i can't stand not posting sometimes because these guys are in my head 24/7 so here are some drafts ^^

keep in mind that none of these are 100% set in stone, some things can change in the future so i'm just brainstorming for now :)

TL;DR: i’m going to drop all of the billford reblogs ive been too scared to make over the years, block #triangle divorce if you don’t want to see it, peace and love.

You know, from early days of fandom harassment over billford, i’ve gotten into the habit of, rather then reblogging billford posts to call attention to myself, liking them and then saving them to my drafts so i can enjoy my collection without anyone judging me. This has been going on for a LONG time, and by now i have a MASSIVE hoard of billford art and memes and posts that i’ve just… been holding on to? And i’m starting to feel like i should maybe try catering my blog a little more to myself then to people willing to block me over toxic old man yaoi.

It’s been WILD seeing billford trend number one for MULTIPLE WEEKS IN A ROW, especially when nobody is even acknowledging the whole ‘portrayal is romanticization’ thing that was the common view of top gravity falls artists for…. Years? Even with the revival, i’m STILL just adding things to my hoard rather then reblogging them. It’s hard not to get over the fear of judgement.

But i’ve realized that this is my blog, and i get to choose the post, and maybe being disliked by a couple of strangers on the internet won’t kill me. So, as a birthday gift, i have decided that I will open the billford vault. I am cueing up every post to release at the exact same second. I will not tell you when it will be. Could be tonight, could be next month. I’ll only make sure its when you least expect it.

You can, however, be safe from the Hoard by blocking the #triangle divorce tag, if you don’t like the ship for any reason (all valid!!!) or if you just don’t want to see it for whatever reason its fine!

Im gonna be rbing billford normally after this but ill always use that tag. Also if you are a minor and you follow me and you haven’t already PLEASE block the #18+ tag. Either way i’m totally cool with whatever you do or don’t engage with, i’m doing this for me and to face my own anxieties and i totally get that what i like is not for anyone!

Obligatory no i don’t ship it because i think they could be ‘wholesome’, yes i know its abusive, yes i think its one of the realist portrayals of an abusive relationship in media and that is the appeal. I don’t ‘ship’ things because i think characters should be together, romance doesnt even really appeal to me, mainly for arospec reasons. i like ships for Angst, Horror, and Crack, and billford has all of the above. It’s one of the only ships i care about in any fandom. I don’t think it should be treated any differently then normal horror. And i also love ford’s recovery from bill arc and learning to move on more than anything.

I’ve been seeing this take more and more often among people I would consider friends/closely acquainted comrades, and I strongly disagree. It’s kind of worrying, actually. I’d wanted to address this earlier, and even started drafting this post weeks ago, but unfortunately stress + ADHD made me unable to actually finish writing it until now.

I remember seeing a similar sentiment around here from this following set of answers to anons. I hadn’t wanted to say anything about those answers at the time, because I was triggered and distressed, and thought it wasn’t really important enough of an issue to make a fuss about. But I think I’ll talk about it now, and I’ll also take this chance to address these in the same post, because they run on similar faulty logics.

The first ask:

Most people I’ve come across agreed with me that abuse is bad. We just defined abuse differently. And that, together with how sensationalized the concept of abuse is and how easily people get aggressive at the slightest implication that they support abuse, makes me not want to use this word as often. There are other ways to say the same thing.

(I’m aware that this might make the OPs feel attacked. To clarify, I don’t intend this as an attack of some sort, just as a way to air my disagreements and frustrations and possibly provide useful information or arguments. Usually I don’t say anything at all when a friend/close acquaintance says something which I find problematic, because I don’t want to make people mad/upset at me, and feel like nobody would agree anyway. I’m not mad and don’t want any apologies; just bringing up points for consideration.)

It’s very important to me that people do not confuse what “should” be done from what “can” be done. It’s true, for example, that it’s difficult to truly have control over who reuses your designs you post to Tumblr. That doesn’t, however, make it wrong for you to wish for your creations to be reshared in respectful and ethical ways. Is it actually wrong for someone to violate a “do not use this if you are X”? I don’t know; the ethical considerations surrounding boundaries regarding non-direct interactions like these are far more ambiguous and difficult to determine. That doesn’t mean, however, that we should use doomer arguments—the logic of “you can’t enforce this, which is why you should not expect (want) people to respect this” itself can be applied to anything. Including boundaries that are much more obviously obligatory to respect. Leaving this open is dangerous. A similar set of arguments applies to DNIs in general.

And is it wrong for, say, a bigot to interact with a marginalized person who says “people bigoted against my identity DNI”? IMO, yes, but not really because I’d say “all DNIs are always inherently wrong to violate”; it’s because a bigot, with the beliefs they hold, makes those marginalized people unsafe. But the very same DNIs that are (pretty much) most unambiguously unethical to cross are also the ones which are hardest to enforce, because by definition bigots do not care about the boundaries of marginalized people. But, using this to argue against DNIs as a whole misunderstands the reason why many people say “[bigoted group] DNI.” They know that it’s not really enforceable without a block, but it sends a message: that this is what they want, and it indicates what they believe, and that they are likely hostile to bigotry. The same logic applies to abuse apologia.

This is in no way the same as things like “basic DNI criteria” or “DNI shitheads.” “Basic DNI criteria” and “shitheads” are nebulous, basically impossible to define universally, because they can’t be the same among everyone; they're by themselves vague and extremely subjective. But “abuse” is not such a term. Abuse is possible (arguably easy!) to define objectively, and one should expect people to adhere to a single definition of “abuse” (and believe that it exists). Of course most people don't agree on what constitutes “abuse”—and that is a problem, actually! Most people are abuse apologists; that’s not a good thing. Of course most people aren't the type of edgelord that’s unironically supportive of what they personally believe does constitute “abuse.” That doesn’t mean they’re not actually pro-abuse though; it means they’re wrong thinking some abuse isn’t real abuse. But the solution to that is not to cater to their abuse apologia, to coddle them and refuse to tell them the truth for the sake of some liberal ideals of “tolerance” for a “diversity of opinions.” Some opinions are not valid! Some opinions are harmful!

Bigots (in general) use the exact same tactics, rejecting labels like “racist” or “homophobe” when they’re accused of being such, because they don't believe what they’re promoting or doing “counts” as “real” bigotry or oppression. That doesn’t mean they're right about that. It also does not mean that people should stop saying “I don’t want [bigots] here” because “well what about the [un-self-aware bigots]!!” (They are un-self-aware bigots, not people who just happen to have a neutrally different and equally valid opinion on what constitutes bigotry.)

Ceding that the definition of abuse can reasonably/should be relativized is what abuse-relativizers (and abuse advocates/abusers in general) have been cheering on since forever. They believe that “abuse” is “simply a word to indicate nebulous individual feelings of perceiving Bad Things” because they support abuse and don’t view it as a serious issue specifically defined by exploitation of power/violation of autonomy which is inherently unethical, and view victims as lying, overreacting, contemptible, and unreliable witnesses to or interpreters of our own lives. They apply this view to victims/survivors all the time, dismissing our concerns as simply “subjective feelings” or Moral(tm) Judgment(tm), and cast this labeling as “demonization.”

The term abuse is “sensationalized” in most people’s minds BECAUSE of pervasive abuse culture and pro-abuse attitudes. Of course many people only believe that Actually Extremely Bad actions are “abusive”—they don’t have a good understanding of what abuse is! That is a very bad thing! It is one of the most important factors in making most abuse go undetected and most victims unsupported! (Meanwhile, the actual problem with the anon’s statement and beliefs went unaddressed, missing out on a useful opportunity, because the responder decided to focus completely on the wrong problem.)

I can’t really take this (the responses to the asks) as just some sort of personal preference indicator regarding terminology and comfort levels. It’s clearly a capitulation to abuse culture that fundamentally misunderstands the dynamics at play, and ultimately reinforces these problems.

Yes, much of abuse victim advocacy advises that (at first) you should not directly use the term “abuse” when telling someone that the abusive behaviors they’ve experienced were wrong or that their abuser is harming them. But that has never been a call to keep doing that forever, perceiving avoiding the term “abuse” (them having internalized their abuser’s abusive rhetoric) as some sort of good thing. It’s a crucial part of healing and breaking free from abuse to be able to understand that the abuse was in fact “abuse” and that abusers are abusers.

The word “abuse” is language extremely important to victims/survivors and anti-abuse activists. Abuse apologists’ fear of/aggressive opposition to being labeled abusers is a clear indicator and product of their own ignorance, entitlement, and oppressive ideologies. That makes it even more important to confront their problematic rhetoric and lack of understanding instead of defanging our ability to analyze and critique power dynamics and advocate for ourselves.

Everywhere I look I see people wanting to water down, co-opt, or constrain the language developed and used by survivors because nothing will satisfy them but, ultimately, complete silence. Everywhere people seem allergic to the term “abuse,” complaining that it is “too strong a word” and maybe you shouldn’t use it? I mean it’s kind of harsh/mean/too extreme/subjective/exaggerating/hysterical isn’t it? Just pick a different word!!! (No word ever truly satisfies.) I’m fucking tired of this bullshit and I don’t want traces of it to stick in places where I am supposed to feel safe and have my issues and my needs understood too.

fascinated by the amount of drafts you have! is there any system?

my drafts are a mess lol. but there is a method to the madness i suppose.

the primary purpose (not the sole purpose, but the primary) of my tumblr is to be a repository of things i might want to look at again later. so when i reblog something, it needs indexing tags. it's almost always pointless for me to reblog something without them. sounds simple, but i have at minimum hundreds of indexing tags in active use and no actual list of them anywhere, so i have to 1) remember what they are and then 2) figure out which ones are relevant to the post at hand. i did once try to make a list of indexing tags but got overwhelmed, and in any case that's only half the problem.

my likes (i'll get to drafts in a moment) are a way for me to flag things that i might want to reblog later but which i can't reblog now because a) i need to read and think about and verify them first, b) i need to figure out what indexing tags to use, c) i have something to say and don't have the time currently, d) they need IDs and i don't have time to look for or write any right now, and/or e) i'm on a device that makes it hard to rb stuff. (occasionally i will like something to signal to the op, rber, or person who tagged me that i saw it, but this accounts for a small percentage of my likes.) then when i have some time and a good setup, i'll go through the most recent page of my likes and queue stuff from it, unliking posts as i queue them to make way for posts i haven't queued yet.

the thing about likes is that they send a notification to the op and the person whose rb i was looking at that i "liked" the post, which can mean different things to different people because not everyone uses likes the way i do. this can be awkward if i decide not to rb the post, depending on what the post is and/or who the op and rber are, so sometimes i don't want to send any indication of having seen a post unless i decide to rb it. if that's the case, i'll stick it in drafts, because that doesn't send a notif to anybody.

i have 448 drafts and over 4500 likes. obviously my system is not perfect because i like things faster than i can reblog them, since rbing is such a fucking production in this household lol. so i also use drafts as a kind of super-like, posts i would like except i know i won't be able to rb them in the near future and i really don't want them to get buried 200 pages deep in my likes where i'll never find them again. 500 or so drafts isn't an impossible number to page back through, and i do do that occasionally with my drafts. i could never do that with my likes.

i sometimes put multiple posts around the same topic/for the same purpose in drafts so i can rb or queue them all at once. basically i use likes to flag things for myself to deal with later, but there are so many of them i need a way to EXTRA flag things. that's what drafts are for.

i also just write new posts and then don't post them because i am not done with them yet, aka the actual purpose of drafts lol.

You always casually mention how you were supposed to be a tss blog and apologize for not being, (and that's good, if straying from tss makes you happy then you should do that!) and I never really understood why you kept apologizing, because I don't think anyone minds, but then I understood that feeling because as soon as I started reblogging more Sam and Max stuff than tss stuff, I felt the same thing as you did.

For some reason, both unknown to me and the universe, I felt the need to apologize for doing something so innocent as reblogging stuff that makes me happy that doesn't necessarily affect other people the same way. And in this moment of clarity in my room (at 1 am when I should be sleeping, mind you ahdjksjd), I looked at my tumblr notifications, I saw your name and I went:

"Huh. I guess I understand you now. I also guess we should both stop apologizing for making ourselves happier, because I don't think neither of us have nothing to be sorry for, we're both just reblogging stuff that makes us happy! I guess I wish we both understood that. :/"

It’s so wild how I, and you too probably, have gotten to this point. I came here for tss content and the fandom is kinda fading out cause there’s not much content, and that ok! Now I’m here chilling with my assorted fandoms and funny posts! You have Sam and Max (I have no idea what it is but I see you rbing stuff and it makes me really happy to see that you’re doing that!!) and other cool things that make you happy!!! ShTH doesn’t happen. Shadow doesn’t get Zombotted. So....lol I basically just make up my own canon of things I like tbh

Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  If you’re tired of SEGA trying to make Shadow into the asshole he is today and you were also tired of super bland-ass cardboard Shadow....welcome to my blog. Shadow’s a good guy, he just doesn’t know how to show it and he’s trying to atone for his previous fuck-ups. He’s someone who constantly struggles with his past despite trying to move past it and into a better life, despite his claims of ‘moving on’ and he is--but he’s still got lots of guilt. He is sharp edges with a heart of gold and an arrogant grin to back it up.

Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  — After SA2 SEGA decided to make Shadow the epitome of the :| emoji and have no personality, and recently they’ve made him a shitty person and undone pretty much any sense of character development he had--his promise to Maria to protect people? Down the drain in favor of his “fucc u sonic” attitude when REALLY Shadow would never put something as petty as that above Maria. Any arrogance, any sense of ‘edge’ and ‘cool’ to Shadow? Gone. God damnit.

What inspired you to rp your muse? — Literally just being mad about how SEGA has written Shadow and feeling like I could do better lol

What keeps your inspiration going? —  Growing up with Sonic, mostly? I know almost everything about the series and being able to create new lore and cherrypick the bits of canon I like to make a new world is just...really fun.

Do you think you give your character justice?  YES (I can definitely improve in some areas but I know I can write Shadow well at this point) / NO / I SINCERELY HOPE I DO? Do you frequently write headcanons?  Sometimes; with headcanons I usually need some seed of inspiration to hit me and then all these ideas hit me at once and I can’t shut up. Usually RBing headcanon asks helps. Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO Are you confident in your portrayal? YES / NO / SORT OF? (anxiety) Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO. Are you a sensitive person? YES / NO. / SORTA. Do you accept criticism about your portrayal?  —  Always. On things that are actually important. If someone’s gonna criticize my Shadow for being too SA2-y or too canon-divergent or they’re gonna have an issue with ShTH not being canon on my blog? Boi go find another Shadow blog, there’s literally no shortage of us, he’s the most popular character in the franchise behind Sonic himself.

If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  Oh always. Shadow has gone through 34852934 different portrayals and I am interested to see what my fellow Shadow-muns think about his writing or the differences in their headcanons. I have an issue with the term ‘disagree,’ because it’s headcanon--not actual canon...we all just have different opinions and that’s fine

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? — I’d be kind of frustrated, because I’m very straight-up in my doc about how my Shadow doesn’t adhere to any one canon and he’s not going to be the version of Shadow you’ve seen in modern portrayals because I DON’T LIKE THAT VERSION OF SHADOW. So it just shows an absolute disregard for my rules and my Google Doc.

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? — Shadow’s an overrated character and I’ll be the first to say it but he’s MY overrated character and I’m tired of the needless hate on him for him being a dramatic bitch

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? — Fuck proofreading. Go for it but also...why bother lol. They’re there. Usually my grammar’s good so I don’t care.

heyy not to be standoffish or rude, and im sorry if i come across that way, but people mayi a not have known you prefer folk to rb from the source w memes, cuz you frequently rb from people who arent the source yourself. l always rb from the source, cuz i can’t remember who prefers what, but as long as ive been here youve had a habit of rbing from not-the-source yourself, so folk probably applied that same standard to themselves when interacting w you

//sorry, i was at work so i didn’t chance to respond to this til now - first of all, hello; nice to meet you, or at least i’d say that if you’d hadn’t gone on anon for this (please just come into my ask box; like...you don’t have to hide - i’m not going to do much of anything beyond talk to you)

secondly, i actually post memes via the queue system, and i generally comb through my queue once a week to make sure i’m reblogging from the source as often as possible - in instances where i pull them from a meme blog, there are chances they’re not the OP, but i tend to give those a pass as those are meme sourcing blogs; the ones i occasionally pull off of the blogs of mutuals, i try to go as far back in the reblog chain as i’m capable of - lots of people have deactivated making going back to the original source material not possible.

i honestly try to go as far back as i can so i don’t clog people’s feeds as i admit, a few years ago, i was terrible about this - it took a long time mutual and friend requesting me to stop to give me the kick in the pants i needed to make a concerted effort, and goodness i do try; hence why i comb through my queue once a week - to check for slip ups.

recently however, several blogs i don’t follow and have never interacted with have been reblogging a lot of memes from me - to the point i lost track of several threads and had to do some serious digging to track them back down and add them to my drafts; which was what prompted my post in the first place as it’s gotten to a point of ridiculousness

so again, i will request of those following me to please reblog memes from the source and i will continue to try and do the same - if you’d like to talk with me privately about this, please feel free to message me off anon.
