Junkbook Shop
Tumblr media
In light of my immanent move to South Korea, I am opening an (unofficial) shop for my craft! My hobby is called junkbooking, and it's similar to scrapbooking except each page is based off of a color or a concept. I have pages based on color, as well as some based on different Stray Kids songs or the boys themselves!
If you don't see something you like but would like something like this, feel free to message me and we can work on a commission. When I move to Korea, I won't have my materials so commissions are open until August 18th, 2024. I only have stickers for Stray Kids, so I will be unable to accept K-pop commissions for other groups.
The quantity of each page is exactly one, as each one is unique! To peruse the shop This Link will take you to Google photos where you can see all of the pages up for grabs and the prices attached! Every craft is under $8!
To place an order please fill out this form!
Thank you and happy browsing!

I don't know many people from this blog but I am bursting from the seams to scream my news to the world, so here goes.
I got accepted to Yonsei University's graduate program for a MA in Korean Studies and I have to be there by the first week of September!!!!!!
I'm gonna be a nervous wreck as I prepare for this but I'm in the process of writing part three to Rose Garden, so I'll try to keep that up!

first post :))
I'm mainly making this blog to keep memories of this coming year in Korea but also to answer any questions/give information. I feel like it's really hard to find actually relevant, detailed information on a lot of this stuff so hopefully if this can even help one person it'll be good lol

Oyakodon is a Japanese chicken and egg dish served on top of hot rice. It’s an ultimate comfort dish when you want something salty, sweet, and full of umami., and doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare. #CanadianJapanese #Japanese #food #foodie #homecooking #comfortfood #culture #history #yonsei #4thgen #SurreyBC #TrueSurrey https://www.instagram.com/p/Co1MhpyuAiA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Where I'm headed to next
Hello hello!
I want to make this blog to explain and tell you about my experience of applying to study abroad and HOPEFULLY i can start to write about each and every university application process that i went through. But as of right now i just wanted to give a little update and tell you that I'll be attending Yonsei Underwood International College in Incheon, Korea!! super excited for the thrill ride of living alone in a foreign country. As of now, i'm working on getting my certificate of admissions by sending them documents through post and paying the tuition fee and after that, i should be able to work on my study visa. They sent the email about how to get the COA so suddenly and i literally only have one week to get it done (they do allow late submissions but that would mean that you would also get the COA late). The legalization requirement is the thing that's driving me crazy rn because 1 document has to undergo multiple steps of verification and i'm just impatient LOL.

Since the age of 4, I have been practicing folk dances. As far back as I can remember, dancing has been a crucial part of my life. When I stand on stage and the spotlights are directed in your direction, I feel happy when I dance. It was the only place where I felt free and could focus on doing my job well. Dancing helped me to realize myself in all aspects of life, from mental health to study. On stage and in the training room, I could express my thoughts through movement, I could fight back my emotions or, on the contrary, sensitivity manifests itself. Also, physical activity has always kept my knowledge in good shape. So formed for 12 years, dances make you remain yourself and allow you to express yourself. My childhood dream collapsed when I turned 15, then I began to doubt my future. A year has passed, and I have not been able to come up with my goal for the next few years. Immediately after that, I got seriously injured and took a vacation to look at my life differently and decided to look for a profession related to art and media content. The next step was to choose a specialization, it was not difficult and did not take a lot of time, as I already knew. My goal is to become professional designer or creater with the experience that I have, and the people I have met over the years of concerts and competitions would help me a lot.
Thus, dancing accompanied me all my life, I cannot give up art completely, from the freedom they gave me. The liberal arts will allow me to embody my ideas that used to keep up with dance and their freedom, that is, through a wide variety of humanities and exact sciences in my curriculum, through the freedom of choice of the disciplines studied through.
Now, instead of thinking in a narrow direction like dancing, I can express my emotions and desire through movement, but not a movement in dancing, but the movement as a culture, that is, through the creation of products.
Therefore, I can use the knowledge I gained during dance and Underwood International College to direct and create my creative content in digital media, global culture and the latest modern technologies.
I think that Information and Interaction Design will help me to be always in touch with the world and will give such skills as the use of modern media communication arts to meet the cultural-educational as well as artistic needs of modern society.

Yonsei University KLI Placement Test
This is one of the things that stressed me out the most about coming to Yonsei. In my home university, I studied to around TOPIK level 4 before coming to Korea but I was super nervous since I didn't know how the test would go and where they would put me.
If you put your Korean level as none, then you don't have to take the placement test and will immediately be put in level 1. If you don't, then you'll have to take the placement test if you intend to take Korean classes in KLI.
Everyone gets split into a bunch of classrooms to take the test. It's two parts: a written test and a short speaking test. The written test is a packet, composed of mainly multiple choice questions, that get harder and harder as they go on. There's no obligation to try and answer all of the questions and once you get to ones that you think you definitely can't answer, you can just stop there and hand in the paper. At the end of the packet there's an essay question you can answer, if you understand the prompt and feel comfortable with it. But again, you're not obligated to. The speaking test only takes a few minutes and is very relaxed. You go into a separate room with a teacher who asks you a few questions about yourself and what you know. For me, she just started asking about my name and where I was from, and then we moved on to slightly more complicated questions, a few of them asking if I'd studied certain grammar and if I could use it in sentences. I was really nervous about this part but it was much more relaxed and low-stress than I thought it would be.
A few days after you take the placement test, you find out your level and classroom assignment on the KLI website, and then about an hour or two later there's the KLI orientation. When classes start on the Monday after, you just make your way to your classroom and the teachers will explain how your class will work, the semester schedule, and some other things.
Honestly, I was a little embarrassed at first, but I got placed in level 3 following my placement test. I showed up in my classroom on the first day and I was just going to play it by ear because I wasn't entirely sure if it was an accurate placement or not. After the first day, I realized I already knew pretty much all of the grammar and vocab and definitely just messed up my test because I was stressed (lol), so I explained my situation to my teacher and asked if I could move up a level. Originally, they told me I would have to talk to the office but when I came to class the next day, they just moved me up into a level 4 classroom. I think sometimes they might make you talk to a couple of teacher and check if you can move up or not. But it was pretty smooth for me, luckily.
Regardless of where you get placed, all the teachers at KLI are so supportive and so nice to be around. The classroom environment is great and you get to meet so many different people. If you're coming to Yonsei and have to take the placement test, try not to worry about it too much!!
