Your ask was very long so while I still wanted to reply to it, I put it under a cut to be considerate of other people’s dash scrolling. Hope you don’t mind. 

I think a lot of the Anon stuff is based on the “give it to me now” culture that so many people are accustomed to. A lot of the idea of being polite has all but disappeared in younger generations. I know that’s a generalization, BUT teenagers/people in their early 20′s these days are so damn entitled that it boggles my mind when I see them complaining about things on social media or witness their behavior in places like stores or at amusement parks. 

So the idea that they can hide behind an anon feature, or an online account where no one knows who they really are and make these same demands doesn’t surprise me as much as it could/should. 

I’m the same way with non-age gap content that I choose to consume. I’m open to reading new stuff from new people, but there’s definitely a group of writers that I always return to because I know what to expect from them. This is true for fic and for actual books, too. 

If you’ve (or this anon) has followed me for any length of time, you’ll know that there are certain things that I have never and will never write, and it’s for very specific reasons. The idea that my mind can be changed by sending over a snarky anon message, or making a ridiculous “suggestion” is laughable. 

Maybe it’s because they’re used to other writers 100% catering to requests. Maybe it’s because they think that their explanation will be a tipping point.

Maybe they think that every single person on this site is writing and posting because all they want is the feeling of validation that comes with high note counts and they don’t care what they post as long as people see and interact with it? 

No matter what it is, they’re not going to find that from me. 

You’re absolutely right - when a writer isn’t interested in or well informed about something that they include ... you can tell. It comes across in the writing almost 100% of the time, and I don’t want to be that person. *Could* I write age gap or daddy kink or pregnancy or angst for the sake of angst or borderline abusive relationships that are based solely on a physical connection and nothing more? 

Yes, I could - and I might be able to do it passably, and it MIGHT get me more likes and follows ... but I’m not going to. Because I don’t WANT to. 

As you said, there are people that those reading these types of things know that they can go to for this type of content. There are people you just genuinely vibe with when it comes to what they write and how they write it. Good. I’m glad that these people have their go-to accounts. That’s what those writers are there for, and it’s what they want to provide the fandom with and that’s their choice - the same way not writing those things is mine. 

At the end of the day, these anons are going to keep doing what they do, and that’s their choice, but I wish that more people would stand up for what they believe in when it comes to taking criticism or advice or writing every single request that comes their way, no matter the amount of interest they themselves have in a story or plot. 

It’s OK to set boundaries. It’s OK to tell people “nah, I’m not going to do that” - and to not explain why. I just happen to be a lot more vocal about my reasons than others.

My (now former) coworker told me I was asexual, then tumblr confirmed it. Tiktok told me I was nonbinary. Everything’s Gonna Be Okay told me I was autistic (and then my autistic online friend was surprised I didn’t already know that because they clocked me immediately just through online interactions). Now TikTok is trying to tell me I have dyspraxia which I’m like 99.9% certain is false. Whatever symptoms I have is just overlap from other issues I have, such as the above autism, PTSD, and carpal tunnel.

But it really does make me wonder what new thing I’m going to learn about myself because I live in a world where social media exists and I can interact with other people and other things and have open discussion about things I’m unfamiliar with. It’s just really neat.
