Buddy was one of Cybertrons best detectives during the war.

She was hailed with finding many lost Autobots and catching Decepticons off guard with her swiftness and skilled martial artistry.

She had some teaching from Master Yoketron but decided to leave the dojo to help High Command in the war.

Buddy met Ultra Magnus as his personal bodyguard.

The old one had taken leave to get repairs and some of the back up guards had been called into the draft.

Buddy was personally called after Magnus had heard of her reputation.

Even though the job was temporary Buddy took her job seriously in guarding Ultra Magnus.

They bonded during that time from the near-death situations to potential strategy plans suggested.

“Ultra Magnus.”--Buddy

“Buddy? What seems to be the trouble?”--Magnus

“If I may be so bold…”--Buddy

“You may.”--Magnus

“Is it wise to move the troops in this sector? We would be leaving this flank completely unguarded.”--Buddy

Magnus had offered Buddy a spot in the Elite Guard once the knew guard had arrived, but she politely declined in return for wanting to go back and do her detective work.

Buddy had returned another group of Autobots to a nearby relief camp.

When the three of them came into the dark Plant. A single light was turned on in the middle of the common room.

Giving and Receiving Great Feedback

                A part of every writing process is receiving feedback from others, and likely reading someone else’s work and giving it yourself. First, we do this because there’s no such thing as a perfect writer, and what happens in our heads when we read our own work may not necessarily be what the reader is getting. As well, reading others’ work helps you with your literacy skills, and what’s important to you as a reader (plus, it’s just nice to return the favour).

                So here’s some tips to giving good feedback:

Your should never tear apart the work. Your feedback should inspire the writer to keep going and make their piece better—not quit or give up. Balance suggestions and compliments.

Try to refrain from suggesting your own ideas unless specifically asked for. What I mean by that is avoiding statements such as, “maybe instead of (this), the characters do (this)” your job is not to write the story for them, and often, you might not be making the work better, just different.

Ask pointed questions instead, but ultimately leave the work up to the writer. Something like, “I wonder what (character) was thinking during this moment?” Or “from what I know so far, here’s my prediction for what’s going to happen.” It’s up to the writer to decide whether your questions/predictions need to be answered in the work, and how.

Always start and end with some specific positive feedback. There is always something good about every piece of work—it can be a great detail, some interesting dialogue, a concept you really like, the tone, a character.

In general, it’s most helpful to include specifics or details about what’s working and not working in the piece. Take quotes, write down page numbers and paragraphs, lines. That’s infinitely more helpful than just saying “your descriptions are well written.” If you catch yourself saying that, try adding, “such as in line (really good line) or (another good line).”

When receiving feedback, remember it’s ultimately your work and you get the final say, but remain open to the suggestions and comments you’re receiving. Try them out, but don’t be afraid to end up not including them if they aren’t working for you. Never argue, even if you think your feedback giver is wrong—they took time out of their day to read your work, you should thank them for their thoughts. Even something simple like, “Thank you very much for your feedback, I appreciate the time you took to read my work” is great.

As tempting as it is, you can’t discard everyone else’s advice and go it alone. Such is the path to become a frustrated, bitter shell of a human being, frustrated at some complete bullshit that won’t move for you. What our species figured out eons ago is that working together gets things done. Something that has been frustrating you for weeks has been encountered – and defeated – by some other weirdo. Maybe you have some skill or tool they need. When paired up, you can make some really strange shit.

Of course, among project-heavy freaks like myself, it’s difficult to find people to collaborate with. We’re just so busy all the time, due to the bourgeoisie demanding that we serve in spirit-draining jobs instead of eating grapes while reclining nude in the sun. As a result, it can be hard to justify asking someone else to give up their minuscule amount of project time in order to help me with mine.

I did think about starting a “buddies program.” The idea is that, when you’re bored at home and need somewhere to hang out for awhile, you can go hang out with some random person. You’ll pass wrenches, and shoot ideas about how to pull that fucking cockeyed throw-out bearing out. Bread, maybe? Stuff it in there and push it out? Okay, go get a loaf of bread. The downside of this program is the same as it always is, the tragedy of the commons. Even among your wrenching friends, I am certain there is someone who is more of a drain on the available time and resources than they put back in. In my friends group, it’s me. This works out as long as you are friends, and have some kind of common social goal, or at least the others are concerned for your welfare and are trying to keep you from going off on your own and adding nitrous oxide to, say, a zoo elephant. With random, anonymous internet perverts? We’d have a murder on our hands in a week. So that whole idea went in the trash.

So the solution, then, is to make more friends. Friends with weird cars. Friends with interesting lives, and a lot of lived experience. Friends with that cool portable bandsaw I saw on the internet the other day, that thing seems like it would work really well to chop this road sign I stole from outside their house into a skid plate. It is through community that we’ll save ourselves. Just not the community that I stole the road sign from. Those normal people aren’t helping me at all by calling the cops.

Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic Prime, Character Analysis - Part 7)

Welcome back to Part 7 of my Shadow, Sonic, and to an extent, Nine character analysis! This one will cover Episode 21: Home Sick Home and Episode 22: The Devil is in the Tails. In addition, this and the next post will also have a lot of gifs coz I'm hellbent to analyze every detail of this show.

So, let's dive in!

''Shadow, you're alive! Help a brother up?'' ''We are not related.''

After getting knocked into the abyss Nine made, Shadow makes an epic return by saving Sonic from the Grim Variant Trooper, with Sonic being happy to see that he's alive. Shadow... doesn't get the joke, but Sonic doesn't care. Also, Shadow does the pose from Sonic X. X3

*sighs* ''Nevermind. You okay?'' ''I survived. Nine's Alphas deployed a massive army to keep me down here.'' ''Alphas? You mean the ones that can duplicate themselves?''

''If I still had that Chaos Emerald, I could've teleported out of here. But, it's lost to the Void. And, smashing hordes of Sonics isn't the worst thing in the world.''

''Up for smashing a few more of mes?''

Okay, hol' up a second there buddy! ''Smashing Sonics?'' I hope the writers knew what they were doing, because the internet is going to take this conversation WAAAY out of context... and they already did.

In any case, we get an explanation to what Shadow was doing, and while yes, we see Shadow literally flying out of the abyss without the need for a Chaos Emerald, I assume that he meant that there was such a huge army of troopers that he needed the Chaos Emerald to get out. However, by the time Sonic arrived, the number lessened, so he could escape.

In any case, he's definitely up for smashing more Sonics.

They continue fighting the troopers, and what I really love about this fight is how they basically start playing tennis with the robot, throwing it from one to the other before Sonic slams it down.

''Hahaha! Helloooo, teamwork! Up top!'' ''These troopers are one thing, but the Alphas can generate an endless army. They are the real threat.'' *sighs* *high-fives himself*

Hey, Shadow, Shads, Shad, dude! Don't leave Sonic hanging like that. At least you could've taken the moment and high-five him since Sonic just wanted to celebrate your amazing teamwork. Admittedly, I can also understand Shadow here, as he is all business, quickly pointing out to Sonic how Nine's army works.

''Rebel's plan is working. The Scavengers are through to the citadel. They're gonna cut Nine off from the Prism.'' ''Which is in Nine's lab, guarded by the Alphas. They'll never reach it!'' ''So, how do we destroy them?''

Earlier, Sonic had managed to team up with all of the Shatterverse Variants, and instead of being reckless, he left it to Rebel to figure out a plan to get them through. However, Shadow doesn't have much faith as he understands just how much danger the Alphas pose, with Sonic recognizing that Shadow is right and asks for advice. After all, Shadow is usually the one who can see the flaws more easily.

''We don't. We're going after Nine!'' ''No, we're not!''

''We''? Did Shadow just say ''We''? He did! He shows absolutely zero hesitation wanting to work with Sonic in taking down Nine, and I have to say, I'm so proud of him managing to get to this point. However, as it was shown last time, Shadow needs to acknowledge that, while he did accept that he and Sonic need each other, they also need more help.

Also, remember how Shadow attempted to reach out for Sonic when the latter grieved his loss back at Ghost Hill, but backed away? Well, Sonic shows no hesitation here, quickly grabbing Shadow's arm to stop him. Shadow doesn't even push him away or anything, just glances back before yanking his arm out of Sonic's grip and remains on the spot, listening to what Sonic has to tell him. Their communication skills have definitely improved.

''You said it yourself. If we don't go after the Alphas, we're cooked. And the only way to win this thing is if we work together. We need the others.'' ''It is the end of the universe-''

As Sonic talks to Shadow, we can literally see Shadow go through several expressions and emotional states, and honestly, this scene was killing me when I first watched it! X3

Shadow goes from ''Not this again!'' *eye-roll* to ''Yeah, that makes sense'' to ''What the hell, Sonic!'' in a matter of seconds and I'm loving every bit of it. He is so expressive and this little moment shows that he there is more to him than it seems.

That, and he's dealing with Sonic, so obviously, he'd show more emotion than usual, since Sonic seems to be the only capable of triggering such emotional reactions from him. Not to mention, Shadow is certainly comfortable enough in Sonic's presence to show these kinds of reactions.

''-and you're still thinking about your friends!'' ''Of course I am! They're all here, fighting, sacrificing themselves, for me!''

Shadow berates Sonic for thinking about his friends when the fate of the world is at stake, with Sonic arguing how of course he'd do that. They are fighting and sacrificing themselves for him, and he isn't going to let them down. Sonic will always put his friends as his priority and he is not wrong for doing that.

''All the more reason to go after Nine while he's distracted!'' ''And let my friends get pummeled when Nine only wants me? *gasp* Nine only wants me... I have an idea!''

However, I cannot argue that Shadow is wrong either. He is right that they need to go after Nine before everything gets destroyed.

Honestly, this very argument showcases best how Sonic and Shadow's minds work. Shadow will focus on the end goal and how to achieve it, while Sonic looks at the bigger picture, at the people affected by their decisions. Both are right and wrong at the same time, and both want to take a different approach, but the only way to win this is to work together.

Especially with Sonic suddenly realizing that there is a way for them to win this war.

As Sonic and Shadow go join the rest of the group, we see all of them taking down Robot Big, with Shadow and Sonic exchanging looks after seeing this feat happen. Sonic grins, giving Shadow an ''I told you so!'' look, while Shadow is genuinely surprised that the group had managed to succeed in taking down such a formidable foe.

''Gang, this is Shadow! Shadow, meet, well... everyone, I guess.''

Rebel is glad to see Sonic, with Sonic quickly introducing Shadow to everyone else, which... awww, just look at them!

Sonic literally pulls Shadow into a side-hug, smushes his face against his cheek and rubs his shoulder, showing nothing but pure affection and being completely oblivious to everything else.

Shadow in turn, goes first into panic mode when Sonic pulls him closer, not sure what is happening, but unlike last time when he pushed Sonic away, he let's Sonic hug him. He certainly shows annoyance, but I think it is more out of embarrassment for being hugged like that in the public. He really doesn't mind being hugged by Sonic, and he even stays like this until Nine makes his move.

Also, where is Shadow's arm? It literally disappears when Sonic hugs him. Honestly, I choose to believe that he placed it on Sonic's back.

I also love how literally everyone's reaction to this is just being unimpressed (with Renegade Knux being 🤨?).

Everyone's reaction just screams ''Sonic, did you really have to introduce your boyfriend when it's the end of the world?''

Well, of course he had to. He and Shadow are closer than ever now and it's the end of the world. One might as well do whatever they want.

However, things quickly go south when Nine starts gathering more and more energy, making the The Grim decay even faster. This then leads up to the Chaos Council's mothership to be blown up.

''Mr. Dr., are you alive? Say something!''

Fortunately, Mr. Dr. Eggman manages to escape in his robot mech, wanting to melt Nine for what he had done. I just love how Shadow is also in the circle, wondering if Mr. Dr. Eggman survived or not. It's kinda hilarious.

With Prim's team defeated and the Shatterverse Variants being back to square one, Sonic quickly tells them their plan, and one notable thing in this shot is that, after they confront Nine, he looks to Rebel, then to Shadow, who nods in response. It is as if he's not only seeking for approval, but also making sure that they all have his back.

They're all in this together.

''Finally! Prove your worth machine!''

The battle begins anew, and I love how Shadow has beef with Grim Alpha Sonic, given how the latter had knocked him down into that abyss.

Seriously, I kept an eye on Shadow during this whole battle, and whenever he's shown, he mainly seeks out Grim Alpha Sonic, which made me think about something...

How cool would've it been if Nine had made Grim Alpha Shadow as a reference to the Shadow Androids from Sonic Heroes? I think people's minds would be blown.

However, as the battle goes on, we see Sonic's team losing, with Sonic confronting Nine. Gotta say, even if Shadow lost, look at how many troopers were sent to take him down. He would definitely be able to defeat all of them, though, if it weren't for one thing...

As we learn in Episode 22: The Devil is in the Tails, Sonic had managed to convince everyone to act as if they lost (yes, even Shadow followed that plan) and let Nine focus solely on draining the Prism energy while fighting Sonic, leaving the robots without power.

This leads to a victory for Sonic's team as they defeat the de-powered robots... at least until Nine powers them up again. Nevertheless, while Sonic (and later on, Renegade Knux) is focused on getting through/defeating Nine, everyone else focuses on the Alphas.

''You aren't going anywhere.''

When Nine orders the Alphas to target Sonic, most of them get knocked back by the Shatterverse Variants, with Shadow once again facing Grim Alpha Sonic.

We can see a parallel to Sonic and Shadow's fight from Episode 02: The Yoke's On You, but unlike last time, with Shadow fighting against Sonic, Shadow is now fighting for Sonic. He does get knocked down, leaving Grim Alpha Sonic to join Nine. I also checked that episode, and both Shadow and Sonic got knocked out after colliding. I suppose the Grim Alpha survived due to being a robot.

''We're not finished!''

However, Shadow makes a comeback, destroying the robot, much to Nine's shock.

''No! HOW?!'' ''I am... the Ultimate... Lifeform'' ''Modest too!''

Shadow's statement is once again very simplistic and factual. He is the Ultimate Lifeform, of course he'd beat a robot duplicate of his rival. I also love how Sonic jumps in with a comment, mainly because I have no idea if he was just messing with Shadow and Nine, or if he was genuinely honest about Shadow being modest. It's hilarious nonetheless. X3

Nine refuses to give up, using the Prism energy to paralyze both Shadow and Renegade Knux, while Sonic uses his own ability to create a barrier as The Grim decays faster and faster.

''He's not gonna stop.''

Sonic knows that he has no choice. Nine won't stop unless Sonic stops him. So he spin-dashes into Nine, knocking him down into the light of the Paradox Prism.

I absolutely loved how we could see here both Sonic and Shadow's growth, as well as how their ideals both clash and work together, leading up to the final confrontation (and also getting more Sonadow content because, hey, why not? XP).

Considering how Ian Flynn was a consultant for Sonic Prime, this episode really gave me the impression that this was the House of Cards arc from Archie!Sonic, as in the issues where Sonic and Tails have their big fight, but was written way better, acting like a redemption for that rushed mess.

So,

There really is nothing on system littles. And what I mean is, despite how long I've been searching I can't find much that helps us actually raise a child. System hosts will mention it, sure, or they'll have a specific alter who is great with kids. But we don't have any of that, and I bet other systems are struggling with this too. So, I'm compiling what I've learned in the past year or so and sharing it as an attempt to help.

This is written from my experiences with my little brother, a traumatized headmate around 10 years old. This might not apply to everyone.

Traumatized children require constant reassurance. They might be easily scared or startled by anything, and hold irrational beliefs that everything will hurt them (me too buddy). They can be the most vulnerable and emotional part of a system. This makes them really important, and in a unique position. They DEMAND attention. Even if they are quiet, if they are dissatisfied, it will come back and bite you in the ass. They require patience and special consideration.

You have to make your child headmate feel safe and comfortable. This is easier said than done. It's a lot more complicated than simply buying some toys and watching cartoons. Children have emotional needs, we all do. They need to feel love and feel like they are part of a family. This is why communication is very important. Communication is different with every system, and we communicate via a variety of writings, pinterest boards, dreams, co-fronting, and more direct but vague ways of throwing emotions at each other, and asking questions and receiving a vague response. This is all to say that even if you literally can't hold a conversation, there is many ways to talk to each other.

In order to meet your littles needs you have to know them first. You can assume the basics, yes, but that will only get you so far. Children also aren't known for their excellent communication skills, so this is a process. My little benefits from a pacifier, which was easy to figure out. But it took longer to realize he also wants his own clothing, and he refuses to wear black because it's a color that is worn too frequently by other alters, and he needs to feel like his own person. This might be a bit ridiculous. A color is just a color, right? No one is going to die by wearing black. But to him it is very important, and he will be distressed if he is not wearing clothes comfortable to him.

And the way our system works is it's easy to feel another alter's distress, so there is no point in wigging a systemmate out for no reason. You want to work together to reduce stress. It makes an easier time for everybody.

Anyways. You will have to make compromises. You make compromises just by being a system. I adjusted our living space to be more "child friendly". I removed the animal bones we had on display. I don't buy decor that my child alter would find scary, even if it's a horror movie character I like, even if I think it's not that bad. If you can make your little feel comfortable even by one percent, it's worth it. I adjusted our room to feel more cheerful. I have a shelf of easily accessible toys. I decorated our house more with cute things. Fridge magnets, goodwill figurines, a printed photo of a puppy, anything to make your syskid feel like this is also their space will help .

No target they set their sights on ever gets away! Through a curious series of events, two assassin buddies find themselves taking in a 4-year-old girl. Kazuki is a softhearted caretaker, and Rei's "on" and "off" modes are like night and day. They live together and look after the innocent 4-year-old Miri; it's a rough ride, but it'll all work out somehow... or will it?

The original anime Buddy Daddies, a collaboration between P.A. Works and Nitroplus, has finally begun. In this series, you can enjoy the action scenes of the assassin duo dealing with their work, and the domestic comedy of the new fathers and the bubbly Miri. Kazuki and Rei are brimming with charm, both in their facades and their hidden depths; they're sure to get you right in the heart! This issue, we bring you an interview with Aniplex producer Toba Yosuke, with some hints about how to recover our hearts from this duo.

Toba: "Kazuki is very family-oriented; he's the so-called maternal type. The reason why he started living together with Rei is that he saw the complete shambles of Rei's lifestyle, went, 'This won't do!' and started fussing over him. He's a great cook, and good at cleaning and laundry too, and on top of that, he just can't rest unless he gets it all done right. He also tends to be a bit of a busybody. Though all of that goes away when he's on the job…"

A taciturn man of contrasts

An assassin. A man of few words and fewer expressions. The elite assassin training he received has endowed him with outstanding physical ability, and he's at the top of the field in combat and marksmanship.

Behaves like two completely different people on the job and off it?!

His keen gaze lands a one-hit KO on the target ⭐

The lovely thing about Rei: The swoon-worthy, stark contrast between his ON (assassin) and OFF (personal) modes?

Toba: "Rei... when Rei is on the job, he's a cool assassin who coldly gets the mission done without a flicker of expression. But outside of work, he's a guy who just doesn't want to do anything, so he does absolutely nothing at home. (laughs) When he's out and about, he dresses in a sharp suit and has his hair swept up, but as soon as he gets home, he sits around in baggy loungewear and unkempt hair, and just spends all his time playing games. I think that on/off contrast makes for quite an adorable gap."

Rei carries out his assassin work flawlessly, and is a dead loss when it comes to regular life. He tends to be overly indifferent to himself and others, so you may need to be very tolerant in gently accepting him and offering your patient support...

A little girl living with Kazuki and Rei

An affectionate, innocent young girl, who gets caught up in a gunfight while searching for her father. She is rescued by Kazuki, and so they begin living together.

A question for Producer Toba! Valentine's Q&A

Q: How do you think Kazuki, Rei, and Miri would spend Valentine's Day?

Toba: I think Kazuki would make incredibly delicious chocolate confections. The whole table is covered with everything from cakes to parfaits to chocolate fondue to ganache... He also has 95% cocoa chocolate for himself, but I think he prepares much sweeter chocolate full of milk, for Miri. He should really be the receiving party in the first place, but he ends up making everything to give to Miri. Then Miri gives him a little chocolate she bought from some supermarket or conbini, and Kazuki is so happy he bursts into tears. (laughs)

Interview with the Love Guru: Producer Toba Yosuke

We wanted to depict the changes in a contrasting assassin duo

Interviewer: How exactly was the theme of "Buddy Daddies" decided?

Toba: We were discussing potential themes for an original anime with P.A. Works, and the producer Tsuji-san suggested, "Maybe something about parenting a 4 or 5-year-old?" Tsuji-san himself was right in the middle of working hard to raise a child, and so he wanted to reflect those ideas in an anime. And then it occurred to us that we could get a lot of comedy out of a story where someone who absolutely isn't cut out for parenting has to struggle to raise a child. In that case, who should we saddle with parenting? We thought it over, and the direct opposite of "raising children" is "killing people". So how about an assassin? And then it clicked into place. The only issue was that a child who is 4 or 5 years old is still at an age where they "can't act freely on their own" - so how would they be taken in by the assassin? We were stumped for a while because of that. That's when I discussed it with Shimokura-san (Shimokura Vio) from Nitroplus, and he suggested, "What about making it an assassin duo? Say the two of them pick up the child during a fight - I think a setup like that has potential." Upon hearing him say this, I thought, "That's it!" A family with no blood ties, and two men raising a child - a story like this would truly embody our modern times and their diversifying values. It felt like a perfect fit to me. I thought, "This could really go somewhere!" And so we went ahead with production.

Interviewer: Was there anything you paid particular attention to when depicting them?

Toba: I think we stuck quite closely to the fundamental premise of "two polar opposites are paired up as assassins, but once they take in a child, their lives begin to change". Kazuki is an assassin but has plenty of warm human emotion, and Rei knows nothing other than killing people in cold blood. How will these two men change because of a child? We wanted to depict that very carefully.

Interviewer: Was any part of the production process especially memorable?

Toba: The cast was decided by audition, but honestly, Toyonaga-san and Uchiyama-san are so perfect that I have to wonder if Kazuki and Rei were already written with them in mind. (laughs) Toyonaga-san gives off this sense of "warmth, but when he wants to play his cards close to his chest, he keeps them very close - but he also has a free and uninhibited side to him", and that's a breathtakingly perfect fit for Kazuki. As for Rei, we were already saying "Rei is very Uchiyama-san, huh (laughs)" from pretty early on in the production process. The recording sessions blew me away - you could really feel how well their characters mapped on to Kazuki and Rei.

Interviewer: Please give a message to our readers about what they can expect from here on.

Toba: Before Miri shows up, Kazuki and Rei are essentially living without any thoughts of the future. Given their line of work, they have no idea when they might die; they live like they could die at any moment, and they're fine with that. But once they have Miri - a child they need to protect and raise - their life rapidly changes. Is that good news or bad news for them? And what will their changes mean for the people around them? I hope you'll observe these "changes" for yourself.

In honor of returning to a convention again, after so many health issues stopped me, let's get self-indulgent!

For the sake lore wise, lets say this is in a modern setting

William 'Bill'

Obviously, mans will have that burned up face situation. Given, but in a setting wise he would be up the ladder and given the designated duty to study the history of the past. One of the few people who are trying to recover the airbending culture, and in charge of helping with items tampered with by bad karama/spirites. Meaning he is very close to the spiritual side, and more than likely using his bending as a means to mend things. Such as heating broken metal. An almost pacifist life style, which could have been influnced by how much hes learned through trying to help recover ancient history. Almost, A Pacifistic lifestyle. Recover what was lost. It would even be seen in his bending style, as he would be more intuned with air and water. Connected to the spirits, and it’ll show. You mess with him, well. Be careful next full moon buddy. Wouldn’t be a surprise if he pulled a Blue Spirit to steal back stolen artifacts

Charlie

He is the reason why the dragons have not gone extinct . He was specially chosen by the very dragons to help protect them. Running a special santuary on a island to keep them away, as to repair their nature. By this manner, he would have rainbow sparks in his flames. A sign that he is intuned with the dragons. Rasied by them, eats with them, he is much dragon as he is a bender. Having any visitors is esentially impossible, unless absolutly needed. Well, the weasley family would be allowed. Kin to their kin after all. He also would be extremely warm to the touch. Like I mean you throw a snow ball at him, it’s gonna start steaming. Mans a dragon. That would also mean he’s connected rather close to the spirit world. Not like Bill, but to say they haven’t been able to communicate through such a way is a lie. Just because he’s built like a jock doesn’t mean he’s dumber than a brick. Boy will he use that underestimation to his advantage in battle

Percy

Sorry guys, we know its true. He would climb the ranks, and get a bit intense. He will take pride in his nation, and need to have his family bring him back to earth alot. He would even be able to learn how to produce blue flames, in order to show his strength and determination to show the pride of his nation. Keep a close eye on him. He may be soon joining the Ozai Cult! A high ranking man he would be. Not in the military setting, but certainly working close to whatever lord is at attention at the time. Perhaps in charge of strategies for war, or works as a royal advisor. He’s important, but his own ego will cause some rifts. His connection to the spirit world is very weak, and that will be his down fall

Fred and George

They would have mastered combustion, and lighting bending. What do they do with such extreme skills? Cause mischief. They would more so run a fire work shop, and show you the beauty that fire can offer. Obviously they gotta be a dynamic of red and blue as well. Duh. They are always inventing, and would certainly be friends with everyone they can. Probs have Ty Lee genes in there somewhere even, and that’s how they are so charismatic. They can literally see your vibe, and know how to match it. As stereotypical as it is, they would have an extremely strong connection to the spirit world. As being identical twins. Which was perhaps how they were able to tap into such deep potential so young. They certainly are people you go to for advice. Be lucky they have that Ty Lee energy and are vibing. instead of being the next Azula

Ron

100% knows how to Lava bend. ((And of course the cliché that he would be teaching the next Avatar Fire bending/Helping master the element because duh)) But genuinely, he has a very earth bender personality. It would translate in his bending style, and a beautiful way to show he’s not like his siblings. He is just as much special, and different. He can handle his own, and out right manipulate a middle ground element. Earth benders better look out, he’s going to show you why you don’t mess with Weasleys. As for his spiritual connection, it’s faulty. Until he bonds with Hermione, and gets grounded again. He’s no where close like his older siblings, but his will to learn is what gives the realm a special place in their hearts for him. He’s trying, and that’s all that matters. In the end

Ginny

10000% Takes it to the levels of sportsmanship. Along with Jet Projection, and can manipulate her fire to help her fly. That sure startles her opponents. Though, but proxy it means she isn’t as spiritually connected as she should be. Hey, that’s what Luna is for anyway. She knows how to kick ass, even with out her fire bending. She wanted to know how to defend herself after all. Wouldn’t be a surprise if she had a Kyoshi Fan in her back pocket. She loves to learn any way to fight, and certainly learned different elements fighting styles. Able to keep her opponents on their toes, and understand how they move and work. She is proud of her power, but her connection to the spirits needs work. But, that’s where family comes in. Luna, and her brothers, will always have her back. And she will have theirs. You can count on it, that’s for sure

He was READY to be a dad. You were definitely a planned child and he made absolutely sure that EVERYTHING was perfect before you'd be born. (Only for you to pop out much after the due date)

His partner had left him when you were about 4/5 and he was motivated to be the best dad ever, even when raising you alone is a bit more challenging. His time management skills were upped for sure.

He is kinda strict when it comes to going out or for example your first relationship, BUT he does understand that he needs to let loose from time to time.

He DEFINITELY taught you self defense as soon as he deemed you ready for it. He probably also snuck you into a shooting range once or twice to teach you how to handle a firearm. Just in case.

Kyle "Gaz" Garrick

To be honest, you were not planned at all. He personally would've waited a few more years with starting a family. But just because you weren't planned doesn't mean that he doesn't love you. He is your number one supporter in ANY situation.

He understands the importance of his presence very well and wants to do a good job raising you. Being a single dad is hard, especially when he is quite young but he tries his very best.

Gaz is more on the chill side of things when it comes to your personal liberties. I mean he was a teenager not too long ago, so i think he can relate to you when you want to test your limits. BUT he is also a responsible man. He mostly let's you do whatever you want, but he is not blind to danger. He will most definitely lecture you when you cross the limits.

One of Gaz' main priorities is supporting you and your interests. You're into art? He will do anything to get you appropriate supplies! You like cars? Some of his friends work at race tracks, he'll secure you an apprenticeship for sure! You're interested in Biology? Kyle will help you save up for a scientific exchange to Brazil!

John "Soap" MacTavish

Johnny was NOT prepared for a child, but he loves you TO DEATH. He'll literally do ANYTHING for you. Soap will brag about you whenever he can, especially to his Buddy Ghost.

Random deep talks at 3 am with a cup of coffee (or a beaker of sirup, depends on your age) are a regular occurrence in your small family. "Hey, kid. Have ye ever thought about..."

Soap is overprotective asf and will be extra careful with who he lets you hang out with. This also goes for your first (or every) Relationship! Im sure he'll also ask his Buddies to keep an eye out for you.

I know for a fact that he has a video diary of your whole childhood to look back on when you're older. Your first coin from the tooth fairy, your favorite Christmas present, the first time you sat on a pony at the fair or that moment he introduced the tall and scary Ghost to you.

Simon "Ghost" Riley

He will make sure you'll have the most AMAZING childhood ever, not wanting anyone else to go trough whatever he did. He spoils you, but makes sure you don't turn out to be an entitled brat.

He is not a big talker, but he gives you gentle hugs or lets you hold his Pinky with your tiny little toddler hands. Im sure he also plays with you when you ask him to.

When you get a little bit older (Like your teen years) he starts talking more and also adresses important things like communicating your worries and feelings to him. He knows how important those few years are for your development. He will let you live your life, but he will also guide you when he deems it necessary.

Simon is definitely judgmental towards anyone new entering your life. He only wants THE BEST for his little sunshine. I think he'd be especially protective over you when it comes to romantic relationships, he knows how emotional hurt can affect a human.

his name is Ikaron, hes a trans man and cousin to Ulixes, though they're not close. i've got two paintings featuring him so far, one in martanaise during the strike when he got stuck out there intending to visit Ulixes over break and investigate the end of the radio game broadcast from there, and a second one of him working on his thesis for grad school!

he's studying radio-entroponetics and interisolary communications, with the goal of getting the towers within the pale to a state of self-sufficiency enough that they don't need someone to constantly man them and be exposed to so much pale and latitude compression (ouch). he's terrified of the pale and decided to study it really hard to hopefully become less afraid but ended up getting really into radio frequency and networks lol--

he's big into wirral and all genres of techy stuff. i'm having fun come up with the way he processes things - i'm currently working on a set of skills for him (i know thats harrys thing but ikaron can have a quiet internal dialogue too i know i do). but because of how much computer stuff he does on a daily basis he relates himself to technology a lot, says/thinks things like whether he has the bandwidth for more information or the signals got crossed in his brain.

inspired partially by [this song] he spurred himself on to research into radio tech and that sent him into his feild now. it was sort of a joint effort between the voice spouting radio jargon that seemed to cole from inside his head and his incredible fear of the pale. i imagine when he was young he heard himself years and years in the future through the fragments of entroponetic radiation between the wavelengths of the radioman's voice. he never heard that voice again but it kind of stuck with him until he heard those same words coming out of his own mouth.

Hello! I want to know how do you update so fast?! Like— you update once a day at the very LEAST! What is your secret and how can I be as productive as you?

And anyways, other than that, do you mind doing a TFP bot buddy who got a very sickly and frail frame, and who had once been a Decepticon without choice (like maybe they were raised as a sparkling by the Decepticons or something), but recently they had joined the Autobots because they knew the Autobots were doing the right things. And it had been a pretty smooth ride since, cause Buddy hadn’t been able to been on the battlefields much due to their sickness, only working in the background tech, so they luckily didn’t have much conflicts with any members in particular.

However, due to being often neglected, and even humiliated, back when Buddy was with the Decepticon for their illness, Buddy had developed a habit of hiding off their illness, and Buddy promised themself that they would never let the Autobots find out about their physical state, in the fear of slowing the Autobots down and facing the same humiliation again. And Buddy just genuinely don’t believe their illness was important enough for any concerns and attentions, anyways, expecially in the face of a war, after the years of being neglected. So they just kind of pretends to be invisible, retreat into a corner, and hope to be forgotten whenever they were sick again.

However, they couldn’t hide the sickness forever since it would just get worse. And, the Autobots, as well as the human children, would soon teach Buddy that they were safe to ask for help here, and the ages of neglection and mistreatment was behind them now.

To be honest, I don't have much advice on how to create a writing schedule. You need to experiment with something that might work for you depending on your schedule. If anything, try and have little goals to reach.

Frail Buddy needs some love from everyone.

With their illness that always left them drained of energy as well as being bit frail framed. They sent many mechs into a spiral into laughter whenever they told them that they were once a Decepticon.

Of course, it wasn’t a personal choice.

Their entire family unit had been a part of the Decepticon unit for years. They were the true definition of ruthless Con’s, but they had a soft spot for Buddy.

Their family unit within a 10-mile radius suddenly filled with a sudden urge to hurt someone.

They cared about Buddy truly, but Buddy was they only one who had enough common sense to realize that the original goal was long buried. Now the cause wanted power, not equality.

They made their daring escape after hearing that all of their family had been offlined in a freak accident with Starscream. There were never any accidents when someone went offlined on Starscream’s watch. Buddy never found out why their unit was offlined, and part of them wanted it to stay that way.

When the Autobots first saw Buddy stumble on their base they thought Buddy was some Neutral that had come to join. Definitely not some dirty Decepticon.

It took a while for the team to get used to Buddy.

But after time and the usefulness of their communication and decoding skills, they earned their spot-on Team Prime when the group had departed to Earth.

Buddy never told the team the true extent of their illness. All the team knew was Buddy was framed differently and just naturally got tired.

Ratchet was extremely amid to Buddy to have a full checkup, but Buddy had been dodging the medics for years. They were a pro at this point.

“All right Buddy it’s your turn.”--Ratchet

“Are you sure? I mean Bulkhead is looking a bit—”--Buddy

“No, I’ve already checked on him and you’re the last one on the list.”--Ratchet

“Well—”--Buddy

The alarm goes off.

“Guess we’ll have to put a pin in this for a bit. See you later Ratchet!”--Buddy

“Buddy—Never mind I’ll get to you in a bit...”--Ratchet

Buddy always went last and always placed a modified version of their results in the system.

But Ratchet was starting to pick up on this trail.

Buddy had made friends with Bumblebee and Bulkhead in their early years on Team Prime.

Buddy was a bit hesitant to even be in the same room as the Wrecker.

Not because they hated him or anything.

It was that he was so clumsy, and they were a bit fearful that one day he was going to swipe at them by accident then they would be staring at the Well of the Allspark.

But gradually through some force company, the two turned out to have a rather nice friendship. Mainly on good heart teasing and time spent together on the comms.

Bulkhead could never have imagined that he would be friends with someone that looked like they would go down with a sneeze.

“Hey, Buddy you okay?”--Bulkhead

“Yeah? Why you ask?”--Buddy

“Well, you usually look like you can be taken down by my wrecking ball with one swing. Not today though.”--Bulkhead

“Bulk most mechs that end up behind your wrecking ball end up on the ground, I’m no different.”--Buddy

“Yeah, but today you look like you can go down with me applying a bit of pressure on your helm.”--Bulkhead

“Bulk no offense you don’t exactly don’t know how much strength to apply on certain things.”--Buddy

“Like what?”--Bulkhead

“I guess… Can you at least see Ratchet?”--Bulkhead

“I’m perfectly fine Bulky. Don’t worry that helm of yours over me.”--Buddy

“Okay…”--Bulkhead

He wouldn’t question it, besides medicine wasn’t his fortitude.

Bumblebee and Buddy got along like a housefire.

It stemmed from Bumblebee being one of the few mechs wanting to get to know Buddy when they first came.

Buddy naturally latched on to the only kindness they had been shown in years.

Their friendship went on from there.

Bumblebee and Buddy have been scolded multiple times for having weird conversations on the comlines and forgetting sometimes to use their private lines.

“What do you think about the ending of the series?”--Buddy

“Beep bep bopbop bop (It was pretty decent, kind of wished there was more to it.)”--Bumblebee

“Yeah, it did feel anticlimactic. I wonder if there’s going to be another season?”--Buddy

“If you two don’t mind, everyone can hear you.”--Ratchet

He also worried a bit for Buddy’s frame at least, it looked… frail?

Buddy would always brush it off and even point to the stats.

Inner work being perfectly normal.

Bumblebee was still skeptical over it but… if the stats are correct then it shouldn’t be a problem.

Buddy was soon faced with another challenge, the humans.

Not that they were a problem, Buddy loved their new little organic friends. But sometimes they would get a little too close to the truth Buddy had been trying to hide.

Especially after June and Agent Fowler had been temporally kidnapped by Buddy’s former doctor and nurse: Knockout and Breakdown.

Now Buddy had no problems with either doctor or nurse.

In fact, they were one of the only two Con’s Buddy could respect.

Of course, they knew about Buddy’s illness.

There was only so much you could do to hide it from two mechs that always reviewed their patients, especially when it came to framework.

“Hmm… you have new denting on your sides today.”--Knockout

“Oh yeah, don’t worry about it.”--Buddy

“No, I want to know who tarnished my work.”--Knockout

“Is someone messing with you Buddy? Cause if they are—”--Breakdown

“It’s fine! Really guys it nothing! I feel fine!”--Buddy

“Look Breakdown in the optics and repeat what you said.”--Knockout

“… It was the new recruit… he shoved me into the cavern wall with a mining cart.”--Buddy

“…Good to hear, now if you’ll excuse me, I need to have a word with someone.”--Breakdown

“That mech is not going to be able to walk for a week.”--Buddy

“A month with a limp.”--Knockout

“Knockout.”--Buddy

“Fine! Two weeks with a limp.”—Knockout

Knockout had captured Fowler and June and had been talking to Breakdown when Breakdown asked him out loud to ask how Buddy was holding up with everything.

The two humans perked up hearing this.

They both had a rundown about Buddy being a con for a bit but nothing else.

“Hey Fleshy! The nurse one! You’ve heard of our ex-comrade, Buddy, right?”--Knockout

“And if we have?”—June

“June—”—Agent Fowler

“… From one medic to another, how are they holding up?”--Knockout

“What?”--June

“Oh, don’t you act all surprised. Buddy must have told you about their framework and inner works by now. I’m asking if they are all right.”--Knockout

“…”—June

“… They haven’t told you?”--Knockout

“…”--June

“Fine be like that. I didn’t care anyways.”--Knockout

“…They look like a gust of wind could bring them down lately…”--June

“June!”--Fowler

“…Thank you… June. Breakdown!”—Knockout

“Yeah?”--Breakdown

“Its not looking too good.”--Knockout

“How bad?”--Breakdown

“A measle gust of wind apparently then their going down to the Well.”--Knockout

“… Tell the humans thank you for me.”--Breakdown

“They can hear you, loud and clear.”--Knockout

Something clicked in June’s head.

Buddy had always been a bit different from the others, especially on some days that they worked stiffly and refused often to go out of the base.

When the pair had gotten rescued, they both compared their thoughts about Buddy.

They both had come to similar conclusions.

Buddy was sick, and they didn’t know.

Or

Buddy was sick and knew they were.

That second one made June feel sick herself.

June suddenly started coming by the base a bit more often and started spending a bit more time with Buddy.

Buddy just seeing this as one of their friends wanting to know a bit about themselves didn’t think too much about it.

“So how was today’s work?”--June

“Nothing too special June. And you how was work.”--Buddy

“Nothing special today. Why don’t you take a seat for a bit?”--June

“Oh, okay.”--Buddy

CREAK!

“… Sometimes the joints will act up a bit.”--Buddy

“Okay…”—June

June was secretly making notes about these interactions and how Buddy would position themselves and any noise they made.

Now all she needed was a second opinion about her thoughts.

She managed to get Ratchet to go out with her for a drive to talk about Buddy.

Ratchet felt his spark fall a little hearing the symptoms and little things June had managed to get.

It sounded like a familiar illness that had broken out a couple years before the war.

He figured that it had gone.

He feels like he should have known better.

That’s when he gets a call from Bulkhead.

“Bulkhead? What—”--Ratchet

“It’s Buddy! They just—they just—”--Bulkhead

“Bulkhead calm down what happened to Buddy?”--Ratchet

“They just… just collapsed! I don’t see any wounds or anything! The kids said they just dropped!”--Bulkhead

“Bulkhead stay with Buddy and activate the groundbridge.”--Ratchet

“You got it Doc!”--Bulkhead

Ratchet later apologized to June about nearly giving her whiplash when he turned around and sped to the groundbridge.

Buddy had collapsed while on the line with Bumblebee while he was scouting some old mining deposits. Bulkhead had gone to the other room to get something.

Bulkhead was already coming back to the main room when he heard the loud thud, he just came faster when he heard the kids screaming.

He found Buddy lying on the ground still and a frantic beeping sound from the comm center.

Quickly checked Buddy if they were injured, finding nothing just worried him more.

Physical injuries he could kind of get.

Energon leaking, try and stop it leaking.

No injury then it’s something inside.

While he was coming in Ratchet, he directed Raf to get to the comms and alert Bee what happened and try and help if he could.

Ratchet came in speeding.

June quickly got out so Ratchet could get to Buddy quicker.

“Bulkhead, grab Buddy and get them to the med bay.”--Ratchet

“Okay!”--Bulkhead

“Gently!”--Ratchet

“Okay…”--Bulkhead

“Are they okay?”--June

“I am not sure yet. The scans will at least give me some clue on what is going on. Rafael, I need you to pull up Buddy’s stats from my screen.”—Ratchet

“You got it!”--Raf

Ratchet felt his energon go cold seeing the results.

How could Buddy’s levels be so low?!

They were lower than his for crying out loud!

How could a perfectly healthy bot get levels so low without an injury?

To be honest he was surprised to see Buddy even alive with these levels. But he wasn’t going to say that out loud.

Right now Ratchet set to work to get Buddy stable.

Bulkhead hated having to tell Bee that Buddy was… he didn’t even know what was happening just that ratchet was trying to get them stable.

“Bee?”--Bulkhead

“BEEP?! Bepp boop bop beep! (Bulkhead! What happened? What happened to Buddy?!)”--Bumblebee

“I’m… I’m not sure Bee. All I know is that Ratchet is trying to stabilize them right now.”--Bulkhead

“…Bep beep. (Send me a brigde)”--Bumblebee

“Coming up… but you’re not going to like what you see.”--Bulkhead

Bumblebee had never zoomed into a groundbrigde than he did at that moment.

His spark skipped a beat when he heard the loud thud and screaming. He thought that the base had been attacked and that the kids were in trouble.

He was beyond relief when he heard Raf’s voice, until he heard that Buddy had collapsed, and they weren’t waking up.

Zipping into the groundbridge all he could do was wait for Ratchet to be done with Buddy.

When Buddy woke up, they were attacked with mini hugs from their human friends.

“Buddy!”--Kids

“Hey… You guys looked like someone died.”--Buddy

“You almost did! Don’t do that again!”--Miko

“Hehe… no promises.”--Buddy

“You better!”--Raf

“I’ll do my best then.”--Buddy

“Do better please.”--Jack

Buddy turned to see Ratchet, Bulkhead and Bumblebee watching them.

And Buddy’s true stats on Ratchet’s arm.

The secret was out.

Buddy, after a bit of hesitation, told them about their illness, it wasn’t contagious, it happened to 1 in a million.

They just so happened to be lucky million.

Ratchet gave them a little lecture about the importance of not hiding stuff like this from him.

Bumblebee further went on to say that they weren’t a burden to the team for having the illness, it was a part of them that they would accept.

Bulkhead told them that he and the team would help them with more activities that would be friendlier to their frame than the rougher things.

Buddy could feel themselves choking up on the emotions and just nodded.

“I know that was a lot to take in at once, we will be talking about this again.”--Ratchet

“Oh man…”--Buddy

“But, for now you need your rest.”--ratchet

“What about the comms?”--Buddy

“Beep? Boop bop boop (The Comms? I think we can handle the comms until up get a bit better.)”--Bumblebee

“Bee’s right. Just get some rest. You still have to tell the others.”--Bulkhead

“…Great…”--Buddy

“Yip! Yip! Enough, get some rest Buddy.”--Ratchet

“…Thank you. Everyone, thanks for everything.”--Buddy

“Your family Buddy, family looks after one another.”--Bulkhead

“Thanks…”--Buddy

For the first time in a while, Buddy slipped into a blissful recharge without any pain.

I think we're underutilizing EM fields in TF in general. I mean, we got the romantic and plantonic ways down, but:

EM fields are one of their basic communication skills, so are there differences between age groups and classes? Like newsparks and sparklings with spikey fluctuations and pure, simple emotions; emotional regulation classes/mentoring groups/buddy systems for newbuilds because it must be intense to suddenly come to life and then having to deal with everyone else around you on top of your own newfound feelings; city-states with Rules and Regulations on how, what, and when to interact as well as cultural differences and stereotypes.

(Example: Seekers are considered violent with animalistic tendencies because they mob. You don't mess with one. They group together to stand cohesively. Whereas Seekerkin look down/pity other frames for their loneliness, for how fragility of their social ties.)

We have neutral body language and expressions as well as "resting bitch face" and the "murder walk," so similar ways with fields?

Do certain castes/professions need certain training or Forged mecha have the innate talent to use their EM fields in a particular way that's a boon to their work?

The jarring sensation of someone immediately disappearing from close, personal range

Would Cybertronians find it terrifying to find a space that suddenly became quiet and silenced in every single way?

The immense clash by someone that severely outclasses you, being crushed beneath the wave of their own superiority and dismissal or sucked down in a whirlpool of pure terror (similar to killing intent in Naruto)

.....fuck. Ok, so the simple answer is Cassandra's going Nightmare King. But that "she's at my side once more" thing gives me hope that this is something else and not entirely Kristens fault. Could be the Elf side of Galacaea reacting badly to the Wolf side gaining prominence and she's trying to grab for any piece of her old self to gain a controlling foothold. On the lighter side of things, Kristen believing she's a full-on actual political candidate and trying to give a speech to steel-workers was gut-bustingly hilarious. Less light-hearted, Adaine needs to stop attacking her financial woes as a teenager and start attacking it as a wizard adventurer. And lose the crap job, a 40% discount is not worth those 8 hours she's losing every shift. She can get a lot more done with that time. But she's a kid who's trying to solve this on her own instead of the common sense move of reaching out to adults who know more. Siobhan commits to the bit, I'll give her that. Bizarely, Gorgugs 400% course load is actually is the most solvable problem. Get Digby and Wilma to tutor him and help him speedrun through the Freshman and Sophomore material and then play catch-up on the Junior year material. He might have drop the Owl Bears, he needs those hours. Fig is killing it so hard in all her classes, it would be fucking hilarious if she's the Bad Kid who graduates as valedictorian. This one ran long, sorry about that.

OK, my quick thoughts on everything before I sit down to write this recap tomorrow (I finished my notes today--geez these JY eps are LONG):

Kristen: Wild that the thing Kristen has chosen to go all in on is her high school bid for class president and not *gestures vaguely* literally anything else. Funny, but wild. My best guess until we have more info is that this is an "As above so below" thing because the wizards getting ripped and aggressive is super random except for the fact that the main things that Kristen has been doing in the past few months is getting ripped and being aggressive to Cass. But we're working with incomplete info so we'll see.

Adaine: Girl, take Aelwyn's chest of rubies and sell it for cash and buy stuff with that! Or better yet, use your Oracle/general divination powers to figure out the lotto numbers/stock futures and exploit that! Honestly, even killing your mom is a better plan that working at Fantasy Auntie Anne's!

Gorgug: :( Hang in there buddy. It's wild when everyone else is dealing with kind fantasy problems--even Adaine's thing is tinged with Fantasy what with the absurdity of the items she needs to get--and Gorgug is just dealing with…a completely regular school problem. That's rough man. I personally feel like I'd try to join a club or something to show off my skills rather than doing it on the books if this requires a 400% course load but I hope he can make it work. Though, it would also be interesting for them to do a, "There's no shame in trying and failing," storyline because man that's just so much work and that's an important thing to learn.

Fabian: If you want Adaine to be at your party then give her some of your massive pile of gold so she doesn't have to work a crappy mall job. The girl is filtering gold flecks out of discounted booze and you know that because you're the one who gave her permission to do it. Either help her or don't be sulky when she can't make your shrimp party!

Fig: Fig as surprise valedictorian has the same energy as Annie realizing she and Shirley are neck in neck for the position even though Annie is the type A control freak (this is a Community ref for anyone who's like whomst?). That would be so funny. But also, it wouldn't be crazy! Fig was super preppy before she decided to be punk. I wouldn't be surprised if her grades were always good and she's also passionate about everything she does. If she wasn't set on sticking it to the man, she'd be so so so solid.

Riz: You didn't mention him but I wanted to give him a section anyway. Hi Riz :)

Old lady on tumblr rambles again

Hi again, people younger than 30, it's your rapidly-aging-due-to-stress aunt on Tumblr.com. Our country sucks at teaching even recent history, and I'm young enough that it's still shocking to me that some of you were born post 9/11, so I'm going to muse a bit on the experience of being young in a Republican-dominated era.

The Bush II years were dark. The Iraq War started when I was a junior in high school, and I was the only person I knew who was even remotely politically aware. Back then, if you didn't "support the troops" or froth at the mouth for America, you were considered a dangerous freak. 2000-2008 was a very, very difficult time to be politically left in this country, and it was isolating and scary. Watch The Simpsons where they get sent to Guantanamo, seriously. (Honestly, watch The Simpsons from the beginning. Political satire is a great coping mechanism). My advice to you on an individual level, though the situations are not necessarily comparable, because That Fucking Guy is so much worse than even Bush II, who was one of the worst people on the planet (although a lot of the same fucking people have been syncophanting for the frothing Right this entire time! Look them up! Newt Gingrich! Karl Rove! Dick Cheney was around during Iran fucking Contra!), is: * Read books. I'm serious, you gotta do it. If you need help with attention or getting better at reading, there are kind and caring people who can do that. Please ask someone for help if you struggle with reading or attention. It's a prerequisite for getting through this with your sanity intact. You are scoffing, but I'm serious. Books. BOOKS. * Read about history. Read books by Black and Indigenous Women in particular for the most honest and incisive looks at this complex and frustrating country. Try going a whole year only reading books and articles by black women. * Find like-minded people and stick close to them. Keep your distance from people who will hurt you. If you have to interact with people you can't trust, keep it surface-level. Do not be afraid to cut ties with peers who are unsafe. There is a graceful way to do this by letting the relationship slowly die, and they don't need to know why it did. Finding like-minded people just to be friends or activity buddies with feels more achievable than "finding an organization" or "creating community." Make dinner for a few friends and talk about how you're feeling right now. Call a friend you haven't seen in a while and ask how their folks are, how their job is. Write a letter or a card to someone you love far away. * If you cannot travel for financial reasons, consume long-form media (especially independent films, books, poetry, comics, journalism, weird stuff made by other thinking and sensitive people) from other countries and other kinds of people inside your own country as much as you can. Learn another language to a deep level, it will open up your mind and world, and is just a useful skill to have. * Do not forget who you are, know what your values are, and stick to them when things are tough. When you feel like you can't fight or absorb anymore, take a break. Check out for a day, a week, a month, but as a rough guide try not to mentally check out for more than a month unless you are going through some serious shit like grieving a loved one. If you do that it will be very hard to find motivation to come back and keep doing the work.
