Yes she is an ex companion, but the word choice is still odd and with Ten and Martha's dynamic, it is a really strange word to use if you were not trying to imply something more.

Ten is mourning Rose in season 3 and I think that absolutely does play in to how he treats Martha.

To me there's no denying that Ten was not attracted to her when he looks at her like this when they first meet in Smith And Jones

And then subtlety caresses her cheek with his thumb during the genetic transfer kiss

Of course at the end of the episode, once he invites Martha onboard that is when he shuts everything down, and I don't think he does that because he does not have an interest in Martha, but he does it for two reasons, the first being that he is mourning Rose's loss and the second reason that he is afraid to get close to someone else in the same way in fear of A: losing that person and B: guilt.

Their relationship is a complex one because of Ten's inner turmoil, not because Martha was making things difficult because of her crush on him. In fact, there are several moments in season 3 where Ten flirts with Martha. (Outside of the end of the first episode, this is something Martha does not do. She respects his boundaries when it comes to his supposed unrequited feelings towards her, and the one time she might have tried to shoot her own shot, she gets shot down and does not try again.)

This moment in The Shakespeare Code being one of them. After the Doctor gets attacked and Martha goes to check in on him and probably plans to provide cpr (the same way she did in their first ep together) and then she stops and is like

"hold on mister, two hearts?"

to which the Doctor gets up and replies

There was hardly any reason for this to happen. The Doctor could have responded any other way, and he could have not even let Martha get that close to him.

Then there's this moment in Daleks In Manhattan where

Very, very weird thing to say to someone you don't have any interest in.

And then he tries to play it off with telling Frank the same thing, and come to think of it, he does that several times.

Martha and Ten hug?

"Never waste time on a hug."

It's so cold, and distant and there's really no need for Ten to be behaving like this if he did not like her, but was also trying to protect himself.

Also, like I said people can have multiple loves, and that includes "great" ones. Do I think Ten was in love with Martha? No, he never gave himself the chance, but do I believe he was attracted to her and the textual evidence does not lie.

For my own sanity I've blocked @/youareworldsaway bc I'm not beefing over RoseMartha for several days. I said what I said and this is not a RoseMartha safespace idgaf.

What I'm also saying is have no issue with Rose, Ten or TenRose in itself. My issue is the way the fans and shippers used those characters/the ship to not only be racist to Martha but enabled antiblackness and misogynoir towards Freema Agyeman and mixed race and Black fans. My issue is how for a long time those fan spaces were not welcoming for mixed and Black fans and how in 2023 they still aren't. If this fandom has the balls call Martha Aunt Jemima, affirmative action and every other antiblack trope in the book they can handle a fucking tumblr analysis post. Merry Christmas.

maybe! i do love the rtd era dearly but also i haven't watched dw in years so i'm very behind and also terrible at watching tv shows these days. but...i am VERY intrigued by the new doctor so maybe i will watch it. let's say there's a 70% chance of that. if it looks shiny and glossy though i'm bowing out. i need my doctor who to look tacky and CHEAP.

its not discourse ive seen fans say she got jaw surgery after s2 of who and she literally lost baby fat like most of the time people cant “recognize”her cause she changed her hair colors like disagree but yeah

i definitely think they are her best tour costumes yet (the attention to detail was something that i was missing during e.g. rep tour) and they are suuuper diverse and fun to look at, but I simply am not a bodysuit+thigh highs kinda gal hfdfds but i am also very not into performance looks in general, sooo. yea. I love that she tried a lot of new silhouettes and agian, the costumes look really good on stage and all.

everytime i share where i get them, specific members of very clearly billie piper is strictly only rose tyler fandom use said link to shut down any access to billie's media that becomes available for everyone else because despite their typed out anti-capitalist views, they become capitalist bootlickers as long as it benefits their few than the many. so to prevent that at all, i hate to say but, its not a fancam, i just found a site that shows i hate suzie and that ut had links for me to download. that all the other sites get their signal? it think its their steaming base. Like where all the sites you need to use a vpn for, this is most likely where those sites are getting it from i guess

kind of on topic for bj x mindy but the actor ben feldman is often confused for bj novack / been jokingly called that by his castmates on superstore and he plays mindys love interest in the mindy project in season 2
