Hello, good morning mate!
So, I don't know if request are open in the moment, you can ignore this request if it's closed :'D
A Bakugou x reader, reader is sick as hell but go training with bakugou anyway, until they almost pass out. Make the reader stubborn as hell! And most importantly have fun ^^
Sorry for my bad english, I'm too lazy to use the translate
Katsuki gets mad when you push yourself too hard.
700 words
Your head pounded and your body ached, but you pulled on your hero costume regardless. The illness crept up slowly through the day but was now hitting you hard.
Your head was hot and your knees weak, yet you intended to meet with Katsuki to spar. You both had made these plans earlier in the week. He was going to help you with some of your defensive moves and you couldn't pass up the training.
You had been looking forward to it all day, and being that Katsuki was one of the top heroes in your class you were excited to learn from him.
The thought crossed your mind to reschedule with him but then you imagined the taunts he'd give you. Putting you down for letting a simple cold get the best of you. The way he'd scold you for not being stronger, and question what you would do as a pro. Pros couldn't just let a cold stop them and not taking on a villain right?
You slowly made your way over to the gym to meet Katsuki for training, feeling worse and worse with each passing moment.
"You look like crap," Katsuki said at the first sight of you.
"Hi to you too," you said back sarcastically.
"You feeling alright?" He asked.
"I'm fine," you lied hoping he wouldn't question you any further.
"We can do this another time if you need to rest," he suggested.
"I said I'm fine, just teach me what you've been talking about all week," you responded back shortly.
Katsuki clicked his tongue at your attitude, "Fine if you are so eager, attack me and I'll show you," he instructed.
Katsuki watched as you made a sad attempt at attacking him. Your attack was half the speed it usually was, and your flushed cheeks gave away how sick you must have been feeling.
Barley needing to use his quirk Katsuki easily dodged, "The hell? You're definitely not feeling well. Let's go back to the dorms," he urged.
"No! I was just getting warmed up. Let me try again," you said stubbornly.
Katsuki rolled his eyes, "Fine, go ahead," he agreed.
You came at him again but then time he easily stepped to the side, leading you to crash down on the floor from the momentum.
"Dumb ass, "he huffed out, quickly extending his arm to help you up. You grabbed his hand, and he pulled you up. "I'm not training with you like this. You're obviously sick."
"I can handle it!" You yelled back.
"Didn't ask you if you could handle it. I said I'm not doing it," he said sternly. "We're going back to the dorms and you're getting rest. How the hell are you supposed to be a pro hero if you can't even take care of yourself?" He said harshly.
You felt your eyes sting at his harsh words. You came to train despite being sick because you didn't want him to think you couldn't be a pro for letting a cold get to you, but here he was telling you the opposite. You needed to recognize your own needs first.
Katsuki's eyes widened at the growing tears in your eyes, "Cut that shit out!" He barked, secretly feeling bad for his outburst.
You ran your hand across your face, wiping off the tears. "I thought you'd give me shit for canceling on you for being sick," you said honestly.
"Hah!? Course not! You're not at your best when you're sick and I only want to spar with you when you're giving me everything you got." He spoke.
You sniffed back tears composing yourself and nodded at his words.
"Besides you can't be a hero and fight for others if you don't look after yourself first... Let's go back to the dorms. I'll make you something to eat and we can try this again next week," he declared.
"Thank Bakugo" you spoke softly.
"You can thank me by taking better care of yourself. Come on, let's get you some rest," he said motioning for you to walk with him back to the dorms.
Thank you for the request, I hope you enjoy!

Glad to see that you are back!
Now, Can I have headcanons for The League with a very short (4’9) s/o?… Who’s also very petite in build, (like very skinny and has thin arms and legs?)
Headcanon: The League of Villains with a Petite S/O
Shigaraki
Shigaraki has a bit of a playful streak when it comes to your size. He’ll often call you “little thing” or “tiny” and make fun of how much shorter you are than him. He enjoys seeing your reactions, especially if you get all flustered about it.
Though he hides it behind his rough exterior, Shigaraki is surprisingly protective of you. He may not outwardly express concern, but if you’re ever in danger, he’s the first to react, often dragging you out of harm’s way.
When you’re feeling tired or when he's being particularly lazy, Shigaraki loves to scoop you up without a second thought. Your size makes it easy for him to hold you against his chest, and he enjoys the closeness.
Shigaraki’s chaotic personality means he’s always looking out for you, even if in his own detached, lazy way. You’re like a quiet anchor for him in all the madness.
Kurogiri
Kurogiri is very mindful of how delicate you are. He’s careful when he interacts with you, always making sure not to overwhelm you. He might even adjust the pace of his movements when you’re with him.
When you’re exhausted, Kurogiri will often surround you with his mist-like fog and lift you gently, making sure you’re comfortable while you rest. He’ll use his portals to transport you safely or to get you away from danger without you even having to ask.
His calm demeanor might make it seem like he’s indifferent, but deep down, he’s protective. He’ll make sure you’re always safe, often keeping a watchful eye on you when you’re in public.
While not overtly affectionate, Kurogiri does enjoy subtle gestures, like offering his arm when walking with you or giving you a small, reassuring smile when he’s proud of you.
Dabi
Dabi loves teasing you about your size, calling you "adorable" or "small fry," but there’s an underlying possessiveness. He doesn’t like seeing anyone else make you feel insecure about your height or frame.
Dabi is the type to want you curled up in his lap or in his arms. He finds comfort in having you close to him and enjoys the fact that your small size makes it easy for him to wrap his arms around you.
While he’s not the type to show his concern outright, Dabi is deeply protective of you. If anyone dares to challenge you or make fun of your size, he’s quick to step in, throwing a fiery glare in their direction.
He might not be big on grand gestures, but he’ll surprise you with little gifts or just a rare soft side when you’re around. He enjoys making sure you're comfortable in his presence.
Twice
Twice absolutely adores how small and cute you are. He’ll often scoop you up in excitement, sometimes holding you above his head just to show off how tiny you are compared to him.
He gets easily worried about you, always fearing that you might get hurt because of your small stature. If he sees you look even slightly upset, he’ll try to fix it immediately by doting on you or taking you away from any danger.
Twice can’t stop showering you with compliments about how cute you are. He might even do silly things like pretend to be your bodyguard or superhero to protect you from anything he deems "threatening."
He’s super touchy, always holding your hand, hugging you, or snuggling up to you. He loves that you’re so small that he can envelop you in his arms.
Toga
Toga thinks you’re so cute, she’s practically obsessed with how small and delicate you are. She’ll constantly want to dress you up in cute outfits and ask to try out different hairstyles on you.
She loves picking you up and holding you like you’re her own personal doll. She’ll twirl you around or carry you around like it’s the most natural thing in the world, loving the way you fit perfectly in her arms.
Toga gets a bit possessive when it comes to you. If someone else gets too close, she might act out or even challenge them with her usual chaotic energy. She wants you all to herself, and she’ll make sure you know it.
Toga is always getting you little things she finds cute or "perfect" for you, whether it’s a new outfit, a small accessory, or even something a little weird (but cute to her), like a stuffed animal.
Mr. Compress
Mr. Compress is very considerate about your size. He always makes sure you’re comfortable and tries to keep you safe, even in dangerous situations. He’s the type to offer his arm to guide you or pull you into a more protected space if things get chaotic.
He’s the kind of person to surprise you with a thoughtful gesture—like showing up with a small gift or offering to make you a drink. He enjoys the more refined, gentle side of relationships.
He might hold your hand or lightly rest a hand on your shoulder when speaking to you, a gentle touch that shows his care without being overwhelming.
He’ll occasionally tease you about being so small, but he always follows it up with something affectionate, like calling you "his little gem" or "delicate treasure."
Spinner
Spinner finds your small size fascinating. He admires how you're able to hold your own despite being so small, and it makes him want to protect you even more.
While he tries to maintain a tough exterior, his soft side comes out around you. He’s always checking in to make sure you’re okay, even if you don’t think you need help.
He’s not as touchy as some of the others, but Spinner enjoys offering his jacket if it’s cold or placing a hand on your back to guide you when moving through crowds or dangerous areas.
Spinner enjoys helping you with things, whether it’s carrying something for you or just offering his assistance. He’s the type to want to be of use, especially when it comes to looking out for you.

katsuki x male reader hcs
Yeah because yeah. Just yeah. I said I’d do them because yeah, so yeah :)
You being a male doesn’t really difference him he prob never thought of relationships in the first place
he didn’t even remember his classmate’s names at first
so he didn’t expect to come to UA and find a boyfriend at all
His only goal was to become the no. 1 hero
and still is
but now he has you to get to the top with him :)
and yes he will force and push you to do your best because he cares for you and wants you at the top next to him
no matter how lazy you are you’d best get up before he drags you
he prioritizes himself, always
but that doesn’t mean he cares about nothing else!
if someone says smth negative about your relationship……actualIy I highly doubt they’d say smth to his face 😂
this is a world where clock app and powers exist. I doubt people care about what sexuality you are
but for that one jerk that does-
your gonna have to physically stop kats from pummeling them
only joking
but seriously he’ll chew them out about it
it mostly consistent of (empty, but they don’t know that) threats and “mind your own business (calls out feature of theirs that look strange)”
THAT SHOULDN’T BE FUNNY BUT IT KINDA IS
anyway anyway
the “Baku squad” (it’s so strange to say now but let’s roll with it👌) is on your side
mina will also chew them out
denki is recording-
so is sero
kirishima is the one who gets Katsuki to finally walk away
and I mean he has to physically pull him
But outside of that the “baku squad” is very supportive and teasing towards you two
they mostly tease Kats, not you, because
they know he’ll get annoyed
they have to do it then run tho because he threats to blow them up
everytime-
sero and denki are the main victims of this
sometimes kiri joins in
mina mostly records- LOL
your either not there and Mina shows you the video (you tell her to send it to you so you can make fun of him forever)
or your there laughing in the background
if your friends with izuku it ticks him off
he doesn’t want you talking to his competition lol
it’s not him being possessive or anything he doesn’t care who you talk to
it’s just that the topic of izuku in general gets on his nerves
but that’s in like season 1-3 ish
by season 4 and up he’s pretty cool with it or whatever because now he just sees izuku as a person he has to exceed
not a insult punching bag
training together is……there needs to be a new word for brutality because that is NOT enough
seriously he’s not easing up for a second
if you don’t watch your back your getting FRIED
LOLLL
you switch between what training grounds you go to and he always chooses 🤦♀️
you have to have like a million water breaks because you always get so tired from how he relentlessly attacks you
no matter what approach you take 8.5 times out of 10 he wins
unless your on izuku, Todoroki, tokoyami level
or if your intelligent enough to outsmart him (bro you gotta get creative because don’t think for one second he’s too stupid to catch on)
at this point always assume he knows your plan/next move
because 70% of the time? He does.
it doesn’t matter what your quirk is or what you can physically do (as far as fighting and flexibility) you train in every aspect
so like rescue, fighting, timed bomb, etc
and yes you do get scolded by him
if your better than him tho!
He loves you and your his boyfriend butttt…
he low key sees you as competition too..
😅🤷♀️
he’s proud of you and confident in your abilities
he’ll even rely on you to go separate ways to defeat villains
but he still need to surpass you bro..
he’s not settling for 2nd place just because he loves you 😬🤷♀️
cooking together is fun if your good at it !!
otherwise…..
if your skilled in cooking you have your portion and he has his that he needs to cook
whoever finishes first does the plating
he likes cooking with you cuz you know what your doing
he doesn’t have to yell instructions
but if you don’t know..
yeah like I just said he’s yelling instructions
i sincerely hope you don’t burn the food
he’s kicking you out the kitchen 😐
your permanently banned💗 (you and denki twinning- joking!!)
spicy foods is definitely a thing
like 80% of his dishes have spice
so I sure hope you like that
otherwise I hope you can cook because you making your own meals
I mean he can make some without spice for you
but don’t bug him too much (asking for too many things like “oh and peppers, oh and onion, oh and garlic oh and-“)
studying together is like him studying with kirishima but 0.20% gentler
btw
if you have a messy dorm he scolds you and refuses to go in your dorm until you clean it
he’s germaphobic so he acts like your entire room is diseased 😀
if he can’t convince you to clean it he’ll get in there one day and do it himself
only if he has free time
and only because he can’t stand the thought that those germs exist
it bothers him even if he never sets foot in there🧍♀️
like seriously he gets the creepy crawlies just knowing they exist
He’s for sure not letting you in his dorm
if that’s the way you leave your own dorm….what’ll you’ll do to his??
how you present yourself shows who you are
so if he sees that when you first start dating??
yeah he’s going to reconsider dating you
if your relationship were to get serious he’d have to live with that !!
ain’t no way
he’d rather find out now and either nip it in the bun or end it😬🥲
if you keep your dorm clean he’s way more likely to go in there with you
to like chill you feel me?
him texting you/how he texts :3
”wya”
”we need more spices for dinner can you pick up some”
”where’s dofus he left my dorm disgusting.” (dofus is denki)
“What movie are we watching” (it’s time for movie night—it was a surprise)
”I’m going to the store do you need anything?”
”text me the grocery list”
”I told you to stop asking me for homework answers. If you’d do it yourself you wouldn’t fail your tests.”
“tell weird hair to answer my text”
”meet me at _____” (either a surprise date or to train, depends on location)
”do you want some ____” — “are your sure because I’m not giving you any if you ask for mine” — “I got you your own don’t ask me for nothing”
he texts really straight forward
also, a period at the end means he’s mad 👍
he uses abbreviations when needed but prefers to type it out because he’s not lazy
Lol-
These were fun!! Enjoy!!

Capítulo 2 & 3
- Mafin rewatch (Sueños de Libertad)
Watching the de la Reina siblings is a hoot. It's all so deliciously dysfunctional. Damian's three porcelain dolls, all dressed up and filled with generational trauma. How could that not be fun to watch?! I enjoy that Marta is the action oriented one of them. The boys bicker, but she refuses to play their game, instead tries for a solution and an action forward. It’s notable that both brothers turn to her as if her agreement, her word actually holds sway. They’re already making a point of this being a man’s world, but these men, even if it’s a means to play out each other, hang on her word and give it weight.
I’m kind of sad Jesús is such a right villain, because I enjoy him and Marta together. They play off each other well and you instantly get the nuances between them, making it super easy to envision how things were before Andrés return. The way they’ve kept that business afloat, probably stood side by side against their father on a number of occasions. I feel like they’ve kept each other alert, maybe a bit too guarded, but also with a sense of mutual respect despite all of the other muddled feelings of jealousy and resentment and old-fashioned sibling rivalry. In a world where Jesús wasn't such an evil man I think this could have been one of my favourite relationships on the show, if they'd taken the time to develop it more. Especially in the way she yields to him in the beginning and how her character growth comes into play later on.
Carmen is the boss you want to have before she’s even anyone’s boss. The way she is straightforward and stands up to Marta for her own and her fellow workers sake and safety. I wish she was my workplace Union rep. She’s such a competent lady and I'd gladly line up behind. But why throw fucking caveman Tasio around her neck like a noose I’ll never understand. Though I’m getting ahead of myself, or ahead of the show at least.
I mean seriously, what’s up with that opening credit?! Of all the characters, they get a two shot. In bed. The two of them who at this point in time have nothing to tie them together. A flimsy string of connection through fathers, through work. I wasn’t here from the start, but I assume they were shipped from day one? Granted by my arguing maybe Gaspar and Tasio should be shipped too, but at least those two aren't in bed together. And no, don't enlighten me if there are people who do ship them. Some things I'd rather go through life without knowing. This would be one of those.
Lol, Luz is so no-nonsense as she saves Damian's life. “Stop praying and let me stab him with a giant needle, you rich fools!”. Her and Begona sharing the medical field and a bit of empathy with each other is nice too. An ensemble cast that is balanced between men and women seldom leave room for a lot of female friendship, but this one does. I appreciate that.
Fina establishing from the very beginning what she thinks of men, and especially the fool ones like Carmen's deadbeat boyfriend. I feel you. And I am in love with the way she throughout all the episodes to date will be used as a way of voicing what the tired lesbian feminist in all of us wishes she could say, out loud.
If trolls exist, you know like proper giant ones, the kind that can be mistaken for a mountain, covered in moss and trees and then suddenly just opens its eyes and stands up to stretch. You know the kind of trolls you think of when listening to Grieg's In the Mountain King's Hall - yeah those. I imagine if they existed then they'd sound exactly like a sickly Don Damian, like a melodic stone avalanche. That said I’ve never envision mountain trolls to sound Spanish before now. But maybe that’s on me.
Joaquín is a bit of an ass, calling Fina (and the rest of them) lazy - my eyes are narrowed. It wasn’t actually something he developed when he got on my shitlist by flirting with the secretary while having a cute as a button wife or pointing a gun at Marta. Apparently the assery was a pre-existing condition. It’s interesting though that Luis is the one talking about taking over the company, yet he still comes off as the decent one of them.
“You don’t notice the boys?”- Petra, you blonde little snake, don’t call my Fina out like that. Maybe we're allowed to know she's a lesbian, but don't flaunt it in front of the entire canteen like that. It’s kind of funny though how Fina is so clear about Luis not being her type, yet there are so many common denominators between him and Marta both in personality and in physicality (except of course the most important one in this case, their sex).
I know he’s supposed to be one of the good guys, but honestly, Andrés is a bit of a douchebag, isn’t he?! Or maybe that's a bit harsh, but he comes across as pretty smarmy. He's like what the wall behind your stove would be if anthropomorphised, kind of greasy, kind of sticky and in constant need of being hosed down. But yay for not letting the roof drop on your employees, I guess.

Gotham's Newest...hero?
A fanfiction about the newest member in the Bat Family! Luciana Soto has had a...strange life, but it takes a turn for the worst when villains attack her school, Gotham University, and things just spiral from there.
This fic is for fun, it will avoid the "adopted by Batman" trope (sorry), and it does center on a queer women of color! Characters that will get plenty of attention (because of my personal bias) are Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain, but you will see most other Bat Family members and even guest DC characters in certain moments.
This is not a crack/joke story, or a short fic, it is a full blown story with a big character arc, a unique villain, and more!
Enjoy~!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: I took a bullet for a clown
(4654 words)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So where will you go for the summer?”
“Hm? I’m sorry, what?” Luciana asked, her gaze returning to her best friend, Stephanie Brown. Stephanie was a pretty girl, with white skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. She was wearing her signature purple hoodie. Today was their lazy day. The one time a week neither had classes and both forced themselves to put homework on hold. Simply to hang out.
“Oh, I’m going to stay here and take two summer classes,” Luciana said easily, taking a bite of her food. The restaurant they were in was attached to Gotham University, their school, and eating on the outside patio together made this Luciana’s favorite spot.
“Again?” Stephanie asked, raising an eyebrow. “Don’t you want to see your family?”
“Oh, they understand it,” Luciana replied dismissively. “I’m the first in my family to go to college! The faster I graduate, the faster I can make actual money, and the faster I can help them.”
Luciana was an American-Colombian girl, a child of immigrants. Stephanie had heard the story a million times: How they had trekked from Colombia to Mexico with nothing, waited nearly a year to be allowed in, and then worked odd jobs to pay for the travel to New Jersey. Luciana herself had been born only a few months after they had entered the country, by luck not design, and had put her family on the path to citizenship.
“Sure, but are you even enjoying college? You’re here for free, Luz, on a scholarship! Don’t you think you should…relax a little?”
Perhaps it was unfair but Luciana always got annoyed when Stephanie pointed this out. It had always felt like a privileged idea to the Latina. Choosing play over her studies. She couldn’t afford to do that. Not when her family was counting on her success. Not after every day they had endured to get her here. But that wasn’t Stephanie’s fault, and in truth Luciana knew her friend was right and wasn’t just being privileged or ignorant. She really cared and Luciana really was a bit obsessed with her studies.
“I’m relaxing. Right now. With you,” Luciana said with an annoyed voice. “Besides, I have no friends back home, and you live here in Gotham.”
“Fine!” Stephanie said, slamming a hand down on the table. “Then as your friend here, I will ensure this is the BEST! SUMMER! EVER! Even with your classes going on.”
“Oh gods…please don’t,” Luciana groaned, hiding her face in her hands. Stephanie had always been free-spirited, humorous, and adventurous—the opposite of the naive, dutiful, workaholic Luciana.
“Oh come on! We could do so many things. You can drive, right? We could go to the beach, the boardwalk, Cape May, the theater, the movies-” Stephanie kept rattling off a list of wonderfully distracting activities for the summer, still standing in front of the table as she babbled off. Luciana couldn't help but sigh, her eyes softening as she watched her friend get excited.
Then Luciana heard an explosion. She only had a moment to think What? Before the shockwave sent her, Stephanie, and the other people eating around them to the ground. Glass broke. Tables flipped. Food fell on top of innocent students. People began screaming all around them. Luciana’s heart was racing as she looked up, first seeing that Stephanie was on the ground but alright, and then looking around. Next to the restaurant was a grass-covered quad, and across the quad, there was a new, large, smoking hole. A van began to drive off the street and across the grass, sending panicked students running in all directions. It was covered with pink and green graffiti, with faces drawn on the sides, and random words like “hi!” and “Robber Mobile!” painted on too.
“Everybody out! Down the street!” Luciana yelled, just as men and women with guns and white masks began climbing out. She pushed herself up and grabbed the girl beside her, easily lifting her. “Go down the street! Call the cops! Don’t stop!”
Then she grabbed the next. And the next. Others started to recover from the blast themselves, some running away down the street as well, many simply looked around in shock, and more watched the criminals pull out the van and walk into the building across from them.
“Come on! GET UP! DOWN THE STREET!” Luciana yelled over the chaos, her voice clear and firm. More students seemed to come out of their daze. Finally, as the patio appeared empty, Luciana turned to Stephanie. “We need to-”
Her heart leaped out of her chest. Stephanie was gone. So was her stuff. The criminals were across the quad and in another building, not threatening them. But it seemed Stephanie had just run. Without grabbing Luciana or even making sure she was ok. The Latina felt a lump form in her throat, but gunshots rang out and brought her back to the present. She hit the deck and covered her head, looking up for the culprits. More gunshots rang out from the building the criminals had entered. Too far to threaten Luciana but surely there were more students there.
“Fuck…” Luciana muttered. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!”
Luciana stood up and dashed inside the restaurant and towards the school. Her adrenaline was skyrocketing, her jaw clenched, and she was more afraid than she'd ever felt before. She made her way through the halls, looking to evacuate any students or (gods forbid) any wounded. As she sprinted out of the restaurant she first noticed the alarms weren’t on, so she pulled the closest fire alarm she could find. The ringing began to sound out through the building. Not just this one but any attached buildings as well. The food court, the sciences building, and the engineering department. They’d all start heading outside if they hadn’t already.
“Help!”
Without a second thought, the young woman was on the run again. She went down a hallway and towards the voice calling for help. She was quick to spot the victim- A black girl younger than her sitting among the glass of a broken window. She had small bleeding cuts over her and a nasty bruise.
“Hey, I’m here! It’s ok, come on,” Luciana started. “I got you, si? Vamos.”
“I- I can’t- I-”
Luciana had never seen someone go into shock but she assumed this must be it. At least it was similar to what she had seen in movies. Without hesitation or talk she closed the distance, her tactical boots crunching on the glass, and lifted the girl. She grunted but the girl was skinny and, thankfully, Luciana had always been strong. She carried her a few feet away and set her down away from the glass, looking over her.
“Hey, it’s ok. I’m gonna help you, yeah? And then you’ll be safe,” Luciana said in a soft and reassuring voice, gently looking over the girl, pulling her arms out to see if they were injured, and looking over at her back.
“H-H-Harley Quinn,” she sobbed, her face a mess of tears. “They- they shot into the roof. They-”
“Did she say where she was going?” The Latina asked, ripping off a piece of her white linen button-up and tying it around a particularly nasty gash on the girl's arm. She knew she had to keep a level head. The girl would stay calm and anything she learned she could tell the police.
“The Applied Physics Lab,” the poor girl said, watching as Luciana tied a knot with the fabric from her shirt.
“Ok, cool,” Luciana said. Her major didn’t require her to go to that lab. She had no clue what a supervillain could want with it. “Well, if someone like Harley Quinn is here, we need to go.” She offered the injured girl a hand, standing up. “Yeah?”
The girl watched Luciana for a few moments, who smiled reassuringly, and then slowly took her savior's hand. Luciana was quick to pull her up and guide her by the shoulder, walking briskly towards the restaurant and the outside. The girl she was helping still seemed in shock and not all there as Luciana kept a vigilant eye out, checking every corner and constantly behind them. When they turned a corner, nearly at the restaurant, that’s when both girls heard a gruff voice.
“Stop!” A woman ordered. Luciana heard a distinctive Click! of a gun’s safety going off. “Don’t move!”
“It’s ok, it’s ok,” Luciana reassured. The girl she was helping froze completely, eyes wide with fear. “Just follow my lead, si? Come on.”
“Turn around slowly,” the voice ordered. Luciana nodded, still guiding her rescue by the shoulder until both of them had turned to face one of the criminals attacking the school. A woman dressed in all black, with a white mask, and an AR-15. She was flanked by two men sporting the same gear.
“Seriously, there’s only these two?” One of the men asked.
“Taking hostages was an afterthought- She didn’t think there’d be a safe to crack,” the other sighed.
“Zip it, both of you,” the woman said, giving her new hostages a nod. “Alright, we don’t want to hurt anyone else. You listen to what we say and everyone will be fine. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” Luciana answered for both of them, but the student she was helping began to panic. Her breath was quickening and she swallowed hard. Her eyes looked around as if she was getting ready to bolt. Luciana squeezed her shoulder in warning.
“Alright, they’re going to approach you and cuff you. Don’t fucking move,” the woman warned. She then gave her partners a nod.
The two men began to approach. They let their rifles hang off their shoulders as they both took out handcuffs. One approaching Luciana and one approaching the other girl. Then things started going wrong.
“Wait!” Luciana yelled, feeling the student she was holding move.
The girl ran. The woman aimed her rifle, ready to fire. One man seemed ready to grab the student and the other was still about to grab Luciana. The Latina moved as if time had slowed down, as if she could react at a higher speed, although everything only took a few moments. She grabbed the man about to cuff her by the balls and throat, surprising him greatly, and as he made a choking sound she pushed him into the woman. She cursed and raised her rifle, firing at the roof as both of them fell to the ground. The third criminal grabbed Luciana from behind, forgetting the escaping student when he heard his partners struggling, and Luciana screamed angrily as she felt her arms get pinned to her sides. She made a loud growl, almost like an animal, and slammed her foot into his. He cried out in pain as she pushed back with all her weight and knocked them both to the floor.
“Fucking grab her, there’s no one else!” The woman ordered.
“Get the fuck away from me!” Luciana yelled back, pulling one arm free from his loosened grip. She punched him in the face once, twice, three times and he finally let go.
“Don’t shoot her!” The woman ordered again, stopping the man next to her who had raised his rifle. That was a mistake. Clued into the fact they’d no longer shoot Luciana did the most logical thing: She ran.
Sprinting had never been her forte. She had loved cross country. She loved tests of endurance. But at this moment, filled with adrenaline and panic, she may as well have been the Flash. She thought of nothing but pushing her legs to move faster and faster, arms swinging tightly beside her, tight breaths forcing their way out of her lungs. She quickly began to outpace the slower criminals, her shirt flapping in the wind. Luciana ignored any corners and turns, focused solely on going as far as she could without stopping. She passed a sign that said “Applied Physics Lab.”
Wait, wasn’t that where the criminals had gone? Was Luciana’s last thought before a wooden bat appeared from around the corner and swung full force. She didn’t even have the time to cry out before it hit her, stopping her dead in her tracks and knocking her flat on her back. Pain exploded in her head and her vision went dark, white spots dancing in the void.
“I knew you guys were useless!” An oddly cheery female voice said, with a Brooklyn accent. A hand grabbed Luciana by the hair, forcing her to sit up. The student cried out in pain, blinking her eyes repeatedly. “I heard you shooting and came to check it out. Didn’t I tell you not to kill these poor kids?”
“One of them ran,” the woman’s voice answered as she caught up, panting from the chase and leaning on her knees. Luciana heard the footsteps of the men catching up after her. “I reacted. But no one got shot! It’s all good.”
“Ugh…” Luciana groaned, her vision slowly coming back. She could hardly think with the throbbing in her head. She blinked again to see the blurry version of Harley Quinn. Pale skin, blond hair tied into two pigtails, the tips of one dyed pink and the other blue. She was wearing boots, knee high socks, shorts, a tiny top, and fingerless gloves. All of it was red and black but coordinated so the color jumped from side to side in a spotted color scheme.
“Oh, you’re ok,” Harley Quinn chided. “I might not be the physical kind of doctor but I promise it’s just a concussion. Now, I need ya, but if you’re good I’ll make sure to give you to the police. Deal?”
“Maldito puta de mierda,” Luciana muttered quietly, weakly grabbing Harley’s wrist with both her hands and vainly attempting to tug her off. The hit had completely sent her body out of whack. It was like punching someone in a dream and having no strength at all, or being a flimsy marionette.Frustrating. Weak. And feeling not in control.
“I’m gonna take whatever that was as a yes!” Harley cheered. “You two: Grab her. Don’t let her run off again. The safe will be open soon.”
“If the safe’s not gonna take awhile then why did we need a hostage at all?” One of the men asked as both of them grabbed Luciana. The woman pulled her arms back and cuffed them together.
“It’s called insurance, duh,” Harley replied, walking away.
The three thugs, with Luciana cuffed and in tow, followed Harley deeper into the Applied Physics Lab. She groaned loudly, her head hanging and her feet dragging, as they took her. They went all the way to the end of the hallway where another two lackeys were kneeling in front of a wall. Luciana looked up as the group stopped walking, seeing the two were working on a safe. Or, seeing a blurry image of two figures curled over a piece of wall.
“What’s in there anyways boss? It’s gotta be worth a lot of money to raid this place in broad daylight, with all the kids,” one of the men asked.
“Do I pay you to talk or get the job done?” Harley asked, tapping her foot impatiently as the lock of the safe was slowly fiddled with.
She’s hiding something, a small voice in the back of Luciana’s head said. She’s hiding something.
“Harley…Quinn…” Luciana groaned, each word making her head pound.
“Hm? You’re still awake? Gosh, you’ve gotta feel terrible!” Harley said with a grin. Luciana frowned as she watched. Her words were humorous, cruel even, but her face…it held the tiniest bit of concern.
“Why don’t you tell them the truth?” Luciana said through gritted teeth, each word was a battle.
“Excuse me?” Harley asked, immediately narrowing her eyes in annoyance. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, come on, deflecting from the guy’s question? Tell them what’s in the safe.”
The two men working on the safe did not stop, but one did look over his shoulder. The other three watched Harley carefully. Luciana had realized they had not been briefed on Harley’s prize.
“Well? What are we risking so much for?” The woman, who Luciana had pegged as the ring leader by now, insisted. “You promised this score would get us paid.”
“Oh shut up! What would this brat know about anything? You’re gonna get cold feet with me because she’s running her mouth?” Harley demanded. She leaned back, crossing her arms and giving her hired help a judgemental look. But Luciana could hear the tension in her voice. She saw how Harley was still gripping her bat.
“You know, word on the street is you’ve gone soft,” the armed woman said. “And I thought it was weird when you worried about hurting the kids here. No sneaking around. Letting most of them get away.” She pulled out a pistol and held it against Luciana’s head. “What’s in the fucking safe? Tell me, and we’ll keep going like nothin’ happened.”
“Hey!” Harley barked, her frown replaced with an angry look. “I’m paying you good money. Don’t do that to her.”
Shit, shit, shit, shit! Luciana thought, her wide and panicked eyes meeting Harley’s. She had intended to cause issues for Harley, if she could, in an attempt to at least buy time. But she hadn’t meant to risk herself further.
“Then tell us what’s in the goddamned safe,” the thug insisted. She clicked the safety off and Luciana’s heart skipped a beat. This lady did not care. She’d shoot her. Kill her in cold blood.
“Ugh…well, you’ve done it now kid,” Harley said, giving Luciana a pitiful look. She sighed. “Fine, fine, I’ll tell you.”
Before Harley could reveal the truth a loud Thunk! reverberated through the floor. Everyone turned to the two lockpickers to see they had opened the safe. The large metal door had fallen to the ground, cracking it. One of the lockpickers reached in.
“Hey! I told you I’d grab it!” Harley complained.
“What is it?!” The woman yelled to her partner, still holding the gun to Luciana’s head.
Before anyone could speak another word someone else joined the fray. Luciana caught from the periphery of her vision a flash of purple. The woman’s gun was hit out of her hand, clattering to the floor and away from Luciana’s head. Before Luciana could turn her head a series of grunts and blows could be heard. She managed to catch the woman who had threatened her collapsing onto the ground, unconscious.
“So, you guys want to let the girl go? Or do you all want some of this?” Spoiler asked, her voice full of confidence. Luciana tilted her head, as confused as everyone else by her sudden appearance.
She was wearing a skintight black bodysuit with a purple bat logo plastered to the chest. Purple boots, belts, gloves, and armor on the torso decorated her. Blonde hair spilled out from underneath the purple hood and sharp blue eyes took in the situation. The vigilante’s eyes met Luciana’s for a moment, her concern clear as day, and then she tensed.
“Get the bat!” Harley yelled at her goons, grinning widely as Spoiler sprung into action.
Luciana fell to the floor as Spoiler punched one of the men holding her, the other letting go to raise his rifle at the hero. This time she didn’t try to meddle or help. Luciana held her hands over her head as gunshots rang out, and the quieter sounds of melee combat followed. A second body thudded to the ground next to Luciana. Her head was still pounding from Harley’s blow and she couldn’t even think about getting to her feet. Of running. Instead, she finally looked up.
Spoiler was left facing the two lockpickers, armed with rifles and knives, as well as Harley Quinn herself. The lockpickers had been smart enough to keep their distance, waiting for a shot and bagging whatever was in the safe, while the women fought in a deadly dance. Spoiler was aggressive and unrelenting, with no order to her blows. She punched, kicked, spun, and threw random objects as they appeared in her sight. Harley was just as unpredictable, giggling and smiling as she nimbly dodged the hero’s attacks, or simply deflected them with her bat.
They’re not serious, the voice in the back of Luciana’s head said.
What?
Luciana narrowed her eyes, watching as Harley glanced at the two lockpickers. Spoiler threw another punch but hesitated for a fraction of a second. Almost intentionally. The villain took advantage to grab her wrist, spinning her into the wall between the other two thugs harshly. Luciana flinched.
See?
Luciana watched as Spoiler quickly recovered from the blow, beginning to fight the last two hugs. She was making short work of them. Harley chuckled and leaned down, grabbing the bag with the contents of the safe, which had been dropped. It was almost like that was rehearsed. Like they were…helping each other? It made no sense to Luciana. None at all.
“No you don’t,” the woman, who had been knocked out earlier, said. Luciana looked to the left to see that thug get on her knees, hands scrambling to pick up her pistol. Spoiler was still finishing the other two thugs. Harley was walking away with her back turned. The woman picked up her weapon and in a split second Luciana reacted.
Bang!
What happened next became very unclear for Luciana. She heard Spoiler scream in anguish and found herself held in Harley’s arms. Her hands, on instinct, were clutching the new gunshot wound in her gut, pressing down weakly as if to stem the blood. Her vision blurred and her head was still pounding from earlier. Thinking became a nearly impossible task.
“Luciana!” Spoiler yelled. Luciana found some small part of her mind wondering how the hero knew her name, but she couldn’t focus on that question. Spoiler’s hands clutched Luciana’s, pressing down painfully on the wound. “You’re going to be alright. You hear me? Hey?”
“Bats? We need a pick up now,” Harley said, tapping a communicator in her ear.
They were working together. The realization gave Luciana great satisfaction. The voice in her head had been right. The way Spoiler and Harley’s fight had aroused her suspicion, how perfectly it had been working out for them both, Harley’s reluctance to admit what was in the safe, or to hurt anyone. She had been working with Spoiler. Luciana chuckled softly, groaning in pain.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey” Spoiler said, her voice impossibly soft. She cupped Luciana’s cheek in one hand. Blood stained it. “Don’t laugh. Don’t move. And don’t sleep, ok? Just stay calm. We’re going to get you out of her.”
“I knew Harley wasn’t bad,” Luciana said softly, her mind dizzy. All she could feel was herself slipping away, and that one bit of pride. If she had to get shot for someone at least it hadn’t been a super villain. Not really.
The world seemed to fade to black. When Luciana regained consciousness she was in a car that was driving way too fast. Someone was sitting right behind her, holding Luciana securely in their arms, and red stained bandages were wrapped around the wounded girl’s torso.
“What?” Luciana asked softly, her head rising from its slumped position.
“Hey, are you still with us? Stay awake,” Spoiler’s voice said. She was the one holding Luciana upright in this car. “We’re going to get you help. We’re almost there.” She sounded anxious. Deathly afraid, even.
“Don’t feel bad,” Luciana pleaded. “This isn’t your fault.”
“No, Luci, don’t talk like that,” Spoiler said. “Shut up. You’re going to be fine.”
“It’s not your fault-”
Spoiler took a bottle of water; A large, black, metal one and poured it over Luciana’s head. Suddenly, the world became clearer. She could hear, see, and think better. She could feel her pain more. Luciana gasped and blinked several times, looking around the vehicle. She felt one arm hold her firmly as the other held the bottle to her lips.
“Drink,” Spoiler ordered. Luciana didn’t think twice as she grasped the bottle and desperately downed the rest of it, ignoring the droplets that spilled down her chin. She was just so thirsty. It almost felt like a lifeline- Keeping her aware.
“Where are we going?!” Luciana asked, panicked. “I- Ugh!” The pain from her concussion (thank you, Harley) returned in full force as she moved. Spoiler pulled Luci back against her.
“Someplace safe, ok? You don’t have to worry,” she promised. “We stemmed the bleeding. A doctor is going to fix you up. One we trust.”
“Wait, are you talking about, like, stitches?” Luciana asked, swallowing hard. “Or is the bullet still in me?”
“...”
“Is the bullet still in me or-”
“Yes, yes it is!” She replied quickly, a familiar tone of annoyance present in her reply. “But it’s ok, we’ve got you. Just keep calm and breathe.”
That familiar tone began to bother Luciana. She tried to look over her shoulder but her gut filled with pain, forcing her to look ahead. She looked down to see blood had leaked and stained her jeans and boots before she got bandaged. A lot of blood. She began to feel woozy at the sight. The effect of the water was short term. Her head was throbbing and her vision was going in and out.
“Hey, you ok? Try to stay awake. We’re almost there, yeah?” Spoiler said, her voice alarmed and full of worry. “Hurry up!”
“Trying!” A voice in front of Luciana and Spoiler called. The voice was awkward. Foreign. But not an accent Luciana herself recognized. She would have tried to take a look at the driver but then their destination came into view: Wayne Manor.
“What…?” Luciana murmured. Her vision was darkening. But why Wayne Manor? Wasn’t that out of the way? Surely, there were hospitals closer to Gotham University?
“It’s ok,” Spoiler reassured once more, her voice gentle. “It’s ok.”
“Ay no,” Luciana murmured, feeling herself losing consciousness. Her head fell back and her vision went dark. Before she lost all sense she felt the car going underground, entering a tunnel or something of the sort, and then she was out.
Finally, Luciana woke up one last time. Her eyes shot open and were looking up at a roof. She felt disoriented and lost. There was some sense that time had passed. Not just a few minutes but a long time. And gods did she have to pee. Her first thought was that she had blacked out. She wasn’t proud of it, but it happened. Sometimes she had too much to drink and woke up with no memories and Stephanie making her breakfast.
“Ste-” She tried to call out, but her dry throat cracked and irritated, the name turning into a fit of coughing. She covered her mouth and sat up. Or at least she tried to. The pain in her lower right side shifted like a tight thread through her stomach and she groaned, laying back down.
“Steph!” Luciana called out loudly, one arm shifting to cover her eyes from the light. What had happened, exactly? “STEPH!”
“She is not here,” a strange voice said. The same from the BatMobile. Luciana blinked in surprise and suddenly remembered the drive. The rush. The gunshot wound.
“Que pasó?” Luciana murmured, lifting her head to look down at herself. Her heart skipped a beat.
An IV drip was inserted in her arm. She was wearing a hospital gown. She was clearly not in her college dorm. Her head had a pounding headache that she was just becoming conscious about, and her gut throbbed lightly. Her heart began racing as a figure stood up from a seat in a shadowed corner and walked into the light, revealing herself.
“Orphan?” Luciana asked, eyes widening.

Wish Defense I: The 'Complaints'
“Be to her virtues very kind, Be to her faults a little blind.” ― Matthew Prior
Disney's Wish was actually great and I'm here to defend it.
I'd like to start by negating most of, if not all, the 'complaints' this film's been getting. Please join me as I do this in 12 brief points:
Asha is a great protagonist. She is not just 'quirky' or one-dimensional: she's caring, strong, beautifully flawed, and doesn't solve every problem on her own; the movie makes a point of every one of these. I never saw her as a clone of someone like Mirabel or Anna. And she does have a character arc: she matures and learns to work hard for what she believes in. She learns that doing the right thing is difficult, but it's necessary. All this makes for a beautifully put-together character that gets through challenges and comes out stronger. Why aren't people talking about how great that is?
Magnifico is a great villain. He's an amalgam of familiar villains like Maleficent, Ursula, and Gaston, done in ways that seem fresh and unique. I've seen a lot of people say his motivation seems to change every few minutes or so, but I disagree. Him using his traumatic past is his excuse for his bad behaviour: that's what narcissists do. Just look at Mother Gothel and all her gaslighting. He was always a self-absorbed jerk who wants everyone under his heel, and whose darkness just got revealed more and more. And his 'villain shtick' is a cool and terrifying one: stripping people of their hopes and dreams to make them docile subjects who depend on him. He takes away their agency, essentially their souls and who they are as people. That is the bad thing he's been doing from Day 1, it's what makes him a villain: the film tells us that. How can people defend him? It's like people defending Gaston all over again. He's a great villain in that he goes against the values the story holds dear, challenges the protagonist in personal ways, is wonderful to hate, and is rightfully depicted as in the wrong for doing bad things. He's the selfish one, not Asha as the 'critics' are claiming. Why aren't people talking about that?
Star is a great secondary character. He is intentionally supposed to be a character that harkens back to those like Jiminy Cricket or Timothy Q. Mouse (I have a very personal connection with Dumbo, so this was important to me). People are REALLY misinterpreting that concept art of them: Star and Asha were never supposed to have a romance because Human Star would look like her grandfather. And 'Starboy' would just be a copy of Peter Pan or Genie, which people would definitely slam, thus I'm glad they changed him. See point 11 for more on Star and why his current form is the one they went with. People just care about having a Jack Frost clone (if they did go that route, they'd probably be slammed for copying Dreamworks, knowing 'critics'). The idea of a mute, magical sidekick, something that we haven't seen since Tinker Bell, is a pretty fun one that feels new and cool. And it's important to note that he never grants anyone's wish: he just helps out, letting Asha and others know that they themselves have to make it come true. Why aren't people talking about that?
I was really worried Valentino was going to be little more than a gag, but he wasn't. He helps out here and there, especially when aiding the Teens in freeing the wishes, proving his importance to the narrative. Plus I did find him pretty funny.
The Teens do stand on their own. I went into the movie knowing they were going to be new versions of the 7 Dwarfs, but each of them felt like their own unique person to me, especially Dahlia and Simon.
The animation is gorgeous: you have to watch it in HD or 4k, which people are doing for other films like Spider-Verse or Nimona, just not this one. It is far from 'lazy' or 'Disney Junior level': it harkens back to art styles Walt Disney himself loved. I can't believe they managed to replicate the feel of classic Disney backgrounds, like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty, so perfectly with modern technology. It looks like a painting, or a tapestry. Disney movies are still beautiful. Why aren't people talking about that?
The music is great: I've caught myself singing every song at least thrice. Each song brings something to the table. 'This is the Thanks I Get' fits Magnifico's character, and is something in the same vein as Gaston's song; you cannot tell me that one rent line is worse than 'nobody spits like Gaston'. I still get chills listening to 'This Wish' and its reprise. I don't know how people online are starting to think it's a bad song, but now others are just jumping on the bandwagon. You can see Asha's love and struggles within the song, and it even has the melody of 'Part of Your World'; how can you hate that? I've seen so many people personally connect with that song, myself included... Why aren't people talking about that?
'At All Costs' was never a love song between Asha and Star: Julia Michaels just wanted a love song (find that Variety article), and now it can be used for all kinds of love. I actually did tear up watching that sequence for the first time, seeing Asha hold her grandfather's wish dearly in her arms. I've seen people say it reminds them of what a parent would sing to their child, like 'You'll Be in My Heart', and I think that's just so wonderful and heartfelt. Why aren't people talking about that?
I don't have the actual post, but I'd like to bring attention back to what an artist on the film said: every 'Easter Egg' is meaningfully placed, a tribute to what has inspired generations. Not one of them felt shoehorned in to me. This movie is a tribute, a love letter, a celebration of what people have loved for 100 years. Why aren't people talking about that?
Magnifico's defeat is far from silly. It makes sense given the rules the world of the film runs on: the fact that 'we are made of stars' is a good Chekov's gun that carries a lot of meaningful importance. Each of us is special, each of us has magic, and each of us has hope. And this is where evil dies and good endures: Magnifico cannot comprehend that anyone but himself is worth anything, thus why he cannot quell this and it is the reason for this downfall. He, the villain, loses because he lacks the virtues the heroes possess. Why aren't people talking about that?
The story of this film is special: as confirmed by the staff, the film is an allegory for Walt Disney's life, and the story of Disney overall. Asha is Walt Disney, Star is Mickey Mouse: a magical force of creativity and inspiration that lights up a dark time. Because of the special nature of this, even though I'm a die-hard Disney fan, I'm fine with there not being any romance in this film (even though I'd like it back someday). This was intentionally made as a simple film à la Snow White, which was meant to be a happy, hope-giving film for people back in the 1930s. Just like this film is supposed to be now. One last time: why aren't people talking about that?
This is the first of a few posts I'll make defending this movie, so for other Wish fans out there, please stick around. I don't care if I get dragged for this: I'd rather stick up for my beliefs and defend myself my way than let online bullies like Schaffrillas, Aldone, or Astor Rhymemaster stop me from loving something I really enjoyed. I really hope this movie gets the Atlantis treatment and becomes a beloved cult classic down the line. Until next time.

🎃 ROTTMNT Halloween Headcanons 🎃
Horror Movies
Summary: The Hamato siblings & horror movies
Headcanons for: Raph, Donnie, Leo, Mikey, & April
Halloween Headcanons - Haunted House Edition
Halloween Headcanons - Haunted House (x Reader ver.)
i added a few horror movie references here and there (betcha can't name 'em all!)
Raph:
Favorite genre: Zombie horror
Least favorite genre: Gore/Torture
isn't too fond of horror movies; would rather watch action movies
he's convinced that 'based on a true story' movies are 100% real
easily jumpscared but tries to laugh it off every time
leo will tease him about his fear stink tho
believes twilight technically counts as horror
"it's a movie about vampires and high school! how'zat not scary?"
might watch horror movies alone if he's surrounded by plushies and his blanket
won't sleep all night tho
leaves the light on after a horror marathon "just in case"
Donnie:
Favorite genre: Psychological when done right; Time-loop horror
Least favorite genre: Found footage
isn't too bothered by horror movies
but plot holes will frustrate him to no end
and he WILL make his brothers listen to him rant about it afterwards
"SCOFF! he was OBVIOUSLY a ghost, literally no one else noticed him or talked to him!"
prefers j-horror (subbed even tho he understands japanese)
he doesn't have a favorite movie but he does like the japanese film 'horrors of malformed men' (江戸川乱歩全集恐怖奇形人間)
considers found footage horror movies inferior and 'lazy'
spends most of the movie criticizing the characters and making fun of the villain
was terrified of pennywise as a kid (dvd rental mix-up that went unnoticed by papa splinter)
for the longest time, he thought pennywise lived in their sewers
Leo:
Favorite genre: Slasher movies; Parody horror
Least favorite genre: Classic
he loves horror movies and binges them for halloween
joins in on donnie's commentary, which mildly annoys mikey and raph
most of leo's commentary is just making fun of his brothers
"oh hey, don bon! i had no idea you were on tv... congrats on the blob monster role~!"
finds silent horror movies to be incredibly booooring
enjoys campy 80s horror (evil dead 2, gremlins, creepshow, ect)
unironically considers killer klowns from outer space a masterpiece
is banned from picking movies bc of this
might get spooked from time to time
not that he'll admit it
nothing can shake this ninja warrior, nuh uh no way
Mikey:
Favorite genre: Paranormal/Ghost movies
Least favorite genre: Psychological
considers himself a "horror expert" and owns all the classics
likes to play "who would survive this plot" with his brothers during the movie
according to him, leo's usually the most likely to die first
has a plan for every possible zombie apocalypse scenario (that he totally didn't get from a bunch of zombie movies)
"i'm not saying that he *should*, but donnie could totally build a giant prison maze for ghosts. it'll be just like the movie!"
will occasionally watch scary movies alone in the dark
overestimates his fearlessness every time-
loves a good ghost movie but he's a bit of a scaredy cat
might need a few cutesy romance movies afterwards to feel better
April:
Favorite genre: Found footage
Least favorite genre: Slasher/Killer horror
loves a good horror movie binge and will jump on any chance to watch them with her brothers
always ready with halloween themed snacks and candies
is also a self-proclaimed "horror expert"
she knows a lot more than mikey tho
can tell you about the directors, the history of horror movies, and the stories the movies are based on with complete detail
"movie night at my place? i've got just the thing to scare y'all out of your shells~"
rec is probably one of her top 5 favorite movies
likes the idea of creating her own found footage horror movie
mikey, leo, and splinter are all on board to be in her movie
donnie and raph? not so much

It was worth it :Dick Grayson x f!reader
Massive thanks to @pinkcherryblossom18 for letting me use her idea for this story: Titans!Dick who unexpectedly shows up at his old friend house to seek help for Rachel, even though he knows how pissed said friend is going to be at him. So, the girl is just spending the day with her adoptive mother, Selina Kyle, planning on doing sth fun when someone knocks on the door. And even after being welcomed in a vigilante/villain style, Dick still thinks it was worth showing at reader's doorstep.
“So…..” Selina started stretching her arms lazily and leaning back on the couch, crossing her legs
“So what?” the younger girl, her not-so-official adoptive daughter rolled her eyes trying not to show how annoyed she was
“So, I was thinking about a little bit of a mother-daughter time would be fun….”
“You’re not my mother.” The girl pointed out. They may not have been related, but during the years Selina Kyle raised Y/N Y/L/N the latter took a lot from her. Teasing and playing around was definitely one of those traits. “But I’m listening. Honestly, it’s getting boring living in this hell hole. God, I miss Gotham sometimes.”
“From what I can tell you keep yourself rather busy” Selina leaned down and grabbed one of the stray cats Y/N was taking care of, absentmindedly starting to rub its fur, much to the animal’s delight “Such a cutie” she purred at it “though I miss this freaking city too. Sometimes.”
“Let me guess why” the girl smirked “I bet it’s because of one particular Gotham vigilante…”
“Watch your tongue, dear. Such insinuations are way beyond your level. I taught you better.”
“Yeah, yeah you did. No matter how hard I try I always get back to the old ways.”
“Call it instinct, honey.” Selina flashed a smile and fluttered her eyelashes.
“Oh, stop it. Can’t fool me with that trick” Y/N rolled her eyes again “Cut to the chase”
“You won’t let me have my fun, do you?” Selina sighed dramatically but soon turned back to her calculated self. “You know, there’s a new boutique on the 34th. We can go full fashion. My wardrobe really need some renewal and judging from your T-shirt, yours as well.”
“What’s wrong with it?” Y/N took a quick glance at her hoodie and tilted her head. “besides all the cut fur, of course.”
“Oh, honey….” Selina sighed “I’m gone for what? Two weeks….”
“Two months.” The girl corrected crossing her arms
“And you’re already turning into someone …. Ordinary. Such a shame. I really need to get you back in shape. What do you say? A little shopping spree. Don’t you miss that thrill?” she smiled and a few flashbacks run through Y/N’s head. One of them of how one night when she and Selina were running the streets after one particularly good action and surprisingly were stopped by two male-counterparts. But. Putting that aside, Y/N did miss some action and night blood rush. The cold night air on her face as she was jumping from one rooftop to another. The chills and adrenaline when she was flexing and doing her most crazy acrobatic shit. The act she put on while flirting with whoever could her to the object of interest, pretending to be innocent and gullible only to show her mastermind and perfect plan behind all of this. She was smart, she was shrewd, fast-think and ….. lazy. As much as she hated to admit it, moving out and being left all by herself made her…. Unwilling. Selina was right. It was such a shame that of late her abilities were going to waste.
“What’s going on in that head of yours?” Selina asked a bit worried about her protégé.
“Nothing” the girl shook her head “But….. can I ask you a question?”
“I don’t need to answer, right?”
“Actually, I would like you to answer. Please” Y/N looked at Selina with pleading, honest and sad expression and it moved something inside the Catwoman’s heart.
“All right. Don’t make me go all soft on you.” she hissed covering all the feelings raising in her chest. Despite everything, she treated Y/n as a daughter (or maybe younger sister, since thinking of herself as mother made her feel old. “What is it?”
“How do you still find all of it funny and thrilling?”
“I’m sorry?”
“You know. For me, the best part wasn;t the fact that we… I…. was doing something forbidden. It was rather the part of being chased. And sometimes, getting caught. And… you know…..” Y/n’s cheeks were now a bit flushed and Selina knew exactly what, or rather who she was referring to.
“Oh, honey. You really do need something to get your mind off things” she gently caressed girl’s face. “you reminiscence too much and that is no good. We’re going tonight. Hope you can still use that charm of yours.”
“Right” Y/N looked down. “I…..” before she could say a thing she was cut off by a firm knock on the door “Sorry, let me just check who intend on ruining my evening.”
Unwillingly she stood up from the couch and with a couple quiet long steps opened the door.
“I’m not interested in whatever you are selling so leave …. Oh, shit…..”
“Hi Y/N” the young man on the other side smiled lightly and awkwardly.
“No.” Y/N was quick to reach the frame and shut the door close. What the hell!? What was he doing here?! It’s been what? Three years? Three years since his titans team fell apart and he rushed away from everything he knew, her included. Three years of radio silence on his part (well, she did not reach for him either, but still it was his fault since he was the one who disappeared without a trace). Shit! And now he was standing by her door and she was wearing an old hoodie and stretched pants. Her hair were a mess and she still had that freaking pelage everywhere. Damn it! Her heart was pounding like crazy, blood rushing straight to her head. Even after all those years, he had such an effect on her. Groaning in annoyance she leaned her back on the door, praying he would just go away.
“Who is it?” Selina emerged from the room with her most hypnotizing stride “Definitely someone worth attention if you’re left like this.” She chuckled
“Dick Grayson” Y/N smiled viciously watching Selina’s expression drop
“Is he….?”
“From what I can tell he’s alone, but who knows?” the girl shrugged “You know the bats, they lurk in the shadows.”
“Fuck. “ Selina cussed “This is not how I planned on this day to go.”
“You think I wanted this?!” Y/N scoffed
“Well, you mentioned something about missing being chased…..”
“Oh, shut up!” the girl finally let her rage go. “Sorry.” She chucked “I know the rules. Play it cool. Play it nice.”
“Precisely. You did it so many times before, what’s one more. Deal with it fast and I’ll meet you on our rooftop at 10 p.m.” she patted girl’s cheek in a condescending manner. “Don’t let me down.” And with such words she slipped through the open window.
“Don’t let me down.” Y/N mocked sticking her tongue out in a child-like behavior. “Whatever you say, mother. Coward. Running away because the bat may be on her track.” She muttered to herself.
“Y/N. Please, open the door. I need your help.”
“You need my help, now, huh?” once again she opened the door abruptly, standing face to face with her old (more than) friend. “How about I give you a hand?” she raised an arm in attempt to slap him, but he was faster and grabbed her wrist. She did not falter as she used another hand, that reached the destination and with a loud snap met with his cheek.
“Ouch.” He hissed and let go of her arm.
“You deserved that! Three years, Grayson! Three fuckign years and now you just appear out of thin air with….. a child?”
“Y/N, meet Rachel. She’s ….. she has some powers….. Can we come inside so I will explain it further?”
“No.” Y/N took a step to the right blocking the entrance.
“Y/N. I’m begging you…..”
“Well that is a new thing…..”
“Don’t make a scene.”
“And why not exactly?” she pondered. “Because you are afraid of being embarrassed in front of…..” she hang the sentence waiting for them to remind her the name of the girl
“Rachel” the youngest of the three helped
“Right. Rachel. Sorry for that little display, bet your friend Dick did not mention who I am.”
“Not…. exactly….”
“Oh, okey. Well, long story short, we used to be….. frankly, I don’t even know how to describe our relationship….”
“Y/N…..” Dick sighed, his face still red from the slap. Y/N was definitely stronger than she looked at first sight.
“I am talking now.” Her face was now filled with rage and it made her look so powerful and fierce the boy shut his mouth instantly, suddenly being reminded why he fell for her so easily in the past. She was a force not to play with, but on the other side she had this soft side, only a few people knew how to reach.
“I already like her” Rachel smiled.
“Y/N look, she has nowhere to go. Her mother was shot, she never knew her father and I know you know how that feels……”
“I…..” she dropped her gaze. He knew exactly where to hit. The point was, she really did know the feeling. Her parents abandoned her when she was barely 9. For four years she was running around foster homes, never really wanted, tossed like a used glove, never really taken care of, until Selina saw something more to her and took her in, and trained her and showed her something better in life. “I hate you, Grayson. Now, get in, both of you.” she pulled her unexpected visitors into the narrow hallway. “You can go wait in the living room, pet the cats or whatever. They are not as predatory as they seem.”
“Just like someone else I know” Dick smiled at Y/N when Rachel left.
“Stop it.”
“What?”
“You know what. Why did you come to me? Why not any of your Titans friend? Donna? Dawn? Hell, even Hank would be better choice than me.”
“No.”
“What?”
“They wouldn’t . They don’t really know how it feels like to be raised without parents. You and I. We do. And you have a thing for stray living beings.”
“I ….. I don’t…..” she snorted with disgust but couldn’t hide the fact that only a second later she was checking out what Rachel was doing, making sure the girl was all right “I’m not like that….”
“You are. Even if you don’t want to admit it. I know you.”
“You knew me years ago. How do you know I did not change for worse?”
“I know.”
“Ok, I’m gonna ask you again” she punched his chest only to get some of the accumulated energy out “why. The hell. Are. YOU. here? And how did you even find me!?”
“I missed you.” he confessed
“Oh, hell no! I’m not falling for that. Our parents followed that path and look where it got them. I’m not making the same mistake. I can take the girl in and that is all. I want nothing to do with you. Not after….. after everything…..”
“I made a mistake, all right? I never should have….”
“Shut up! Just shut up! I don’t want to hear you!” she covered her ears not wanting to let him sweet talk her “ I’m over you, don’t you understand that. I never wanted you to come back and haunt me and …..DAMN IT!” out of frustration she started throwing punches. The kind of kicks he could have easily dodged, but didn’t “why don’t you just fight back?!” she hissed and finally her fist met with his jaw, taking them both by surprise.
“Selina would be proud of you.” Dick muttered making sure his maxilla wasn’t dislocated.
“Don’t think so. It’s hard to impress people who take their alter-ego from an animal. You know that” he nodded taking a deep breath “If anything she would be disappointed I lost control like that. Does it…. Does it hurt much?”
“See. Soft spot. Told you.” Dick smiled widely and immediately hissed in pain
“Do you want another, symmetric punch on the other side.”
“It was still worth it, you know. Coming here. Seeing you. I meant what I said, I really did miss you.”
“If you keep running your mouth I’m gonna kick you in the groin.”
“Ok, all right. I’ll stop. You really did not change a thing.”
“I hate you. Now, tell me what is wrong with that demonic child you decided to put on my shoulders.”

✧Ven Ven x Reader relationship hcs I have that I don't think have been mentioned yet✧
☆ミ☆彡☆ミ☆彡☆ミ☆彡☆ミ☆彡☆ミ☆彡☆ミ
✧Narrating each other's every move as if it's a nature documentary~
You eagerly plop yourself right in front of your partner, Kamera ready and in hand. You prepare your narrator voice.
"The secret bird man in his natural habitat, travel weary, spots his pray. It's an apple, sitting idly in a tree. Little does it know that it faces grave danger."
"Windblume..."
"The bird man prepares his plan of attack-he will fly and get it like the big bird he is." You prompt him from behind the scenes. He rolls his eyes, and then slowly spreads his wings as you keep yourself from laughing. He's gonna pay you back for this silliness, he will make sure of that.
"Now look at that. A most beautiful specimen indeed. But does that mean he will succeed in the capture of his prey?"
You point to the tree and mouth and smile at your partner from behind, looking at the apple and nodding in the direction. The bard decides that he will follow his cues-for now. He retrieves the apple, and takes a dramatically large bite.
"ah. Rest in piece apple. You shall be missed, but your place on the food chain...was never that high."
The star actor suddenly tosses the apple away, and then looks at you. He gets to the ground, and prowls slowly towards you.
"Oh... This is strange. Has he found more prey? What has he...oh..."
He's very close to the Kamera.
"Maybe..." He says villainously. "Maybe that apple wasn't the lowest thing on the food chain, windblume...
He pounces on you and pins you down with endless kisses and snuggles before you can even react.
How could you not know this was coming?
Other HCS!!!
✧Lots of naps together, obviously. But you have to have matching eyemasks~ how else will people know that you're off limits?
✧Occasional turf wars with Marvin and Marla. They ended after the first one because you realized that Stormterrors lair is much better for the two of you.
✧ treating the thousand winds temple as if it's your personal ballroom. When that one ruin guard comes, Venti can basically one-shot it at this point. Then, the two of you waltz as if nobody's watching for hours on end.
✧Using anemo slimes as toys/pets- sometimes, gently bopping an anemo slime back and forth is low-key fun, especially if both of you are extremely lazy and drained and aren't in the mood for anything else. Sometimes, the two of you hold weddings for anemo slimes because of the one time you were cooing over how cute two anemo slimes looked together and the archon has never forgotten how cute that was.
✧Breaking into the cathedral to tune all the unused instruments and play the giant organ-youve never gotten caught
✧lots of travel- not that you're rich, but actual adventuring where you experience all teyvat has to offer with him. The two of you also enjoy finding natural spas...
✧massages. He loves how ticklish you are, and you love how ticklish he is. It's just cute...especially when his wings pop out of nowhere.
✧ loves when you pick up new instruments, or if you want to sing or embrace your musicality. Let him teach you a few things, he would love to perform with you someday!!!
✧Let him tell you his stories. Just ask him, don't be shy... he's been a wallflower to many, many stories as much as an active force...so he knows what's up.

Mike has always been the sort of person who likes lazy birthdays. When he was younger, he rarely got them - his mother always had something planned, some party or event or special breakfast or something. Which- okay, is super nice of her when he thinks about it, and he probably shouldn’t be complaining, but- Mike needs his sleep, okay? It’s stressful enough to deal with becoming one whole year older. Being awoken at seven a.m. by an overly excited and well-meaning parent, plus his sisters if they were in the mood, was never a great way to start off a day like that.
And he’d assumed, now that he’s in college, he’d be mercifully free of the cursory birthday celebrations. Not that he doesn’t like his birthday, or celebrations, or having fun or anything like that, because saying he doesn’t like those things makes him sound like a cartoon villain or something, but- Wheeler birthdays are a lot. He’s never been good at them.
So, on the morning of Mike’s nineteenth birthday, he’s expecting to have a nice, languid morning, sleeping in until at least noon before making himself the only breakfast he knows how to make - slightly charred scrambled eggs and toast - and watching TV, or something. He knows the Party is supposed to come over later, because his roommate and best friend is a terrible secret keeper and Mike had found the plans for his surprise party on his desk weeks ago now (which, okay, he might have been snooping a little, but whatever). But that’s not until seven p.m., so his plans for the day had mainly consisted of television, junk food, and maybe going to go bother Will. If he’s in the mood.
That is not what happens.
Instead, he’s awakened at approximately nine in the morning by his door flying open so violently that it hits the wall and bounces back. Light pours into the room from the hallway, shining directly into Mike’s eyes, and he stirs with a groan, rubbing his eyes and wincing.
“Happy birthday,” Will says, pleased with himself as he stands in the doorway with his hands on his hips, as though he has not entirely disrupted Mike’s beauty rest - or, rather, that he knows he has, and isn’t at all sorry about it. “Wake up, old man.”
“Go away,” Mike groans, slumping back against his pillows and throwing an arm over his eyes. “I want to sleep.”
Will huffs, unimpressed, and Mike’s vaguely aware of his feet pattering across the floor before the mattress creaks and dips, and suddenly Will is right there, and Mike can feel his presence hovering over him even as he steadfastly refuses to open his eyes. “You’re not going to thank me?” Will questions, warm and teasing and right in Mike’s ear, and Mike dares to peek over the sleeve of his sweatshirt just enough to see Will, who is, sure enough, hovering right in Mike’s face. His hands are planted on either side of Mike’s head, a smirk plastered on his dumb, smug face, and- listen, Mike’s not necessarily pleased about being woken up this way, but if Will stays this close to him, he could probably get on board.
“Why would I thank you,” he grumbles anyway, removing his arm from his face so as to glare at Will properly. “You’re being a nuisance.”
Will rolls his eyes, which is probably fair, because he has never and will never be anything but a glowing, entirely positive presence in Mike’s life and they both know it, but- principles. “I said happy birthday,” he points out, “and you didn’t thank me.”
“Well, you also called me an old man, so I’d say we’re even,” Mike mutters, and evidently Will is satisfied by this response, because he sits back on his heels, grinning like an idiot and patting Mike’s chest gently.
Mike might not be fully awake yet, but he’s pretty sure that Will shouldn’t move so far away, and that preferably he’d come back and get in Mike’s face like that again. He just barely resists the urge to grab Will’s wrist and tug him back in, fingers twitching where they rest over the duvet as he tries not to think about how the only other thing nicer than going back to sleep right now was if Will stayed here and slept beside him.
Okay, so Mike is definitely not fully awake yet.
“You should get up,” Will is saying, and he’s still stupidly far away but he hasn’t moved farther, either, seemingly content to sit halfway on top of Mike like this while Mike curls further under the covers. He’s already dressed, Mike notices, wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt for some band Mike’s never heard of, and he has Mike’s sweatshirt thrown over, some blue, oversized thing that he stole from Mike a couple weeks ago and Mike still hasn’t gotten the courage to confront him about. Mostly because he’s afraid Will might stop wearing it, if he asked about it.
“I want to sleep,” Mike reiterates, yanking his blanket over his head so that he’s forced to stop looking at the stupid sweatshirt, and Will immediately yanks the blanket back, peering over the edge and smirking down at him. “Go away. I hate you.”
These entirely false statements only serve to egg Will on, if the delighted look on his face is any indication. “No you don’t,” he says evenly, and he’s a little bit infuriating with it, sometimes, with this weird push-and-pull thing they’ve had going on since sometime around their junior year of high school. It’s one thing when Will is teasing with it, the maybe-flirting, because then Mike can at least pretend it’s a joke, but when he says things like this - no you don’t - so plainly, like it’s a fact, it has a tendency to make Mike feel a little bit too exposed. The closet’s made of glass, or whatever it was Will had said to him when they came out to each other a million years ago.
Today, Mike opts not to react to it, because it is his birthday, and therefore he deserves a little leniency - though, not from Will, apparently. “Go away,” he says again, and still means the opposite.
Will smiles, tapping a fingertip against his nose and letting it linger there a beat longer than strictly necessary. “Come on,” he says quietly, like he means it this time, “I got you breakfast.”
At this, Mike’s whole train of thought - which had mostly been centered around Will’s finger pressed to his face and what it might feel like to lean into that touch - grinds to a screeching halt. “You- what?” he asks, frowning, and Will’s smile widens.
“Breakfast,” he repeats, and there’s another creaking of springs as he launches himself off the bed and heads for the door, pausing to quirk an eyebrow at Mike as he sits up, still frowning in confusion. “Come on, Mike, God. Have to wait on you for everything.”
Mike scowls, kicking the covers off and padding after Will into the kitchen where, sure enough, there are two plates set out with breakfast burritos from Mike’s favorite café, plus two mugs - coffee for Will, tea for Mike - neatly lined up beside them at the table.
It’s- a lot. Mike’s still not really awake.
“Will,” he says, still frowning as Will gestures for him to sit down and grabs two paper napkins from the roll on the counter, “What is this?”
Will pauses where he’s placing the napkins in front of them, giving him a mildly incredulous look. “I told you,” he huffs, “Breakfast.”
“I- no, I get that,” Mike says, staring at his burrito like it’s somehow dangerous as he sits down at the table, “But- um. Why?”
“Jesus Christ, Michael,” Will says, no bite to it, as he sits down across from him, “It’s your birthday, remember?”
Mike takes a sip of tea, hoping the caffeine will jump-start his system a little. No dice. He does note, however, that Will’s made the tea exactly how he likes it - English Breakfast, with oat milk and an ungodly amount of honey.
“I remember,” he says slowly, watching Will take a bite of his own burrito, “I just. Sorry, nevermind.”
It’s not like it’s that special, he tells himself, because he and Will have breakfast together all the time, whenever they both have mornings off from classes and work and whatever else. And it’s not like walking the two blocks to the cafe to buy him breakfast is even that much of a feat - a very large part of the reason Mike loves the restaurant so much is because it’s cheap and close to their apartment. And- it’s good. Good food. But still, it’s not like Will has gone that much out of his way or anything, and it’s not like Mike’s never been awoken to a special birthday breakfast before, but it’s- it’s just different, now. He’s an adult, and his birthday breakfasts up until this point had been entirely provided by his mother, which is nice and all, but it had all felt very cursory. He’d kind of expected to fend for himself a little this year, now that he’s independent and adult or whatever, had expected to dictate his day and spend it mostly alone, doing whatever he felt like.
So it’s just nice, he supposes. That someone else notices, besides himself.
Will arches an eyebrow at him, chewing slowly as he watches the gears in Mike’s head turn. “You okay?” he asks around a mouthful of burrito, which should be gross but is more endearing than anything else.
Mike nods, a small smile tugging at his lips as he takes a bite of his food - the food that Will went out and got for him, just because - and kicks his foot gently against Will’s ankle under the table.
Will watches him for another few seconds, bemused and endeared, before humming and returning to his breakfast. They eat in relative silence, Mike still sipping at his tea and trying to cajole his brain into a slightly less mushy, lovesick state. He’s going to embarrass himself very quickly, if he’s not careful, which isn’t to say that he doesn’t constantly embarrass himself in front of Will, but. Principles.
When they’re done eating, Will clears Mike’s plate and mug before Mike can ask him to or make a move to do it himself, dumping them both in the sink and turning to face Mike, a small smile on his face. “What’s on the agenda today, old man?” he asks, and Mike is awake enough now that the old man comment makes him scowl a little.
“You’re older than me,” he says, just to be petty, and Will lifts a shoulder in a shrug, unperturbed, “And- I mean, I was planning on still being asleep right about now, so you tell me.”
Will fixes him with an unimpressed look, walking back over to the table where he’s sitting and leaning against the edge, and he’s- he’s doing it again, the getting-in-Mike’s-space thing, and it’s scrambling Mike’s brain. “I let you sleep until nine,” he points out calmly, which is true and fair, except that that’s only two hours later than Mike would sleep on a school day, and one of the great benefits to his first birthday as a functioning, real adult is that it happens to fall on a Saturday, and Mike’s made it his personal mission since he was fifteen to never bear witness to anything that happens on a Saturday before noon unless strictly necessary, so.
It’s kind of ridiculous how many of his principles he’ll compromise for Will, without Will even having to ask.
“You’re an evil dictator,” he tells Will, whose face splits into a wide smile, which, of course, was exactly what Mike was hoping would happen. Not that he’d ever say that out loud.
“You love me,” Will says, and brushes past him into the living room, grabbing the TV remote off the coffee table and settling himself onto the couch. Mike watches him a little dazedly, still standing dumbly in the kitchen area and wondering what response could he possibly have to that statement that’s not entirely incriminating.
When he doesn’t immediately follow him to the couch, Will arches an eyebrow, glancing over at him with the remote lifted halfway into the air. “I assume you wanted to spend all day watching your dumb sitcoms,” he says, and Mike can see that he’s already got an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine pulled up, and half-considers protesting that it’s not dumb, and that it’s not his fault that Will’s taste in media consists entirely of thriller movies, “But we don’t have to.”
We, Mike thinks, a little deliriously, and jerks his head in a maybe-nod that Will smirks at. He takes up the seat beside Will on the couch, feeling a little dizzy and overwhelmed and kind of like his entire body is out of sync. Which is sort of annoying, because he’d thought by now he’d have grown into himself a little, but he’s a year older and he’s still clunky and awkward and stupidly in love with Will Byers, and it doesn’t look like any of those things are going to change anytime soon.
Well. There’s only so much a guy can do.
Will leans into his side, and Mike decides it’s going to be a good birthday after all.
---
“I can’t believe we’re celebrating your dumb birthday twice,” Max informs Mike later that evening, after the obligatory surprise reveal of the party they all knew Mike already knew about, while they all sit on the floor of the living room and pass around a cake box. Will and Mike never really got around to buying enough dishware for more than two people, so they’re passing the box back and forth with a singular fork, which at least one of the Party members would probably be protesting if not for the presence of the (slightly illegal) bottle of wine that Lucas had brought.
“It’s not my fault,” Mike tells Max, snatching the fork out of her hand and stealing a bite of cake - his cake, thank you very much- “I didn’t plan the surprise party.”
Max rolls her eyes. “I know that,” she says, like he’s the one being difficult, “But we celebrated your in-between birthday with Will literally last week, so I kind of figured we were done, but then he called us all and begged us to stay in New York for a few extra days so we could do this too.”
In all his snooping about the surprise party, Mike had failed to discover that detail. He glances at Will, eyes wide, and Will coughs, blushing a little and glancing away. “You were gonna spend your whole birthday sitting at home watching TV by yourself,” he says, which Mike had never strictly told him, but he supposes it makes sense that Will would know anyway, “That’s super depressing. I had to at least make sure you weren’t alone for it.”
You care about me, Mike thinks gleefully but doesn’t say aloud, instead opting for the coward’s way out; “What if I wanted to watch TV by myself all day?”
“You didn’t,” Will says plainly, and Mike falters where he’s halfway toward initiating a fake-argument. “You thought you did, but you didn’t.”
Max’s eyebrows lift halfway toward her hairline, and she lets out a low whistle. “That’s presumptuous,” she mutters, and El whacks her shoulder, reproachful.
“I think it’s sweet, Will,” she says, and Mike’s too dumbfounded, too shaken by Will’s painfully accurate reading of him, to be as delighted as usual by the smattering of pink that appears across the bridge of Will’s nose at the words.
“Yeah, I don’t know why we’re complaining,” Dustin agrees, snatching the cake box right out of Mike’s hands, which is maybe a blessing in disguise because his whole body has kind of gone slack as he stares at Will, and he’d been seconds away from dropping it anyway, “This means we get two cakes. And twice the booze.”
“You’re welcome for that, by the way,” Lucas says, and Dustin rolls his eyes at him.
They launch into an argument, and Will glances up, shyer than usual as he meets Mike’s eyes. You care about me, Mike thinks again, a little more reverently this time, and Will smiles softly at him, and it feels like an of course I do.
But maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
Will’s foot nudges Mike’s knee, just firmly enough for Mike to know it’s not an accident, and Mike offers him a smile of his own, fully aware that he’s probably blushing the same shade as Max’s hair. He glances away, clearing his throat and joining whatever conversation the rest of the Party has dissolved into, but he can feel Will’s smile down to his bones for the rest of the night anyway.
---
“You care about me,” Mike says aloud, the second the door closes behind El, after the wine bottle has been entirely decimated and the cake is long gone and he and Will are alone in the apartment again.
Will glances up from where he’s shoving the now-empty cake box into their slightly-overflowing trash can, a small smirk on his face. “Excellent observation skills, Mike,” he says wryly, straightening up and wiping his palms on his jeans. He’s still wearing Mike’s hoodie. Mike, suddenly, wants to confront him about it after all.
“You really planned all that for me?” he asks, stepping into the kitchen and leaning against the counter as he watches Will wipe down the granite surface with a wet rag.
“Did you or did you not go snooping through my room for my notes about it?” Will asks, not looking up from where he’s scrubbing at a sticky spot on the counter, and Mike flushes a little. He’d known Will knew, of course, because Will rarely keeps secrets from him, and they’re rarely of such a trivial variety, but it’s just slightly embarrassing to be called out on it so bluntly.
“Your fault for not using the notes app like a normal person,” Mike replies, and then, before Will can launch into his standard rant about needing to feel the pen in his hand, or whatever, which doesn’t make sense in any way whatsoever, and Mike should know, being the writer-person out of the two of them- “I- thank you.”
At this, Will pauses, the rag falling slack in his hand as he glances up at Mike, faintly surprised. “What, for the party?”
Mike swallows. “Yeah,” he manages, through the fog that tends to cloud his brain when Will looks at him like that - so open and honest and sincere, like Mike matters- “And for the rest of it, too, because I didn’t say it when you woke me up this morning but that was really nice too, and it’s nice when you sit and watch my dumb sitcoms with me and when you drive me to class on mornings when you’re free, and I just- it’s just, like.”
Will lifts an eyebrow. “Nice?”
Maybe Mike’s not a writer-person after all. “I just,” he tries again, mildly frustrated with himself, and a little bit with Will too, because how is he supposed to focus on words when Will’s looking at him like that and moving closer, edging along the counter toward him, “I guess I’m just saying thanks for, uh. Being here. In my life.”
He winces. That’s terribly corny, he’s sure, and also probably very incriminating, and he still doesn’t have the capacity to process it because Will’s still moving closer, coming to stand in front of Mike and smiling expectantly up at him.
Will opens his mouth to speak, but before he can Mike blurts; “You’re wearing my sweatshirt.”
Will falters a little, glancing down and nodding when he sees his hands, covered by the too-big fabric of Mike’s hoodie, like he hadn’t noticed. You’re full of shit, Mike thinks, and is more endeared by the feigned innocence than he has any right to be. “So I am,” Will agrees, glancing up and meeting his eyes again. “Is that a problem?”
Mike shakes his head quickly, not wanting Will to be, like, offended or something, and then immediately realizes that Will is still messing with him, a little, and scowls. “No,” he says anyway, just in case, “But- you’re so annoying, did you know that?”
“You love me,” Will says, in that same infuriatingly calm tone, and this time Mike doesn’t want to brush it off.
He meets Will’s eyes directly, swallows, and despite the fact that his heart rate is currently averaging about 150 beats per minute his voice is calm and low and serious when he responds, “Yeah.”
Will blinks. “Oh.”
Mike is the one smirking now, feeling a little giddy and dizzy but put at ease by the slip in Will’s poker face. “You didn’t know that?”
“I don’t,” Will starts, and then seems to lose his nerve, falling silent and shaking his head, and Mike’s not sure if he means that he doesn’t have a response, or that he didn’t know, or something else that Mike’s not yet aware of.
They’re standing awfully close together. Mike swallows. “How did you know?”
Will frowns. “That you love me?”
“No,” Mike says, though it sends a little bit of a thrill through his stomach, hearing it said aloud like that, “About- that I didn’t want to be alone, today.”
“Oh,” Will says, and his face splits into an easy smile, shoulders relaxing a little. “Oh, I just- that’s just because I know you, dummy. You think you’re this loner type who wants to be left alone and have chill birthdays and be all detached and whatever, but you’re secretly still just the same kid that likes presents and parties and cake and- and being with the people you love, so.”
Mike swallows hard, caught between hysterical laughter and breaking into sobs, and already halfway toward kissing Will in his stupid perfect face. “You know,” he manages, through the lump in his throat, “If I were anyone else you’d sound so condescending right now.”
Will’s expression does not change. “Good thing you’re you, then,” he says quietly, and there’s barely any space between them now. If Mike tilted his face up just a little-
-their noses would brush, and he would see Will’s eyes flutter shut, maybe, and then-
“Mike,” Will says, sounding mildly embarrassed, and his voice cuts through Mike’s hazy, lovesick thoughts, “If you want to kiss me, can you please just do it already?”
Mike’s eyes fly open - they’d been half-shut, he now realizes - and he releases a garbled sort of sound of confusion. “What-”
“Mike,” Will says again, and there’s an urgency to it that makes something swoop in Mike’s stomach.
And- well, he can’t really argue when Will says his name like that, can he?
“Okay,” he whispers, and catches Will in a kiss.
Will tastes like frosting and cheap wine, and he’s warm, soft and pliant under Mike’s hands as he reaches up to cup his face in his hands. It feels- cozy, almost, melting into Will, letting him wrap his arms around Mike’s waist and pull him in closer. It feels like sitcom marathons and warm laughter and the gentle weight of Will hovering over him this morning. It feels comfortable, and safe, and like everything Mike never thought he’d be lucky enough to have, so he can’t be blamed for it, really, when he presses in closer, pulling Will against him and tangling a hand in his hair.
“Mike,” Will sighs against his mouth, and it sounds entirely different this time, different from any way he’s ever said his name before. Like it slipped out of his mouth unbidden, a thought voiced into existence entirely by accident. It sends a shiver down Mike’s spine, and he places a hand over Will’s waist, tucked under the fabric of his sweatshirt - Mike’s sweatshirt - and pulls him in, leaning back against the counter and relishing the gentle caress of Will’s hands against his sides, trailing over his ribcage.
He pulls back, if only to see the pink glow slowly overtaking Will’s face, the flutter of his eyelids as he blinks at Mike, mouth twisting into a pout at being interrupted. It’s a beautiful sight, leaving Will so flustered and sweet under his palms, and Mike drinks it in, a giddy smile stretching across his features.
Will whines faintly, tugging at the collar of his shirt until Mike’s lips meet his own again, a gentle press that still manages to send a shudder through Mike’s body. The counter is digging into his back, and it’s uncomfortable if he really thinks about it, but it’s sort of hard to think about anything but Will as he holds him close, runs his hands over Will’s arms, threads his fingers through his hair, traces his tongue over Will’s lower lip.
When they finally part, it’s only by a few centimeters, Will pressing his forehead gently against Mike’s.
“Stay?” Mike asks quietly, even though Will’s made no move to go anywhere else, and it’s not like he’d go far anyway, but he doesn’t know how else to communicate the deep-set feeling in his gut telling him to keep Will close. Like if Will moves away, even if it’s just to stumble off to his room to go to sleep, it will be too much distance.
Will’s mouth ticks upward, and he darts forward to press a quick kiss to the corner of Mike’s lips. “‘Course,” he murmurs, like it’s not a totally nonsensical request, and Mike wonders how it is that Will always knows everything there is to know about him. But then he adds, “Idiot,” and Mike remembers that Will is also just super annoying, all the time, so it all evens out in the end.
“You love me,” he murmurs, and it feels like more of a confession than a confirmation. He’s never said it like that before, even though he knows it’s true. He’s never felt confident or brave enough, but he feels like now, in this quiet little world that exists in the space between his and Will’s lips, he doesn’t need confidence or bravery to know things that are true.
Will smiles. “Yeah,” he confirms, and his hand reaches up to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear. “Yeah, ‘course I do. Happy birthday, Mike.”
Happy birthday indeed, Mike thinks, and catches Will in another kiss.

PJO Show Thoughts. Episode 7: We find out the truth (not)
Alright. I just don't even know. I thought the pacing was marginally better here. Scenes flowed nicer. And I thought the dialogue wasn't so useless.
Yay!!!! Crusty scene!!!!!!
Literally right off the fucking BAT, the first words in the episode are percy explaining exactly what's going to happen, who crusty is, no shenanigans, no mystery, no fun villain scene, nothing. oh my FUCKING GOD, it's every good scene THEY RUIN IT its CRAZY. ACTUALLY CRAZY.
It's the same shit every episode. Oh, fun monster scene where the monster tries to trick them and the fight builds while we figure out who the monster is???? NOPE!!! it's actually complete bullshit. it's ridiculous. where's rick????
Okay I see the red ball. yay!
I'll live with the plot changes even though it sucks. I'll live with it. it's just bad show writing that i'm annoyed with now.
OH MY GOD WHY IS SALLY SUCH A BITCH !!! lolollollL
I did miss the scene were percy bribes charon to let them pass. why change that. why take out a fun bit like that. instead they're like, take everything charon!!! we're so stupid, just let us into the underworld so I can save my mom !!!!!
The cerberus scene was way more complicated than it needed to be lol. but I think the underworld was cool
Back to 3 pearls.... I think rick is just trying to annoy us now.
I do like the flashbacks. My dumbass is just hoping that it all transitions very beautifully into percy's fallen hero arc but these are just my dumb dreams !!!!!!
So annabeth is gone? okay
The root/regret/ thing was completely unnecessary psychology that was stupid
The tartarus, shoe bit was good
"is this our stop, or?" LOL
Hades is weird and awkward and way to cheerful. this god is supposed to be a scorned, jaded ass, lazy, arrogant, bastard, dripping with grease and jealousy and grudges.
DID YALL SEE WHERE HADES WAS LIKE, FOLDING LAUNDRY??? LMAO WHAT
Hades sucks
I just wanted the line, "I'll find your helm, Uncle. I'll return it." nope!!
I guess hades is offering to protect them? because there's going to be a war with kronos and he wants the master bolt for protection ?????? SLOW YOUR ROLL WRITERS. WE'RE NOT FUCKING THERE YET. EVEN WHEN THE WAR WAS A C T I V E L Y occuring hades didn't give a FUCK. whatever. now i'm anger. plus, nothing about how hades sent the furies.... it didn't seem like hades thought percy stole his helm, which was like,,,,, teh whole ass point. jesus christ
Poseidon is meh
Sally is meh
I guess their convo was fine, i didn't mind it. I liked when poseidon was saying that he'll be there for percy, when he knows who he is. Which is cool, even though who percy should "be" is very different to sally. I can't wrap my brain around what the writers want me to be thinking, you know?
no mention again of how they're past the solstice deadline??? you'd think that would have been a bigger deal but OKAY
ares is the best god by far at this point
overall, I really shouldn't be spending so much of my limited free time writing these long posts about the episodes, when I have been getting well, not a whole lot of pleasure watching them. but these characters are still my babies, and I will continue to support the making of the show even though it's blowing chunks. Rick
See yall next week for episode 8: Where's the Damn Fishing Chair Throne

Wish spoilers ahead.
The start of Wish is exactly like that of Encanto but without all the heart. It is literally the meme of "Can I copy your homework?" "Yeah but change a few things so it is not too obvious."
Also Asha deserved a pretty dress in the end like wth are you going to sell to little girls Disney you are all about money and you failed miserably even at that.
And it is for real soooo unfair how the queen did get a pretty dress the whole movie and Asha only got some lazy ass sparkles added to her boring ass dress.
Asha... not bad, ok, but she is copy paste Anna, Mirabel, and Rapunzel. Youtuber ModernGurlz is right about Disney's "adorkable" problem. All their main girls since Rapunzel have the same "quirky" personality save a few details. I have liked them all but it is getting boring. Give me a princess with a monotone, sad personality, give me a shy princess who only smiles and talks around close friends, give me back the classic super girly personality Aurora and Snow White style, give me an angry girl with a brutal sense of humor like Merida. Be creative, please!!!
I love the queen's design, super gorgeous. Too bad her character added nothing. Her help was barely needed since Asha's friend had already sneaked them into the castle and it was her who deciphered the king's magic. A super villain couple would have been way more fun.
Oh, yeah, Asha's friends. There were so-damn-many of them and only like 3 were rememberable or needed for the story.
The villain is a complicated issue. I appreciated Disney's attempt at another fully evil character, I liked how he wasn't yet another badly set up "twist villain" revealed only at the end. But I didn't like the end result that much.
His backstory was super underdeveloped and to "get" his motives better, if they really wanted to make him evil-yet-complex, they should have shown us a flashback of him losing his family Encanto style (They copy pasted the start might as well do the same with the antagonist backstory.
What the hell was the missing piece of tapestry for if it wasn't going to have any significance later on? Did the writers just forget or what even?
Worst part for me: The stakes were low as fuck. Disney doesn't respect its target audience, nowadays it thinks that children can't handle anything worse than a main character getting disappointed. The worst this "super evil" villain does is make people sad temporarily, for like two minutes (Kid you not), like one character stays sad for longer but MOST people in the kingdom seem happy and normal after giving up their wishes, he legit just makes people sad a few minutes (Again, I kid you not, no one dies, the wishes he "eats" to make himself stronger come back, nothing he does has a permanent, devastating effect, he is not even revealed to have killed Asha's father in a dramatic way or something). Yeah he makes people forget their wishes which is pretty sketchy but up to that point he seemed to have complex reasons for that, reasons that seem to disappear or have never even been there the second half of the movie when he magically becomes more evil due to a forbidden green spooky magic he uses, and then suddenly he becomes Maleficent (The cool, perfect villain version, not the woobie one) style evil in a very, very rushed and over the top way. I feel like he should have started up as fully evil with no backstory (Just a simple, Gaston or original Maleficent style, self centered guy, who wants more and more power and adoration), and simply gotten worse and stronger OR given more complexity as to why he became that way, but instead we got this weird thing in between where it is clear he just wants power and love from the people for the sake of it and yet he has this half-made sob story on how his family died.
There was a great lack of originality in this movie at the climax as well. Anyone watched "The little mermaid II"? That was pretty much it. Villain gets power boner, says he will enslave everyone (Worst thing he does in whole movie and yet no one trying to defy him dies at least off screen or gets hurt in any meaningful way). Then heroine saves the day.
The funniest part of this movie is that the villain's fate is worse than anything he ever did in the movie I swear. He gets trapped in a freaking mirror and then locked up in a cell (Similar to the Little mermaid II villain's end too lol). That is straight up torture till death, it is so fucked up. And his wife who literally sees how the green spooky magic is the main thing responsible for his bad day (If we are being honest that is all it was, other than the taking wishes part he seemed to be a good king) leaves him to rot and becomes queen Catherine II style, it is hilarious. Like girl, you turned against your husband like five minutes ago because apparently through decades of seemingly loving marriage, you never knew he was evil but now somehow you are ok with him rotting in solitary confinement till the end of time? So dorky and silly. So bad, so bad.
Lastly, that goat was annoying as hell.

Dating Bane would include:
I'm a pretty intense guy, but I also know how to relax and have fun. I can be a little intimidating at first, but once you get past that initial barrier, I'm actually quite charming. I'm a loyal boyfriend, and I care deeply for my loved ones. When it comes to relationships, I'm all in, and I'm not afraid to show my feelings. I may wear a mask, but underneath it, I'm just a regular guy looking for love.
Well, I guess I should also mention that while I'm not really into partying or the whole nightlife scene, I am a bit of a foodie - I love sampling different cuisines and trying new restaurants. And of course, when it comes to spending time with my partner, I'm always up for a romantic evening at home, just the two of us, cuddling on the couch and watching a good movie or enjoying some homemade treats. I may seem like a tough guy on the outside, but when it's just you and me, I'm a big softie at heart.
My love language is definitely physical touch. I enjoy giving and receiving hugs, kisses, and cuddles. I also enjoy spending quality time with my partner, doing things together and creating memories that we'll cherish for a lifetime. I'm also a big fan of words of affirmation, and I love to compliment my partner and tell them how much they mean to me.
I take care of my body, but I also like to take care of my mind. I am well-educated and well-read, and I love to learn new things and challenge myself intellectually. I am also an avid reader and lover of history, art, and culture. I like to stay up-to-date on current affairs and I like to discuss the issues of the day with my partner. I believe in intellectual honesty and integrity, and I want my partner to be someone I can have deep and meaningful conversations with.
I'm a protector at heart, and I'm always looking out for those I care about, whether it's my partner or my friends and family. I like to be the strong, silent type, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the support and guidance of my loved ones when I need it. I may have a reputation as a tough guy, but underneath it all, I'm just a guy looking for love and companionship. And I know that the right girl will be able to see through the mask and find the real man underneath.
I'm also a great listener and I pay attention to details. I'm attentive and mindful of my partner's needs and desires. I'm always looking for ways to improve myself and be a better partner. Sometimes I'm a bit intense, but I also have a gentle and caring side that loves to spoil and pamper my loved ones.
I'm also a bit of a daredevil and I enjoy living life on the edge. I'm not afraid to take risks and push myself out of my comfort zone. I'm always looking for exciting new experiences and I'm never bored when I'm with my partner. When we're not on an adventure, I enjoy lazy days at home where we can just relax and spend quality time together.
Part of me would love having a partner who could join me in my villainous endeavors. After all, it would be a lot more fun having someone to share my evil schemes with. But another part of me also wants to protect my loved ones from the dangers of the life I lead.
As for my flaws, I'm sometimes a little too serious and don't always let myself have a good time. I can also get a little jealous sometimes, which isn't always a good thing. I'm also pretty devoted to my work, sometimes to the detriment of my personal life. I'm a hard worker, but I'm willing to make time for my loved ones. It's all about balance.
I'm also a bit of a softie when it comes to love, and I have no problem showing it. I'll dote on my partner and shower them with affection. I love to cuddle, and I'll make sure to keep things hot and spicy in the bedroom. I'm a skilled lover, and I take pleasure in being able to satisfy you in all the right ways. That's why I'm the perfect guy for you.
I'm very passionate and intense when it comes to romance and relationships. I'm willing to go above and beyond for the one I love, and I'm not afraid to show my feelings. When it comes to physical affection, I'm definitely the dominant type, but I also know when to back off and give my partner some space. Overall, I'm a pretty great guy to date, and I have the skills necessary to satisfy your every desire
I am a man of few words, but I make up for it in action. I am a master of my body, and I can use it to please your every need. I am relentless when it comes to achieving my objectives, and that includes pleasing you. I have many interests, but when it comes to romance, I am all about you. I am everything you never knew you needed, and together, we can rule this world... or at least the bedroom.
I am a very territorial individual, and I do not like anyone else encroaching on my territory. This includes anyone who might try to take my partner away from me. I am not the kind of person to sit back and watch someone else take what is mine, and if need be, I will use force to protect my claim. I am not someone to be messed with.
When it comes to affection, I am a man of many passions. I enjoy everything from sensual touch to playful flirting to passionate kisses to full-on fiery passion. I am a very physical and sensual being, and I enjoy exploring the depths of my partner's body and soul. I relish every touch and every kiss, and I like to make sure that my partner feels loved and appreciated. When it comes to the bedroom, I am a force of nature and a master of the arts.
I prefer dates that involve physical activity, such as going for a run or going to the gym together. I also enjoy activities that allow us to bond and get closer, like cooking together or doing a romantic getaway. I prefer to keep things simple and active rather than expensive and lavish. I also enjoy going out for drinks or doing something thrilling, like taking a ride on a roller coaster or skydiving. I am definitely not one for dinner and a movie, that's for sure.

I have to said it because is been bothering me for a while, but TOH obsession with "subverting" tropes ("there's no choosen one"/"the Found Family stays together at the end"/"No leaving the new world"), while fine in and on itself, with the way the series presents this subversion it comes across as 'holier than thou' in regards to others stories and it kinds of bothers me.
So what's interesting to me is that as far as subversion goes... It's really dumb, especially the examples you gave. If just straight up not subversive. This is actually an aspect that I'm kind of surprised I haven't discussed yet. Because... TOH isn't subversive mostly. It just acts like it is. Like a big, bold statement like "THERE ARE NO CHOSEN ONES!" has me sitting here, staring at the person before asking, "And?" I mean, especially by the definition that TOH tries to put out there instead of the more general version of chosen ones, how many pieces of media nowadays ACTUALLY have Chosen Ones? I guess one could argue in a way it's a riff on the general isekai genre but Luz is a Chosen One in the same way that most of those protagonists are. They just happened to be the person warped to this world with the ability to save it, or be the person able to gain the ability to save it. Most of them are just a lot more fun with this fact because they don't have a massive stick up their ass about it.
As an example I can think of off the top of my head: Mar. Fucker gains the most powerful item in the realm, has super human capabilities by coming here when he used to be a nerd and, spoilers, his FUCKING FATHER IS THE VILLAIN. And that show still dedicates multiple episodes to him training, him getting his allies, his allies' weaknesses and strengths, the personality he puts into the different forms of the weapon and even the limitations of what he can do with those forms and the fact that he needs to get stronger if he wants a prayer to use it all properly. I mean, how different is stumbling into a cave while running for your life and finding a super weapon in there than being, literally, GIFTED BY GOD your magical powers? Because to me it sounds like the only difference is that one actually has an action and adventure hook to it while the other is basic and comes out of nowhere and is hardly earned. How about the other two? How subversive is the ending to TOH? Not. Just straight up not. The ending of TOH was effectively done by FUCKING INUYASHA. Kagome still has the well between the worlds. Inuyasha is still with her. The others are happy and happy to see her. She can go between as she desires. How different is that from the portal door being permanently accessible for Luz to go between the two realms? Besides going even harder on the wish fulfillment by making Luz's life be in the other world than in the real world? Hell, I don't watch much modern isekai but how many them don't even bring up going home, in part because the character DIED to get there? The only reason people might think of it as a subversion is because of Amphibia and... I don't think it counts as a subversion when the media you're contrasting had a VERY deliberate point with the decision. At that point it's not just a trope, it's the storytelling device that fits with your story. Tropes don't become tropes when they're used for a good purpose. Most people start pointing them as tropes through endless reuse and lazy reuse where the trope is being used but to no real effect other than "This is what a story like this does." And this sort of interrogation is actually required for a lot of TOH's subversions and why I agree that it REEKS of ego. It's also why, even if the creators actually do really like fantasy, it feels like they really don't like fantasy in how they write it. A contrast between my own work and TOH: In the chapter where the human character who knows very little of the world meets Pythia, an angel, she makes a comment about that meaning there being God or Heaven and everyone just kind of stops to look at her until she realizes how stupid that must sound to the demon, dryad and ice demon that are surrounding her, none of whom came from a tree or Hell. But it's grounded in the character's ignorance, the fact that magic is just a fact of the world and they MOVE ON. It's playing into the fantasy of the world for the comedy, not specifically you needing to know the reference. Compare that to the stupidity of the Quidditch reference. Specifically the Golden Snitch. Not only does Boscha say ALL fantasy sports require this sort of BS which is just frankly not true, the fact that Grudgy is already just Quidditch without broomsticks is real bad for making their lack of creativity here more pointed. And Luz doesn't let it go. She loses it for at least thirty seconds, if not even longer, about how stupid that is. That it is trying to lampshade what it just did by over explaining the joke because AREN'T WE CLEVER FOR POINTING OUT HOW STUPID THIS IS!? When it's really just a Harry Potter thing as far as my memory of fantasy works go. Especially within the past twenty years.
And then there's the final version I hate the most: The one that damages its own story. I've talked about this before with how Bill of the Titan Hunters just MURDERS any and all tension in that episode. You cannot take anything happening seriously after that because you can't question if King is going to stay here, because they're obviously fakes or their leader would be taken seriously and you can't be worried about everyone's safety because their leader is a fucking joke about convoluted fantasy names. Which frankly, once you hear like Norwegian names or the like where Magnus is just a regular ass first name, it kind of comes as mean and very American in the worst ways. But it's not the only time. They use this joke a LOT. It sometimes works like the monster hunter who's dreamed of throwing kids off of cliffs but it's EVERY villain besides Belos effectively. Hell, one could claim it's almost any authority figure besides Belos and MAYBE Bump if you're really kind to the writing of Bump. They're all jokes and they're all the same joke of laughing at the audience for expecting them to be serious. Looking Glass Ruins frankly makes no sense once you meet the librarian. Amity and the animation and the like really sell him as this mysterious figure who may hoard knowledge or be too worried about it being misused to even talk to Luz about letting her borrow the journal. It's classic fantasy storytelling and there's nothing wrong with that. Frankly the biggest issue before the reveal is how boring the forbidden section is because... I mean all Amity and Luz do in that episode is either stand and talk or lay and talk and then a cheek kiss. They aren't bad conversations but it de-emphasizes the magic and outside of fueling fanfiction these aren't the most engaging conversations, especially since Amity isn't questioning that the portal could mean anything but good for the two of them and some sort of portal angst between them might have been nice. *sigh* But again, it all works... Until you find out the librarian is a stoner dude. A well voice acted one that actually got a snort out of me when he was first revealed but has always left a lingering question: Why couldn't they have asked him about the journal? He seems entirely reasonable. He didn't take the journal from them despite them trespassing and while Luz had to perform trials to get Amity her badge back, getting the badge back was still an option. It gives the impression that if they had just been actual human beings and talked to him, because it's not like they have a reason to not trust him or authority in general besides the EC, the whole episode would have been avoided. And yes, nitpick theoretically but they make it a big reveal about the fact that he isn't scary.
And as I've talked before, the more emphasis you put on something as clever, the more it needs to hold up to scrutiny. And when the threat of the librarian is the only thing causing tension in that half of that episode, it murders the ability to rewatch it because you can't enjoy that dread again. Not because you know the outcome but because you can never forget that this is all pointless because the animation is effectively lying to you. There's no explanation for why he looks a Ring Wraith of some sort so... Why? Quick admission though: This trick did get a smile out of me with the Titan. I suspect I'd like it even more if it didn't feel like the dozenth time TOH has presented someone who should be taken seriously as a joke but at least with him, it's also characterization. He's a dad. King was actually indicative of who he wanted to be and never got to be so he's more laid back than you'd expect and acting like a dad. It's EXTREMELY charming for the like... thirty seconds I've seen of him. No idea if I'd felt the same way if I were actually watching the episode especially since The Collector right before then drives me up a fucking wall with his "I'm going to pretend I'm five instead five thousand," routine.
It's almost frankly bizarre how much of TOH's issues all revolve this same concept though: A lack of care with what the statement being said is actually doing to their narrative and an overwhelming amount of ego that is hard to shake. And in a genre like subversive comedy, where you are going to sound like an ass regardless to someone (there's a reason it's to hard to write parodies, many of which have literally made every joke TOH has), you have to be ON POINT for it not to bite you in the ass. 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 12 for HIM please
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
He’s fun! He’s evil! He’s fabulous! Who can’t like Him? It’s cool that, as a villain of Townsville, he’s the most serious kind that you can get, and it’s neat that the girls have a villain that’s dedicated to basically just screwing with their brains instead of pulling heists for material possessions like the rest usually do… but I do appreciate when he’s less, like… ~dark and edgy~ evil and more just messing around with the girls’ minds in ultra kooky, goofy ways for his own amusement (like making them take the SATs or conducting choo-choo trains or threatening to drop their teacher into a vat of boiling sharks, all while smiling… you can tell that my fave episode with Him is Him Diddle Riddle, haha).
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
I really like how mysterious and foreboding he is, specifically in the earliest episodes. The show used to air late at night, so sometimes when I rewatch episodes like Octi Evil and Tough Love (and it’s not a Him episode but I feel this BIG TIME with Abracadaver) I can remember being in the family room with all the lights off, sitting in front of the TV, watching them for the first time, and the whole nighttime ambiance made the episodes (and Him in particular) just all the more creepy and evil in my kid mind. He’s got a special unsettling feeling to him that feels lost later on in the last two seasons that aired (they also got rid of his obscure pink house/lair/hell realm that I always held a fondness for… the Dadaesque dimension they designed later kind of sucks and isn’t nearly as creepy).
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
He brought back the Rowdyruff Boys… why? Couldn’t he think of anything original? People think he’s so evil for resurrecting them (and in a way… true, because they’re not great characters) but I think he was just lazy. 🥱 He should have opened a mirror nightmare portal to unleash the Powerpunk Girls instead!
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
His hellish theme music!
youtube
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
There have been loooooooooots of super cool fanart and cosplays of Him! It’s always fun to see how people interpret him in different styles, and when I see a Him at a convention it’s always magical. 🔥✨
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Hmm… well, I have my headcanon that he and Sedusa and Mojo are all best frenemies that like to go have self care days and chill out at the mall with each other, if that counts? 😆
#powerpuff girls#ppg#him#ask game#KEEP THE REQUESTS COMING I’ll do them until no characters or questions are left unanswered lmao
