its first appearance since learning about it. Its radiant beauty sparkled, whether by the sunlight or my tears, I could not tell.
"Will you, my beloved, embark on this journey of forever with me?" Remus asked, his voice filled with hope and unwavering love.
Overwhelmed with emotion, I nodded, and spoke, my voice barely a whisper. "Yes, Remus," I cleared my throat. "Yes, a thousand times yes!"
With trembling hands, he slipped the ring onto my finger, a perfect fit. He stood up and immediately brought his hands to my face and kissed me. The only sounds I could hear were the soft rustling of leaves and the pounding of my heart.

Young!Remus Lupin x Reader - Never Stop Being You
For @loving-and-dreaming (and for anyone else who has ever felt like this) ; I hope this fic helps I saw it a while ago whilst I was reading Remus fics!
I hope you all enjoy this!
“Y/n, I was thinking we could go to the library after potion classroom study?” Remus said, lifting his head up from the book he’d been enthralled in most of the morning.
“Yeah; that sounds good, hon-Remus,” Y/n replied with barely even a smile before she left the Gryffindor Common room altogether.
Remus’ eyes narrowed in both confusion and concern; a look that his fellow Marauders also mirrored.
Y/n loved the library, that’s where she spent eighty percent of her time when she wasn’t in classes and sure studying wasn’t her favorite thing to do but it was odd to see her so indifferent by what he said.
She also rarely called anyone by their first name unless it was her first time meeting them; or had told her to call them by their name. But Remus had never done that; in fact he found it adorable that she called him honey; it made his heart feel all warm and fuzzy.
So hearing his actual name fall from her lips was like a punch in the gut.
She hadn’t called him by his full name since they met each other; in their first year, they were now in their seventh….
“Did I just hear that correctly?” He asked; rubbing the back of his neck nervously; his mind trying to work out if maybe he had misheard her.
“Moony, what did you do?” Sirius questioned; his eyebrows raised as he looked at his friend; Sirius, much like Remus had rarely seen Y/n call anyone by their first name, the only time he’d experienced it was when she was really mad at him for pulling a prank on her, that went terribly wrong and ruined one of her favorite books.
Hence why Sirius assumed that Remus and Y/n had had a falling out.
However, Lily soon corrected that assumption, “He hasn’t done anything,”
“She’s been like that for a few days,” Marlene continued with a sigh, as she twiddled her quill in between her fingers, “It’s like she’s stopping herself from saying the nicknames she’s called us for years…”
Remus hadn’t been around as much the last few days because of the full moon, he’d spent most of his time in the hospital wing and in his dorm room; today was the first real day he’d felt strong enough to go back to classes.
Something had happened to Y/n…and he couldn’t help the ache of guilt in his chest at the thought of something happening to her and him not being there.
But he was here now; and he was going to find out what had happened to make her act unlike herself.
~~~~~
Throughout the rest of the day, Remus kept an eye on Y/n…and although it was exactly like Marlene had said, she was calling everyone by their first name, avoiding all the nicknames she used to call people; there was also something else going on.
She was quiet; unusually so.
She barely cracked a smile at Sirius’ joke in Charms class; and Remus knew that that was a joke she would’ve normally laughed at.
It was like a Dementor had come along and sucked all of the happiness out of her.
In fact he was fully prepared for her not to show up to their study session today; but a small wave of relief washed over him when he saw her making her way over to him.
“Hey,” Remus greeted softly as she sat down; there were a million questions racing around in his head, but he thought it was best to let her get comfortable before he started asking her questions.
After an hour of studying; it was not Remus who broke the silence they were in, it was Y/n.
“What’s wrong? She asked; her eyes not once dithering from the book she was reading.
“Shit,” Remus mumbled under his breath; as he looked up at Y/n. He’d been hoping that she was so engrossed in her charms book to notice his worried glances; clearly, he was wrong.
“I could ask you the same question?” He countered gently; closing the book he’d been trying and failing to read.
“I’m fine,” she stated bluntly; trying to ignore the concern in Remus’ eyes as he looked at her.
“I’m just saying…if there’s something wrong…you can talk to me, Y/n/n y’know that right?” he smiled reassuringly.
He knew she was lying when she said she was fine; but he also respected that maybe she didn’t want to talk about what was wrong right now and as much as he wanted her to tell him what was wrong so he could help her, he also wasn’t going to push her.
“Why does everyone think there’s something wrong with me?” Y/n snapped; silencing the minimal chitter in the background as she gathered her belongings and quickly left the library.
He swore he saw her wipe a few tears from her cheek before she left; and that just made his heart ache even more as his mind fought with itself for a few moments; trying to decide what the best thing to do was, if he went after her he was worried that she would feel like she didn’t have any space; but alternatively he also hated the thought of her being alone whilst she was upset.
He couldn’t leave her.
So he rushed after her, trying to think of where she could be.
He tried all the usual places he thought he’d find her; and then all of the less likely places; and he couldn’t find James who had the map, so that ruled that out as an option of trying to find her.
It was a complete and utter coincidence that he bumped into her quite literally while he was walking towards the Quidditch pitch where James and Sirius were.
“Y/n/n-” his words stopped in his throat when he saw just how puffy and red her eyes were.
“C’mere,” he whispered, pulling her into his arms; a gesture which she didn’t fight against; instead, she simply melted into the warmth and comfort of his arms, as he rubbed her back soothingly.
“I’m sorry,” She sniffled, pulling herself away from him slightly so that she could wipe her tears away.
“You don’t need to be sorry,” he cooed; continue to rub small circles into her back; while his other hand rose to her face, caressing her cheek.
“Am I too much?” She asked, the question catching Remus completely off guard.
“Am I too nice; too bubbly, just…too much, I know people don’t always like nicknames…and I can be a bit too loud sometimes; that’s not something I’m not used to hearing but I didn’t think it annoyed people, is it annoying?”
The words were falling from her lips faster than Remus’ mind could keep up with; but after a few seconds the words had processed.
“It’s not annoying, not at all,” he said, tilting her head up slightly so that their eyes met, “Why don’t you start from the beginning?”
So she did.
She explained what had happened a few nights ago; that a handful of students had said that she was too friendly and nice to everyone; that she was too bubbly and should learn to not talk as much, and the nicknames she called people, like honey were just weird.
And that was all because she offered to help them with an assignment.
“I was…I was just trying to help,” she continued; picking the skin around her thumb anxiously.
“I know and there is nothing wrong with that,” Remus stated, taking her hands in his, “you don’t have to shrink who you are just because other people can’t appreciate how brilliant you are,”
“I’m not brilliant,” she mumbled, her thumbs rubbing along the side of my knuckle.
“Yes, you are,” he argued; though his tone remained soft, as his thumb traced over her bottom lip.
“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest and most beautiful person I have known and even that is an understatement,” he breathed, unknowingly closing the small distance between them; until their lips were almost touching.
He glanced down at her lips, before meeting her eyes, silently asking her if this was okay.
She didn’t say anything; she simply closed the distance between them herself.
The initial shock of her lips on his made him stumble back a little; thankfully it was not enough to break the kiss; he wished his lips could heal her hurt, he wished he could kiss the pain away and show her just how amazing she was in his eyes.
“You are amazing,” he breathed in between kisses before placing one last kiss on her forehead, before pulling her back into his arms, “and I will always remind you of that.”
Leaving - Part 2 (Remus Lupin x Potter!reader)
Reader is James Potter's sister.
Warnings: injuries/wounds, I think that's it
Part 1
It had been weeks since Remus left your home. Through your kitchen window, you could see the first real snowstorm growing outside your cottage located on the outskirts of Hogsmeade.
After a restless night, the snow brought you comfort. Fall might be your favorite season but winter came in at a close second.
Deciding against your usual cup of tea, you began to grab the necessities to make hot chocolate. You had planned to spend the morning reading by your fireplace where you could watch the snowfall outside your living room window.
There was a knock at your door, so faint you almost didn't hear it. Opal chirped at the sound as you moved to the door located in the kitchen. You were met with a gust of cold winter air hitting your skin as you opened it. The chill that blew through your sweater was immediately forgotten when you noticed the tattered clothed, shivering man on your doorstep, looking as if he would collapse at any second.
"Remus" you let out a gasp as you rushed to support him, leading him inside.
"I'm sorry" you faintly heard him mumble before he groaned at the movement.
You rushed him to the chair in front of the fireplace, grabbing a knitted blanket to wrap around him. Bending down to his eye level you noticed very recent wounds on his face. Of course, you knew what had been last night. It was the reason you couldn't sleep. Thoughts of Remus alone during the full moon plagued your mind. You had to shake the thought of him going through his transformation alone from your head before your heart broke anymore for the man you have been in love with since 6th year.
"Remus" you spoke softly to get his attention. He slowly shifted his gaze from the crackling fire to your eyes.
"I'll go grab some gauze and a few potions to help with the healing while you warm up." he was too weak both from the horrible night and being in your presence again to argue, to ask you to just sit with him so he just nodded his head instead.
-------------------------------------
You finished cleaning his wounds and wrapped gauze around his torso. As you put the roll of gauze on the coffee table, Remus settled back into the sofa.
"Do you want some hot chocolate, I was just about to make some before, well, you know" you asked motioning towards him, once again drawing his eyes away from the fire to meet yours.
"Oh, but you should probably rest, I know how rough those nights can be for you Rem, and..." before you could finish rambling he interrupted you with a weak smirk.
"Hot chocolate would be nice"
-------------------------------------
After your cups of hot chocolate were finished you helped Remus move to lie down even though you argued that your bed would be better for a man as tall as him. His heart ached at the thought of sleeping in your bed again when he wasn't sure if you even still loved him. So he protested that he would be fine and that he couldn't be bothered with journeying up a flight of stairs, before mumbling that he also wanted to be near you.
Which leads you to where you are now, curled up on your armchair in front of the fireplace, reading your book. Perhaps glancing more often than you would ever admit to Remus's sleeping figure on your sofa.
Sneaking Around
pairing: young!remus lupin x potter!reader
summary: You're James' little sister, so when you and Remus want some alone time at a party, you have to sneak away...
word count: 1.7k
warnings: SMUT, oral (f!receiving), p in v, fluff, drunkenness, best friend's little sister (?)
Remus brings the beer bottle to his lips to take a swig as he stands at the edge of the common room, leaning against the wall. Gryffindor was throwing one of their frequent post-Quidditch match parties, but Remus was content just people watching. And by people, he meant you.
He had seen you down a drink or two, so you were in just the right mood to be dancing in the center of the room with your friends on either side of you. You looked beautiful with your robes discarded and only your white button down and skirt on, the top few buttons getting undone as the night went on. You were practically incandescent with the moonlight shining on you through the small windows, and for a moment, Remus nearly forgot why he hated the moon so much.
Remus loved observing you at parties, where there were enough people that he wouldn't be caught watching you. You were James' little sister, and he had made it extremely clear that none of the marauders were to even think about looking at you ('especially you, Padfoot').
He didn't even know how he had caught your attention. You were easily the most beautiful girl in your year and you were one of the smartest on top of that. He would have expected you to go after someone like Sirius, who was known for his looks and his charm, but you had approached him. Remus still couldn't believe you had fallen for him, but now that he had you, he had no plans of ever letting you go.
Your suggestive dancing jolts him from his thoughts and he takes another swig of his beer in an effort to hide his smirk. If he had it his way, he would walk into the center of the common room and kiss you in front of everybody, but he couldn't do that to James.
~~~
You finally start to feel the shots you and your friends had taken earlier as you dance with them in the Gryffindor common room. The sheer number of bodies in the room brought the temperature up and you undo another button on your blouse as sweat collects on your chest.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Remus sipping his beer and you smile to yourself as you imagine what could be going through his mind right now. He wasn't much for parties, but his friends loved them, and he liked spending time with his friends.
"Are you ever gonna tell your brother about him?" Marlene whispers from next to you, giving you a pointed look.
Pursing your lips, you shrug. "I've been ready to tell James for a bit now, but Remus is his best friend and I know he would go bloody mad if he found out."
You're dancing again when Marlene widens her eyes in warning and makes a turn around motion with her head. Confused, you spin around to see Sirius approaching. He gives you a sultry smirk, which makes you internally roll your eyes, and stops in front of you.
"Hey, Potter," he grins, his hands stuck lazily in his pockets, "wanna dance?"
Sirius had been casually flirting with you for months, but you had always been able to derail him in one way or another.
You bite your lip, taking a step away from him, "I was actually just about to get a drink, but I know Marlene would love to dance with you."
Shooting her a half-serious apologetic look, you slip away and walk over to Remus.
He looks surprised to see you approach, but you just lean in and whisper, "This party is getting a bit stuffy, don't you think?"
Then, before he can respond, you grab his hand and lead him into the stairwell that connect to the boys' dormitories.
"What's going o-" he begins before you pull him forward by the collar and press your lips to his.
He reciprocates immediately, his hands gripping your waist and leaning you against the wall of the stairway.
"I missed you today," Remus groans as you run your fingers through his unruly hair. A slight tug of his hair makes him bite your lip and you let him swallow your moan.
"I missed you too, Moony," you sigh, dragging your tongue along the seam of his lips. He parts them and you immediately deepen the kiss, tasting spearmint and beer.
Remus can feel your heart beating rapidly against his chest and he loves that he has that effect on you. He squeezes your waist before sliding a hand up your back until he's gripping the back of your head, your hair tangled around his fingers. Before he can take control of the kiss, you spin the two of you around and push Remus against the wall. His lips curve into a small smile against your own and he lets you take control.
But the taste of his mouth isn't enough and you claw at the hem of his shirt to pull it off of him, when he pulls back.
"We can't do this here," Remus says pointedly, "James could see."
You scrunch your lips, crossing your arms. "What if I want him to see? I'm getting really tired of hiding from everyone, Remus."
He runs a hand through his messed-up hair, letting out a deep breath. "I know, darling, but he's my best friend and I really don't want him to find out like this."
You pout, knowing he's right, but then he grins, "But I can make it up to you upstairs."
The corner of your lips curves up slightly and before you know what he's doing, he lifts you up, tossing you over his shoulder as you squeal with surprise. Remus' tall frame carries you up the stairs and into the boys' dormitories, where he throws you onto his bed.
You grin as he crawls on top of you, his hands settling on the pillow on either side of your head. When he's directly above you, you give him a coy smile that he immediately covers with a searing kiss. His mouth burns against yours and you can't help but moan as he parts your lips with his tongue.
To the public eye, Remus Lupin was an innocent and studious seventh year who was only mentioned in the context of exams or the other marauders. But you got to see the side of him that no one else did. The loving and funny and sexy side of him.
You're so focused on his kisses that you don't notice when his hand slips down your body. The first brush of his fingertips against your clothed core makes you gasp, spurring him into action. He pushes your skirt up around your waist and brings his lithe fingers down to touch you.
When he makes contact, you're practically dripping and he groans audibly, looking up to meet your eyes. "Baby, you're so wet."
Anticipation courses through your veins and you don't have a chance to respond before Remus starts kissing his way down your body. When his tongue dips into your slick heat, you moan loud enough that Remus actually laughs.
"Might wanna keep it down, darling," he whispers diplomatically, his eyes glinting with laughter. "Don't want the whole party to hear you."
Rolling your eyes, you push his head back down. "Shut up, Moony."
He chuckles before diving back in, his lips latching onto your clit and sucking, making your toes curl. Remus can feel your arousal dripping down his chin and he laps it up with his tongue, trying to taste every inch of you that he can.
His tongue thrusts into you and your back flies off the bed, an anguished moan leaving your mouth, as you grasp onto his hair to keep him right where he is. "Oh, god, keep doing that."
A smirk ghosts across his face as he feels you fluttering against his mouth. When he wraps his lips around your clit one more time and sucks, you come undone below him.
Heat zings up your spine and you swear you can see stars as Remus works you through your orgasm.
"Holy shit, Moony," you huff, your chest still heaving as he climbs back up over you. "You weren't kidding about making it up to me."
A wicked smile crosses his face and he presses a chaste kiss to your lips. "Oh, we're not done yet."
Remus quickly sheds his trousers and boxers off, leaving him bare before you. You find yourself staring in awe at his sizeable length, when he reaches up to yank your blouse open. He places a small kiss on your exposed nipple, before swirling his tongue around it and sucking.
You sigh, wanting to let him take his time with each bud, but you can't ignore the feeling of his hard cock prodding your thigh.
"Enough teasing," you gasp, "please, just fuck me."
He doesn't need to be told twice.
Within moments, he has himself lined up with your entrance and begins pushing in slowly. The stretch is a sweet sting that devolves into a cascade of warm pleasure.
"Fuck," Remus groans, gripping your hips so tight he's sure to leave bruises. "You feel so good, baby."
His hands glide up to your breasts, and he tweaks your nipples, making you moan loudly. When he ramps up the pace of his thrusts, you cry out, your nails raking down his back.
The sharp sensation of your nails digging into him excites him further and soon your cries are loud enough to alert the whole of Gryffindor tower. You grip the sheets below you in an effort to anchor yourself, but when he angles his hips to hit that sweet spot inside of you, you can't hold back your moans.
Remus slams a hand over your mouth without stopping his movements, drilling you closer and closer to your release.
Soon he can feel you squeezing around him, and he screws his eyes shut to keep from coming on the spot.
"C'mon, darling," he whispers, his mouth pressed against the shell of your ear. "Come for me."
With another thud, your head falls back and you cry out silently, your hand covering his. The pressure of your release brings Remus to his, and he groans behind gritted teeth.
He falls onto the bed beside you, pulling you into his arms, your head below his chin.
You press a kiss to his neck, smiling, "Remus, that was-"
"Aye, Moony, you up there?" James' voice calls from the bottom of the stairs.
You both look at each other in alarm. "Oh shit."

Y/n is Sirius and Regulus' cousin and she dates Remus but they break up, everyone thinks she turned dark. After graduating from Hogwarts Y/n has a hard time with the war going on in the wizarding world, she almost gets killed and shows up at Remus and Sirius' home. She tells them the truth about Regulus and that Peter is a traitor. Eventually Y/n and Remus are in love again.
Pairing: young!Remus Lupin x fem!reader
Words count: 3k
Tw: Y/n being a bit toxic in the beginning
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Difficult times
The day was supposed to be good. Y/n was going to just 'exist' through all the lessons and then enjoy a date with her boyfriend, Remus. But apparently, the date was canceled.
"I do not always have to be right!" Y/n disclaimed, when Remus accused her of not being able to take being wrong.
It all started with just a discussion about homework. Y/n made a mistake, but she was certain about being right. After all, Remus turned out to be right, but Y/n's pride didn't let her accept it.
"I'm not saying that," Remus argued, "I'm just stating you're pathologically incapable of being wrong."
Being a Black meant that you're a drama queen with anger issues. And this comment angered Y/n so much. Everyone would say she was exaggerating, probably even she knew that, but it wasn't Y/n-like to admit it.
"Well, if that's true, why don't you break up with me?" The girl crossed her arms.
A moment of silence fell between the couple. Y/n was looking straight into her soon-to-be-ex boyfriend's eyes.
"You know what? We should take a break. I love you, but I can't be with you if you don't stop acting like...this."
Y/n smirked, thinking Remus is joking, but after a second she understood he was serious.
"So that's it? This is the end?" The girl asked, not believing or not wanting to believe what has just happened. "We're breaking up over a stupid homework?"
"No. We're breaking up, because being with you is draining. I'm sorry, Y/n, I really am."
"Fine. Go back to my blood traitor of a cousin and his idiot friends." And there she pulled out the pureblood supremacy card. She could swear she wasn't like her family, she had nothing against muggleborns nor half-bloods. If she did, she wouldn't date Remus, not only he was a half-blood but also a werewolf. But when Y/n was angry, she felt as if someone else was taking control of her and she was just watching everything from a third person view.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Days went by and Y/n and Remus didn't seem to be getting back together. Sirius, James and Peter hated Y/n, Remus told them that 'it's all good', but it didn't do much.
One evening Y/n was hanging out with Regulus at the Clock Tower Courtyard. They were playing wizard's chess, but Sirius' sudden arrival interrupted them.
"What're you doing here and where have you lost your goons?" Y/n asked mockingly as Regulus sent Sirius a cold stare.
"I knew you could be a bitch, it runs in the family," Sirius stated, "but I'll never forgive you for hurting Moony."
"I'm not asking for forgiveness. Could you go now, or do I need to hex you?"
After that evening, a little war started between the Marauders and Y/n. Remus tried to stop it or at least calm it down, but the boys didn't want to stop and Y/n didn't even want to talk to Remus.
At some point, Y/n got a boyfriend just to play with Remus' feelings. She was spiteful and wanted him to regret breaking up with her.
Y/n's new boyfriend was Evan Rosier, Regulus' best friend and one of Death Eater wannabes. As soon as other students found out about their relationship, the gossips didn't have an end. Everyone was very much convinced Y/n went dark and was going to eventually get the dark mark. Damn, some people said that she had already got it. Y/n didn't want to neither confirm nor decline any of rumors.
The Marauders often caught Remus looking at Y/n in the Great Hall. They tried to distract him every time, but it was a difficult job. Poor boy just couldn't believe it. Y/n was so sweet, so pure, he loved her. And when they broke up, she turned into a different person. Not only personality-wise but also her appearance was changed. Her y/e/c eyes were once bright, Remus could stare into them for hours. Now, they looked darker and tired, as if they were asking for help.
'Is Evan treating her right?' was a question Moony often asked himself and a question he hoped the answer for would be "yes" and Y/n's tired eyes were an outcome of late night studying. Remus didn't want bad things to happen to Y/n, even if she didn't love him anymore or ever at all.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Months later, Y/n and Remus still weren't even talking. After they graduated from Hogwarts, they went different ways and lost any contact with each other at all.
Everyone's lives were in ruins. Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters were attacking a lot. They wanted to control everything and they would do anything to succeed.
1979 was especially difficult for Y/n. She had nobody. Evan left her. Her parents disowned her once she told them she didn't want to have anything to do with their blood purity views. Regulus went on a mission to destroy a horcrux of Voldemort and died. Y/n spent months crying and she had no one to help her. Voldemort found out she's against him and it was obvious he will kill her. One of her sisters would gladly do it, another one wouldn't stop the first one. The third sister got disowned as well as Y/n, but the girl didn't want to ask Andromeda for help. She had a daughter, Nymphadora, it would be so irresponsible to put the family in danger.
So there she was, by herself, all alone, in a tiny apartment in some area of London. Each day Y/n regretted not apologizing to Remus. Things would be so different, maybe they could even save Regulus with the help of James' parents, like they did with Sirius. Why did Y/n have to be so full of herself? If she just tried to change, she could have a much better life. Anything would be better than hiding in some dark, moldy flat like a damn criminal.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
There wasn't a day when Remus didn't think about Y/n. Where was she? What was she doing? Was she safe? Did she need help? Did she work for Voldemort? He would pay millions of galleons to just know an answer to one of these questions and any amount of money to have her around. To have her here, in a flat he shared with Sirius.
She would be safe there, Remus would protect her. He wished he could protect her from every possible danger. After all these years, he still missed her. Maybe he just had an idealized image of Y/n stuck in his head, but he was so in love with her still.
Remus was happy with his friends around, but there was an empty place in his heart that Y/n would perfectly fit in. Sirius tried to make him start going on dates, but Remus refused. He considered Y/n his first and only love, Sirius couldn't understand it no matter how hard he tried.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
"Hey, could you open the door?" Sirius asked, hearing banging on the door. "It's probably James and Lily."
The newlyweds were supposed to visit Remus and Sirius. Sirius recently found out how much fun it is to cook without using magic and wanted to show off his skills on a dinner.
Remus quickly got up from the sofa in the living room and walked to the door. What, or rather who, he saw when he opened the door, shocked him.
Y/n was standing in the doorway. Her left hand on her stomach, blood on her hoodie and both hands. Her hair was a mess and her face was dirty.
Y/n didn't think she'll see her ex boyfriend that she still had feelings for. She was told to apparate here. Y/n had a mix of many feelings inside her, but had to ignore them for now.
"Are you going to let me in?" She asked harshly.
"Yes, yes." Remus quickly replied and helped the girl walk inside and lay down on the sofa.
She looked tragically, Remus wasn't sure what to do. He pulled up Y/n's hoodie enough to look at the bleeding wound. It wasn't very deep, but it was big and looked, well, serious.
"Sirius, come here!" Remus shouted.
"Hey, the stag family is- what the hell is Y/n doing here?" Sirius asked pretentiously, before he noticed Y/n's injury. When he did, he changed the tone of his voice. "What happened?"
"I'll tell you later! Could someone please stop me from bleeding?" Y/n bellowed.
"Don't you have your wand?"
As a reply, Y/n pulled it out. Well, a half of it. The girl didn't know if she should look for a way to fix it or just go buy a new one, but it wasn't the most important thing right now.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Once Y/n's wound had been taken care of, she sat in the kitchen with the rest, telling them the whole story. Remus had much knowledge about treating injuries, thanks to being a werewolf.
James and Lily were surprised to see Y/n, James even thought she might be sent there on a Death Eater mission.
"I was trying to finish the business Regulus started." Y/n explained, her hands on the table as she fiddled with her fingers.
"Wait, what business?" Sirius asked curiously.
"He found out the Dark Lord made horcruxes, it's an object of your choice that holds a part of your soul, so you can be immortal. To make one, you have to kill someone. We have no idea how many the Dark Lord made, but Regulus found one."
"But my brother is dead. And I've always thought he supported Vold-" He didn't get to finish the sentence, as Y/n stopped him.
"Don't say that name, it has some hex put on it. It locates everyone who says his name."
"Okay, then can you tell us how Regulus died?"
Tears appeared in Y/n's eyes. It's been a few months since he died, the pain of loss was still in Y/n. She was still grieving.
She went through the denial phase, when Kreacher told her everything that happened in the cave. Then anger came, Y/n felt so helpless, so frustrated, she hated herself for not going with Regulus to the damn cave. Then barging, because what if she did go with him? He would be safe and alive. What if she went instead of him? What if she did something so that nobody had to go? They could run away, but then there would be nobody to destroy the horcruxes. Currently, Y/n in the stage of depression, where she barely slept or ate, spending a lot time crying. She's never felt more lonly. The next stage to come was acceptance, but Y/n didn't think she could ever accept Regulus' death. He was like a younger brother to her.
"One of the horcruxes is a locket of Salazar Slytherin, it was hidden in a cave. Reg went there to get it, he was with Kreacher the house elf. When inferi attacked him, he ordered Kreacher to come to me. With the information that Reg wasn't coming home."
Tears were rolling down Y/n's face, which wasn't dirty anymore. After taking care of the wound, Remus helped the girl clean up. He also gave her clean clothes.
"Is the locket still in the cave?" Lily asked, since Sirius was quiet.
Sirius understood his brother was on the good side. Regulus wanted to fight Voldemort, he died trying to kill Voldemort. Regulus died a hero. Sirius would never forgive himself for all the years he spent hating Regulus, insulting him. Regulus did more than Sirius, Remus, James, Peter and Lily and probably the rest of the Order together.
"No, it's not." Y/n reached to her bra, to take the Slytherin's locket out of it. She put it on the table, everyone's eyes were on it. "I tried to destroy it, I went to the woods. Nothing works for it, I tried every spell possible. I even tried hitting it with rocks!"
"But why did you get injured?" Remus asked. He looked at Y/n to see her eyes were also looking at him.
"I said the Dark Lord's name. That's how they found me. Do you know who came to kill me? My very own sister, Bellatrix."
"Your sister wanted to kill you?"
Remus was surprised. He knew from Sirius' stories that Bellatrix was crazy, but he didn't think she would try to kill her own sister. Well, turns out Bella was ready to do anything to get Voldemort's attention.
"Pretty much. She made me fall over, my wand snapped, I was defenceless. She used some spell that gave me the wound on my stomach, then she tortured me with cruciatus. I was lucky though, because McKinnon found us. I was told to apparate to this address while she fought Bellatrix."
Everyone sat in silence thinking about Y/n's story. That was much shock for one day. Lily and James came to eat dinner with Sirius and Remus, but ended up finding very important information. The most shocking thing was that Regulus was actually a good person and he would live if anyone helped him get out of the Voldemort business.
"So, my brother didn't support Vol- You-know-who?" Sirius asked in a whisper.
"No, but do you know who does?" As Y/n said it, all eyes were on her. "Pettigrew. He was on their little meetings, he has the dark mark and all that."
Lily stood up from the table.
"James, let's go, we have to tell someone about it."
Both James and Sirius got up.
"I hate him. I'm going to kill him. This fucking traitor." Sirius cursed and stormed out of the room.
"No, Padfoot," James tried to stop him, "he has to go to prison."
But words were pointless, Sirius didn't stop, he was full of anger. And hatred towards Peter.
Lily and James ran out of the house after Sirius, leaving Y/n alone with Remus.
"I can't believe that." Remus gulped. "He had been a literal rat all this time."
"I'm so sorry." Y/n looked at Remus. She was still so much in love with him.
Everything in her wanted to kiss him, but she didn't know if he still even likes her. What if he found someone else? He didn't seem to be married, but he could have a girlfriend. Or a boyfriend.
"No, I'm sorry. Everyone thought you and Regulus were working for...You-know-who."
"That's not surprising." Y/n chuckled. "At some point we were, I just haven't got my dark mark yet. We had to be close to him to be able to destroy him. Didn't go very well. But I still have a chance."
"We'll help you, the whole Order will help. Do you realize how much important information you gave us?"
"Thank you." The girl smiled, but soon the smile was replaced by a sudden yawn.
"Oh, you should probably have a nap. The bed in my room is pretty comfortable, if you'd..."
"Thanks, the sofa will be enough. I don't want to be a problem."
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Y/n took a nap on the sofa in the living room under the softest and warmest blanket ever. Remus smiled, as he tucked her in. He wasn't in love with an idealized image of Y/n. He was in love with the Y/n in front of him. After hearing what she had been through, he felt like he loved her even more.
Lily, James and Sirius were back by the late evening. It was completely dark outside. The sound of the door being opened woke Y/n up. She felt much better after the nap.
"We told the Order everything," Lily announced, "Dumbledore wants to talk to you, when you feel ready."
"Okay, thank you. What's up with McKinnon? Is she okay? I'd never forgive myself if something happened to her." Y/n asked, hint of worry in her voice.
"Yes, Marlene is all good. She helped capture Bellatrix."
Y/n smiled. Sirius walked up to her and put and hand on her shoulder.
"Thank you for...well, everything. Thank you for helping Reg all this time and-"
"You're welcome." Y/n stopped her cousin from finishing the sentence. She didn't need to cry once again.
Remus looked at the three of his friends. He wanted them to leave the room, so he could talk to Y/n privately. They understood and left the living room.
Y/n was sitting on the sofa, still wrapped in the blanket. Remus sat next to her and assuringly took her hand in his. He was glad she was there.
"So um..." the girl started, "do you live with Sirius alone or does someone else live here? Like, I don't know, maybe someone you're, you're, romantically interested in or..."
Remus chuckled at Y/n's not so secret way of asking if he's single. She was so adorable when nervous.
"Yes, there's this girl I really like. She doesn't live here, but I hope she'll move in soon." Remus announced with a smile on his face.
Y/n's face saddened. She expected Remus to get in a new relationship, she acted like a bitch to him a few years ago, but it was still kind of upsetting.
"Oh, really?" Y/n asked.
"Yes," Remus beamed, "she's very intelligent and very beautiful. And she's sitting on this sofa right now."
Y/n understood Remus was talking about her. A slight smile immediately appeared on her face. Without a word, she kissed him. He kissed her back without hesitation. Sure, their lives were in ruins because of the war, but now that they had each other, sun was shining bright above these ruins.
They knew future will be better. They felt it. They would kill Voldemort, make the world a safe place for them, their friends and their families. Deep down they knew everything that happened was fate and someday they were going to be happy. Together.

___________________________________________________
The halls of Hogwarts were quiet as the seventh years prepared for their upcoming exams. In the middle of academic chaos, Remus Lupin found himself in the library, surrounded by towering shelves of books and the hushed whispers of students engrossed in their studies. He had been helping Y/N with Transfiguration for weeks, patiently explaining complex spells and theories, and he couldn't deny that he found a sense of peace in her company.
Y/N, with her determined eyes and infectious laughter, had grown fond of Remus over the weeks. She found comfort in his presence and couldn't help but notice the subtle ways he made her feel special – a lingering touch on her hand, a genuine smile that reached his tired eyes. She believed there was something more between them, something that transcended the realm of friendship.
As they closed their Transfiguration books one evening, Y/N gathered her courage and decided it was time to share her feelings. The library was quiet, the air thick with anticipation. Clutching a book to her chest, nervously watching Remus as he flipped through the pages of another worn tome. The dim light cast a warm glow, emphasizing the shadows playing on Remus's face. She took a deep breath.
"Hey, Remus," she began, her voice a touch uncertain but determined.
Remus looked up, offering a small smile. "Yes, Y/N? What's on your mind?"
"Well," she hesitated, her cheeks flushing slightly, "there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about."
Remus closed the book in his hands, giving her his full attention. "Go on."
She took another deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "I've enjoyed our time together, studying and all. You've been such a great help, and I really appreciate it. But... it's more than that for me."
Remus furrowed his brow, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. "More than that?"
"Yeah," she admitted, her gaze meeting his. "Remus, I really like you. Not just as a study partner, but, you know, in a different way."
Remus's expression shifted from curiosity to surprise. "Oh."
Y/N nervously fiddled with the edge of her book. "I wanted to be honest with you, and I thought you should know. I've been trying to give you hints, but I guess I'm not very good at it. A-and as cocky as it might sound, I thought that maybe we could go to H-Hogsmeade this weekend?"
Remus, however, looked pained as he gently declined, expressing his apologies. "I'm sorry," he said, "I just don't feel the same way."
Y/N felt the crushing weight of disappointment settle in her chest, but she put on a brave face. "It's okay," she replied, managing a small smile. "I understand."
As soon as she left the library, however, her composure crumbled. Tears flowed freely down her cheeks, and the pain of rejection cut deeper than she expected. Unbeknownst to her, Remus, with his heightened senses just days before the full moon, felt a pang of regret. He wanted to explain, to tell her the truth, but he couldn't bear to burden her with the knowledge of his lycanthropy.
The days that followed Y/N's confession were filled with a peculiar tension. Remus couldn't shake the image of her revelation – her candid admission that she liked him despite the challenges he faced. Yet, as much as he appreciated her honesty, the shadow of his own insecurities lingered.
Meanwhile, Y/N navigated the awkwardness with a newfound determination. A month had passed since her confession and heartbreak and she still avoided Remus at all costs. She chose to spend her time with other boys, not out of spite but as a way to cope with the lingering disappointment from the rejection. Remus, however, couldn't help but notice her newfound companions, and the bitterness within him began to fester.
The Great Hall became a silent battleground of unspoken emotions. Remus watched from afar as Y/N sat with different boys, sharing laughter and engaging in conversations that felt like needles piercing through his already wounded heart. Each friendly interaction felt like a dagger, stirring a mix of jealousy, regret, and an inexplicable rage within him.
The days leading up to this confrontation had not been easy for Remus. James, Sirius, and Peter had noticed his increasingly moody demeanor. They cornered him one evening in the Gryffindor common room.
"Moony, mate, what's got you so broody?" Sirius asked with a mischievous grin, attempting to lighten the atmosphere.
Remus sighed, his eyes flickering towards the direction where Y/N was sitting with a couple of boys, laughing. "It's nothing. Just tired from all the studying."
James raised an eyebrow, exchanging a knowing glance with Sirius. "Come on, Remus. We know you better than that. Spill."
Remus hesitated, glancing back at Y/N. "It's personal. Let's leave it at that."
Sirius nudged him playfully. "Come on, Remus, we're your mates. You can talk to us about anything."
But Remus remained tight-lipped, keeping the true reason for his turmoil locked away. As they left him to his thoughts, he couldn't help but feel a sense of isolation, knowing that his friends were unaware of the storm raging within him.
The next day at dinner, Remus found it particularly difficult to concentrate on his food. His eyes kept drifting toward Y/N, who was engaged in animated conversation with a couple of boys from their year. The laughter that echoed in the Great Hall felt like a sharp contrast to the heaviness he carried. Remus's fingers tightened around his fork, and he couldn't bring himself to eat.
James leaned in, nudging Remus with a smirk. "Jealous, are we, Moody Moony?"
Remus shot him a glare. "I'm not jealous. Just preoccupied."
But the Marauders weren't convinced. They exchanged glances, whispering among themselves about Remus's strange behavior.
The sight of Y/N with different boys became a recurring theme. Remus couldn't escape the nagging feeling that he was losing her--not to someone else but to the walls he had built around himself.
One night, fueled by a mix of frustration and desperation, Remus caught up with Y/N in the hallway. His steps quickened until he cornered her, and his words spilled out like a torrent.
"What's going on, Y/N?" he demanded, his voice laced with frustration and a tinge of hurt.
She met his gaze, her eyes flashing with a mix of anger and hurt. "What are you on about?"
Remus couldn't contain himself any longer. "I can't stand seeing you with those other guys. It's driving me mad."
"Why?" she snapped, her tone sharp. "You made it clear you're not interested."
"There's a reason I said no," Remus admitted, his guard slowly breaking down.
"Is it because you're a werewolf?" she blurted out, the words hanging in the air.
Remus was taken aback but nodded reluctantly. "How did you know?" he asked softly.
Y/N scoffed. "I might be complete and utter arse at Transfiguration, but I'm not a daft git. You would go missing once a month and came back looking like you went off to war."
Remus stayed silent, letting her words digest.
"Is that all?" she fired back, surprising him. "Remus, I wouldn't care about that! I care about you."
Remus couldn't believe what he was hearing. Y/N's blunt response left him speechless. He searched her eyes for any sign of deception, but all he found was a genuine concern and care that he hadn't expected.
"You really mean that?" he asked, his voice a mixture of surprise and hope.
She nodded, her expression softening. "Yes, Remus. I mean it. I care about you."
A weight lifted from Remus's shoulders, replaced by an overwhelming sense of relief. "I never thought… I didn't want to burden you. I thought it was better if you didn't get involved."
Y/N stepped closer, her eyes locked onto his. "Remus, let me decide what's better for me. Don't shut me out because of assumptions."
He took a deep breath, the truth hanging heavy in the air. "I appreciate your honesty, Y/N. I've been a fool."
She smiled gently. "We all make mistakes. The important thing is learning from them."
Remus nodded, gratitude filling his eyes. "I promise, I'll be more open with you. No more hiding."
She reached out, placing a reassuring hand on his arm. "That's all I ask, Remus. I want to get to know all of you."
He chuckled softly, a warmth spreading through him. "And I want to get to know all of you too, Y/N. I've been a sorry sod for pushing you away."
The tension that had gripped them began to dissolve, replaced by a newfound understanding. Remus's gaze softened as he looked at her, a mixture of regret and gratitude in his eyes.
Y/N smiled, breaking the silence. "So, are you free this weekend? How about we go to Hogsmeade together?"
Remus's eyes lit up with surprise and delight. "I'd like that, Y/N. Let's start over, shall we?"
She nodded, a playful glint in her eyes. "Fresh start it is, Remus. And this time, no more assumptions."
They walked down the corridor together, the weight of the past lifting off their shoulders. The prospect of a new beginning, filled with honesty and understanding, stretched out before them. Remus couldn't help but feel grateful for Y/N's straightforwardness, and he silently promised himself to make it up to her. Until then, squeezing her hand in his would have to do.

soft like wildflowers // r.l.
summary — y/n y/l/n is stubborn, competitive, and hates remus lupin. but when they’re paired together for a project, y/n begins to fall for the softness within him.
word count — 3.1k
warnings — cursing, slight enemies to loverss. otherwise ultimate fluff.
Y/N stuck like glue to Lily’s side as they headed towards potions class. She had interlocked their arms together, using Lily as a guide to walk down the corridor, keeping her from bumping into students so she could finish the previous night’s reading that she hadn’t gotten done. Lily huffed beside her, growing frustrated as she tried to maneuver through the crowd of students for not only herself, but Y/N as well.
“I told you you could borrow my notes,” She turned to say to Y/N, lightly scoffing when the girl didn’t look up, “Or I can paraphrase it for you?”
“Lils you know I won’t get it unless I read it myself,” Y/N mumbled, huffing to herself as she flipped to the next page, “Plus, how do I know you even retained any information, you were gazing at Potter the entire night.”
Lily nudged her elbow into Y/N’s side.
“Hey!” Y/N huffed.
“I tell you one time I think he’s cute and you use any opportunity you can to use it against me.” Lily scoffed.
Y/N chuckled, biting her lip to contain an obnoxious smile at the sight of a pink tint rising to Lily’s pale cheeks at the mention of James Potter’s name.
“Alright, alright, I’m sorry,” Y/N laughed softly, earning a gentle smile from Lily beside her as they entered Slughorn’s classroom and took their seats, “Thank you for letting me follow you while I finished the reading.”
Lily shook her head playfully, “I don’t even know why you stress over the reading. It’s not like you really need to do it, you’re wicked good at potions, at all your classes, really.”
“Not as good as some people.” Y/N hummed, annoyed.
In perfect timing, the four most insufferable boys Y/N had ever met filed into the classroom one by one. James Potter was a bit of an arse, but he adored Lily and for that Y/N pardoned him. Peter Pettigrew, wasn’t relevant enough to procure an opinion from Y/N, especially considering half the time he was hiding behind James. Sirius Black was wildly inappropriate yet charmingly reckless, Y/N hated him the least.
But it was Remus Lupin, the smartest and most reserved of the four, that Y/N had decided was her very own personal nemesis. Remus Lupin was an excellent student, he was smart, attentive, hardworking, the professors adored him despite his friendship with troublemakers James and Sirius. Y/N however, couldn’t comprehend the idea that he was incredibly sweet and smart, one of those had to be false, and grades don’t lie.
Y/N cleared her throat as the boys entered, all piling into the tables at the back of the class, snickering to themselves as the tail of a joke died down. James shot Lily a smile, nodding his head towards her, only for her to shake her head in response and face the front of the class. Sirius snorted, patting James on the back.
“Alright, class,” Slughorn grabbed the attention of his students, “Today we’ll be pairing off for a larger assignment. It is up to you and your partner to procure the ingredients needed for your potion…”
“I hope we get paired,” Y/N whispered to Lily beside, who nodded in response, “I’d hate to have to spend all night in the library with Black or Potter, might as well do it all my bloody self.”
Slughorn continued on as a piece of white chalk recorded the assignment requirements onto the chalk board behind him as he spoke. Everyone seemed to tune out, growing anxious with thoughts of who they’d be paired with for such a large assignment.
Y/N fumbled with the end of her tie, absentmindedly pulling at a loose string in her robe when she heard Slughorn call out her name.
“Y/N, you will be working with Remus.”
Her brows furrowed instinctively, of course she was paired with the one student she couldn’t stand above all else. She grew frustrated at the thought of having to sit and work with him, choking back snarky comments as he boasted on about the perfection of his work.
As she turned back to look at him, Remus gave her a shy, tight lipped smile, and Y/N huffed aloud, turning back around in her seat and rolling her eyes.
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
She trudged into the library that afternoon, a load of potions books in her hands and a quill tucked behind her ear. She wasn’t surprised to see Remus hadn’t arrived yet, thinking he was probably off somewhere with his friends knowing he was wasting her time. She shook her head and dropped her books, ignoring the heads turning as her books fell with a loud thud onto the table.
She took a seat and began organizing her work space, opening her books to the pages she needed and pulling out a sheet of fresh parchment to begin taking some notes. Remus Lupin was an excellent student, but it wouldn’t surprise her one bit if she had to do this entire assignment on her own.
She prepared for the worst, but within three minutes since she sat down Remus came strolling in with his own identical copies of the books she had already laid out, and a couple fresh sheets of parchment, along with his quill and ink.
Her lips pursed as he arrived with a reserved demeanor, keeping his long arms close to his lanky body, his head lowered as he eyed the notes she had already begun taking. He only sat when she extended a hand to the chair in front of her.
“You’re late.” She spoke softly but sharply, not raising her eyes from her quill as she finished copying the note he had interrupted.
Remus chuckled softly, before quickly clearing his throat at the glare she shot him.
“My apologies.” He was glad she didn’t look up at him again as the corner of his mouth twitched upward in a smile.
The two of them worked in silence for half an hour. Remus assumed Y/N only wanted to work together when absolutely necessary, and he was right. Y/N sat quietly, scribbling down her notes she needed for the potion, only glancing up to view Remus’ notes a few times, what he assumed was her making sure he was doing his work correctly.
It was all rather amusing to Remus. He knew well that the feisty girl before him had a temper and a bad opinion towards him. He wasn’t ever sure why, he assumed she hated the marauders in general, for their “inappropriate” and “childish” behavior, but then again, Remus never missed the flash of anger behind her eyes when he received a higher grade than her. She was competitive, and it made admiring her from afar that much more interesting.
“You know, I’m sure we could get this finished a lot faster if you actually spoke to me.”
Y/N’s quill paused, but she didn’t look up, all it took was a simple lip bite to withhold the words fighting in her throat before she had composed herself and continued writing.
Remus cleared his throat, “The sooner you talk to me, the sooner we can get this assignment finished and you never have to speak to me again.”
She dropped her quill and looked up to Remus for the first time that entire afternoon. She narrowed her eyes as she searched his demeanor, but all she was met with were innocence in his hazel eyes. And the sharpness inside her dismissed it as deceiving but when she looked again she felt it was pure.
“Fine.” She huffed, before picking up her quill again.
Remus’ lips parted in a small smile as his eyes traced the outline of her face. Even with her jaw clenched and her brow raised, she was stunning. He bit his lip as his smile grew, trying to contain a laugh at her behavior.
“Something funny?” She raised her brows, her stare drilling holes in his head from its intensity.
“No,” Remus quickly shook his head, “Nothing at all. Just ready to learn about potions...”
As the corner of his mouth fought to retain his smile Y/N’s brows relaxed, and she shook her head dismissively.
“Whatever you say, Lupin.”
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
The second night they worked together in the library, Y/N arrived to see Remus already waiting for her at their table. She narrowed her eyes curiously, inching slowly towards the table as she took her time observing Remus mirroring her exact position the day before; books spread out neatly on the table, his books, parchment clean and quill drawn.
She slowly took a seat, cautious of his sudden motivating work ethic. Remus sat still as she prepared her work space, his expression was blank until she cleared her throat once she was done.
“You’re late.” Remus quipped.
He sat with a smirk, despite being fully prepared to have his ass handed to him by the girl before him. But she quirked a brow, unable to hide her own smirk as she dropped her gaze and shook her head humorously.
“My apologies, Lupin.” She responded, biting her lip to contain her sly smile.
The pair began their work, running over where to get their ingredients and how to prepare them properly for the potion. They bickered over whether or not to cut or grind, but it didn’t go over Remus’ head the humor in Y/N’s tone as she teasingly argued, a sharp contrast to the normal bitterness in her tone anytime she spoke to him.
He couldn’t help but feel stunned, to think he of all people had cracked her harsh demeanor. To think he, the one she couldn’t stand above all else purely for his outstanding academic status, was the one to take her mind off of the work and open up a new part of her.
“Fine! We’ll cut, not grind,” Y/N’s chuckle quieted, “But when it doesn’t come out correctly, you’ll be the one to blame.”
Remus smirked, settling back into his chair comfortably, amused by the sudden light airiness to her attitude.
“Really?” He tilted his head, “You’d risk our grade just to prove me wrong?”
Y/N leaned over the table, a smirk rising on her lips, “I’d do anything to prove you wrong, Remus.”
And as she leaned back with a quiet giggle falling from her lips, Remus sat in shock, for it was the first time she had ever referred to him by his first name.
“That’s quite a promise, Y/N,” Remus raised his brows, “I look forward to seeing that play out.”
Y/N snorted, “As long as you keep making mistakes, I’ll always be able to prove you wrong.”
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––-
On the third night of their studying, they had stayed extra late in the library, perfecting their assignment before it was due the next day. Being two of the top students, it was well known by all that they would receive a good grade, but apparently the night-before stress was getting to Y/N as she insisted the two of them go over every step to make sure there were no mistakes.
But as the hours passed, it was growing darker in the library as the moon rose and the sky darkened. Remus was copying down a few notes to remember while making the potion, going over each step to ensure they received a good grade; no matter how much they bickered, Remus had grown soft for Y/N, and while good grades were something that came naturally to him, he wanted to ensure he did everything right, for Y/N.
As he looked up he noticed the very girl before him, only minutes before she had been indulged in the passage of a book for their assignment, but as he saw her now, her head slumped as her chin rested in her palm, her eyelids growing heavier by the minute.
Remus smiled softly, the tired look on her face only illuminating her cutest features. A few strands of hair fell in front of her face, lightly tangling in her lashes which fluttered closed with her eyes.
“Y/N.” Remus spoke up quietly, trying to gain the girl’s attention.
No response, she was practically asleep at this point. Remus chuckled softly, shuffling in his chair to lean over and gently grab her forearm.
“Y/N.” He spoke slightly louder this time.
“Hmm?” The girl stirred awake, tired eyes opening as a yawn immediately escaped from her lips.
Remus bit his lower lip to contain the wide smile that threatened to escape. Her squinted eyes scanned the table before her, as pieces of her memory reappeared after being long gone from her slumber. She blinked a few times, trying to wake herself up as she noticed the rest of their project had yet to be finished.
“Shit.” She mumbled, rubbing her eyes as she went to grab her quill.
“Hey,” Remus reached out to stop her, gently holding her wrist and unknowingly causing her breath to hitch at his touch.
She looked up to him, eyes glossy with tiredness, but as they connected with Remus’, whose eyes were soft and inviting, she obliged and dropped the quill from her fingertips.
“Don’t worry, I’ll finish it, let’s get you to bed.” Remus began, standing from his chair and gathering their books and parchment.
“Remus,” She shook her head, “You don’t have to–”
“It’s alright, love,” He interrupted her, reaching forward he delicately held her chin between his thumb and forefinger, “You’re exhausted, the least I can do is get you to bed.”
Everything in her mind told her to protest, push through and finish the project, but she felt the weight of slumber tugging at her eyelids, and the comfort in Remus’ gaze only drew her in further.
“Okay.” She nodded softly.
Remus was quick to gather their things, placing all her things neatly in her back before doing his own. He carried both bags on his shoulders, ignoring Y/N’s sleepy protests stating she could carry her own bag. He shook his head playfully and held his hand out to her for her to take before he led them back towards the common room.
She followed him quietly through the corridor, staying close by his side with their hands intertwined. She felt a familiar flutter in her stomach as his thumb ran softly over her hand. Biting her lip, she suppressed a smile like he had only moments ago.
When they finally arrived back in the common room, she aimed quickly for the couch, falling instantly on the soft cushions for a moment of comfort.
Remus laughed, “Come on, darling, think you can make it to your dorm?”
She shook her head, “Too many stairs.”
Remus chuckled again, “Am I going to have to carry you?”
“You take me off this couch I might just gain enough energy to punch you, Lupin.” She snorted.
Remus playfully shook his head, “We’re back to last names now?”
She smiled, her eyes still closed, and Remus swore he could hear his heartbeat pounding through his chest at the sight of her. He always thought she was beautiful, but he hadn’t seen her be so, her.
She giggled softly as her eyes fluttered open to see Remus looking down at her. He had a playful glint in his eyes, but his lips had softened to a grin. She sat up slowly, ultimately closing the space between the two of them, leaving mere inches between their faces.
“Why’re you laughing?” Remus chuckled softly, his eyes couldn’t help but fall to her lips as another giggle surpassed them.
“Why’re you looking at me like that?” She replied, her brow raised.
Remus tilted his head, “I asked you first.”
She rolled her eyes playfully, suddenly feeling her heart rate rise as she noticed the close proximity between the two of them. Remus was the most beautiful person she’d ever seen, with soft, sandy brown hair and dazzling hazel eyes. He looked at her with such intent, like he held on to every word she said.
“Because you made me laugh, you dork.” She shook her head.
Remus chuckled, “I’m not doing anything.”
“You’re looking at me like that.” She persisted.
“Like what?” Remus raised his brows, playing dumb as he continued to stare at the girl in awe.
She bit her lip to contain her next giggle, knowing it would only add the fuel to his bit. She shook her head, letting her gaze fall to her lap as a soft smile settled on her lips.
Remus felt as if the air were stripped from his lungs. She had never been so bare before him, so comfortably her. He was grateful for the bloody potions assignment, as it gave him the opportunity to see her in a light she only showed to her closest companions. And as a blush rose to his cheeks, he hoped he could be more.
“Y/N.” He muttered softly, grabbing her attention.
He swallowed as she looked up at him, his breath hitching as they made eye contact. Slowly, his hand rose to cup her cheek, softly and delicately he moved, as if to test the waters. But when she didn’t pull away, he continued.
He leaned in slowly, his lips ghosting over hers. Her breath tickled his skin, sending waves through his nerves, paralyzing his body in her presence.
“Can I?” He whispered.
She inhaled softly, a hint of a precious smile rising to her lips, and she nodded.
Remus connected their lips at last, feeling a spark in his chest the moment he felt her soft lips on his. He moved slowly, carefully observing her every move to ensure she wanted this just as much as he did. She breathed him in slowly, her hands traveled up to brush through the ends of his hair.
He shuffled closer to her then, moving his lips against hers at a quicker pace, anticipating each moment. He smiled momentarily, pausing the kiss to run his thumb over her cheekbone and earning her own smile in return. He indulged in her once more, peppering kisses to her lips over and over until she tugged at the ends of his hair, and he stilled, softly swiping his tongue over her bottom lip until she pulled away breathless.
“I was wrong about you, Remus, ‘M sorry I never gave you the proper chance.” She chuckled, leaning in softly to kiss his lips once again.
Remus’ eyes fluttered closed at her touch, “Not to worry, love, it was worth the wait.”

"Your BIG Purchase is on the Way!"
A modern AU based on the prompt "Your BIG Purchase is on the Way!"
Also, I literally wrote this three years ago, but is it doing any justice sitting in my notes?? No. Not my greatest (three years ago!) but whatever. Who cares! Enjoy!
read part two here!
--
“Hey Remus, would you like to see that new movie in theaters tonight?” I asked. Remus put down the book he was reading and looked at me.
“What movie is it?” He inquired. I shrugged.
“Some sci-fi movie,” Remus placed a bookmark in his book, and placed the book down on the coffee table in front of the couch. “It’s not terrible, from what the reviews are saying. And if you don’t like it, we can always leave before it finishes.” I suggest.
“Alright, I’ll order the tickets online.” Remus pushed my feet that were currently on his lap off, and stood up. He walked over to the kitchen counter to grab his phone, presumingly ordering the tickets off of there. “Is 6:30 okay?” He asked. I nodded.
“Done. I’m going to get my jacket and wallet,” he came over and gave me his phone. “Do you want to get the tickets pulled up?”
“Sure.” He walked away to our room, and I was left with his phone in my hands. I quickly opened the mail app to find the email with the tickets. They weren’t there yet, so I refreshed and refreshed until the email popped up. But then, something stopped me in my tracks. A few emails down read
Your BIG Purchase is on the way!
My eyebrows furrowed. What the hell could Remus have bought, I wondered. He’s not the one to order an Xbox or something that expensive without telling me. Biting my lip, I opened it up and my eyes widened.
Congratulations Remus! Here is the current standing of your order from:
Aurora’s Gleam
483 Washington Blvd
-Standard Order-
4560435 AMETHYST RING $900
4560457 SIZE J
Your order is estimated to arrive in 3-4 weeks!
The phone dropped from my hand before I could finish the email. Oh my god. Oh my GOD. Remus bought a ring?? Oh my god, he bought a ring, what am I gonna-
“Hey sweetheart, are you- hey, what’s wrong?” Remus stopped buttoning his jacket and came rushing over to me. He dropped to his knees, grabbing my arm, and I frowned at him.
“Remus…is there any reason you gave me your phone?”
“Only to pull up the tickets. Why, is something wrong?” This time his eyebrows furrowed.
“Remus have you happened to buy anything recently that you wouldn’t want me seeing?” His eyes went wide.
“Oh shit.” He rubbed his chin.
“Oh shit is right,” I responded. Then I grinned. “I’m so excited!!” Remus’ shoulders visibly sagged.
“Oh my god I ruined it for you. I’m so sorry, I had this elaborate plan-“ I shushed him.
“Just because I know about the ring doesn’t mean I have to know everything!” I raised an eyebrow. He smiled sheepishly.
“Yea, I guess not. I am sorry though, I wasn’t even thinking.” Then he full on grinned. “I’m excited too though.”
“Now you can’t keep me waiting since I know. Ohhh it’s gonna look so good!” I stick my hand out and examine it, ringless, imagining the ring he bought. Remus chuckles.
“C’mon, we’re gonna miss the movie.” I sit up and give him a shit-eating grin.
“I’m literally not going to be able to shut up about this.” He sighs and smiles.
"There are worst things we could be talking about, I guess."

Young!Remus Lupin x Reader-The Valentines Day Dance
My second drabble for my Valentines Daty writing challenge!
This one was requested by my dear friend @xacatalepsyx with the prompt "Will you be my valentine?"
I hope you all enjoy this!💛
Remus was pacing the common room, his anxiety building with every minute that passed him by.
This was a horrible idea.
The worst.
If he left now, he’d be out of the common room before Y/n arrived; he could save both of them the embarrassment.
But then he’d have to deal with his friends; James, Sirius and Peter.
However dealing with those three seemed more appealing than staying here, waiting nervously for Y/n's arrival.
He liked Y/n. As a lot more than just a friend.
That’s why his friends persuaded him to ask her to the Valentines Day Dance.
A dance that was based on the Muggle tradition, Valentines Day.
But the dance was tomorrow and all Remus could think about was that he was too late.
Y/n was beautiful, inside and out, so it certainly wouldn’t surprise him if someone else had already asked her.
That’s why he didn’t want to ask her; the fear of admitting his feelings to her only to have them rejected turned his insides upside down.
He didn’t want to ruin their friendship.
Eventhough James, Sirius and Peter had assured him that wouldn’t happen, the thought still lingered in his mind.
“Rem?” Y/n asked, knocking Remus out of his thoughts and making his movements come to a sudden halt.
It was too late to run away now.
“Are you okay?”
Remus simply nodded, ignoring the questionable look that was filling Y/n's eyes, casting his gaze down at his feet.
“Remus? If somethings wrong you can tell me,” she said, her voice soft but full of concern.
“I-I…” Remus stuttered out, as his eyes met Y/ns.
He took a deep breath in, trying desperately to get a hold of his nerves.
He could lie, or just make a run for it. But the longer he looked at Y/n, the more he just wanted to admit to her how he truly felt.
“Will you be my valentine?” The question slipped so quickly from his mouth; at first he wasn’t even sure he’d said them, until he saw a look in Y/n's eyes.
Shit.
He’d messed up.
This was going to be the end of their friendship.
He mentally prepared himself for the words of rejection that were about to come, but those words never came.
“I was wondering when you’d ask,” she softly chuckled, a gorgeous smile growing on her face.
“What?”
The shock was evident in Remus’ voice.
“Of course I’ll be your valentine, Rem,” she beamed; wrapping her arms around the back of his neck. Instinctively, Remus wrapped his arms around Y/n's waist, pulling her closer to him.
He thought this was a dream.
That was until Y/n's lips were on his; she was kissing him and after a few seconds he was kissing her back.
“I’ve waited so long to do that,” she whispered against his lips.
“So have I,” he breathed, before closing the distance between them once again.

The Last Dream of my Soul pt. 5 (R.L.)
Hello!!! The newest part has arrived and i hope you all enjoy it! Also. I am aware that hippogriffs are a third year lesson but pleaseeeee just pretend it makes sense...
Pairing: Remus Lupin x Reader
Summary: The very bookish (Y/n) has spent most of her life alone, aside from her best friends Lily and her beloved books. But when the infamous Marauders get thrust into her life, how could she resist the beautiful and unattainable Remus.
Warnings: Angst
Word Count: 2.2k
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
The two weeks at home were rough. As excited as you were to return to the place that you grew up, you soon came to the realization that Hogwarts and the wizarding world were your true home. As much as you loved your parents and the creaky floor of your old bedroom, you couldn’t help but feel entirely out of place. And as much as your parents loved you, they could never understand you.
But still, you enjoyed Christmas dinner and watching your old favorite shows on the television. Despite this though, you were near tears every night when you thought of your friends and the old castle walls of your school. You missed them immensely.
You were at a great disadvantage as you did not own an owl. Luckily, your friends sent plenty of letters, and you held their birds hostage until you could scribble out a response.
You received the most letters from Lily. She related to your feelings of feeling out of place in the muggle world. It was made worse for her by her sister, Petunia. Petunia was jealous of Lily to a near disturbing extent. It made your best friend’s time at home miserable.
You received one letter from Peter on Christmas. It was a simple letter that mostly just wished you a happy holiday, but nevertheless, it made you smile.
From Sirius and James, you received joint letters as they were both staying at the Potter’s house for Christmas. The letters detailed all of the mischief they got up to and they never failed to make you laugh. You’d always send back a letter reprimanding them but also subtly egging them on.
Remus’s letters were your favorite. He wrote to you relatively often, describing his family and what he was reading. You did the same, raving about the book that he had gifted you. You loved the way he wrote his letters. It was almost like poetry. You weren’t surprised though. How could someone spend their whole life reading and not have a way with words?
But despite the comfort that the letters brought you, you couldn’t help but wish that the words could be spoken in person instead.
But soon enough the time came for you to return to your real home and greet your chosen family. In a flurry of brotherly hugs and high pitched squeals, you said hello to Lily and the marauders with a grin stretched ear to ear.
As excited as you were to return to Hogwarts, the return to lessons was less exciting. Soon, you were once again drowning in school work and waiting for a chance to breathe. Classes were beginning to pick up and become more challenging, and you were doing your best to scrape by.
“Hey (Y/n),” Sirius said, catching your attention as you walked to your care for magical creatures class.
“Yes, Sirius?” you inquired.
“Have you finished the transfiguration essay yet?” he asked. You smirked at him.
“Are you asking because you’re curious or because you want to copy it?” you asked teasingly. Sirius groaned.
“Oh sod off (Y/n),” he retorted, shoving your shoulder. You yelped as he d pushedyou a tad too hard and braced yourself, preparing to hit the ground. Instead, you felt strong hands grab your arm.
“You okay?” Remus asked as he helped you steady yourself.
“Yeah I’m fine,” you said breathlessly, your arm burning from his touch. You sent the concerned boy a quick smile before turning to face Sirius. You punched him quickly in the shoulder.
“Ow!” he exclaimed, rubbing his arm.
“That’s what you get for assaulting me,” you retorted and you heard Remus chuckle from your left.
“Yeah yeah I’m sorry,” Sirius said, waving his hands in the air. You smiled, satisfied, and skipped the rest of the way to class.
When you arrived at the forbidden forest Professor Kettleburn stopped the group at the edge of the woods.
“Now students, we have a very special lesson today,” he explained to your peers. You danced on your toes in excitement. You loved care for magical creatures, enough to take it in your N.E.W.T.S years, and you were excited at the prospect of an exciting lesson. Sirius shifted impatiently on his toes, having only taken the course for an easy E, while Remus smiled at your antics.
“Today we will be in the presence of one of our realms' most compelling creatures,” Professor Kettleburn continued mysteriously. A smile spread its way across your face as you waited for him to reveal the creature. Professor Kettleburn led his herd of students into the forest, pausing a few paces in. He pushed back a branch of a large, sweeping tree, to reveal a herd of creatures. You felt your mouth drop open in astonishment. You turned to Remus, a wide smile adorning our features.
“Hippogriffs,” you whispered excitedly. Remus smiled at you, nodding in affirmation.
Professor Kettleburn walked to stand before the class.
“The hippogriff is an incredibly unique creature. Its front half bears the resemblance of an eagle, while it’s back half is one of a horse. The hippogriff’s closest relative is the griff, a creature that is half lion and half horse. The Hippogriff is also an especially proud creature. Can anyone tell me the proper etiquette for greeting such an animal?” the professor asked. You did not hesitate to shoot your hand into the air.
“Yes, Miss (L/n),” he said, calling on you.
“When approaching a hippogriff, the proper thing to do is to bow and wait for the hippogriff to do the same. You wait for the creature to approach you, and you must maintain eye contact,” you explained, almost reciting the textbook exactly.
“Very good,” the professor replied with a smile. Professor Kettleburn rambled on for a few more minutes, describing the deity habits and the ideal habitats for hippogriffs. You excitedly listened to him, soaking up every bit of knowledge that you could. You could hear some boys in your year laughing, mocking your professor’s eccentric habits, and you turned to glare at them. The group’s ringleader, Rodolphus Lestrange, turned and glared back at you, sending you an unflattering gesture.
Eventually, Professor Kettleburn clapped his hands together and stopped talking.
“Now,” he began, “who would like to be the first to greet the hippogriff?” Your hand immediately went up, waving back and forth through the air. You heard Sirius and Remus laugh at your behavior from either side of you.
“Okay Miss (L/n), please step forward,” the professor said as he motioned you towards him. He gave you a quick rundown of how you were to approach the creature, before sending you off with a quick pat on the shoulder.
You approached the creature and admired its beauty. It's gorgeous storm grey coat glistened under the late afternoon sun and its eyes were a brilliant shade of orange. You stopped about six feet in front of the creature before bowing, maintaining strong eye contact the entire time. After a beat, the hippogriff bowed as well. You smiled widely as you stood, awestruck by the creature before you. You stepped forward with your hand outstretched.
“Hello, you beautiful creature,” you spoke softly. The hippogriff leaned towards your hand before nuzzling his beak into it. You caressed his beak and gently carded your hands through its feathers. After a few minutes, Professor Kettleburn ushered you back. You reluctantly bowed to the creature before scurrying back to your friends.
When you returned, Sirius patted you on the back.
“Good job (Y/n). I would’ve been scared the thing was going to rip me to shreds,” he said. You shook your head at him.
“Oh come on, it’s a gentle creature,” you said. Remus grimaced from beside you.
“Yeah but one wrong move and it tears you to shreds,” he said quietly. You roll your eyes.
“Don’t you think that’s a bit of an overreaction?” you asked. Remus opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by the professor.
“Now who else would like to greet our friend?” he asked the class. Before anyone could respond, Rodolphus strutted up the front. The professor leaned over to go over the proper etiquette, but Rodolphus just waved him off. You frowned.
“This is not going to end well,” you mumbled to yourself. Rodolphus swaggered up to the hippogriff, giving him a shallow bow. The hippogriff hesitated but eventually bowed in return. Rodolphus walked up to the creature, his first mistake, and immediately reached in to touch it. The hippogriff flinched, which caused Roldophus to say something to him. You could not quite make out what he said, but it angered the hippogriff. He reared his head and lunged towards the boy. The students around you began to scream and run away. Professor Kettleburn lunged forward, trying to get the student out of the hippogriff’s path. Remus grabbed your arm, attempting to pull you away, but you broke free from his grasp and headed in the opposite direction. You heard him shout after you as you ran towards the creature but you ignored him. Professor Kettleburn was attempting to keep the creature at bay while Rodolphus tried to crawl away. You approached the creature and tried to get its attention.
“Don’t waste your energy on him,” you shouted at the animal. It paid you no mind.
“You’re a magnificent creature! You have no business having to deal with someone like him!” you shouted. “You’re too good for him!”
After hearing the compliment, the hippogriff turned towards you. His orange eyes still glinted with aggression and his body was tense. Rodolphus got up and sprinted away. You quickly bowed, trying to appease the creature. It huffed and shook off Professor Kettleburn’s hand. You stayed in the same position, maintaining eye contact with the creature. You silently pleaded with it to calm down. Eventually, the hippogriff lowered its head in return, the aggression leaving its eyes. You waited for him to approach you before tentatively touching his beak. The air was thick with anticipation as your peers watched you, all of them scared for your safety. After a beat, the creature nuzzled into your hand, causing you to let out a sigh of relief. Professor Kettleburn came up behind you and placed a hand on your shoulder. He ushered you back towards the other students, before dismissing class for the day.
“Okay children, that’s enough excitement for today. Feel free to head back to your dorms,” he stated, shooing you all with his hands.
You pushed through the crowd towards your friends. You were immediately wrapped into a strong hug. Sirius released you after a moment, a wide smile across his face.
“Godric you scared me half to death!” he exclaimed. “But that was wicked!” You smiled at his words. You turned towards Remus, hoping to see him smiling as well. But when he came into view, he looked the opposite of happy. His face was hard and cold and his arms were crossed stiffly over his chest.
“Remus what’s wrong-”
“How could you be so stupid,” he asked angrily, cutting you off in the process. You blinked at him, confused.
“What are you talking about?” you asked softly.
“Do you not realize what you just did? You approached that- that monster! And you practically begged him to attack you!” he yelled. You flinched at his words.
“He’s not a monster,” you responded, your voice wavering. Remus frustratedly ran his hands through his hair.
“Yes he is! Yes he is (Y/n)! But just can’t see it,” he exclaimed. Confusion filled your features.
“Remus I-”
“No. You do not get to speak. You can’t just go around and expect things like that- monsters- to not hurt you,” he yelled. Your face hardened.
“Remus I am perfectly capable of handling myself!” you yell back, anger coursing through your veins.
“No, you’re not! You’re too naive,” he responded angrily.
“I am not naive and you do not get to talk to me like I’m a child,” you yelled back. Remus just shook his head.
“One day, you’re going to try and tame the wrong creature and you’re going to get hurt. You don’t understand these things,” he said, quieter than before. He takes one last look at you before turning on his heel and storming off towards the castle.
You watch him leave, tears forming in your eyes. Your anger had dissipated, leaving only sadness and confusion in its wake. Remus had never spoken to you like that before. He had always been soft and sweet, the opposite of the man who had just screamed at you. You turn towards Sirius, who’s shocked expression matched yours.
“What was that all about?” you asked Sirius, who was avoiding your eyes. He sighed.
“Remus is going through some things right now,” was his only response. You scoffed through your tears.
“And how does that give him the right to speak to me like that?” you countered. Sirius kicked a pebble on the ground.
“It doesn’t. But just give him time,” was his reply. You shook your head, begging the tears to stay at bay. You quickly turned and stalked back to the castle.

Leaving - Part 1 (Remus Lupin x Potter!reader)
Reader is James Potter's sister.
This is my first time posting any of my writings. It is not the best, but I just wanted to get it out there :)
Warnings: mentions of loss/death, crying
Part 2
Hogsmeade was finally beginning to feel like it had before the war. You had decided to travel to the shops while Remus stayed in your shared cottage on the outskirts of the village. You had some errands to run and you needed something to distract yourself.
It had been a little over a year since Voldemort had disappeared you lost your brother and many close friends to both death and betrayal. You were trying your best to keep moving forward. You had been fighting for custody over Harry since the war had ended. You and Sirius had been his godparents and you were trying desperately to fulfill one of James and Lilly's last wishes but the ministry hadn't budged since Dumbledore sent Harry off with Lilly's horrible muggle sister.
Your main stop was Dogweed and Deathcap to restock on some potions ingredients. On your way back to your cottage, you decided to buy some chocolate for Remus at Honeydukes and picked up some toffees for yourself.
When you returned home you walked into the kitchen and called out to Remus that you were back. Receiving no answer and assuming that he was lost in a book, you moved to put your bags on the counter. You grabbed some food to feed your owl, Opal, before looking through the post.
There was an already opened letter laying on top of the stack, addressed to you. Remus must have opened it, it wasn't uncommon for you to open each other's letters.
Dear Ms. Potter,
We regret to inform you that your request has been denied. You have been barred access and rights of guardianship over Harry Potter. The reasons for this denial have been listed below.
a) single-person income
b)closeness with known murder and You Know Who affiliate, Sirius Black
c)unregistered Animagus(although no charges are being pressed)
d)known affiliation with a lycanthrope
Sincerely,
Minster of Magic Millicent Bagnold
Headmaster of Hogwarts Albus Dumbledore
You couldn't believe this, after trying so hard to obtain guardianship of Harry all the ministry could give you was bullshit excuses. And to top it all, Dumbledore signed off on it. You had a death grip on the counter as you called out to Remus again.
Laying down the letter to go look for him you spotted something else on the counter. There beside the stack of mail was a napkin that had I'm sorry scribbled on it with unmistakable handwriting.
It was only then that you realized how unnaturally quiet the cottage was. Moving through your home looking for Remus you began noticing items misplaced and his belongings not where they were this morning. Your eyes were beginning to blur and your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest. When you reached the bedroom it was unquestionable. Remus had left. It seemed he packed in a hurry and left you without saying goodbye. Without explaining, without talking to you. You didn't get to tell him that those were just bullshit excuses so that Dumbledore could have Harry stay with Lilly's sister. That he wasn't at fault, that he didn't cause this to happen.
Tears were streaming down your face as you collapsed onto the foot of your bed, wishing for him to come back home.

A Little Gryffindor Courage
Word Count: A little under 4.6k
Pairing: Young!Remus Lupin x Ravenclaw!Reader
Request: “Hi! Can you please do a young Remus Lupin x Ravenclaw! reader where she smells amortentia for slughorns class and she smells chocolate and panics bc woah, Remus likes chocolate! And he smells her scent (whatever you decide) in his own and gets the marauders go help set them both up? Tysm!!”
Authors Note: Am I using the “Marlene, Dorcas, Lily and Reader as girl group parallel to the Marauders just because four people get sat at a table in my brain”? You bet I am. Also, fem!reader as the request specified pronouns! This is my first request and I’m super excited to write it. I made the reader smell like lilacs because that’s what I smell like and it’s the first scent that came to mind lol. Reader smells more than just chocolate in the Amortentia bc I firmly believe it’s about more than romantic love. So I’ll say it now, only the third and final smell for Reader is meant to be romantic. I’m a sucker for an amortentia fic and a young!Remus so this is the perfect first request- it’s like you picked my brain to come up with it. I hope you like it! Xoxo (tagging @ragnarachael bc I promised her I would)
Summary: Sixth year students Remus Lupin and Y/N L/N have been good friends and potions partners for a while. One day, Professor Slughorn decides to switch up the pairs and you find yourself partnered with your dear friend Lily Evans while you study and make Amortentia. What happens when you find yourself smelling chocolate? Some teasing from Lily, and a push in the right direction from your friends help you and Remus figure out that there might be more than just friendly feelings between the two of you.
Warnings: If you count some terrible puns as a warning, then there’s that.
“Hey pretty lady, can I walk you to your class?”
“Oh my, a suitor of my own. I can’t wait to tell mother.” Your best friend Lily Evans giggled as she turned around to see you standing behind her, hand extended to her.
“Oi L/N, you make a better James than James.” Sirius yelled out from down the table as you watched Peter duck so James could have the perfect line or sight to toss a piece of cereal at his best friend.
“Good morning boys.” You waved, laughing as Lily took your hand and began to walk with you away from the Gryffindor table and out of the Great Hall to go to your first lesson, Potions.
You loved having Potions first thing in the day, and certainly not because of your professor. Sure Slughorn meant well but there was only so much fawning he could do over you and your best friends before you were practically begging for Professor McGonagall’s tough no nonsense attitude. No, you liked Potions because it meant you got to start your day with your best friends, as Ravenclaw and Gryffindor shared the class together.
The second you left the Great Hall, you were joined by Dorcas Meadowes and Marlene McKinnon, the other half of your friend group. You supposed people thought it was strange that your closest friends were in a different house, but hey houses are about the qualities you espouse and hold dear, not a binding group of exclusive friends that you can’t stray beyond. The four of you made your way down to the dungeons while the three Gryffindors caught you up on the nighttime shenanigans the Marauders had been up to since you saw them last.
Walking into the classroom, you saw a note on the front board telling you that Professor Slughorn would be late and to divide into the pairs up on the board. Huh, that’s weird, you thought, Slughorn usually keeps the same partners. Well, I hope my new one is as good as my current one. You scanned the board to find your name and breathed a sigh of relief when you saw that luckily you were paired with Lily. Okay, so maybe there were some benefits to being the teacher’s favorites.
“Aww poor Y/N/N, she won’t get to stare at her boy all class.” Marlene teased as her and Dorcas took their seats on the opposite sides of the table from you and Lily. Huh, me and Lil and Dorcas and Marls? Slughorn must be in a really good mood.
“Oh hush, Remus and I are friends okay, nothing more. You’re just projecting your love for Sirius onto me, Marlene McKinnon.” Marlene shrugged, smirking, but dropped the subject as the boys in question walked into the room.
“Sluggy, Lily, ladies, other members of the class.” James Potter came strolling into the classroom first, with a smirking Sirius Black, an amused looking Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin, lovingly rolling his eyes at his friend. James stopped to acknowledge Lily, then the rest of your table before turning to realize that your professor was nowhere to be seen.
“We’re supposed to be getting into the pairs listed on the board, and starting to brew Amortentia. But then again, those of us who can read already know that, Potter.” If it was anybody else you were sure the harsh comment would be enough for a jinx thrown behind their backs later, but with Lily and James it was just par for the course.
You went to the storage cupboard to get the ingredients you needed, while Lily was setting up your cauldron with the proper equipment you would need to make the potion.
“Good morning, Y/N.” You heard the familiar voice of your typical potions partner and turned around to find Remus Lupin standing behind you, waiting to grab his own ingredients.
“Morning, Remus. I have to say, as glad as I am that it’s Lil, I’m going to miss my favorite potions partner”. You teasingly bumped his hip with your own as you said this, your arms full of potions ingredients.
“Don’t let Lily hear you say that I’m your favorite, not her, she’ll kick both of our arses.”
“Oh Remus, who said I was talking about you?” You giggled as you ducked under his arm to head back to your table.
“I’m wounded, truly.” Remus smirked at you as you tried to hide the blush that was undoubtedly creeping up your face.
“Somehow I think you’ll survive, Rem.” You quickly walked away before Marlene or the girls could notice the interaction and tease you even further about it.
You walked back over to your table, trying not to look back at the tall boy that had captured your attention. As much as you liked Remus, you weren’t going to say anything. Sometimes you thought he was flirting with you, but you were sure that you were reading into it. Besides, with best friends like James, Sirius and Peter, there was no way he could possibly like you without the three of them turning it into a spectacle a la Lily and James.
Sometime later, Professor Slughorn had appeared, apologizing for his absence and mumbling something about a group of first and second years that had needed a big enough disciplinary meeting that included him as their Head of House, and the Headmaster. You barely paused to register what he was saying as you continued focusing your attention on brewing your, fairly complicated potion. Soon enough, the liquid in your cauldron was taking on a mother-of-pearl shine as steam came piling out of it. You wiped your hand over the back of your forehead, to hopefully reduce the bit of sweat that was appearing as everyone’s potions were giving off hot steam.
“Hey, Marlene?”
“Yes, Dorcas?”
“I wonder what exactly a tall, sandy haired Gryffindor prefect smells like?” You looked up from your potion and groaned as your two best friends on the other side of the table exchanged wicked grins, that you knew meant trouble.
“Well you know Dor, I bet there’s one way to find out.”
“Just ask Y/N/N what her Amortentia smells like.” Dorcas and Marlene finished together as Lily laughed and you groaned.
Unbeknownst to you, there was a similar discussion occurring over at the Marauders table.
“Hey James, how many galleons do you want to put on a bet that whatever Y/N smells like, our Moony here smells in his potion?”
“It’s lilacs!” Peter excitedly claimed.
“What?” His three best friends turned, faces screwed up in confusion, to stare at him.
“What Y/N smells like? She smells like lilacs.” Peter smiled as he offered this information.
“Now how in Merlin’s name do you know that Pete?” Sirius turned to look from Peter to you, back to Peter with one eyebrow raised.
“That Hogsmeade weekend when she was sick and couldn’t go, she asked me to pick up some more of her soap for her, don’t you remember?”
“No Pete literally nobody remembers that, and loverboy, do you feel like you’ve got competition now?”
“Don’t be a hippogriff’s left nut James, you two probably just had detention that day. And regardless, anyone could tell you that she smells like lilacs.”
“Again, no, nobody just knows that off the top of their head. Unless they’re Peter or they’re in love.”
Before either you or Remus could give some sort of (honestly well deserved) snarky remark to your respective friend groups, Professor Slughorn called the class to attention and began to wax poetic about Amortentia.
“Ahh Amortentia. The strongest love potion in the world, but I’m sure you all know that from the chapter. It smells different to each person, depending on that which attracts them. Some people smell purely based on the romantic love in their life, but for many of us, Amortentia’s smell reminds us of love both familial and romantic, platonic and intimate. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, maybe love is in the nose of the potion maker.” Slughorn paused here to chuckle, with one hand on his stomach and the other rested on his desk, clearly incredibly amused by himself.
As badly as you wanted to keep a straight face and not encourage the man from any further attempts at humor, you couldn’t stop the laugh escaping from your mouth. Before you had a chance to cover your mouth with your hand, Remus turned around and the two of you shared eye contact and a smile that Lily (who was of course, observing) would swear had nothing to do with the joke you were both unsuccessfully trying not to laugh at. That was one thing you liked about having Remus as a potions partner, you had similar senses of humor and he wasn’t afraid to laugh at a professor’s bad jokes with you. Unfortunately, Professor Slughorn caught the eye contact between you two and decided that you were the perfect person to pick on as the next, and final, part of the lesson.
“Now, class, as we can see Miss Evans and Miss L/N’s potion is absolutely marvellous, see the mother of pearl sheen? The spirals of steam? I can see that not all of you had as much luck, so after we have Miss L/N demonstrate for us how to properly smell the potion and describe for us what she smells, I want you all to come over here and smell their potion. Then you may pack up for the day. Remember, I want a foot of parchment on Amortentia and you will not receive complete marks unless I see you smell this potion and you make mention of your specific type of scent in your essay. Have a good day, I’ll be at my desk to observe if you have any questions. But first, Miss L/N?”
You were hoping he’d forget. But, he didn’t. What a man, forgets when you need him to remember and remembers when you need him to forget. Oh well, at least he means well. You tucked your hair behind your ears so as to not get any of it in the potion and leaned forward to inhale just a little bit of the steam to be able to smell your potion.
“Well, go on girl, tell us what you smell.”
As you breathed in, the first thing you noticed was the indescribable scent that you knew without hesitation, “It smells like my grandmother’s kitchen. If I could describe happiness and childhood in a scent it would be this.” You sighed contentedly as you continued describing the scent of your potion, “and something.. Comforting, clean, but I can’t totally tell. Oh, Lil can you move away for a moment?”
As Lily moved to the other side of the table, you realize that you can still smell what is just so fundamentally Lily. “Well that makes sense, the next scent is my best friend. It’s you, Lil.” You smiled at her as you tried to hone in on the third and final discernible scent in your potion.
“Anything else Miss L/N?” You sensed that Slughorn could tell you weren’t quite done with your potion.
“It’s… hmm I mean it’s sweet but not like a pudding. I think it’s, yes it’s chocolate.” You were so focused on your potion that you didn’t see the way that Remus froze in his chair, eyes on you while Sirius was (not subtly at all) tapping Remus on the knee under the table, as if to say “Hey Remus that’s you in case you didn’t know, that friend of ours that you’ve fancied for years smelled you and you’re chocolate”. You know, the way an excited puppy might hit you with its wagging tail.
But you didn’t notice, you were too busy trying to think through who you associated with the smell of chocolate because smelling Remus? Certainly not, how fanciful and romantic- you didn’t have time to be a hopeless romantic. No, there had to be some other explanation than the boy who you knew always had chocolate for a friend in need and who threatened to die Sirius’ beloved hair if he stole his last bar of chocolate one more time. It couldn’t be Remus, who always let Lily raid his chocolate stash for you when he knew it was your time of the month, Remus for whom you made sure to return the favor (what? You were a Ravenclaw for Rowena’s sake, it wasn’t like you hadn’t put two and two together, I mean really it didn’t take a potions master to figure out why his friends called him Moony). Nope, there was another explanation and that was that.
While you were typically to dispose of your own potion and clean up your workstation, Professor Slughorn allowed you and Lily to be the first to leave class and have someone else (likely him) clean up your area, that way everyone else could use your perfect potion to find their own smell. You and Lily grabbed your bags and books, told Marlene and Dorcas you’d meet them in the courtyard and headed out of the classroom.
As you made your way to the courtyard, Remus was taking his time clearing his own cauldron, hoping that if he went slowly enough his friends would give up and go smell the Amortentia without him. He could have smelled his own except Peter accidentally bumped his arm while he was pouring one of his ingredients into his cauldron. While Peter apologized profusely, Remus didn’t mind; it was one of the most advanced potions they had attempted so far and it was likely that a mistake would be made somewhere along the way. Regardless, Remus wasn’t necessarily afraid of what he might smell, he was afraid of admitting it to his friends.
“Cmon Moons, time to go find out what gives you a nose boner…. A noner”
“Sirius, do you hear the things that come out of your mouth?” Being best friends with James and Sirius, one might think that they would cease finding things surprising. They would be wrong.
“Nope, it’s a surprise to me as well, more fun that way. Let’s go!” Before Remus could protest or find something else to occupy his time and attention, Sirius had grabbed his one arm, James the other and Peter was standing behind him making sure that he had no choice but to move forward towards the cauldron.
The three boys shoved Remus so hard he nearly went head first into the cauldron, a little too excited to see what the potion would reveal. When the tall blonde boy softened, and the corners of his mouth turned up instinctively at the first smell of the potion, the boys knew that look meant one thing and one thing alone: lilacs.
Remus would deny it (“Denial is a hell of a drug, my wolfy little friend”) but he had a Y/N face. James could put a bell around your neck and it still wouldn’t be as reliable as Remus’ face to notify others that you had entered a room. Then again, as he’d remind his friends, unless you’re carrying a mirror around everywhere, one can never really know what the nuances of their different facial expressions can look like. Regardless, the Y/N face never lies, and without having to ask, the Marauders knew that the potion had confirmed what everyone with a pair of eyes knew, that you and Remus both fancied each other deeply enough to impact the smell of your Amortentia. As Remus began to straighten up, the three boys exchanged looks and knew that they needed to do something to help the two of you figure out how to express your feelings before someone in your respective friend groups just put it in a Howler for the entire Great Hall to hear.
As you went on with the rest of your day, completely unaware of what (or perhaps more accurately, who) Remus smelled in his Amortentia, your friends realized that the Marauders were up to something. After Potions, you didn’t have another class with Gryffindors for the rest of that particular day so until dinnertime (you liked to spend lunch with your fellow Ravenclaws) you wouldn’t have a really good chance to catch up with any of them. That left the Marauders free to scheme and your friends free to try and find out what their favorite trouble makers were up to.
“Alright Pettigrew, tell us what’s going on.” Lily Evans walked up to Peter Pettigrew who, instead of using his break to go into the courtyard or even the library, was standing outside the very same potions classroom they were in that morning.
“What? Erm, nothing really… what’s… going on with you?” Peter looked around nervously wondering why now of all times, it was his turn to be the lookout. They should have known better than to come up with a plan regarding Y/N without bringing Marlene, Lily, and Dorcas in on it.
“Come on Peter, you can’t think we’re that stupid. Now where are the other three? And what trouble are you getting into?”
“My sweet Lilyflower.” The three girls jumped as Sirius appeared behind them, having snuck up behind them silently.
“Ugh, Sirius. Come on, we know you’re up to something and I don’t have time for another one of Potter’s proposals.” Lily rolled her eyes, while Marlene and Dorcas laughed.
“Now now Lilypad, you’re not the flower we’re concerned with today. We’re on more of a… lilac kick today.” Sirius smirked, feeling so clever as he said this.
“So it has to do with Y/N?” Marlene’s eyes lit up as she started to put the pieces together.
“What? Erm, what?”
“Everyone knows she smells like lilacs, she’s always getting more lilac soap and perfume when we go into Hogsmeade.” Dorcas rolled her eyes as Sirius looked around, clearly not expecting that answer.
“Huh, Remus was right, everyone knows that.” Before Sirius could answer, the door behind Peter opened and James came out of the classroom.
“Okay, we take it back Pete, maybe that is something everyone knows.” Peter smiled triumphantly as Sirius shrugged. “Anyways, follow us ladies.” The six students walked up towards the Gryffindor common room together, as the boys filled the girls in on their plan for dinner.
Dinnertime arrived and you walked into the Great Hall, surprised to find that none of your friends were at the Gryffindor table. You quickly scanned the other three tables, taking extra time when looking at the Ravenclaw table, in case they decided to switch things up and were waiting for you at a different table tonight. You even glanced over at the Slytherin table, knowing that the chance of them being there was greater than the chance of you suddenly owning all the gold in Gringotts.
Suddenly there was an arm around your shoulder, and Sirius was by your side. “M’lady, would you care to join me for dinner?”
“Oh well of course good sir”. You laughed as you allowed Sirius to steer you towards the Gryffindor table. You sat down next to him and saw James, Marlene, Peter, and Dorcas all walking in together, talking as they made their way over to you and Sirius at the table. You started to pour yourself a glass of pumpkin juice when you realized that your friends were definitely up to something. The girls acting this cozy with the boys? All while wearing mischievous smiles on their faces and staring at you? Yep, something was definitely going on. You wondered if it had anything to do with Lily and Remus’ absences and wondered for a moment if that meant James was planning another elaborate show of love for Lily with Remus acting as the distraction.
“Alright, you lot are up to no good, what is it this time?” You did your best impression of Professor McGonagall, making Dorcas, Marlene, and Peter burst out in laughter and earning impressed smirks from Sirius and James.
“My dear, wonderful, talented potion maker Y/N/N, could you kindly identify this potion for us?” James pulled a vial out of his pocket, took off the lid and handed it to you. Even if you hadn’t noticed the distinct coloring, the immediate smell of chocolate and Lily’s fresh linens hit you and you knew that somehow your friends had gotten ahold of their own bit of Amortentia.
“Guys, you can’t be serious? You can’t give someone Amortentia, that’s incredibly unethical and not to mention-”
“Don’t worry my wise little friend, we aren’t dosing anyone. But, you can confirm this is Amortentia?” Sirius smirked at you while taking the vial out of your hands, all the while leaving the cap off.
“Yes of course, how did you get it? What are you doing with it?”
“Never mind that, and just wait and see.” Sirius said as Marlene leaned into your ear to whisper (“nicked it from Sluggy’s office earlier”).
At that exact moment, Lily and Remus came up to the table, deep in discussion. “Hey everyone.” Remus smiled at you as he greeted everyone.
“Here, mate. You can take my seat and I’ll move over- woah, sorry Moons.” In his attempt to stand up and allow Remus to swap spots with him, Sirius slipped and managed to pour the entire vial of Amortentia down Remus’ robes. Before anyone could offer him a napkin to wipe it off the Muggle way, or could get their wand out for a quick Scourgify, Remus started laughing.
“Merlin, Sirius, it really wasn’t that important for you to prove. We get it, you don’t know that Y/N usually smells like lilacs, you didn’t need to go out and nick her perfume to prove that the rest of us recognize it.” Remus continued laughing as your jaw dropped.
All of a sudden, it made sense. As the pieces fell together, you realized why Sirius had stolen the Amortentia from Slughorn’s office and why ¾ of the Marauders were conspiring with your friends. You quickly realized that the reason no one was quick to help clean up the mess was because unlike you, they knew it was coming and wanted to make sure that Remus would identify your scent before it was gone. You also figured that the reason Lily came late was to distract and slow down Remus so everyone else could have time to have you identify the potion, and that Sirius’ spill was as purposeful as him initially taking the seat next to you. Not for the first time that day, you knew that Remus unknowingly caused you to both smile, and blush while trying to hide both.
“I suddenly remembered that I need to ask my girl Minnie McG about Quidditch and that I need Sirius, Peter, Lily, Marlene, and Dorcas with me for moral support.” James jumped up from the table, and after a nod from Sirius, the rest of your friends stood up and quickly headed towards the front of the room.
“All of them? That’s so odd. Y/N, your perfume is rather lovely as always, but would you mind passing me a napkin?” Remus awkwardly brought his hand up to scratch behind his ear as he sat down across from you, waiting for an explanation and a napkin. You instead got your wand out and muttered a quick scourgify, handing Remus a glass of pumpkin juice instead.
“Erm, Remus.”
Before you could say anything else, Remus (finally noticing the hesitation in your voice and amusement on your face) panicked that he had made you uncomfortable by recognizing your perfume, “Oh so earlier the boys and I were talking about our friends and Peter mentioned that he knew that you smelled like lilacs because of that one Hogsmeade trip and then-”
“Remus!” You reached across the table and placed your hand on his, hoping that you were guessing correctly in that your scent was romantically in his Amortentia, and that it wasn’t there just as a good friend.
“Yes?” This time, it was Remus’ turn to flush, and though his hand twitched nervously under yours, he didn’t dare move a muscle.
“That wasn’t my perfume Sirius spilled on you. It was, well, it was some leftover Amortentia from this morning. Wait, hey, wait, let me finish okay?” You smiled sweetly at him, knowing that his nerves had to be extreme right now. “Do you remember the third thing I smelled this morning? The chocolate? It’s you, of course it’s you Remus. I mean honestly, do you think I fancy the cashier at Honeydukes?” You winked at him, then took a deep breath.
“Listen, Rem, if I’ve got this all wrong and you smelled my perfume platonically like I smelled Lily, just say the world and we’ll never mention this again but, I fancy you, a lot. I figure that I know us both well enough to know that neither of us are really keen on being the one to make the first move. So I was wondering if I could borrow a little of your Gryffindor courage?”
Remus (who was displaying the strongest case of Y/N face in recorded history) nodded, happy but also curious to see where you were going with this. You smiled and took a breath to steady yourself as you lifted the hand that wasn’t currently on his and placed it lightly on the side of his face. If hearts could melt, yours would have been absolute liquid at the sight and sensation of Remus smiling and leaning into your hand. You slowly started to lean in, wanting to give him the opportunity to change his mind.
Finally, for the first time since he realized he fancied you all those years ago, Remus Lupin decided to do something about it and leaned in to meet you halfway. Remus turned the hand on the table upwards, so as to hold your hand properly while kissing you and you smiled into the kiss thinking that if Gryffindor courage meant getting to kiss Remus like this, you might talk to Dumbledore about a house transfer.
As you pulled away, you heard a noise behind you and turned around to find Professor McGonagall staring at the two of you, as you both blushed but remained holding hands.
“Miss L/N, Mr. Lupin, I assume I don’t have to remind you that public displays of affection need not occur in the Great Hall?” McGonagall tilted her head and spoke sternly, and before you could apologize, Sirius and James came quite literally running up to the three of you.
“Minnie, it’s young love!! You can’t deny them that!” Sirius yelled as James dramatically pretended to cry, hand clutched to his chest.
“Oh pull yourselves together boys, and get on with dinner.” As soon as Minerva McGonagall turned away from you, she could no longer keep a smile from creeping onto her face. She was ready to collect her galleons from Pomona Sprout about which of the two of you would make a move first (she counted your declaration as a move as the kiss was mutual), and could later be heard laughing over pudding “Well of course, I wasn’t going to deny them that, I mean did they see me revoking house points? No, but I can’t let them know we approve, Albus, it takes away half the fun”).
