It’s the casual thoughtlessness of it all, Kathryn thinks, gazing speculatively at Inspector Call Me Kashyk, Please pacing around her briefing room. Chakotay is nowhere to be found today, either because he’s wholly unbothered by this spectacle or because it bothers the hell out of him, and she won’t know which unless he deigns to tell her. She’s less… aware of the interiority of her first officer now than ever before. Since the ordeal with the Ramuran. Like he, too, is now a closed society, or maybe just closed to her.

Hallelujah - The Traitor's Song

Fic for the Merry Month of Cohen--

The only Leonard Cohen song I know is Hallelujah, which I think is beautiful. To me, the song is about loss of faith and I think it'd really apply to someone who feels betrayed by their government and commits treason. While Star Trek has had some disgraced officers, the song seemed to apply most to Eddington.

You Want It Darker

The Merry Month of Cohen Awaits and You Want It Darker

Usual parameters as before but this year’s twist: No Happy Endings.

1. Pick a Leonard Cohen song. Any Cohen song/lyrics you like as long as they sing the Siren’s Call of Pain and Angst. This year there are no happy endings.

2. Pick a date between 1 May and 15 May to sign up. If we get more than 15 sign ups, that’s great! We will double/triple up. I will turn no one away. Message this blog and you’ll be added to the timetable. Message any time with questions, etc…

3. Produce a fan work (art, fic, vid, gifset, poem, podfic, filk, etc…) that is based on some aspect of Star Trek (characters, plotlines, settings, pairings, ratings etc) and is somehow related to your chosen Cohen song. You can use the lyrics, the title, or the overall feel.

4. Mashing up Star Trek fandoms is cool but keep any crossovers contained in the Star Trek universe.

5. Post it to your chosen platform on your chosen date.

6. Either message this blog with the details of where it’s posted so we can publicize it, or if you’ve posted it on tumblr, tag your post with #merrymonthofcohen and tag this blog.

7. If you’re posting on AO3 you can also add your fan work to the you_want_it_darker collection.
