when i get especially depressed or dysphoric it all bubbles up in the form of internalised transmisoginy™ and bitterness towards the trans community and i end up thinking/saying really horrible things about other trans girls. never, like, to them, i'm not that terrible, but like... just saying awful stuff like "oh god my worst fear is that after transition I look like the kind of trans girl i see selfies of on my timeline." and you know, when ive said that then anything else i say venting about dysphoria inherently also comes with the implication that it's an insult against how other tgirls look... and, like, i come out of it eventually and just go "what the fuck was i on, all these girls are pretty" but it's really horrible, these depressive episodes can last for weeks at a time, and the negativity perpetuates them and makes them last longer, and every time i feel like a traitor to my community.

even outside of "terrible person" mode, i feel like a traitor (or at least an outsider) in the community just becauase I really don't enjoy being trans. Everyone else seems to be having fun with it (and when they're not the complaints are about soceity's treatment of them, not about being trans itself) and im just here like "idk what game you guys are playing, but this fucking sucks. im miserable." It makes me really sick of seeing trans positivity posts.

but then it's a thing where it's like, any trans positivity post rings hollow to me, but at the same time trans negativity posts (mainly talking about transmisoginy and how it affects us) jsut makes me more depressed and can likely send me into another depressive episode. Ugh.

wrt the male loneliness epidemic bs i think it's important to discuss how strongly the current western state of affairs isolates everyone. not "just" men. the thing is that men believe they are entitled to their loneliness being amended by women. and when feminism began to show that women didn't have to suffer being in that position, instead of making certain to be someone people (women included) would want to be around, already-radicalized men hated those women, and non-radicalized men became prime targets of radicalization. that's what, in praxis, it means to be a feminist man (or an ally, or a deconstructed masculinity), though: it entails giving up that which you believe is owed to you by virtue of being a man. that's why deconstructed masculinities are as much of a goal as empowered feminities and trans identities.

so, to summarize. men are lonely because everyone is. capitalism, white supremacy, misogyny and other axis of the kyriarchy are set in motion to retain status quo by punishing community and solidarity. men are not especially touched by this phenomenon. but since there is a dissonance between what they were promised by patriarchy and what they effectively access in this case their entitlement flares up, ravenous for upholding the patriarchal edict of "men must be tended to by women, in detriment of women"

there is a general loneliness epidemic. it just so happens that it impugns pre conceived promises of the patriarchy. the answer should in every case be to build community and form bonds that enable us to struggle against isolation and individualism; never to demand that another person or a collective tends to our needs in their own detriment.

Gods I feel you I'm only 10 hours in after having received the game as a gift and I REALLY try to like it but it just ... doesn't feel like Dragon Age. Characters know stuff they shouldn't know about, the game keeps talking down to me, nothing I did in the previous games mattered, the tone is completely different, the mature storytelling of the previous games seems to be missing so far & what I heard so far of how the lore and the characters from previous games have been handled is honestly the worst part and breaks my heart. idk even if i wanna finish the game at this point anymore, I'm just kinda ... sad.

I'm so sad and disappointed, too, I remember our conversations, fics, and headcanons about DA! We were so excited and happy, because Inquisition, DA2, and DAO were genuinely well-made and aimed at pleasing the fans, despite their faults.

DATV is a good action game, no doubt about that. The combat is fun, there is a lot to explore and discover, and many locations are beautiful, even though some are terrible to navigate (Dock Town's structure makes no sense). But that's it - it's a good action game with the name "Dragon Age" pasted on it. It doesn't feel like it's part of the series, it constantly treats the player like an idiot, some references to past games and characters are literally hidden in the brief descriptions of the mementos, and there is even a Glossary to make sure the new players don't get frustrated.

Everything is safe and aseptic, cleaned of every deep piece of lore that could have scared new fans into buying or continuing the game. Even the banters lack the depth of the previous games.

A good game company should lure new players in not by rejecting their past entries, but by making them look even more interesting with their sequels.

Bioware wasn't afraid of offering piece of lore after piece of lore in Inquisition - it was a game set in a precise moment, whose prologue was directly tied to the events of the previous game, and new players had to accept this if they decided to buy it and play it. If they liked that premise, all that information and those details, then they were more than welcome - they were encouraged! - to go back, try the older games, and see how it had all started. It was a game made for the fans the company had already managed to win over, not for possible fans who may or may not bring new money in.

In DATV the new players can jump right in after quickly learning who Solas is and what he's trying to do, and old fans are left with an empty shell, with minor references that are supposed to make us feel happy and accomplished peppered here and there, while all our past choices and our favorite characters are forgotten or brought back with a terrible case of amnesia. It's lazy, infuriating, and very sad, and it smells of reboot, because the new devs probably realized they couldn't keep up with the amount of lore and choices the series contain, and they needed to start anew.

the next big issue: this tankie, who is a white woman that lives in California, made an outrageous claim that Angela Davis wasn't a true member of the Black Panthers & now the explosive & entirely valid conversations about racism & white supremacy exist even in leftist spaces are taking that area by storm.

black women have been talking about it quite a bit & by now they're annoyed because it sounds like they're defending Kamala Harris even though they may not like her or her policies even if they may be voting for her anyways or not.

Actually final note on No Mercy Chara characterization. There is exactly one person that they are passive aggressive and judging with.

They’re pretty judgey with Frisk/the Player, and can occasionally say things which can be read as insults. But also interestingly, even this is pretty rare, happening only three times I can remember as being specifically ‘things like insults’, and is mostly discussing how ‘you’ supposedly feel. Maybe it’s revealing of their own personality and tendency of being critical, perhaps Frisk really does feel bad over the spilled candy and the Sans fight. (Despite willingly going through with said Sans fight regardless.) 

But people that others seem to believe Chara would be most critical or hateful towards, or depict them as having strong feelings towards, Toriel, Sans, Asgore, Flowey... they really have nothing to say to them.
