Alhaitham ;
Kaveh gaped at you when you brought a cat into the house, one that⌠looked eerily similar to a certain blockhead. âI can explain,â you say as you set the cat down on the floor, he doesnât enter the house further than you do, instead sitting down by your feet and observing the interaction with⌠interest? AmusementâŚ?Â
Kaveh didnât need much to be convinced, and immediately he thanked the Archons for giving him a few days of respite. Even just a few days of Alhaitham being unable to comment on what he does or nag him is a blessing.
For you, itâs a bit of a hassle⌠because he keeps disappearing! Not in an alarming way, because you find him again in the most secluded, quiet spots you would never even think of. Under your laundry, in an empty box that Kaveh hadnât put away after getting a delivery, and even under the desk in the studyâKaveh accidentally kicked him and got a feisty scratch on his ankle. He learned his lesson.Â
He follows you around andâthough he let you pick him up the first timeâdoesnât let you carry him around, preferring to walk on his own⌠and wander off to explore nooks and crannies he has never been able to see, but he always shows up again before you reach your destination.Â
He has also claimed your pillow as his own and refuses to let you use it, loafing on top of it exactly when you thought you could get there before him. Which⌠in hindsight is fine, youâre not opposed to using his pillow, it smells like him after all.Â
You decided to test how much of a cat he really is, whether itâs appearance alone or instinctual as well and bought a cat toy with a whisker on the end as well as a small bell below it. You expected him to perk up and try to whack or catch it as soon as you wriggled it beside him⌠but his grey furred ears just lowered in annoyance and he hopped off the kitchen counter, it seems like having even more sensitive ears in this state makes his dislike for uncomfortable noises more intense.Â
He forgave you when you spent ten minutes scratching the itchy spot behind his ears after tracking him down. A small, rumbling purr left his chest as you moved your hand to scratch under his chinâhe was, however, more curious about this instinctual reaction and demanded you continue after you drew your hand back.   Despite it being very much an unspoken rule between the two of you that neither of you should be disturbed âneedlesslyâ when reading or working at home, when you borrowed a few books from the Akademiya to try and figure out how to turn your partner back to normal, Alhaitham decided it would be very reasonable for him to lay down over your book⌠which you are very much trying to read.
But when you ask him what he needs, he just blinks at you three times, very slowly. Youâll likely never be able to crack that brain of his, even in a form that is somehow far more expressive.
Arataki Itto ;
Itâs difficult enough to keep track of himâand keep him out of troubleâon a normal day⌠now? You took your eyes off him for a second, and heâs gone. Shinobu split up with you to cover more ground while the rest of the gang scoured the streets of Inazuma City, at least as much as they could.
You peek between baskets, crates and stalls, walk through tight alleys and even squint into a few windows⌠nothing!
You had been very close to giving up and returning back to the meeting point by the bridge⌠until you heard a very distressed, very loud meowing. Following the sound, you come to a tree stretching over the gardens of a teahouse. What looks to be the owner of it stands below the tree with a basket, trying to ask Ittoâstuck up on a wobbling branchâto jump into it.
Exasperation is one way to describe what you feel as you approach the old lady, you put your hands on your hips and Itto notices you immediately. His meowing turns from frantic and panicked⌠to a sheepish pleading. Every movement he makes causes the branch to sway and wobble, and it looks like it could easily bend and breakâand you donât want to cause any trouble for the teahouse owner. âItto, come on, hop down.â
He meows and shakes his head, white fur swishing dramatically.Â
A sigh leaves you as you step closer and hold your arms open. âIâll catch you, trust me,â you encourage him⌠and he finally relents, with wobbling paws, he leaps from the branchâfur shining in the sun as he practically flies in the air towards your open arms⌠and lands on your head. He panics and tries to adjust and not fall off, and you try to pry him away from your face as his belly nearly suffocates youâitâs a scene from a comedic play.
Shinobu is glad for her mask, because when you return with Itto under your arm you have scratches on your face and forehead, and Itto is whining and meowing sorrowfully.Â
He spends the entire evening licking your âwoundsâ, dragging his coarse cat tongue over every spot so often that the licking starts to become more painful than the scratches themselves. But you let him, it makes him feel much better than youâand you donât particularly need comfort, but if he doesnât get it, he will whine all night.Â
So you let him knead your thighs and stomach even as his claws prick through your clothes and you make sure to pet him and stroke his fur when he snuggles against you⌠and then you wake up in the middle of the night, suffocating with his furred belly against your face when the lies on top of you.
Baizhu ;
Youâre very happy that Baizhu is catching a breakâsomething you often try to convince him to doâdespite the strange way of being forced into it⌠however, itâs very difficult to focus on running the pharmacy in his place by yourself while also trying to make sure he doesnât roll off the shelf heâs napping on⌠especially because Changsheng wriggles in her sleep and keeps nudging him closer to the edge.
You decide itâs easier if you have them sleeping on separate surfaces and reach up to pick up your pliant partner-turned-cat. He effectively falls into your arms and blinks lazily, slightly confused by the sudden transport. âJust moving you so you donât hit your head,â you dodge around Qiqi as she runs past you with an armful of jars and set Baizhu down on the counter, his tail sways lazily and he immediately flops on his side as a beam of sunlight sneaks through the window and directly onto his fur.
Every time a customer comes byâwith approvalâthey give Baizhu a small pet or scratch before leaving, as if paying tribute to the good doctor. He doesnât seem to mind.
Unfortunately, youâre not fit to take Baizhuâs place for consultations, and thus they all get delayedâwhich was a hell of a lot of work to contact everyone and change schedulingâuntil Baizhu is back to normal. The usual hours of consultation in the morning are therefore replaced with longer opening hours of the pharmacy and by pulling some strings, an increased stock of rarer products at a discounted price.Â
Changsheng does not let poor Baizhu catch a break, she wiggles her tail and swipes it in front of his paws, and unable to control the feline instincts harbouring his bodyâBaizhu chases after her tail like a kitten playing with a toy. He whacks at it and tries to capture it, but the white snake is far quicker than even you expected her to be as a sudden game of cat and mouse (snake) takes over your living room.
The feline form, however, doesnât come with free staminaâand Baizhu is not in good shape. He flops down on the carpet, exhausted from the play even as only seven minutes have passed. You feel a bit bad and scoop him up for some cuddling, which seems to be just the remedy he needed.Â
Baizhu is very careful around the clinic, he doesnât knock anything overâeven though he REALLY wants to sometimes, and is mindful of not getting fur or saliva on anything that could potentially be consumed by anyone with allergies. Changsheng has taken to wrapping herself around your shoulders instead, and though youâre used to her, itâs a little annoying to get a comment on every little thing you do.Â
But at the end of the day, Baizhu curls up next to you and you wake with him lying over your chest, belly to the skies and paws in the air, comfortable and content. Though you will always prefer him in his normal state, he is very cute like this.
Cyno ;
You look around the large front hall of the House of Daena, panting slightly as you try to catch your breath⌠that damn Cyno! Making you chase him across the entire city!Â
You spot some pawprints and squint as you look around⌠heâs not bringing all that dirt into the houseâyou were just going to rinse him a bit, but heâs run off! You finally spot dark and creamy coloured fur⌠perched up high on a massive decorative piece of the wall. He looks down at you with a swaying tail, completely at ease knowing that you wonât be able to catch him all the way up there.
You almost consider inquiring about one of those massive ladders the library has to reach the high shelves, it might be long enoughâŚ
But very well, he wins this round.Â
Once he turned into a cat, you were very excited about petting him, rubbing his ears and stroking his tailâbut heâs not having any of it. Sometimes, you wonder if someone stuck a firework in his ass and lit it up, because the bouts of zoomies he gets is so frequent you wondered if there was something wrongâbut you couldnât catch him to take to a vet either!Â
After the first few days, Cyno seems to calm down⌠a little. He still prefers to survey the area (your living room) from above (your bookshelf) and watch you go about your day. Itâs quite cute how his perked ears twitch every time you make a noise, as if heâs completely focused on what youâre doing.
You soon find out after stepping a bit too close to the bookshelf that he might have just been waiting to strike, because he leaps onto your head as soon as youâre in range.Â
The only reason you know heâs fully conscious in that furred head is because while you were cleaning up after dinner, you spotted him sitting next to a cup of tea that was half-filled. You tense as you watch his paw raise to knock it off. âCyno! Donât,â you try to sound scolding.
He looks up at you, he lowers his paw⌠then raises it again, making you glare at him. He lowers it again, turns away⌠you turn back to wiping the dishes and look over your shoulders after a few secondsâhis paw is raised again!
This back and forth continued until he finally knocked it over.
And then he has the audacity during the next dayâs dinner to sound like he has never been fed in his life while youâre trying to eat in peace. Meowing at you so loudly one would think he was terribly injured, eyes wide and mouth open. You hope your neighbours donât think youâre trying to starve him, or treat him horribly.
Dainsleif ;
Heâs not happy about it, he has things to doâplaces to be and investigations to make. Thankfully youâre familiar with where you were going next⌠but Dainsleif is very limited in what he can do. You decide to give him the task of scouting and sneaking around, something heâs used to doing anyway⌠but he finds that itâs much more effective to do so as a cat. His footsteps are completely silent and his senses are much sharper.
Though, he had an instinctual need to swat at a glowing orb that you found in a strange vault half-buried in a cave in Fontaine before he could stop himselfâwhich closed the two of you inside the vault. Thankfully he is now small enough that he could slip out between the bars and unlock it from the other side.
It is quite cute how his ears flattened as you walked out, as if he was sorry. Though he seemed okay after you scratched behind his ears and assured him it was okay, he was here to help you out after all! His tail swayed in satisfaction to your assurance.
You start to set down camp for the night, having just one pair of hands makes it a bit more of a lengthy process, and Dainsleif can only sit and watch as you put it together. Heâs usually quite distant, even in a relationshipâbut as you straighten from squatting to fit something down, you feel something press against your leg and see him rubbing his furry cheek against you, then walking around your legs, tail trailing behind.
Heâs usually quite wary and alert, even during the night when you try and convince him to sleepâand itâs no different now. He sits poised and ready⌠for what? Heâs a cat. But you appreciate the effort.Â
Surprisingly, heâs very active at grooming himself, the two of you usually have to bathe often anyway as you frequent dusty caves and muddy backwaters, but every time you make a stop, he sits down and starts licking his furâat first you wondered if he was frustrated by something or had hurt himself, but as you picked him up to examine for any injuries or strange patches, he just blinked at you, tongue still half-hanging out.
Dainsleif is rather laid-back when it comes to your relationship, there are times where you want to stay in a larger city for a few days or weeks in between travels, to have a soft bed and four walls around youâwhich Dainsleif doesnât mind, there are places he wants to look into where heâd prefer you are safe elsewhere. He knows where you will be and will stop by to ask if youâre ready to continue days or even sometimes a few weeks later, to which youârecharged and rejuvenatedâjump at the chance to follow him out of the city.
But now, as a cat, he doesnât leave your side for a minuteânot even when you need to use natureâs bathroom. You went into a small village in Sumeru when passing through and a vendor was particularly pressing about selling you some type of perfume that you had shown brief interest inâDainsleif had enough of you being pestered and whacked his paw at the manâs leg, hissing. He would usually be more subtle about guiding you away, but he doesnât have the presence he usually does as he is now, so he must utilise the aggressiveness given to him in feline form. You take the chance to scoop him up and hurry away before the vendor can get upset, petting between his ears and thanking him for the helpâhe rubs his cheek against yours. Heâs surprisingly more affectionate like this as well.
Diluc ;
Your nose itches⌠you try to hold backâachoo!!
Diluc jumps, claws scuttling against the ground and he leaps from his resting spot and hops down to the floor. You sniffle and shake your head. âSorry, itâs not your fault,â you stand from his chair and round the table to squat down next to him, reaching a hand out. âDid I startle you?â
He makes a âhmphâ sound, fur red as freshly bloomed roses. Diluc bumps his snout into your palm and huffs into it, you turn your hand and pet along his back. âAaah⌠youâre so cute~ so soft,â you near coo as you scratch behind his earsâ
Diluc shakes himself and ducks under your hand to walk past youâhow dare you baby-talk him?! Heâs not an actual cat! The scritches felt too nice, and his ears flicked when you cooed at himâitâs embarrassingâŚ
He sits down by the door, tail swaying lazily as a small meow leaves him. Let me out.Â
You pout, how can you not convey how cute he is? You want to rub his cheeks. But fine, you  walk over and open the door for him to slip out of.Â
Diluc likes the lounge around the fireplace in the estate, thereâs not much work he can do  while you try to figure out how to turn him backâpreferably without alerting his brother or any of the knights⌠or just anyone in general. Unfortunately, he canât hide it from the staff of the Winery as he is a spitting image of himself in cat form, and youâve caught more than three people trying to feed him expensive cheeses.Â
Itâs only in the recent days that youâve convinced him to settle down and use the time to rest and nap as much as he can, but Diluc was extremely restless at first, you had to trap him inside a room and trick him into lying down with you.
One day, Jean came by looking for him, and you had to think fast to come up with an excuse while he had just leapt under the sofa to hide. Thankfully, she didnât seem to need him urgently, so she just left a message behind and went back to her day.
You fell asleep in Dilucâs study, trying to keep up with his paperworkâAdeline offered to help you, sheâs very familiar with his work, and itâs not like itâs been a long time since he wasnât there to do it⌠but you wanted to help, and as the sun sank below the horizon, you laid down on the sofa in his study next to a tall bookcaseâonly closing your eyes was enough to pull you into deep sleep.
Diluc hops onto the sofa next to you, he carefully walks over your thighs and settles on the armrest where your head is. His fluffy tail sways and strokes your chin and noseânearly waking you as you almost sneeze, you donât have to work so hard for him, he knows you want to help. He wishes he could tell you, and he will, when heâs back to normal. For now, he rests alongside you, head leaning against the top of yours and tail tucked against your neck.
Kaedehara Kazuha ;
Kazuha is a very chill cat, he doesnât get into trouble, he doesnât cough hairballs on the floor and he doesnât knock things over.
(Instead of coughing hairballs on the floor he swats them off-deck with his paws, Beidou caught him doing it once).
Thereâs not much trouble to get into on the ocean, and heâs rather good at keeping out of trouble overall on land, sticking by his side is a sureway to a boring day of exploration or lounging aroundâwhich is your perfect type of day.
You help him into your bag as the Crux âboardsâ by Liyue Harbour (it stops a bit away and tucked by a cliffside to avoid attention) and you make sure he doesnât accidentally fall into the ocean as a few crewmates row to land. Youâre stopping for a few days, so you make sure to use the time to relax and take in landside air and wander around the expansive Harbour.Â
Kazuha likes to take life at a slower pace, and thus your walk to the Harbour took longer than you expected⌠as you thought Kazuha was doing his normal meditation on a warm, sun-kissed rock along the roadâŚ
But he was asleep, sitting up and enjoying the sun. It took you thirty minutes to realiseâa sitting cat with its eyes closed and a sleeping cat in a sitting position is the exact same.
He very much likes to people-watch, but in this cat form, he seems even more engagedâhe can hear sounds more clearly and he seems even more perceptive than usual. Watching a tea maker brew a cup on a teahouse table you had sat by to rest and ordered some snacks. He sniffs at the tea as itâs placed in front of youâheâs perched comfortably on your lap, youâre surprised the teahouse even allows him insideâand seems to appreciate the detail he gets from this new perspective, af if it smells different in this form.
He tries to taste it and your food, but you have to block his snout with your hand, youâre not sure if the food you were having would give him a stomach ache or not.Â
On a walk on the outskirts of the city, you look back and see Kazuha carrying a stick in his mouth
Heâs not a dog, so youâre not entirely sure why heâs doing it, maybe cats do that too? The dogs that hang around the bridge leading to the southeast outside of Liyue Harbour try to approach him with the stick, thinking he was playing, but he hops into a tree to keep it to himself. Youâre not entirely sure whatâs happening, but he seems to be having fun.
Kazuha wanders off oftentimes, just in his normal, usual body⌠so youâre not sure why youâre surprised when you suddenly find him missing from your sideâperhaps itâs because heâs a cat and youâre unsure if he can defend himself as well in that form, but you hurry to look for him.
You practically run in circles until you find him pressing his paw to a brown, crusty leaf⌠again and again, as if listening to the crunch of it in a rhythm. You sigh and scoop him up into your arms. âDonât wander off like this,â you scold and poke his nose. Kazuha sneezes from the poke, but blinks up at you and nods his little furry head.
Kaeya ;
Unbothered, in his element. Kaeya sleeps in your windowsill and bathes in the sunlight all day while you scratch your head over how this couldâve happened. You try to leave for work and he practically screeches at the door, likely pleading you not to leaveâhe does that normally as well, except without the loud meowing.Â
Kaeya finds appreciation in the flexibility and grace that comes with this new body, he easily leaps up on shelves and dives under the sofa, he chases flakes of dust and seems to be having quite a good timeâperhaps itâs because he has no responsibilities in this form, he canât go to work like this and has no control over it. And the loss of control is strangely freeing.Â
You scoop him up into your arms and his tail swishes happily, he grabs his claws into your shirt and purrs as you rub his ears, happy and content with the additional affection. He loves all affection he gets from you no matter what form it takes, and being a cat has given him the opportunity to be pampered in ways he never could experience as a human.Â
He does need his free time as well and he uses it well while youâre out of the houseâthough you were very optimistic to think that closing the windows would keep him contained, Kaeya easily flips the handles and slips out of your home. He enjoys the attention he gets from any passersby, but is careful not to be too affectionate and get picked up by someone who thinks heâs a stray.Â
His usual guarded front lowers in this form, he feels like he could slip out of any situationâand he doesnât have to be careful with his words or actions. No one expects a cat to have alternative intentions.Â
He jumps up in surprise as he hears footsteps rapidly approachingâhe had fallen asleep on a ledge and the sun was already down. Kaeya blinks as you pick him up, breath heaving. âThere you are, Iâve looked everywhere for you! I thought something happened when I couldnât find you around the plaza,â you sigh a breath of relief and practically crush him to your chest. Kaeya wriggles a little but gives up and nuzzles into you, pushing his forehead into your cheek.Â
After a number of days, Kaeya gets bored, as fun as lounging around and being pampered it⌠he misses real food, and dragging you away from your work to have lunchâand holding you properly, he can only lay on top of you like this, which doesnât exactly feel like holding.
And Kaeya being restless⌠he gets whiny.Â
He would usually be more subtle, but now that he feels the rush of freedom his feline form gives him, he uses it to protest by loafing on your clothes after you fold them to put away, laying over your lap when you need to get upâeven though heâs not really a cat⌠kind of, you still get the same feeling of not wanting to move him off no matter how much space heâs taking.
But thatâs okay, because he just has to slow blink at you and nuzzle into your hand and you forgive him, how could you not?
Kamisato Ayato ;
Ayato is an unreasonably pretty cat. His fur is soft and silky, he has this⌠smug kitty-smile at all times, and it makes you want to pinch his ears. He sits on your lap and peeks onto the low table inside his study as you go through paperwork. Just because heâs become a cat doesnât mean his workload just miraculously lessens.Â
Thankfully, after a few days of trying to juggle his workâhow does he do it?!âeven with him by your side, albeit in a form that canât properly communicate⌠Ayaka decides to lend a hand, she takes it upon herself to attend meetings and represent the clan and Commission in Ayatoâs stead. Thankfully no one has questioned where he is yet.
Or why there is a suspiciously similar cat trotting around the estate in his place.Â
You fish into a bush in the courtyard gardens, hand feeling aroundâuntil you find fur and yoink it up. Ayato blinks at you, tail swishing as he has a piece of grilled fish in his mouth that he stole from the kitchens. âYou know⌠you can have all the fish you wantâyou donât have to steal it,â you say as you lift him into your arms.
His ears flick as you talk, but he eats the fish happily regardless. You shake your head in mild exasperation. Looks like heâs using the opportunity to engage in⌠more mischief than usual. Perhaps a different kind.Â
Ayato likes to use his newfound stealth and agility to his advantage⌠to torment you.
You put away some laundry and turned to a shelf to fetch somethingâonly to come face to face with Ayatoâs cat-face, making you jump as he meows happilyâas if happy to see you! He knows heâs just trying to startle you!
He winds around your feet when you walk around the estate and purrs happily when you squint at him.
Ayato knows the limits, he stops before you can lock him inside a room for the remainder of the day. His fur is so soft as you pet him and a rumbling purr leaves him, he knows itâs sillyâheâs not really a cat, at least, hopefully not for long. But you keep petting and stroking him while he does.Â
He takes good care of himself on normal days, and as a cat, itâs no differentâhe grooms himself meticulously, though finds it rather embarrassing if youâre looking, so he tries to do it out of sight⌠it's very instinctual, but he also likes to feel clean and groomed.Â
You once passed the great hall and saw Thoma wriggling a toy with a bundle of feathers on it while Ayato chased it⌠it was pretty cute to watch, but you hurried along before either of them could notice you.Â
He hogs the futon, you donât want to push him to the side and get pushed to the edge of the mattress yourself. Ayato doesnât even realise heâs doing it.Â
Kaveh ;
Distressed, not having fun, he wants to go home.
A series of meows in varying states of distress and confusion follow behind you as you walk, you stop and turn around, peering down at the strange cat thatâs been following you around since you left the Akademiya. You were about to ask what he wants⌠but as you squint at the cat⌠doesnât it look familiar?
Kaveh doesnât stop when you do, he raises on his hind legs by your feet and sinks his claws into your pants, a shrill, distressed meow leaves him.
You reach down and pick him up, holding under his front legs as you inspect him⌠hm, golden fur with tints of a darker, sandy brown⌠those big red eyes.
â... Kaveh?â you must be crazy, thereâs no way your partner is a cat, and followed you around without you realising, but you know those eyes very well. Itâs him.
Alhaitham just stares at you like you grew three additional heads, he looks at Kaveh in your arms and then back at you. â... it looks like him, but thatâs not proof enoughâhave you asked him to write his name?â
You look at Kaveh and he tilts his small head to look up at you. Write his nameâŚ? He doesnât exactly have thumbs⌠but Alhaitham has a good point. What if itâs just a very persistent cat?Â
Then again⌠where would Kaveh be? Heâs usually home by this time.
Alhaitham fetches a pen and some parchment and you put Kaveh down on the table. He tries to use his paws at first but just spills ink all over the placeâbut as he grabs the pen with his mouth and clumsily scribbles his signature, Alhaitham just hums while you scoop Kaveh up again, holding him up. âIt is you! What happened to you, Kaveh?â
Of course, he canât give a proper answer, he wriggles his paws around and meows in a long dialogueâbut itâs entirely incomprehensible.Â
While you and Alhaitham try to figure out how to get him back, Kaveh tries to adjust to his⌠predicament. He doesnât do it with any grace, though⌠his leaps and jumps across furniture are miscalculated and he falls to the ground or hits his head more often than you can count.
But your worried petting and rubbing the aching area makes him purr and nuzzle into your arms.
He does hate the heightened senses, he jumps at the smallest noise and scuttles across the room if anything startles himâand he gets startled very easily like this.
Neuvillette ;
You call his name, looking around his office⌠you scratch your head, he canât have gone far, you just left to fetch some tea for a few minutes. Itâs not like he can open the door or window and slip outâwhy would he anyway?
You hear a very⌠pathetic meow, from next to youâbut thereâs nothing there, just a sofa. You hear it againâunder the sofaâŚ?
Ducking down, you see that Neuvillette is stuck, he seems to have been trying to squeeze himself under the sofa, and rounding the furniture, you see his hind legs and tail flat on the floor⌠itâs a bit amusing. âThere, I got you,â you say soothingly as you lift the sofa up a little so he can back out. Neuvillette stands up and shakes his body.
You squat down and smile. âHowâd you get stuck under there?â you hold out your hand and he presses his head into your palm, nuzzling against your skin for comfort as you turn your hand to scratch and pet him.
Heâs not very good at resisting the instincts and temptations that come with this formâyouâre unsure why he seems to struggle so much, but you try to help him as much as you can, and not laugh.
You saw him chase a shadow, there is an ornament on the raised blinds that hang above the large window in his office. It's attached to the strings that lower and raise them and it sways slightlyâcasting a shadow across the floor.
Another time he was grooming his fur and struggling, he has a thick, long coat and had to lean far back to reach the end of his fur as his tongue dragged along the hairs⌠causing him to roll backwards off the arm of the couch and into the pile of pillows.
Innocent, small things that make you smile, but youâre careful that he doesnât see it.
He loafs over a stack of court documents as you organise his deskâmight as well use the opportunity to clean up while he wonât be making a mess. He doesnât seem satisfied with his place on the desk and stands⌠and spots a box on the ground, itâs stacked halfway with old documents to be taken to storage⌠but it also looks like the perfect spot to rest. He hops down from the desk and circles a few times on the papers to get comfortable. He wriggles a little before sitting down.
It takes him a minute to realise that he was kneading into the paper when he hears the sound of it tearing under his claws in an instinctual need to make the bottom of the box comfortable.Â
Safe to say, he was mortified to have destroyed the top four documents, but thankfully they werenât shredded and you managed to salvage them with some memory of what had occurred as well as piecing them together.
Tartaglia ;
You look towards the window above the kitchen counter, cold air brushes into the house as Childe enters through itâwith a mouse in his mouth.
You leap up and push the book in your hand against his face and push him straight back outside. âNo! Absolutely not! Leave it outside, not in the house!!â You close the window behind him and sigh in relief, brushing stray snow into the sink. When you look up again, Heâs sitting there, big eyes and ears flat against his head⌠but no mouse.
Sighing, you open the window a smidge so that he can step inside, where he shakes himself and tosses flakes of melting snow all over.Â
Childe sits down, tail swayingâas if waiting for something.
You set your haps on your hips. âWhat?â
âMrrowâŚâ he wriggles his head, he wants a pat.Â
⌠fine, just because he took the mouse outside because you âaskedâ, you raise your hand to stroke his head and he tilts it to lick your palmâbut you pull back. âNo, you just had a wild animal in your mouth, wash your mouth!â
What is this?? He feels like a criminal, all he did was bring you a prize⌠to be fair, he realised how silly it was to bring you a dead animal when you leapt up to push him back out, but it felt completely natural up until that point!
He whines and meows for forgiveness for the rest of the night, and you do eventually âforgiveâ him and let Chile lounge around on your lap while you pet him and continue reading.
He picks fights with swaying curtains, chases your broom when youâre cleaning and even whacked your cup of coffee off the dinner tableâspilling it everywhere. Heâs a nightmare in this form, because no matter the scolding, he just stares at you with excited, large eyes and a swaying tail.
Nothing you say gets through his head. In one ear and out the other.Â
He does not give up either, if he wants affection, he will get it one way or the other, even if he has to whine and meow endlessly, follow you aroundâfake a limp! You shake him a bit after he worried you and you almost went out in the middle of the evening through the snow to take him to a vet when he just wanted scritches.Â
In all fairness⌠this is just typical behaviour, but now he has the kitten eyes to break your self control and composure within seconds.Â
Thoma ;
He tries to do his job even in cat form, using his tail to sweep, he even takes his duster into his mouth and tries to sweep on surfaces heâd usually need ladders to reach, and now he can just leap to them.
But he also has a problemâŚ
He has an instinctual need to create a mess, knock things over or sit on thingsâwhen he catches himself in an act of pushing Ayakaâs discarded tea off a table, he nearly leaps away to stop himself.Â
Thankfully, everyone around him doesn't mindâand itâs a bit relieving to see that Thoma retains a sense of himself. He finds time where he would usually go into town to instead napâand the Kamisato estate has perfect napping spots. He lies sprawled across the engawa surrounding the eastern part of the estate near the back gardens, and lets the warm beams of the sun warm his bellyâonly to shoot up in surprise when he hears footsteps, embarrassed to be caught lounging around.Â
Ayato sometimes plucks him away to keep on his lap for hours while he sorts through paperwork, petting and scratching behind his ears while his other hand signs documents. Thoma gets a bit restless just loafing on his lordâs lap and meows in relief when you come along to fetch him.Â
Ayaka leapt at the opportunity to sew a few accessories for him, guised under the excuse of âpractise for smaller bodiesâ and Thoma ends up with half a wardrobe by the end of the week.Â
But he prefers to be around you, you donât trap him on your lap (even though Ayato gives very good scritches) or make him model for three hours (even though Ayaka gave him snacks). As you work around the estate, he gets tiredâcurse this cat body and itâs perpetual need for napping!âand you tuck him gently into your eri*. Thoma lays nestled against your chest warmly, his body light and still as you continue your work.Â
The gardens of the Kamisato estate is a disaster zone, and after the first few days, thoma knows to avoid it.Â
He had strolled past, early in his transformationâand been startled by his own reflection in the pond he passed by, the fish swimming away in a hurry as he ran across the gardens in surprise. A second time, he had spent twelve minutes chasing a butterfly while Ayato watched with a signature smile⌠he will likely not let him forget it.Â
Thankfully, heâs not needed much in the gardens, and he sits perched atop a high shelf in the kitchens, his tail sways as he leans forward⌠very much ready to leap and steal some foodâbefore you pluck him up and raise an eyebrow.
His ears flatten in realisation, but you rub his cheeks and tuck him back into your clothesâgrabbing some leftover pears from the dessert the kitchens were making, letting him munch on it while you get back to work.Â
Venti ;
You didnât think Venti could become even more of an airhead on a typical day as he does when he becomes a cat. He gets distracted by the smallest things and wanders offâleading to a wild goose chase where you have to ask around for a small darkly coloured cat with blue highlights on its ears and tailâa very distinct cat!âand being pointed in every direction possible.
Only to discover him napping in a crate full of apples in an alley you walked past at least six times just in the last fifteen minutes.Â
He is also very vocal, Venti says anything that comes to his mind⌠which is unfortunately nothing but meowing nonsense to your ears, but you nod along as if you understand, having a halfway conversation with the lively cat.Â
Somehow, he very much likes to play and nap like heâs being paid to do it at the same time. In one moment, heâs swatting at your clothes and trying to get to play with your fingersâwhich he accidentally bites and scratches in his excitement, quickly rectifying it with some licks and nuzzlesâand the next, heâs passed out cold in a box or on a shelf for five hours.
He doesnât seem embarrassed by these new catlike instincts, such as the need to groom himselfâhe even starts grooming you halfway through his coat, youâre sure your skin is very much clean by the time he finally turns back to himself.Â
Unlike normal cats, who move and settle down elsewhere when the person under them gets up⌠Venti is not happy about being disturbed nor that youâre trying to get up, he whines and kneads on your clothes to try and get you to stay a little bit longer, giving you the best big kitten eyes he can muster.
And damn him, it works. He knows what heâs doing.Â
You had been looking for him one morning, thinking he just wandered off again and youâd find him napping in some corner of the city⌠when Diluc approaches you with a sheepish looking Venti-cat, holding him by the scruff of his neck. âThis yours?â
Diluc doesnât even seem surprised that the bard is a cat. At least he isnât an allergy risk when heâs human-like and trying to get into his wares.Â
Wanderer ;
He is very aware of himself, he knows he looks stupid (cute) and that everything he does will be looked at through the lens of a typical cat and not someone stuck in its body.
And thus, he does all he can to be as eerie and unnatural a cat as he can be.
He doesnât make a single sound, no meowing, no purring, nothing. He doesnât walk like a catâthankfully he doesnât walk on two legsânor does he exhibit any of their typical behaviours.
At least, that was the plan.Â
Every single time Wanderer catches himself doing anything that could be considered âcat-likeâ, such as grooming himself, chasing a loose string, or gods forbid⌠kneadingâhe will immediately stop and compose himself again.
As opposed to some others, he absolutely hates the loss of control that follows becoming a cat.Â
He canât write properly, he canât communicateâand if he tries, no one but you and perhaps Nahida takes him seriouslyâheâs always sleepy and aware at strange times⌠he hates it!Â
And once when he was just trying to have some grapes for snacksâyou suddenly leapt towards him to stop him, taking the bowl off the table with a relieved huff when you noticed he hadnât swallowed any of it⌠after you pried the grape out of his mouth. At his hissing, you explained that cats canât have grapes.Â
He gave you the cold fur-shoulder for at least two days.Â
You brought him out one time to get some fresh airâsince heâs fully aware of himself, he shouldnât run off and get lost, or into a dangerous situation like an indoor cat might. But when you gave some other cats around the streets of Sumeru attention, he quickly meowed in protest and whacked the other cats away.Â
Itâs a bit cute⌠he doesnât normally act so forthcoming, and as he bumps his head into your knee afterwards, you rub his cheeks and pinch his ears despite further protest. How cute!
Wriothesley ;
At first, you werenât even sure if Wriothesley was just a âcatâ. Heâs huge*.Â
You put a bowl in front of him, filled with foods that are okay for cats to eat but also not⌠gross, as Wriothesley is very much aware in that cat-head of his. âCâmon, thereâs nothing wrong with this, I even tasted itâitâs a bit bland âcause we canât put any seasoning, but itâs food.â
He leans down, and for a second you think that heâs going to eat itâbut as his whiskers brush against the sides of the bowl, he lifts his head abruptly and swats at the bowl, clattering it to the groundâhe didnât mean to hit it at all, but also not this hard.Â
You scratch your head, you just canât figure out why he wonât eatâyouâve tried everything!
It took you several hours of back and forth questions and meowing to realise that it was the shape of the bowl that was the problem and not the food itself.
On another day, you reach down to pet his soft, thick furâonly to get a static shock, it zaps your fingers and both of you jump back. You always have to be careful with petting him, as thereâs always a risk of getting zapped at any time. Worst part is, itâs not even every time! It catches you off guard!
He likes to climb and jump on the pipes that web around the fortress, getting into places heâs never even considered beforeâand sometimes you look around for him for hours before giving up⌠only to suddenly be leapt on from above by a nine kilogram heavy cat half your size, knocking you over.
Siegwinne noticed that he had been brooding lately, he had been stuck as a cat for five days now and it was beginning to frustrate him. So she decided to soak a small blanket in tea mixed with catnipâafter it was dry and she rubbed some more on it, she laid it out in his officeâŚ
You watched him for a good long while as he rubbed against it, meowed and rolled on the blanket. It was unbearably adorable, but you eventually pulled him away after a whileâworrying it might be too much.
Heâs so large that itâs almost like sleeping with a person, just a very furry one. He lies halfway over you and as you wake in the morningâhe refuses to get up. You give in and relax in bed for a while⌠until he starts kneading your cheeks, leaving small scratches with his big paws and claws. You donât stop himâit doesnât hurt, he looks so focused, like heâs trying to squeeze something out of your cheeks.Â
Xiao ;
He meows and wriggles in your arms, but you try your best to hold him until you reach the top of the innâhe swats at you and you finally let him go when you enter his usual reserved room. Despite being paws up when you let go of him, Xiao lands perfectly and immediately hops up to the highest vantage point in the room he could reach.Â
You donât get him down by yourself, he only comes down willingly after a few hours when heâs calmed down and adjusted a bit to this form. Youâre not entirely sure what happened, you had just been exploring a cave that was strangely entwined with a temple of sorts, when a bright light appeared behind you, and Xiaoâwho had been accompanying youâwas suddenly a cat. A very small cat.Â
He loafs on the windowsill in the night, his tail wrapped around his paws as he peers towards the skyâat the slightest noise, his ears flicker towards it and he squints at the roads below that pass and surround the large inn.Â
 He is unbothered. Firm. Stoic.
⌠after getting wet under a pouring rain that persisted all day, he pretends not to be bothered by his wet fur and the uncomfortable existence he leads under this blanket of wet furâŚ
But he can only pretend for so long. You turn away and pretend to busy yourself to allow him some privacy to reluctantly lick along his fur and smooth it down, trying to clean or groom it in a way that makes it less sloppy.Â
He hates it, this weird satisfaction that comes with this very primal instinct, and yet, he does still feel the satisfaction.
Xiao is difficult to read on an average day, heâs very used to controlling his emotions and maintaining a front thatâs difficult to get past.
But as a cat⌠heâs an open book, he approaches you with a curled tail, he slow blinks at you when you drag your fingers through his fur as he loafs on the windowsill.Â
 But he does. Not. Meow.Â
Except for that time you hauled his ass back to the inn⌠and when Zhongli makes a sudden appearance, he hops from his perched position and snakes around the former Archonâs legs, purring and meowing as heâs being petted and spoken to. He doesnât notice his own behaviourâŚ
Not until the following night after Zhongli leaves, and Xiao is mortified that he behaved like an affection-depraved cat in front of Morax.
Thankfully you sliding a comb through his fur and untangling some knots from the day distracts and calms him down in the evening.
Zhongli ;
At first, you werenât even sure if Zhongli was actually aware he was a cat, he follows you around, sits on a bench and licks his paw to clean it while you shop for groceries⌠he chases anything shiny that you come across and swats at it with his paws, leaps at it and tries to capture itâusually rocks or mora people drop. Maybe he likes the mineral, maybe itâs the shine. You canât really know.
You try to give him some nice food, cut down nicely so he wonât accidentally choke on it⌠but he wonât eat it, not unless you plate it properlyâŚ? At least, when you rearranged it better and separated the meats from the greens, he seemed to like it more. Maybe he thought you were treating him a bit too much like a pet rather than a partner thatâs unfortunately become a cat for a (hopefully) limited time.
After a long day of⌠not doing much, Zhongli realised he had left scratches on the sides of some furniture and he tries to hide or cover them up for the time being, dragging a blanket over the arm of a divan in the living room⌠hopefully you wonât discover them and he can fix it after heâs back to normal before you notice.
You do notice that he very much prefers specific textures, he doesnât like walking on the hardwood floor of your home and instead prefers to lie down or sit on blankets or the silken sheets in your shared bedroom.Â
Despite the strange predicament, Zhongli is very calm, heâs both patient and has a good senseâif this was a dangerous curse or spell that was difficult to reverse, he would likely sense it. Instead, he considers using this time to show and receive affection in a way you havenât been able to before.Â
He often sits by your legs or thighs, he winds around them and rubs his furry cheeks along your clothes and pretty much anywhere he can reach. Your legs when heâs winding around them, your hand when you reach out to pet him, your cheek when he stands on your chest when youâre trying to read in bed before sleeping.Â
He purrs and cuddles with you, laying in your arms or over your lapâhe even hid in your bag once when you went out for the day, and you discovered it too late to take him back home (you did wonder why your bag felt heavier than usual) and thus, he has the pleasure of accompanying you to your workâsomething he doesnât often get the excuse or time to do.Â
Thankfully, Hu Tao didnât question it when you came to her and said that Zhongli couldnât come to work for a few days (hopefully just a few days). If anything, she sighed in relief and said something about him finally using his paid time off and sick days. Then thanks you for taking him out of commission???Â
You pour over some scrolls and papers to try and figure out how to turn Zhongli back, and he hops onto the desk in the study, nuzzling against your arm before sitting down, tail swaying as he joins you in searching for ways to bring him back to you in a more familiar form. Despite how cute he is like this.Â
* eri is the collar-flap on the front of a kimono/yukata that crosses over the chest, he's tucked into it and lying on his back. if you know about the nioh cat clock scene, yeah.
* wriothesley is supposed to be a maine coon type of cat, just huge and heavy. but not wild cat huge.

Eddie Munson x Best Friend!Reader
Summary: You never meant for Eddie to know that you had a crush on him. What happened when he found out, courtesy of Mike Wheeler's big mouth?
WC: 2.6k
Warnings: smut (18+ only, minors DNI), angst to fluff to smut and then back to fluff?? I don't even know, idiots in love, p in v, semi-public sex (we get it on in the van, baby)
Part of @cherrycolored-punk's Softember event!
Divider credit to @saradika
Friday, May 16, 1986: the day you determined that Mike Wheeler was the worst.Â
You tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, it couldnât be easy growing up in Nancyâs perfect shadow. Just the time you spent working with her on the school newspaper was exhausting.Â
That was where you were currently sprinting from, weaving through the empty hallways towards the drama room. Leave it to Nancy to schedule an emergency newspaper meeting on a Friday afternoon.Â
âSorry, sorry, sorry.â You kept your head down as you breezed into the Hellfire meeting. Even without looking, you could feel the guys glaring at you. The only thing less forgivable than missing a campaign was interrupting one.Â
Gareth let out a huff, crossing his arms over his chest. âNice of you to join us, Lady Atwood.â He shifted forward in his seat. âYouâre in luck todayâour fearless Dungeon Master has yet to grace us with his presence.â
You wrinkled your nose, only then noticing that Eddieâs throne remained empty. âWhere is he?â
From his spot at the table, Mike Wheeler scoffed. âSurprised you donât know, considering youâre basically in love with him.â
You were about to refute his statement, or at least give him a well-deserved middle finger, when you heard a clattering behind you.Â
Like metal hitting the floor tiles.
No. No, no no noâŚ
âS-Sorry.â Eddie stammered. He quickly scooped up the tin lunch box that doubled as a place to stash his weed. âI had a last-minute deal. Apparently thereâs a party at McKinneyâs house tonight and he needed some, uh, provisions. So, uh, yeah.â He cleared his throat, eyes darting around the room and looking at everyone except for you. âWe can get started.â
There might as well have been a spotlight beaming down, accentuating the embarrassment written all over your face. Everyone in Hellfire knew about your crush on Eddie, but they had the decency to keep it a secret.Â
Everyone except for Mike Wheeler, apparently. God, you wanted to squish that little shit like a bug beneath your shoe.
It certainly didnât help that Eddie kept glancing at you, even when he addressed the group. Like he was waiting for you to say something about Mikeâs comment. Waiting for you to refute it, to roll your eyes and whip out a snappy comeback. Maybe he was even hoping you would.
He was probably internally cringing just thinking about you having romantic feelings for him.
âLady Atwood?â
Your gaze instinctively snapped over to Eddie when he said your name. He was looking at you, brown eyes wide with anticipation of your response.Â
Warmth crept up your neck. He had heard what Mike said about you being in love with himâhe had to have. Heâd just had the good grace to brush over it becauseâŚ
Because he didnât feel the same way and didnât want to cause you any further humiliation.
âY-Yeah?â You choked on the word, trying to put the incident behind you. But you couldnât, because the pain of unrequited feelings kept yanking on your heart, drawing tears that you desperately wished would evaporate.
âGareth the Great has proposed battling the demogorgon.â There was a hint of a smirk on Eddieâs lips. It was your first clue that the move would prove entertaining, perhaps at your characterâs demise. âWeâre waiting for your input.â
Nodding, you chewed the inside of your cheek and studied the board. Okay, it looked like winning the battle was feasible, though a bit risky. The rest of the club watched as you contemplated; Gareth especially was practically vibrating with anticipation.
Then the ceiling started leaking. Soft drops with no particular rhythm, landing on your cheeks. Just your luckâfirst Mikeâs big mouth spilled your secret, then whatever nastiness was living in Hawkins High Schoolâs pipes was now seeping into your skin.
âHoly shit, is she crying?â
Dustin Hendersonâs voice broke into your thoughts. His tone, for possibly the first time since youâd met him, held only concern with a note of snark.
Who was crying? You were the only girl in the club now that Ronnie had graduated, save for the times Erica Sinclair served as a substitute. Which meantâŚ
âWay to go, asshole.â Lucas thwacked Mike across the chest.Â
âI didnât know he was there!â
The purple fabric of your shirt darkened beneath your arms as another disconcerting flash of heat hit you. You wanted to crawl into a hole and die. Maybe youâd get lucky and the floor would open beneath you and swallow you up.Â
âI need to get some air.â Whether you spoke the words aloud or said them silently to yourself, you werenât sure.Â
Your feet seemed to carry you out of the room and through the schoolâs front doors. Tears blurred your vision, and you swiped them away before any other lingering students could see.Â
The air was warm, teasing of the approaching summer. God, summerâyou always spent it with Eddie, lounging by the public pool or sitting down at Lovers Lake. Youâd read a book while he pored over his Hellfire notebook, scribbling notes for future campaign ideas.Â
Would he still want to do that, to spend those long days with you, now that he knew about your pathetic crush?Â
It wasnât until you reached the parking lot that you remembered: Eddie drove you to school that morning. If you started walking now, youâd definitely get home before dark. Or maybe you could call your parents from the payphone if you managed to scrounge up the changeâ
The sound of your name stopped you in your tracks. You shouldâve kept walking the moment you saw Eddie, his frizzy curls bouncing as he jogged over to you.Â
âHey.â His hand brushed yours, though you pulled away before he could grab ahold of it. âWhere are you going?â
âHome.â
He sighed. âOkay, let me rephrase that: Why did you leave? Because of what Wheeler said?â Eddie let out a small, disbelieving laugh when you nodded. âHeâs such a little shit. Always messing with me. Iâm gonna kick his sorry ass one of these days.â
Your eyebrows shot up. Messing with Eddie? âWhat are you talking about?â
âThat joke about you being in love with me. He obviously saw me in the doorway and said it to embarrass me.â A blush crept onto Eddieâs cheeks. âYâknow, âcauseâŚâ
But you didnât know. You had no idea what he meant. And as much as Mike was a menace, he seemed sincere when he said he didnât realize that Eddie was there.Â
âBecause why?â
âBecause,â Eddieâs gaze shifted to his vanâs tires before he finally looked at you again. âBecause he knows I have this dumb crush on you, and he thinks itâs hilarious to fuck with me about it.â
Words evaded you. This had to be some sort of elaborate set-up. Eddie had a crush on you? When girls like Chrissy Cunningham and Heather Holloway lived in the very same town?Â
Impossible.Â
Not privy to the argument playing out inside your headâthank GodâEddie babbled on. âI know itâs weird. Thatâs why I havenât told youâwell, until right now. And Iâm starting to regret it, because youâre looking at me like I have three heads. So maybe Iâll just shut up now.â
âNo.â Summoning all of your courage, you took his hand in yours and managed a smile. âEddie, Mike was teasing me because I like you. More than a friend should like a friend.â
Eddieâs tongue darted out to wet his lips. âWhat if I told youâŚI donât want to just be friends?â
You let your eyes meet his. âI-I donât want to just be friends, either.â
He took a pause before he asked his next question. Your heartbeat thrummed in your ears as you waited for him to speak.
âAnd what if I did this?â One palm, callused from years of guitar playing, cupped your cheek. Eddie moved closer, his nose bumping against yours in a clumsy attempt to close the gap between you. âShit, thatâthat was supposed to be suave.â
âShut up and kiss me, Munson.â The words left your mouth before you could think them through. Your fingers tangled into his hair, pulling him back towards you and finishing what he had started.
His lips, soft and tasting vaguely of the cigarettes heâd smoked after school, crashed into yours. One hand snaked around your waist and pressed you against him until you felt his metal belt buckle through your shirt.
You moaned softly, letting his tongue into your mouth without hesitation. More, more, moreâŚyou needed more. You needed all of him.Â
It was Eddie who broke the kiss, much to your chagrin. But what he said next made up for the loss.
âSorryâŚIâm trying to be a gentleman. But itâs, uh, getting a little hard.â He chuckled, stealing another quick kiss. âPun very much intended.â
A quick glance proved that Eddie wasnât lying: His erection tantalizingly strained against his fly. What you wouldnât give to feel him inside youâŚ
âYâknow, take you on a date, tell you how pretty you look,â Eddie continued, shifting his stance in a pitiful attempt to quell his desire. âI donât wanna go at it in the school parking lot like some feral rabbits.â He waved his hand haphazardly.Â
You bit your lip, weighing your options. A date would be nice; perhaps a night at The Hawk, his arm around you as a movie played on a giant screen. Or maybe heâd take you to dinnerânothing as expensive as Enzoâs, but somewhere more romantic than your usual Bennyâs hangout.Â
A date with Eddie was something youâd only ever dreamed of. But right now, you needed to live out a different fantasy before you combusted from an overload of lust.Â
âRemember the first campaign you created this year?â Your soft voice held a sultry air despite your nerves. âIt was your most sadistic one yet. We were all ready to forfeit, but you took pity on us and gave us a hint.â
Taking a deep breath, you plunged your hand into his front pocket. âDo you remember what you said?â
Eddie shook his head. âI canât remember my own goddamn name right now, Sweetheart.â
You laughed, your finger hooking around his keyring. âYou said that sometimes, itâs better to work backwards.â
With a triumphant grin, you plucked the keys from his pocket.Â
âYouâre gonna be the death of me.â His own smile betrayed his exasperated exterior as he grabbed your hand. His van seemed a million miles away, though it was parked in one of the closest spots in the lot.Â
Eddie yanked open the back door, waiting just long enough for you to get settled before he scrambled in behind you. The moment the door closed, he pulled you on top of him.Â
You could feel him, feel his hardness, against your core. You rolled your hips instinctively, savoring the friction.Â
Hands clamped down on your denim-covered thighs. âYou gottaâŚyou canâtâŚâ Eddie choked, struggling for words. âWeâre already about to do it in my van. I donât wanna look even more pathetic by coming in my pants.â
Warmth blossomed in your body. You could imagine him sputtering out a stream of swear words as he came, flooding his own boxers with his release.Â
Maybe another day.Â
Buttons were undone, flies were unzipped, clothes were discarded into a pile in the corner of the van. It was only you and Eddie, not a single scrap of fabric between you.Â
Sweat glistened on his chest, matting down the sparse hairs that curled around his nipples. You leaned in, kissing just above the demon head tattoo etched on his pec.Â
âBaby,â he crooned. The new pet name wasnât lost on you. Your heart beat faster, a butterfly frantically flapping its wings. âBaby, I need you.â
He did need you, unless he was going to take care of his achingly hard cock by himself. The pink tip leaked with pre-cum, and if you had more room, you would have licked it clean off.Â
You settled for swiping it away with your thumb, his abdomen tightening at the sudden contact. Eddie nearly passed out on the spot when you sucked on your finger, savoring the salty taste.
âBaby,â he groaned again. âI w-wanted to get you off first, âcause I know Iâm not gonna last like this.â
âSâokay.â You lined him up with your entrance, ignoring the way your hands shook as you slowly sank down onto him. His hips bucked up almost of their own accord. âF-Fuck, EddieâŚâ
Eddie looked up at you, brown irises wide. He paused for an extra moment; maybe he really had forgotten his own name. âI know, I know,â he said finally. âGod, I fucking know, baby.âÂ
His thumb found your clit the second he composed himself, rubbing delicate circles until your toes curled. His other hand held you with just enough force to keep you stable while still being able to ride him.
âYouâre so beautiful.â He let out a breathless laugh. âIf I wake up and this was all a dream, Iâm gonna be pissed.â
You shared the same thought. What if the Eddie laying before you, curls splayed against the worn carpet of his van, groaning your nameâyour nameâwas all a mirage? Another fantasy conjured up by your lovesick brain?
âIâve never had a dream this good before.â
âMe either,â he admitted, âbut the only ones thatâve come close involve you.â
You tightened around him, your hands flush against his chest. The fact that you occupied his thoughts, unconscious or otherwise, sent a wave of arousal rolling through you. You wanted to hear every last detail of those dreams, to know exactly what turned him on.
Maybe later. Right now, your focus stayed on the way he touched you. So intentional, so precise. And Eddie worked you through your orgasm, keeping his same rhythm as you came around him.
âThere you go, pretty girl. Thatâs it,â he murmured. ââM close. Where do youâwhere can Iââ
âInside.â Youâd never been more grateful to be on the pill.Â
Eddie let himself go, unleashing a torrent of desire. He thrust into you, chasing his own release now that he knew youâd gotten yours.
It was only when he slowed his pace, milking the last drops of cum from his cock, that reality began to settle in.
You just had sex with your best friend in the back of his van, a few hundred feet away from where your friends were gathered around a DnD boardâ
âOh my God, Eddie!â Your eyes snapped open in realization. âHellfireâtheyâre still there.â
Eddie pulled you closer and kissed your forehead. You relaxed into his chest. âTheyâre smart guys when theyâre not being idiots.â The words vibrated against your skin. âIâm sure they figured out that we werenât coming back.â
He sighed, wrapping one arm around you. âCan I take you on that date now, baby? Yâknow, once we get dressed.â He smirked. âWe can go to Scoops Ahoy and split a sundae. And then, if you want, Iâll take you back to my place and undress you again?â
You scrambled for your clothes almost as quickly as youâd shed them, Eddie following suit. And as much as you wanted to have sex with him again, to really take your time and cherish each second, you were equally excited to cuddle up in a booth and share some ice cream.
Friday, May 16, 1986: the day Mike Wheelerâs lack of filter didnât completely backfire. Because it was also the day that you and Eddie Munson became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Wonderful freedom
In a long time there used to be a group of demons that lived in the human world. They were extremely lustful demons but sadly their bodies were not attractive to them. These demons that craved hot bodies came to the human world. They often lured many humans into falling for their sweet offers. Humans who fell for their sweet offers would eventually have their bodies snatched away. These demons would then possess humans.
Legend also says that it was so greedy for male genitalia that it didn't care whose body it belonged to. Kings, royalty, knights, peasants, and many others were possessed by the demon and used for sexual purposes.
Fortunately, at one point, the world of those demons was sealed off by a group of people with special powers, and the stories of demons possessing human male bodies were gradually forgotten.
When he finished reading, Brandon closed the book. âThese legends are so ridiculous, where in the world would there be demons possessing men for sexual purposes?â Brandon complained about the collection of stories he had rented from a bookstore.
The handsome young man, Brandon, put down his book and prepared to go to the library to return the boring book he had borrowed.
Shortly after Brandon returned the book, he began wandering around the large library, looking for interesting books to take home and read.
But suddenly the library became dark. Even though he wondered what was going on, he continued walking to find the book he wanted to read. He walked back and forth in the darkness where he could see things.
After a while, he found a strange-looking book. It was a black book with an eye in the middle. At first, Brandon thought it was just a fancy book with just plain paper inside.
But as he was about to walk away, his mind felt strange, as if his body was being led to open that book, his mind ordered it to be that book, he slowly walked over to touch the book, when he picked it up, he felt that something was definitely going to happen, but he still couldn't stop himself from opening the book.
When he opened it, he looked inside, there were countless unknown characters, and those characters slowly floated out, they gathered together and turned into a large smoke, as the large smoke in front of him rushed into his body, a large amount of smoke entered his body through his mouth, causing Brandon's body to twist, his muscles twitched, and his eyes rolled back.
The book cover slowly crawled into the smoke, and the strange-looking book turned into an ordinary book.
Brandon's body, which was inhaled by the strange smoke, slowly twisted his muscles and moved his neck a few times before speaking with an evil smile, "I confess, I'm free now. That stupid seal only locked me for a few hundred years. Do you think I can't wait?"
A demon that desires a human body like mine can live for hundreds of thousands of years, it wouldn't know. The demon possessing Brandon replied yes as his body rubbed against it. "Wow, it seems I hit the jackpot, this body is insane, these muscles are making me horny," a large tent formed between Brandon's legs.
But unfortunately, I don't have enough power. I'll let this guy control his body for now while I take my time to recover and devour him. Haha, after speaking, Brandon's eyes rolled back and forth, he regained control of himself, and he couldn't remember anything about the strange book. "What happened? Oh yeah, I got the book from the library. Oh, I can't remember. Never mind, let's go home."
After that, about a month passed. ŕšŕ¸ŕ¸Łŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸łŕ¸Ľŕ¸ąŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸ąŕšŕ¸ŕ¸Şŕ¸ŕ¸˛ŕ¸˘ŕš ŕ¸ŕ¸˘ŕ¸šŕšŕšŕ¸ŕ¸ŕšŕ¸˛ŕ¸ŕ¸Ťŕ¸Ľŕ¸ąŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸˛ŕ¸ŕ¸ŕ¸łŕ¸ŕ¸¸ŕ¸Łŕ¸°ŕ¸Ąŕ¸˛ŕ¸ŕ¸ąŕšŕ¸ŕ¸§ŕ¸ąŕ¸ ŕšŕ¸Ąŕ¸ˇŕšŕ¸ŕšŕ¸ŕ¸˛ŕ¸Łŕ¸šŕšŕ¸Şŕ¸śŕ¸ŕšŕ¸ŕ¸Ľŕ¸ŕš ŕšŕ¸ŕ¸ŕšŕ¸ŕ¸
âAhh, what happened?â Brandonâs body didnât listen to his commands, it started moving on its own without his control, his muscles tensed, his penis hardened uncontrollably.
His hands were rubbing his body, now Brandon's mind was spinning, instead of being afraid, his mind was enjoying this feeling, the feeling that something was slowly taking over him, his eyes rolled back, that was the last time the real Brandon was conscious, suddenly his eyes returned to normal.
I'm so horny
The devil has taken over Brandon's body.
Okay, I have to deal with my hard cock first. One hand unzipped my pants and pulled out my big, thick, long cock from my pants.
His thick hand lightly touched the large cock, the other hand played with the nipple that was on his shirt. The moans of a man possessed by a demon echoed throughout the room that only he could hear.
Soon, the new Brandon was chasing after the climax, the speed of his hand was increasing, the rhythm was becoming unstable. In no time, the moan of the possessed man was heard along with the semen flowing out of the tip of his cock. âAhhhhh.â
Brandon took a weak breath, this was his first release after being sealed away. He picked up his phone and found news of a new park being built in a nearby town. âOh yeah, thatâs where another one of my friends is locked up. I should probably go help him out, since he has the same taste in body possession as me.
Then the devil took a photo of himself with his new hot body a few hours later. The new Brandon was busy masturbating all night long.
After finishing, I must say that this story will have a sequel where Brandon will release the demons that are imprisoned in various places. Let's see what kind of demon friends the new Brandon will meet. See you, bye.

Mel and Jayce Deserved Much Better
After experiencing horrors and walking through valleys and shadows, I truly hoped Mel would break down this season and unleash her emotions. Especially since she spent the entire season unlearning hardness with Jayce being so openly affectionate and emotional. This final act was honestly a slap in the face.
The one person she hoped would offer her that safety net to do this completely shuts her down. Mel was always cognizant of his feelings, constantly looking out for him, advising him, and teaching him. She shared with him her deepest insecurities and vulnerabilities. I can understand if Mel and Jayce are both going their separate ways because of the Noxus plot but to have him be this cold, and distant, and show a lack of understanding toward her plight is bizarre.
Mel comes back with a changed appearance and a different demeanor, and he doesn't even ask what happened. He seems to not care. Jayce isn't even giving her a chance to explain herself and just keeps coming at her and you can see the moment when Mel puts all her walls back up. Don't even get me started on the fact that he held the hammer in his hand for most of the time.
Their interactions during this act paint Jayce as one large hypocrite. He benefitted from all of Mel's teachings, from her providing comfort and affection, to her investments in Hextech. Asking her why she didn't save Viktor like she had something against him was wild.
This is the same Mel who offered comfort to Jayce when Viktor was severely injured during the explosion. The same Mel who immediately understood why Jayce left after their night together, recognized the importance of Viktor to Jayce.
If Mel could protect everybody in that room, she would. When she explains her lack of awareness of her abilities to him, he just keeps going on and on.
And the apology with the "passenger" line was just bad. It lacked a certain level of remorse that I would expect from Jayce of all people. Where is that good-hearted man who could tell when people aren't feeling their best, that person who always wanted to help people and make their lives better?
I think the Survivor Jayce is not the Jayce that Mel fell in love with, this is another man. The Jayce she fell in love with died at the bottom of that cave. The survivor Jayce is Viktor's passenger.
Jayce abandoned not just Mel but also his mother who protected him many times to be with Viktor in the afterlife?? In what universe is Jayce pulling that shit?
Now Mel's heading off to Noxus. A nation that doesn't align with her values and morals and would most likely have to harden herself to rule or have influence there. I hate it all. I hate that Black women always have to be strong. We actually had an opportunity to see a Black woman who grew up in that environment slowly shed those walls with a man who actually loved her and was openly affectionate and vulnerable. I'm so sad that it was taken from us. I'm sick and tired of the strong Black woman trope.
With how mischaracterized her motives and actions towards Jayce are, I for one cannot say that I'm excited for a spin-off series with Mel as a main character. Not with this writing team and this fandom.
To me, this show ended in season 1 with Zaun becoming independent, Jinx not firing the rocket, and Mel and Jayce growing together as individuals and as a couple.

PROMPTS FOR PRE ESTABLISHED CONNECTIONS AND CREATING HISTORY BETWEEN CHARACTERS * Â assorted dialogue for giving your characters a history and giving them past things or events to talk about, adjust as necessary
do you remember what i told you last time?
have you been doing well since i saw you?
that's not what you told me back then.
when was the last time i saw you?
you were shorter then.
i'm picking the restaurant this time.
we've known each other since we were children.
always knew i could count on you.
that time was different. this is worse.
you're not going to let me live that down, are you?
i seem to remember a conversation we had back then.
so you changed your mind about it?
do you remember our encounter in paris?
you should know me by now.
am i the only one that knows the truth?
we had a lot of help back then.
your mom told me to look out for you.
you just love bringing that back up to annoy me.
maybe don't mention my past indescretions?
this was never going to work out between us.
i told you not to get attached.
i know more about you than you think.
i was there, remember?
i'm not about to forget all the shit you put me through.
you told me you were going to try and make this work.
remember what i said to you?
the last time i saw you, things were good between us.
you never mentioned this before.
that was the longest flight of my life, and you made it worse.
can i still trust you after all that?
at least we tried to make something work.
we never discussed what happened between us.
okay, but i'm driving the car this time.
i haven't forgotten what you said last week.
i'm still thinking about your comment.
i didn't realize it was you when i first saw you.
you seem to make a lot of enemies around here.
there's not much for us to talk about.
we worked it out last time.
i know you far better than you know yourself.
we have a long history.
is that the shirt you were wearing last time?
what don't i know about you?
i haven't told them about us.
you were the only person i could go to.
you know me.
this is bigger than both of us.
i can't stand your driving.
are you taking me to the place we had dinner last time?
that's not at all what you said.
didn't we agree on that?
i thought i made it very clear where i stand.
are these the same people that came after you last time?
are you still going on about it?
can we talk about it?
staying silent about it won't help.
you're the only person who knows the real me.
this is a bad time to talk about your problems.

Listening to an episode of the @antiquesfreaks podcast where they cover the costuming in The Terror and here are some amazing moments:
"But Ken, are you the only one of us that put themselves through reading the book?" "I did. Because John Bridgens was trapped inside and I had to get him out and if I read the book good enough, perhaps I could save him"
"If you don't tell these men what to wear, they're gonna look like straight up hoochies."
"As we see in the later episodes of The Terror and discipline does break down and Dundy just starts showing up to command meetings with his suspenders out! Slattern that he is!!!
"Victorian Navy: one to one analog to working at present day Target."
"I heard they flog you at Target."
"I was press ganged into working at Target."
"It's Victorian times. Everyone's wicked fucking repressed and they're about to get wicked un-repressed whether they like it or not, and they're going to show that through their clothing."
"a blur of muttonchops"
"I pre-gamed the show for 5 years with gifsets on tumblr to makes sure I would be able to tell at least the major speaking roles apart, and I still could not tell Little and Jopson apart until I figured out they had different eye colors."
"And now I'm Pilkington SpottingTM as a hobby"
calling JFJ a "fashionable boy" with his "nippies out" because he doesn't button up his coat all the way like Franklin and Crozier
The two regular hosts repeatedly comparing themselves to a delinquent class that their guest is stuck substitute teaching
"I think my character would be hitting a fat doobie right about now"
Discussing Jared Harris being obsessed with his own costuming details like all the mending on Crozier's clothes
Jopson's first appearance - "he's normal and they're normal and everyone's having a normal time here on this completely routine expedition." "It's so normal. Do you ever fall in love with your boss???" "It couldn't have been more erotic if they had just had gay sex."
Stanley and McDonald's button grouping on their uniforms to denote rank
THEY TALK ABOUT THE ICONIC JFJ GANSEEEYYY
Also Irving's Sanquhar scarf :')
"the red sweater of tenderness" sobbing screaming throwing up
"I think The Terror would have been improved if all of the marines had Boston accents for no reason"
Also marines vs normal sailors
comparing sailor's clothes to fast fashion because it's not very tailored lmaooo
The canvas overcoats being period inaccurate but still neat because they're referencing later polar expeditions like what we see on the guys in the Shackleton expedition etc
They talk about irl Goodsir's letter about clothes and the many many shirts!
Nive having to wear a cooling vest under her costume since it was real caribou fur and her coat being patched with sail cloth later.
They go into Yup'ik masks which is super cool! As well as have a conversation about the ethics of visuals/information/knowledge about indigenous artwork being shared with folks outside of those communities.
Repeated! Dan! Simmons! Roasting! As! They! Should!!!!!
Reapted! Nive! Nielsen! Praising! As! They! Should!!!!!!!!
Sophia's "oceanic color theme"
"They let the dresses have colors. The dresses have colors. The dresses have bright beautiful colors, and it's great."
"They had invented aniline dyes and they were about to make it everybody's problem!"
Lady Jane in more solids vs Sophia in more patterns
"'A woman could never possibly understand polar exploration' meanwhil Silna's up there doing it better than all of them."
Clowning on how other period pieces never use bonnets and always fuck up in the hair and makeup department
"I found Harry Goodsir's fursuit btw"
"On a scale of Calypso's Birthday to Fitzjames's Carnivale, how's your impromptu nautical drag ball going?"
"It's actually exactly like The Purge." "It's like a little Victorian maritime Purge."
"As far as metaphor and literary analysis and whatever, scurvy understood the fucking assignment."
"I punched in Scorbutic Nostalgia so that I could remember to read about it later." "I have some literature for you if you want." "Yeah fantastic! I love disease"
"CGI bear expensive"
"This episode comes with a heavy caveat of 'go to Terror Camp'" amazing.
THE DRESSTM
Tozer's Hotspur costume and Dundy's Henry VI costume and their relevance
"This is the last we see of Party!Dundy"
(About Little) "Every day he gets emails :("
Bridgler and Apollo/Hyacinthus stuff fuuuuuccckk
"Hodgepodge, my boy"
"Oompa loompa doompity dacticals, don't indulge your morals over your practicals"
"Rip Hickey you would've loved Joker"
Not a silly quote but just a really fantastic one: "That is what the best historical designers do, is they find these nuggets of information that allow them to tell a story with authenticity, both in a way that is historical but authentic to the characters as well." EXAAAACCCTTTLLLYYYYYY
"Whomst among us has not Joplarped to get through the workday?"
#amazing fantastic incredible#my mom is obsessed with this podcast#and has been trying to get me to listen to it for ages#and she was like hey they have an episode on the terror costumes#theyre literally a couple of fucking nerds like you#alright! alright. she was right. Summary:Â Your boss needs a last-minute favour for the holidays.(petite!reader)
Characters: Lloyd Hansen
Note: I'm feeling very Little Lies about this.
As per usual, I humbly request your thoughts! Reblogs are always appreciated and welcomed, not only do I see them easier but it lets other people see my work. I will do my best to answer all I can. Iâm trying to get better at keeping up so thanks everyone for staying with me <3

Love you all. You are appreciated and your are worthy. Treat yourself with care. đ
"So this is the reason you missed Thanksgiving," a butter knife jabs in your direction as you poke at the white turkey meat; this? You look up then at Lloyd as he nearly chokes.Â
"Uh, yeah," he coughs behind his fist and swallows, "we were out of the country..."Â
"Yes, why would you bother to stay. No use in seeing your mother at the holidays, or the rest of your family," she reproaches.Â
"Mom," he groans.Â
"For ten years," William adds from his wife's side. "Now you show your face and you look as if you're eating rotten apples."Â
"No," Lloyd argues. "It's just... I'm busy and I don't get a lot of time away from work."Â
"We all have obligations," Gwenyth argues.Â
"Well, I took her away so I could propose," he explains as he presses his fork into the whipped potatoes. "And it worked out perfect, right? Cause now I can bring her to meet everyone."Â
Gwenyth hums flatly, "I suppose." She clicks her tongue and takes a healthy gulp of wine.Â
"So, Pixie," Lillian drawls from further down, "what do you do for work? Oh let me guess. A librarian?"Â
You don't let the suggestion bother you. You don't see it as an insult even if she says it like one. You shake your head.Â
"No, I--" you begin and Lloyd stomps your foot so you bite down on your voice. Â
"She is a corporate consultant. International corporation," he explains. Â
"Oh, wow, sounds busy," Gwenyth remarks.Â
"Yes, how will you have time for children?" Lillian challenges.Â
"I'm sure they'll find time to make them," Benson chortles over his snifter. Â
"Ben, please," William rebukes.Â
"We're focusing on the wedding before all that," Lloyd says.Â
You peer around as you chew your cheeks in frustration. You're annoyed by how they speak of you as if you're not even there, and so intimately. Yet, you don't have much to say for yourself. This whole facade is tiresome and you really don't care what they think about a made-up job. Or marriage, for that matter.Â
"That will be done with quickly," Gwenyth sniffs. "And she will need to quit that job if she wants to do her duty as your wife."Â
"I can handle a job and a husband," you blurt out.Â
The table quiets as if stunned that you can speak. You blink and Lloyd puts his fork down and touches your arm, "sweet pea--"Â
"I highly doubt you'd be marrying him for any other reason than that nest egg promised to him," Lillian scoffs. "You don't need to play a saint with us, darling. Marriage is a transaction in more ways than one; affection, money, sex--"Â
"Lilly," William warns and she laughs.Â
"Well?" She shrugs. "You do know, the wedding only guarantees a twenty percent payout. He needs an heir to get all of it." She pets her stomach smugly and smiles. "I can assure you it's well worth it. Once you meet Lorelai, you'll see."Â
"Oh? Maybe when you meet her, you'll consider being a mother too," Lloyd retorts.Â
"Excuse me?" Lillian snarls. "I love my daughter."Â
"Of course you so," he sneers. "I'm sure she feels all that love right now as she enjoys her turkey and carrots with the nanny."Â
"I can't have her around adults and alcohol. You can't possibly understand," she snaps. "And maybe it's better that you never do. I could never imagine you as a father, especially when you are such a child."Â
"Takes one to know one," Lloyd growls.Â
"Enough," William barks. "Both of you."Â
Ransom laughs loudly at the end of the table. Lloyd shifts and Lillian rolls her eyes. You sigh at your plate. You miss your family. For the first time in years, you truly miss them.Â
"What the hell are you laughing at, Hugh? The only reason you're here is because your grandpappy exiled you."Â
Linda gasps, "He's not exiled--"Â
"Oh, right, of course not, Lin, that's why you're here breaking bread with the peasants. That's what you called us at great grandmother's wake--"Â
"Lloyd, watch your mouth," William snarls. "Better yet, shut it."Â
Lloyd recoils in his chair and stiffens. His features sharpen then he lowers his chin and picks up his fork. His jaw is stone as he stirs the gravy into his potatoes. You wouldn't call him humbled, more whipped like a dog. These people make you feel something for him you never thought you could; sympathy.Â
"I don't care about money that much," you say. "It can't buy respect. Besides, I would never marry a man without a prenup. Whatever Lloyd has will remain his." You push your shoulders back as a yawn tickles in your throat. "At this point, he can keep you lot as well."Â
You stand up and take the cloth napkin from your lap. You fold it neatly, "Gwenyth, you can tell whoever cooked dinner that it was delicious. I appreciate you all having me but I'm going to go find a hotel and some peace." You step around the chair and push it into the table, "happy holidays."Â
You turn, your insides jittering. What are you doing? Where did that come from? You could say you're tired and not thinking straight, but honestly, you're just so repulsed by these people that your head could explode. They're lucky they only got a a few pieces of shrapnel.Â
You march out without looking back. Your cheeks tinge hotly with self-awareness. You've messed it all up. After years of harnessing your emotions under Hansen's thumb, you finally snapped. You blew it all.Â
"What she said," another chair scrapes as Lloyd speaks. "Mom, dad, good night."Â
You enter the hall and head for the entry way. You hear him beside you. You're still foggy with disbelief. It isn't until you sit to put on your boots that you notice Lloyd.Â
"I know, I'm done. Fired." You pull on your leather booties. "I'll take the severance and figure it out."Â
"I didn't say so," he says as he grabs a coat from the closet.Â
"Um..."Â
"You're completely right. We can't stay here. They're all a bunch of pricks and they wonder why I didn't come home for ten years," he pulls on his coat as he speaks. He pushes back his hair then smooths his mustache. "We're better off at the hotel. We'll sleep better there--"Â
"We? Lloyd, please. Stay with your family. I need space," you stand and reach past him for your jacket. "Besides, I booked a single queen and it's Christmas Eve."Â
"Queen's big enough. You're tiny--"Â
"Okay, no, no," you hiss. "It's not happening. Stay--"Â
"But I don't want to," he whines.Â
"Mr. Hansen," you say. "You're out of your mind."Â
"Well, after your blow up, I don't think I'm welcome," he puts his hand on his hip. "So this is your last chance to save your job. You made the mess, you clean it up."Â
"Me?" You exclaim.Â
He hushes you and step closer, "Pix, you already made a scene, let's not do the encore. I'm gonna grab my bags, alright?"Â
"You can't be serious." You say.Â
"Hey, I gotta play the loyal husband--"Â
"And why exactly is that necessary? Why couldn't you get one of those Tinder girls?"Â
"Woah, woah, come on, someone will hear you," he covers your mouth with his hand and you turn your face away with a blech. "Go warm up the car. We'll talk on the ride to the hotel."Â
You stare at him. He watches you, as uncertain as you've ever seen him. In the silence, you can hear the din in the other room.Â
"Always was such a baby," Lillian laughs venomously.Â
"He could've chosen someone without an iron spine," Gwenyth adds.Â
You grimace and throw your hands up, "fine, get your things."Â
"You're the best," he grabs your shoulders but before he can kiss you, you put your hand up to pinch his nose. He recoils and rubs the tip, "ow."Â
"No more of that," you say as you pull your keys out of your pocket. "Thank god I only had one glass of wine."Â
You stomp out the front door. The frigid winter air hits you like a bus. Once one even ground, the swirling snow flecks onto your shoulders and hair. Great, now you get to drive in the snow with an unwanted passenger.Â
You get in the driver seat and push the ignition. You turn on the heater and the heated seats. At least Hansen pays enough for the add-ons. Still, youâre not sure thereâs any compensation equal to what you just went through.Â
You look over as the front door opens and closes. Lloyd rolls a giant suitcase with him, another smaller bag strapped on top, and a third in his other hand. You donât move as you watch him descend the steps, easing the wheels over the edge one-by-one.Â
He comes down the long walk and jerks as his loafers slip on the icy pavement. It would be funny if you werenât so damn exhausted. You steadies himself and continues on. You should get out and help him. You donât.Â
You pop the trunk with the button. He loads in his bags as you check the rear view. He comes around the passenger side and pulls the door open. He lets out an obnoxious âbrrrrâ as he drops into the seat next to you. You shift gears as he shuts the door.Â
âUgh, I feel so much better getting out of there,â he says as he adjusts the seat, making room for his long legs.Â
âWhy?âÂ
âUm, why not? My family is the worst--âÂ
âNo, why did you drag me into this?â You ask as you lean into the wheel and squint over it. The dark, the snow, the unplowed roads, itâs like the universe canât stop throwing you obstacles.Â
âYou want the real answer or the nice answer?â He replies.Â
âMr. Hansen,â you growl.Â
âRight, I had no other choice.âÂ
âNo other choice?â You repeat.Â
âLook, those long-legged beauties back home, theyâre fun, but they donât got much else going on. I needed someone who could play along,â he explains.Â
âPlay along?âÂ
âYeah, I mean, youâre smart so--âÂ
âIâm smart...âÂ
âI wouldnât hire you if you werenât--âÂ
âJeez, wow, Mr. Hansen, thank you so much. You think Iâm so smart, so you should know Iâm smart enough to know better than to believe you. You think Iâm desperate,â you turn slowly onto the next street. âYou think I have nothing else going on.âÂ
âNo, thatâs not--â he shifts in his seat.Â
âItâs exactly what you think,â you huff. âWell, I do. I have a flight in...â you pause and check the time on the dash, âfive hours so when we get to the hotel, Iâm going to sleep and youâre going to let me. Then Iâm going to catch my flight and the curtain can be pulled on this whole theatre.âÂ
âYour words, not mine. I donât think youâre desperate.âÂ
You donât respond. Youâre tired. He just canât leave things alone. He always has to say something. You wonder if he was truly left to his own thoughts, if his head would combust.Â
âIâm actually impressed,â you says, âyou held your own.âÂ
âSir,â you utter.Â
âIt was good. Entertaining. I mean, all these years, you never once talked back to me but wow, that was... majestic, really. You didnât even wait to see my motherâs face. Or my sisterâs.âÂ
âYour family is weird,â you blurt out. âSorry, uh, I didnât mean--âÂ
âI mean, yeah, we probably are but I donât really have anything to compare it to,â he says.Â
You nod. He has a point. Yet, while that horde of entitled brats might explain his personality, it canât excuse it.Â
The hotelâs marquee shines like a beacon as you steer into the lot. You yawn and shut off the engine. You let yourself out and drag your feet around to the trunk. You take out your carry-on as Lloyd hovers at the other side.Â
âAll of your stuff, out,â you say. âIâm going straight to the airport in the morning. Checkout is ten so as long your gone by then, I donât care what you do.âÂ
Heâs quiet but he obeys. He takes his bags out and sets them on the ground. He pulls the rolling bag and slings his smallest bag on his shoulder. You snap the trunk shut and turn, shuffling across the icy tarmac.Â
You enter through the automatic doors and cross the desolate lobby. You check in with your ID but as you look for your credit card, Lloyd flicks his between his fingers and offers it up to the clerk.Â
âItâs on me,â he insists.Â
You wonât argue. You really donât trust him to leave by checkout. As you head for the elevators, he takes a deep breath. He doesnât speak until youâre behind the sliding doors of the compartment.Â
âYou know, Iâm still your boss so you canât just order me around,â he says.Â
You glance over at him. âRight, wonât happen again, sir.âÂ
âIt could have been worse, you know? I couldâve actually had you come all the way out here just to drop off some gifts. If you think about it, you got a free dinner and some wine--âÂ
âYeah, it was a great time,â you say dryly. âMr. Hansen, Iâm too tired to lie any more. Tonight was one of the worst nights of my life so no, I donât think it could be worse.âÂ
The doors open and you stride out. You swipe the card at the door corresponding to the number written in the folio and let yourself in. He follows closely, nearly running over your heels with his suitcase.Â
You take your bag to the bed and take out the cotton pajamas stuffed inside just for tonight. You bring them with you into the bedroom, doing your best to ignore your guest. Lloyd wanders along the wall and finds his way to the mini fridge.Â
Youâre in no rush to change, only to get to bed. You trade your dress and stockings for the cotton two-piece and emerge. You shove your bag and clothes beside the night table and slide under the blankets. You pull them up to your shoulders.Â
âThey got wine, tequila, beer--âÂ
âIâm going to sleep,â you insist.Â
âThe alcohol will help.âÂ
âNo, it will make waking up even harder.âÂ
âAfter tonight, I think you need a shot.âÂ
âMr. Hansen,â you grumble and cover your head.Â
âFine, more for me.â He snickers.Â
Youâre happy he canât see the irritation on your face. You might just be better off to let him drink whatever. Eventually, heâll have to pass out. At least, you can only hope he does.Â

Arcane Season 2 - How Bad Pacing Can Ruin Everything
So, Arcane season 2 ended. And I am sorry, I need to vent.
I am honestly not sure whether the rumors are true and this were originally meant to be more seasons. The Riot CEO apparently denies it, but then again, I have seen CEOs confidently go out on stages to talk about a project which they knew was cancelled at that point in time. So, sorry, but I will never ever trust a CEO. Lying is like 50% of their jobs. Being greedy is the other half. Sorry, not sorry.
I am gonna write something about disability in Arcane (overall) during the next few days, but let me just talk a bit about the pacing issues of season 2.
Spoilers for season 2 - all of it - obviously.
Believe me or not, but I know the exact issue of Arcane season 2. It is called: Too many characters. Too many plotlines. It is something that easily happens when writing an ensemble story (no matter what the format is you publish the story in - it happens in books, movies, shows, games). At times it works fine if you manage to weave the entire ensemble into the same main plot. But as soon as you wanna give everyone their own little storyarc with a bit of their own themes, it often goes haywire. Either you will end up dropping some characters to the side and not properly finish up their story, or you will end up rushing everything. Neither is gonna be good.
Here I am mainly thinking... Was the entire Black Rose/LaBlanc stuff planned to be there from the beginning? Was it put in later? I mean, given that the entire story felt like it might set up Mel as a Champion for LoL... How do I put it? Mel was too overdesigned in the show, to not be a future Champion. That was my feeling from the beginning. I don't know if they gonna make her a Champion, but man, it feels like it.
But no, the main issue really is the pacing. There is just too much stuff happening.
I will remain, that the thing that shows this better than anything was the second "arc" of season 2. Episode 4-6. And the general way the entire Caitlyn, Vi, Jinx thing plays out. We have the following things happen in the first six episodes of season 2:
Cait's mother dies
Cait swears revenge and asks Vi to assist her as an enforcer
Vi does not want to. Ends up getting drunk.
Vi decides to do it anyway.
They do a bit of chemical warfare for good measures.
They go down there. Fight Jinx. Vi cannot do it - partly because Isha.
Cait breaks up with Vi and becomes the evil fascist dictator
Vi becomes an alcohol addict.
Except, never mind, Caitlin is already feeling shitty about it next episode.
Jinx gets Vi and Magic Pixie Dreamgirls her out of her new-found addiction.
Jinx and Vi are good again. They go help Vander.
Cait meets Vi for the first time since the break up. They instantly are back on the same page.
Like, there is so many plothooks in this storyline alone that do go completely unexplored.
There are two characters here, that do play a role in the last three episodes too and that felt like they were some proper characters at some point. Those two are Maddie - the Scottish-dialect enforcer girl - and... Frankly, I do not feel like looking up the name. The big burly one, who after the break-up takes care of Vi.
Those two feel like they were at some point meant to be more real characters. But because of the pacing, they are barely ideas. Maddie starts making out with Caitlyn because...? I don't know. Because I literally do not know anything about this character but "she is an enforcer", "she is queer", "she is attracted to power(?)", and thats it.
And the other guy goes with Vi because... Uhm... I don't know. I know literally nothing about this chaaracter other than that he is big and an enforcer. *shrugs*
It most certainly feels like there was some planned version of this show, in which Cait and Vi both had a proper corruption arc. In which we really saw the two of them struggle. In which we actually saw Piltover and Zaun under the control of Commander Caitlyn and Noxus, and saw the horrible things they were doing and what it was doing with Caitlyn. In which we also saw Vi struggling with addiction and stuff.
But that was not the version we got in the end. Instead in this version... things go magically well.
Hooray?
Same with Jinx. Her mental health issues just magically get better when Isha is there, because that is what the story needs to happen now.
Here, too, it also feels like huge chunks of the story are missing. It feels like there was a story going more into the relationship of Sevika and Jinx for a bit. But if that story had been there once, it was most certainly no longer there. It was hinted at, yeah, but that's it.
And then there is the entire magic plot.
Look, I think among the fans of the LoL Lore I am not the first one to say: "Yeah, trying to marry the worldbuilding of Arcane to the established Runeterra worldbuilding does not work, because of the magic." Runeterra so far was always a fairly high magic world - at least that was implied by comics and short stories. Magic was a common thing in this world. Otherwise we could not have that many magic champions and a whole place whose entire thing it had been: "We are anti-magic Nazis building mage concentration camps!"
When Riot said, that Arcane was now the main canon, A LOT of fans of the lore were like: "You get that it is not gonna work." And yeah, Arcane Season 2 clearly shows how it doesn't work.
Because the way they put in the entire "Mel is magic, also the Black Rose is a thing" stuff just... It did not fit in the entire plot around it. Because Arcane had been designed as a world where magic was very rare and strange. But now Mel had to be magic and somehow had to be connected to the Black Rose.
Also... What the fuck even happened there in the end? Why put that in? Why make Mel go against LaBlanc? I am sorry, but that was simply too much for this plot. The entire Black Rose stuff stuck out of this plot like - pardon the pun - a thorn.
Generally there are several relationships that feel, like they had at one point been a whole more explored, but then got dropped to the wayside.
As I said, Sevika and Jinx are definitely an example. Ekko and Heimerdinger as well. I also feel like what was episode 7 of the show was probably originally more than one episodes and slower paced - though it still to me was the one episode in this, that kinda worked in of itself. And that the Ekko and Jinx relationship was better established.
I also feel that Viktor and that echo of Skye was probably at some point supposed to actually have talks. Like: "I will miss talking to you." - "No, you won't." Okay? THEN SHOW ME THEM TALKING PLEASE?!
Which kinda brings me down to the main thing that happened because of the pacing issue. Season 2 of Arcane knew only two extremes in terms of "Show, don't tell". Either it goes full "music video" in whcih indeed it just shows us shit without context or dialogue - or we get the information just via dialogue, in a complete tell.
This also shows in the last episode, with the entire thing of Piltover asking the Zaunites for help, after brutally surpressing them forever. Yeah, I see where they were going with this. About being the bigger people and planting seeds and what not. But frankly, there might have been a time and space for a story like that, if properly told (you know, with giving more of the Zaunites a voice in this story, showing more of the conflict and spacing this plot out over several episodes). But a) it was not properly told, and b) a world in which several genocides happen while Trump somehow won a second term is not that world. Yes, b) is not the fault of anyone working on Arcane. That was simply bad luck on their part. But a) is very much their fault - and even if we did not have a Palestinian Genocide and no second Trump term: Without a) being done properly, it would not have worked. It would have just not felt quite as miserable.
You know, the most frustrating thing about this was, that... While I think that one way or another I would still have hated how the show handles the topic of disability (again, I will write about this during the next few days), I generally might have liked the same plot, if it had been given the needed space to breathe.
Like... Sure, I would have never really been on board with "fascist Caitlyn", or rather with "fascist Caitlyn, who gets then forgiven by everyone". But I could have somewhat swallowed it, if that forgiveness had to be earned. But because of the breakneck speed of this show, it never got earned. I am not even talking about redemption arcs here - those are always a headache - but specifically about the fact that Caitlyn gets instantly forgiven by everyone.
Also, lol. The entire thing with Ekko convincing Jinx to come along off-screen. That was unelegant.
Heck, it feels in the first four episodes, as if there was an arc being set up for Sevika in general. And it feels like that arc needed to happen, given that Sevika ends up on the COUNCIL OF PILTOVER in the epilogue. However, that Arc just does not happen. Then, like... why set it up?
That is general the issue. There is a lot of set-up and very, very little payoff to any of it.
And here is the thing. I have heard people argue about whether or not this was meant to have more seasons. But frankly: I do not think that the writers who wrote season 1 would have written this story this way had they known it would be two seasons.
Mind you, compared to some people I would not rate the writing in season 1 higher than maybe 6 or 7 of 10. It was solid, but not overwhelmingly great. But season 2 in comparison is a 2 of 10, maybe a 3 of 10, if I am being gracious.
And frankly, I do not think any writer, who is in any way worth their salt, would write a story where a main character goes evil, and then do exactly nothing with it. I mean, sorry, us writers, we are a dramatic bunch. And we will not resist the drama being served on a silver platter unless we are forced too. I cannot imagine a single writer, who will go with the end of episode 3 and then not write a bunch of angst with Caitlyn and Vi - unless they were forbidden.
And mind you, CaitVi is by far the ship I am least invested in. But it is simply such a glaring example of where the plot is rushed in a way that it hinders the character arcs.
Oh, and also... Lest. Lest in the first six episodes clearly felt like a character, who was going to play a role. Only to then disappear to not be seen again during the finale. What happened to Lest? Is she dead? Is she alive? I guess we'll never know.
*sighs* I am sorry. I really am. I am just... very disappointed. This has been a mess. And I think it would not have needed to be.
Like, the animation is still the most pretty thing ever made in the world. But man... The plot? The plot sucks balls. And not in the sexy way.

hi, I hope you are well!
i have a askk
what about Genshin Impact characters with a fem!reader who has powers similar to Gojo Satoru?
Hey! Sorry for the late delivery đ
You didn't specify which characters you wanted so I just put the ones I thought fit on my proposal đ
Characters: Wanderer (Scaramouche), Lisa, Diluc, Xiao, Thoma, Lumine/Aether (both travelers).
Content: It can be interpreted as platonic or romantic, some swear words perhaps, mention of violence typical of the Jujutsu Kaisen canon, reader is gn but more like male because Gojo is a man.
Comments and reblogs are very welcome âĄ
[Name] was a complex individual. He/She came to Teyvat along with the traveler, apparently being from a noble family from his/her and the traveler's original world. Yet, his/her incredibly strong strength and abilities coupled with his/her arrogant personality make the residents of Teyvat confused.
"What the f*ck are you doing?" Wanderer, or Scara, as you call him against his will, while you two were on a mission, looking for mint for the traveler.
"Can't you see? Water fall! Hehe~" you laughed foolishly as your technique prevented the water from reaching you, making a small waterfall above your head.
Scara let out a sound similar to a grunt mixed with a deep sigh.
"Why in the world traveler just have to put me with you?"
âOh, stop complaining. I bet youâre secretly having fun.â
âHaving fun? What in Teyvat makes you think thatâs fun?â Scara narrowed his eyes at [Name], clearly exasperated.
âWell, youâre still here, arenât you? If you really wanted to leave, you would have found a way by now.â
For a moment, the Wanderer was silent, his prepared response dying in his throat. He stared at the waterfall, and as much as he wanted to deny it, there was something... comforting about the scene. Something so simple, yet so absurdly peaceful that he couldn't help but let his guard down a little. He looked away, sulking.
"You're insufferable." he finally muttered, though his voice sounded less sharp.
"That sounds like a compliment coming from you!" [Name] replied with a wink.
Scara gave him a long, sharp look. "If you don't find the mint in ten minutes, I'll throw you under the waterfall for real."
The traveler was worried that you would end up killing each other. Surprisingly, you are always cursing each other but you have never gotten physical.
Perhaps it helped that the traveler made it clear to the Wanderer that you were the strongest in your world. Scara is not stupid, he doesn't pick fights with the stronger ones. Yet, he learned a lot about the kind of person you are.
"I'd like to find those artifact books before the traveler gets mad at me. I mean, Lumine/Aether can even cry!" [Name] said with an overly dramatic air, leaning forward slightly as she stared at Jean.
Jean just shook her head and sighed. Despite everything, a slight smile played at the corners of her lips, evidence that she did, in fact, find [Name]'s antics amusing.
"You never miss a chance to put on a show, do you?" Jean commented.
At the top of the stairs, Lisa watched the exchange with a mix of amusement and curiosity.
Leaning against the banister, she looks at [Name]. âHmm, if I were crying, would you comfort me? Honestly, I would love that.â
[Name] looked up at Lisa, eyes shining with provocation. âAh, Lisa, but you never cry! Youâre too strong for that.â
âAha, really?â Lisa smiled and laughed softly.
When Traveler asked if you really thought Lisa was that strong or were joking, you just shrugged.
Honestly, Lisa could be really strong!... or it could be pure flattery too, who knows?
âWhat kind of bartender doesnât like alcohol?â [Name] asked, arching an eyebrow as watched Diluc with a wry smile, fiddling with the dessert glass you had just finished devouring.
Diluc paused for a moment, the cloth falling onto the counter with a restrained sigh. He stared at [Name] with an expression that was on the edge of patience, his eyes narrowed. "I don't think you're the ideal person to judge me," Diluc retorted, his fingers touching the glass gently. "Being the psychotic for sweets that you are, I mean."
You made a dramatic movement of placing your hand over your chest, simulating an expression of exaggerated offense.
"Aaah, but that has nothing to do with it! I don't own a wine cellar!" You replied, turning your face away.
"If I work as a gravedigger, do I need to be buried?" Diluc said dryly, placing the glass back on the shelf with precision.
"That doesn't even make sense!" [Name] exclaimed, shrugging. "You're just making things up because you have no arguments." the sarcasm was clear in your voice, but there was also a subtle glint in your eyes that suggested you was enjoying the exchange.
Diluc let out a sigh, looking more tired than irritated.
"Tell me, [Name], why exactly is someone who clearly doesn't enjoy alcohol here in my wine cellar, filling my counter with candy crumbs?" he asked, taking a step towards the counter to organize the bottles with meticulous precision.
[Name] made a dramatic gesture with the hands, smiling teasingly. "Oh, it's nothing. I just like looking at your face and your red hair~"
Diluc huffed, crossing his arms and glaring at [Name] with a mixture of irritation and resignation. â[Name], donât you have anything better to do than break into my wine cellar and distract me while I work?â he asked, his tone exasperated but low enough not to draw the attention of his employees.
âNo, actually, I donât,â [Name] replied, with a mischievous smile that contrasted with Dilucâs scowl. âBesides, you have to admit that company does lighten the mood of this place. Itâs so⌠melancholy. It seems like someone here is carrying a lot of grief.â
Dilucâs eyes narrowed, but he didnât bite at the provocation. He slung the cloth over his shoulder and grabbed a fresh bottle of wine to organize the shelves, turning his attention back to his work. âIf you think this place is gloomy, maybe you shouldnât be here. Iâm sure Jean or Albedo would love to hear your unnecessary comments elsewhere.â
âBut neither of them have that hair,â [Name] replied, plucking an imaginary strand out of the air and twirling his fingers theatrically. âYou know, you could use a little more lightheartedness. Maybe I should bring you some sweets next time. Something that matches your hidden charm.â
âI donât need a lightheartedness, and certainly not your sweets scattered all over the counter,â Diluc retorted, finally turning to face him. âWhy are you really here, [Name]? It canât be just to tease me.â
[Name]âs expression changed for a moment, the playful smile softening. âMaybe I enjoy your company, Diluc. Itâs refreshing to see someone so⌠genuine. No matter how grumpy they are.â
Diluc was silent for a few seconds, his red eyes fixed on the you. He sighed, as if admitting a silent defeat, and went back to work. "Do whatever you want. Just don't leave any more crumbs on my counter."
[Name] laughed, leaning forward to support him with her elbows. "I knew that deep down you like me, redhead. You just don't know how to admit it."
"In your dreams..." Diluc replied, but the corner of his mouth almost threatened to form a smile.
You're honestly annoying. But he likes you. But he doesn't admit it.
"You really don't talk much, do you?" [Name] commented, leaning forward a little. "But that's okay, I'm good enough for two." Your voice was filled with a confidence that didn't go unnoticed.
"I'm also the type who doesn't have the patience for a long silence. In my world, being the strongest is something that comes naturally. No one dares to doubt that, and I can assure you that my power is something... unquestionable."
âYou talk too much.â Xiao finally replied, his voice low and somewhat harsh, as natural of his voice. âAnd yet⌠you have no idea what it means to truly carry the weight of eternity.â He pause. âI am a Yaksha, you know. We are more than just strength.â
"You have this aura of mystery, this... silence one. I'm very good at noticing details. And you, my friend, are full of them." You say, your tone naturally laden with arrogance, but Xiao sharpens his eyes.
"Very presumptuous for someone young." Xiao says, but shakes his head in the end.
It may not seem like it, but he is not bothered by your presence.
You tend to talk a lot, he honestly doesn't mind. It may seem like he's not listening, but he is.
He cares about you. Even though you keep saying that you are the strongest in your world. He wasn't around to see your displays of power, so he doesn't believe it.
He knows your arrogance will get you into trouble. That's why he's always around.
âThoma, itâs been a while!â [Name] exclaimed with a wide smile, your eyes shining with amusement as you saw Thomaâs blond head in the distance at the shop where the Kamisato Clanâs caretaker was buying some items for the day.
Your voice echoed through the street, carrying an unmistakable confidence, as if you had just met an old friend after a long period of absence.
Thoma, who had been distracted by picking out some ingredients for dinner, looked up quickly, immediately recognizing [Name]âs presence. He smiled back, his expression friendly and relaxed, his eyes sparkling with a hint of humor.
âOh, ah! [Name]!â he exclaimed, raising one of his hands in greeting. He took a step towards [Name], with his usual welcoming smile.
"How have you been, Thoma?" [Name] asked with a mischievous smile. "Continuing your mission to solve all the problems in Inazuma, as always?"
Thoma, for his part, chuckled softly, leaning forward slightly, his eyes shining with amusement. âI try. But what about you? Howâs life in Teyvat? Still enjoying your⌠âgamesâ?â Thomaâs tone was friendly, in no rush to get serious about any conversation, but it was also a bit teasing. He knew [Name] had a tendency to make fun of situations and people, though he could also tell that behind that arrogance was something else, something more human.
âAh, you know⌠Life is much more interesting when you can joke around with others. I canât help but be amused by the situations you and your Kamisato Clan get yourselves into.â
Thoma laughed, his smile now wider, he had grown accustomed to this dynamic of teasing and teasing between them. "I know, I know. But if you need help with any problems, you know where to find me."
"I know," [Name] replied, smile turning into a more relaxed expression, but still with a glint of mischief in the eyes. "I just hope you don't get into too much trouble with your duties. I don't want you to be too busy to help me when I need it."
You two act like you've known each other for ages. It honestly surprises everyone around.
Thoma cares about you just like Xiao does, but he personally believes that you are capable of handling yourself even without ever seeing your displays of power.
You've known each other for a long time. A really long time. Like, since birth.
Aether knows you like the back of his hand. Your family has always been rich and famous in the world you came from, your clan being the largest. Yet, you know the twins by literally sneaking them into your house.
"Come on, come up!" A child [Name] insists at the small window of your room. Aether was crouched on the lawn and whimpered.
"I canât do it! It's too high!" Aether says.
"Ugh, you crybaby!" [Name] grumbles.
You then start to rummage through your room looking for something. You grab a stool, quickly climbing onto it and leaning against the window. "Give me your hand."
"U-Uhh, but what if I fall??" Aether says hesitantly.
"Hurry up!"
Even though he was scared, Aether closed his eyes tightly and grabbed [Name]'s hand.
"I won't let go. I'll never let go." [Name]'s words made Aether open his eyes, seeing those deep vibrant blue eyes, and a smile. Not malicious like usual, but honest. "See? You don't have to be afraid of anything."
You didn't really let go of him. You never let go of him.
And he couldn't be happier about it.
You two will find Lumine. And you all will go home, together.
âTsk, this is ridiculous.â [Name]âs voice was cold, but filled with a quiet anger that made even Lumine feel uncomfortable.
You had always been the type of person to keep himself in control, but when your emotions boiled over, it was clear how unpredictable you could be. Lumine watched as your made impatient gestures, she can count on one hand the times she's seen you so upset.
âThat fatui trash thinks he can mess with you? Good news, he CANNOT,â [Name] continued, voice a bit louder than usual, revealing a fierce anger that rarely displayed.
You was referring to Tartaglia, who had tried to approach Lumine with a sly smile, his intentions veiled, as always. Lumine didnât respond right away.
She leaned forward a little, looking at him with a surprised expression.
âWhy are you so upset about this?â she asked.
âBecause no one has the right to treat you that way,â you said, still carrying an inner strength that could not be ignored. âI will not allow some piece of weak trash to think he can do whatever he wants.â
âYou really need to stop getting so angry over that small thing.â Lumine says, but quickly shakes her head. "I can take care of myself, you know."
âI know you can defend yourself, Lumine, but sometimes the world needs to remember whoâs really in control.â [Nome] spoke with renewed confidence, but this time it was more of a statement than a threat.
"You don't have to worry, [Name]. I can take care of myself." Lumine said in a soft but firm tone.
[Name] watched her for a moment, and for a brief second, the gaze softened. "I know, Lumine. I know." You finally murmured.
Like, yeah. No one messes with the ones you care about.

note: i love this chapter so much. i finally feel connected to the characters, which is something that i was lacking in the first two chapters. i broke sweat writing this and i spent hours on this. don't be a silent reader and have mercy on me. let me know what you think. <3
The vaporous retrospection of Jeonggukâs hands offered you solace beneath the slanted downpour of the hot shower stream. Using the slender, satiny, beige scrunchie that is used more as a statement bracelet of yours than a ponytail holder, you seized your long bob into your trembling fists and put it up, imagining it were Jeonggukâs stable and strong fingers working around the sleek fabric, making sure your hair didnât soak one drop of the water.Â
The tears had halted, somehow, the moment your foot lifted over the shower floor. You let the stream dribble over your face, wash away your awkward moment of weaknessâthe mascara you rubbed off, the ebony teardrop-shaped trails of your agony that in another dimension wasnât agony at all, but the velvet antithesis of it. Something very akin to the homely-like joy, warmth and a connection you could depend on. This is what you did, more often than not. Set your imagination into motion as a form of coping mechanism that would smooth out all the nerves in your system that had been wrung out into an unnatural, unrecognizable architecture.Â
It wasnât that Yoongi didnât typify a wall you could lean against. Vitally and physically, he did. Daily, you had a roof over your head and food in your tummy. But metaphorically and emotionally, that wall he embodied was too sturdy. Impossible to break through. Impossible to speak through. And that could never be the connection your soul so earnestly sought.Â
That could never be anything at all.Â
Nothing awaited you on the other side of this dead end.Â
Jeongguk helped you perceive that. With his hands, with his wise words that caused such tumultuous chaos in your body. Enough for you to find the nearest exit and isolate yourself. Weep in peace. Wash it all away. And it felt as though someone up above, beyond the clouds and the stars, wrote down this moment a long time ago. Made it so Jeongguk would offer you a chance to showerâin fact made it so the first snow of the wintertime would begin to fall and block your way home.Â
What wouldâve happened if your bus did come after all, if you stubbed Jeonggukâs cigarette and waved him goodbye?Â
You would be still standing in front of this dead end, in front of this sky-high wall. Not half-pivoted to leave, not considering other options. Not carrying the closest experiences of physical touch in your hands. Not feeling warmth. Not swallowing the aftertaste of Jeonggukâs cinnamon tea. Not having the ghost and the reaction of his hands as an anchor you cling to.Â
You would have nothing. Just like you did your entire life.Â
And if the turmoil never happened, it wouldnât have made this much difference. It wouldnât have ripped open a hole in this nothingness; it wouldnât have shattered the iron of your shackle. Because it was this turmoil of his, this pain of his, that coaxed that wisdom out of him, despite his fatal flaw. His friend became yoursâand beneath the shower stream, you came to terms with it.Â
With the principle that makes life a life: no pain, no gain.Â
Rain brings flowers, and the more you dwelled in the memory of Jeonggukâs hands, the more the buds of blossoms opened with more sense of safety and comfort upon your tree. Because they made you feel this way.Â
His arm lifting in your direction at the sound of your cry, then whisking back to his side in respect. His hands warmer than the cup they were holding, not twitching at the throe of the scalding liquid. Good, good hands, belonging to a good person.Â
Nothing about him is unsafe, even when he exposes the painful truth over your life. How could anything about him be unsafe by any means, when the only shower gel he had was of that cinnamon fragrance.Â
Heâs no longer the essence of macadamia, musk and cedarwood.Â
Heâs cinnamon through and through. The spice of sweetness, the spice of winter. The epitome of warmth and carefulness, profound and unforgettable in taste.Â
The tears you weep next are for him. For the deeply-buried unrequited affection he has for Ka-eun. For the unfair, horrendous treatment he deals with day by day. For all the love he stores within himself while having no one, absolutely no one, to give it to.Â
And feverish pearls of thankfulness trickle out of your tear ducts for him, too. For the freedom he so freely and selflessly engraved into the flesh of your heart that you sense wonât overgrow anytime soon.Â
Pearls of thankfulness that heâs a witness of, for he stands at the door. Puffy mouth agape, chocolate eyes wide beneath thick-rimmed glasses. Something is ringingâyou canât hear it, but you can feel the pulse of the noise. The alarm that beats in his aura as heâs frozen on the spot, unknowing what to do. He canât see one inch of your body due to the tinted hue of the glass separating you from him, but he can see your tears. Can see their flow. And perhaps he can see their inner sadness, too.Â
You donât feel naked. You were bare and raw while fully clothed just a while ago in his kitchen, but right now with nothing to cover you, thereâs nothing to be ashamed of. His irises donât glide down. Donât even dare to skim down to the darkly shadowed back of your shoulder that faces him. His mouth moves, the ball of his Adamâs apple leaps nearly to his chin as he swallows, but you just canât hear a damn thing.Â
And then the ringing grows in volume. A sound that pierces your eardrum, that rips your gaze away from him as soon as your hearing senses accept it. Your brows pull in, the shrillness of the sonancy reverberating through your sternum like icy gunfireâand you wish it was softer, you wish the everlasting coldness wouldnât stalk you, and you wish you would stay warm.Â
You inhale and exhale. Tightness swathes your chest and the following breath you take is shallow, not enough for your lungs. Panic settles in, your arms wrap around your body, and then⌠shadow.Â
Shadow inches in. Spreads its wingspan.Â
When you glance behind your shoulder, the glass door is open. Jeongguk stands at the entrance with his graceful hands holding up a towel for you. His head is turned to the side, unwilling to look at your nakedness out of that respect of his.Â
You donât have control over your body when you step out of the shower and into the cotton of the makeshift security of those wings. Using the carefulness heâs patched together with, he wraps the largeness of the towel around you. As if you were a small child, being dried off by its father. The only spots of your form he touches are your shoulders and the upper planes of your chest. Your eyelids are heavy with the weight of your tears and a certain tiredness from the day as your irises flick to his. And the spell of your numbness, little by little, breaks because he looks right down at you with utmost seriousness and concern.Â
He sees you.Â
Youâre seen.Â
âHold it,â he murmurs, speaking of the two edges of the towel, the edges of the wings that he still holds together with his fist. Those corners of his mouth are downturned, just like they were when you entered his apartment. You mimic that pout, lamenting that youâre making him feel this way, that itâs your fault the turmoil has come back to him, even though the shared negative emotion smears your chest with warmth. Itâs an oxymoron, your guilt laced with your desire to stay in this dimmed microcosm with him.Â
It reminds you of the connection you seek. It resembles it too, too much.Â
You fold your arm beneath the towel and pinch the edges together, gripping his fingers in the process. A shiver cascades down your spine due to that layered touch and Jeongguk blinks, lingering in your clasp for a moment before he lets go, leaning over to turn off the water.Â
Grateful, you are. For him, for the way heâs allowing you to experience such an imperative part of humanity that you could never reach. You yearn to hug him, not speak a vowel, and just exist in this newness.Â
You donât know what any of this means. Youâre conscious of the shift, the shift of the gravity between you and him, but none of it carries the weight of romance. He encapsulates something else, something way bigger, abstruse and abstract.Â
Something that could kill you⌠or save you in a millisecond.Â
âWhat was that?â Jeongguk asks, his voice still low and murmuring. Thereâs an impenetrable depth to his pensive eyes that somehow quickens the speed of your recuperation. His question casts a light on you that is blinding, but you can bear it. After what happened in his kitchen, you can, truly, handle anything. âI knocked. Multiple times. I called out to you, but you didnât answer back.âÂ
His eyes flick between yours, searching for an explanation, demanding it, and youâd give him anything⌠anything heâd ask after the way he turned your life around.Â
âIââ you begin but trail off, not knowing how to explain the frailty of your mental health. You, too, comb through his eyelashes in pursuit of help for your words, but what you come across are not letters but the vast prettiness of his being.Â
Your knees give out on you, weakened by him, and a snuggly blanket of completion comes to rest over you because Jeonggukâs arm jerks towards your direction again and this time, he doesnât let it drift back. He places his palm on your arm, holding you steady so you donât plummet to the ground, lingering there once again.Â
Life-giving, that gesture is. You feel your blood pumping throughout the pathways of your veins with more vigor, enlivening your entire body, helping you come out of the fog of your stupor. The sap in your tree thickens and you can see more clearly, hear with a better precision and breathe without any pinpricks or heftiness in your lungs.Â
Freedom spreads down your limbs, rooting from the warmth pooling in the dent of your arm, the part of you that Jeongguk is gripping. A cult leader, heâs become. A savior, a dangerous man. And you shall never be his companion againâyouâll be his follower until the day you cease to exist on this earth.Â
âAre you okay?â he asks, abruptly breathless, and the axis of his grip opens out, descending down to the rounded edge of your elbow. His thumb traces circles on that fleshiness and the comfort you receive from it brings forth your liquid emotions. They spill down onto your cheeks, but youâre not ashamed of them. Youâre not ashamed of anything anymore.Â
âIâm okay,â you say and you mean itâbecause youâve stepped inside an environment that feels so terribly secure, so terribly grounding, a place that will never leave the internal realm of your soul.Â
Jeongguk scans your face, brows knitted. âTell me whatâs going on.âÂ
You inhale, tipping your face down to rub away your tears with your towel-clothed knuckles. âSometimes when I get overwhelmed I go numb⌠thatâs all.âÂ
His circles halt. A nebulous shadow eclipses over his tense features. âDid I cause this?âÂ
Your lips part. âYou told me something I really needed to hear, something that was hard for me to accept. You helped me, Jeongguk.âÂ
His brows twitch and it is like sunlight filtering through the clouds, the way a small ball of light delicately breaks through the shadow on his face. Your heart writes it down on the bark of your tree in flowery proseâit is a moment that gives you the inkling that you should remember it, and youâre not really sure why.Â
Jeongguk pats down your arm. A singular, ephemeral and a significant caress that is charged with a range of words that he doesnât get to say, for a phone rings somewhere behind the place youâre standing. He nods his chin towards it, sliding his hands into the pockets of his black sweatpants, and it is now that you perceive that heâs changed out of his scrubs into a monochrome leisure outfit. A black oversized top, matching sweats, socked-feet inside white slippers. Even his glasses fit his choice of colorâa prettification that makes your knees wobble again, but not in such a drastic way as before. Â
âThis is the fourth time heâs calling you,â he says, speaking of the phone ringing, but you have very little care for it. Your body, automatically, out of horrible habit, tells you to care, but you feel a strong tendril of strength that helps you resist it, stand up to itâand stand up to your brother. âThatâs why Iâm here. He wonât stop.âÂ
You glimpse behind your shoulder at the screen of your phone filled with only the letters of Yoongiâs name. No picture, no emoji. You think that quite perfectly illustrates your relationship with him and you scoff, returning your gaze back to Jeongguk, who nibbles his lower lip absentmindedly, eyes following each movement you make.Â
Yoongi canât get to you when youâre inside this environment. He doesnât have the key to it.Â
The ringing falls to nothingness and a half-minute passes before he calls again. Anger curls in your gut and you turn around, snatching your phone off the ivory bathroom sink, because if you donât bite the bullet and answer his call, he wonât leave you alone. You press the green button and before you can place the device to your ear and say something, Yoongi beats you to it.Â
He spills out his radical worry, intertwining your name into the sentence that threatens to impair your environment.Â
âWhy didnât you pick up the phone? I was worried sick that something happened to you. You shouldâve been home an hour agoââ
Your towel shifts as your trembling returns to you, nearly exposing your vulnerable parts, and you set your phone down on the sink, putting him on speaker phone. You wrap the soft fabric tighter around you and connect your gaze to Jeonggukâs in the mirror. Your brother spills on, no longer interrupted.Â
Sorrowfulness, in vivid hues of blue, draws out across Jeonggukâs countenance.Â
ââItâs snowing like crazy. Where are you?âÂ
Your throat dries, but you will your strength to last a little longer. You clench your fists and do not tear your eyes away from Jeonggukâs, which seem to have the same determination. Heâs a monumental pillar, ready to catch you if you feel faint, and you feel this in a great depth that has the epoch-making ability to replenish you. Even far away in a memory, you deem.Â
âIâm with a friend,â you croak out and you repeat the short sentence with a bit more heroism because you donât wish to be suggestive of weakness. Not again, not ever. A subdued light floods Jeonggukâs eyes in slow motion at your words, giving you a sense of pride and validation. A specialty of his; it must be the bottom of his kindness, the foundation of his heartâthis very unique act of emotional service. And you close your palm over it, clinging to it with all your might. âI was taking a shower. Iâll get dressed and come home.âÂ
The truth in the rawest form; the exposure of your life beyond the restraints of his standards. You fear his reaction, you fear his reaction so much that within the silence of him comprehending your words you almost go to seek Jeonggukâs comfort in any way heâs willing to give you, but Yoongi stops you.
Yoongi surprises you.Â
âOkay. Give me your friendâs address. Iâll pick you up.âÂ
Your heart, with full force, kicks against your ribcage just once.
You didnât expect his resignationâand you wouldâve never guessed it would come plaited with such a gentle form of care, for his care has never been gentle. It has always been stifling, frantic and utterly manic.Â
And the way you lick your lips, swallow and take a new breath in this even newer reality, it feels as though you won. You won the invisible war with your brother who has wounded you too much for you to get up.Â
But you did.
You got up, and Jeongguk refreshed you, prepared you to fight back and win this round.Â
It must be his words in your mouth, ones he silently transmitted to you through your potent eye contact with him in the mirror. It must be, you believe it to be so, because at this moment youâre too stunned to do anything.Â
âNo need. My friend will give me a ride home.âÂ
Jeongguk visibly relaxes, nodding solemnly, approving. A spasm of excitement buzzes in your tummy at the sight, and you canât help the small growth of your smile. And it, too, is complete when he half reciprocates it, a dimple appearing by the corner of his mouth that is lifted in your honor, in the honor of what you both managed to do in the span of one hour.Â
âAlright, tell her to drive slow.âÂ
Yoongi ends the phone call. Jeongguk pulls his hands out of his pockets and begins to crack his knuckles, rolling his shoulders back as if he were in a stressful situation that strained all of his muscles. You bite your lip to relieve yourself of all the buzzing sensations that crawl upon your every nerve ending, but your abrupt laughter releases your teeth from the pillow.Â
Her.Â
You laugh so hard that it forces you to hide your face in the towel, the sound muffled but real, alive and exhilarating. And when you peek at Jeongguk in the mirror for the last time, you catch his smile widening and breaking, at last, into a grin that mirrors your enthusiasm.Â
âThis is your life,â he rasps, adding your name, which propels butterflies to tickle, fleetly, your tummy. âYour life by your own rules. Enjoy every moment of it. You deserve it.â
And with that he leaves, clicking the door shut behind him.Â
Your tea has gone cold, but the cinnamon scent is still prominent.Â
Jeongguk is manspreading on the couch, one fist propped on his thigh while he is hunched over his loud phone that he clutches in his other hand. He doesnât notice you as you paddle softly to the kitchen counter to take a sip of your teaâand it isnât until you slurp the nippy liquid that he rips his attention away from the videos he was watching. He locks his phone immediately, pocketing it, and bathes his crepuscular apartment in an ample silence.Â
You're glad for the lack of light.Â
Witnessing the state of you without his presence was a scare. The traces of your mascara tears were scattered with flecks and specks on your cheeks that the stream didnât rinse off, and your eyelids have become swollen with the excessive amount of crying youâve done within the fateful hour. Your excitement hasnât been shunned by your sparsity of confidence, however. In fact, it keeps on increasing, having transfigured into a velvet ribbon that you wrapped around the bark of your tree whilst getting dressed. You fondled it then and you fondle it now, dwelling on the matter that went down, and how good it felt. How right, how freeing. But owing to what happened, to what Jeongguk has done for you, youâd much rather be pretty in his eyes right now.
And youâre anything but pretty.Â
Youâre a ruination. About to be rebuilt into something pretty. Or someone.Â
Setting the cup down, you smile at the taste of cinnamon and cloves, liking the way it is so redolent of who Jeongguk is. You hope it fills your dreams later tonight, bursting there into smithereens that you can carry inside yourself.Â
As little talismans.Â
To keep you company. To keep the perception of the safety Jeongguk had provided you tucked within the crevices of your bodyâso you can go back to it, remind yourself of it as soon as you start to forget.Â
âReady to go?âÂ
His voice penetrates the silence, announcing that you are to leave the fortress-like environment you are already missing. You direct your eyes, for the last time, at the little gleeful Gingerbread man, graze the tip of your thumb over his smile in an effort to engrave it there as a keepsake. And then you nod, though youâre not ready.Â
Youâll never be ready. What if your freedom disappears as soon as you cross the threshold of your home?Â
You blink the thought away. Grow weary of your deathless fear that just continues rising in your psyche. You wish you could kill itâor rather have Jeongguk asphyxiate it, just so it stops whispering those what ifs, those questions and those hostile words.Â
âYeah, letâs go.âÂ
Jeongguk walks past you and returns to his place where he stood a little while ago. He places two black helmets on the counter. One bigger and one particularly smaller. You wonder if it belonged to Ka-eun once, if the inside of the helmet is still perfumed with the scent of her hair.Â
Another ifs.Â
You look away. Your forefinger finds his pink vape, fondling it, saying goodbye. Youâll terribly miss this life you lived in this apartmentâand once you get home, you plan to pray for another snow, so you can escape, so you can live properly. Here within this warmth; here where all things are possible, aromatic and whimsical.
Jeongguk studies you, and as soon as you instinctively glance at him, he extends his hand and closes his fingers around your tousled bun. It brings back a memory, a painful memory of the past, when your father would run his fingers through your wet hair. Back when you were a child, when everything was normal and your father loved you. No matter the weather, you would slip away to the petite creek behind the house. Your hair was so long that it would drift upon those soft ripples. Even the wind would gather it and soak it in the waterâto cleanse it off all the bad words your mother would utter over it. Too long. Itâs shameful. It gets in your food. Itâs wet again? Itâs dripping all over my floors. Mop it up. God, youâre useless. Do it properly. Water was invariably your means of escapism. Oh, how could it not be when youâre a water sign yourself. And your father was the only one who would dry your hair with a hand towel he would keep in his study for you before your mother saw, before she could curse you for another lifetime.Â
And the way Jeongguk does it now, you metamorphose into that small child that never did anything right. Suddenly, your hair is long againâand you didnât cut it when you turned fifteen and your father somehow stopped loving you, stopped paying attention to you, stopped drying your hair. And as small as you are right now, your heart regrets the loss of your dearest papa.Â
Your hair hasnât been touched since the death of him.Â
Since he couldnât touch it anymore from the afterlife.Â
The tears burn now behind your eyes, but you stifle them back. You donât want to cry anymore, you donât want to experience this pain any longer. You canât even look at Jeongguk in fear those liquid feelings would betray your will; you can only focus your gaze on that vape of his. And before you know what youâre doing, you're grasping it and placing it between your lips.Â
My nerves are asking for more, he had said and you relate to him on such a profound level that it feels gratifying once you puff on it and the strawberry scent imbues your lungsâto such an extent that when you respire, you can feel it mingling with the oxygen. Itâs still there. Such sweetness. You understand why he likes it so much, why he canât stay away from it and smokes it, despite the fact he shouldnât mix it with his cigarettes.Â
Jeongguk smiles through the ivory fume, drifting his hand up to the crown of your head before he inspects the face-framing wisps. Theyâre damp, but not wet, not like the ball of your bun.Â
He lets his hand fall to his side. You lament it.Â
âYour hair is wet,â he says gently, pursing his lips. âI donât know if your bun will fit inside the helmet. You should put it inside your sweater, so you donât get sick.âÂ
It is something akin to a religious experience, not being told off for having wet hair. You mull over it, the fact he cares enough to tell you what to do, so you donât get stricken with illness. The tears rush forth with more verve, and you try your hardest to not cry again. Itâs like your father, a healthy and younger and pre-you version of him, is standing in front of you. Out of this world, heavenly, this moment is.Â
You take another puff. You must.Â
âItâs good, isnât it?â Jeongguk asks, a lopsided smile hanging upon his lips. His eyes flick down to your parted mouth exhaling out the smoke that blends in with the cinnamon spice. âKeep it.âÂ
You blink in surprise. âAre you sure?âÂ
He nods, busying himself with something on the other side of the kitchen, beside his refrigerator. In a minute heâs back, carrying a bulbous sack of foreign items that he plants into your free hand.Â
âTake these fruits home. I put the cinnamon tea inside, too.âÂ
You part your mouth, touched to the core. Open the sack and uncover that heâs put inside three figs and two teabags. You pout, whisk your eyes back to him to see him nibbling on his lip, features back to being solemn and glossy. Heâs breaking a sweatâperhaps fearful that youâll turn him down, laugh at it and brush it off. Youâre heard of Ka-eun doing this on many occasions and if thereâs anything you could do for him, to caress that scar of his, you shall not be like her.Â
You fold the paper sack and clutch it to your chest.Â
âIâll eat it and drink it all,â you say, but you donât mean the latter. Youâll put the teabags on your nightstandâto have him close. âThank you. Youâre so kind.âÂ
His following exhale is a sigh of relief and he nods, irises preoccupied with something on the upper part of your sternum. When you follow his sight, heâs already taking a step forward and discarding you of the unknown thing that he was focusing on. You realize itâs a fluff from the towel when he flicks it off from his fingertipâand then, as if he didnât do such a groundbreaking thing for you, he takes both of the helmets.Â
âIâd give you more but that's all I have.âÂ
The ground breaks, and so does your heart.Â
He turns on his heel and heads for the hall. The atmosphere is hushful, but tranquil as you both put on your shoes and jackets. Jeongguk holds the door open for you, waiting for you to step out first before he does. He clicks it shut, waits again for the sing-song tone to tell him itâs locked, and then youâre in the elevator.Â
The elevator that is microscopic, even for two people.Â
You glance behind yourself at the mirror, find yourself pallid and colorless. Insecurity gnaws at you, and so you pinch your cheeks, one by one. Jeongguk watches you and shakes his head at you once you notice his stare. Thereâs no room, no time for any exchange for words because the elevator opens and he signals to you to go first with a tilt of his head.Â
And that is what brings color to your cheeks, not your pinching.Â
His bike outside of the apartment complex stands forlornly. The black cover over it is densely snow-laden, and the snowflakes flutter and spin in the air more tenderly than they did earlier. You, yourself, stand back with your sack and watch him do the work. He hands you, wordlessly, your helmet and once his hand is free, he slides his own down his head, popping open the visor. Nimbly, he takes both ends of the cover and lets the snow glissade down on the patch of grass behind his bike, which is draped with the same substance. Then, he expertly folds it and stuffs it inside the trunk, lifting his arm in your direction and asking for the sack, which he neatly places inside as well.Â
Youâre breathless once heâs finishedâand youâre empty of all air when he begins to concentrate on you.Â
His eyes are saturated with something sensitively dark as he takes your helmet from your arm. The close proximity tugs at your heart and you feel smaller than you did in his apartment. Smaller in a way that suggests youâre being taken care of. His icy hands undo your bun, but he doesnât give you back your scrunchie. Mindlessly, he drags it down his wrist. Your cheeks heat up within this wuthering vicinity, and Jeongguk protects your wet hair from the wind by pulling the hem of your scarf over your head, tucking your strands inside. Your lungs forget to breathe when he glides the helmet down your head with extra tenderness and necessitates for your eyes, flipping up the visor.Â
His hands remain on the helmet as if upon your cheeks, inspecting.
Always inspecting.Â
âAll good?âÂ
Your heart does a somersault. You nod.Â
âAre you scared?âÂ
Itâs not hitting you yetâthe fact youâll drift through the snowy streets with nothing to protect the sides of your body. No seatbelt, nothing. Only trust in the driver.Â
âIâll drive slow,â Jeongguk adds, his words an allusion to Yoongiâs, and you huff out a soft laugh, the lightheartedness from the occurrence consuming you all over again.Â
He taps the side of your helmet and walks towards his bike. Doesnât laugh, doesnât smileâas if he didnât share your enthusiasm in that aspect. He swings a leg over the body of the vehicle and presses the start button, the engine roaring into the evening. It seemingly opens its eyes: lights that line the body of the bike and its tires glare in dark neon red. Heâs a black figure against the violet, twinkling scenery, sprinkled with the daintiest, most intricate snowflakes, and your relation is clear to you as you observe him like this.Â
Youâre becoming attached to him. And maybe that should be the thing to be scared of.
Jeongguk curls his fingers in the air, gesticulating that you are to hop on, and you do. Because youâre not scared, because the idea of being scared of Jeongguk doesnât simply make sense to you.Â
The bike is cold as you follow his motions and sit down behind him. You hiss at the sensation and he glances back at you, though heâs not able to see much due to the thickness of his helmet.Â
âWhatâs wrong?âÂ
âItâs cold.âÂ
He coos to himself, ever so quietly that it gives you the impression that you werenât supposed to hear it. And before you can comprehend his softness and react, he speaks.Â
âYou have to hang on. Iâll get you home soon.â He tweaks the handlebars. âHold onto me.âÂ
As soon as you place your palms on his shoulders, the vehicle begins moving backwards in a more rapid way than you anticipated. You startle, gasping, tensing behind him and gripping his muscles. Jeongguk is quick with his responseâbefore he drives out of the sidewalk and onto the road, he moves your hand from his shoulder to his waist. Would move your other hand, too, but he has to handle the bike, turning in a swift way that takes your breath.Â
âHold me like this, donât let go,â he calls out, and you comply, intertwining your fingers before his chest, and then heâs drifting.
Your intertwinement loosens. You grapple the front of his puffer jacket for more support as the wind, interlaced with the unmerciful snowflakes, sails through the sides of your body, entering you through your throat, knotting your stomach. The vacant tide of the airy atmosphere appears to be sturdy and ruthless, but when you risk letting go of his jacket to flip down your visor because your eyes have started to burn, the sharpness of the breezing air is silky, elegant and lovely. Not severe, not harsh, not against you, but for you. Itâs like the air parts for your touch, enveloping you, and because you long to feel more of it, you extend your hand to the side, allowing yourself to simply feel. Feel life be compliant and lenient. You lean your head against the center of Jeonggukâs back and watch your hand be kissed by the wind and the snowflakes, not having one care in the world.Â
Everything wrong ceases to exist on this road with him.Â
You mimic the waves of the sea with your hand because you sense that youâre being carried to a better part of life. Youâre sailing, swimming, youâre happy and at peace, and those feelings are accompanied by the sudden sound of Jeonggukâs sweet chuckle. But you donât shy away. No, you donât have any reason to, for Jeongguk extends his hand, too. His ripples are way lengthier, protruding through the air in more depth due to the size of his hand. Together you swim like this just for a brief, blissful momentâhe, in the front, you behind him like the follower you are, like the child you are in your adulthood.Â
And the time frame of this felicity doesnât pause at the red light.Â
Youâve situated your hands back to his chest, and Jeongguk rubs them in fast motions, warming them up, glancing back at you.Â
âDid you flip down your visor?â he questions, his voice deepened by the adrenaline of the ride.Â
You nod, internally geeking at the fact heâs touching your hands. âI did. My eyes were burning.âÂ
âGood.âÂ
Your heart is delectated by that praise. Content drowsiness seizes you while your joy beats, meekly, in your belly. And it is now that you perceive that youâre hugging him. It may be through a myriad of warm layers, but youâre hugging himâand heâs holding your hands, caring enough about them being cold while his own are frosty, but still filmy, still soft, still gentle. And this time, when he lets go, you donât lament their absence because heâs buried in you, somehow, the trust, the security that he will touch you again.Â
Thereâs nothing to be afraid of.Â
Heâll come back around.Â
Everything is okay.Â
You must have fallen asleep with your one eye open because you donât even recognize how much time has passed. Jeongguk taps your hands again, calling you by your name, and you hum, feeling him burying that trust deeper by the gesture, feeling yourself getting used to being touched by him.Â
âIâm driving through your busâs line now, I need you to tell me where you live.âÂ
You straighten and squint in the dark, deliberating your surroundings. Youâre four stops away from the one you get off on.Â
âGo straight and then take the first turn,â you navigate him, your tone marked by your sleepiness. âIf you see the trees in the distance, thatâs where my house is.âÂ
You return to your former position, resting peacefully on his back, and youâre about to close your eyes again, but Jeonggukâs following question fling them right open.Â
âShould I stop a few houses down?âÂ
Youâve never had Yoongi expecting your arrival, so youâre not sure if heâll be standing by the window, waiting for your friendâs car to park in the driveway. You hesitate, but are inclined to go with his suggestion, though Jeongguk continues to speak in your silence.Â
âI donât want you to deal with his bullshit once he sees that Iâm not a girl.âÂ
His intonation is snappy, laced with his own personal vexation from your relationship with your brother. Your lips curl in a satisfied smile, quivering under your helmetâand here and now, the guilt doesnât creep in, the inert need to stand up for him doesnât resurface. You take pleasure in the way heâs bothered by it and the emotion stays. Youâre so glad for it that you softly pat his chest a few times and agree with his suggestion.Â
It dawns on you that his vexation with your brother is the reason why he didnât share your enthusiasm when you stood outside of his apartment complex. Your inner child dances around the tree within you, the tails of the velvet ribbon brushing through her long, long hair.Â
Jeongguk sighs once he nears your house and you deem he does so because he sees how itâs positioned. The ivory castle of doom dominates the street, overlooking all the other smaller houses, which face each other, while perched on a hill. Thereâs nowhere for him to hide, not now when heâs driven up the hill.Â
He kills the engine, parking the bike by the side of the road. Your hands are numb as you untangle them. You shake them in the air in an effort to get your blood pumping in them. Jeongguk remains sitting and you take it as a sign to hop off first, which you do. Your bum is bitingly ice-cold and, hissing, you rub it. Jeongguk laughs at you, popping open his visor. His eyes are crinkly and starry while he amusedly looks at you, and thereâs some kind of intent to his stare that makes your stomach feel all fuzzy.Â
You burn under the helmet.Â
Blood flows to your digits, and therefore you use them to rid yourself of the protective headpiece. You struggle, however. Stuck in it, you canât move itâno matter how hard you try, how many muscles you flex in order to discard yourself of it. You hear a muffled chuckle, and then you feel cold hands against yours, pulling up the helmet with a certain kind of precision and strength you donât possess. And there is the close proximity again, jumbling your guts. The depth to the eye contact and unvoiced words that are passed through the wind, which blows through your sweat-clad hair and forehead, unraveling your scarf, baring you for his eyes to see. A wispy strand of hair gets entangled in your eyelashes, flying through the planes of your face, and Jeongguk doesnât put it away. He surveys it as he contemplates somethingâand at this moment all you can think about is how heâs never not lost in his thoughts.Â
The boy is always reflecting on something within the complex space of his mind, and you deem thatâs why thereâs an entire canvas of stars in his eyes. The universe must have given it to him, hand-picked by God, because his head is permanently in the clouds.Â
How beautiful that is, how momentous.Â
âYou fell asleep on me,â he rasps, as if he himself couldnât believe it. âIt wasnât that bad then, was it?âÂ
You loop that strand of hair behind your ear and shake your head, flicking your eyes for a split second to the unlit balcony of your parentsâ bedroom. How great and bad would it be, if they stood there. You donât know why your heart is seeking them at this moment, why your eyes looked there, but you leave it be. Some purpose it has, but your mind doesnât have to understand it right now. You find peace in that.Â
âYouâre a safe female driver,â you joke, your words split by your soft laughter, but Jeongguk isnât amused, not anymore. You bite your lip, your pleasure from it heightening. âI was scared at first, but then it felt liberating.âÂ
Jeongguk nods, attuned to your experience. He hangs your helmet on one of the handle bars. âSo youâre willing to ride with me again?âÂ
He peeks at you, magnetically pulling your answer out of you by the laws of the stars in his eyes, and as you blush, you melt. You irrevocably and nonsensically melt.Â
âYeah, but remind me to bring my gloves next time,â you say, grinning so wide the muscles in your cheeks ache. You pull down the sleeves of your jacket to keep the cold from penetrating them. Jeongguk notices, but if he smilesâyou canât tell. Heâs still wearing his helmet.Â
You think about his offer in the short interlude, looking forward to it. Youâd get on and drive back with him to his apartment if you could. When will the next time be, though? He doesnât drive to school on his bikeâhe uses public transportation and you wonder why.Â
âWhy donât you take the bike to school?âÂ
Jeongguk inhales a big gust of air, tilting his head back. The snowflakes fall into the wide hole of his helmet, sitting on his nose. As he mulls over his response, his eyes land on you with a tendril of ferocity that puzzles you.Â
âIâd rather not give them any more reason to talk about me.âÂ
He begins slapping his hands back and forth, an act that portrays how nervous he is to talk about this. The stars in his eyes lower to dullness, his irises unwilling to pierce yours. You recollect his nerves and how unwilling he was to flesh them out and unriddle them, too. You know, from his past bus stop heart-spilling, that he doesnât have many friends within his field, but he never mentioned that they genuinely dislike him. You never heard the details, the gravity of this day-to-day problem. And you feel so bad for him that as he looks out into the distance across the hill, you take the necessary step towards him and take his hand into yours.Â
It is the most courageous thing youâve ever done, but Jeongguk is perturbed.Â
And you donât know it is due to the light unexpectedly turning on in the bedroom of your parents until he pushes you back onto the sidewalk and towers over you, creating a shadow over you that hides you from your brother, who has entered your parentsâ bedroom to spy on whether youâve come home or not.Â
âHeâs there,â he clarifies in a hushed tone, completing the puzzle piece, and when you lean your head out of the shadow, he gently presses you back into safety by cradling your ear.Â
But you canât dwell on the touch, not when your heart thrashes against your ribcage with such dreadful, stabbing trepidation because Yoongi never goes to your parentsâ bedroom. As far as you know, he hasnât been there since their death. He kept their door bolted tight for the longest time and it remained so until you begged him to give you the key, so you could keep the room tiny in their honor whenever you missed them. He believed ghosts swarmed its walls there the most out of all the rooms in the house, and if the double doors remained locked, they would stay awayâand they would stay away from you, even more so with the bracelet he braided you. You persisted, reminding him of the black plait, and he surrendered. For cleaning and nothing else; we donât come here for any other purposes, he had decided.
This should be the thing to be scared of. Yoongi prancing around the room as if your parents never died, as if he never swore heâd never walk there again, as if his belief in the paranormal never haunted his mentality.Â
This is flat-out terrifyingâand bears the image of betrayal.Â
Your throat dries out, and your lips form that pout of yours.Â
âIs he⌠still there?â you ask, your voice breaking in consequence of your full-body trembling, and the stars in Jeonggukâs eyes plummet to an unmitigated darkness.Â
He doesnât vacillate as he pushes your head to his chest and holds you to him, keeping you safe in his shadow while he discreetly checks if his presence is still by the balcony windows. His fingers dig into the thickness of your hair, and you wish he would pull on it, so you wouldnât feel this sagging pain in your sternum, which forces your knees down, which forces your tears like strings of a puppet.Â
You donât want to cry, and you donât want to believe this is real. His room is next to your parentsâ, for Godâs sake. He couldâve spied from his own window and seen you perfectly fine. Without any obstacles, without causing any of these nagging difficulties.Â
âHeâs gone. The lights are off.âÂ
Thereâs no relief from his words. Thereâs nothing that could alleviate you from what you saw. And you donât hold back. You tell Jeongguk of the horrible picture as he continues to hold you to him, his fingers sinking deeper into your scalp.Â
âHe never goes to my parentsâ bedroom. He keeps the door locked and he allows me inside just to clean because I begged him to. What is this? He decided that we would never go there.â
Jeongguk doesnât say anything for a while. He merely breathes with you, his chest lifting and falling while he contemplates the information. His heart is dead silentâjust like the room.Â
Or so you thought.Â
âI donât think you should trust anything he says,â he utters, at last, withdrawing you from his chest to glimpse into your eyes. Dark, dark those pools are. No stars in sight. âFuck his stupid rules.âÂ
You gasp for air, frustrated that this is your life, that itâs interwoven with those rules of his that you no longer respect.Â
âIâll have a cigarette just so he doesnât think you were with me, but thatâs the last time Iâm abiding his fucked up rules and views. I want you to know that. This stops today.â
Heâs right, and as he smokes his cigarette and you grip his vape in your fist, puffing from it simultaneously with him, the new decision begins to plunge down your body. This stops today, and the decision roots in your belly like a pebble in a creek once he stubs out his cigarette and gets on his bike, pulling out the sack of figs and cinnamon tea and handing it to you.Â
This stops today, and the next time he takes you for a ride on his bike, he will park by your house for Yoongi to see.
Although, you donât realize, not in your poisonously blossoming spite, that you wonât see Jeongguk anytime soon, and that he wonât hop on his bike for months.Â
You donât realize in the moment, as youâre waving Jeongguk goodbye while he drives off, that your efforts are everlastingly useless.Â
And that is the curse your mother spoke over you when you were still a child with long, dripping wet hair. That is the demon that lives in the walls of your parentsâ bedroom.Â
Let out, freed, having been given permission by the breaking of spoken rules to ruin your life.Â

Fixing Vander and Silco's story (a bit)
Using canon events! Sadly we can't actually fix it, but I hope this makes it a little better. I make my own edit proposal at the end that changes the bar scene to include Felicia without issues.
They meet in the mines, and meet Felicia and her partner there too. They end up together somehow (I think we can put the brotherly allegations to rest now, eh?) and one of them (or both) inherit/buy a bar.
Although Vander is the barman, there is no indication Silco doesn't own or co-own the place. After all he comes to take it eventually as his own, and he's still not bartending. That's just not his gig.
It's implied that Vander and Silco made it, as in, got away from the mines, while Felicia clearly didn't, as she comes home to both her daughters with mining gear and gloves.
So despite Vander and Silco building the Lanes together, the mines aren't closed, and the work "isn't done".
Felicia says they've done it, and Vander is happy to celebrate their success. Meanwhile, Silco has his "NoZ" Nation of Zaun book in which he's scribbling, still planning.
Vander's first memory that Viktor sees even has Silco holding that book.
Later, in season 1 episode 3, we see that Vander tells Silco that he had Vander's respect, the Lanes' respect, but it "was never enough".
There's also this fakeout moment in the memory at the bar, where Vander says they're done, and Silco replies with "You're gravely mistaken". And I thought he was going to go all zealous and say "We'll only be done when we have the Nation of Zaun", but no, he claims he's Bozo 1.
And imo, he is probably right. He calls out Vander in act 1 saying "I trusted you and you betrayed me", and Vander does not contest this. It makes the most in character sense as well that Silco is the brains of the operation while Vander is the brawn.
And we can conclude that Silco's goals were always "bigger" and that the Lanes were indeed not enough.
Years pass, during which we can only assume Silco keeps building his Nation of Zaun and Vander happily bartends and manages the Lanes with Silco. Felicia keeps working the mines and raises Vi, then Powder.
Vi is at least 11, if not more, by the time she's on the bridge. This is just consistent with her model, but also to make her 18+ by the time of act 2.
It's a long ass time for Vander and Silco to be running a bar and the Lanes together. Even assuming Vi is more 8 or 9yo, Vander and Silco spend all that time being together.
Sadly, their models aren't aged very well.
We are also forced here to make some unfortunate assumptions.
It's not a problem, IMO, for Silco to know Felicia and be close to her. It's a problem for him to not be close to Vi and Powder too. Close enough to recognise them at least.
It's easy to say, "Well, Felicia went back to the mines and raised her kids and wasn't super involved with Vander and Silco, who lived much higher up in their bar." Adult friendships and all that.
IT MAKES SENSE, but then it makes zero sense that Vander would murder his life's partner, a man he's been with 10 years at MINIMUM (fuck knows how long they were together while in the mines), over the death of a friend in a revolt they allegedly BOTH participated in.
The memories also imply that Silco is responsible somehow, for throwing a molotov. And yet the molotov doesn't kill the enforcer.
But Vander is shown in the opening of Act 1 season 1 pummeling one to death himself, long after the rest of the revolt has died down. That enforcer wasn't getting back up lol
So whatever we pick, because the writers made Felicia and Silco close, they create a plot hole either way.
Either Vander is whacko and murders his husband over a dead friend at a revolt he set up (since he repeatedly apologises for what he did, and claims he "lost his head after she died" and had that guilt on his hands too)
Or Silco and Vi and Powder spend ALL of season 1 acting like they don't know each other at all. Then Silco takes in Powder and somehow never comments on the fact he was friends with her mom.
Everything being triggered by Felicia's death also means that Vander's emotional thematic moment dropping the gauntlets after seeing what his violence led to is then followed up by a horrible attempted murder on the love of his life, which is... you know. Bad writing.
So I propose that they indeed drift apart. Silco knows of Felicia's kids, and they hangout a bit, but they aren't that close. She's busy mining and being a mom, and Silco is busy making the safe Zaun he promised to deliver.
The creation of that Zaun leads them to act out revolts and uprisings. Vander is happy to follow. He's angry, like he tells Vi. And this manifests in violence. Silco points his violence. It's how they create the Lanes and the moniker of Hound of the Underground. A hound usually has a master, after all.
Vander is Silco's hound, and I think, in Vander's mind this absolves him of some of the consequences of his actions.
So when his friend dies on the Bridge, even if they haven't been that close in a while, well, it's easy to put the blame on Silco.
Since we're following the new canon timeline... we'll have to have him go back with the girls, ready to turn a new leaf.
I think the best way here is to have him either dropping them at an orphanage, or back at their home (trusting Vi to look after Powder for a while) or with friends.
That way, Vi and Powder aren't immediately in Silco's legs back at the drop.
Then Vander and Silco take part in the "clean up" at the bridge. They go get bodies, and since they have no real estate in the fissures, they commit them to the sea (we have canon monsters in there, so I'm sure it all gets gobbled up).
That way, we explain why Vander is weirdly shaved, and why Silco and him are at in the Pilt: they just commited the bodies of the fallen to the waters.
There may have been many others, but Silco and Vander stay there, in the shallows, as they talk.
Vander is done. He doesn't want more of this. He thinks Silco went too far with pushing this one to the bridge. Piltover got defensive and they lost too many people.
Silco doesn't get it. Where he goes, so does Vander, but Vander is his own man, he decided to come too, and he killed enforcers too. Felicia's death is tragic, but as he later will tell Renni about the death of her son: at least she died fighting for the cause, and not some petty infighting, or worse, an accident at the shitty mines.
Vander, the Hound, is not only mad with grief, he refuses to carry the blame of his own actions. It's a character flaw and that's fine! The angry man channels that anger with violence, the only way he knows how.
Silco is probably shocked, and may not say the right things to calm Vander down.
Silco is under the assumption that Vander BELIEVES IN HIS DREAM. That he's a true believer of the Nation of Zaun, like Sevika turns out to be. A true believer would understand sacrifice. A true believer would understand too, that stopping now, after Felicia's death, would make THAT VERY DEATH POINTLESS.
So maybe he screams at Vander! What do you MEAN abandoning the fight? What do you mean, being content with the Lanes? How dare you? You'd make her sacrifice meaningless! You'd make Felicia die a pointless death!
And Vander would bellow that it's over. No more death. No more bloodshed. He rescued her kids from that bridge, and they don't deserve to die too, they don't deserve to see more death.
And Silco screams back that it's their job to create Zaun so these children won't have to see more death. Vander is just delaying the struggle.
And then, perhaps, Silco may even mock him. Say that Vander can't change like that. That he's not that sort of person, to just hang up his gauntlets and go peaceful. That Felicia's blood is on his hands too, and that the only way out is through more blood, more sacrifice.
It would be a horrible point to make, if then Vander truly loses it. Silco runs, and Vander's hound comes out, just grabbing Silco and trying to drown him.
It would be poetic, because then Vander goes home in shame. Gets his arm patched up, hides the scar under a brace, collects the kids and tries to pretend like HE CAN BE THAT MAN. Even though he surrendered his gauntlets and metaphorical violence, and tries to lean into the bartender chill persona, there's what he did to Silco.
And later he'll tell Vander "I'll show you what you really are". Because Silco knows that Vander's promises of being a peaceful good dad are flimsy at best.
Anyway, Vander goes home, and eventually the impact of what he's done really hits him. He's single now, and with kids, and the Lanes to run, and nobody knows where Silco is.
Vander slowly realises Silco was right about one thing. Just because Vander followed, doesn't mean he wasn't behind that event on the bridge. Becoming the solo leader of the Lanes has to have hammered that home for him. Suddenly so much responsibility thrust on him.
So Felicia's death was on him too, and his actions against Silco are the proof that he is indeed the sort of man Silco said he was. At any rate, surrendering violence as his first reaction to any trigger will take a lot of work.
He goes to their old hideout and leaves a letter for Silco.
In the happy AU, Silco finds it, and returns to Vander BEFORE ever meeting Singed. There is no glowing eye, no shimmer, and no cannery.
In our AU, Silco never finds the letter. He finds Singed instead. Starts helping him develop shimmer.
I've been thinking that since the goal of shimmer is a form of "keeping alive" and also "bringing back to life", then it's possible that Silco's glowing eye is a byproduct of shimmer experimentation.
And that the only way to keep it alive and function is more shimmer injections. It would otherwise be grey and dead like in the Nice AU.
So Singed is also a factor here. He gives our Silco a real way to deal scary violence to Piltover. And this changes our Silco. He's more radicalised, and more opposed to Vander, having discovered that Vander works with Grayson to keep Zaun under Piltover's boot (basically making sure the boot stays, but doesn't press down too hard).
Vander is, as always, the enforcer of the status quo.
And though this works for them timeline wise, it sadly doesn't change the fact that Silco should know who Vander's kids are.
Vi and Jinx can be excused for not recognising him, what with him being one of their mom's adult friends, and scarred. But Silco doesn't have that luxury. His great friend Felicia had two very distinctive kids, ONE OF WHICH VANDER FUCKING NAMED! And her death triggered his husband so badly he tried to kill Silco over it. If anything, Silco would be hyper-aware of Felicia's kids.
And no amount of alternate fix-its changes that. It's permanent damage to season 1's Silco.
I feel like we can fix Vander's side of things by inventing an entire scene at the Pilt as I did above, but we can't fix 10 years of knowing your friend's kids and then a lifetime of acting like you don't know them.
I think it also cheapens the found family aspect of both Vander and Silco's adoption. You're left to wonder if they took in the girls only because they were friends with the mom.
Silco's adoption of Jinx and co-dependence with her was great because it spoke of the similar shape of their traumas, and how unexpected their bond seemed.
But now it's redolent of friendly obligation. And lies.
How would I fix it by keeping Felicia in the picture?
I would fully remove Felicia's one-on-one with the boys. That night at the bar? It's a party. Young Sevika is here too!
Felicia and many others are there, all congratulating Vander and Silco over the creation of the Lanes. Eventually Silco tires of the social niceties and goes to write in his notebook at the bar. Or maybe there's a montage of the night as the crowds thin.
In the end, Silco is writing, and Vander is still socialising. He talks to 3 people--Felicia, her husband, and a random person. They thank him for all his work. They've done it! And the conditions in the mines are so much better now thanks to XYZ!
Vander is beaming, he's just so pleased. It's clear for him this is the end goal. Felicia asks him, pointing to Silco, if he's okay.
Vander laughs, says Silco is fine, but he's already got his head back in the clouds. You see, Silco doesn't just want the Lanes, he dreams of a free Nation of Zaun.
The other 2 laugh, but Felicia sobers up. She rubs her belly, thoughtful. Then she says "Sounds like a dream worth fighting for."
I don't think she even needs to say anything about being pregnant, but she could go on with something like "I'm expecting. A girl, I think. I know. And I would love if she could grow in a safe city. I'm so scared she'll have to live the way I did, growing up.'
And Vander smiles sadly and tells her, 'We've gotten this far, and we're not going back. We'll make Zaun safe for your kiddo, I promise you that.'
And that's it.
Vander knows OF Felicia. She is a community member. He knows her enough, maybe from Lanes meetings, that eventually he can recognise her children. But they're not friends, and SILCO definitely isn't friends.
And the disagreement after the bridge is fully about where to go from then on, and Vander deciding he wants to run the Lanes and keep them safe, that what they have now is good enough, while Silco wants "more".
That disagreement can turn nasty, and the fact Vander tried to drown Silco becomes a statement about how violent and temperamental he is as "The Hound of the Underground". Something he'll regret soon enough and spend the next few years working hard to try and change.
What do you think?

I'm coping. No beta, we will unpack the emotions Arcane put me through over the last 24 hours. TW: brief sui ideation/attempt. I imagine the Reader (along with Sky) came to Piltover and thus is closer to Sky than Viktor and Jayce but still grew up with Viktor and Sky. (Masterlist)
When the council building was struck, you were at home, unaware Viktor was among the wreckage.
When Jayce's body gave out from exhaustion, you stayed by Viktor's side and studied the Hextech.
When Viktor left, you ran after him, promising Jayce you would watch over him. Viktor protested but you followed anyway.
You helped the Undercity people, your people.
When Jayce attacked Viktor, deep in your heart you already knew he was gone but that didn't stop the heartbreak as you and Jayce fled from Ambessa and her army.
When Jayce asked you to flee, you stood your ground to help the fight against Ambessa.
When all hope was lost, you truly believed Viktor wad still in there and you would all be together again.
What a lie that was.
The cold ocean breeze brushes against you as you stand on the Bridge of Progress. You felt awful for resigning the way you did, especially with a Zaunite like you on the council now. From the rumours you heard Sevika seemed like a capable leader. You don't remember much from your time in the Undercity, you left before Silco took over. You finished your work and left behind that grand hall.
Where Hextech was born.
Where the dreams of poor little kids like you, Viktor and Sky seemed to be feasible.
That was a long time ago.
So now here You are. On this awful bridge deciding if you should go back to your apartment and hope your familial home is accessible. Both were filled with memories you couldn't shake off. Of simpler times, running up and down the halls with new ideas buzzing around faster than any of you could keep up with. Of late night studying and innovations. Of those late summers of your childhood, playing in the streets. Watching the boats disappear from the harbour. Traversing the metal jungle of the Undercity.
There was always another option. You stared into the deep dark abyss of the water below you. The thought crossed your mind more and more these days. You knew deep down, Viktor and Sky were suited for this city. Once Jayce came along, you faded into the story, another nameless face, a background character in the tale of Hextech. But Hextech is gone. Jayce and Viktor and Sky are gone. What is the point of staying around? Not even important enough to be an afterthought. The only people around to miss you were gone.
Your hand gripped the metal bars. In one one motion you swung your leg over. You bag swung heavily with you and banged against your side as it slipped off your shoulder and into the water below. You cursed at yourself. Of course you would manage to lose your bag in an emotional fit.
Defeated and embarrassed you climbed back over the railing. About to walk away you hear a ticking noise. There in the water, leaving a trail of wet newspaper and tape was a little metal boat.
Viktor's metal boat.
It ticked for another second and then it started to move. With a newfound urgency you rushed to the edge of the bridge! You leaped over the fence and down the slippery beams to reached the harbour underneath. Feet pounding against the concrete to reach the unstoppable little boat. It can't leave! Not Viktor's boat! Not the thing that inspired you all those years ago. Viktor's boat can't leave, you can't lose anymore!
Cruelly, the boat continued on the water. Moving farther and farther from the harbour. You legs felt heavy. Kneed battered against the concrete as you couldn't push yourself to go any further. That little boat, unshaken sailed out farther form your view.
"N-No... please... come back..."
Why? Why did it leave? How did even start up?! You never turned the key! How could it start up?! How could it leave?! How did the boat leave?! Was there even anything you could have done to save them?!
Them...
And you couldn't hold it back anymore. You screamed and sobbed into the night, uncaring of who would hear you. Fist pounding on the concrete. The anger and pain had all boiled up to the surface. How could they leave you? How could they be consumed by the Arcane? Why are you the one who remains. The afterthought, the helper, the one who gets the coffee, the one who no one even remembers. Why must you remain when the you people you held dear have all died?! How is this fair? How is this right?
Why, when everyone has found the strength to move forward, You stay behind.
Your painful wails slowly hushed as another frigid breeze blew off the water. Something small, crawling and alive land by your enclosed fist. You jerked back in shock only to see, unbothered and unafraid was a butterfly. It's white wings gleamed with a perlerscent shimmer. The butterfly fluttered from your fist and to the guard rail ahead of you. Shakily you made your way to it.
Just past it was the boat, still wading in the water, as the sunset poked from behind the clouds. The beams danced across the water, as if inviting the little boat closer to it. And it did. It rode the sunlight off into the horizon and was gone.
As if on cue, the butterfly once again flew onto your tightened fist. You felt like you understood the little creature. "Is this what you wanted me to see?"
It flittered its wings, fully opening for you look at the looping patterns, spirals swirling inside themselves. "Right, I think I understand now. Thank you, Viktor."
The butterfly fluttered away, taking that sense of unease and dread away with it.
You'll grieve for tonight. Tomorrow is a new day.
I meant for this to be a ViktorxReader but it turned into "Reader has spent the last couple years along side Viktor and Jayce and considers them both great friends and is close friends and colleagues with Sky, considering them all to be very precious to them", in case your wondering why the Viktor part seems a little light in this. Lowkey kinda hate the borders theyâll do for now.

English isnât my first language
The fluorescent lights of the Stark Tower kitchen are glaring, but not as much as Tony Starkâs smirk. Heâs leaning against the counter, casually sipping coffee like he doesnât have a single care in the world. But you know better. You see the faint twitch of his lips, the amused glint in his eyes thatâs practically begging you to break the silence.
âYouâre being weird,â you say, crossing your arms as you lean against the fridge.
âWeird?â he repeats, mock-offended. âIâm drinking coffee in my own kitchen. Whatâs weird about that?â
You raise an eyebrow. âThe way youâre looking at me. Like... like youâre picturing something.â
Tony doesnât miss a beat. âOh, Iâm definitely picturing something.â He tilts his head, eyes roaming over you in a way thatâs anything but subtle. âSomething that happened roughly seven hours ago, give or take.â
Heat rushes to your face, and you quickly avert your gaze. Seven hours ago, youâd been in Tonyâs bedâor rather, sprawled across it while his hands did things youâre not entirely sure youâll ever recover from. Itâs supposed to be casual, the thing you have with him. No feelings, no strings. Just⌠stress relief, as Tony had so eloquently put it when this arrangement started.
But Tony Stark has a way of making casual feel like a loaded gun, just waiting to go off.
âKeep it down,â you hiss, glancing toward the door. âDo you want the others to hear?â
Tony raises his eyebrows in mock innocence. âWhat others? Iâm pretty sure weâre alone.â
You donât dignify that with a response. Instead, you grab an apple from the counter, pretending to be far more interested in it than the infuriating man in front of you. Tony doesnât move. He just keeps looking at you with that stupid smirk that makes your stomach flip in a way thatâs both exhilarating and dangerous.
âYou know,â he says after a beat, âif you keep trying to play the ânothing to see hereâ card, itâs going to make things more obvious.â
âObvious?â You scoff. âThereâs nothing to make obvious.â
Tony sets his mug down and closes the distance between you in two easy steps. You barely have time to react before heâs towering over you, his arms boxing you in against the fridge. His cologneâsome kind of absurdly expensive blend that probably costs more than your rentâwraps around you like a second skin.
âSweetheart,â he says, voice low enough to send shivers down your spine. âIâm a genius. You think I donât notice the way you look at me when you think no oneâs watching?â
âI donâtââ
âOh, you do.â His lips curve into a smug grin, and damn it, why does he have to look so good doing it? âAnd letâs not forget how you canât seem to keep your hands to yourself when weâre alone.â
You open your mouth to argue, but he cuts you off, his voice dropping another octave. âDonât worry. I like it. But you might want to work on your poker face, darling, because if I can tell, you can bet your ass the others will.â
The implication makes your stomach twist. âThey donât know.â
âNot yet,â Tony agrees. âBut I wouldnât underestimate Romanoff. Or Rogers, for that matter. The guy might be old-fashioned, but heâs not blind.â
You groan, pushing against his chest to create some distance. âThis is exactly why we need to keep things⌠professional in public.â
Tony chuckles, stepping back just enough to let you breathe. âSure. Professional. Thatâs exactly the vibe we give off.â
You glare at him. âIâm serious, Tony. If this gets outââ
He interrupts you with a finger pressed to your lips. âRelax. Iâm not exactly running my mouth about it. What we doââ He leans in, his breath warm against your ear. ââor donât doâis nobodyâs business.â
A shiver runs down your spine, and you hate how easily he gets to you. You know you should say something, maybe call him out for being so infuriatingly cocky, but the words catch in your throat when his hand brushes against your hip, his touch just light enough to make you ache for more.
âYouâre impossible,â you mutter.
âAnd yet, here you are,â he quips, his lips grazing the shell of your ear.
Before you can respondâor do something stupid, like kiss himâthe sound of footsteps echoes down the hallway. Your heart leaps into your throat, and you shove Tony away, nearly knocking the apple off the counter in your haste to look casual.
The door swings open, and Steve Rogers walks in, his expression as neutral as ever.
âMorning,â he says, nodding at the two of you.
âMorning,â you reply, your voice a little too high-pitched for comfort.
Tony, of course, is the picture of nonchalance. âCap,â he says, raising his mug in a mock salute. âHowâs it going?â
Steve gives him a once-over, his gaze lingering just long enough to make you sweat. But if he notices anything unusual, he doesnât comment. Instead, he grabs a bottle of water from the fridge and heads for the door.
âTraining in ten,â he says over his shoulder. âDonât be late.â
As soon as heâs gone, you exhale a breath you didnât realize you were holding. âSee? This is why we need to be more careful.â
Tony shrugs, unbothered. âRelax. If anyone could smell trouble, itâd be Rogers. And he didnât say a word.â
âThat doesnât mean he doesnât suspect something.â
Tony smirks, his eyes sparkling with mischief. âMaybe. But then again, maybe he just thinks you canât resist my charm.â
You roll your eyes. âYouâre insufferable.â
âAnd yetâŚâ He steps closer, his voice dropping to that dangerously seductive tone that makes your knees weak. âYou keep coming back.â
Before you can respond, heâs gone, sauntering out of the kitchen like he doesnât have a care in the world. You, on the other hand, are left standing there, your heart racing and your head spinning.
This is going to be harder than you thought.
â Ë・âŕ¨âĄŕ§â Ë・â
Tonyâs fingers tangle in your hair, his lips trailing hot, demanding kisses down your neck as your back hits the soft sheets of his bed. The city lights outside cast long, flickering shadows across the room, but you barely notice. Youâre far too focused on the way Tonyâs hands roam your body like heâs memorizing every inch of you, the rough pads of his fingers igniting fire wherever they touch.
"You're incredible," he mutters, his voice thick with reverence and hunger as he leans back to look at you. His gaze rakes over you like you're the most exquisite thing he's ever laid eyes on, and for a moment, you're lost in the intensity of his expression. It's almost too much. Almost.
"You're not so bad yourself," you tease, though your voice comes out breathier than you'd like. It doesnât matter. Tony doesnât need words to know what he does to you.
He smirks at your reply, his trademark arrogance mingling with a rawness he rarely lets anyone see. He dives back in, his lips capturing yours in a kiss that leaves you dizzy and aching. Everything about him is overwhelming in the best possible wayâthe taste of his mouth, the scrape of his stubble against your skin, the way his hands grip your hips like he canât bear the thought of letting you go.
The night is a blur of heated whispers, tangled sheets, and the sound of your name falling from his lips like a prayer. By the time you both collapse back onto the bed, spent and panting, the world feels a little hazier, a little quieter. His arm is draped lazily over your waist, his body warm against yours as he presses a kiss to your temple.
âYouâre something else,â he murmurs, his voice soft but edged with that familiar playful lilt.
âSo Iâve been told,â you reply, your heart still racing as you close your eyes, letting the moment wash over you.
But then, his hand stills on your hip. Thereâs a beat of silence, followed by a quiet curse under his breath.
âWhat?â you ask, your voice sharp with alarm as you sit up slightly to look at him. âWhatâs wrong?â
Tony doesnât answer right away. Instead, he pulls back just enough to inspect the condom in his handâwhatâs left of it, anyway. The air between you shifts instantly, the charged intimacy replaced by something colder. His jaw tightens, his gaze flickering to yours, and you donât need him to say anything to understand.
It broke.
Your stomach twists, panic creeping in around the edges of your mind. You know what this means. You know the risks, the possibilities. And judging by the way Tony is staring at you, his usual confidence momentarily stripped away, he knows too.
âOkay,â you say quickly, sitting up fully and reaching for his hand. âItâs fine. Weâll handle this.â
âHandle it?â he echoes, his tone sharp. His fingers curl into a fist around the useless piece of latex, his frustration evident. âDo you have any ideaââ
âYes,â you interrupt firmly, your heart pounding in your chest. âI know. But freaking out isnât going to help.â
He exhales sharply, dragging a hand through his messy hair. âThis wasnât supposed to happen.â
You place your hand over his, squeezing gently. âI know. But it did, and weâll deal with it.â
For a moment, he just stares at you, his dark eyes searching your face like heâs trying to find somethingâreassurance, maybe, or some kind of solution to a problem neither of you can undo. Finally, he nods, though his jaw is still tight.
âIâll take care of it,â you say, trying to keep your voice calm and steady. âIâll get the pill tomorrow morning. Itâs not a big deal.â
His eyebrows shoot up, his expression a mixture of skepticism and concern. âNot a big deal? Y/Nââ
âTony,â you cut him off, your tone firmer now. âIâm serious. Itâs fine. These things happen. Thatâs why emergency contraception exists.â
He doesnât look convinced. If anything, he looks more agitated, his mind no doubt racing through every worst-case scenario. You can practically see the calculations happening behind his eyes, his genius brain working overtime to solve a problem that canât be solved with tech or money or wit.
âHey,â you say softly, reaching up to cup his face. His stubble is rough against your palm, but his skin is warm, grounding. âLook at me.â
Reluctantly, he does, his eyes locking with yours. Thereâs a vulnerability there, buried beneath the layers of charm and bravado he wears like armor. Itâs a side of him he rarely lets anyone see, and it makes your chest ache.
âItâs going to be okay,â you say, your voice steady. âI promise.â
He exhales slowly, some of the tension in his shoulders easing at your words. He places his hand over yours, holding it against his cheek like heâs drawing strength from your touch.
âYou shouldnât have to deal with this,â he murmurs, his tone softer now. âThis is my fault.â
âItâs not anyoneâs fault,â you say firmly. âIt just happened. And itâs not the end of the world.â
He studies you for a moment, his gaze searching yours like heâs trying to gauge whether you really believe what youâre saying. You hold his gaze, willing him to see that youâre not afraidâthat youâre in control, even if the situation feels precarious.
Finally, he nods again, his lips pressing into a thin line. âAlright,â he says quietly. âIf youâre sure.â
âIâm sure,â you reply, leaning in to press a soft kiss to his forehead. âNow, stop overthinking it and come back to bed.â
A faint smile tugs at the corner of his mouth, though it doesnât quite reach his eyes. âYouâre bossy, you know that?â
âSomeone has to be,â you tease, lying back down and pulling him with you. He goes willingly, his arms wrapping around you like heâs afraid to let go.
As you rest your head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, you feel the tension slowly drain from his body. He still holds you a little tighter than usual, and you know the worry is still there, lurking beneath the surface. But for now, youâre both safe in the quiet cocoon of his bed, and thatâs enough.
The morning sunlight spills into the bedroom, cutting through the blinds in thin golden slats. You wake up before Tony, which isnât unusual. His arm is slung lazily over your waist, and his face is relaxed in a way that makes him look younger, softerâlike heâs let go of the weight of the world, if only for a few precious hours.
You slip out of bed carefully, not wanting to wake him. Your feet hit the cold hardwood floor, and you grab one of his shirts from the edge of the bed, slipping it over your bare skin before padding out of the room. The small box you picked up from the pharmacy the night before sits on the kitchen counter, unopened. Your stomach twists as you pick it up, the weight of it heavier than it should be.
Itâs not the first time youâve taken the pill, and logically, you know what to expect. Itâs supposed to be a fail-safe, a last resort. But something about the circumstances makes your chest tighten as you swallow the pill with a sip of water. The air feels thicker this morning, heavy with an unspoken tension that you canât quite shake.
By the time Tony joins you, freshly showered and looking far too put-together for someone who stayed up so late, youâve shoved the box deep into the trash and plastered on your best neutral expression. He doesnât mention the pill. He doesnât ask if you took it, though you know heâs probably been thinking about it. Instead, he leans casually against the counter and makes a joke about the kitchen being out of coffee, his easy demeanor doing little to mask the faint tension in his voice.
You donât call him out on it. The last thing you want is to drag the conversation back into that same spiral of worry. Instead, you focus on normalcyâbreakfast, half-hearted banter, the comforting rhythm of your strange, secret dynamic.
Days pass. A week. Maybe more. At first, youâre fine, brushing off the gnawing anxiety at the back of your mind. But when the calendar flips over to a new month and your period is nowhere to be found, the panic starts to creep in.
You check your phone obsessively, googling every possible explanation that isnât what youâre afraid of. Stress, you tell yourself. Hormonal shifts. The pill can do this, right? Throw off your cycle? Itâs not like your body works on a perfect schedule anyway.
And yet, as the days continue to pass, your chest tightens a little more every morning. The thought of telling Tony lingers at the edge of your mind, a shadow that grows darker every time you push it away. You think back to the night it happened, to the way he looked at you when the condom broke. The frustration, the fearâitâs all burned into your memory, and youâre not sure you can bear to see that look again.
So you donât tell him.
When he asks casually a week later if âeverythingâs sorted,â you force yourself to smile and nod. âYeah,â you say, your voice far steadier than you feel. âIt was just a big scare. Everythingâs fine now.â
The relief that washes over his face makes your heart sink. He leans back in his chair, running a hand through his hair as his lips curve into an easy grin. âGood. Thatâs good.â
He doesnât realize the way your stomach twists when he says it. He doesnât notice the faint tremor in your hands as you reach for your coffee cup, your fingers brushing against the ceramic edge like itâs the only thing grounding you.
Tony doesnât dwell on it after that. Heâs good at compartmentalizingâtoo good, sometimes. Once heâs reassured, the topic is filed away in whatever mental vault he keeps for things he doesnât want to think about.
But for you, it lingers.
You try to push it down, to bury it beneath layers of distraction. Missions, training, pretending that the world hasnât shifted beneath your feet. But every time youâre alone, the weight of the lie presses against your chest, making it harder to breathe.
You catch yourself staring at him sometimes, wondering what he would say if you told him the truth. Would he panic? Shut down? Or would he surprise you, the way he sometimes does, with a level of vulnerability that makes your heart ache? You donât know, and the uncertainty is almost worse than the fear itself.
One night, as the two of you sit curled up on the couch watching some old black-and-white movie he insisted youâd love, you feel the words bubbling up in your throat. The urge to tell him is almost overwhelming, the silence between you stretching thin and taut like a thread about to snap.
âTonyââ you start, but he cuts you off with a lazy smirk, his hand brushing against your thigh.
âYouâre not actually paying attention, are you?â he teases, nodding toward the screen.
The moment slips through your fingers like water, and you force a laugh, shaking your head. âNot really,â you admit, though the words feel hollow in your mouth.
He grins, leaning in to kiss your temple. âYouâre lucky youâre cute.â
The warmth of his touch should be comforting, but all you feel is the gnawing guilt in the pit of your stomach.
Days turn into weeks. Youâve never been particularly religious, but you find yourself silently praying every night, begging for some kind of resolution that doesnât involve your entire world unraveling. You know you canât keep this up forever. Sooner or later, the truth will come out, whether you want it to or not.
But for now, you cling to the fragile illusion of normalcy, pretending that everything is fine, that the ache in your chest isnât growing louder with every passing day.
Itâs late one evening when the weight of it all finally becomes too much. Youâre standing in the bathroom, staring at your reflection in the mirror. Your skin looks paler than usual, your eyes shadowed with exhaustion. You press a hand to your stomach, your fingers trembling as you let out a shaky breath.
You canât do this. You canât keep pretending.
But when you step out of the bathroom and find Tony sitting on the edge of the bed, scrolling through something on his tablet with an easy smile on his face, the words die in your throat. He looks so⌠unburdened, so relieved.
You sit down beside him, your movements stiff and robotic. He glances at you, his expression softening as he sets the tablet aside. âHey,â he says, his voice low and warm. âYou okay?â
You nod, forcing a small smile. âYeah,â you lie. âIâm fine.â
Itâs not fine. None of this is fine. But as Tony wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you close, you let yourself fall into the comfort of his embrace, even if it feels like itâs built on a crumbling foundation.
Because right now, itâs easier to let him believe the lie than to face the truth.
And for better or worse, youâre not ready to let go of the fragile peace that lie has created. Not yet.
â Ë・âŕ¨âĄŕ§â Ë・â
The bathroom feels colder than usual, the air thick with a kind of tension you can almost taste. Youâre sitting on the closed lid of the toilet, staring at the small white stick on the sink like itâs a bomb waiting to go off. Your heart pounds so loudly in your chest that it drowns out everything elseâthe hum of the air conditioning, the distant city sounds drifting through the window, even your own breath.
Youâve been here for what feels like an eternity, though itâs probably only been a few minutes. The instructions on the box said three minutes, but youâre too scared to look. Too scared to confirm what your body has already been hinting at for days.
Your period is ten days late. Ten.
Youâve always been irregularâstress, missions, even the pill you took that morning can throw your cycle offâbut ten days? Thatâs more than a delay. Thatâs a sign.
Youâre holding your breath, your hands clenched tightly around the fabric of your pajama pants. You want to stand up, to take that final step and see the result, but your legs wonât move. Youâre frozen, caught between the urge to know and the overwhelming fear of what you might find.
When you finally gather the courage to stand, your knees feel shaky, like they might buckle under you. You lean over the sink, your trembling hand reaching for the pregnancy test. It takes everything in you to flip it over, to look at the little window that holds the answer to the question youâve been too terrified to ask.
Two lines.
Positive.
You blink, your breath catching in your throat as the reality of it sinks in. For a moment, you feel like the ground beneath you has shifted, like the whole world has tilted on its axis. This canât be real. This wasnât supposed to happen.
And yet, as you stare at those two little lines, a strange, unexpected feeling blooms in your chest. Itâs faint, fragile, but itâs thereâhappiness.
Your hand flies to your mouth as tears spill down your cheeks. You donât even know why youâre crying. Is it shock? Fear? Joy? Maybe itâs all of it, a tangled knot of emotions you canât begin to unravel.
You sink to the floor, your back against the cold bathroom tile, clutching the test in your hands like itâs a lifeline. Tears blur your vision, but you donât wipe them away. You just sit there, letting the wave of emotions crash over you.
You love him. Thatâs the thought that breaks through the chaos in your mind, clear and undeniable. You love Tony Stark. Of course, you do. Youâve loved him for longer than you care to admit, longer than this arrangement of yours has been going on. And now, youâre carrying a piece of him inside youâa tiny, fragile piece that terrifies you and fills you with a strange, aching kind of hope all at once.
But then the fear creeps back in, sharp and insistent.
You think about the way he reacted that morning after the condom broke, the tension in his shoulders, the way heâd paced like he was trying to solve an unsolvable equation. You think about the relief that washed over his face when you lied and told him your period had come.
He doesnât want this.
The thought makes your chest ache, the tears coming faster now. You know Tony. You know the walls heâs built around himself, the way he keeps people at armâs length, even when heâs letting them into his bed. You know how hard he fights to keep control over his life, his world, his emotions.
A baby? Thatâs not part of his plan. Hell, youâre not even part of his plan. Youâre supposed to be casual, no strings, no complications. This wasnât supposed to happen.
And yet, here you are, clutching a pregnancy test and crying alone in the bathroom, trying to figure out how youâre supposed to navigate this new reality.
You canât tell him. The thought hits you like a punch to the gut, but you know itâs true. You canât tell Tony. Not now. Not when you can still see the relief in his eyes from the last time you reassured him that everything was fine.
Heâll leave. The thought makes your stomach twist painfully, but you canât shake it. If you tell him, heâll panic. Heâll shut down, pull away, and youâll lose him completely. And as much as the idea of raising a child on your own terrifies you, the thought of losing Tony is worse.
So you donât tell him.
You wipe your tears, setting the test on the counter with shaking hands. Your reflection in the mirror looks haunted, your eyes red and puffy, your cheeks streaked with tears. You take a deep breath, splashing cold water on your face in a futile attempt to calm yourself. You need to pull it together. You need to figure out what comes next.
But for now, all you can do is stand there, staring at your reflection, trying to reconcile the life you thought you had with the one thatâs suddenly, irrevocably changed.
The door to the bedroom creaks open, and your heart leaps into your throat. You scramble to compose yourself, swiping at your eyes and plastering on a shaky smile just as Tonyâs voice drifts into the bathroom.
âHey, you alright in there?â he asks, his tone casual but laced with concern.
You swallow hard, forcing yourself to sound normal. âYeah,â you call back, your voice only wavering slightly. âJust⌠needed a minute.â
Thereâs a beat of silence, and then he hums softly, like heâs satisfied with your answer. âWell, donât take too long. I ordered breakfast, and you know how I feel about eating alone.â
You let out a weak laugh, your chest tightening at the sound of his voice. âBe right there.â
When you step out of the bathroom a few minutes later, your face freshly washed and your expression carefully neutral, Tonyâs already sprawled on the bed with a plate of food balanced precariously on his lap. He grins when he sees you, patting the spot beside him like nothingâs changed.
And for now, you let yourself fall into the illusion of normalcy, even as the weight of your secret presses heavily against your chest.
The air between you and Tony shifts subtly at firstâso small, so gradual, that neither of you comments on it. Nights that once burned hot now fizzle out before they even begin. The once-electric tension, the playful banter that led to tangled sheets and breathless laughter, is replaced by something colder. Itâs you who pulls away first. At first, itâs subtleâan excuse here, a brush-off there. âIâm not in the mood tonight,â you say, avoiding his eyes as you sit on the edge of the bed, a little too far from him.
Tony lets it go. He always does.
Heâs not the type to push, and you know heâs trying to respect your space. But as the days stretch into weeks, your distance becomes harder to ignore. Every time he reaches for you, his touch hesitant but hopeful, you step just a little further out of his reach. Itâs not that you donât want himâgod, you want him more than ever. But every time heâs close, every time his lips brush against your skin or his voice drops into that low, teasing tone that always used to make you weak, you feel the weight of your secret pressing down on you like a stone.
You donât know how to face him, how to look him in the eye without feeling like a liar. So you pull away.
Tony notices. Of course he notices.
At first, he thinks itâs stress. Youâve been juggling missions, the chaos of your lives, the constant push and pull of being in the public eye while trying to keep your relationshipâwhatever it isâa secret. Stress makes sense. Itâs logical, explainable. But as time goes on, and your coldness toward him hardens into something sharper, something unrelenting, the doubts creep in.
Itâs late one night, and Tonyâs lying in bed alone, staring up at the ceiling as the soft glow of the arc reactor casts faint, shifting patterns on the walls. Youâre not there. Youâd excused yourself earlier, claiming you were tired, but instead of lying down beside him like you used to, youâd retreated to the living room.
He wants to follow you, to ask whatâs wrong, to tell you he misses you even though he knows itâs not the kind of thing you say to someone whoâs supposed to be a casual fling. But he doesnât. He stays in bed, his chest tight, his mind spinning with every possible explanation for your sudden distance.
Maybe youâre over him. The thought sends a sharp pang through his chest, but he doesnât let himself dwell on it. People lose interest all the time. Itâs normal. Expected.
But then thereâs another thought, one that he tries to push down but canât quite ignore: Maybe thereâs someone else.
He hates the idea of it. Hates the way his stomach twists every time it crosses his mind. But the way youâve been avoiding him, the way youâve stopped laughing at his jokes, stopped touching him, stopped letting him touch youâit all feels like proof that heâs losing you.
The thing is, Tony Stark isnât good at feelings. Heâs spent his whole life hiding behind sarcasm, distractions, and whatever shiny piece of tech he can throw together to keep people from seeing the cracks beneath the surface. But you? Youâve always been different. Youâre the one person who makes him feel like he doesnât have to pretend, like he doesnât have to be âIron Manâ all the time.
And that scares him. Because if he loses you, he doesnât know how to go back to the person he was before.
He tries to bridge the gap one night. Itâs been weeks since you let him touch you the way he used to, weeks since the warmth of your body pressed against his in the dark. So he decides to take a chance.
âY/N,â he says softly, his voice tentative as he steps into the living room where youâre curled up on the couch, your knees drawn to your chest.
You glance up at him, your expression guarded, and his chest tightens.
âHey,â he continues, trying to keep his tone light, casual, like heâs not unraveling inside. âI was thinking we couldââ He hesitates, the words catching in his throat. âYou know. Watch a movie or something.â
You smile faintly, but it doesnât reach your eyes. âIâm not really in the mood, Tony.â
Itâs the same excuse youâve been giving him for weeks now, and it stings just as much as it did the first time. He nods, stepping back like heâs been burned.
âRight,â he says, his voice clipped. âOf course. Youâre⌠busy.â
You feel the weight of his disappointment, and it makes your stomach twist with guilt. You want to reach out, to tell him the truth, but the words wonât come. Youâre too scaredâscared of what heâll say, scared of what he wonât say.
Tony doesnât press the issue. He never does. Instead, he retreats back to the bedroom, closing the door softly behind him. But you know him well enough to know heâs hurting. Youâve seen the way his smile doesnât quite reach his eyes anymore, the way he avoids looking at you when he thinks youâre not paying attention.
You hate it. You hate yourself for causing it.
But every time you think about telling him the truth, about letting him into the tangled mess of emotions youâre drowning in, the memory of his relief when he thought everything was fine stops you. You canât bear the thought of seeing that same relief again, of watching him pull away from you because thisâwhatever this isâwas never supposed to be more than just sex.
The problem is, itâs so much more for you. It always has been. And the thought of him not feeling the same way, of him walking away when he finds out about the baby, is enough to keep you silent.
So you stay distant, building walls around yourself even as your heart breaks every time you see him. And Tony, for all his brilliance, doesnât know how to break through them.
Itâs late when Tony finally breaks. The night air is cool, flowing in through the windows of the lab as he works, tinkering with something that doesnât need fixing but still allows him to focus on something other than the gnawing feeling thatâs been growing in his gut for the past few weeks.
He canât ignore it any longer.
Youâve been so distant, so closed off. Every time he reaches for you, you pull away, your smile strained, your touch hesitant. He knows somethingâs wrong. Youâve been avoiding himâmore than usualâand itâs like the light that once sparked in your eyes when you were around him has dimmed. Youâre still there, physically, but emotionally? Mentally? Heâs losing you, and he doesnât know why.
At first, he thought it was just stress. Youâve both been running at full speed with everything going on in your livesâmissions, the Avengers, the constant media circus that surrounds everything you do. But as the weeks have stretched on, and youâve pulled further into yourself, Tonyâs mind starts to wonder. He tries to brush it off, tries to tell himself that maybe youâre just going through something, or maybe youâve just gotten tired of the arrangement you two have been navigating.
But that would mean heâs losing you, and the thought of that makes his chest ache.
Heâs pacing now, a strange sense of urgency growing inside him. He canât keep pretending everythingâs fine. He canât pretend he hasnât noticed the way you flinch when he touches you, how you go out of your way to make excuses not to be close, to keep that emotional distance between you. It hurts. It cuts deeper than any physical wound heâs had, and if he doesnât get to the bottom of it, he feels like he might lose himself entirely.
Without thinking, Tony heads toward the living room, his footsteps heavy as he approaches the place youâve been hiding out in for the past hour. Heâs not sure what he expects when he opens the door, but he knows he needs answers.
When you look up at him from the couch, curled up with a book in your hands, he sees it againâthe sadness behind your eyes, the coldness in the way you hold yourself. Itâs been so long since youâve looked at him like that, and it hurts more than heâs willing to admit.
âY/N,â he starts, his voice more strained than he meant it to be, âWe need to talk.â
You blink at him, like you were expecting him to say something else, something easier to hear. But instead, you set the book down, letting out a long breath. âWhat about?â
Tony steps closer, his brow furrowed in frustration, eyes searching yours for any sign of the woman he once knew. âYouâre not fine. I know youâre not. And I canât keep pretending that everythingâs okay between us when itâs not.â
You open your mouth as if youâre about to say something, but the words die on your tongue. Youâre not ready to tell him, not yet, but Tonyâs insistent stare makes you feel like you donât have a choice.
âPlease, just tell me whatâs going on. Iââ He cuts himself off, not sure if heâs about to confess something he isnât ready for. âI hate this distance between us. I hate how youâve been avoiding me, and Iâm not going to let you shut me out. Not when I know somethingâs wrong. So please, just tell me.â
You stand slowly, turning away from him, eyes cast down to the floor as you try to steady your breathing. You know you canât keep this secret any longer. He deserves to know, but youâre terrified of his reaction. Terrified that heâll leave, or worse, that heâll shut you out just like youâve been doing to him.
âIââ you start, your voice cracking slightly as you turn back to face him, your words hanging in the air like a fragile glass balloon ready to pop. âTony, Iâm⌠Iâm pregnant.â
For a moment, the room feels impossibly still. The sound of your heart pounding in your chest is louder than anything else. Tonyâs face doesnât change immediately, and for a second, you wonder if heâs even heard you. Maybe he didnât catch it, didnât really understand what you just said.
But then his eyes meet yours, and you can see the shock flicker across his face, his mouth opening as if heâs about to speak but nothing comes out.
The silence between you both stretches, and you hate it. You hate the tension that fills the space where once there was laughter, banter, comfort. You take a deep breath, the weight of your confession settling on your shoulders like an anchor, and you brace yourself for his response.
âI know you donât want this,â you whisper, your voice barely audible. âI saw the way you reacted when I told you my period had come. You were relieved, and I know that means you donât want a kid. And Iââ
But Tony doesnât let you finish. Heâs already moved toward you, his expression softening, and before you even realize it, his hand is gently cupping your cheek, his thumb brushing away a tear you didnât know had fallen.
âY/N,â he interrupts, his voice quieter now, but his words are firm, like heâs trying to make you understand something important. âI wasnât relieved because I didnât want the baby. I was relieved because I remember you saying you didnât want kids right now.â He lets out a shaky laugh, almost embarrassed by the way his own words feel in his mouth. âI guess I got scared for a second, thinking this was all happening too fast, but it wasnât about not wanting a kid. It was about⌠us. About where we are in life. I wasnât sure if you were ready for this, for everything that comes with it.â
You stare at him, blinking as the shock of his words sinks in. For a moment, all you can do is stand there, trying to process what heâs saying. Heâs not angry. Heâs not freaking out. Heâsâheâs relieved? And then the smile that spreads across his face is one youâve never seen before. Itâs so full of hope, of joy, that it almost knocks the wind out of you.
âYouâre happy?â you whisper, your voice trembling despite your best efforts to sound steady.
Tonyâs grin widens, and his eyes are shining with something so genuine, so raw, that itâs impossible for you to look away. âYou have no idea,â he says, a soft laugh escaping his lips. âIâve wanted this. Iâve wanted to be a dad for a while now. Iâm happy, Y/N. Iâm so happy.â
The air between you both changes instantly. The heavy weight thatâs been pressing down on your chestâyour fear, your anxietyâlifts just a little. You feel like you can breathe again, the walls youâd built around yourself crumbling with every word he speaks.
You look up at him, your own smile breaking through the uncertainty, and before you can stop it, the words spill out. âI think Iâm happy too, Tony.â
Tonyâs expression softens, his eyes softening as he reaches for you, pulling you into an embrace so tight it almost feels like heâs never letting you go. You bury your face in his chest, your heart racing with a mix of emotionsârelief, happiness, fear, but most of all, love.
âYouâre not alone in this,â he murmurs, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. âWeâre doing this together. Okay?â
You nod against him, your arms wrapping around his waist as if you never want to let go. âOkay,â you whisper, a quiet laugh escaping you as the weight of the moment finally settles in. âTogether.â
And for the first time in what feels like forever, you let yourself believe it. You let yourself believe that no matter what comes next, you wonât be facing it alone.
Later that night, after the quiet joy of shared smiles and whispered promises had filled the room, the weight of the moment seemed to settle in more than ever. The excitement, the relief, the joy of the babyâall of that felt real now. But there was still one thing neither of you had addressed. The question that hung in the air just as heavily as it always had: What are we?
You werenât sure when it started. When the blurred lines between âfriends with benefitsâ and something more had begun to form, but you knew it was there now. It had always been there, from the moment his lips had first brushed against yours, from the first time youâd shared something deeper than just casual touch. The emotional attachment had crept in slowly, quietly, and for a long time, you had tried to ignore it.
But now, with a baby on the way and the delicate balance of your secret relationship on the verge of shifting, there was no denying it any longer.
Tony had been unusually quiet after the rush of emotions had faded, after you both had settled into your shared space on the couch, your legs tangled beneath a blanket. Youâd both exchanged small touches, playful nudges, and soft words of reassurance, but as the night wore on, the air between you thickened again, and you both knew what was coming.
Tony wasnât the type to shy away from hard conversations, especially not when it came to the things that mattered most to him. And now, with the future of your relationship hanging in the balance, he had to know: where do you two stand?
âY/N,â he starts, breaking the comfortable silence that had wrapped itself around the two of you, his voice low, hesitant. âWe need to talk about⌠us.â
You glance up at him, your heart picking up speed at the seriousness in his tone. Heâs not looking at you now, not like before, when his eyes had been filled with a bright, carefree joy. No, now his gaze is intense, studying you in a way that makes you feel exposed. Vulnerable.
âI know,â you reply softly, the words almost a whisper, your fingers absently tracing the edge of the blanket. Youâre nervous now, your chest tight, unsure of how to navigate this conversation. After everything thatâs happened, after the whirlwind of emotions surrounding the pregnancy, now comes the quiet storm that youâve been avoiding. The talk about what your relationship isâwhat it could be.
Tony shifts, his body language tense. âWeâve been doing this for a while nowâcasual, no strings, no commitment. But now⌠this changes everything.â He lets out a breath, rubbing his hands over his face as if trying to wipe away the uncertainty. âI canât help but wonder if weâve been fooling ourselves, pretending weâre just two people with a little arrangement. I need to know if you feel the same way I do.â
Your stomach flips at the sincerity in his voice. The seriousness of it all hits you in a way you werenât expecting. Youâve always been good at keeping things light, at pretending that this thing between you both was just about fun, just about the thrill of being together without the complications of a real relationship. But now, with the baby coming, everything has changed.
Tony continues, his eyes searching yours. âI donât know about you, but⌠Iâm not just some guy you hook up with and then move on from. Thatâs not what I want anymore. I never thought Iâd say this, but IâI want more than that with you. I think Iâve wanted more for a long time, even before we got here, and now⌠with the baby, I donât know how to act like weâre just two friends. I canât.â
You swallow, the knot in your throat tightening, making it harder to speak. You want to say the right thing, but you donât even know what that is anymore. For so long, youâve kept the walls up, kept yourself detached from him, from the idea of ever needing more than just him in your bed, in your life.
But now, after everything thatâs happenedâthe broken condom, the shock of the pregnancy test, the tenderness of his touch, the way he looks at you nowâyou canât pretend anymore. You know what you feel. Youâve known for a while.
âIâm scared,â you admit, your voice trembling. You canât stop the truth from slipping out, and for the first time in a long while, you let yourself be honest with him. âIâve been so scared, Tony. I was scared to let myself feel more than just⌠this. I didnât want to be vulnerable. I didnât want to fall for you, but I did. And now, with this⌠I donât know what that means for us.â
He leans in, his hand coming to rest gently on your knee, grounding you with the warmth of his touch. âIt means we figure it out. Together.â
You meet his gaze then, really look at him, and for the first time since all of this started, you feel the fear melt away, replaced by something that feels like hope, like relief. Maybe itâs too soon to figure everything outâmaybe the fear will still be there tomorrow, when you wake up and face the reality of being parents together. But right now, in this moment, you realize that whatever comes next, youâre not alone.
âIâve never wanted anything more than this,â Tony murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. âI want us, Y/N. I want thisâwhatever it isâif itâs with you.â
Tears well in your eyes, the weight of his words sinking in. âAre you sure? Because, Tony, this is⌠a lot. Weâre talking about everything changing. Our whole livesââ
âI know,â he interrupts, cutting you off softly. âBut thatâs the thing, Y/N. Itâs supposed to change. Itâs supposed to be big. And itâs gonna be scary. But Iâd rather be scared with you than pretend weâre okay with something less.â
You smile, the tears now flowing freely down your cheeks, but theyâre not tears of fear anymore. Theyâre tears of relief, of joy. âI feel the same,â you say, your voice barely above a whisper. âI donât want anything else either. I want us.â
The air shifts around you both. The weight of everything thatâs been left unsaid, the uncertainty, the fear, all of it starts to dissipate in the wake of your words. In the silence that follows, thereâs a quiet understanding that passes between you, something unspoken but deep. Youâre not just two friends anymore. Youâre something more. Something real. Something that might still be terrifying, but youâre willing to take that step together.
Tony leans in, brushing a kiss against your forehead. âWeâre gonna figure this out, Y/N. Weâll do it together, okay? All of it. No more running from it. No more pretending.â
You nod, closing your eyes for a brief moment, savoring the peace of knowing that he feels the same way. For the first time, you donât feel the need to guard yourself, to hold back. Whatever happens next, you know youâll face it with him by your side.
And for the first time in months, you allow yourself to feel the hope that the future might not be so terrifying after all.
âTogether,â you whisper back, your voice full of resolve.
âTogether,â Tony agrees, his smile softening as he leans back into the couch beside you. You both sit there for a long moment, the world outside forgotten, the future uncertain but no longer so intimidating. With each other, you feel ready for whatever comes next.
The decision to tell the Avengers comes surprisingly easy, though Tony initially overcomplicates itâas is his style. He drafts no fewer than six different ways to break the news, each one more elaborate than the last, from a staged press conference to a spontaneous "Oops, did we drop a clue?" moment during dinner. Ultimately, itâs you who insists on something simple: just sitting everyone down and saying it outright.
The team gathers in the common area after a particularly grueling mission briefing. Steve sits on one side, arms crossed in casual curiosity, while Natasha and Clint exchange knowing looks, as if theyâve already pieced together whatever youâre about to say. Thor leans back with an air of amused disinterest, and Bruce glances between you and Tony with a subtle frown, clearly trying to deduce whatâs happening.
Tony clears his throat, standing with his hands shoved into his pocketsâa nervous habit youâve grown to recognize. You sit beside him, trying not to laugh at the way he fidgets like a kid preparing to confess heâs broken something.
âSo,â Tony begins, his voice smooth but a little too loud, âweâve got some news. Something big, something life-altering. Not world-ending, donât worryâthough it is arguably more exciting than an alien invasion or a helicarrier falling out of the sky.â
âGet to the point,â Natasha cuts in, raising an eyebrow, though her smirk betrays her amusement.
Tony glances at you, and you take his hand, offering him a reassuring squeeze. You look at the group, your heart racing but a soft smile playing on your lips. âWeâre together,â you say simply, âand⌠weâre having a baby.â
The room falls silent for a beat, and then chaos ensues.
Clint immediately lets out a loud, theatrical âCalled it!â while Thor booms a congratulatory cheer, clapping Tony on the back so hard he almost topples forward. Natasha simply smirks, her sharp eyes flickering with something close to approval. Steve blinks once, then twice, before nodding with a small smile. âWell,â he says, âitâs about time.â
Bruce, for his part, is the most measured. âCongratulations,â he says warmly, his expression soft as he looks between the two of you. âThatâs⌠big news. Youâll both be great parents.â
Tony, who thrives on reactions, looks around at the mix of responses, a crooked grin spreading across his face. âWait, thatâs it? No oneâs shocked? No dramatic gasps? No âTony Stark, settling down, what has the world come to?ââ
Natasha tilts her head. âWeâre not blind, Tony.â
âAnd youâre not exactly subtle,â Clint adds with a laugh. âThe sneaking around was cute at first, but come on. The looks? The way you guys act around each other? It was only a matter of time.â
You laugh, leaning into Tonyâs side as he rolls his eyes but doesnât deny it. He doesnât care if they saw it comingâhe only cares that youâre here, by his side, sharing this moment with him.
As the weeks pass and your belly starts to grow, Tonyâs excitement becomes something of a full-time personality trait. Heâs protective in a way that sometimes makes you laugh and sometimes makes you roll your eyesâlike when he insists on scanning the ingredients of every snack you eat or hovering too closely while you climb the stairs.
âTony, Iâm pregnant, not fragile,â you remind him one evening when heâs fussing over your attempt to carry a laundry basket up from the bedroom.
âYeah, well, youâre carrying my kid,â he retorts, taking the basket from your hands with a flourish. âAnd Iâm not taking any chances.â
But itâs not just the protectiveness. Thereâs something else, something deeper. Every day, he seems more in loveânot just with you, but with the idea of the life youâre building together. He tells you often how beautiful you are, how the so-called âpregnancy glowâ makes you shine brighter than any reactor core heâs ever built. And when heâs not busy marveling at you, heâs completely, utterly enchanted by the baby growing inside you.
Tony spends hours talking to your belly, as if the baby can already hear and understand him. He lays his head against your stomach whenever he can, his voice soft and full of wonder as he murmurs stories about the world, about your life together, about the adventures waiting for the little one.
âYou know,â he says one evening, his hand resting gently on your belly as he leans in close, âyouâve got it pretty good in there, kid. Momâs amazing. Sheâs brilliant, and funny, and stubborn as hellâyouâll learn that soon enough. And me? Well, Iâm not so bad either. Weâre gonna be a great team, the three of us.â
You watch him, your heart swelling at the sight of the man who, not so long ago, had been the epitome of carefree, refusing to be tied down. Now, heâs the man who canât wait to be a dad, who looks at you like youâre his entire world.
âI think theyâll be lucky to have you,â you say softly, running your fingers through his hair as he continues to talk to your belly.
Tony looks up at you, his expression tender. âNah,â he replies, his voice teasing but warm. âTheyâll be lucky to have you. Iâm just along for the ride.â
You laugh, leaning down to kiss him, and he smiles against your lips, his hand never leaving your belly. Moments like this are becoming your new normalâquiet, intimate, filled with the kind of love that feels like itâs been there all along, waiting for the right time to bloom.
As the baby kicks for the first time a few weeks later, Tonyâs excitement is nothing short of infectious. He whoops loudly, startling you for a moment before his hand immediately presses against your stomach again, his grin wide and boyish.
âDid you feel that?â he exclaims, his eyes lighting up as he looks at you.
You nod, tears springing to your eyes as you smile. âYeah,â you whisper, your hand covering his. âI felt it.â
âThatâs my kid,â he says proudly, leaning down to kiss your belly. âAlready making an entrance.â
You canât help but laugh, your heart full to bursting. In moments like this, itâs hard to remember why you ever doubted thisâwhy you ever doubted him. Tony Stark, for all his flaws, is everything you never knew you needed. And now, as you prepare to welcome the biggest adventure of your lives together, you know one thing for sure: youâre in this together, every step of the way.

I agree with the people saying that both leads are horrible communicators and thus have their spoiled and cold relationship but, based on the first episode only, I put about 90% of the blame for that on Sa-eon. I obviously don't know the entire history between these two but what's clear so far is thatâ Sa-eon was supposed to marry Hee-joo's sister and maybe he liked her (or maybe not), Hee-joo used to admire Sa-eon (the intensity of the admiration being unknown for now), their families are in a typical political relationship where they scratch each-other's back, Sa-eon has developed some possessive feelings towards Hee-joo during their three year marriage which he is highly confused about and would rather punch his hand on the wall than admitting it and start treating her right. On the other hand, the three year marriage has Hee-joo feeling suffocated, depressed and unloved. I wouldn't have blamed Sa-eon for majority of it, if it had not been for that wedding scene and the term in the contractâ "she must not show her face in the public". No matter how much Hee-joo admired him, all that is enough for her to not even want to look at him. Yes, she is at fault for not expressing her feelings but it's not like he would get it even if she does *cue that scene at the party when she signed to him and boy didn't get anything except that maybe she cursed at him*. Hee-joo's situation reminds me a lyric from So Long, Londonâ "just how low did you think I'd go before I self-implode, before I have to go be free?"
To communicate is to sit on a seesaw and balance the weight so that both parties can have fun on it by having both the edges go up and down repeatedly. However, Sa-eon is sitting on one edge with his full weight and the seesaw isn't moving at all. It's only the first episode so my view will probably change with the revelation of more details.
Also, I do not mean I hate Sa-eon in anyway by saying that he is to be blamed for their bad relationship (this is not MDL so I don't need to clarify but just in case). In fact, his character is what I was hoping it to be lol. I'm loving both the main characters and am seated for them (especially Sa-eon) to catch up with their feelings and fall in a love spiral so much that they'd want to puke. I want the down-badism to be expressed and shoved down my throat.

jesus. yeah thank god for preaching the truth about arcane season two. i mean it had its moments - really, REALLY good moments, and by hell it looked AMAZING - but holy FUCK. what a terrible time to be a fan of ekko. or mel. or jinx. or vi. or viktor. or ambessa. or sevika. and probably more i'm missing (ISHA!!!).
i completely agree with everything about the zaun vs. piltover situation ... just not happening this season? first with shimmer - listen i am not the biggest fan of the chembarons lol they look nice but their characters are. Fine. but if you're going to hype them up in the second episode make them WORTH something, right? and then if you're going to hype up the new jinxers, make THAT worth something too!! would it have been so hard to have a bunch of zaunites fly into piltover following jinx? i mean, that's what everyone THOUGHT that scene would be? you had sevika LEAVE the council meeting. why don't you have jinx convincing her to help. and ekko's with jinx. why wasn't he reunited with the firelights? you're telling the fucking firelights would leave zaun? no but it's just them i guess. and sevika and other zaunites enter the fray at essentially the same time so you would have to change nothing but whaaaatever who gives a fuck.
SPEAKING. OF. EKKO. WHAT THE HELL? his FINAL scene in this show is him mourning jinx and being completely alone. we can have that scene, OBVIOUSLY (given that jinx dies - or fake-dies - which i have my own problems with) but... can bro get a seat on the council? please? can we have like a scene with him and sevika walking in and he nods at sevika or something. i know people were complaining about it being mostly pilties and just sevika at the council meeting but i LOVE that. genuinely. shows us that progress is going to be slow (wow crazy. arcane having realistic class issues in their show about class issues), but can it not be just sevika? and can ekko get some fucking credit for SAVING PILTOVER? sure sure sure it was jayce and viktor but WHO THREW. THE GODDAMN ZDRIVE. AT VIKTOR'S HEAD? EKKO. jesus sorry i'm just crazy upset about that.
i wish they also didn't just have the council in piltover? if we're being given an independent zaun (ARE WE BEING GIVEN AN INDEPENDENT ZAUN??????????????) can we maybe have meetings in zaun too? one of those cute little transitions behind sevika's head where they're meeting in piltover's council room and then we go to the meeting room in zaun? like fucking what? or maybe zaun isn't fucking independent what were we watching this show for. if you're going to keep zaun as part of piltover and leave that part open can you maybe elaborate more than sevika like... sitting down. im a bitch for subtext but at some point it's not subtext it's being lazy??
and meljay. not sure what else to say here tbh like i don't even love them and i thought they were handled so poorly. at least they had chemistry in season one? the fuck was their reunion in act 3? negative chemistry. jayce is imagining viktor. why does he have more chemistry with viktor. big jayvik fan btw im a big fucking jayvik fan but can it NOT come at the expense of an established ship? porque no los dos? like hello? does meljayvik mean nothing to the writers? if you're going to have shippers putting the JayVik Agenda (which admittedly i think is very real of them) into the show can you COMPROMISE ABOUT IT. like considering mel's lonely ass ending and ekko's lonely ass ending there might be a goddamn pattern here.
wow. speaking of lonely ass endings. JINX. MY GIRL???????? breaking down her "death": we have jinx, safe, on a ledge. and we have vi and warwick about to fucking die. vi is faced with two options: try and save warwick (bring back vander) or go to jinx. vi isn't AWARE that trying to save warwick is going to come at the expense at jinx, but WE do, and the WRITERS do. the option of saving warwick or going to jinx is the SAME FUCKING OPTION as the jinx vs. powder question at the end of season one. does vi try and bring back a dead man (one who is GONE, who represents jinx and vi's past coming back to haunt them) or does vi try and accept her trauma and forge a new future with jinx?
...she chooses vander. like ok. yes. that makes sense given the amount of time vi has had to process that vander is alive. and a wolf. and then dead. and then back. and still a wolf. and then fighting them. and then not fighting them. im not expecting her in that situation to take jinx's hand and move on. but if that's the case can the arcane writers then.. give her time to process? because this isn't GOOD. this isn't good for vi. this isn't good for jinx. also do you know what also isn't good for vi OH MY GOD CAITLIN. CAITLIN ISN'T WHY DID THEY HAVE SEX AFTER JINX WAS LIKE "SORRY SIS GOING TO KILL MYSELF" LIKE HELLO VI YOU HAVE OTHER PRIORITIES THIS IS JUST LIKE WHEN YOU LEFT EKKO ON THE BRIDGE WHAT. HELLO. WHAT. WHAT. WHAT.
"im the dirt under your nails" no vi caitlin is the blood under yours.
sorry ok this isn't all my problems with arcane season two but i just realized i've been ranting in your inbox for what's probably over 100 words so maybe i should stop now. sorry bro i may or may not make my own post now mb
NO PROB it's big feelings and opinions time here on eerna dot tumblr~ It's just a terrible time to be a fan of the show methinks. I don't think a single character emerged on the other side of this season by having been done right.
I hated the way the Zaunites refusing to help Piltover was treated like some kind of a dramatic "Well, I guess THEY aren't joining US" scene. Usually we get to see both sides so you don't feel like either side is the main character, but that was such a horrible "You, the viewer, are a Piltie now, and the way Zaunites act will from now on be used as plot twists only" POV. Sevika showed up that way, Jinx and Ekko showed up that way - not as main characters, but as supports to Vi and Cait and Mel and Jayce, the Good Pilties.
"im the dirt under your nails" no vi caitlin is the blood under yours. is such a badass quote, bro!!! I have nothing to add, you've said it all, thanks for sharing~

My opinion about Arcane s2 (mostly Viktor)
I'm trying to be neutral on this, but I'm upset with what they did to Viktor.
I was wrong about their relationship with Sky (but I had hope), you can see he never really cared for her and the animators put their all into conveying that. Plus, let's say Sky represents Viktor's humanity and Viktor himself gives up on her. And it's a lot easier for him to give her up than it is for Jayce, who he's trying to show this new âworldâ to.
They have a lot of gay moments with Jayce, I don't know why the writers call it âfamilyâ. It's really hard to see family in that. It seems like at some point they decided to change the plot, because at the end Jayce and Viktor just disappear and no one just doesn't care what Jayce has with Mel.
The thing I didn't like the most was how they changed Ryze, that now Ryze is Viktor, the all-powerful mage. We know from the documentary that it was Ryze at one point. That would make more sense than Viktor traveling through time and constantly dooming himself to a series of miseries. But then again, they added the âall for Jayceâ aspect to it.
You can see it's supposed to be a different character, right?
I really didn't like how they treated Sky because obviously she wasn't an evil manipulative core. Viktor killed her twice for his own purposes. Once by accident, the second time on purpose. Look, you add a girl who is IN LOVE with a man, make her die twice for him, and show WHY he doesn't care. It's a dirty act. Amanda said she was âproud to write Skyâ, I don't know what there is to be proud of. As a woman, it was painful for me to watch. You didn't have to do that. Did you mean to say the character is gay? You don't have to humiliate women to do that.
I always hoped Viktor wouldn't have any romantic innuendos because feelings, for Herald, are a weakness. But the fact that they're indulging JayVik fans makes it look NOTHING like that. Like, I'm not a fan of this ship, but even I don't consider what they showed as brotherly feelings. Especially from Viktor's side. He is literally too concerned with Jayce's opinion.
I also think that the writers largely emphasized the clips and fights, but didn't add to the story itself. I mean Silco's deep thoughts in the first season on political topics and the theme of family in general was shown much better.
Herald is essentially non-existent. It's a character for the last two episodes who is immediately killed off because of a few words from Jayce. Viktor returns and they vaporize somewhere. I take it this is starting a recurring time loop.
They kind of tried to put in Viktor's âhere he's come to the realization on his own that humanity is badâ, but they did it SO FAST and literally because of one event that it looked bad. Yeah, it's not about hexcore. VIKTOR SUPPOSEDLY CAME TO THIS ON HIS OWN. Why? Because Jayce shot him, and then Jayce helped him realize otherwise. No, really, what was that?
I also didn't like the redesign. I was hoping the mask would look different, but it looks HORRIBLE.
It's supposed to give the impression that Viktor âshut down and withdrew into himselfâ, they also tried to make him a âdeityâ, but since it only lasted 20 minutes before he went back to his normal state, it didn't make any sense⌠Anyway⌠I sympathize with everyone who loved Viktor specifically, outside jayvik ship (happy for you guys). I know they are excited, but this is not Viktor's story. You see, Viktor doesn't have his own personal story now, he's too connected to Jayce. You could say he did everything and nothing at the same time. Because he keeps running this time loop, but he's running it because of Jayce's influence.
Waiting for his updated lore to readâŚ.. idk I'll read it and forget it like a bad dream.
