Ray's After Ending is so funny because for a good chunk of it, most of the RFA members are knocked out by V's sleeping gas (Saeran is immune, Saeyoung isn't present bc he was kidnapped by his agency under his father's orders and MC wakes up in like an hour) but the game has a call feature where you can call the characters and it would be a waste if you couldn't use it bc the characters were unavailable so instead they have other people pick up the call (Jumin's driver picks up Jumin's phone, Jumin's father picks up Zen's phone, Yoosung's friends and mom pick up Yoosung's phone and Jaehee's coworkers pick up Jaehee's phone) and we do get to learn about the characters from outsider's point of view but it's so funny to me that these people are visiting their loved ones and suddenly the phone rings and they decide to just. answer it. and start talking to this stranger they've never met

Both of the premises of Ouran and RFA are to appease people (Ouran is more female oriented tho). They both solely exist for the sake of providing happiness to others and stuff.

I think Jumin and Kyoya are quite similar. So I could totally see them discussing business plans with their fathers and shit like that haha then maybe Jumin could ask about Ouran Academy and what curriculars they have (for advertising?? idk lol) and then Kyoya mentions subtly about helping people in the Host Club.

So then maybe the Host Club decides to sponsor RFA and thus begins their journey 2gether!!!

I kinda suck at these types of things but the fun part is when the characters MEET TOGETHER!!!

Jumin and Kyoya as mentioned earlier are already cooperating with their respective businesses and stuff. I don't think either of them would open up or anything, but they're kind of similar in a way? Straight to the point, communicative in ideas and mostly likes to start new projects ehe >_<

Tamaki and ZEN would be a good duo as well, with Zen actually attracting more customers to the Host Club which makes Tamaki feel that their purpose is being successful!!! They would talk about entertaining people (and how grateful it makes them feel to keep their fans happy). They'd be blabbering about how beauty is important etc. etc.

JAEHEE AND HARUHI I'VE BEEN WANTING TO TALK ABOUT THEM FOR SO LONG AHHHH. Ok ok THEY'RE SO SIMILAR DOWN TO THEIR PERSONALITY, THEIR PATIENCE, THEIR DEDICATION *AND* also did I mention they look super similar to LIKE THE HAIR RAHHH!! But ahemm... Anyways. I feel like they'd get along on how their friend group is always being crazy and they're both basically the voice of reason/mom friend (tho they'll not say this all the time but they care for them so much and everything they do they want them to be safe and susjsksksk)

Honey Senpai and Yoosung tbh. I can see Yoosung practicing baking and creating pastries and cakes just for Honey Senpai (the ultimate taste tester) to try it out (maybe Haru and Jaehee could bake for both of them too XD). I can see Yoosung asking help from Honey (despite their age difference lol) since the maturity levels kind of differ. (I'm not very well versed in Honey's personality so plz forgive me T_T)

Mori Senpai... I feel like maybe he'll get along with V or something? Lol. Both are kind of the protectors of the gang(??? Ok I'm just making up bullshit at this point). Mori doesn't speak much and neither does V (in the chatroom atleast) soo.. Lololol. V could appreciate Mori's dedication to help anyone in the club while the former just nods lol

HIKARU AND KAORU TIME BABYYY!!! They'd trick Seven for sure but with some wit Seven would be able to differentiate between the two. The twins would joke around and get along with Seven since they have crazy humour together (and maybe Seven wishes, he was as close as they were, with Saeran)

but i dont know what to do in this route or if its normal. i mean you'd think it would be if the game hasnt ended yet but like sometimes it kind of gets drawn out imo waiting for the next chatrooms since its all like real time shit (haha hello if anyones reading this who doesnt know what mysme is, it works in real-time. like morning chatrooms happen in the morning and if youre late to them youre late and can only read through the msgs and not interact. and to progress through the story you need hearts from characters so you actually need to be there and respond lOl.) it gets tiring in that im not a very social person and when i wake up i just want to not do anything for a few hours. but i kind of have to get up cause very important discussions :sob: (it doesnt help that i literally stay up till 6 am, go to sleep, wake up in the afternoon.. thats my awake hours. i am so not a morning person.)

Jaehee: she's cool and really nice but I don't think I can connect well with her. I can't see us being close beyond our relationship as the RFA members. But I do want to whisk her away to a healthy work environment and shower her with Zen merch

Yoosung: sometimes I get annoyed at him, but when he's not blaming V without evidence or comparing me to Rika, he's all right

Saeyoung: such a fun friend to have. His tsundere defense mechanism of pushing me away with harsh words is a huge dating dealbreaker tho. I also get protective over V when he beats him up what can I say I put my man first

Saeran: (I'm wary of admitting this because people love him) as Ray his codependency alarms me and as Suit Saeran he starves me and is verbally cruel and physically aggressive at one point. I know he's traumatised, but respectfully I don't want to go through all that and wait for him to treat me better just because I ~believe~ the nice him is in there somewhere. Then as GE Saeran he's just too..... sweet......

Vanderwood: neutral. I find him bland. Whenever he comes out I'm just like oh, 707's sidekick (he'd kick me if he heard this)

Rika: I don't like abusive characters in general. Her villainy also seems two-dimensional and the sun metaphors are exhausting.

Jung Heewon is the bartender at a bar and always puts aside extra food for the KDJ bc he only ever buys a soda but he still likes sitting at her bar. (He’s just waiting for his bus)

Lee Hyunsung is Yoo Joonghyuk’s friend and Jung Heewons husband. He’s coming back from the army and he’s always looking to try new foods bc he’s sick of army meals. (He sits at the bar and makes friends with Kim Dokja)

Lee Seolhwa is a doctor, of course, who tells Kim Dokja he should eat more after he collapses from exhaustion one time. He’s also Yoo Joonghyuk’s ex, except they broke up over unreconcible differences (food matters to YJH and she just needs to get her vitamins and protein—doesn’t care about food)

Lee Jihye considers Yoo Joonghyuk a culinary genius and is trying to become his student. She has beef with Kim Namwoon.

Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung are KDJ’s neighbors who he usually offers a lame meal to whenever they drop by. Their dissatisfaction (poorly hidden bc they’re kids) launches him on a journey to become a better adult and cook.

Which brings us to how they truly unite…. They all (excluding the Lee Gilyoung, Shin Yoosung, and Lee Seolwha) decide to take a cooking class (not together it’s just an anime coincidence) and Yoo Joonghyuk, who’s sponsor forced him to have one, is the teacher of the class.

They all bond and find their lives more entangled then they originally thought and there is love and happiness and excitement and you know what, for the sake of plot, kdj hasn’t met any of them yet except for Han Sooyoung who he met when he was living vicariously through her food reviews. It’s only after their first class that kdj stops by Heewons bar and chats with Yoo Sangah and befriends Hyunsung.

Kim Dokja, because of his smart mouth, makes himself the target of Yoo Joonghyuk’s frustration and Yoo Mia ussuallu sits in a corner and does homework and makes little snide remarks.

Reasons why they took the class:

Han Sooyoung— bored, wants to take the piss at Yoo Joonghyuk, also she made KDJ take it with her when he mentioned being bad at cooking

Yoo Sangah— bc she has the time and the urge to improve in every facet of her life

Jung Heewon— was told by the bar owner that she sucked at cooking and she needs proof (a certificate of completion) that she knows how to work in a kitchen

Lee Hyunsung— just came back from the army, didn’t want to not spend time with his wife, thought it could be a couple thing

Lee Jihye— r u kidding me when she found out YJH was hosting a class she signed up FAST

Kim Namwoon- same but he mainly wants to piss Lee Jihye off

Of course as the anime progresses, we have:

— Yop Sangah and Han Sooyoung becoming culinary academic rivals, (with Yoo Sangah

— KDJ Getting ugly allegations, bc he’s always sloppy tired after work…

— KDJ disliking Kim Namwoon on sight (it’s just funny to me)

— the kdj company thinking JDJ is a single dad trying his best (it’s a running bit)

— Jung Heewon going from Worst Cook to Best Cook, was recruited by Yoo Joonghyuk— she said nah

— by some circumstance, they hang out outside of class, and they bond

— YJH finds out about KDJs current eating habits through conversation and is personally offended

— yoo mia and Lee Gilyoung and Shin Yoosung starts bonding

— YJH and KDJ don’t get together till the end, after many failed confession attempts by YJH— they get together bc KDJ made YJH dumplings (took many batches) and YJH could no longer keep his cool (if he had any) and kisses him

— the anime ends with them eating at Yoo Joonghyuk’s restaurant together

And when I said isekai I just meant the vibes of a cooking anime has to be there. Super intense, has to be about food.

I'm trying to get one of Jumins bad endings because I'm bored, and I really love how the way to get a bad ending is to just have the appropriate response to basically being kidnapped

@ anon, I believe there are a couple of times where Saeyoung calls him Saeran-ie instead of Saeran-ah (I heard it at least once in VAE, I think when he's talking to Jumin about Saeran), tho for the most part he does stick to the latter (skimming through some calls and story modes, it's Saeran-ah when talking to him and Saeran-ie when talking about him. You learn something new every day! Thanks Kait. V and Rika do so as well). Yoosung also uses Saeran-ie (+ hyung) in RAE, even when speaking directly to him, since he's younger than Saeran.

Got curious about the others so I did a little messing around with the language settings and google (take with a BIG grain of salt and anyone who actually speaks Korean feel free to correct me), at least for the opening scene of RAE since I figured that would be the easiest to find how the rest of the RFA directly addresses Saeran. With the exception of Yoosung, they don't add an "ie" or "ah", just honorifics sometimes (Zen, for example, uses "동생/dongsaeng" which from what I found means "little sibling" the same way oppa/hyung means "older brother").

I need to share Jumin's because even if this one's a little shakey, it's hilarious (if someone wants to clear this one up please do bc I'm not 100% sure what's going on here).

So switching to the Korean text, Jumin addresses Saeran as "세란 군도" (Saeran gundo or goondo). From what I found on Google, "군도" translates to archipelago or island? BUT "군" (gun/goon) on its own is an honorific, which is used,

"Formal but accidentally condescending" sums up Jumin pretty well, and the facts that this is specifically used for unmarried men makes Saeran's honeymoon comment a minute later even funnier

I understand all of the names and add-ons the characters call us and themselves, but this was what I was confused by

Zen, Yoosung and Saeyoung usually add an 'i' (ee) to eachother's names when referring to eachother, and that's because it's a sign of affection or closeness

And they also are able to do that because their names end in consonants (eg something ending ah or oo or ee already couldn't just get ee stuck on the end because it wouldn't sound right...right?)

I think they call him 'Saeran-ah' instead.

이 - 'ee'. This ending is not used in direct address, but when speaking about a third party, and it implies a certain level of familiarity or affection for the person in question.

아/ 야 - 'ah/yah'. The 'ah' ending follows a name that ends in a consonant, and the 'yah' ending follows a name that ends in a vowel. You use this with people you are familiar with and who are the same age-group as yourself or younger, or if you are just so superior to the other person in the hierarchy that you can speak to them this way.

V refers to Saeran specifically as Saeran-ah, since that's the most often you've probably heard that in use! That's used specifically in reference to age in this case. Saeran is one of the youngest characters. So, you're going to see people speaking to him and about him as a younger person.

Whereas the (ee) is used when you're talking in reference to someone you're close to, like a friend! In this case is Saeyoung about Yoosung or Zen, vice versa.
