honestly the main reason i use ‘theta’ and ‘koschei’ in fic is because i find it really hard to imagine the doctor addressing the master with ‘master’ and take it at all seriously
#both them and me#cant take it seriously#in public when theyre doing a little show sure#they'll play along#but in PRIVATE??#are you serious?#it's a ridiculous name#you cant have a genuine conversation calling them 'master'#'doctor' alright#theres a lot of baggage there but that kinda like works for you#lots of meanings that are there when the master calls the doctor 'doctor'#a lot of fun stuff to mine#but the other way around i just cant see it happening sorry#like ironically sure as an insult or a slight sure sexually sURE but genuinely?? no#if there were other options i'd use those other options but theres not often a lot of them#same way theres not really a lot of things for yaz to call the doctor#theres not really any terms of endearment or nicknames or anything#and sometimes you just need that beat at the end of the sentence idk

insatiable
words: 1.1k
warnings: 18+ only, smut, lots of female receiving oral, excessive use of italics idk i was feeling it
rafe has been incessant all day, insatiable. you honestly have no clue what has gotten into him. he woke you up with his head between your legs, tongue licking sloppily at you, and he didn’t let up until he’d wrung two orgasms from your body. he didn’t even care about his own, getting up to get you a quick shower and then breakfast instead, not even mentioning getting himself off.
it’s unlike rafe. you know he likes to eat you out, but it’s always in the lead up to sex. you shrugged the morning off, until it was only a few hours later that he was peeling your shorts off as you sat on the couch, making the most of your saturday by watching a film.
you thought okay, for sure this time, but again, rafe licked and sucked you to orgasm, then got back on the couch to cuddle. it wasn’t like he was unaffected, you could certainly feel it behind you as you snuggled into his warmth, but he made to move to further advance.
you start to wonder if something is wrong when after you eat lunch, rafe sets you on the table and spreads your legs, feasting on you right there. when you let out another scream, another press of your thighs together, signaling your orgasm, rafe pulls up, satisfied smirk on his face. you pull him into a strong kiss, tasting yourself on his lips, but then he pulls away, giving you a quick kiss on the forehead before clearing the dishes.
you decide maybe going out would break this cycle, so you insist on heading out to shop. you make it through one store, a couple shopping bags in hand, but when you go to load them into the back seat, rafe pushes you to get in too, taking advantage of the tinted windows as he lays you down, spreading your legs for him as he eats you out again. this time he at least uses his fingers as well, giving your a hole a little relief as it craves his cock.
you don’t want to complain. it’s not like it’s a problem, but your clit is starting to get sensitive and it’s not even dinner time yet. you’re not exactly traditionalists, but you usually have sex after dinner, in your own bed. rafe is adventurous, willing to take you anywhere, but it’s just by nature that’s when you have the most time.
you finally call out rafe when he tries to eat you out again after you bring in the shopping bags. he dumps them in the entryway, pushing you against the wall and sinking to his knees. what has gotten into you you say with a laugh. you like giving rafe head, but even on the best days it’s only maybe three times, and your clit genuinely is starting to get sore. like rafe knows it, he ignores the question, and gives your clit the softest licks, building you up slowly until he has to use his hands to support your weight, unable to stand on your own. he finishes you off, careful to pick you up and carry you upstairs to your master bedroom. he cuddles and kisses you as the bath fills with warm water, before depositing you inside.
seriously you hum, running your wet hand through rafes hair, unable to resist the soft strands, even as he sits on the stool outside the bath, what has gotten into you. rafes head drops, but you can see the soft smile on his face, a plastered one, one that means hes about to tell you a lie. i cant just treat my girl?
you give him a stern look. rafe sighs, unable to make eye contact, looking everywhere but you. i heard you talking the other day. your mind runs through your recent conversations. to your friend about how head can just be head and doesn’t have to lead to sex. i never do that for you. you give me just a blowjob all the time. so i’m trying to make up for it even though my dick fucking hurts every time i see your pretty pussy and don’t get to fuck it.
you can’t help but laugh at rafe. he sounds so dejected and sad, talking about missing your pussy. rafey. you coo, running your hand over his thigh from your lower spot in the bath. i don’t mind. i would tell you if i minded. that was about my friend specifically because her man never satisfies her properly. that’s not us.
can you… can you get out of the fucking bath so i can fuck you now? rafe asks, and you nod. he helps you stand, doing a shoddy job of drying you off with the fluffy towel, before taking you into the bedroom, depositing your naked body on the bed. rafe strips, and his cock is painfully hard, standing at attention, tip angry and red. despite the precum glistening on his tip, rafe still slots himself between your legs.
this head is the best yet, knowing for sure it’s going to lead to rafe fucking you. he licks, sucks, slurps, right up until you’re going to cum, and then he pulls away, quicky moving up the bed to easily slide his cock into you. your orgasm rushes through your body, before rafe can even pull back out to start thrusting, just the feel of him alone sends you over the edge.
rafes ego inflates a little at this, keeping his cock deep inside as your body works through it. you give him the nod to move, and rafe starts to thrust hard. he’s merciless, using your body to get himself off. he knows you struggle to cum without clit stimulation, but for the first time all day he completely ignores it, hands tight on your hips as he thrusts over and over and over.
your eyes roll back in your head when you feel rafes cock swell. you know that he’s not lasting much longer. you don’t even care about your own orgasm, you’ve had enough for one day, you just want to help rafe to his, to feel his cum inside of you. you clench your pussy around him, and that seems to does it, rafe burying himself deep inside of you as his cum spurts inside of you, painting your walls. he pulls out and collapses next to you, letting out a breath that sounds like relief. you roll onto your side so you can look at him, smiling at his satisfied face as you rub a hand up and down his wide back. rafe leans to give you a kiss, letting your lips glide over each other. he pulls away with a smirk, slinking down your body. oh god. again.

Headcanons on what the creeps would be like in a bl^nt rotation [includes jane the killer, clockwork, jeff the killer, ben drowned, and ticci toby]
—————————————————
a/n: these are my headcanons on what the creeps [jane, jeff, natalie, toby, ben] are like during a blunt rotation with eachother. if you havent already, i really recommend reading my headcanons on what the creeps are like high on their own time here just to understand this post a bit better. enjoy c:
✮ in this rotation we have: ben, jeff, toby, jane, and natalie aka clockwork
✮ lets set the scene: usually everyone’s go to smoke sesh spot is ben’s room because it’s just the vibiest and he’s always got the good stuff on him. his room will have his led light’s on and they WILL be on green. it’s a must to be on green. all his other lights like his lava lamp will also be on. and he’ll always have some quiet lofi on in the back to give the room a relaxing feel. [ben can be a jerk sometimes but one thing he will do is make sure everyone is comfortable enough to start smoking. we don’t want any panic attacks]
✮ unfortunately for nina, she is never invited to the sesh anymore because she tends to be highly annoying
✮ mainly the conversations between everyone starts off easy going, usually just talking about what slender did to piss them off this time or whatever crazy/strange thing they witnessed today.
✮ ben is definitely the one that’s got everyone laughing, like i said in another post he’s the absolute funniest when he’s high off his ass. it gets even better when toby starts joking along with him, i mean these guys are masters at bouncing jokes off each other.
✮ jeff will talk about his most recent murders while insensitively making jokes about them while jane rolls her eyes
✮ both jane and natalie at some point will playfully start picking on jeff to which he will playfully pick on them back
✮ this usually starts by jeff saying something stupid or saying something that just didn’t really make sense and natalie and jane will point it out every single time and make fun of him for it
✮ another thing is that when jeff tells a story he uses sound effects and it’s the funniest thing to natalie and jane, they’ll definitely make fun of the sounds and mock him
✮ examplé, jeff was once describing how he timed himself to see how fast he can kill someone [he’s lame like that, i wasn’t kidding when i said he was insensitive to his victims/murders] at one point he described the sound of his knife as “chchchch” to which natalie and jane simultaneously mocked the sound and laughed for a good 10 minutes about it
✮ both jeff and natalie will argue over his hypothetical questions about who is right or why their idea would never work
✮ both jeff and natalie really enjoy discussing on what they would do if a zombie apocalypse were to actually happen
✮ toby and ben eventually chime in to their conversation but they never take the conversation seriously
✮ so we have jeff and natalie arguing like the situation is genuinely happening at that very moment while ben and toby are cracking jokes about what they would do and making fun of jeff and natalie while pointing out the holes in their plans while jane just laughs along and listens
✮ eventually at some point ben and toby will decide they wanna go out and do something which usually involves a gas station run and just running around the nearby town acting like children
✮ jeff, jane, and natalie tag along but they’re falling behind caught up in talking about some random drama that natalie definitely brought up on accident [that girl cant keep a secret]
✮ sometimes if they smoked alot, ben and toby will come up with the dumbest ideas
✮ once, they both went out during the winter in like 40 degree weather and jumped off a bridge literally just for fun
✮ and they’ve done way more dumber things than that
✮ like this one time they both convinced the whole group to sneak into a house party where the cops ended up getting called and toby being the funny guy he thinks he is shouted out something along the lines “aww who invited these guys”. obviously that got the attention of the officers who noticed they were all high. basically that night consisted of a party and running away from cops chasing them.
✮ jane and natalie are basically a duo in the group
✮ eventually they’ll start talking to just each other and it’s usually about more drama natalie can’t keep to herself or they’re talking shit about nina or making fun of jeff
✮ they will definitely start sharing tmi details about their life with each other [as besties do]
✮ after a few hours most of them will get tired
✮ usually toby and natalie get tired around the same time and jane will end up going to her room since nat’s not there anymore
✮ so it’s just jeff and ben left
✮ thats when it starts to get deep
✮ i headcanon jeff and ben to be close friends so once it’s just them left thats when they feel comfortable enough to start getting into heavier topics
✮ i mean this is the one and only time jeff will ever show emotions and disclose information about him actually… like… caring?… about people. which is the strangest thing to hear coming from jeff considering how he puts on a cold and distant persona around people
✮ like he has opened up to ben about how grateful he feels to have him in his life and even toby and natalie too. he has opened up about how he really does enjoy being able to talk about his dumb theories with natalie and to actually know that she is truly listening knowing that she’s also into that stuff
✮ after knowing jeff for as long as he has it’s not strange hearing this from him but in the past he was SHOCKED i tell you. shocked. because it was just so unlike him
✮ but even after years of being jeff’s best friend it still shocked him to hear jeff admit to how he felt bad for what he did to jane even though she really does get on his nerves.
✮ but yea these guys will spill their guts when it’s just them
————————————————————————
a/n: that’s all i got. if you have any more ideas or suggestions dm me and i will consider adding them all to a part 2! if you want to see any other headcanons topics you can dm me those requests too because MY REQUESTS ARE OPENN!!!! also check out my jeff the killer hcs <3

Cool stuff about the twins! :D can you do the same with Johnny boy?
Ooooo absolutely! (And if anyone wants to request Jai’s reaction to the amount of smut his sister reads, I’ll happily write it 😂😂😂)
While he admires his father, he chafes at people only looking at him as “Superman’s Son” or “Clark’s boy”. He has tiny acts of rebellion—his hair is usually messier than his father’s, he doesn’t shave that often, he prefers fiction/nonfiction writing to journalism, etc. Again, he loves his father, he just doesn’t want to be his clone.
The Omega Boys play DND every Wednesday night, as a way to relax and hang out. One campaign, Jon played a Hick Elf, complete with a thick accent. He proceeded to flirt with Mar’i in the accent and made her blush.
Also helped Milagro in her “Noir” shoot
Not shown, Mar’i shamelessly checking out his butt
He genuinely forgets he doesn’t need glasses sometimes. Milagro, who I headcannon wears contacts but none of them knew, had to wear her spare glasses. They look almost identical to Jon’s. They’d set them near each other after a training session. Milagro put Jon’s on and immediately walked into a wall. Jon put hers on and got an instant migraine.
He absolutely adores his nephews and nieces. He’s Uncle Jojo and spoils them rotten
I think he finds comfort in cooking and baking. Like Omega usually rotates responsibilities, but Jon volunteers to do most of it anyway.
All the omega boys have a “non-sexual slutty” moment the girls can’t stop thinking about. For Jon, it’s him in the middle of kneading bread, glasses sliding down his nose, shirt sleeves rolled up his forearms, singing alone to the radio. I will not be taking questions or complaints at this time.
Jon truly loves his brothers. Like are they annoying as hell? Yes. Does he want to punch them half the time? Absolutely. Would he kill anyone who hurt them? Without question.
While he’s definitely the most powerful on the team, I do think he would rely on that power to help in a fight. This is in comparison to Mar’i, who was raised around several martial art masters.
Literally started calling Mar’i his wife when they were like 17. They’d been dating about three years and she thinks it’s absolutely, ridiculously adorable.
Realized he was bisexual because of Matty West, his first “guy kiss” being Jack (since Jack has kissed Mar’i for dances). He thought he had it handled okay. Then made the mistake of telling Lian, when their families were over, that there’s no question she could ask in front of his parents he wouldn’t answer or they wouldn’t have figured out. Lian’s response? “You cant date Mar’i anymore. Who on this team are you dating instead and why?” Boy froze in pure bi panic
Anytime an animal is staying in omega tower, they’re given the best food.
He enjoys working on his grandparents farm, helping Pa as he ages, but he wouldn’t want to have a huge farm himself.
You know the trope of “girlfriend’s father HATES her boyfriend”? Yeah, Dick refers to Jon as “My Future Son-in-law” to everyone. Like Dickie knows they’re end game lol
Jon and Kathy Brandon love to tease each other about being little kids, running around the farms, pushing each other into the mud. Jon also helps to do chores around her and Maya’s house. When it’s firewood time, Mar’i and Maya pull up chairs to watch them work. Shamelessly I should add
Very very very much soft dom energy. Like he’s usually good with listening or letting people assume, but there’s a side of him that comes out that MAKES people listen
He and Colin always find away to tease Damian about how whipped he is for Irey.
Damian: hey, be safe
Irey: I will *speeds off*
Jon: *dramatic whisper* be safe
Colin: *fake swoon* I’ll be so safe
Disrespect him, he’ll shrug it off. Disrespect his teammates or friends? Y’all are gonna have a “conversation”. Disrespect his family? No words, on sight. Disrespect his WIFE? He will actually kill you.
I don’t know how or why, but at some point, Comics Jon and his boyfriend, Jay Nakamura, appear in omega tower. Jay and Mar’i? Instant best friends determined to sass their boyfriends
He’s the kinda guy who will get you a drink and just sit with you when shit goes down, until you’re ready to talk.

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 119
You Can’t Handle the Truth/The End of Time Part 1
“You Can’t Handle the Truth”
Plot Description: Sam and Dean investigate a series of suicides and discover someone is invoking the Goddess of Truth, forcing people to be cruelly honest
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: why is there a fully loaded gun just in a locked drawer at this restaurant but like where any employee could just get it? Honestly? I’d just move. I wouldn’t blow my brains out
How did Bobby not notice there was something off about Sam for a YEAR?? Of course Dean sees it from the get go but damn
Good LORD. The writers were like “what’s the most hurtful shit someone could say to another person” and then put it in as the dialogue for this episode
Yeah, see. If someone confessed to assaulting my teenage daughter, and I had access to dental tools, I’d be taking those matters into my own hands too
Calling it now: we’re gonna get a scene in the last 10 minutes of the Goddess of Truth getting Dean to say that he doesn’t trust Sam and/or Sam to say he did just sit back and watch Dean get turned by the vampire
The dentist had not one but two pictures of Kenny G hanging in his office??
So there’s a Goddess of Truth who has Gabriel’s Horn of Truth…cool
Cas!!!
I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to be the Winchesters dealing with all these angels and demons. They disappear in the middle of conversations but will come back with relevant information for what you’re going through but it’s JUST enough time for you to have fully cursed them out
God…someone hug Dean
Does GONE gone mean cremated? Or….MISSING?????? They’re just missing???
No, Dean!!! (This lighting is very flattering on him though)
Is the news anchor the Goddess of Truth?? She’s been on the tv every time someone has said they want the truth, I’m pretty sure. Or…is that just some weird coincidence because this IS the cw
JESUS, BOBBY. “I never told anyone that. Why am I telling you? Probably because you’re my favorite, though Sam’s a better hunter. Lately, anyway”
Yeah. I knew we’d be getting a classic Winchester confrontation that could only happen through supernatural forces
Oh no. We’re gonna get a Lisa/Dean break up under this curse Dean has??? I feel bad for both of them.
Does…does it only work on people with SOULS? God. Now Dean’s gonna feel like shit for doubting him even though he’s right
Omg was I RIGHT??? It IS the news anchor?? That wasn’t just the cw not being able to afford other stock video in the background??? Look at meeeeee being so smart
We’re in the last 10 minutes now…I’m still holding out for that confrontation.
Ok but like she’s VERY pretty. I’m glad she got dressed for the occasion
See this?? This is what I mean. Supernatural forces making them spill their guts (metaphorically). Dude, Dean. I can’t tell you that punching Sam repeatedly in the face was wrong though.
“Been On My Mind…”: ohhhhh, the exact opposite. I think we’re at 5 now…I am BAD AT COUNTDOWNS
"The End of Time Part 1"
Plot Description: The Ood have given a warning to the Doctor. The Master is returning yet that is not the biggest threat. A Darkness is coming which brings with it The End of Time.
Am 👏 I 👏 ready 👏 for 👏 this?👏 NO.
Um. Where'd that lady who was just talking to Wilf go? I don't think she's related to Cas. She cant' just go disappearing like that after telling the story of why the TARDIS is in that church's stained glass
You're being very cavalier about all this, Doc.
WELL, after THAT, he's got his ass in gear. Literally everything the Ood said was terrifying.
Hmmmm, that's uncomfy. The lady who found the Master's ring is now freeing Lucy Saxon. Why's it take four humans to sacrifice themselves to bring back a timelord?
I love, GENUINELY love things just happening because we say and for the drama of it all. I love when you don't have to explain all the details of why there's a potion of life and one of death in science fiction. Sometimes, you just wanna enjoy stuff
Oh, I love Wilf rallying his old folks group to find the Doctor.
The bleach blond look is a good one for The Master
CAN THERE BE ONE DAY. JUST ONE. WHERE SOMETHING I WATCH DOESN'T REMIND ME OF HIM. (this is about the intermittently skeletal Master propelling himself super high in the air and then diving down at his victims while yelling for the Doctor) I would just like ONE. DAY.
No because why am I also getting Todobros fight, a little bit, from this Doctor and Master confrontation. The Doctor just wants to help because the Master is BURNING UP HIS OWN LIFE FORCE. I CAN'T DO THIS
Ma'am, that is sexual harassment.
Pain. Agony, even. "I'm going to die." "I will, too, one day" "Don't you dare" All while knowing one of if not the last thing Bernard Cribbins ever filmed was the 60th anniversary special WITH David. I am unwell.
Their discussion about Donna as she's getting in the car is equally heartwarming and heartbreaking. Every moment is Wilf not even that subtextually begging the Doctor to just DO. SOMETHING. so she can travel with him again all the while they both know he can't. And then doing it very plainly. They both want her back with him SO. MUCH. They made each other SO MUCH BETTER.
Positively WHINING at this scene between the Doctor and the Master. The Doctor wants to help him, and the Master WANTS to accept that help...but he can't. Because the Doctor can't. hear. the. drums. So how could he possibly help?
Oh my god. Hundreds of years of having to deal with that sound driving you mad, and finally FINALLY someone else hears it for barely a few seconds, but it's enough. It's enough to know that all the suffering you've been through has been real. It's something that's been done to you and not something you've done to yourself.
Oh, hey, it's the outfit I did for the only time I cosplayed at a con.
How'd she have a whole conversation with Wilf through the television. This isn't Blink. You don't have anyone transcribing half the conversation
Knowning what I now know about the industry, this must have been either a wonderful or HORRIBLE day on set for John Simm, having to shove that much turkey in his mouth for however many takes it took
OMG RIGHT. He turns EVERYONE into himself.
ba-RACK Obama? Really??
I love the stupid ways things happen on this show. The way everyone turns into the Master, their heads shake really really really fast for a minute
No no no no no no, Donna. Nooooo.
He's so cringe.

ꕤ 31. forget the flowers
tw: none / wc: 1.1k
from: t(hoe)ma —hey yn! sorry i cant make it :( —thankfully ayato volunteered my ticket wont be wasted and u wont watch alone lol
you knew their plan. you were there, planning alongside them without their knowing. you don't know how ayato got thoma to join in on his supposed master plan willingly, but you knew from the moment thoma messaged you about watching that new horror movie that he was going to bail last minute and have ayato go in his stead.
funny, really, that both thoma and ayato genuinely thought you liked watching horror movies when in fact, you hated them and were only listening to thoma talk, trying to segue out of the conversation lest he unintentionally gives you nightmares. with how animated the vice president was talking, he never did manage to notice the forced smile on your face as you listen to him talk about ax killers in the backseat of a car or a haunted porcelain doll with pigtails.
"yn," ayato calls.
when you turn your head to greet him with a smile, he forgets how to breathe. suddenly he's reminded that everything he's doing, fighting the mold his family wants to shape him into, was every inch worth it.
ayato brought you flowers, just as planned. a bouquet of white roses, and you pray to whoever is listening that he doesn't come any closer or your allergy will start acting up and what a could-be date to the cinema would end up becoming a date in the emergency room. yeah. totally not romantic. but you have to suck it up and pretend you like it because you yourself were the one who lied and said you loved white roses.
"oh," you stutter, slightly sniffling as your eyes got teary just by being in the vicinity of the damn roses. "thats… that's a nice bouquet haha."
"i was just about to meet my mom, you see. she asked me to get her some white roses for her office but when i got there, she said her secretary had already got some for her. i can't let it go to waste so… i guess, i'll just give it to you then." alas, he extends his arms and gives it to you with a proud smile on his face.
if only you weren't tearing up so hard due to the roses, maybe you'd have noticed how impeccable his acting is. if you hadn't known the real story, you'd have thought his excuse was a hundred percent real, from his facial expression to his mannerisms.
with the roses now directly by your face, the sniffles got more severe and no amount of sniffling stopped you from letting out the biggest sneeze you've ever had, making you drop the bouquet. sadly, neither you nor ayato reacted quickly enough to pick it up as a couple of kids playing tag ran between you and accidentally stepped on the dainty roses.
while you moved to pick it up, ayato couldn't care less about the flowers and had just noticed the paleness of your skin and teary eyes due to the allergic reaction. okay. maybe telling him the exact opposite of what you like was a bad idea.
"oh no, the flowers…"
"yn, forget the flowers. are you okay? you look…"
you cough, feeling your throat tighten as you fail to keep yourself upright, unable to breathe and getting lightheaded. ayato is quick to catch you in his arms, panic-stricken face inches from yours as a hand pushes your hair away from your face. "shit! are you–are you allergic to flowers? but… but that wasn't—"
you blacked out. the last thing you remember was your thoughts of damn it; he found out.
—
white fluorescent lights scorched your eyes when you opened them as the distinct smell of antiseptic flooded your nostrils. for once, you were breathing regularly again and didn't feel like your skin was itching. as you sit up and take in your surroundings, you realize you're in a hotel… or a hospital? wait a minute, are you…
"VIP room?" you mumble, looking at the mahogany furniture and the flat screen tv mounted just across the hospital bed you were lying on. and right next to you with the blinds drawn, you see the beautiful sea of lights making up the pretty cityscape.
"oh, you're awake. and yeah, you're in one of our hospital's VIP room."
ayato appears from around the corner where the living room was, pocketing his phone as he approaches the side of your bed with big strides, causing your heart rate to speed up, hands flying everywhere as you stutter with your words. "why… why a VIP room? i can barely afford emergency as it is! you could've… could've just sent me home or…"
your voice dies as he reaches forward to grab your outstretched hand, gently bringing it back down on your lap. flustered and utterly distracted by the softness of his hands, you try to pull it out of his grip until he—
"careful. don't move your hands so much, that's where they put the iv."
you blink in disbelief, head jerking to the side, and true to what he said there was an iv attached to the back of your hand. an iv drip? seriously? for a damned allergic reaction?! how much is this going to cost me?!
ayato must've seen your thoughts written clearly on your face as he quickly starts parroting what the doctor said to him. "that's what i thought, too, when dr. nomura said they'll attach an iv on you because you fainted. so they said it was a severe allergic reaction and the iv drip is the quickest way to flush out… allo-whatever-medical-term he said."
he laughs but you don't laugh with him, the heat in your face unable to make you stare straight at his eyes. ayato was still holding your hand.
"oh, sorry…"
he lets it go, and some part of you wish he didn't.
ayato clears his throat. "don't worry! dr. nomura said you'll be back to good condition after you empty the iv drip. and then we can go on our date—I MEAN, DAY! haha… i meant day…"
"right… yeah, i get it." you bite your lip hard and force your heart to calm down. abort mission! foul! FOUL! that was a direct attack! thank god there was no heart monitor attached to you or it would've all been for nothing.
"i heard there'll be a boat ride a little after sundown. they say there'll be fireworks, too. would you like to come with me? it's the least i can do, considering it's my fault for bringing the roses and we had to miss our movie."
you've never felt this guilty in your entire life. but because of that strong feeling of guilt, you suck it up, smile at ayato, and say yes despite having the worst case of motion sickness known to man.
LOWKEY » previous : masterlist : next
a kamisato ayato social media au
summary — it was only recently you found out kamisato ayaka was, in fact, not an only child after all! seeing ayato for the first time gave you the severest case of the butterflies but according to ayaka, he’s off limits, especially to you as her most treasured friend. well, what she doesn’t know won’t hurt, right?

Sub-Zero
Genre: Fluff, Romance, Modern AU
Warnings: A Smidge of Sexy Times, MDNI!
Inspiration: Blizzard - Evgeny Grinko
Just a self-indulgent head cannon of Kyojuro with an ice pillar friend. Thank you for reading!
Rengoku Kyojuro never questioned his colleagues’ talents. Never had the mind to, figuring they took up the position for a reason. Whether it was for battle prowess, cunning, brute strength, or speed, he never was so inclined to doubt anyone’s skill. So why, all of a sudden, was he baffled by yours?
• He wouldn’t have thought you were a pillar at first if not for the tiny, telltale snowflake emblazoned on the breast of your coat. Or the black fur adorning its collar and sleeves—only the higher ranks were given such liberties with the design of their uniforms.
• When Master Ubuyashiki introduced you as the tenth pillar—the Ice Hashira—Kyojuro couldn’t believe his eyes. Typically a man of many words, but for once, he was stumped after beholding you.
• Your aura was unconventional, though oddly relaxing and warm. Rivaled his homely presence. You were beautiful, like the sun nestling into the horizon, making way for glimmering stars and the gentle call of sleep.
• Though Kyojuro wore a rehearsed grin daily, he couldn’t help the genuine cant of his lips whilst you blinked sheepishly at your new peers. A beam worked its way onto your face, slow and steady like the drag of a tide.
• And then you opened your mouth. Kyojuro's stomach did somersaults.
• You drawled out a “hello," bowing so deeply that Kyojuro thought you would go barreling forward. The other pillars watched with varying degrees of interest—or as much as they could muster.
• You moved sluggishly; voice just as moderate but thoughtful—you once told Kyojuro it was because you stuttered as a child. It was to ensure you enunciated each syllable to not stir up old habits.
• After the meeting, Kyojuro approached you, all smiles and enthusiasm. Introduced himself properly, remarking how thrilling it was to have a new pillar. How eager he was to see you in action. And when he had moved to pat your shoulder, Kyojuro could swear that he saw steam gathering from where he had touched you—he shook it off as a hallucination. He hadn't gotten much sleep the night prior, after all.
• His heart swelled within his ribcage whenever he was around you. Kyojuro had a fierce inclination to protect you from any and everything; from everyone—he heard how the other pillars rebuked you for your lethargic demeanor. However, you had shown them all time and time again that you were more than capable of taking care of yourself.
• He was always mystified when he saw you in battle. Impressed by how you used your slothful nature to your advantage. You once lured a horde of demons into what they thought were easy pickings. Yet, you’d moved so swiftly, covered so much distance in an insurmountable amount of time that if Kyojuro blinked, he would’ve missed it. You had slain every demon in sight before your sword’s sheath even clattered to the ground. Wore a lazy grin as you flicked blood from your blade and padded to him.
• Kyojuro, at best, compared you to a Komodo dragon. Deceptively slow but agile and deadly. You snorted at his evaluation. Playfully chided that he was mean for comparing you to a lizard.
• Your friendship blossomed with the spring thereafter. Filled with enlightening conversations and comfortable silences. It solidified itself during the winter when he noticed something peculiar about you.
• Kyojuro often caught you sleeping in various places around headquarters—the garden, cafeteria, conference room. Even found you balled up on a bookshelf in the library. You often slumbered between missions and on your days off. It had grown to a point where you were fast asleep almost every time he saw you.
• He was worried. His newest companion. Always sleeping, more fatigued than usual. Were you sick?
• He frequented Kocho’s mansion before stopping by your home to check on you. Showed up with armfuls of various teas and potions to help rejuvenate you. None of them seemed to work, as his visits always ended with you leaning on his shoulder, snoring lightly.
• On one of the few instances you were awake, you finally confessed to Kyojuro that you were anemic. You explained to him that you had an iron deficiency. The root of your lethargy. And your breathing technique didn’t help matters one bit. You went into hibernation mode during the winter, as you had the most challenging time regulating your body temperature.
• That would explain why your hands and feet were always so frigid. Why exhaustion settled on your countenance, though you tried valiantly to keep up with Kyojuro’s energy.
• He instead opted to bring fuzzy blankets and soup to keep you warm, things to make you feel more at ease when you fell under a drowsy spell.
• Kyojuro started visiting you more often when you weren’t swept away by missions. Felt comfortable with the rhythm you both created—you eventually gave him the spare key to your house so that he could slink in and check up on you while you slept. Sometimes spooned you to lend you his warmth.
• Kyojuro believed that being with you like this felt so right. You smelled good. Earthy like petrichor with a hint of jasmine settling on your skin. You felt even better. Molded to him like a jigsaw piece. He couldn’t deny that he had wanted to hold you like this for months.
• And when the cuddling wasn’t enough, well…
• Kyojuro came up with more…creative ways to keep you warm. Often between labored breaths, his name on your lips, and you both swimming in the aftermath of your orgasms.

Genshin impact x reader
Episode: 3
Title: really innocent??
A/n: SORRY THIS TOOK A LONG TIME- I'm sorry for any mistake and also, please enjoy! possible love interest for now will be : Diluc, Kaeya, Albedo, Zhongli, Childe, Xiao, Beidou, Ningguang.
Jean and the purple dressed girl looks at each other it's as if they're talking about something but with no words being spoken.
"ah yes.. uhm- you will meet a certain knight.. please wait for a while".
the acting grand master that you now know names Jean is opening the door to the outside office alongside the purple dressed woman.
once Jean and Lisa was outside, they took a glance at you, making sure you didn't follow or eavesdrop on them.
“she.. passed our test..? is it enough to prove her innocence?”
Lisa shakes her head and goes into a thinking position. you did pass the test.. you genuinely doesn't seem to know this place even if you did.. damn you make a good actress.
“no.. we still need more proof-”
Lisa stopped midway her words when suddenly Aether comes in along side paimon.
“hello, cutie”.
Lisa suddenly change the subject and greets Aether, and starts discussing about the new.. unknown girl from nowhere. Aether crunch his eyebrow, another traveler? is she perhaps like.. me? Aether is exited to see you. you're from nowhere you have a possibility to know his twin sisters information.
you waited for about 2 or 3 minutes who knows, being left alone in the room is not really fun. your ears perked up when you heard a footsteps coming from outside. the door opened and it reveals a man with a flying thingy.. the mc and the companion. paimon.
“this is the hononary knight that we wanted you to meet”
The mc, that you know the name "Aether" is Infront of you, his eyes is glimmering with slight hope. A hope that you might know his sister..
Well you don't.
Not really, you haven't gone THAT far, all you've been doing is just leveling up and be stronger. Oh well. You silently said in your head. What can you do? You being here already ruin the whole story. You smile at the boy and wave your arm a little bit.
"Hello, nice to meet you".
Aether greets you and you greets him back with a wave and a 'hello'. Jean smile softly but worriedly at Aether.
"uhm.. Aether can you bring y/n around Mondstat? She.. is new here".
Jean has calculated everything, Lisa has cast a couple of spell to check you, Kaeya has met you and he doesn't seem to hate you or find anything suspicious from you. And with that in mind, jean no longer hesitate. She is sure that even if you did something weird as long as it's not threatening you'll be fine.
And so!!! Your adventure with Aether and paimon starts from today.
Stepping outside of the room is a huge relief- well not really, some of the guards are stating at you. You maybe new but you're not blind.. you can see or rather feel their eyes on you.
"so.. y/n right? Paimon was wondering.. how did you get here?".
Ah yes there you go the question that even you don't know.
"uhm.. honestly i Don't remember.. i told you that when i woke up i am in the hospital room with barbara.. and the rest is history. I also don't know how or why i am wearing the Mondstat dress".
Paimon looks at you weirdly and Aether is just staring at you, it seems like he wanna ask something so you flash a smile at him, reassuring him that it's okay to ask questions.
" are you a traveler like me?"
You of course, shake your head. Aether and you are different, he travels by his will and you travel not by your will.
"I'm not a traveler, i didn't go from one word to another.. but thankyou for asking".
Aether's eyes widen for a little. Maybe you're not as clueless ass you seem. Just by answering his question you already give away little bits of your secret. Aether is SURE you're hiding something.. what he's not sure about is are you a friend or a enemy. Aether took a glance at paimon, of course she just nods her head and went to talk random stuff to you.
Aether never mentioned about traveling one world to another.. yet you seems to know about that without him needing to explain.
Without realizing Aether stopped and thing, spacing out, causing you and paimon to look at him worriedly.
"are you okay?"
You asked the boy, he quickly looks at you and nods his head yes. You shrugs your shoulder thinking that maybe it's just hot and he wanted to rest.
Aether show's you around Mondstat. You meet alot of great and nice people like Glory and Ellin even Hertha. But one person catches your eye.
"so y/n this is Katheryne. Katheryne, this is y/n".
Your eyes widen. What is she doing here?! She's the one who gave you that disc that started all this- not that you're complaining but this is against your will-.
"uhm... Y/n?".
Paimon called your name. You snapped out of your imagination and looked at the worried Paimon, Aether and Katheryne.
"u-uhm... What did i miss.. hehe?"
You asked them. Aether pats your back and you sweatdrop, whoops.. luckily you don't think out loud... That would be.. ahem.. awkward.
"katheryne says hello to you".
Katheryne giggle and wave at you, you laugh awkwardly and greets her back.
"h-hi..."
Katheryne nods and proceed to talk with Aether and Paimon about the new quest that they're getting.
"are you perhaps going to show y/n around Mondstat?".
Aether nod and Paimon say yes, you are just going with the flow, nodding your head when you can so that they'll know, you're still paying attention.
"great! Some one from Liyue has a wine request for master Diluc. They said that it would be great if you can send their request in person to master Diluc".
Send their request in person??? Why would they need Aether to send their request in person..? That's interesting. Aether accept the quest anyway, it's not that big of a problem. Aether turns to look at you.
"well we are going to the bar next.. and maybe if you're lucky you can meet master Diluc on your first day here".
Lucky? Why would you be lucky, you follow them anyway to meet this master Diluc.
"hah.... Diluc~".
Wait- what who said- you look around and saw a girl with short hair thats bunch up into a low ponytail. The girl seems to notice you staring at her, she seems surprised and quickly covers her face.
"that is Donna. She knows alot about romance".
Paimon went beside you and whisper.
"she also has a crush on master Diluc".
That clicked and you goes 'O' you nod your head at Paimon, Aether looks at Paimon and face palm, which makes you giggle.
"ah! Hello mr Aether! Ouuuuu??? Hello miss pretty".
A little girl behind a row of flower greets Aether and you. Wait did she just call me pretty? Ah .. you don't wanna be too confident so you greets her to she what she say.
"hello there! my name is y/n, what’s yours?”
the girl smile sweetly at you as she started to introduce herself.
“my name is flora! nice to meet you miss pretty!”.
w-what miss pretty? your face turns into a shade of red, Paimon tease you about you being miss pretty, Aether’s face went a little red but he quickly just laughs and smile softly at the both of your antics.
“okay okay, it’s time to move on guys. let’s go to the bar”.
Aether pull you and Paimon away from each other, you guys said your goodbye to flora as you both part way. you're kind of exited to meet this Diluc guy.. what will he look like? is he nice? is he powerful? without you realizing it, you're finally in front of the bar. you opened the door and take a peak inside, while Aether just walks in.
“hello master Diluc, were so lucky meeting you here right now!”.
a handsome man with red hair and a very dark like clothes looks up at Paimon and Aether, sensing a new face he turn his gaze to you.
“and... i assume you're showing this lady around?”
wow... calling you lady... fancy. he also looks.. hot.. and fancy wait- come on y/n! stop going out of the main topic!
“whoa! how does master Diluc know that were showing y/n around?”.
Paimon asked, master Diluc fixes his gloves and looks at Paimon with little to no interest.
“words travels quickly, especially if its about a girl out of nowhere that so happen uses the Mondstat dress”
he now turn his gaze on you. you're not even surprised if he is suspicious by you, people are giving you a suspicious glances except for that nice flora girl. you stare at him back and sigh, you cant really complain can you? its not their fault anyway
“Right.. nice to meet you master Diluc”.
you bow your head a little at him. he nods back and turn his attention else where, seemingly uninterested. Diluc makes a conversation with Aether about something, Aether and Paimon seems.. a little hesitant, you keep looking around the bar anyway, youre not incluedid in the conversation then you should not intervine. Paimon and Aether goes towards you.
“so...uhm.. y/n.. we will be going first”
Paimon said, kind of awkwardly, you look at them, confused, why are they leaving you now? you thought that they're gonna show you around? what happen to that? A hand suddenly reach out to your shoulder, making you freeze up.
"I'll take care of you from now on"
And with that your fate has been decided, you'll be with Master Diluc for the rest of the day... Until who knows when.

Educating and Sharing Knowledge in Social Justice Circles and Beyond
Today I'm going to talk specifically about someone using Google vs asking a question of other people.
I am going to begin this by saying that emotional labor is an important thing and if someone asks you something/you see a question posted on social media and you don't have the bandwidth to answer, then don't. You have no obligation to explain anything. People in marginalized communities often get the brunt of these questions and can and should use the phrases "I don’t feel comfortable answering that,” "I cant have this conversation right now" or just straight up "No.”
That said.
Recently I saw a boomer woman post on facebook a question regarding a term specific to the trans community. She received three responses saying if she can post on Facebook, she can Google. She got defensive. It didn't end well.
Ok. So congrats, now shes never going to ask a question again.
I know what you’re saying (she’s too sensitivvvveeeeee, shes being fragilleeeee - well she’s also a human, with the human trait of wanting everyone to like us, of having rejection hardwired into her brain as a hard “nope,” and is likely dipping her toe into some unfamiliar waters. Am I condoning her fit? No. It was embarrassing. But I can see where she’s coming from, and I empathize - I have social anxiety, and if I were her, brand new to this, I wouldn’t have argued, no, but I would have just disengaged entirely, googled my questions like a good girl and then never speak up again - and likely would have missed out on genuine learning experiences and connections and threads to follow.)
I’ll tell you why I think the “Google Exists” approach is problematic.
1) Cultural differences regarding technology. I feel comfortable simply highlighting a term or phrase I don’t understand and running a Google search, but for many people, google is not muscle memory.
2) Depending on how much prior knowledge you have, resources may be more confusing than helpful. There is an entire reddit called "explain like I'm five" where people post questions and a knowledgeable human literally puts complicated questions into simple terms and context. Its an extremely popular subreddit you've likely heard of, meaning there is a HUGE demand for this kind of thing.
3) “You learn it better by looking it up and reading about it yourself!” Not everyone is neurotypical. For dyslexics, those who have little formal education, or people who struggle with the written word, I can assure you this is not the case. Also, if you’re that concerned, you can always just drop a link or rec a book instead of answering a question directly.
4) Someone stepped out of their comfort zone to admit they don’t understand something and want to learn??? And you belittled them????
5) ALLIES! this would have been your time to shine! Don’t leave the emotional labor to members of the community OP had a question about! In many cases, its likely OP doesn't even have any friends in those circles!! Think about the bubble that poster may live in!! Do your ally duty and answer the basic question, and also link to resources so they can pursue it further! Again: You don’t have to give a masters thesis just drop a link for fucks sake.
6) Some concepts are hard to put into words especially words that will generate a solid google result. If someones question is layered or abstract, they may have tried google already.
So. If you see a social media post/comment asking a “simple” question and it *still* annoys you that they had to ask? Well, you can have an opinion all you want but keep your damn mouth shut and MOVE THE FUCK ON. If you cant say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

My Jedi master Eeth Koth headcanons!
Eeth Koth has been my comfort charcter for quite a long time, and still is now (and I hope still will be in the future also, bc I cant imagine me existing without my love for Eeth anymore).
So, I've decided to share my most prominent master Koth headcanons that I've accumulated at this point
As promised, I'm posting only general ones, without any specific implied pairings or other relationships!
note: (due not so much info about Eeth in Canon and Legends (unforgivably little actually), maaaaybe I'm projecting some of my own mental stuff on him, but eh, this is unevitable I guess :)
Have fun reading these!
1. Change of the profile
In his youth, Eeth was a Jedi Guardian, a.k.a "Jedi-on-the-front-line", and carried a blue lightsaber. But after the death of his master, followed by him joining the High Council, Eeth calmed down his inner rambo and changed his profile to a Jedi Consular. And so he chose a path of a diplomat, built a green lightsaber (with a hilt very similar to his dead master's one, as a remembrance) and eventually became famous in the Jedi Order exactly for his ability to resolve conflicts peacefully. (that's why no big missions on his part before the Clone Wars era apart from his participation in the Yinchorri incident)
2. The acceptance issue
Eeth pays a lot of attention to his appearance: carefully brushes his hair, makes sure his clothing is perfect, and so on.
Some consider this a simple whim, but in fact this will to have an ideal appearance is a consequence of some issues Koth now has because of his difficult childhood. Due to the fact that Eeth spent his first four years as a ragged orphan in the filthy slums of Nar Shaddaa, he sometimes feels as if he doesn't deserve to be in such a clean and nice place as the Coruscant Jedi Temple. (And the fact that his membership in the Order at first caused a lot of controversy among the Council masters only worsened this fear)
That is why Eeth tries his best to always look as perfect as possible - to be suitable for the beauty of the Temple and to not feel himself a stranger in its walls.
3. Long meditation hours and self-reflecting
He does meditate on his issues quite often, in order to get rid of every irrational fear he has, like the one described in the previous headcanon. Usually he does that in the evening, after all the tasks are completed - he gives himself time to reflect on what happened during the day, what he did and said and how the others reacted. This does help, but still some thorns can be very hard to get out of his hearts. His favourite meditation place is his own quarters in the Temple, where he can have a nice view on the evening/night Coruscant, which is somehow more relaxing to him than the gardens in the Room of Thousand Fountains.
4. A little peek into the apartment
Eeth’s master-quarters in the Temple are decorated with effort and thought. The most significant part are the long heavy thick and soft curtains, that, if closed, take all the light in the room away, leaving the nice pleasant semidarkness atmoshphere. Also Eeth has a lot of various cushions around the whole apartment, along with an enormous supply of aroma candles!
5. The tragedy of the Padawan
Eeth's first and only Padawan learner was Sharad Hett.
Sharad's will to quit the Order deeply hurt Eeth, even if he didn't say that out loud, as he put a lot of effort and dedication in his promise to be the best master possible for Sharad. Also he lowkey agreed with the accusations of other masters telling him he was responsible for Sharad's departure because Koth failed as a teacher - so he does feel himself guilty of failing both Sharad and the Order.
After the Hett's incident, he actually vowed to himself not to take any more Padawan learners, so as not to let anyone's expectations down again. (And, like master Saesee Tiin, chose to put his efforts into other fields rather then teaching)
(these panels still hurt me somehow qwq
Sharad made Eeth cry, for kriffs sake!)
6. But he's still very friendly to kids
Despite the unpleasant exprienece with his own Padawan, he did let go of his initial frustration and now he is quite happy to give younglings and young padawans some general lessons! Also sometimes he takes other masters' students to group trainings or supervises them during the Trials of Knighthood. And young Jedi do love master Koth a lot - because he's soft and very patient, and does allow them some liberties :)
7. The social butterfly
Eeth is a "social butterfly" or a "caretaker" (ESFJ mbti-type)
He is used to being among a large number of people, but even though it seems that he gathers these people around him, in fact this is not true - his natural charm and outgoing personality allow him to easily make new acquaintances, interact with friends and encourage conversations, but he more follows his more assertive companions, adapts his behavior and words to them in order to create the most comfortable atmosphere possible, than directs them himself.
In other words, he offers the fun, but enjoys more the others' reactions to it, than the fun itself!
8. Sweet tooth!
Eeth LOVES sweet things! He generally likes all sorts of sweets, starting with various desserts and finishing with sugary tropic fruits. (Gaining weight? Naaah, the zabraks physiology allows him to consume a lot of food because of the higher metabolism due to the zabraks having two hearts. And also he does a lot of physical exercise in the training halls. So it's not a problem at all!)
9. And he is sweet himself too
This love for sugary things is not only for sweet treats actually, but also for the scents of cosmetics too! (And he does use a lot of that stuff). That is why Eeth usually smells of something nice, either caramel, or vanilla, or fruity etc.
This is often favorited by his colleagues on the Council, who definitely enjoy the pleasant aroma Eeth always brings with him to the Council meetings.
10. Energy drinks!
He got badly used to them during the Clone Wars era, because he really needed an additional energy resource when staying up all night brushing through various diplomatic documents and strategy plans. Caf wasn't much of a help because it just turned out to be not strong enough for the zabrak, so he eventually replaced it with cheap but more effective sweet energy drinks. It doesn't really matter to him which drinks to buy exactly, but the meiloorun-flavoured ones are among his favourites.
11. Form of lightsaber combat
Form III - Soresu!
I actually did a separate essay analyzing why Eeth’s form of combat is definitely Soresu, but if keeping brief: he uses Soresu mixed with some Ataru moves. Ataru was his initial style, advised by his master due to Eeth’s small complexion and natural agility & flexibility, but after changing his Jedi profile to a Consular he also adopted the main Consulars’ style - Soresu (usually called “the diplomat style”, “the most peaceful among the seven'' etc.). Koth’s Soresu moves can clearly be seen in the “Grievous Intrigue” episode in particular. Also Koth’s stance in the "Intrigue" is different from the famous Kenobi's "point-fingers" thingy simply because Eeth's pose is not an opening Soresu stance, but the brace-ready stance, which in Soresu is described as “having much in common with the "Ataru guard," with the hilt held at waist height on the dominant side in a two-handed grip for greater control, extended vertically upwards”
12. The double-bladed saber
Eeth wields a double-bladed saber almost as well as a regular one.
And in fact, it was Darth Maul who has inspired Eeth to try this kind of a weapon - after the High Council sent him to lead the investigation on the question of a zabrak sith on Naboo in 32 bby, he got genuinely interested in the possible perks of two blades in his Soresu and eventually mastered the double-bladed saber on quite a level. But he still sees this only as an interesting training option, but nothing more. So the double-bladed saber stays in the Temple and is used only in the Training Halls, but never on the battlefield.
13. An earring (yes, in the singular form)
Eeth has one of his ears pierced (right one), and he actually has several different earrings, mostly simple, like basic metal rings, which he usually picks every morning according to his mood. But to be honest, this earring thing is purely only for himself - because you can’t really see his ears under his usual three-ponytails hairstyle.
Though, he did abandon wearing earrings during the Clone Wars era - because since the war began and the potentially dangerous missions became more frequent, it wasn’t really a right place and time for such things, especially knowing that the Separatists can use some specific traps (like the ones they used to magnetize Jedi lightsabers on Lola-Sayu). The prospect of losing the whole ear due to such a trap is not the most pleasant one indeed.
14. HUGS (and other tactile activities)
Eeth very very VERY much loves hugs!
And for him, tactile contacts are more than just a way to feel comfortable - for him it's a vital part of the whole communication process. This issue dates back to his master, Kosul Ayada, who was a herglic (a race that is actually not very good at speaking Galactic Basic), and therefore helped himself with gestures and body language. And spending a lot of time around master Ayada, Eeth also got used to supporting his verbal dialogue by body language and tactile contact.
That is why while speaking Eeth actively gestures, grabs the other's hands, squeezes shoulders etc. And the hugs are his way to express sympathy and also to feel safe and appreciated!
15. Driving skills
Master Koth can drive, and actually quite well. And by driving I mean not spaceships, but smaller things that stay on land, like speeders.
And because he is a diplomat who often attends various meetings with senators and ambassadors, he also has a personal speeder, allocated to him by the Order for the ease of attending senator events and other diplomatic ocasions.
(But he does use it for other personal purposes too, because why not to, if there is an opportunity)))
(A panel of Eeth casually driving a speeder like a damn pro is one of my fav Eeth comics crumbs,,,,,,)
16. Singing
Eeth enjoys singing! But he usually keeps this thing to himself, making the quiet manthra-like singing a part of his meditative prep - it helps him to settle down his tangly thoughts a bit and tune his mind and body for the actual meditation.
(the hc was inspired by Hassani Shapi’s singing in one of his films, because Shapi’s voice is really beautiful and I’m sad they didn’t give him even a single line in the Phantom Menace when filming Koth’s Council scene)
17. Space soap operas...? (not so serious, sometimes treated as crack, but sometimes not)
Koth (secretly) likes soap operas on the late-night HoloNet, and often stays up to watch a new episode of something before going to bed. His favourite series is called “Lekkus of love” (my imaginary in-universe show I usually use in my sw writings) and it's about a twi’lek girl’s life, filmed in the style of our “Magnificent Century”, with lots of romantic intrigues and twists.
18. LOTS of feelings
Referencing the previous one - Eeth is very emotional, actually! Yes, he’s a Jedi and he knows how to keep his mind clear, but he’s still sensitive enough to actually cry over sad episodes of "Lekkus…" because “Poor Ai’sha, she worked so hard to get her man’s attention, but he still chose that togruta girl? This is outrageous, this is unfair! :ccc”
Also this can be in fact explained biologically. He's a zabrak, and zabraks are supposed to have a hot, blazing, higly-emotional nature (to match their home planet, Iridonia, wich is also boiling with acid seas and all that - otherwise they won't survive)
19. Podracing as a favourite sport
Eeth enjoys podracing. He first got into it back on Nar Shaddaa, when he heard a lot about racing and stuff from smugglers and bounty hunters (and at that time he even dreamed of becoming a cool podracer - but that was of course before he was taken to the Temple).
Now he doesn't dream of podracing that much, but still can and actually does enjoy watching annual championships via HoloNet. He also tries to keep in touch with the latest news in the podracing world (that interest he shares with the young Anakin Skywalker, and they do sometimes occasionally discuss podracing when they both have free time)
20. Horns
Eeth doesn’t really trust droids with trimming his horns, so he usually does that by himself, in the freshener, and that always takes a while. Also unlike a lot of male iridonian zabraks, who prefer to keep the tips of their horns comparatively sharp as a sign of their brutality and masculinity, Eeth chooses to make the tips humbly rounded and smoothed.
21. A pet? (Also not so serious - but sometimes it IS the most serious hc!)
Eeth has a pet loth-cat! The loth-cat is a she-cat, and she's big, fluffy and always on her own mind. Agen Kolar sometimes points out that the loth-cat is very similar to her owner in a lot of little things, like the way the cat purrs when being hugged and how she is obsessed with being clean and ideal too.
The loth-cat is also a bit jealous of her owner’s attention, so she will every time make herself comfortable on his knees when Eeth is meditating or working with documents to show that this is HER man. (especially when smb comes over to Eeth’s apartment - that's the case when she just NEEDS to state who’s the real boss here).
22. Participation in the first battle of Geonosis
I headcanon that Eeth was not directly on the Petranaki Arena actually during the first battle of Geonosis in the AOTC. Since he's not on-screen in that symbolic circle of survivors but is still stated as a participant, I assume that instead of being a part of the main group, Eeth joined Yoda on his trip to Kamino. Maybe not directly on the planet but still somewhere there, helping to gather clone legions to guide them to Geonosis.
(p.s. I know that Eeth's on-screen absence is because of Shapi being replaced with another actor and the new character turning out not at all alike to TPM Koth, but this little hc actually kinda fixes the hole without ruining anything…?))

Hey, not sure if you do smut but I think this request can work without a lot if you’d prefer😁 reader’s an art student and needs to sculpt a full body nude sculpture and Tom offers but gets a bit cheeky
thanks for the request dear! this was fun to write :-) i literally know nothing about art so if I get something wrong just ignore! i hope you enjoy!! i went a diff +route but I still think it fits! [ mlist ]
Word count: 3, 273
Warnings: slight nsfw,, nudity
Pairing: Tom Holland x art student reader!
“The issue is… I have no idea who to ask.” You sighed deeply, embarrassment washing over you as you talked to your best friends about your upcoming project.
Everyone knew you were a talented sculptor. That wasn’t the issue. The issue was that your professional sculpting internship at (your school) was currently learning about Ancient Greece. One of the requirements to pass the semester was to recreate a modern sculpture of someone you knew, and to make it as realistic as possible. Nakedness and all, which was a huge distinction of Greek statues.
There was a big problem though. You were incredibly shy, and you didn’t know who to ask to model for you.
Nudging you with a laugh, your friend flashed you a mischievous smile. “You know a lot of cute guys, why don’t you ask one of them?”
“Cute guys?” You scrunched your nose. “I know like three guys and I would cry if I had to see them naked.”
She sighed. “Fair. Does it have to be a guy?”
*-You nodded regretfully. “It has to be the opposite sex. It’s annoying but I u
erstand why. It’s important to be familiar with both sexes.”
Your best friend air quoted ‘familiar’ with a ridiculous smirk.
“Shut up.” You huffed, trying not to laugh at how dramatic she had become.
“I think I know a guy, he’s an aspiring actor and model.” Your best friend added casually.
Groaning, you shot her a glare. “Why didn’t you say that right away?”
She shrugged. “I like listening to you talk about your art.”
Her compliment almost worked, but you already knew that was partly the reason she was teasing you so hard. The other reason was because she had been trying to set you up with multiple friends for months. According to her, you had been single for far too long.
Her offer made you ponder deeper about your situation. You were slightly awkward when it came to getting to know someone, but you couldn’t imagine asking someone to strip right away so you could sculpt every curve your eyes grazed over. Whoever it ended up being had to be incredibly confident. Shallow yes, but that’s why you were hoping to find someone insanely attractive. Attractive people were usually confident, and responsibly so. “Maybe a stranger would be worse than someone I know.”
Snorting through her nose, your best friend stared at you like you were crazy. “Definitely not. If it’s awkward you never have to see him again. And if it’s not, well you can get cozy with a cutie.”
Taking a deep breath, you rolled your eyes. “I hate you sometimes.” You mumbled under your breath. You knew she was right, but you would never inflate her already enormous ego like that.
“You love me.” She sang sweetly.
“I do, now give him my number and tell him it’s of the utmost importance.”
❀∙∘✿∘∙❀
Days later, that conversation was on your mind as you nervously organized your sculpting tools. Trying to relieve some tension, you slapped a pound of clay against the table, and it echoed throughout the workshop.
Reality was the fact that this so called model boy was on his way to your studio. His name was Tom, and from the pictures you saw–he was incredibly handsome.
You couldn’t believe you had agreed to this, but alas, you needed this experience to pass your class. You just hoped and prayed that Tom was a lot more outgoing than you, and could keep the conversation flowing as you stared intently as his erect… penis.
Your cheeks flared up at the thought. How the hell were you going to do this?
Y/N: help (Y/B/F/N) I cant do this!!! im freaking out
Y/B/F: is he even there yet? lmfao
Y/N: noooooo :((
Y/B/F: if it makes you feel any better, he’s excited and thinks ur pretty
Y/N: why didn’t you tell me that before??!
Y/B/F: do u feel better now tho?
Y/N: no
Y/B/F: ik ur smiling ;) u aint slick
Giggling like a schoolgirl to relieve some of your anxiety, you set your cell phone on the table. Truthfully, your best friend had made you feel better. If anything bad happened, it would surely be a wonderful story to tell everyone in the future.
Your eyes naturally glanced across the room to the clock on the wall. 7:00pm. Tom would be here any minute as scheduled.
You took a deep breath and studied your surroundings. All your tools were in place, and the entire studio was tidied up as if you hadn’t worked the space in weeks. Next, you walked to the wall and glanced at your reflection in the mirror.
With your hair in a bun and your shabby working clothes, you looked suitable at best. You did have a little bit of makeup on to help yourself feel more confident. If you felt good, you could make your client feel good in return.
At least it looked like you didn’t try too hard. You didn’t want this man to get the wrong idea.
Then, snapping you out of your trance, there was a knock on the door.
You straightened out your shirt one last time, and tucked your baby hairs back behind your ears. Scoffing immediately after, you shook your head. Why were you trying to look cute? Who cares!
You rushed to grab the front door, afraid that you were making him wait too long. You flung it open, eyes locking with his right away.
You froze.
He was even more dashing in person.
“Judging by your cute outfit, I think I’m at the right place. Y/N right?”
And a British accent?
“Y-yes!” You flashed a smile to mask your obvious hesitation. You could easily play it off by opening the door and keeping your gaze averted. You were the master of smoothness.
“Thank you for coming, it’s about time I got this project done…” You tittered, locking the door behind him for privacy purposes. “You can set your things on the couch over there.” You pointed, eyes meeting his again when he glanced to the couch and then back to you.
“Awesome.” He nodded, holding your gaze for a moment longer than necessary.
“Do you want anything to eat or drink?” You offered, nodding your head back to the small kitchen in the back of the studio. You wished the studio apartment was yours alone, but you shared it with multiple other college students in your program.
“Water… or beer if you have any?”
You threw your head back in laughter, causing Tom to smile at your genuine reaction.
“Yeah, I can get you one.”
“In the meantime, should I just strip?” He smirked, not trying to be sly with his flirtations. Though your cheeks were dusting with pink, you were able to match his energy. Your best friend definitely set you up with someone she knew you’d like.
“Do whatever you want, love.” You mimicked his British accent. “You’re the guest after all.”
Walking past him, you gave him one last look when he was fully-clothed. Tom was certainly the player type, practically the perfect embodiment of the muse you had in mind. This wouldn’t be awkward for you, and it would be even better for him. Men like him thrived off of cheeky discomfort in their female counterparts.
Yet, truthfully, you were enjoying it as well. It felt nice to be complimented so soon into an introduction.
As you cracked open a can of beer for Tom and yourself, you could hear him shuffling around with his items. The sound of his buckle falling against the floor made you suddenly nervous to turn around.
Inhaling sharply, and gulping down a few more sips of beer, you finally gained the courage to walk back to the studio setup, where Tom had already wandered over to, completely naked.
“You seem to be in your element.” You noted, trying to keep your eyes leveled with his. Now that you were thinking about it, remaining calm and professional was excruciating in front of such an attractive man. And it certainly wasn’t helping that he was enjoying your embarrassment.
And least this was exciting.
Thanking you, Tom took the beer and pressed his lips against the cold aluminum. “I would definitely feel a lot more comfortable if you were naked too, darling.”
“Hey now,” You nose scrunched in a form of mock distaste. The man caught on immediately, holding your gaze with a sort of amusement that was masking desire. “I might think about it if you sit nice and pretty for me for more than five minutes so I can sketch you.”
“Your wish is my command.”
Shaking your head in disbelief, you walked over to your crafting desk. You decided you were going to start with the hardest part, the part which your grade depended heavily on- from the waist down.
But first, you quickly sketched Tom posing in multiple poses until you were satisfied with one. You had him mimic a sculpture you couldn’t recall, where one hand was pointed forward and the other was rested casually on his hip.
“Can I see what one you want to do?” He asked curiously from the stand you had him propped up on for a better view.
“Sure.” You flashed him your finished sketch. The lines darted all over the page, making it hard for him to picture what was going on in your head. The picture you had drawn would not make sense to anyone else but the artist. But apparently you were talented, so he would trust the process.
You were also trusting the process. The situation you were in could only be awkward if you allowed it to be. And so far it was moving along smoothly. You had your favorite music playing softly in the background to fill the silence, and Tom seemed to be relaxed and unbothered by how quietly you worked.
“That’s cool.” Tom whispered, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
Giggling from his sudden proximity, you tried to tease him. “It’s fine to not understand it.”
“I definitely don’t know what’s going on but it’s still interesting.” He admitted.
You set the paper back down on the table, and decided to attempt and sculpt the base. Moving past a still naked Tom, you tried to immerse yourself in your work, or at least make it seem like you were focused. “This takes hours you know, weeks and months- it won’t make sense for a long time.”
“Perfect.” He grinned. “I’ll get plenty of time to know you better.”
Laughing through your nose, you kept your attention on the clay you had dropped on the floor. “You can put your clothes back on.”
“Oh!” He chuckled. “Yeah.”
As you carefully trimmed the base clay with a heavy frame, you lifted your head to find Tom slipping a robe back on. He definitely came prepared. Had he done this before?
“Come here.” You gestured. “I need you to set your feet down on the clay.”
“I didn’t think this would get dirty so fast.”
“Shut up.” You huffed, grabbing his foot and pressing it down hard until the clay took shape to the size.
“Cold.” Tom commented in discomfort.
“I know.” You released your grip on his calf, looking up at him with a sheepish smile. “All part of the process, but good news for you- you’re done for the night.”
“Really?” Tom raised his eyebrows. “That’s it?”
You nodded, standing back up to normal height. “I’m experienced enough to sculpt the feet and legs tonight.”
“When should I come back?” He sounded a tad too eager, but it caused your smile to reappear.
“Tomorrow night if you’re available.”
“And maybe next time you can bring your own alcohol?” You gestured to the multiple beer cans poking out of the recycling bin.
The man flashed you a smile. “Sounds like a date.”
“It’s definitely not.”
Despite your rejection to his amusing advances, Tom’s expressions and mannerisms remained hopeful. Was it possible he was truly enjoying himself?
“I’ll leave my robe here. I’ll see you tomorrow at the same time?”
“Same time.” You confirmed, nodding him off. It was about time you started to really focus. Attractive man or not, you always got the most and best work done alone.
Because after the first night, the dynamics between you and Tom changed. He became incredibly invested in your process, asking you questions left and right, asking if there was any way he could help, and practically just lounging next to you hours after he would have been free to go.
“What do your sculptures usually look like?”
“Since this isn’t my own studio, I don’t have any of my pieces here. But I can show you a picture when I get my hands wiped off.”
“What do you build your sculptures with? It’s hard to imagine that a replica of me can come out of that much clay.”
“My sculptures are built with water-based clay and are fired in a gas kiln to cone 4, about 2150 degrees Fahrenheit… “ You nodded towards the back wall that had an installed kiln for you and everyone to share. “Trust me, there will be a lot more clay. Hundreds of pounds worth.”
“Can I help?”
“No.”
There was no lying that you enjoyed his presence. Whether he was talking your ear off or napping to the peaceful beat of your jazz music, there was never a dull moment when Tom was in your studio.
Weeks passed, and so did the process. Your sculpture of Tom had progressed to week three, and that’s when you started to grow nervous. When you finished, which you were almost done, would you ever see him again?
You had barreled through the awkwardness of replicating his genitals and chiseling his six pack perfectly into the hardening clay- but you still felt like something was missing. You knew even when you finished chiseling away his jaw line and chocolate brown eyes, there would still be something missing. Him. His presence.
Maybe it would have been better if you partnered up with a man that had zero personality.
Since it was just you and Tom for hours on end, your conversations gradually grew deeper, they stretched into new lengths, so much so that you eventually felt like you had known him for years.
When Tom claimed he wasn’t looking for a relationship, you felt your heart fall. That’s when you realized you were developing stronger feelings for your model. You hardly had time to think about trivial things like that, but you couldn’t deny your disappointment.
And you were sure he saw the brief tears glossing over your eyes when you turned away. Yet, he didn’t make light of it.
That’s when you knew it was useless.
It seemed useless until the sixth week, when you finally finished the head. You were too afraid to attach it. Tom had spent the last couple hours with you in the studio. His legs kicked back and occasional whistles streaming from his lips. He had practically memorized your playlist to the extent you had.
“Tom.” You called. “Your face is done.”
He cheered excitedly, pushing himself off the sofa and racing towards you. Tom had learned to give you your space while you worked, but in moments where you summoned him, he barely stood inches from you. The man would constantly touch you in ways you couldn’t deny sent shivers down your spine.
Like he did as he rounded the tabletop, planting himself by your side and placing his hand on the low of your back. As if it was natural.
“Wow,” He breathed. “Y/N,” Your name upon his lips sounded as blissful as the music. “It’s.. it’s wonderful. It looks just like me... wow that’s scary.”
“I’m happy you like it.” You bit your lip, wishing you felt more satisfied with your project. You wanted to impress him, but you didn’t want him to go.
“All I have to do is attach the head, and fire it up in the furnace one more time. Then it should be good to go.”
You moved to do so, wanting to remove yourself from his grip. It hurt your heart to know the bond you had formed with him would come to an end. Why did you even let yourself get to this point? Was it because he was good at flirting?
“Wait-” His sentence faltered when you whipped around to face him- looking somewhat hopeful.
“What?”
Tom paused, his throat tightening with the words he never thought he would admit. But he couldn’t leave tonight with at least trying. He needed to know how you felt. Because he could either leave with you in his arms, or he could leave never having to see you again.
He had been thinking of confessing to you for days now, but now that the time came, his mind was blank. “You really are beautiful, you know that right?”
“Why do you feel the need to flatter me?” You blurted, still unable to decipher the truth behind his words. You didn’t know how to accept such a compliment. Tom had claimed you were beautiful before, but this time it felt different.
His eyes spoke volumes. The beauty his eyes held was something you would never be able to replicate in a statue. It was a sight you found yourself never growing sick of.
Averting your eyes, you tried to move again. Yet this time, Tom gripped onto both of your arms.
“Look at me.”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“I won’t let you play me.”
“I was never playing you, darling.” The tenderheartedness intertwined with his words caused you to slowly turn your head back. Your lip quivered, and suddenly you felt like a schoolgirl all over again. You felt childish and unprepared for the intensity of your emotions.
“I don’t want to leave tonight without knowing if you feel the same.”
You blinked, hand reaching out to grip onto his. “And that is?”
“I don’t know if it’s love, but it could be.”
“That’s all I needed to hear.” You said, incredibly softly.
Tom released your arms. And before either of you could process what to do next, your lips interlocked.
You gripped onto him tightly, balling his white t shirt into a fist to keep him from leaving your side again.
“Tom-” You breathed.
The kiss you shared was laced with a fervent need, one that you had never experienced before, and one that you craved again and again.
After the passion you felt, the skin prickling desire, there would be no turning back.
“Fuck, you’re everything”’ He mumbled against your lips.
You pulled back slightly to gaze at his expression. He had looked so afraid before, but now he was smiling from ear to ear. Much like he did the day he arrived with a teasing attitude, ready to get under your skin and provide entertainment.
“How long have you felt like this?”
“Since the first day.” He kissed you again, his hands cupping your cheeks.
You whimpered against his muscular frame, trying to ignore the fluttering in your core, fluttering that begged and craved for more.
“How did you wait so long?”
“I wanted you to finish.”
You chuckled, cheesing at his straightforward, simple reply.
You were positive from that moment moving on, that Tom was not what you had thought at first glance. This entire time he had put you and your project first, letting his own desires sit and warm on the back-burner. That was something you would hold close to your heart, something you would cherish.
He cared for you in the same way you cared for him.
“Stay with me tonight, Tom.”
“I would love nothing more.”

i wanna know what your take on the nanami / gojo relationship is ?? cause a big part of me is like nanami isn't someone who really talks , like you won't get inside of him and he'll make jokes here and there with the whole work is shit thing . but i think he lost his heart and happiness alongside yuu and i think he even said this wasn't a mission first years should be on and the fact that yuu looked up to getou and gojo so much and still got killed was like a fucking blade to the stomach.
i mean do you think there is a romantic possability , i do play around with it but at the same time do you think it would be comforting ?? like i know the big ship is gojo and getou because of how close they were but what is nanami to gojo , a tool and a function or a friend and possible lover ??? and how will his death effect him ???
also were gojo actively smiles , nanami only smiles when death is around the corner and i am like red flags here and there . but sorry this got so long and please feel free to ignore it .
hello and welcome. take a seat and thank you for joining me. if this doesnt make sense just pretend u know what im talking about, its the adhd for making my thoughts so scattered everywhere
so in concept the nanami and gojou ship in a romantic concept is rly cute in concept like u have an ex - salary man whos serious doesnt allow himself the luxury of acting his age but on the other end u have someone who still acts like hes a child and never takes anything serious even when hes fighting. they both endured the trauma being a jujutsu sorcerer entails yet they have nothing in common -- gojou dresses like hes a reflection with the moon and nanami, the sun. also the fact that gojou thinks that he, himself, is ascended above all he works with while nanami is just a human living his day to day, and lot of ppl use this as nanami to bring down gojou to his morality just like a nudge or a friendly reminder. he even tolerates and puts up with him a lot more than he should. hes very patient but very honest. a lot of the fanart of them is SO CUTE esp when theyre married and living happily with one another. i even ship them, its actually one of my top ships next to satosugu but like in reality its not so great unfortunately
honestly? theres a small slim of a possibility but due to the nature of the clash of personalities and what their job its like ... not rly possible
nanami, even out of being a salary man, fully treats being a jujutsu sorcerer as a 9 - 5 job and refuses to work overtime. he has small luxuries like he enjoys reading and eating left overs after a day of working hard like who wouldnt and not to mention hes the type to keep his relationships strictly professional. gojou has probably asked him several times to take him out for drinks after work (altho work never ends with gojou which is ironic) and has said no. it’s funny now that i think about it, shouko probably asks him for an occasional drink after hours and he accepts because at least he likes shouko and he knows theres no ulterior motive from her just a couple of coworkers doing some heavy drinking but nothing ever more than that -- hes even said that he wants to get married but when hes no longer a sorcerer
sucks tho, because like everyone else, nanami sees gojou as someone who is extremely powerful and only sees him for his techniques except more like hes a nuisance and extremely annoying, even to the point of having absolutely no respect for him. he realizes, yeah hes strong but as for the full package that is satoru gojou? there’s absolutely nothing to respect about that man
and while we’re talking about gojou, i’ll say it, he’s mentally unstable. i mean, we all knew that -- hes got a couple of “screws loose” as he puts it inside that rattling brain of his. on the opposite side of the spectrum, hes not capable of handling a romantic relationship. hes always always busy, its rare that that he gets a breather for himself. hes always being sent out on missions out of country and ive always portrayed gojou as the type of partner thats not even gentle on his partners in terms of being playful, childish, and being a nuisance. his mental health is absolutely terrible (i’m not saying nanamis is any better but) hes always acted much younger than what he is altho i do blame his upbringing for that.
and gojou treats everyone as good friends but does like to particularly pick on ppl who take themselves too seriously (nanami and utahime), mei mei and yuki are exempt from this. he also doesnt rly care for ichiji but like, that doesnt matter LOL.
i do see nanami eventually giving in for one (1) after dinner ‘date’ after work but when gojou is actually less himself, hes tolerable to be around which isnt saying much tbh. you should def listen to the nanami and gojou drama audio if u can! they’re so fucking funny as a pair, which solidifies them as being cute but were not talking about that rn.
in terms of being ‘what are they’ to each other, its hard to tell. i talked about it briefly as nanami reminding him of his morality and being his humility tho gojou doesnt act like it, he fully believes hes above all and everyone, lovers and close friends are included in this. i read a lot of nana/go fanfics and they portray nanami as someone to push down his ego; to remind him hes actually Not all that great, a child in an adults body, etc. he’s a brutality honest man and gojou can take critic and criticisms to his person but that doesnt mean hes going to listen (and he doesnt, hes even self aware that his personality sucks ass but does he bother to change? absolutely not and he wont start now nor for anyone else).
yuu did definitely help nanami change and shift his ideas about the world, esp hating the jujutsu society afterwards. like, i dont blame u king, it sucks ass. tho, i dont think nanami looked up or cared for gojou and getou that much. getou he looked up to more so because at least hes as a respectable guy, strong, good looking, and stimulates intellectual conversations. gojou? not so much. nanami probably thought that it doesnt matter if u have techniques that is extremely rare to acquire and even more so to master but u suck ass and u dont stimulate joy to be around.
nanami is a good friend and high school buddy to gojou and nanami would definitely call him ‘coworker’ or something along those lines when hes annoyed him too much or doesnt want gojou to benefit too much from simple acknowledgement. gojou thinks hes an ascended being but he definitely respects and finds nanami to be a strong sorcerer and was rather surprised when he took the 9 - 5 job but it was definitely safer.
death ... ah, i think about this all the time. it’s like losing suguru all again except he didnt go rogue and kill a whole village. hes absolutely confident in nanamis abilities to fend off curses and hes too stubborn to let himself die as well, so the idea of him dying doesnt ever cross his mind. thats a true stab to the gut to hear that nanami has died, maybe a moment of truly being unhinged and a darker nature but we wont rly know until it happens in the manga, which i cant wait. i mean, at least mei mei, utahime, and shouko are around but this is nanami were talking about. if this was in terms of a romantic relationship rather than a simple seemingly one - sided friendship of enjoying of being around that person but that person just tolerating him and hoping he goes away eventually. i can’t say, i can’t say! just take these thoughts with like a grain of salt.
also that last statement in the ask, gojous smiles are fake and a mask while the rare times nanami does smile, its genuine.
regardless of what i said, i think it can be a comfy ship! this ship isnt toxic but any means (unless u make it toxic then well, thats a you thing) so just enjoy it! i know i do i think as long as u recognize that maybe neither of them being a relationship would benefit the other then go stupid go crazy, i know i will.
#jupitersnake#tldr its cute in concept but reality they just dont suit each other but#im a sucker for opposites attract so catch me all over the nana/go tag baybe!!!!!!

We’ve arrived at day four, everyone! Today, the admin team would like to take a moment to appreciate one another. Running a group for two years comes with many moments of excitement and joy. It’s incredible to see the plot make leaps and bound forwards, and watch characters that first began in our heads flourish into the player’s own on the dash. It also, admittedly, comes with its challenges; challenges we embrace with enthusiasm as a team, relying on one another and encouraging one another when life gets demanding.
For a DiVerona admin history lesson — Rosey and Jen first opened the group together in August 2018, preparing diligently to launch DiVerona and bring it to Tumblr after a few years of hiatus. Minnie acted as an invisible admin beginning August 2018, offering advice when requested, and came on as an official admin in MAY, 2019. Julie joined our team as the graphics admin in JULY, 2019 and ushered in a beautiful era and graphics revamp for Act II. Last, but certainly not least, Rogue was welcomed to the admin team in APRIL, 2020 to create stunning, heart-wrenching characters and continue building on the momentum of the plot.
Below, you will find a little love letter each admin wrote for one another. For this particular day, we will not be requiring any activity from our members. Feel free to take a break! If you’d like to show admin appreciation, you are free to do so, but we are not expecting it and hope you do not feel pressured to do so.
Thank you all for a wonderful two years of being admins of an incredible group like DiVerona!
JEN
My fire sign soulmate, my BITCH. As an admin, you bring aLL of the Montague spirit and heart and fire, and it shows in how passionate you are when guiding DiVerona’s story and development. Your creativity? Your flair for drama that inspires the most game-changing plot drops and the most iconic line in this group’s history? I mean, who else could have come up with infant king? For me, Jen, you embody the creative and collaborative spirit of DiVerona, and I treasure the fun you bring to the group and to the team. On a personal level, you have shown up for me time and time again. For that, I am so, so thankful for you. Your honesty is invaluable to me, whether you’re telling me I’m being impulsive or need to calm the hell down. You’re the sense of humor when we need it most, the ride-or-die who both starts adventures and cleans up the messes after, and my dear friend. — MINNIE
I’ve never met someone as passionate as you. You stick to your guns the whole way down and there’s something so deeply admirable in that -- you take such great pride in the things you do and how hard you work and what you bring to the table both as a writer and as an admin. We have exactly the same sense of humor and I love sending you memes and text posts through Discord at like, four in the morning, and seeing a reply from you when I wake up. It’s like taking a shot of orange juice right after rolling out of bed. Wakes me right up! You’re dedicated to the end, even when you’ve struggled, and I think that spokes both to your character and who you are as a friend. You’re like a sister to me in the sense I feel like we see right through each other, and I couldn’t be happier to know someone like you and get to work with you, even on opposite sides of the world. Our calls together are one of my favorite things to do -- we just click. <3 -- JULIE
Getting closer to you, Jen, has been one of my favorite parts of coming online as an admin. I have always admired you, I’ve always loved writing with you, but being your friend is one of the most rewarding things in the world. You have such fierce passion for things, all this burning intensity inside of you and an unflinching way of confronting the world that leaves me in absolute awe. The way you can always see around the corner to what a character needs (rather than what they want or what they might say) gives you such a great ability to build masterful plots and expand our world. Our shared weird insomnia has led to so many absolutely insightful, ridiculous, very hazy conversations, and I am shocked the team has put up with us for this long, but also more glad than anything in the world. Every word you write is precious to me, in character or out, and I’m going to save all of them forever so I can drag you within an inch of your life at ANY moment. Like a clingy little barnacle. I treasure both the experience of working creatively with you and of getting absolutely nothing done with you, and I love you with all my heart!! — ROGUE
to my idiot jen, sometimes i really can’t believe how we found each other again. i truly believe that it was no less than fate (and my utter disregard for any sense of self-preservation) that we would come into each other’s lives right when we did. i have never really questioned why or thought too much on how - because truly i cant really recall a moment where i didn’t know everything about you. there are so many things that i love about you: your tuna sandwiches and food pictures, our really really extensive aus, sharing with me every little frightening piece of your heart, forcing vulnerability and honesty and unconditional LOVE and being so very patient with me...over the past two years there has been so much that i’ve learned about you and still so much that there is still left to learn and love. i adore you to the moon and back you idiot. - ROSEY
JULIE
Hopefully you're not cringing too hard over this Very Formal Approach that I'm taking but trust me, if I could throw a meme in here somewhere I WOULD. Anyway, ever since you came on board, you've been nothing but a blessing to the team, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Your graphics and aesthetic vision for the group have inspired us in amazing ways, and beyond that you've lifted the team up with your pragmatic sense of judgement and gentle sensitivity to things. You really represent both sides of the same coin, dude, like… IT BLOWS MY MIND. I'm so happy to be sharing this anniversary with you, and I'm so proud of you and how far you've come ever since I met you, not just when it comes to the growth of your incredible talents but also when it comes to your writing and your maturity and pretty much everything about you. Thank you for being part of this amazing journey with us. I wouldn’t want to share it with anyone else. — JEN
Goosie, I really think you’re the closest thing to a renaissance woman I’ve met, not just in ability but also in who you are. Our entire admin team is pretty creative and original, but you are I think the true artist among us! And while your graphics are truly godlike and unlike anything I’ve ever seen in the RPC before, it’s in your writing I see it most. You’re the most versatile member on the admin team, Goosie, and I think you ground us in so many ways. Not just in doing major graphic makeovers or writing the single most iconic plot drop of DIVerona, but also with your kindness, compassion, intuition and self-awareness. I really would feel a little lost without you, Goosie - not only as an admin, but as a person! Every time you speak, I want to listen; every time you create anything, I want to frame it in a museum. I love you to fucking BITS, and I am genuinely so proud to call you buddy. (I thought about using friend instead, but buddy felt more accurate for us…) — MINNIE
Where would I begin? How can I even write a note when I feel like everything I do and every act I take is part of how much I love you, because it’s like, an entirely indelible part of me? Julie, you’re one of the most talented people in the world. Literally. Your writing is so piercing, so emotionally intelligent and brave and just vulnerable in a way I’ve never seen. Your graphics and art have such a passion to them; I think I love them because they’re beautiful, but I know I love them because I see little parts of you in them that delight me every time. I would crawl across broken glass to be a part of anything you do; I feel so lucky that I’m someone who often gets to see your works in progress, the messy edges of things, the half-finished projects. You bring such warmth to the team and such a grounded, different perspective; there have been so many times where we would entirely miss things if you hadn’t pointed them out when we were blind. You are our cornerstone, the one who anchors and glues us all together in so many ways, and I want to bask in that warm glow of your sunlight forever. — ROGUE
to my dearest julie, i wish i could just put a cody ko meme here but i am ABSTAINING EVEN THOUGH I FEEL LIKE YOU KNOW WHICH CODY KO MEME I WOULD PUT HERE. whenever i think about the times that i dragged you back into my life...like there are so many things in life i thank god i did but keeping you in it EVEN WHEN YOU TRIED TO ESCAPE MY CLUTCHES - that is number 1. having late night conversations with you about literally everything and anything makes my heart feel so full. you have been so much to me and trying to put it into words is really really difficult because none of them feel like they’re ever going to be enough. i love you for so many reasons: your humility, your determination to be there whenever, every single video and podcast you send me, your ability to listen and make people feel heard. you are special and if we are to take on this world i thank god i get to take it on with you. i love you. -- ROSEY
MINNIE
We complete each other and THAT'S JUST THE TEA. I admit, I can be a little over the top and just Too Much sometimes, but you always get me, and it's something that I appreciate more than I can put into words. You're the rock of this team, Minnie, and even though it's a pretty lame way of saying it, it feels right. I truly don't know where the team would be without you, but I know it wouldn't be anywhere near where it is now. You have a way of holding us together, of keeping us steady when we're weighed down or doubtful, with your kind heart, endless calm and unconditional support. I honestly don't know what to thank you for because it feels like there's way too many things and I wouldn't even know where to begin… but thank you for being here and being at our side through everything. I'm so proud of you and the amazing, one of a kind person that you are, and I wouldn't wanna share such a special moment with anyone else. — JEN
When it comes down to it, I think the best word to describe you would be a powerhouse. I’ve never met a woman in my life who works quite as fucking hard as you do -- and if not harder, then smarter, y’know? This past year I’ve spent getting to know you more and more, slowly wheedling you into opening up (motherfucker! We are Known in this house!) and sharing bits and pieces of myself, I’ve come to admire you just for who you are as a person. I’ve learned so much from you in standing my ground and not letting the wind blow me over. You’re funny and witty and sharp as a knife when it comes to your style of prose, and your love not just for Maeve and Paola but for the group shine through everything you do. You’ve held us all together like glue when we needed some extra assistance and let us know when we needed to pick things up, too. You’re open and honest with your feelings and I value that so much about you, knowing I can come to you and lay the cards down and ask your opinion on things and you’ll give it to me straight. I’ve never really had someone “at my back” in the sense of friendship, but oh man, Minnie, you make me feel safe, and I think you’ll know how much that means when I say it. -- JULIE
Oh, no, I’ve already been so embarrassing about how much I love you Minnie!! I suppose it’s only right I do it on main as well. I genuinely feel like I haven’t had another friend in my life who balances with me so well. When we’re united and on our peak shit, we complete each other, shoring up the places where we’re both insecure, making us both feel safer with each other nearby. I’ve written some of my favorite dynamics in RP with you, here at DV, and I don’t think I’d have grown half so much in my outside life or my rp life without you there to talk to. You are also the absolute rock of this team, to steal Jen’s words. When we’re all freaking out and afraid to act or worried about getting stuff wrong, you cut through everyone’s bullshit and get right to the heart of the matter. Your direct and straightforward way of speaking and of loving is a force for good in the world and on the team, and you are also maybe one of the funniest people alive, or at least in my acquaintance. I love your laugh, I love how open you are with your heart when you’re with us, I love you so very much. I want to write with you and talk to you for as long as you let me. — ROGUE
to twin-flame minnie, i wish you could see my face as i type this because this amount of vulnerability is making me like...ew. but minnie your soul resonates with me so much - never would i have ever thought in the time that we’ve known each other (it really did start with a conversation about glitter and then somehow just expanded from there and tbh i am not at all surprised) that i would bare myself to you as much as i have and felt completely and totally understood without having to say things in so many words. i cannot wait for the day when i can sweep you into my arms in a great big hug and i probably will cry when i do because i love you so much. there are too many things to love about you: from your signature giggle, to your ability to take on the world, to your conscientious growth as a person...you give me so much hope. and i don’t think it’s necessary to say anything more than that. i love you. -- ROSEY
ROGUE
When you first joined, you fit into the team so naturally, Rogue, it honestly felt as though you had always been a part of it. I remember being SHOOK AS FUCK at all the incredible things that you were doing in NO TIME, like, right from the start, you crafted the most amazing bios, offered the most rich and intriguing input for the plot, and helped us when it comes addressing issues and concerns in a way that made it all so much easier to tackle over time. Not to mention your sunny presence and the unconditional support that you offer, which never fail to brighten everything when we hit a bump in the road or things get a little tough. It's amazing to consider all that you've achieved and all the ways you've uplifted the team despite being with us for the least amount of time. In my eyes, you've always been with us, and I'm SO fucking proud of you and happy to be sharing all of this with you. Thank you for being a part of this team, and a part of this journey with me. — JEN
Maybe it’s a little cheesy to say, but I think the universe meant for us to meet, and having you on the team with us is a gift. We all mesh together so well and you pull things up out of nowhere on the fly, whether it be individual character plot development or actually writing The Most Iconic Plot Drop Of All Time(TM) and letting me tack on a little flourish at the end. You’re like... the cheese to my cracker, the whipped cream to my slice of pie, the biscuit with my coffee. We complete each other, and you listen to me when I really need to just word vomit all over the floor about something either entirely related or all too related, from time to time. I know if I need to call you anytime I can, and maybe my favorite memory of 2020 so far has been us watching Cats together and just suffering the entire time, but getting through it together. You’re funny, smart, endlessly endearing, work harder than the devil when it comes to threads and replies, and I’m grateful as all get out to have you with me in life!! -- JULIE
ROGUE, YOU REALLY CAME IN HERE AND SAID YEAH, I’M GOING TO SHAKE SHIT UP FROM DAY ONE. Whew, I remember one week you knocked out like four bios back-to-back and I just stood there trying to stop myself from booking a flight to your city and camping out in front of your house like the stan that I am. Sometimes, I still can’t believe there was a day you weren’t on the admin team because you not only fit seamlessly, but you also are just so essential now. Everything you’ve done in the few months since you joined our team, Rogue, has been *chef’s kiss* flawless. From the characters that I’m ANXIOUS to see on the dash to the ways you’ve helped guide our decisions and responses, I can’t imagine DiVerona and the admin team without you anymore! You brighten my day on a daily basis, and I love brainstorming with you, screaming with you, and I just love YOU! — MINNIE
to baby rogue, you see and know my True Sinner Nature rogue and the fact that you, in turn, have shared yours with me makes me feel so warm and bubbly inside - as well as makes me giggle. we really do have this habit of taking little smidgens of inspiration and connections and growing them into something extraordinary. geeking out about anything and everything within that encyclopedic brain of yours is one of my favorite things - our late night conversations, watching cursed together, plucking characters and plots from each other’s names as if they were already written in the stars...i dont know how to live without. there are so many things that i love about you: how you want to make everyone feel seen, how inclusive you are and kind, how you foster such creativity to others...i love and treasure you so very much. and we have so many more characters and worlds to explore together. -- ROSEY
ROSEY
I don’t think I'll ever forget the day that you asked me if I'd like to be an admin and offered me a spot on the team. It was just you, me and Bree back then and I was way in over my head, but you made me feel at home without even trying, honestly. DV is my first longstanding admin experience and truly the best one I've ever had, and it’s all thanks to you, which is something that I'll always cherish and keep close to my heart. I've looked up to you, learned a lot from you and felt inspired by you over the years, not just because everything was so new to me at the start, but because you're a guiding light for anyone who's lucky enough to have you in their life and share with you the experiences that I have. I'm so incredibly proud of everything we've done together, and proud of you most of all. Thank you for being the one to bring me along for this amazing journey, Rosey, and thank you for going through it with me for two amazing, unforgettable years. — JEN
I think, sometimes, that people think I’m joking when I tell them you saved my life, Rosey Ro, but you did, in a way that I would never have guessed. I felt utterly alone, coming fresh out of a physically and mentally abusive relationship, juggling court dates and other things that seemed impossible to conquer. I’d left Diverona unsure of my present, what I’d considered my past, and my future, but I happened to log into Discord one day and came upon that good ole’ 9+ messages notification. All of them were from you. Every single one. It felt like a sign, of some kind, and so, as I scraped my life together, we chatted and I re-apped for DV, and in spite of tumultuous times on both our ends, I don’t regret a fucking minute of it. You have truly helped me in figuring out who I am as an individual person, where I fit in the world, and with every crisis and “OH SHIT” moment, you’ve been there for me, whether it was in your writing, your jokes, late night calls with you, messages over Whatsapp knee-deep in irritation or excitement. You’re the older sister I never got to have. Without Diverona, my life wouldn’t be the same. Without you, my life wouldn’t be the same. I love you so much. -- JULIE
How far we’ve come since we talked about Greek life parties and glitter… Rosey, my sister sign and my mirror, the mother to my father, I love you very much. Your creativity is – as we all can tell from DiVerona’s success – UNMATCHED, and your heart goes even deeper than I think most people realize. For someone who writes some of the scariest and evilest characters, you are one of the most considerate, thoughtful and empathetic people I’ve yet to meet. Thank you for creating this space and reminding us time and time again that we’re more than just admins; we’re individuals with Big Feelings as well as Big Brains. You did an amazing job, Rosey. It doesn’t get said enough, and if I could, I would tattoo it to your brain if it meant it would stick: you created a beautiful group, and no one can take that away from you. — MINNIE
Rosey, Rosey, Rosey. All of this is your fault. I never thought I would join any kind of mafia RP, always having been prone to more fantastical settings in my preferences, but when you asked me to look around at the bios, how could I say no? How could I have known it would entirely change my life? Before DV and in DV, you and I have written some of my favorite relationships to work on, some of my favorite threads of all time. You pull out such creativity from me that I never would’ve imagined existed in my brain. I love you such a ridiculous amount. I could, would, and do talk to you about anything and everything. I want to spend like 50 years of my life fighting with you over whether Hope from Legacies is hot and indulging in our weird shared white boy thirsts. You are so funny, so talented, so bright, so interesting and I don’t know how I got so lucky as to be your friend. If you and I aren’t writing together when we’re 80 it’s because I died early and tragically and you wore a sexy fascinator to my funeral. — ROGUE

“You have to look beyond the mirror to see yourself.” - Kimto Oche Emmanuel
The palace was full of so much noise. Servants were running around, preparing for the banquet that would take place later that afternoon. Yoon wasn’t overly fond of all the fuss and fanfare, but he knew it was something that his parents preferred to indulge in for his sake. He would be making a long journey soon and it would be weeks before he would be able to return home. While he had no doubt that he would be able to reside in comfort at the embassy in Ming, there was the off chance that he would be homesick.
Sighing, he lowered the philosophical text he was perusing in order to give his eyes a break. The weight that sank in the far corner of his heart was knowing that he would not be able to see Kalina as he pleased. Sure, he could send word for her and the sorceress would most likely appear like he wished. But he also knew that she was not a being that would come at every beck and call. She was no pet and he was not her master.
“Cheo-ha! Minister Jang has arrived.”
Lifting his head up, Yoon sat up properly and closed the book. “Show him in.”
The doors to his chambers slid open and he watched the Minister enter. Yoon pulled himself up to a proper standing position, waiting for the minister to bow before he lowered his own head respectfully. The Minister was a fairly tall man, largely built and with a long beard that was well-groomed. Wearing his lavender and opal silk robes, Yoon was curious as to why he was in the palace without his official robes on. It went against palace etiquette and put a hamper on security.
Simply put: it was pompous and disgraceful.
Yoon then eased himself back down on his silk cushion, a polite smile forming on his face. “Father-in-Law, what brings you to my palace so early in the day?” Yoon peered at his attire, raising his brows in question. “You aren’t wearing your official robes today. Was the Royal Advisory meeting not held this morning?”
Minister Jang stroked his beard and chuckled. “It was, Your Highness. We adjourned early in light of your banquet this afternoon.”
“I see.” Narrowing his eyes, he continued to smile. “Are you stepping out of the palace before the festivities begin?”
“Indeed. I have to retrieve a few things from my estate.” Minister Jang grinned. “Gifts for you, Your Highness.”
Yoon smirked, leaning back until his spine was straight. “What is the occasion? Surely it cannot be because of my trip to Ming?”
“There are other things to celebrate, Your Highness.” Clearing his throat, he placed a hand on his knee. “Things such as golden opportunities.”
The Crown Prince bit back the urge to roll his eyes. Instead, he placed his hand on his desk, drumming his fingers along the surface. He wouldn’t humor his father-in-law with posturing or feigned curiosities. He was sure the Minister appreciated these things as well. Subtlety was a skill Yoon excelled in, but one Minister Jang sorely lacked.
Taking the hint, the Minister continued. “There are a few merchants in Ming that will attempt to make contact with you a few days after your arrival. They have advice that Your Highness might be eager to hear.”
Yoon’s smile fell slightly. “What makes you so sure, Father-in-law?”
“Cheo-ha,” he said through his smile, “I know how intelligent you are. Even more than everyone else in the palace. You are not ignorant of the strained relations between Ming and Japan.”
Folding his arms across his chest, Yoon expelled a bit of breath from his teeth. “Is this not something that is already in discussion with the Privy Council? Why bring me into this?”
He already did not like where this conversation was headed. Yoon was merely a Crown Prince, the heir apparent. But he was not king. Having these talks without his father present was borderline treasonous.
Because it was these sorts of conversations that led to bloodshed within the palace walls.
“Your Highness, don’t you see that His Majesty is testing you?” Minister Jang leaned forward, bracing his hands on both knees. “This is the first step to slowly granting more power into your hands, determining if you are prepared to rule this country.”
Yoon frowned but said nothing.
“If you do well during this trip, then His Majesty will place foreign relations with Ming entirely at your disposal!”
Suddenly, Yoon slammed his hand on his desk, causing his father-in-law to shrink back a measure. The Minister may have been his elder and also his relative through marriage, but he wouldn’t stand for this underhanded way of speaking to him. This was blatant disrespect to the crown.
However, he didn’t let his anger come unhinged. Not yet. Taking a moment to slowly inhale, he canted his head to the side as a smile returned to his face. It must have unsettled his father-in-law greatly, seeing as how he leaned back away from Yoon.
“Forgive my rudeness, Father-in-law,” Yoon spoke slowly, his voice dropping a full octave, “but do you intend to use me to secure financial gain in Ming?”
The Minister balked. Having never heard Yoon speak to him in such a manner, his surprise was well-warranted. “S-Seja Cheo-ha!”
Drumming his fingers along the desk, he averted his gaze to peer at the bookshelf on the other side of the room. He removed all expression from his face, save for boredom. Yoon didn’t want to believe the rumors of how sickeningly devious his father-in-law was. But he now heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.
“You married your daughter off to the Crown Prince, the future King of this country. Doing so allocated you wealth and even your position in court was elevated at the behest of the Crown Princess and out of obligation from the King.” Yoon cut his eyes back to look at the Minister. “And if that wasn’t enough, you now want me to enable you access to Ming’s trading circuit?” A slow smile spread over his lips as he narrowed his eyes. “Tell me, Father-in-law, are you not fond of your head being attached to your neck?”
Genuine fear glossed over the Minister’s eyes as he visibly shuddered. Yoon knew that this wasn’t the normal demeanor he showcased to Minister Jang. In fact, he hardly revealed this side of himself to anyone. He wore the face of a calm, kind and understanding Crown Prince. He was sincerely objective in discussions and open to all manners of opinions to help broaden and strengthen his worldview. He wasn’t the sort to resort to violence to solve problems, preferring diplomacy above all else.
But a fool the Crown Prince was not.
Anyone who thought otherwise would be in for a world of pain.
And like nothing happened, Yoon put on a happy smile and laughed heartily. “Do not take my words so seriously, Father-in-law! You look as though you are ready to jump off the Golden Mountains as we speak.” Again, he laughed, and the Minister gave a half-hearted chuckle to accompany the pleasant sounds. Once their laughter subsided, he looked pointedly back at the older man. “Ming may be our ally now, but that could always change. It has been proven time and again throughout this nation’s history, has it not? Do not be so quick to join hands with people who have always thought of our country as beneath them.”
The Minister lowered his head. “Forgive my loose lips, Crown Prince.”
“All is well.” Yoon rose from his seat and the Minister quickly followed suit. Gesturing toward the door, he stepped out from around his desk. “I’m sure you haven’t visited the Crown Princess yet. Why don’t we go greet her together before you return to your estate to conduct your business? I’m sure she will be elated to see you.”
“O-Of course, Your Highness.”
Exiting his chambers, they walked side-by-side as the rest of the Crown Prince’s attendants followed closely behind. It truly was a beautiful day and he could only hope for the weather to be just as pleasant for the start of his journey tomorrow. But Kalina predicted that his journey would be fine, so foul weather shouldn’t have been an issue.
“Are you looking forward to the festivities today, Your Highness?”
Yoon peered at the Minister with a curious expression. “Isn’t it just like any other banquet held within the palace? I would have figured you would be bored of them by now.”
Minister Jang chuckled as he stroked his beard. “It is a chance for the people to take a break and celebrate with you.” He placed a hand behind his back. “And there are a group of performance troupes who are going to compete for a slot to perform regularly in the palace.”
The Crown Prince lofted a brow. “Is that so?”
“Yes, Your Highness,” the Minister said while nodding, “so it will be exceptionally entertaining today.”
“Will I have a hand in this?” He hoped not.
“They will be judged on how well you like each performance, Your Highness. You needn’t do anything extra.”
Yoon smirked, folding his hands behind his back. “Good.”
Taking a deep breath, Yoongi kept his arms extended so that he could balance himself on the tightrope. The other members of the troupe seemed to be holding their breaths, anticipating what he was going to do. Clasped in one hand was a paper fan, unfurled to showcase the black calligraphy stroke for the character “Fate”. The morning sun beat down overhead and a single bead of sweat slid down the bridge of his nose, dangling from the tip and threatening to fall.
Even though he was several feet off the ground, he could hear the whispered conversations playing out beneath him. Well, for the ones who weren’t focusing on holding their breaths anyway.
“Wow,” a voice said from below, “I can’t believe that he’s never been part of a performance troupe before.”
“He’s good at martial arts though, right? That means he’s got some acrobatic skills naturally.”
“...but how long is he going to just stand there?”
“He hasn’t moved in the last ten minutes.”
“Do you think he’s scared of heights?”
“Idiot! If he was scared, how the hell did he get up there in the first place?!”
“No one helped him?”
“Not that I know of. I think he jumped up there all on his own.”
“Honestly, I can’t hold it in anymore. I’m going to pass out if he doesn’t do something soon.”
“Ya! Min Yoongi! Are you taking us for a ride or are you going to actually do something?!”
Yoongi craned his neck so he could glare down at Seokjin jumbled amongst the troupe. Snapping the fan closed, he pointed it directly at them and everyone grew silent. “Shut your mouth, will you?” He unfurled the fan roughly again and steadied himself. “I’m trying to focus.”
“Oi! Hyung-nim!” Looking down, he saw it was Park Jimin calling up to him this time. There was a bright smile on his face as he gave him two thumbs up. “Just do whatever feels natural. Don’t worry about anything else, alright?”
Sighing, Yoongi nodded and then focused his attention back in front of him. Jimin was right. There was nothing to this. If Namjoon could do it, why couldn’t he? It didn’t matter that he’d sprained his ankle walking up the mountain. The point was that Kim Namjoon could make this tightrope obey his command.
Yoongi would be no different.
Sliding his foot along the rope, the world came to a raw tilt for only a split second. Using his back leg, he launched himself up into the air. He ignored everyone below as they all gasped at how high he sailed into the sky. Throwing his arms back, he felt the warmth of the sun’s rays on his face. Kicking his legs up, Yoongi back somersaulted twice before landing safely back on the tightrope. His entire body trembled as he attempted to stabilize himself.
The cheers from below encouraged him to keep going. Kicking off the rope, he did a double front flip before he fell onto the rope in a crouched position. He continued to keep his arms extended, the fan perfectly held open as he wobbled back and forth on the tightrope. Rolling forward, he curled his legs under him and bounced back off the rope again, curling his body and angling it to the side until he did a perfect dismount off the rope and onto the grass. The speed of his descent was used to roll his body until he was safely brought to a halt by his right knee.
Taehyung screamed in delight as he raced over to Yoongi’s side, Hoseok and Jungkook not far behind him as they began patting his shoulders furiously in praise. He scratched at his nose, feeling a soft warmth creep around his cheeks as the rest of the troupe members all crowded around him, telling him how wonderful of a job he did.
“You’re a natural at this, Yoongi-ah,” Seokjin said as he patted his head, causing him to frown slightly, “maybe you should convince your father to let you come off the mountain and join the troupe.”
Yoongi batted his hand away as Jimin took the fan from his hand. “Quiet, you.”
“Seriously, he’s not wrong, Hyung-nim!” Taehyung was practically beaming. “You’re a natural at this!”
He didn’t know what to say in response to his words so he cleared his throat loudly instead.
Namjoon clapped a hand on Yoongi’s shoulder, giving it a gentle shake. “You’re a lifesaver, Hyung-nim. We would’ve been in big trouble without your help.”
His brows furrowed slightly as he eyed the bandage around Namjoon’s ankle. “Are you going to be alright?”
“I’ll be fine,” said Namjoon, a grin pulling at the corner of his mouth, “keep it up and they’ll replace me with you in no time.”
Hoseok laughed loudly. “We could never replace you! You’re important!”
A sigh escaped Namjoon’s lips as he shifted his eyes toward the grass. “I feel like I let you guys down.”
Jimin placed a comforting hand on the back of Namjoon’s neck, giving it a firm shake. “Stop that, Hyung-nim. These things happen.” He lifted his gaze to peer at Yoongi who blinked back at him in mild surprise. “Yoongi Hyung-nim is here to pick up the slack just for today.” He turned to face Namjoon. “But you have to make up for it as soon as you’re all better, okay?”
Namjoon said nothing. He only gave a weak smile until Taehyung came barreling through, his arms draping over Jungkook and Yoongi’s necks. They both stumbled forward, grunting at how hard he threw his own body against theirs. “Practice is done, right?” Everyone mumbled something akin to ascent and he flashed his trademark boxy smile at them. “Then let’s hit the city and get a drink!”
Seokjin rolled his eyes as he folded his arms across his chest. “You haven’t even performed yet.”
“Aw, c’mon. Nothing wrong with a little pre-performance celebration, right?” Taehyung shook Jungkook and Yoongi's shoulders again for good measure. “It’ll loosen us up.”
Hoseok pouted. “You just want an excuse to drink. You’re hopeless.”
Managing to pry himself away from Taehyung, Yoongi was about to catch his breath until something fell on top of his head. Suddenly everyone else was obscured from view, save for the few slivers of light that managed to peek through the straw. Tilting his head, he craned his neck to see Jimin was now bent over, peering up at him from under the hat.
“What’s this?” Yoongi removed the hat off his head, taking note of the wide and angled brim.
“It's for when we’re walking around the city streets.” Jimin smiled. “You’re worried about running into your father while in the Capital, right?”
Eyeing the hat for a moment, Yoongi replaced the item back onto his head. It was wide and dipped low, which meant that it would perfectly conceal his face. Until he could securely cover his face with the mask during the performance at the palace, this would ensure that no one could recognize him while they were meandering through the crowds. Tilting the brim back, he flashed a small grin toward Jimin who merely laughed at how embarrassed he probably appeared.
“Thanks, Jimin-ah.”
Leaving their horses to graze in the fields, they all raced toward the Crown City gates - mentally preparing themselves for what excitement lay beyond.

Latchkey, a Tim Drake fanfic
Chapter 11: but i kept running for a soft place to fall
CONTENT WARNING: past child abuse discussion, dissociative episode
Tim doesn’t go back to his house that evening, and his parents don’t call.
He sends them a text saying he’s safe anyway.
~
Bruce almost calls child services right then and there. Jason, once he’s home from track practice that night, is on board with that plan. But Tim doesn’t want it to escalate to that, not yet, and when they realize how genuinely distressed Tim is getting over the idea Bruce agrees to wait for now.
“Despite the fact that in actuality there have been many, many strikes,” he says, “we’ll call today officially strike two.”
“Strike three and you’re out?” Tim quips with a weak smile.
“Strike three and I call my resource family support worker from CPP and inform her that we need to add someone to the official house occupancy list. And my lawyers, to start working on emergency custody paperwork.”
Tim stares.
“Shut your mouth, you’ll catch flies,” Jason says, gently tapping Tim’s nose with a finger.
Tim’s face scrunches. He will not cry. He will not cry, he’s already sobbed on Bruce once today. Tim is not a kid, he can get a grip.
“You’d—?” he starts, and cant finish the sentence.
Bruce pulls out a chair and sits in front of Tim. Alfred comes over as well, putting a hand on Bruce’s shoulder and sending Tim a soft smile.
“I told you, we’re going to make things okay.” Bruce clasps his hands, rests his elbows on his knees as he leans closer to Tim. “And I mean that, whatever it takes. You deserve to have a safe, stable home where someone is there to look out for you and have your back. If you want me to, and if it comes down to it, I’d be honored to have you come live here with us permanently.”
Tim is wrong. He will cry again.
“You—but—“ and he’s already choking up again, here he goes. “You’ve only known me for a few months,” Tim tries to protest. “And I can’t do anything for you. You’ve already done so much and I can’t pay you back for anything, and I just keep bringing you problems. And you already have a family.”
Jason yanks Tim into a hug and somewhat aggressively shoves his own beanie onto Tim’s head before putting hands on both sides of his face and squishing Tim’s cheeks like a chipmunk.
“Timbo,” Jason says. “I love you, but you are really, really dumb sometimes. You don’t have to do anything for Bruce. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he really likes taking people in like stray puppies, and if he liked me and brought me home after I hit him with a tire iron in the middle of the night, I’m pretty sure you don’t have anything to worry about here.”
“Y’r’ squish’n me,” Tim says. Jason clunks their foreheads together once before letting go.
“Master Tim,” says Alfred, finally breaking his silence. He’s kept Tim supplied with a steady stream of tea like it’s the lifeline keeping Tim afloat right now (and maybe it is, Tim wouldn’t be surprised), but has so far seemed content to let the others do the speaking.
Tim looks up at Alfred, questioning.
“Love,” says Alfred, “is not conditional. It is often effortful, sometimes painful. But it is not selfish, or bargaining like a business deal. It is not a formula of owing. Approval or tolerance are not the same as love. Do you understand? You do not need to earn—or even reciprocate, should you not wish to—any of our love for you, Master Tim. It is freely and willingly given, and not dependent on anything you can do for us.”
Tim is...so confused. He’s. He’s sure Alfred is right, because Alfred is always right. And his words match what Tim has observed of the Wayne household. But no, Tim just doesn’t understand .
He loves his parents. His parents love him. They give him what he needs, pay for his hobbies, talk with him about their work when he’s curious and even help him with homework sometimes. On good days, they have nice conversations and let Tim complain to them about his kid problems.
His mom taught him how to bake the best challah bread in the world, spending hours and hours helping him measure ingredients and learn to braid the dough. And just the other day his dad spent the morning working on Tim’s project with him. Tim behaves and makes them proud, and they tell him he’s done well and spend time with him when they’re home.
There is always the unspoken understanding that if Tim is bad, they’ll be upset with him and there would be consequences. And it’s fine, because how the world works, at home and at school and in society at large. Do something bad, face the music. Do something good, and you’re accepted. Right? There are rules for these things.
“Tim,” and it’s Bruce talking again. Carefully. Gently. “Do you love Jason?”
“Of course,” Tim answers promptly.
“Why?”
Tim stares for a moment. “What do you mean why?”
“Why do you love Jason?”
“He’s nice,” Tim says, and no, that’s too simple. “He’s good . He’s kind to everyone unless they’re being a terrible person. He’s funny. He wants to hang out with me, and he makes my days better. I like spending time with him.”
“Why do you like spending time with him?”
Tim is getting frustrated. “Because I do?”
“Why, Tim?” Bruce insists, calmly.
“Because he’s my friend! He’s enjoyable and fun and kind and good, and he’s always nice to me and nice to be with.”
“So is a Starbucks barista,” Jason says, grinning a little. “Try harder. Something makes it different, when it’s me instead of anyone else.”
“Why is he nice to be with, Tim?” Bruce prompts.
“I don’t know what you want me to say!” Tim snaps at the two of them, and then he’s bursting into tears. God . God, he knew he shouldn’t have come. He’s just hurting Bruce again. He’s acting just like his dad. And he’d yelled at his dad , earlier, too. No wonder his own father didn’t like him half the time. He can’t even control his own reactions.
This time, it’s Alfred guiding Tim up from his chair and out into the hallway, into a spare room. He puts his hands on Tim’s shoulders.
“Timothy,” Alfred says, softly. “Timothy, lad, look at me.”
Tim scrubs fiercely at his eyes with his knuckles, angry at himself for crying again, for shouting, angry at everyone and angry that he doesn’t understand why . The loss of control is miserable and he can’t seem to turn it off today. He doesn’t want to feel this. Tim doesn’t do breakdowns. What is wrong with him?
Alfred catches his fists and pulls them away from his face.
“What Master Bruce was trying to guide you to realize,” he says to Tim, “is that you love Master Jason because he is Jason. Not for his jokes, or his ongoing efforts to ensure you eat more than once a day, or his generosity and care for others. Those things are all a part of it, because they are a part of him. But you like being friends with Master Jason because he is himself . Any one person can have all those same traits you listed before. But no one else is Jason Peter Todd, and that makes him precious to you .”
Tim sniffs. “You mean, I like him just for being him, not what he does for me or brings to my life?”
“Exactly.” Alfred smiles.
And Tim gets it. He does! But it’s not the same. Jason is…
Jason is Robin, and he was chosen by Bruce, and he’s got skills and value and a warm personality, and Jason’s...well, he’s him. But Tim is different. Tim’s no one’s choice.
He’s fine, of course, and he tries to be as good a person as he can. But he’s not like Jason. People like Tim as long as he does good things. The street kids like him because he brings food and doesn’t think they’re lesser than he is, and his teachers like him because he does quality work and contributes to class discussions. His parents like him when he’s good, because then he’s being a well-behaved son they can be proud of.
The Waynes like him because—he doesn’t really know. They’re saying it’s because they just do? Because he’s him? But that’s not how it works. It’s such a nice thought, and Tim has loved the attention they’ve given him in the past few months, but it’s just not correct.
Tim hates to break it to them, but he’s not as great as they seem to think he is. He knows it’s only a matter of time until they see it, too. He tries his best to always be good, but somehow always slips up. And they’ll see that. They’ve started to already, while he’s been giving Bruce the cold shoulder lately and snapping at them in the kitchen just now.
They can only put up with Tim so many times before they get fed up with him.
The door opens. Bruce steps in and gently pushes Tim over to the edge of the bed to sit, then kneels down in front of him. Jason sits on the floor nearby, criss-cross applesauce.
“Tim,” Bruce says, like he’s speaking to a wounded animal. “I want you to tell me what’s going on in your head right now. It doesn’t matter if you think it’s stupid, okay? I want to know what’s going on in that beautiful big brain of yours. I mean that.”
Tim shakes his head. Bruce’s eyebrows furrow, ever so slightly.
“Tim, I really want to help. But I can’t if I don’t know what’s going on. Come on, buddy. What are you thinking about right now?”
“You’re going to get tired of me,” Tim blurts out. Bruce looks surprised (not as surprised as Tim feels!), but before he can say anything, Tim is talking again. It feels horrifyingly as if Tim just uncorked a shaken bottle of champagne, and everything is trying to pour out.
“You’re going to realize that I’m not worth it. You’ll just leave. You don’t want to now, but you haven’t been around long enough. I know how it works. I’m not good enough to—to make it worth people’s while. It always starts good and then falls apart.” Tim takes a shuddering breath and looks at the dresser. “You should walk away from my life while you still have the chance. I’m just going to keep letting you down all the time.”
Shit. He’s said way too much. This is why Tim doesn’t talk about feelings.
“They don’t like me,” he says, then, and oh my god, can’t he shut up?
“Who doesn’t?” Jason asks. Because Bruce is looking too stunned to say anything at the moment. Tim thinks he’s rebooting.
“My parents,” Tim says. “They love me. But I don’t think they like me all that much.”
Bruce has powered back on now, and Tim can literally see Batman Mode trying to come online in his face.
“What,” Bruce says, clipped and careful, “makes you feel like that’s the case, Tim?”
Tim opens his mouth. Closes it. He shakes his head. How do you tell someone everything but also I know they love me, they’re good people and tell me they do and I have lots of happy memories of them. How does he tell Bruce I feel like they don’t know me and they don’t want to listen when I’m talking about things when his dad got involved in his school project the other day?
How can Tim say they always leave me and it hurts when he knows that it’s their job and he’s well provided for anyway?
“Too big, Bruce,” Jason says, in a certain tone of voice. Like it’s a code between them or something. And maybe it is, because something seems to light in Bruce’s eyes.
“Let’s start simpler,” he tells Tim. “Can I ask you some questions? You can say as much or as little as you want. Jason and Dick call it the boulder method.” He smiles. “It gets easier once you talk about smaller things first.”
It can’t hurt. Tim nods.
“We’ll start out easy. Yes or no questions, all right? Just shake or nod your head if you don’t want to talk.” Bruce glances at Alfred, who slips out of the room, then back to Tim.
Jason hops up on the bed and puts an arm around Tim in solidarity, starts kicking his feet back and forth like a kid.
“Did your father hit you today, Tim?”
Tim shakes his head vehemently. No! Of course not. Does Bruce think his parents are abusive? Is that what this is about?
“Okay. That’s good. Did your mother?”
No.
“Have either of them ever hit you?”
Tim’s face twists. Not hit the way Bruce is thinking. He hasn’t been abused. It’s not like that. They’ve just slapped him a few times over the years, and spanked him when he was a kid. But it’s Batman, and Tim knows people don’t get away with half truths, so he nods and makes an eh, sorta motion with his hand that isn’t trapped next to his body by Jason.
“Can you use words to tell me what that means?” And what is he, a kindergartener? Yes, Mr. Wayne, he does know how to use his words! What the hell.
“They never hit me badly,” Tim mutters. He wants to stop with the questions. “Just a slap or two, you know. And really rarely. Only when I definitely deserved it.”
Jason’s hand tightens on his arm for a moment. Bruce’s expression doesn’t change, and Tim is grateful for it. He has so, so completely lost control of this situation. This whole day, really.
Bruce nods once. “Okay. Do your parents yell at you, when they’re home?”
A nod.
“Are there any times when you’re afraid of them?”
Tim swallows. Nods again.
“But—“ he starts, and Bruce puts a hand on his knee.
“It’s yes or no. Do you want to change your answer to a no?”
Tim hesitates.
“No, but—“
“We’re going slow, remember?” Brice asks. He looks at Tim carefully. “Why do you feel like you need to qualify this answer right now?
“I…” Tim frowns. “They’re...they’re good people. It’s not their fault.”
Bruce nods. “You think that your parents making you afraid is something people might see as wrong?”
“I’m not a kid!” Tim snaps at him, and then immediately feels terrible. He shudders in a breath, and Jason puts his head on Tim’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” Bruce tells him after a moment. He reaches out and takes Tim’s hands in his. “You’re right. You’ve proven multiple times that you’re intelligent and mature. I’m going to level with you, Tim.”
Tim straightens slightly.
“You’ve been neglected by your parents, in supervision and attention. And I also think you’ve been emotionally abused by them.”
No. Nope! They’re not doing this. This is not what Tim wanted to happen. His parents aren’t like that! They’re not evil people! They’re not trying to hurt Tim, they love him. They’re doing the best they can to parent him. And Tim isn’t always kind to them either, he yells and fights right back.
Bruce doesn’t know what he’s talking about, which is what Tim was trying to tell him earlier.
“There are a lot of signs that children who grow up in certain kinds of situations have, and despite how impressively well-adjusted you’ve trained yourself to be, Alfred and I have noticed some of them in you since we met.”
Tim shakes his head furiously, but Bruce isn’t done.
“I know them because Jason had them too. Still has some of them. And we were able to help him because we noticed.” Bruce’s thumb runs gently over the back of Tim’s free hand. “I don’t think anyone’s really tried to help you in a long time.”
Tim’s eyes are shut now. He’s breathing fast. Needs to get out and hide. There are some good hiding places in the manor. He knows them. He can make it.
“Can you tell me a couple of the things that they did that made you feel unsafe?” Bruce asks, and Tim, for whatever reason, still can’t stop talking.
“We were fighting. A couple years ago. She—my mom, and me, we were yelling, and she was mad and I was mad, and I couldn’t calm down, and I went to far, and she said she was going to leave and she did. She walked out the door. I heard her car leave.” Tim is nearly gasping for air, and Jason is rubbing firm circles on his back, making soft noises that probably would be sort of soothing if Tim had more than half a brain cell left to appreciate them. “I was afraid she wasn’t coming back.”
“Dude,” Jason says quietly. “That’s kind of really fucked up. That’s not right.”
“Today,” Tim chokes out. When did air get so hard to breathe? His hands are shaking between Bruce’s steady fingers. “When Dad was yelling, he yanked out my TV and threw it in the hallway, and he stepped on my camera lens to punish me. But he was still mad. I don’t know why he was so mad, I didn’t mean to be bad, I shouldn’t have given him attitude! I know better!”
“Timmers, breathe slow,” Jason says. His voice is getting distant.
“He locked me out,” Tim gasps. “I said I was sorry. I said I was sorry.”
This is too much. Tim doesn’t know why he’s saying all this. Bruce asked, yeah, but Tim knows better. He hasn’t been abused . It’s not nearly that bad, you know? His parents are good people. They’re not trying to hurt their own kid. They get stressed, and Tim isn’t always well-behaved, and he has to have consequences when he doesn’t behave properly. It’s normal . But now Bruce thinks he’s been abused, and so does Jason, Tim guesses, and everything is getting really, really distant now, like he’s taken two steps backwards and is just watching from outside himself. All he can feel is numb, faint curiosity. The fear and anger stayed with his body.
He’s not controlling what his body does right now, and that’s kind of scary, Tim doesn’t like that. But he’s also not feeling overwhelmed anymore. That’s not so bad.
Alfred opens the door and comes in with a mug of what’s probably more of the good tea. Tim zooms his hearing in, catches Jason talking.
“Good job Tim, you’re doing great! Nice and slow, just like that.”
Tim’s body is settled down now. Huh.
But Bruce is frowning. He’s looking intently at Tim’s face, brushing some of Tim’s dark hair back behind his ear gently.
“Tim, sweetheart?” Bruce asks. “Are you with us right now?”
“Yes,” Tim says, and it’s flat.
“Tim,” Bruce says, more insistently.
“B?” asks Jason. “Is—”
“Tim, talk to me buddy,” Bruce says firmly. He’s got his fingers on Tim’s wrist, pressing into his pulse point. Tim thinks it’s kind of silly. His body only manages a vague hum.
“Oh,” Jason says, and he sounds sad. Tim feels sorry. He doesn’t ever want to hurt Jason. He didn’t mean to make him sad, with whatever is happening right now. But this is so much better than feeling everything like before. “Tim checked out?”
“I think so,” Bruce responds, most of his attention on Tim’s face while he rubs his hands up and down Tim’s shoulders. “We pushed him too fast. It’s a lot to have to realize, if he’s been blocking out the truth to cope.”
Tim wants Bruce to keep doing that. He feels warmer. He can maybe feel some pressure on his arms.
Alfred puts the mug on the nightstand, then leans out the door and whistles down the hallway. “Ace! Come, boy.” The German shepherd pads into the room moments later, and Bruce gestures at Tim’s body.
“Ace,” he commands, ” druk.”
Ace hops up on the bed, as Bruce gently levers Tim down flat. Jason scoots away far enough to give Ace room, but puts a hand on Tim’s ankle. Ace drapes his weight across Tim’s body from left hip to right shoulder, careful and firm.
At some point, Tim starts feeling a bit more real. He’s warmer, and heavy. Like something is pulling him down. Pushing him back. As several minutes pass, Tim slowly slips closer and closer to himself, until finally he can feel not just the pressure and warmth, but Ace’s fur rubbing his skin, his soft whuffing close to Tim’s ear.
Tim blinks, breathes in, and he’s back.
“Bruce,” he says, automatically, and there, Bruce is there. Bruce is still there.
“Hey, buddy,” Bruce says, painful softness in his smile. “Glad you’re back with us.”
“Where’d I go,” Tim mumbles.
“You dissociated for a bit, pretty hardcore.” Jason’s tone is nothing but factual. He stretches out on the bed next to Tim, meets his eyes calmly. “Has that happened before?”
“Uh,” Tim says, intelligently. It feels like he’s lagging, like when he tried to play Skyrim on the six year old laptop at Ives’ old house. “Only for a second.”
“Okay. Well, it sucks. It doesn’t happen to me anymore, but I remember. I’m sorry.”
“S’okay,” Tim says, and wow, he’s tired. Not sleepy tired. Just...existence tired. His brain doesn’t want to work. He’s like...mushy grapes. Yeah. Still edible, but like, sad and squishy. Wait. Tim doesn’t want his brain to be edible. No zombies.
“Tim,” Bruce says gently. “I want you to stay here for at least the night, okay? I know you love your parents. And I believe you, that they aren’t meaning to hurt you or be bad. All right? No one is saying your parents are evil.”
“Okay,” Tim says.
“But people can love you and not intend to do anything wrong, and still hurt you. That doesn’t make them bad people. But it is still doing a lot of damage, regardless of intent. That’s what I think is happening to you.”
“Okay.”
“I’m going to talk with my lawyers and your parents, about doing kinship care,” Bruce says. He’s going slow. Tim appreciates it, since his brain is definitely not all there right now. “We can settle that out of court, if your parents cooperate, and if I’m listed as a family friend you’re comfortable living with, you can stay with me as your legal caretaker indefinitely. Like Dick did. Long-term foster care. Or, if you want it, we could see if your parents would do a full adoption process out of court. But you don’t need to worry about that right now, Tim. Do you trust me?”
“Of course,” Tim says. He’s a little offended Bruce even asked.
“Then trust me when I say that all you need to worry about is settling in here and feeling whatever you need to feel. I’ve got the legal matters covered, okay? And if your parents decide they want to take it to family court, I’m going to fight for you every step of the way. No worrying about logistics.”
“Mkay,” Tim says. Jason’s fingers are drawing heavenly circles through Tim’s hair, and Ace is squashing Tim like the world’s best blanket, and Alfred’s tea is smells sweet and warm nearby, and he’s got nothing left. He’s wrung out like a ratty old dish rag.
Tim closes his eyes as Bruce presses a kiss to his forehead.
“You’re not alone, Tim,” Bruce says softly. “I’m not going to let anyone hurt you while you’re part of this family. I’ve got you.”
“I know,” Tim mumbles. “Y’r Batman.” As if that settles everything. And then he’s out like a light, completely missing the shock that hits everyone like a bolt of lighting.
~
Bruce blinks down at Tim. Stares at Jason for a moment. Looks back down to Tim. “Did he just say Batman?”
“He did, Master Bruce,” Alfred says calmly. A little too calmly.
“He knew? And Alfred...”
Jason shrugs at Bruce.
Bruce turns to frown at Alfred. “You knew? How long have you known he knew?”
“Master Bruce. I might remind you that while Thomas and Martha were your parents, I am the one who raised you through the majority of your formative years, and much of your early reconnaissance training. It is my entire job to know everything that goes on in this manor.”
“But…”
Jason laughs at Bruce. “He’s Alfie,” he says, as if that explains everything.
Alfred finally takes pity on Bruce. “Master Timothy never spoke with me about any of it,” he explains. “But I knew about his sneaking out, and I have been an avid follower of BatWatch for years. Many of his speech patterns carry over. It was not difficult to put one and one together and make two.”
“Only you, Alfred,” says Bruce, running a hand down his face. “Only you.”
~
Tim wakes up the next morning to golden sunlight and fingers carding gently through his hair. He opens his eyes to see Dick near the edge of the bed, his head propped on one arm. Dick smiles, genuine and wide and unconditional.
“Dick?” Tim croaks. He hopes Alfred has more of that tea today, because Tim is definitely feeling the punishment of a crying dehydration headache.
“Hey, Timbit,” Dick whispers. He smooths Tim’s hair back again, fingers so gentle on Tim’s forehead. Slowly rubs out the gathering wrinkles there. “Heard you had a bad day, huh?”
Tim hates how quickly his eyes well up.
“Oh, baby,” Dick says, and then he’s scooting Tim over and clambering under the blanket with him like they’re kids or something. He wraps Tim up in a hug and shushes him gently while he cries for what feels like the millionth time in recent history.
Jason cracks the door open, then pads softly across the carpet and climbs up to sandwich Tim in on his other side. He starts reading Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy off his phone while Tim settles back down.
“I love you so much, Tim, you know that right?” Jason asks after a while.
“That’s sappy.” Tim pokes Jason in the ribs from the safety of his cocoon in Dick’s arms.
“I’ll be as sappy as I want, I don’t give a shit,” Jason fires back. He pokes Tim between the eyes, then rolls over onto his back again. “I love you. Damn.”
“Me too, Tim,” Dick murmurs, half asleep.
“I,” Tim starts. Clears his throat. “I love you guys too. You’re the best.”
Tim lies there, between the two brothers, in the morning sunlight, and thinks, if things had to go wrong, at least they’re going partly right too.
The situation? It sucks. Royally. But right now, this? This...is pretty nice. Tim is going to let himself enjoy it for a moment, while it lasts.

Chapter Two
The rest of the car ride was filled with innocuous chatter on Bonnie's end. She kept everything light, as if she feared the talk of magic and witches had summoned the crow. Most of it was gossip based. Since I knew of none of these people, I kept my responses monosyllabic when I wasn't nodding.
It wasn't far to the school from what I'd mentally dubbed as 'downtown' Mystic Falls. Less than five minutes, max. Bonnie's Prius joined a mix of cars that looked older to my eyes, but the show had started years ago. For the teens themselves, they had to be nice. I knew there was supposed to be a poorer side of town, but I wasn't seeing much evidence of it in the Mystic Falls High School parking lot.
I grabbed my bag from the backseat and met Bonnie's smile with a less than enthused one of my own. Her brows lifted. "First day of junior year."
"Yeah."
She pocketed her keys before pushing her door open. "Wonder how many committees Caroline's already signed up for."
Bonnie's droll delivery startled a laugh from me as I followed her out. Well. A soft chuckle, really. But it was genuine. "All of them?"
"Please. She's probably started a few new ones." Bonnie shook her head as she paused at the trunk and pushed it open. Her own bag appeared in her hand a moment later. She closed the trunk before slinging it over her shoulder. "And you know she's going to rope us into each and every one."
"Yep." I fell into step beside her as she continued on the topic of Caroline and her obsession with planning committees. A lot of 'remember whens' occupied her side of the conversation as we matriculated with the growing tide of students. I again smiled and nodded, but kept my sights sweeping out across the Mystic Falls High School grounds.
I noticed a lot of curious glances tossed our way, along with a few smiles and the occasional wave that Bonnie—and belatedly me—returned.
Right. Elena had been that girl before her parent's were killed and she descended into vampire drama. My hand tightened on my bag's strap. I was not that girl. I was a girl. I blended. The prototypical wallflower. Which I liked.
Before I knew it, my eyes were sketching the seams between the sidewalk, Elena's long hair sliding past my shoulders and hiding my—her—face. I tried to remind myself to keep my head up. That would be more in character. But whenever I'd catch another person looking, and then turn to talk—ugh. Sidewalk it was.
Bonnie didn't seem to notice. Or, more like, care. She carried on the conversation as if she kept up one-sided chats with her quiet friend all the time. It was probably a more recent development, though. What had Elena been writing about at the start of the series? Convincing everyone she was fine? Which meant she hadn't been doing a good job of it prior to the start of the series.
I wondered how often Bonnie had to shoulder the bulk of their friendship since Elena's accident. Hell, going by how often she'd done it on the show, way too much.
The impromptu consideration of Bonnie and Elena's friendship, and how one-sided it had seemed, occupied me all the way into the main building. It wasn't until my feet struck tile instead of concrete, and I caught a heavy glass and metal door before it could hit my face, that I zoned back into my surroundings.
From the loud cacophony of teenage voices, the banging of lockers, the squeak of sneakers on linoleum—it felt like being thrust back in time. I kept close to Bonnie as the river of students parted around her. And me, I suppose. "Where—"
"Gym." Her brows canted. "For our schedules?"
"Oh." I fixed my sights ahead. "Right. Like last year."
"Mhm. So, Ashley was driving Caroline insane. Like, she just could not get the landing. Care being Care starts to think that, maybe, she's doing it on purpose. To sabotage her chance at getting captain, you know? Which is crazy talk. Which I told her."
The trials and travails of Caroline and Bonnie at Cheerleading camp continued all the way down an absurdly long hall. We weren't the only ones. Seemed like the whole school was headed in the same direction.
Eventually we all flowed into what could only have been the prototypical high school gymnasium. Big open room with a tall ceiling and a basketball court painted onto the floor. The bleachers were folded up, pressed against the wall into a giant wooden jigsaw puzzle. Several tables had been set up under one of the basketball hoops, each seating a couple of staff members. Long paper signs were taped behind them, each one proclaiming a year and a part of the alphabet. Lines of students were stretched out in front of them.
I looked for year eleven and almost hunted for S before remembering it was supposed to be G. Unfortunately, this was where Bonnie and I would have to part. The G's were mixed in with the F's.
"Meet you at the doors?" Bonnie offered as we both wandered towards our respective tables.
"Okay." She could probably hear the relief in my voice.
We parted at the lines and I stepped up behind a tall red headed boy dressed in a polo shirt and khakis.
I fiddled with my bag strap, waiting for the line to move, when there was a slight commotion further up the line. A blonde head of hair appeared around the side, and a familiar face from my television screen lit up. "Elena! Hey!"
Holy shit. Caroline.
I couldn't help but smile back, the blonde's enthusiastic grin was so infectious. "Hi," I called, though not very loud and immediately glancing to the side to see if anyone noticed.
Of course they had. Caroline wasn't head of the cheerleading squad for nothing.
A flick of her head sent her immaculate blonde curls over a shoulder before she waved me towards her. "What are you doing?" she laughed. "Come here!"
Another glance around me revealed considerably colder looks than before. I swallowed before aiming a far thinner, close-lipped smile back. "Don't want to cut in line."
Caroline rolled her eyes. "No one cares." She aimed the most potent Bitch Look I'd ever seen at the girl behind her. "Do you care if my friend stands next to me?"
The girl, skinny and pale with a bad case of acne—which gave me an instant connection of deep empathy with her—startled. She quickly shook her head. "No."
"See?" Caroline returned, dismissing her existence. She motioned for me to join her again. "Get over here, Elena!" That tone would brook no argument.
I glanced around me, uncertain, before sidling out of place and nervously moving up. I was careful not to look at the faces of the students I passed.
Caroline pulled me into a hug the moment I was within arm's reach. "Oh my god!" she squealed. "I can't believe it. Feels like forever!" She pushed me back before I could do anything but be shifted about like a rag doll. "How are you doing? You okay?"
There was something kind of… performative about the sympathy. Then I remembered that season one Caroline was still a slave to her insecurities. The most major of which being Elena Gilbert. Great. "I'm fine."
She gave me a pursed lip look of disbelief. "Really?"
I drew in a breath and adjusted the strap of my bag, which was now threatening to fall down my arm from all the jostling. "Yep."
She gifted me another big, bright, beauty queen smile. "Great!" Her voice went slightly lower—though that wasn't saying much. "Have you seen Matt yet?"
"No."
"Wait till you do. He's so obviously pining."
Okay. Not sure what to say to that, I nodded.
"I hear he's been like that all summer."
More gossip. Great. "Oh."
"Yep." Caroline seemed disappointed I wasn't more into this tidbit of information. But, never one to admit defeat, she rebounded with another smile. It looked forced. "We missed you at cheer camp."
"Bonnie was just telling me about it."
Caroline's smile wavered. "She was?" She blinked. "What about it?"
Crap. I searched through the dazed haze that covered my mind throughout the fog of madness that had been the entirety of my day so far. "Ashley? Sabotaging you?"
Caroline's eyes narrowed to slits, her arms crossed, and she leaned into her hip. "Either that, or she's completely incompetent. I have no idea how she got on the squad in the first place." She glanced off to the side in thought. "Maybe it was a pity thing."
"Pity thing?"
"Yeah. Because of the divorce." Her voice screamed, 'duh.' She scoffed. "As if that's so special. My mom and dad divorced. You don't see me fumbling every landing." A frightening sort of intensity lit up her face. "I actually practice so I don't look like an idiot."
"Practice is good," seemed like something neutral to respond with.
"Which is why I'm concerned about you, Elena," Caroline's transformation from wrathful bitch to anxious friend happened so quick, I got whiplash. "You missed so much." She gave another doleful put. "I'm worried."
Yeah. She ought to be. Running was one thing, and I enjoyed cardio. Jumping and spinning and being all 'Rah Rah!' though? Nope. Not happening. But didn't Elena quit cheerleading? In fact, wasn't this conversation supposed to happen with Damon around? And didn't Elena meet Caroline back at school for the first time at the lockers?
While the questions settled uncomfortably in the back of my mind, the student in front of Caroline finished. "We'll talk more later," Caroline promised. At my nod, she gave a final smile and turned around, striding up to the table with more confidence then I think I've ever experienced in the entirety of my life.
I mulled over the differences between what I remembered and what had just happened until Caroline finished receiving her schedule. She gave a rippling finger wave to me as she strode off to the doors. I smiled back. Already my cheeks were starting to smart from all the faux grins I was pulling this morning.
Stepping up to the table, I discovered all I had to do was give Elena's name and they were rifling through a stack of papers. I had my hands on her class list and a padlock for a locker before I could give much thought to the change I'd already wrought. So I'd run into Caroline early and had a minor conversation about cheerleading? What did it matter?
I returned to the doors and leaned against the wall as I waited for Bonnie to get her schedule. By the time she joined me, another ten minutes had gone by. Apparently our first period class wasn't going to do much in the way of work. Which was good, since it was Trig.
Nothing like math first thing in the morning.
On the positive side of things, Bonnie was in the same class. As we compared schedules, we walked side by side through the halls and searched for our lockers. Bonnie spotted hers first and dropped off her bag. Mine was next, not that far from Bonnie's, but I chose to keep my bag with me. Call me weird, but I liked having something capable of carrying all my crap around with me.
Task complete, we were on our way to our first class when Bonnie grabbed my arm, forcing me to stop beside her. "Hold up. Who's this?"
Bonnie stared down the hall through a set of open doors into what looked like some administrative room. I doubted she meant the woman seated behind the desk, flipping through a folder of papers. More like the tall guy in the leather jacket standing in front of it. Broad shouldered. Wide stance. Brown hair. Sunglasses…
I squeezed the strap at my shoulder, hard enough that the stiff leather bent with a creak. "No idea," I lied.
"Too bad." Bonnie's ran an appraising eye from top to bottom. "He's hot."
And with his enhanced senses, he'd heard that. Uncomfortable, I watched as Stefan took off his sunglasses. The shades dangled from his fingers as he stared down into the administrator's eyes. Still as stone, she stared back several seconds before starting to move again.
Compulsion. He'd compelled her. Mind control was an actual thing that happens here. That man was an actual vampire. And not just any vampire, but a Ripper. The hair on my arms rose.
Oblivious, Bonnie added, "I'm sensing Seattle, and he plays the guitar."
She mustn't be witchy enough yet to pick up on his—aura, I suppose. If I remembered right, she'd have to touch Stefan before she felt anything off. "Not really into the grunge thing, myself," I muttered. And while vampires were fun to read and watch on the screen, standing a few feet away from one... Well. Ironically, my heart was starting to pound.
Bonnie grinned. "You're doubting me."
"Never." I mustered a wan smile.
"Jeremy, good batch, man."
The off-hand remark from a voice behind us that I didn't recognize, shouting a line that I sort of did, drew my attention. Searching over my shoulder, I found Jeremy. Apparently, he hadn't lied about the ride. He grinned somewhere into the crowd before ducking into the boy's bathroom. Frowning, I turned back around.
Right. Elena had followed her brother into the bathroom and chastised him. Tried to talk sense into him. It didn't work, because of course it wouldn't. But it was as she'd left the bathroom that she'd run straight into Stefan for the first time. Spoke to him.
Alone.
Yeah. No. That wasn't going to happen.
Bonnie was still studying Stefan's back. "Please be hot."
I shifted my bag further up my shoulder before glancing around at the other students still walking the hall. "Shouldn't we get to class?"
"In a sec."
Standing in front of a random doorway, staring at Stefan, waiting for him to turn around? Not weird at all. But I could hardly leave Bonnie. Not to mention I didn't know the way. So there I stood, awkward as hell, as the rest of the students streamed around us like we were rocks slicing apart the currents of some rushing river. "Isn't this kind of creepy?"
"Shh."
I pressed my lips together with a single, short nod. Right then. Creeping on the new guy it was.
Fortunately, it wasn't too much longer before he finished and turned around. He had his head tilted down, hooking his sunglasses to his collar. Of course, Bonnie had already started drawing in a startled breath. Even though I knew what he'd look like, that he was basically a supernatural predator, I was tempted to join her. He raised his head, putting the chiseled splendor of his face on display for all to see. Stefan Salvatore was a sigh-worthy sight to behold in person. Especially when those brooding eyes landed on me, widening slightly as his thick but perfectly groomed brows lifted.
His stare stayed pointed at me—or Elena—as he strode by. Going so far as to turn his head slightly as he passed us to keep me in his sights. I caught a hint of expensive cologne as Stefan came near enough that our sleeves almost brushed. The surreality of the moment almost sent me floating off into some mini version of astral projection. But all my nerves had woke up at his passing, anchoring me to my borrowed body as it tingled all the way to my toes. I did manage not to spin completely around, like Bonnie did, as he moved further down the hall. It was a near thing.
"Oh. My. God." Bonnie rounded back. "Worth it."
I swallowed. Why couldn't he look like a monster? "Class?"
She snapped her sights to me and stared as if I were crazy. "Your dedication to academics over ridiculously cute boys is inspiring, Elena." She shook her head. "But also? Kind of sad."
"Yeah." I shrugged, adjusting my bag's strap again. "So?"
Bonnie rolled her eyes but smiled. "If we must." Her arm threaded through mine and she tugged me back into the flow of students. "Let's go."
My mind stayed stuck on Stefan Salvatore as I followed Bonnie to the classroom, and well into the start. So did Bonnie's, if her sighs and constant wondering about the 'new hottie' was anything to go by. Unlike Bonnie, I wasn't just musing over his insanely good looks. Not entirely. I was only human, and holy shit Stefan was a beautiful monster. But he was a monster. He wasn't an early Damon, Katherine, or Klaus, but he wasn't innocent, either. There was as wall with a list of names in Chicago. Not to mention the asshole he became after Klaus got his claws into his head.
And I was stuck in the body of the girl who looked exactly like the woman who'd turned him. Worse, the Amara to his Silas. Fan-freaking-tastic.
I tried to put my mind off it. I felt pretty de-whammied by the time our introduction to Trig was over.
So of course, there he was in my next class. English.
I scurried in because it'd taken forever for me to find without Bonnie backup. He was already seated near the back—next to a very pleased Caroline. He watched me hurry towards the only vacant seat left at the very front. To be fair, everyone watched me rush in and interrupt the teacher.
I swallowed as I sat down, kept my eyes staring straight ahead at the chalkboard.
I could hear him, though. Well, I heard Caroline mostly. Hard not to. Occasionally there would be that mellow voice answering. God, how did a person sound gorgeous? It wasn't fair. Serial killer wall. Eater of bunnies. Ripper of people.
Of course, reminding myself of all his gruesome deeds wasn't exactly helping me to keep calm, either. I was a mess however I chose to look at it. Either I was another girl drooling over his stupid perfectness, or I was terrified he was going to snap and eat the whole class—though that last was foolish of me. I knew he wasn't that bad. At least, he wasn't on the show. He wouldn't be now. 'Course not.
Maybe if there had been anything interesting going on in the class I would've had an easier time keeping my mind off the vampire seated in the back. But all that happened was a lecture on the syllabus and class expectations and blah blah. The most exciting thing was when the books were passed out. I'd always enjoyed any subject having to do with reading, in high school or college. But the problem with high school lit classes is the list doesn't change. A glance and I knew I'd be re-reading a lot of 'classics,' only a few of which I liked.
Great. Stuck in this world, and with a boring stack of books to boot.
I raced out of class as soon as it was over, letting Caroline manipulate all of Stefan's attention. Also, I didn't want a repeat of being the last one in again. This time I stopped someone in the hall and asked where my next class was. After dropping my books off at my locker, which was on the way, I managed to make it to Biology with minutes to spare.
Unfortunately it was a class I shared with Tyler Lockwood.
He was never a favorite of mine on the show. From my first impression in real life, he was even more of a jerk. The entire time he talked and laughed, even blew spitballs at one of his teammates. The poor teacher didn't do anything but smile and nervously laugh along. Being a star football player and the son of the Mayor, I guess no one besides vampire hunter Ric Saltzman was interested in disciplining the kid.
I was thoroughly annoyed by the end of the class and could tell it was going to be a regular occurrence if this weird—situation—didn't end anytime soon. On the plus side, I wasn't alternatively daydreaming and fretting over Stefan Salvatore while I was fuming about Tyler Lockwood.
It wasn't until fourth period that I met up with Bonnie again in History.
I was so relieved to be sitting beside her, listening to how her classes had gone so far, that I didn't pay much attention as the other kids trickled in and sat down.
Not even when a somewhat familiar voice said, "Hey, Elena."
Bonnie's eyes widened, chin jerking towards the space behind me. Blinking, I remembered Elena was now me and swung about. Matt Donavan hovered near my desk, a strained smile on his face. "Matt. Hi."
"Been a while." He spun a pencil around his fingers. "How was your summer?"
Seeing as he thought he was talking to Elena, I had no idea. Bad, if I had to guess. Given her parents had just died. Still, I summoned another smile. It was getting easier. Ironically, it seemed I was as stuck playing the 'I'm just fine and dandy,' game as she'd been on the show. "Fine. Yours?"
"Alright." He shrugged and glanced down before lifting his sights back up to me. He obviously had something on his mind. I waited. "You still on for the Grill tonight?" When my brows scrunched together, he was quick to add, "Y'know. Everyone's usual meetup after the first day back."
"Yeah. 'Course. Wouldn't want to mess with tradition." That'd draw attention. Something I was trying very hard not to do.
His smile turned more genuine. "Cool." He cleared his throat and nodded. I nodded back, smile growing strained as I held it for a longer beat than the usual. He seemed to decide to just leave then, moving back to sit behind Bonnie. The two shared their own hellos.
Drama. I blew out a breath, slipping further down the hard back of my chair, wondering if the day could possibly get more awkward. The universe chose to answer by having Stefan Salvatore stride into the class at that moment. Naturally, like the earth pulled by the inevitable gravitation of the freaking sun, his gaze flew right to me.
I straightened back up, trying to smooth away any traces of annoyance. Just like the hallway, his stare stayed rooted to mine. I had no idea how he managed to find an empty desk, given he kept staring at me rather than looking for a place to sit. Maybe some sort of vampire sense, like listening for heartbeats or pulsating necks.
I hardly had room to judge. Even after the class started, I watched him too. I did try to keep it to don't-mind-me-just-bored-and-gazing-around-the-room peeks. Hard to do, given his gaze was constantly directed my way. But I couldn't help but look for some sign of—inhumanness. Apart from being a shade or two paler from the rest of the class, nothing stood out.
No, that wasn't true. He stood out, alright. But as far as creepy vibes? Nothing. If one could manage the herculean task of setting aside his amazing looks, he seemed normal. Apart from constantly staring at me, anyway. That was definitely off. Or, rather, the real me. I suppose someone as gorgeous as Elena wouldn't be surprised by the attention. Not that I'd never been on the receiving end myself, but not by anyone who looked like a freaking model.
Just to hammer in the point of how obvious he was being, my phone vibrated. Checking that the teacher wasn't watching, I flipped the older style case open to find a text message from Bonnie.
HAWT-E STARING U
Yeah, thanks. I'd have to be blind not to notice. Or focused on the lesson. Which, for once in an academic setting, I wasn't. Right now, I couldn't give a damn about history. Another first.
Thankfully, the class was the same welcome back here's your syllabus do your homework etcetera that the rest had been. Bonnie caught up to me after the bell signaled the end of our torture. She shared a look of girlish conspiracy as we walked out ahead of Stefan. "The whole time," she said quietly.
"Noticed."
Bonnie grinned. "Lucky."
The insane urge to burst into tearful laughter swept through me. I held it back with a non-committal hum. "Lunch?"
"Lunch."
The rest of the day was Stefan free. I don't know where he went to eat. The woods that seemed to creep around every few blocks in this town? Caroline joined Bonnie and I at the table. A few other girls, Madison and Sarah, along with a guy named Aaron, sat with us too. Which surprised me. But when I thought about it, it made sense. Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline could hardly have only each other as friends. They were just the closest and what the show must've chosen to focus on.
I couldn't get much of an impression of the other three. I gathered the girls were cheerleaders and Aaron was on the team with the other guys. I did pick up that he and Madison were a thing, which explained why he was sitting with us rather than over with Tyler's wolf pack.
Either way, I was able to sit back and let the rest of the table control the conversation. They seemed fine letting me stay quiet, joking back and forth and listening to Caroline's plans for the upcoming festival. Which I was roped into—flyer duty. I didn't fight. Some fates are simply inevitable.
The rest of my classes were a rotation of the various other characters, but no Stefan. By the time the end of the school day had crept around, I was left loading my books into my bag, a light load of assigned reading to do for tomorrow but not a lot else.
Bonnie was back, leaning up against the neighboring locker. "Sorry I can't give you a ride to the cemetery."
I paused. What? Why the hell would I—
Oh, right. Grieving girl. "It's fine." Well, hell. No way was I going to the cemetery. I could find my way back to Elena's house. Sure.
I struggled to remember where all the turns Bonnie had taken were. Main street, as I'd come to think of it as, would be easy enough to get to. I could find my way from there. Probably.
I hoped I didn't look as freaked out as I felt as I smiled at Bonnie. This must've been one of those things the two girls had arranged before. "Thanks for taking me this morning."
Bonnie gave me a look that said, 'don't even,' "'Course." She gave me a one-armed hug before straightening back up. "Say hi to your mom and dad for me."
"I will." Nope. Not going to happen because you couldn't pay me to go to a cemetery with vampires lurking around every corner. Mostly because that's where Elena first 'encounters' Damon. And runs into Stefan. While bleeding.
Yeah. No. Nope.
Bonnie and I separated with waves and promises to meet up later tonight at the Grill. I was curious where she was off to but didn't know a way to ask without making it clear I didn't already know. I had a feeling it was one of those things Elena shouldn't need to ask.
Instead, I hitched my bag up and set off for the 'main street' of Mystic Falls. If I could get to the corner where Damon had scared the crap out of us, I figured I could find my way back. After all, I knew where he and Stefan were going to be. Exactly where I wasn't.
No freaky fog or bloody knees for this girl!
Fortunately, it was a nice day out, and Mystic Falls was a beautiful town—when it wasn't being overrun with supernatural creatures. There was a ton of greenery around, even in the paved business district. Granted, it was mostly maintained greenery, but it was still lovely. Especially with the woods never further than a stone's throw away.
I found the main road easily enough. Learned it was Washington Street. Following it, I found it led right to City Hall and the infamous clock tower. The park that had been featured on quite a few early episodes was only a few blocks down. And then, there was the Grill. Its green banner flapped in the afternoon breeze. I stood for a few moments to just—soak in the wonder. I'd actually be visiting later tonight.
Of course, since I wasn't going to the cemetery, that meant I wouldn't lose Elena's journal. Stefan wouldn't have a reason to stop by. Which means he wouldn't know about the gathering and have no reason to go. That was good.
It was.
Frustrated that I didn't feel like it was entirely good, I huffed at myself and sped up, no longer so enamored with the kitschy little town. But the longer I walked, the more I wondered if I'd missed the turn Bonnie had taken.
By the time the shops were behind me with houses sprouting up to either side of the street and the ever-present woods on the horizon, I wondered if I should just go back. Visit one of the stores and ask for directions. Wasn't everybody supposed to know everybody in a town like this? 'Course, if anyone should know the way to the Gilbert's house, it would probably be someone who'd lived there her whole life. Be odd to ask. Wasn't sure if I wanted rumors of Elena spacing out or acting weird getting around.
Blowing out an annoyed breath, I pulled the phone from my pocket. A vague notion that I might find someone to give me a ride. With the occasional glance up to make sure I didn't stray off the sidewalk, I navigated my way to the contact list. Most of the names were unfamiliar. Bonnie's was the first I recognized, but obviously couldn't call. I had nearly made it through the 'E's, wondering how on earth this girl had so many numbers—just my luck to Quantum Leap into an extroverted popular cheerleader—when a, "CAW!" startled me.
I spun around, sights sweeping around the street. Perched on a nearby streetlamp was the crow from this morning. Or so I assumed. I suppose it could've been an entirely different crow but—c'mon. What were the chances? It cocked its head at me, beady eye gleaming, before it cawed again.
My heart sped up, gut clenching in dismay. Damon. What was he doing here? He was supposed to be waiting at the cemetery! I know I remembered that part of the pilot. I looked around, wondering if I'd wandered near the graveyard by accident, but there wasn't a headstone anywhere nearby. Another insistent, "CAW!" demanded my attention. Giving in, I found the damn bird watching me.
Damon—if it was Damon, and I had no reason to believe it wasn't—had to be stalking me. Elena. Whoever.
And Stefan was probably lingering around the cemetery, right where he was supposed to be.
I swallowed. Like Stefan, Damon was the real-world equivalent of a serial killer. Unlike Stefan, at the start of the series, he didn't give a damn if Elena lived or died. Nor did he share Stefan's diet that only threatened small woodland creatures. Damon reveled in his violent nature, gave in to his murderous whims. A temperamental thrill seeker who had no fear of getting caught.
I turned, noticed how thin the traffic was. I'd managed to get far enough from the business district that I'd past the last of the shops a block back. Another, "CAW!" made me jump. I drew in a breath, lips falling into a frown, before I doubled back for the shopping center behind me.
He wouldn't attack me in broad daylight, in front of a store full of people. Right?
I hurried down the sidewalk, the crow's relentless caws chasing me the whole way. It felt as if I could feel someone's stare crawling over my skin. My heart rate skyrocketed and my blood pounded in my ears. It had to make for a siren song to the vampire watching me.
A loud flutter of wings beside me had me looking down towards a bench anchored to the sidewalk. The crow had perched on an armrest and cawed up at me. I turned away, fixing my gaze back to the approaching stores.
I sped up to a near sprint and rushed into the first shop I saw.
Once I was safely past the door, I spun to peer back through it's glass display. Heart still hammering, I pressed my hand to my chest, willing it to slow down as I searched for the bird stalking me. And fuck my life for making that a thing I had to worry about now. Finding nothing outside, I gulped down a breath and stepped back around.
Hands grabbed my arms. I gasped as I found myself staring up into pale blue eyes, freezing me in place. The corners of those eyes crinkled as Damon Salvatore grinned down at me. "Whoa." He let go, holding his hands up with palms out as if to prove he was harmless. I knew better and stepped back.
How? I'd just been at the door! I'd been staring through its damn window!
I risked taking my eyes off his long enough for my gaze to dart around the rest of the store. Antiques. Lots of places to hide but... No, there. Another door at the back of the shop, drifting shut.
It had to be over a hundred feet away!
I refused to believe that it was possible anyone could move so fast. Weirdly, it was easier to accept the man could control a bird than flash across the store in the blink of an eye.
My sights snapped back on him, watching every move he made. As if I'd ever get enough warning. Futile or not, I couldn't help it. It was if some primal instinct was in control. And right now, it was screaming danger!
His head tilted, eerily reminiscent of the bird he'd been puppeting. His bangs were long—and messy—enough that a bit fell over his eye. His handsome face fixed into a mien of nonchalance that didn't quite quench the excited sparkle in eyes. Like sunlight reflecting of a frozen lake, it was almost blinding staring directly into them. All of him was as picture perfect as a winter landscape, and yet, as remote. Cold and barren.
The sensation of wrongness I'd sought earlier in Stefan I found in Damon. In spades. I felt it right in my gut, where it squirmed like a tangled ball of worms. Made me itch to find an exit. Get away. Even as he asked, "You okay?"
I wasn't alone. The shop keeper, an older man, stood behind the counter. Unaware of the danger, he sent me a polite smile before turning back to the computer sitting beside the register. The rest of the place was a claustrophobic nightmare. Display tables packed narrowly together, covered in every kind of knick-knack imaginable. It'd be a mess to try and run through. Despair threatened to squeeze the air from my lungs. He was the only other human in the place. That wasn't going to stop a vampire who could compel him to forget. Or kill us both before we even knew what was happening.
Heart thumping so hard I was surprised my ribs weren't rattling, I summoned the steadiest smile I was able to and nodded. "Yeah. Just," a drew a breath through my nose, "startled. Should have been paying attention." Like that would've helped.
The bastard's mouth curled into a playful smile. "Sorry." He didn't sound it. At all. His tall legs brought him a step closer. Fully in the center of his attention, I couldn't help feel like a mouse under the bobbing head of a snake. "You ran in here so fast, I thought you were in trouble."
I squeezed the strap on my book bag, holding the smile on my face before shaking my head. "No." I lied. "It's—I'm fine. Really."
Damon leaned to the side, pleasure slipping into those animated eyes. Too animated. Like he was exaggerating his expressions. "That's a relief." He smiled as he took another step, putting him within arm's reach. "Pretty little thing like you," the curve of his lips turned thin and wicked before he added, "I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something…bad…happened."
Knowing what I did about him, I couldn't help but hear an implied threat. The corners of my already brittle smile tried to slide right down. I willed them to stay up, though it probably came off as a tad bit rictus.
He didn't seem to notice. Or, more likely, care. "I'm Damon, by the way." He held out a hand.
I didn't want to take it. Would it set him off if I didn't? Make him suspicious that I knew more than I should about him? But the moment was stretching towards too long. My mind gave off an inner scream I slipped my hand into his. He had to have noticed my palm was clammy as it met his. He didn't seem bothered by it. On the contrary, his eyes darkened.
Bothered by the implications, I focused on the softness of his skin. I'd expected him to be colder. Stiff like my grandmother's hand had been when I'd tried curling mine over it as I'd stood by her coffin. Damon's felt very alive. The muscles and bones all shifted as he gave a gentle squeeze, the borrowed blood in his veins warming his skin. "Elena."
"Elena. Hm." His eyes narrowed. "Sure you're okay, Elena?"
"Yeah." I made to pull my hand back, relieved when he didn't try to hold on. "I, um. I saw a bird." His brows flew up. I inwardly cursed him to hell. Since magic existed here, I hoped it'd work. Recalling a line from the show, I said, "It was very Hitchcock."
"A girl who can make a classic horror reference. Nice." Seeing how well known The Birds and Hitchcock were, I didn't think it was all that impressive. I couldn't decide if he was trying to flatter me, or if his opinion of teenagers—of humans in general—was that low. "If you're worried, I'd be happy to walk you home." He leaned closer, and it took everything in me not to draw away. His voice lowered as if he meant to share a secret. "I make a great scarecrow."
Oh hell no. "That's... really nice of you to offer." My bag's strap let out a tortured creak as my hand flew to it and squeezed. "But, I'm—waiting. For my aunt. She's picking me up soon."
"Mm." His smile stretched a little wider before he looked straight into my eyes and said, "But she's running late, isn't she? It'll be a while before she gets here."
I blinked, glancing around towards the window as I realized, "Jenna's probably running late, though. I don't know when she'll get here." Especially as she had no idea where I was. Or that I'd need her to pick me up.
Damon smiled. Soon as our eyes met, he was speaking again with that same intense stare, "You want me to walk you home."
Given all the dangerous things lurking around Mystic Falls, who better to keep away the monsters than a psycho vampire that had already killed several people since coming to town? "I want you to walk me home." Wait, that didn't seem right. After a moment, I added, "If you don't mind." There. Shouldn't assume things. That would be rude.
Damon's answering grin was all sunshine. Cold, wintry sunshine. "Of course not." He swept out an arm in an old fashioned, gentlemanly gesture. "After you, Miss Gilbert."
Had I told him that? No. Damon must've been stalking Elena well before this morning. He'd know where she lived, then! I smiled at him before leading him through the door.
