A\N: AS always I did not create the Gif I do not posses those skills I used the gif search bar. If you are the creator of any of the gifs I've used and would like to to Gove you proper credit please let me know and I will edit to tag you for the credit. I know Iâve been gone forever and Iâm getting flakier and flakier and at this point Iâm truly surprised if anyone still follows any of my stories. Again, I apologize the headspace has been utter garbage and Iâm fighting as hard as I can to get content written and posted if only, I could get the headspace and the family to cooperate at the same time that would be wonderful. After all that rambling, hereâs the story, enjoy and happy reading.Â
Yondu began to talk to Y\N trying to calm her anxiety that seemed to spike out of nowhere in the middle of the night taking her hand from his thigh and bringing it up to his lips to place a gentle kiss on the back of it before placing it over his heart.
âDarlinâ I donât know whatâs got you fretting all of a sudden, but I want you to listen to me. As long as that heart right there is beating you ainât ever gotta worry âbout nothinâ getting you in the night. I promise you that.â
Yondu, as gently as he could, pulled Y/N to his chest and slowly rocking her back and forth trying to calm her as quickly as possible. He didnât know what she may have been through, but he knew it had to have been something terrible to have her this out of sorts from simply being in a different bed than her own. Why hadnât she realized yet that she and the boy were the two safest ones on that ship as long as he was around. Yondu would rather sacrifice his own life than to ever let either or those two get hurt in any way, shape, or form.Â
If Y/N questions, her safety still after being on his crew for this long, could something have happened with them or was this something from her life back on Terra messing with her still? Yondu made a mental note to try and ease her into opening up as to why she had this reaction later when she was actually awake enough to delve into potential past traumas.Â
Yondu managed to get her calmed and back to sleep within about an hour of her waking as she had, and it was a restful rest of the night. As the day started it came with the sounding of alarms to wake and get to work on the ship. More maintenance for the ship and caring for Peter he was still young and needed taught the basics or everyday life all be it not the everyday life that was expected by him and Y/N.Â
Yondu carefully woke Y/N and handed off her daily Ravager attire of her denim coveralls with the Ravager emblem over the part that rests over her heart and the pants and plain white tee she wore under them. She offered a small smile as she took them and hurried off to the captainâs bathroom to ready herself for the day.
Once dressed she left the captainâs quarters, checked in on Peter, and started on her daily tasks. She did her best to avoid Yondu all day and for the most part she was successful until it came time for the nightly meal.Â
Yondu basically cornered her asking her why she had been avoiding him all day to which she tried to get away without responding. She wasnât ready to talk about what had happened the night before and was going well out of her way to avoid it. She just wasnât ready for that particular conversation with Yondu. She thought if he knew what caused her to wake the way she did in his bed he would see her as âsoftâ and that would be the end of their relationship. Something she wasnât ready for, nor did she want.Â
Yondu decided to let her avoid their conversation at that moment but was determined to at least find out what had happened last night that she had woken up so terrified. He left her eat and socialize like she normally would, but he watched her closely. Waiting for her to decide to call it a night and retire to her quarters for the night after making sure the boy was in for the night. Once she had tucked the boy in then Yondu would make his move and get her to talk to him.Â
Yondu was waiting outside of Peterâs quarters for Y/N to finish up the boyâs nightly bedtime routine. A fact that Y/N was unaware of until she exited Peterâs room. Upon realizing Yondu was waiting for her startled her which caused her to let out a little yelp of surprise before greeting him.
âYou surprised me Cap. Wasnât expecting you to be lurking just outside the door, Sir.â She spoke barely loud enough to be heard by him and made no efforts to make eye contact. She wasnât entirely up for the conversation she knew was about to be had but she knew Yondu was like a bulldog with a bone when he wanted answers.
âWell Darlinâ, youâve done an excellent job of avoiding me today and I needed to talk witcha âbout las nightâŚâ He stopped and gave her a knowing look he had a feeling this was going to be a hard conversation to have with Y/N, but he needed to confirm his theories about his love. Deep down he wanted to be worried over nothing more than a simple bad night but something in his gut told him there was more to it. He really hoped it wasnât as bad as he feared.
With a sigh Y/N nodded and agreed to talk with him only in his private quarters as to not risk the rest of the crew overhearing the conversation. She motioned to Yondu to lead the way back to his room as she was clearly not in any hurry to have that conversation.
Her childhood was the one thing that she never talked about. It wasnât a good experience and not something she enjoyed revisiting. It was a harsh reminder that she was damaged goods. A fact her father would remind her of almost daily. Y/N was starting to feel the anxiety build at the thought of telling Yondu what caused that nightmare the night prior. The fear of her fatherâs words ringing true was weighing heavily on her. What if they were true what if once Yondu finds out about how damaged she was and decided he wasnât interested in her anymore because the trauma was too much to deal with on top of everything else on his shoulders. What if he agreed with Y/Nâs father, that she was in fact completely unlovableâŚ
To Be ContinuedâŚ

Touch me
Pairing: Yondu Udonta x female reader
Word count: approx. 300
Warnings: sexual tension
Summary: You have a thing for Yondu and he knows it, deciding to let you have what you want
---
Like many times before, you were doing your job while being totally lost in a fantasy about your captain, and because of it didn't even notice him entering the room. He walked right behind you and you only realized he was there when you felt his warm breath on your skin. You flinched, but didn't have time to do anything before his strong hands found their way to your hips.Â
"It seems like you're not really focusinâ on your work, hun. So tell me⌠Whatcha ya thinkinâ about?" Yondu asked seductively right next to your ear.
Shivers ran down your spine and your heart rate quickened.Â
"You, actually", you breathed out. You could feel your cheeks heating up and your crotch starting to tingle sweetly, and it was all because of him.
"Is that so? What about me?â
His words were followed by a nervous silence. You couldn't say a thing. How on earth could you tell your captain you had just fantasized about how those fingers would feel on your most sensitive spot? Only the thought of telling it made you shiver.
âLemme guessâ, Yondu murmured, moving his hands slowly up and down your sides. âYa were thinkinâ how these hands would feel on your body.â
You gasped, but it turned quickly into a moan when his hands got right under your breasts. You felt all dizzy and weak, not believing it was actually happening.
âAll ya need to do is say the wordsâ, he whispered.
âCaptain⌠please, touch meâ, you stammered breathlessly.Â
Yondu's warm hands grabbed your breasts as soon as the words had left your lips. You arched your back and whimpered out of pleasure. He kissed your neck, and before you realized it, his other hand had found its way between your legs where you had wanted it for too long. You knew there was no turning back now, but that wasnât a problem at all!

8 & T - Yondu X daughter reader â¤ď¸
Thanks for the prompt! 8. Snow down back of neck T. Tickling [Send me a prompt and I'll write a drabble]
***
"Zip up your jacket." Yondu scolded you flatly as he locked up the ship.
You ignored him and continued chattering about the winter festival that would be happening in the nearby town the next day and how excited you were to see the lights. "I read that the trees look like mini nebulas they're so bright!"
Yondu had decided to take the crew on the rare vacation that wasn't on Contraxia. Currently most of his men were in the town drinking it up and the two of you were heading to join Kraglin and Peter by an out-of-the-way ice-fishing hole that Yondu was familiar with. He had sent them ahead to set up while he and you stayed back to repair your collapse-able fishing rod.
Yondu knew the repair would have actually only needed maybe five minutes to complete, but hey, it got him out of having to saw holes in the frozen lake and he knew you wouldn't complain either.
Now the two of you were on your way to join them, following the tracks they had left in the snow.
"Eh- probably exaggerated to bring in tourists," Yondu said, responding to your earlier comment about the lights.
"Can't you let yourself be excited for once?" you half-whine, half-tease.
Yondu glanced at you with a grin. "Nope."
You playfully punch him in the arm.
He returned your playful punch, and told you again to zip up your jacket.
Again you ignored him, a mischievous grin forming on your lips as you allowed yourself to fall behind in your pace just long enough to quickly grab some snow from the ground before recovering your pace to rejoin him at his side.
You turn the subject towards a job you knew was coming up after this vacation would be over, asking about the planet it was to be set on. This, of course, was just a means of distraction before you enacted your mischief. Nothing big. Just a little snow down his back... heck, you could probably blame one of the trees overhead for it.
Yondu starts to answer, and you think you're in the clear to pull off your prank, but the second you go to raise your arm he reaches out and grabs your wrist, making your hand open on instinct and drop its snow.
He turns to you with an eye roll and a smirk, still holding your wrist. "Did you really think I wouldn't notice? You gotta be sneakier than that, kid."
It takes a second for the shock to wear off, but once you recover you return his smirk with one of your own. "Or have a good backup plan!" and with that you swung your other hand up over his shoulder and shoved the other handful of snow you had grabbed down the back of his coat, sure that you possibly even made some of it go down into the back of his shirt.
Yondu's eyes widened and he recoiled as soon as the cold hit his skin, immediately releasing your wrist so he could reach back and attempt to fish out any un-melted snow- though of course that was a lost cause.
In the meantime you just stood there, laughing your ass off.
After a moment Yondu turns back toward you and narrows his eyes. "Betcha thought that was real funny, didn't ya? Real proud of yerself, ain't ya?"
Still giggling, you nod. However, your giggling slows once you notice the look on his face.
He steps towards you and just glares at you for a moment. By now you had stopped giggling and started to wonder how many toilets he was gonna make you clean back on the Eclector for your little stunt.
The silence hung for a good couple moments before Yondu spoke. Eyeing you, a playful smirk played on his features as he asked, "Thought I told you to zip up your jacket?"
You only just had time to look down before Yondu lunged for you, his hands quickly flying past your open jacket, latching onto your ribs, and sending you into hysteric laughter as you tried to fight him off.
You squealed out a "No! No fair!" as he continued to tickle the snot out of you.
"I think it's more than fair, missy!" he laughed. "You ignored me twice about zipping up your jacket, and then you shoved snow down my back! Far as I'm concerned that's three strikes against ya right there! If anything I'd say I'm going soft on ya!" with that he moved his hands up to tickle under your arms, which practically made you scream as it was one of your worst spots.
"Sorry! I'm sorry!" you squeal out, grabbing his wrists, but unable to push him off you.
"Yeah, bet you're really sorry. Sorry that you got caught, and sorry that you didn't zip up your jacket when I told you too!" he laughed.
Through your hard belly laughter you manage, "I give! I give up! I'm sorry!"
"Ya gonna do it again?"
"No!"
Yondu finally released you. "That's what I thought. Now get your jacket zipped, it's cold out here."
Still giggly, you finally obey his command and zip up your coat. "That was so mean!" you whine, punching him in the arm again.
"Yeah, you deserved it, brat." He answered with a smile and pulled you into a side hug and ruffled your hair. "You're lucky I didn't decide to bury you in the snow and leave ya there."
You simply stick out your tongue in response, and after he playfully shoved you in the shoulder in response to that, the two of you continue on your way to meet the others at the fishing hole.

Chaos from the Stars
I'm trying something new so bear with me. I've never written an "x reader" fic before, but I want to try it.
I'm focusing on some of my favorite characters that get like 0 media and screen time
Reader is gender neutral
Summary: Two Ravager ships get damaged in battle so they make an emergency landing on the nearest planet; Earth. Unfortunately for them, they land in the middle of a field near someone's home, and now a human is involved.
Beginning | Next
Freezing, late November air rolled across the fields outside and carried snow toward a single house in the middle of the country.
It was 4 am on a Friday morning, and you were asleep. At least until you heard a loud whooshing sound, followed by heavy, booming thuds that practically shook the land. On top of that, the area was now completely lit up, including your bedroom.
You shot up, grabbed your coat, shoes, and ran outside, thinking there had been a plane crash or something. The icy air enveloped you and bit at your skin as soon as you stepped onto the porch. Frosted grass crunched under your shoes as you ran toward the field. You weren't sure what you were going to find, but still thinking it to be a plane crash, you hoped maybe you could be of help.
Instead what you found was far more confusing, and didn't make sense. There were two large air crafts that didn't look like anything you'd seen before. They weren't planes, that was for sure. One was smoking, and red lights flashed from inside, and you could faintly hear an alarm. The other was tilted on its side, and all the lights were shut off.
The door on the flashing ship opened and people started to evacuate. Only when you stepped closer, you noticed they looked a bit.. not human. Sure, many of them looked human, but others had green or blue skin, some had crested skulls, red eyes, or sharp teeth.. They weren't human.
A blue man jogged down out of the ship, coughing as smoke rushed out after him. He had some sort of red fin on his head, and spoke with a rough voice, commanding the men to get to the other ship and help them open their door.
You watched as at least twenty men rushed over and began prying at the door until it finally opened, and a different crew exited.
A human looking man exited, followed by another who looked like he was made of glass or crystal.. Then a large, red alien with a tail instead of legs, and fins for ears, a woman, and a very large man in a yellow suit.
The human looking man immediately made his way over to the blue man and they seemed to launch into an argument on sight.
You couldn't make out everyone, as the area was only lit up by the lights from the ship that was smoking, and many of the men were standing in the darkness, trying to get away from all the smoke.
You almost forgot you were even standing there, just watching the scene unfold, until you heard a voice call out over the loud arguing.
"Cap'in, I don't mean to interrupt, but there's a Terran.." said another human-looking man, this one a little scrawny with pointed ears. You didn't think he was human, but he did look like it.
Suddenly the attention was on you. At least thirty something men out here, and all of them had turned toward you.
"I-" your own voice came out as a squeak, both from the sudden shyness and the lack of use, as it was four in the morning and you had just woken up, "I heard a crash, I thought maybe someone had gotten.. hurt.." you explained, your eyes flicking from alien to alien. You took a step back, intimidated.
The human-looking man that had just been arguing with the blue alien turned and approached you. He took your hand and shook it without giving you the chance to even raise it first. "Stakar Ogord. I apologize for landing our ships and damaging the field here, we needed to make an emergency landing."
"The fields not mine-" you started, but he continued like he didn't even hear you.
"We may have to stay here until we can get our ships repaired and in the air again. Until then, I guess we'll be your neighbors. No one should bother you, I just recommend you stay in your yard." He gave a rough pat to your shoulder and turned around, walking back toward the group, leaving you standing there.
Your mind was racing, and the exhaustion wasn't helping. In fact, you were half convinced this was a dream. You looked over at the blue man with the red crest, and he just waved you off, like he was shooing you back to your house. His message was clear.
We don't need your help.
With nothing left to say, and apparently nothing to do, you did the only thing you could think of and went back inside. You shut and locked the door, took your coat off, and stepped out of your shoes.
You wanted to go back to bed, but there was no way you could do that with maybe thirty to fourty aliens just outside. Instead, you started the coffee maker and figured you'd just start the day early, at 4:30 in the morning. That was fine. Five hours of sleep wasn't terrible. After you'd poured your cup, you remembered something and stepped back outside onto the back porch.
Once you found what you were looking for, you stepped back inside, shut the door, and started to pour a second cup of coffee, this time into a thermos.
You put your coat and shoes back on, and grabbed an extra coat from the closet before you headed back out, jogging back toward the group, right for the red snake-like alien.
He turned to face you and you froze. No mouth.
Suddenly the gesture felt silly and pointless.
He continued to stare, as did some of the others.
"Uh.. Well, I saw you.. earlier, when the ship- .. Well anyway, you look reptilian, and I thought maybe you were cold blooded, and it's twenty degrees out here.. Which isn't very safe for cold blooded creatures in general, so I brought you a coffee and an extra coat.. But uh.. Well I guess you can still use the coat." You said, handing it over, relived that he actually took it and put it on, bowing his head in silent thanks.
You heard a chuckle from that man earlier, Stakar. "He can still have the drink, his mouth is in his chest. But thank you, on behalf of Krugarr here, for thinking of him."
You could tell he was trying to be polite in order to stay civil, though he was trying to focus on the ships and the fact that they were all stranded now.
The red alien -Krugarr, you learned his name was- bowed his head again and accepted the drink. You realized he also was just trying to be polite, knowing you had good intentions.
You turned your attention back to Stakar. "Is there anything I can do to help? There's like forty of you, all stranded out here.. Do you need food or water maybe? Or a place to stay? My house isn't very big, but I've got a barn on my property that isn't being used."
The blue man with the red crest stepped up. "Can't you see we're handling it? Look, the gesture is appreciated, but we're fine. We don't need your help. We'll stay on our ship-"
"The ship that looks like it's on fire?" You retorted. "You'll die of smoke inhalation. My barn is open, I can get extra blankets and heaters out there. It's the least I can do, just let me help."
He stopped and grumbled a little, clearly irritated. He turned and looked at his crew. Some were visibly shivering, while others had their hands in their pockets, arms tightly tucked into their bodies, pretending not to be cold, but their captain knew his crew and sighed.
"Fine," he turned and faced you, "You can put the boys up in your barn until we get things figured out. But if they give you trouble, and they might, you come an' get me." He turned toward the man who had spoken up earlier, the scrawnier looking human-like man. "Go with them, make sure they don't destroy the place."
The man nodded and turned toward the crew. "Cap'in says we're stayin' in the Terran's barn until our ship is fixed up." He called out. And with a jerk of his head, they followed him, and he followed you.
As you walked across the field, you looked up at him. "Forgive me if this is rude, but.. Are you human?" you asked.
He shook his head. "Xandarian. We share a common ancestor with you Terrans, so we look mighty similar, but we're different."
Another awkward minute of silent walking before you introduced yourself. If you were hosting them, they might as well know your name.
He nodded. "I'm Kraglin, Cap'in's first mate. Behind me is Brahl, Horuz, Tullk, Retch, Gef.." He trailed off, realizing there were too many crewmembers. "Uh.. Well they'll introduce themselves when ya meet 'em." He was quiet for a moment before he spoke up again. "Cap'in won't say it, but thank you.. For lettin' us stay in your barn."
You nodded. "I couldn't let you guys stay outside, it's below freezing. A human wouldn't make it out here.. By the way, what's the name of your captain? That scary blue guy."
"Yondu Udonta. He's the captain of our faction, and Stakar is the captain of his own faction."
Finally you got to the barn, and yanked at the doors, pulling them open, watching as aliens rushed to get inside and out of the snow.
You turned back toward Kraglin, crossing your arms over your chest to try and warm up a little. "What caused you guys to crash here anyway?"
He exhaled and leaned against the door. "We was fightin' with the Kree. The Cap'in doesn't have good history with them, so when he sees their ships, he gets a little impulsive- you ain't heard that from me by the way." You nodded, and he continued.
"They cut us off, and he started chasin', and shootin'. It got so bad that Stakar came an' told him to stop, that he was gon' start somethin'. Then the Kree shot back and nearly took out our ship, and that's when Stakar got involved, cuz he don't like anyone messin' with Yondu. We eventually shot their ship down, but ours didn't turn out much better."
That's when you remembered them fighting. Everyone evacuated, and Yondu made sure Stakar and his crew got out safely, and then they started fighting. It reminded you of you and your family a little bit.
"Come on, I've got some blankets and heaters in my house, can you help me carry them?" You asked, walking toward the house. You heard him jog to catch up and follow you, taking that as a yes.
You came back out with two space heaters and ten blankets, some pulled from your own bed. It wasn't nearly enough, but some people were able to begrudgingly share, and others crowded around the heaters and just sat together. Some were nice enough to thank you, but most either nodded or just grunted.
"Don't take it personally," Kraglin had said, "Ravagers ain't exactly the nicest of people. We're pirates."
Great, you thought, I'm hosting space alien pirates in my barn.
You nodded to him as he headed over toward a stall meant for a horse but hadn't been used and was left empty. Turning to leave, you nearly ran into Yondu, who caught you by shoulders before you did.
"Oh, I'm sorry-" You started but he just let go and walked around you, joining his crew. It felt a little rude, but it was understandable, he was stressed about his ship.
As you walked back toward the house, you saw Stakar, Krugarr, and a very angry looking woman. You may not have known what Krugarr was, but you were sure he was cold blooded. He had to be, right?
"Hey, uh, there's some extra room in the house. I have the heat on, and there's a guest room, if you three would prefer to sleep inside instead of out in the barn." you offered.
The woman started to decline, but Stakar spoke faster, "That would be wonderful, thank you." He ignored the smack she delivered to his chest, and walked inside with her. As scary and as harsh as she was with Stakar, she did thank you on her way in, so you assumed maybe she just hadn't wanted to intrude.
She and Stakar got the guest room together, making you think they were together, and you set up Krugarr in the livingroom couch with a blanket. He may not have had a mouth, but you could see it in his eyes that he seemed to smile a little and was grateful.
You headed back to your room, finally and sat down on the bed, ready to get back to sleep.. When it hit you that you just impulsively let maybe forty dangerous, possibly armed, alien pirate strangers stay with you, and three of them were inside your house.
You hadn't even thought about it, you just let them in, trying to help. You didn't know them, where they were from, their intentions, anything. Sure they seemed nice, but didn't most murders when people talked about them on the news?
You got up and clicked the lock on the door shut before sitting back down. You were sure that wasn't enough to stop them, but if their intention was to rob you, maybe it would be safer to stay put in your room while they did their thing..
You checked the clock propped up on your dresser.. 5:35 am.
Maybe just an hour of sleep wouldn't hurt. They all seemed equally as exhausted anyway, maybe they wouldn't bother you.
So you laid back down, pulled the comforter up, and fell back asleep, trying not to think about the people in your house or in the barn.

Is it me, or does anyone else wanna see a movie of just the Ravengers? Like look at Martinex! My little twinkle toes looks stunning! I wanna know how the ravengers act towards each other and how Stakar, Martinex, Mainframe, Krugar and Gamora act to each other. Is Gamora Stakars new adopted child?
I mean look at themđŤâ¤ď¸
Krugarr and Mainframe look adorable and they seem to care a lot about her. I thought Ravengers werenât into that sentimental stuff unless that was just a Yondu thing (rejecting affection). Did they hug and card about Yondu the same way they are treating Gamora? I need to know please đ

Summary: What if the light had stayed with Meredith? This work is the first part in a series that answers that question. It reverses the timeline of the movies; Ego is dealt with in this work, and Ronan in the next. I always thought it was a little lame that Meredith's function in the movies (and comics, actually) is just to give birth to Peter and then die. I think Peter would agree; his mother was more than that. This is a fic to illuminate what might have happened if Meredith Quill had followed her son to space. If you like handyman badass secretly-cinnamon-roll Kraglin, emotional sassy mothering Meredith, grumbly badass angst-covering Yondu, and peppy pickpocket rambunctious Peter, then this fic is for you. Meredith Quill, Mother of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Hi everyone...I have been doing some re-reading of some older fics I haven't picked up in a while, and I noticed something alarming. Does anyone know where @loveisyondublue is?? I found them on AO3...but they seem to have vanished from Tumblr and her fics have been altered on AO3. Literally every ounce of smut is gone. Wiped. I mean not that I read the Vital Series for the smut....the story is the best part - it just struck me as odd. Anybody know anything on that? I was rather shocked.

Keepin' yer safe and warm
Due to an unexpected stopover, the Ravagers have to set up a camp on a unhabitated planet. And while everyone has laid down to rest, little Peter is shivering in the cold of the night and Yondu, sitting nearby, eventually hears the small Terran.
"What's up with ya, boy?"
A gruff voice called from nearby and Peter shifted his head, shivering and rubbing his shoulders. He looked up to the Centaurian with a sad expression, biting his lip in despair.
"I-i'm cold..."
The child had crossed his arms, in an attempt to warm himself, which didn't help much, though.
Yondu grumbled and let out a humorless laugh.
"Ain't my fault, I told ya to dress warm."
Sensitive Terrans...
Ignoring the child, he turned around again. Not his problem if the boy freezes his ass off. Serves him just right. This stupid brat didn't want to listen and that's what he gets now.
The Ravager grunted, closed his eyes again and tried to ignore the boy's chattering teeth and helpless whimpers in the cold. He waited to fall asleep again. Though, he had to admit that it was kinda chilly tonight, even for him.
Almost dangerously cold, especially for little Terrans - in fact, the boy only wore his thin leather jacket that barely contributed any warmth. Maybe he could...
Nah, he's gonna be fine. Don't care. Ravagers don't give a damn 'bout stupid Terrans.
Yondu still heard Peter shivering desperately under his breath, kinda glad that he at least made any noise by this cold. Admittedly, he had this uneasy gnawing in his chest, whenever he didn't hear any more noises from the kid but relaxed again as he was still breathing.
Great. Now he couldn't even sleep because of the brat.
The Centaurian turned around to the boy who by now had huddled to a bundle, pulled his legs close to his little trembling body. Rolling his eyes in annoyance, the man left out a reluctant grunt.
"C'mere."
Peter immediately turned too, raising his head. The boy stared at him with a glazed sight, surprise written all over his face. He didn't need to be told twice and scrambled over to the man.
"Hurry up, before I'm changin' my mind, boy!"
The Ravager held up his arm, pulling the shivering child under his coat to warm him up. Peter snuggled up to his side, his lips of bluish color, cheeks burning red from the cold.
"And if ye tell anyone 'bout this, I'm gonna kill ya myself an' eat'cha then, got it, boy?!" He hissed down to the kid.
Peter already made himself comfortable and eventually stopped shivering, mumbling into Yondu's coat.
"Mhm..."
And he will deny it later on, say that he just couldn't stand the noise, boy was gonna damage his chompers from all the clatterin'.
Couldn't have let his best little thief freeze t'death, he'd be stupid if he did, now did he?
Hell, he couldn't care less. But when the little Terran lay that close to his body, cradled in big strong arms and buried his face in the warm chest, even the Ravager allowed himself to put his guard down.
There was a feeling in his chest, which he ignored. And he put his hand on the boy's shoulder, just so his coat isn't slipping off and the kid won't start annoying him again. No other reason for that.
And by the stars, Yondu will never ever admit it - even in the afterlife - but he held the boy a little closer that night, making sure he is secured from the cold weather, keeping him safe and warm.

Yondu x Reader Part 5
A/N: Okay all this one got away from me a bit and sorta took off on its own and to be utterly honest I havenât got the foggiest idea of where this is going at all. I wish to apologize for the excessive run-on sentences/paragraphs. Youâd think by now Iâd know what I was doing and be a pro at this. Anyway here it is please enjoy ~Queenie.
Master List
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5:
Yondu took her back to his quarters and got her into his shower, letting her shower in peace he set to arranging his room to accommodate both of them. Tonight, he wasnât letting Y/N out of his sight he was afraid that if he were to leave her by herself, she would focus far too much on the negative things about them as a couple that were intent on creeping into her mind. At least if he were there to hold her through the night, she wouldnât be alone with just her thoughts.
He knocked on the door that led to the shower and told her that he would be right back he was running over to her quarters for a moment to grab her sleep clothes and a change of clothes for her in the morning. She tried to argue with him, but he was gone as quick as he had appeared. By the time she was finished and drying off Yondu returned and shyly handed off her pajamas that she insisted on wearing even though Yondu insisted that they werenât lady like. Yondu grumbled the entire time Y/N dressed, but once she stepped out of his bathroom he stopped in an instant. In awe of simplistic beauty.
Y/N tucked a strand of wet hair behind her ear, starting to turn a light shade of pink, again, under Yonduâs gaze. She wasnât used to such attention. Back home she was always too plain or too boring or something along those lines for the guys back home. Yonduâs enamored stare was still a new concept for her. She watched the blue man before her questioningly pondering his intentions in her mind. He had never been this insistent on her staying with him before. She didnât fear him, but this was a new thing for him and between them.
Yondu, again, could sense the apprehension coming off her Y/Nâs body. To sooth her concerns he gave her a gentle smile before speaking to calm her, âItâs alright, Darlinâ. Only thing thatâs goinâ to happen in here tânight is sleeping. No funny business, I promise. I just want ta make sure that mind of yourâs donât go gettingâ to ya and messinâ up what we got goinâ here. I want nothinâ but your company tânight, Darlin.â
Nodding Y/N agreed that staying with her captain tonight would probably be for the best because she sure did have a lot wandering through her mind that could have potentially done damage to their budding relationship. She knew what her mind did all too well and this was the one thing that she didnât want it to mess up.
She whispered a soft, âOkay Captain.â And moved closer to him, reaching out a hand hoping for him to take it. Which he did and gently pulled her into his arms, kissing her gently on her forehead hoping the innocent gesture would calm her evident nerves. It did. She rested her head on his chest and smiled against it.
Yondu pulled her back from him again offering that same harmless inviting smile as he spoke to her, âNow Darlinâ you gonna be okay with me sleeping shirtless? I know you ainât quite ready for me sleepinâ in da buffâŚâ He gave Y/N a wink as he finished speaking and looked her in the eyes waiting on his answer.
Y/N offer him a shy smile in return and nodded in response, âThatâs fine Cap. You know I donât mind seeing you shirtless. Itâs quite an impressive sight in my opinion.â She offered him a wink of her own and a mischievous little grin and let go of her Captain.
Yondu felt saddened by the loss of contact with her and smiled and gave her a gentle and playful swat across her bottom, âAlright Darlinâ, git on dat bed and git yourself comfortable. Iâm goinâ to get myself ready fir bed and Iâll be right out.â
Y/N squeaked in surprise at the swat and nodded again listening to Yondu and situated herself on one side of the bed making sure to leave more than enough room for him. This was going to be a new experience for her as she had been an only child without many close friends and have never shared a bed with anyone before let alone a romantic interest. She had never actually slept with anyone else in the room much less with someone next to her in the bed.
As she was lost in these thoughts and fussing with the little bit of the covers, she had allowed herself to take Yondu had stepped out of the bathroom and watched her for a moment in complete silence, smiling to himself. While he wasnât going to actually âhaveâ his woman, he still had her in his bed for the night and in his opinion this way was far more intimate than if he were to have sex with her. He definitely wanted that at some point with her but tonight was all about holding her tight though the night and, hopefully, calming any and all concerns that her mind could throw at her. They had been so close to that point earlier much like other times that week only to be interrupted, again. It was always something on that ship it seems that fortunately the only ones that have caught him and Y/N in his quarters together were Peter and Tullk. Neither of them would end up telling anyone on the ship. Thankfully.
Neither Y/N nor Yondu was prepared for the almost guaranteed crap fest that would come from the rest of the crew finding out about their relationship. They both knew there would be at least a fight if not a full-blown riot from the rest of Yonduâs Ravager crew. Yondu didnât want that on his hands just yet and he knew for certain his woman wasnât ready for all of that chaos. He knew his crew would think him soft and that Y/N was trying to sleep her way to first mate despite being one of the only ones on the ship that was willing to do every bit of maintenance and cleaning and what not that none of the other will do. Yondu had talked many times with Y/N over the year plus that Y/N had been with him and his crew about the first mates position on the ship and she has flat out refused it every time it came up. She was perfectly content with her âgeneric run of the mill gruntâ position. He knew she was happy with the minimal preferential treatment she was given. The separate quarters from the rest of the crew and things like that.
All these things passed through Yonduâs mind as he walked from the bathroom to his bed and laid down on his back lifting his left arm inviting the timid Y/N to curl into his side and lay her head in his chest. Reassuring her that it was alright and that she was safe. Telling her that he wasnât sure of the exact name of this on Terra, but he called it âSnugglinâ which as she was inching away from the wall she had been hugging and closer to him she let out a light giggle telling him that was essentially what they called it there too.
As he was lowering his arm around Y/N he felt her tentatively reach her arm across his abdomen and lightly place her hand on his chest as he softly assured her that it was okay, she rested her head on his chest and was asleep in moments.
But the sleep was short lived as she shifted away from him only a couple hours later and jumped awake momentarily forgetting why she wasnât in her bed, waking Yondu with her sudden gasp.
Yondu jumped ready to protect both Y/N and himself only to realize there was no tangible threat in the room when he discovered her sitting up trying to stop the slight tremble she had woken up with. He immediately started trying to sooth Y/N telling her she was alright and that she was safe. He gently wrapped an arm around her to try to stop her trembling. This seemed to sooth her well enough as he murmured soothing words in her ears, he felt a shaky hand on his upper thigh and could just about feel Y/N turning bright red at her own brazen actions and in a soft voice he heard her whisper his nameâŚ
To Be ContinuedâŚ

Temporary Home : Chapter 26
Guardians of the Galaxy fanfic | Reader x Guardians (With Yondu and Kraglin!)
Summary: When your order for spider repellent finally comes you have to go into town to get it, but what happens when your solo trip turns into you bringing not one, but three, of the Guardians with you into town?
Previous Chapter here | Next Chapter Here Or click here to: Start From Beginning
Authorâs Note: For my records this chapter ends on day 76 of the Guardians living with reader. Enjoy!
Word Count: 6,992
There was only just enough time for you to register the color blue in the dim light before your would-be punching victim grabbed your wrist to block the blow and in one fluid motion had you spun facing away from them with your arm pinned behind your back. Soon followed the same gruff voice, which you now realized to be Yondu's, saying, "Alright, easy now-"
The two of you stood there for a moment with him pinning your arm firmly behind your back, your breath coming in quick bursts as your heart threatened to launch itself from your chest.
He spoke again. "For yer benefit I'm gonna assume that ya didn't mean that," he was clearly referring to you nearly sucker punching him, "-which is the only reason you're still standing. Now, if I let you go are ya gonna behave?"
Wordlessly, you nod.
"Alright then. I'm gonna let you go and you can explain yourself."
He released your arm and you slowly turn to face him, your gaze not quite meeting his. "Sorry." you say quietly. Then, slightly more loudly, "Did you need something?"
"Well, I was a little curious as to why ya just ran out the house like that, but now I kinda wanna know why ya just tried to knock my block off."
Your face began to grow hot. You had been in such a hurry you hadn't noticed anyone else on your way out. Then again, you hadn't been looking too hard either. Furthermore, what could you say? That you were running away from some spiders? You didn't think you could bring yourself to admit it.
"I- um," your gaze fell to the ground, "Did anyone else see?" you asked, declining to answer why you just swung at him. Again, what would even say?
Yondu let a short laugh out his nose. "Nah, pretty sure I was the only one. Surprised you didn't see me, I was right there in the hall." After a beat he spoke again, "Now come on. Out with it."
Unsure if he still meant why you ran out, or why you about hit him, you reply, "Nothing. What do you care for?" Crossing your arms over your chest, you continue to look anywhere but towards him.
"Just curious. People usually don't run out of a place like that unless something's wrong. Thought I'd investigate to make sure you weren't chasing after something or need backup. Then I find ya hiding behind the shed and ya just tried to knock my block off and so now I figure something must be goin' on with ya."
"I don't want to talk about it," you say sullenly, your face growing hotter.
"Why? It can't be any worse than any of what you've already told me."
Finally meeting his gaze you offer nothing more than a glare.
He rolled his eyes with a smirk. "Alright. Don't tell me then. I also won't tell you about that spider crawling in your hair either."
It had just been a joke- just some good-natured ribbing- but it didn't take long to he realized he fucked up.
No sooner than those words left his lips you reacted very badly, jumping out of your skin and immediately batting at your hair to get the alleged spider off of you. Then you half-collapse onto the wall of the shed and begin quietly sobbing.
He simply stared at you a moment, too stunned to speak. Something was very wrong. It was finally clear you weren't just being moody- but fuck- what should he do?
"Um, hey now..." he said awkwardly, eyes wide.
You didn't respond. Just continued to sob, unable to stop, your cries muffled behind your hands.
"Come on now- I didn't mean anythin' by it," Yondu tried again.
Still, you didn't acknowledge him.
He debated if he should try and nudge you or something, or if that might result in you swinging at him again. Damn. He hated seeing people cry. He needed it to stop. But what should he do? Walk away? Shake some sense into you?
Eventually he rolled his eyes and sighed before saying, "Aw hell, come here-" as he grabbed you and pulled you into a tight bear hug.
Apparently it worked. The shock of it all- combined with the fact he practically knocked the wind out of you- startled you into silence mid-sob.
"What... are you doing?" you asked after several moments, confusion evident in your voice.
"Had to make ya stop somehow, and slapping ya just seemed kinda mean seein' as ya were already crying." There was an edge of humor to his voice that almost made you crack a smile yourself. He spoke up again after a moment. "So, ya done now?"
You sniff and nodded your head the best you could despite being squished up against his chest.
"Alright. I'm gonna let ya go... again... and then I want ya to tell me what this is all about."
He could feel you slump in defeat, but let you go anyway.
Once free, you took a step back and looked at the ground, wrapping your arms around yourself.
"Well?"
"It's- I don't... I mean- ugh." You covered your face with your hands. You just didn't know how to say it, so eventually you settled for. "It was just a rough day."
"Just 'a rough day,' huh?"
You nod, still not looking at him.
Yondu frowned, but said, "Well, it ain't gonna get any better standing out here in the cold. Ya ain't even got any shoes on. Come on." He gestured you back in the house.
You finally look up at him, but instead of following, you stiffened.
Yondu furrowed his brow. "What?"
You again looked down in shame. "I-... I can't." you said quietly.
He raised an eyebrow and looked towards the house in confusion before turning back to you. "What do ya mean ya 'can't??'"
With a groan you look toward the sky. "If I tell you, you have to promise not to say a word to anyone else." Returning your gaze back to Yondu you finish with a, "Understand?"
Yondu chuckles shortly. "Sure, whatever ya say." Finally- maybe you'd finally tell him what this all was about.
It takes you a few moments, but you finally manage to get out a quiet, "There are spiders in my bed."
He raised an eyebrow, his face a mixture of confusion and amusement. "That's it? Ya found a spider in yer bed, and it sent ya runnin' for the hills?"
You frown at him, then mutter that there were, in fact, two spiders in your bed.
"Ah, two spiders. I see."
From the sound of his voice it was clear he was holding back a laugh, and you frown at him.
Yondu crossed his arms. "Well you'd oughtta know that I'd find that at least a little funny, considering..."
A sigh left your nose. Of course you knew he was referring to the fake spider you had hid in Peter's bed awhile back, and that Yondu had confiscated in an attempt to stop you and Peter from pranking each other. The irony wasn't lost on you either. Didn't make you any happier about your situation, though. "Not helping."
"Are ya asking?"
"What?" You raise an eyebrow.
"Are ya asking?" He says again, almost grinning. "Are ya asking me to help ya with yer little problem."
You stammered a bit, unsure what to say. Of course you weren't! Were you? Should you? Absolutely not- you weren't a child... and yet...
With a short laugh Yondu claps a hand on your shoulder and pushes you toward the house. "Understood. Ya need someone to come squish some creepy crawlies for ya."
You pull away. "No- No I never said that."
"Didn't need to." Yondu said with a grin. "It's all over yer face. Don't worry, I won't tell nobody... long as ya make it worth it."
You narrow your eyes at him. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, nuttin much... Let's just say you'll owe me a favor and we'll call it even."
"What... kind of favor?" you ask, hesitantly.
"Well that's for me to know when the time comes. Do ya want my help or not?"
By now most of your adrenaline was wearing off and you were starting to feel the cold. He was right, you couldn't just stay out here all night- especially without any shoes or jacket. However, at the same time you knew you couldn't go back inside to your bed if those spiders were still in it. Damn it. You knew you were going to have to take his offer.
"Fine. Just... don't make it obvious. Please." Eyes squinting, you search him for any signs that he intended to trick or embarrass you, but you couldn't quite read him.
He didn't answer you either, just motioned you towards the house with that half-grin.
Letting out a silent breath, you finally start to make your way back toward the house, hoping to get it over with a soon as possible.
Once inside it was quiet. It appeared that no one noticed at all that you had even left the house let alone what transpired outside. You didn't peek inside the sitting room door as you approached the staircase, but it seemed the TV had been shut off and you heard someone utter the words "draw four," which told you the others were possibly wrapped in game of cards, which at least let you know they were otherwise occupied.
Yondu and you quietly made your way upstairs to your room, and once there, you hesitated at the door. Yondu simply grinned and shook his head, but entered first anyway, you slowly following behind him after a quick glance around to make sure you were alone upstairs.
Once you were both in the room Yondu glanced over your slightly disheveled bed before nodding, seeing that two spiders were indeed still in your bed. Quietly, but not in a whisper, he says, "These here, I take it?"
You nod.
Shaking his head with an amused grin he got down to business. A sharp whistle pierced the air, summoning his arrow and spearing both of the giant feckers in one go before catching the weapon in his fist. He stood there, admiring his kill stuck upon his arrow.
"They bite?" he asked, curious as to why you harbored such animosity towards these little critters in particular.
You shake your head. "Not really," you answer. They could, but you knew they rarely did. Even if they did they weren't poisonous, for that matter.
"Then why is it ya hate them so bad for?"
You frown at him. You knew it was irrational, but that didn't matter. What mattered now is that they were gone.
Yondu didn't mind your lack of answer, and didn't have time to press the matter further as the sound of footsteps could be heard making their way quickly to the stairs from below before Peter could then be heard somewhat apprehensively calling up from the bottom.
"Um Yondu..." he called, letting a pause linger after as if he were unsure. "We heard a whistle- Like a really familiar whistle... I really hope no one's being threatened with an arrow up there... We noticed that it's just you and the Agent that aren't accounted for..."
"Quit yer worryin,' boy! I was just getting some target practice!" Yondu hollered back down.
"That doesn't exactly inspire confidence about what I just asked!" Peter called back up, sounding a little more worried now.
"Everything's fine," you think to answer back, forcing a laugh into your voice. "Looks like he just took out some spiders."
"Ok..." Peter responds. "If that changes let us know..."
"Come on now!" Yondu scolded, seemingly jokingly. "I'm insulted. Thinkin' I'd just go whippin' out my arrow and be terrorizin' a lady for no reason!"
"Don't give me that!" Peter called up. "I've seen what you do when you're bored!"
Yondu actually looked genuinely offended by that, and with another whistle his arrow took off again and it was seconds before Peter could be heard screaming like a little girl, quickly followed by him scolding Yondu that he 'could have at least cleaned the spider guts off it first!'
Admittedly you had to fight a grin, and Yondu was pleased to see it as he called back his arrow, Peter seemingly having retreated back to the sitting room to rejoin the others after yelling back a final, "Dickhead!" He either ignored, or had been given too much a fright to notice, that the arrow had come out of your bedroom.
The spiders were now gone off the tip of his arrow, but you chose to ignore it as he went to holster it. You could deal with the corpses later- you didn't mind so much if they were dead and you had a dustpan.
Yondu happened to glance over at the bed once his arrow was in its place and noticed he had sliced a clean cut in your bedsheets when he speared the spiders. He gestured to it and said with a half-apologetic chuckle, "Looks like we got a casualty."
You shook your head and told him not to worry about it, but stopped him just as he was turning to leave.
"Um, thank you," you mutter awkwardly, rubbing the back of your head.
He simply grinned back at you cockily and replied, "Just a simple transaction is all. Pleasure to be doing business." With that, he turned and left.
His footsteps sounded down the stairs and you turned to look at your bed before carefully reaching to gingerly pull back your blanket, momentarily wondering if you should have asked him to stay longer just in case you found more, but ultimately knowing you would have felt like even more of a child if you had.
Luckily you found no more, but you did completely strip your bed of it's sheets and remade it with fresh ones, throwing the ones the spiders had spoiled with their presence in your hamper to be washed in the morning. Again, you knew it was irrational, but there was no way you'd be able to bring yourself to sleep in that bed with sheets you knew recently had spiders crawling in them.
This also meant you now needed to go upstairs to the attic to fetch a spare blanket, seeing as yours was also now in the hamper to be washed.
Climbing the attic stairs you couldn't help but also wonder what exactly Yondu would call in for his favor, and if you might come to regret this "transaction," or not. To late for that now, you supposed. All you knew know was that as soon as you retrieved a blanket you were hitting the showers and going straight to bed. Hopefully tomorrow would be better.
* * *
Luckily, the next few days were relatively smooth sailing.
Nearly the first thing you did when you woke up the next morning was to think to order some spider repellent online. Fast shipping of course.
All you had to do in the meantime was wait. Fortunately the spiders seemed to be giving you a break for now. What you didn't know, however, was that the reason for this was largely due to Yondu quietly running any he saw through with his arrow under the guise of target practice and boredom if anyone else noticed. Of course he never mentioned it to you. In fact, he'd barely seen you since that night aside from when you'd come up to him when no one else was around to ask him about that favor you now owed him, only for him to flippantly tell you that he'd figure it out later.
Groot might have possibly eaten a couple spiders as well when he was able to evade Rocket's eye. But that was less for your benefit and more because he wanted a snack.
When the morning came that you got the notification that your spider spray was waiting for you at the post office you quickly readied yourself to go back into town.
Your intent was to slip out quietly, but you were surprised by Mantis speaking up from behind you as you were slipping on your jacket.
"Are you leaving?"
You jolt, not expecting to hear her, and turned only to be surprised to see her wearing a pout. Raising an eyebrow, you answer, "Um, yeah. Just gotta run to the post real quick. Did you need something?"
"I want to see the Terran town! Can I go? Pleeease?"
"Oh-" You blinked, puzzled. She had never expressed interest in going before, at least not that you had noticed? Come to think of it, would that really even be the best idea? People would definitely start staring at her completely black eyes and those antennae...
Wincing slightly, you notice Peter and Gamora walking into the hall, and speak up so they might hear. "You're wanting to go into town, Mantis?" You weren't sure what they'd do, but you hoped they might see the impending bad idea and talk her out of it instead.
"Yes!" She gestured over to Peter, who had now stopped to exchange glances with Gamora upon hearing you. "Peter and Kraglin have gotten to go into town so many times! I want to see too!" She now dropped her pout in favor of excitement, and you were now worried she had mistook your question for an offer.
"Did I hear my name?" Kraglin asked, entering the hall from the kitchen.
Mantis nodded. "Yes! You and Peter got to go with the Agent into town many times. I'm going this time!"
Gamora meets your gaze and she seems to be on the same page as you. "Um, Mantis... I'm not sure-"
Kraglin interrupts, clueless. "Ya better hope the Agent has a hat to cover your feelers there, Mant."
Mantis looks confused, but then Peter chimes in before her feelings even have a chance to be hurt. "Yeah, gotta remember we're undercover."
Now Mantis grins wide and turns back to you excitedly. "Do you have a hat!?"
You just stood there a minute. Blinking. Part of you was annoyed they had seemingly made the decision without you. The other part was surprised that you hadn't thought of covering her with a hat in the first place- after all, you had made Peter wear sunglasses the first time he went into town with you, which wouldn't be too bad an idea in this case too now that you thought of it... Wait- what were you saying? You couldn't take her into town! You've seen how easily distracted she can be-
But damn it- that face! You knew you couldn't say no now. Begrudgingly you reply, "I think I might have something in the attic."
Mantis squealed excitedly as you glide your gaze over to Gamora and Peter. For a moment you wondered why she was looking at Peter that way before she met your gaze again somewhat apologetically and you immediately knew what she was about to say next despite you narrowing your eyes warningly.
"Perhaps Peter should go too?" She glanced back at Peter. "Give Agent a break while she runs her errands?"
You continue to glare at her as Peter shrugs and says he won't argue with a chance to get out of here for a bit. Damn it. You knew she likely just wanted some space again and found an out to get some. You attempted to curb your annoyance with the silver lining that this was further proof that she truly hadn't taken Rocket's words to heart when he pulled that stunt of trying to convince her you were gonna steal Peter.
Then, on cue, Yondu walks through from the sitting room towards the kitchen, only to clap Kraglin on the shoulder and say, "Ya should probably go with 'em too then, Krags. Quill may be watching Bug for the Agent, but who's gonna watch him?"
Yondu laughed as Peter protested the insult, and as you turned your glare to him he threw you a wink right before disappearing into the kitchen. Clearly he had heard the previous conversion happening and simply wished to stir the pot. Bastard.
Taking a deep breath, you state you're going to check the attic real quick for a hat that might work for Mantis. Maybe you'd take your time, figure out how a trip alone turned into you now bringing three people with you. You tell the others to get ready to leave while you look as you turn to head upstairs.
It didn't take you too long to find a hat. There had happened to be one hanging on an old coat rack near the top of the attic stairs. Only thing was it wasn't exactly... subtle. It was an old wide-brimmed sunhat that you think might have belonged to your mother, but you weren't sure. All you know is that you had never even bothered to wear it to play dress-up as a kid, which is probably the only reason it was still in decent condition with as old as it'd have to be.
Without bothering to look around for anything a little less... noticeable... you grabbed the hat, beat off the dust, and headed back downstairs. The faster you'd get all this over with the better. You were just going to pop in and grab your package after all. How much trouble could they possibly get into?
You return downstairs and find that Gamora had left, leaving Peter, Kraglin, and Mantis waiting for you in the hall. She was already wearing the sunglasses and beaming excitedly over how she'd finally get a turn to leave the house. Someone, likely Peter, had already managed to locate them and gave them to her. However, unlike Peter who had put on his jacket and Kraglin who was currently slipping his poncho over his head, Mantis didn't appear to have anything of the sort. When you questioned this, as it wasn't very warm out, she informed you that she didn't have one.
You frowned and handed over the hat, which she put on gleefully. "Wait here a minute. I'll grab you something." And back up the stairs you went, knowing that you had a cardigan or two in your dresser. You pulled out a brown one and went back downstairs to hand it to her. "Ok, now is everyone ready?"
Mantis nodded excitedly as the other two shrugged their affirmatives. They, of course, were happy to get out of the house for a change, but they were no where near as excited as Mantis.
With a sigh, you motion them out the door and off you went.
* * *
Mantis was a chatterbox the whole way into town. She gushed over the trees as you drove past, and pointed out every animal she spotted- mostly livestock- and asked what they were from the back seat.
Admittedly it was a little endearing, her innocent excitement. She didn't even ask "Are we there yet?" throughout the long ride, too enamored with the scenery to care.
Mantis gasped when you finally approached the town, right before she joyously squealed that she was finally getting to see a Terran town. You couldn't help but grin at her enthusiasm as you pulled into a parking spot at the post office.
Rightfully assuming she'd want to come inside to ogle the post office interior, you didn't even bother asking if the others wanted to come inside or stay in the car. Hell, Mantis had practically jumped out before you even parked.
...And started off down the street.
"Mantis!" you yell, causing her to immediately turn around, nearly losing her hat as she done so. "Don't run off, I don't want you getting lost."
"Oh-" Mantis said, before nodding her head with a smile and coming back to rejoin the group and following you into the building.
There was no line today, which you took as a blessing. Wouldn't have to worry about too many people gawking at your housemates as Mantis busied herself ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the postcards in her out of season sunhat and sunglasses getup while Peter and Kraglin watched over her fondly as they glanced over some old magazines, waiting on you to retrieve your package.
Within a few minutes the woman behind the counter handed you over the box with your spider repellent and you thanked her before turning back to the others and gesturing them to follow you out.
The second the four of you were out Mantis piped up asking excitedly where you'd all be going next.
Truthfully, you had only planned to grab your package and head back home, but something about the excitement on her face made you preemptively feel bad to disappoint her. Before you could decide what to do, Mantis announced she spotted some flowers in a window box and then promptly stepped into the street, right in front of an oncoming car.
Luckily Peter was quicker than you in that moment and snatched her back before anything bad could happen, though the driver of the car did yell some choice words at her as he drove by. Mantis wasn't even phased, though Peter did scold her for walking out in front of a car. Perhaps it was good he and Kraglin came after allâŚ
With a stern look you tell Mantis and the others to get in the car before someone actually did get run over.
Sensing that you were displeased with what just happened, Mantis didn't argue, but that didn't stop her from asking again what they could see next.
You thought for a moment... what could it really hurt to stay in town for just a little longer?
"Say, what do you guys think about bringing pizza back for dinner?"
"I mean, I'm game," Peter replies for the other two, "but the cheese might be a problem..."
"Ah shit, right. I forgot about Yondu." you say, frowning, but then a light bulb goes off in your brain. "Oh wait- I can't believe I didn't think of this before! There's medicine for lactose intolerance. We can pick it up right from the shop."
Kraglin raised an eyebrow. "Lactose intolerance? I thought it was that 'dairy' stuff he couldn't have? The hell is 'lactose?'"
"Yes- I mean, lactose intolerance is just what they call it when you can't have dairy. Look-" you shake your head as if waving off the conversation, "If you guys want to try pizza we can pick him up some of that medicine so he can have it too, or we can not do that. Your choice."
Mantis and Kraglin look at Peter for his opinion as he would presumably know if this 'pizza' was worth trying, and so he shrugs and nods. "Sure," he says, the other two deciding to nod with him, Mantis smiling wide- obviously excited to try some new Terran food.
"Alright. We'll stop by the shop first and pick up the medicine. There's this one pizza shop nearby that should be good for carry out."
With no arguments from anyone, you set off for the shop.
Mantis behaved liked an excited toddler. She ran off no fewer than 4 times in what was supposed to be a short visit to just grab some over the counter lactose intolerance medication. Sure, it was still a little endearing to see someone clearly so happy and excited to see so many new things, but also a little exhausting since Peter and Kraglin didn't seemed too concerned with her running all over the place. Some help they were.
You finally check out - with a few extra items like soda and napkins alone with the medicine - and get everyone rounded back up in the car to head off towards the pizza shop.
When you get there you figured three large pizzas would be more than enough to feed everyone, and let the other's look at the menu to decide what they wanted to try and what they thought the others would eat.
In the end the order wound up being one pepperoni and peppers (mostly to have a safe choice), one vegetation with peppers, tomato, mushrooms, and onions, with pineapple and sweet corn on half (Mantis insisted she wanted to try that, and you supposed she could pick them off when she realized that wasn't a great idea), and one loaded up with meats like pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, and even chicken (they figured that would be more enjoyed by Rocket, and probably also easiest to be filling for Drax.)
The place wasn't very busy at the moment, but it still would take a little bit for them to make the pizzas, so you decide to take the others outside to walk about while you wait.
Just like with the post office and the grocery shop, Mantis was amazed with everything, even though you personally didn't see anything particularly special about most of it. Then again, you were used to all of it. To her this was a completely new place. Again, endearing, but increasingly exhausting trying to keep up with her.
Exhausting to the point that you took a moments pause and looked over at Peter who was just chatting to Kraglin with a blasĂŠ attitude. "How do you guys keep up with her?" you ask, a littler perturbed that they weren't help keep track of her as was supposed to be their reason for coming. Well, Peter's anyway. You supposed Kraglin was technically holding up his end since he was staying with Peter, though you knew that whole "If Peter's watching Mantis, who's gonna watch him?" was just Yondu messing around.
Peter shrugged. "We mostly don't. I mean, she's never gotten lost before. She always turns back up sooner or later."
Well that explained why they didn't seem too concerned that she kept running off.
You simply sigh in response and look back in the direction you last saw her, only to see that unlike each time she'd wandered before, this time you had completely lost sight of her.
Eyes wide, you get Peter's attention again. "She's gone."
"Don't worry so much. She'll turn back up. She always does."
You scoff at him and turn to look all around you. You couldn't see her anywhere for a good thirty seconds before finally spotting her by her hat down an alleyway across the street. "Shit. You two stay right here, I'm gonna go grab her."
Not waiting for an answer you took off, quickly avoiding cars as you crossed the street towards Mantis. You were glad it wasn't dark yet, unless you counted the storm clouds that had started moving in on an otherwise overcast day. Last thing you would need was for the sky to open up before you all got back to the pizza shop. But no time for worrying about that now, because you just fully noticed where Mantis was walking.
She was heading toward what appeared to be a white, unmarked van, and you didn't like the looks of it. It was parked at the back of the alley where the alleyway turned, and you could only see the back half, as the front half was obscured by a building.
Rarely does something good ever come from an unmarked van. Especially in an alley. You knew from experience, both from working jobs where you had to find people who used them to kidnap the vulnerable, and from working jobs were you were the one inside the van, tracking those who might do harm. Sure, you might have been the good guy, but what happened to the assholes wasn't exactly nice for them either.
"Mantis!" you call out, picking up the pace, but she doesn't seem to hear you. So, you start jogging as Mantis continued getting closer to the van. You call out her name again, but again, nothing. Damn it. Switching to a full run, you notice the back lights turn on, like someone had just turned the ignition key. If there was someone unsavory in there and they grabbed her they could take off down the rest of the alley and you'd never catch them. What if they were traffickers? What if the people after the Guardians had found them and they were stalking them in that van?
Ok, so maybe you were catastrophizing, but better safe than sorry.
You finally catch up to Mantis and grab her, startling her as you jerked her away from the van. As you start pulling her back in the direction that you came the van pulls away. Perhaps this wasn't 'one of those vans' after all, but still. You had every right to be worried.
"Didn't you hear me call you?"
"No- I'm sorry!" She winced, knowing she messed up. "I didn't mean to run off again- there was just this pretty insect and I didn't want to lose it!"
Whatever the insect had been, it was long gone now, but your anger wasn't. "You just can't keep running off like that. You could have gotten lost. And don't ever go near an unmarked van, do you hear me?" Your tone was harsh, scolding.
"Sorry," Mantis replied, nodding. She looked sad from getting yelled at, but you willed yourself to ignore it.
The two of you were quiet for a moment after, you just focused on getting her back to the others, before Mantis spoke up again. "Agent? Why were you afraid?"
"What? I wasn't afrai-" It was then you realized you were still holding her hand, and you promptly let go of it. "Thought we talked about you not doing that without asking," you scold, irritated.
Mantis apologized again. "I didn't mean to- I promise! You startled me and I just... sort of did it on instinct?"
You toss her a quick glance and see she genuinely just looks so sad to have disappointed you that you can't bring yourself to stay angry. Irritation now softened, you just repeat what you said earlier, "Never go near an unmarked van, 'kay? They're just not safe." You hoped she wouldn't ask why, as you weren't sure you cared to explain just what sort of horrible things you'd seen them be used for in the past.
She didn't. Mantis simply nods and the rest of the short walk back was silent. You considered texting Maria about the van so they could look into it just in case, but if it turned out to be nothing or wasn't even actually 'unmarked' (since you only saw the back half of one side) you didn't want the fallback, so you didn't.
When the two of you reached Peter and Kraglin you suggested that you all head back to the pizza shop to wait. They got the hint that you needed to cool down a little and so didn't speak much on the way back. Even Mantis restrained herself from her former excited antics, walking quietly beside Peter with her head down, and honestly you were starting to feel bad for yelling at her. Yes, she needed to be more careful, but she was just excited.
The pizzas were ready pretty much as soon as you walked through the door, and after paying you and walking to the car you asked Mantis if she wanted to be charged with the task of holding the pizzas on the way home. She seemed to perk up a bit at having been given a job, and you cracked at smile when she remarked how warm they were in her lap.
Mantis was less excited on the way home, and at first you thought she was still sad, but a glance backward made you smile when you realized the reason for her silence was that she had fallen asleep.
You guessed the heat from the pizza boxes combined with the rain that was now coming down around you, was just cozy enough to put her to sleep.
The rain had mostly let up by the time you got home and after Peter woke Mantis and brought the pizza's inside, you placed the pizzas in the oven to heat them back up a bit before eating, as the ride from town to home wasn't exactly short.
While you waited you presented Yondu with the lactose intolerance medicine.
"What's this?" he asked, looking at the bottle.
"It's something to keep you from shitting yourself to death after eating dinner," you reply cheekily.
Yondu narrowed his eyes at you.
"It's up to you though. You can always find something else to eat if you don't trust it."
He could smell the food, and it actually smelled pretty good. He also didn't feel like making something else for himself if there was already food made, so he shrugged his shoulders and took a dose. "This better work," he said, washing it down with some water.
"Yeah, for all our sakes," Peter quipped from behind the two of you, earning a glare from Yondu before exiting the kitchen with Kraglin and Mantis to tell the others you guys brought food back.
Now that it was just the two of you, you thought to ask, "Um, if it does work, I don't suppose this will count towards whatever favor I owe you?"
Yondu just laughed and shook his head before leaving the kitchen.
"I guess I should have expected that..." you say after him in response, slightly cringing at how obvious you were making it that you were nervous about what he might ask for in return for his 'services.' You weren't used to owing other people. It felt weird.
* * *
Dinner went pretty well.
Everyone enjoyed the pizza, even Yondu who'd made the previous complaint that 'Terrans put that 'dairy shit' in everything.' And surprisingly to you, Mantis actually didn't wind up pulling the pineapple or sweet corn off her pizza. Neither did Kraglin, who also had some of that half of the pie. More power to them, you supposed.
On the flip side, unsurprisingly Groot didn't eat much, considering his tiny size. He mostly picked the toppings off one of Rocket's slices. Or was it his own slice? You couldn't tell. All you knew was Rocket put two slices on one plate and sat Groot down with him on the countertop where Groot ate the toppings off the slice Rocket left on the plate and Rocket finished off the slice when Groot had his fill of the toppings.
Also, luckily for everyone, the lactose intolerance medicine worked for Yondu. Well, mostly.
You all weren't run out of the house like the previous incidents, but every so often throughout the evening as you were winding down in your room you could hear Kraglin loudly complaining and Yondu laughing from their bedroom across the hall, each time preceded by fart noises. You couldn't help but laugh and be grateful that the smell didn't waft over to your side of the hall, and that your door was also closed if it did.
Mantis was holding back giggles as well when Kraglin could be heard proclaiming that he was gonna go sleep in Drax and Rocket's room after the third or fourth time. Yondu was only heard laughing in response and making some quip about having the room to himself.
The two of you shared a look and you could tell she no longer thought you were mad at her for running off earlier, and you were glad. It made you feel better knowing she was no longer sad about the situation, but you still took the time then to apologize for yelling at her, and in turn she apologized for running off so many times.
All in all, the day seemed like a success to you. Nothing truly bad happened in town, no one argued at dinner, and you sprayed the house down with the spider repellent that evening so it was very unlikely you'd be finding anymore spiders in your bed anytime soon.
Speaking of spraying the repellent, it seemed Gamora had either convinced the others to tidy up around the house while you were gone, or she had done so herself as perhaps a thank you for agreeing to take Peter into town to give her some space, because you noticed the house definitely seemed cleaner than you left it as you went about spraying in the corners and windows with the repellent. You made a mental note to thank her in the morning.
You were in a pretty good mood, all things considered. Much better than the other day when you nearly punched Yondu in the face.
And with the house already seemingly cleaned, the only thing really left to do was to think about what you wanted to do tomorrow, but now that you thought about it, there wasn't really anything pressing that needed done. You could maybe try and take some time to do an inspection of that tunnel like you had been meaning to? Or you could just take a day to just do nothing? Spend the day outside, taking a walk through the woods while you can before the weather really starts getting colder?
Oh wait- Fury should be coming tomorrow for another check-in and restock. Guess that means both a day-long walk or tunnel inspection are out of the question. You should really be around and available when he shows up- whatever time that could wind up being. One of these times he's probably going to come at midnight just to keep you on your toes.
Although, thinking about it some more, it has been a few days since you played the remote prank on Peter... that should be able to keep you plenty entertained while you wait for Fury and Maria to come and go.
You should see about getting the remote back from Rocket tomorrow.

Peter, Drax, and Groot tried multiple ways to open the door. Gamora finally broke the security system, allowing them access. It wasnât long before they were noticed by guards.
She blasted a hole through the upper layer and jumped up. She shot at the soldiers. Drax slashed one in the back. Peter aimed the Hadron at Ronanâs back in the distance. He turned around as it powered up. Peter fired, hitting him in the chest. A bright light erupted, causing everyone to look away. Blue smoke rose. Peter turned off his helmet, checking to see if it worked.
âYou did it!â Drax exclaimed.
Peterâs smile faded when he noticed Ronan stand back up, seemingly unscathed. Gamora and Peter shared a look of shock. Ronan aimed his hammer at him.
He turned it, and the gang was sent flying back. Drax was knocked into the stairs but recovered quickly. He yelled and charged at Ronan. Ronan grabbed him in a chokehold, picking him up. He struggled in his grasp, choking.
âI was mistaken. I do remember your family,â Ronan started. âTheir screams were pitiful. IâŚâ
He turned his head when he heard a ship flying toward the window. Rocket yelled and crashed through the window, knocking them all back. Meanwhile, EliĹĄka looked as pale as a ghost, terrified and trying to brace for impact.
Peter ran and grabbed Groot, pulling him out of the way. The ship hit the wall and left everything in ruins around it. The Dark Aster slowly began to fall.
Groot stood back up, looking around at the damage. Peter climbed into Rocket and EliĹĄkaâs ship to make sure they were alright. Rocket sat unconscious while EliĹĄka groaned in pain, blinking. A few cuts on her face dripped blood.
Peter unbuckled Rocket from the seat and pulled him out. Next, he reached his hand out to her arm, helping her stand. Peter tried to help EliĹĄka climb out. Feeling unsteady, she ungracefully collapsed to the floor, wincing from the pain. Peter shot her an apologetic glance. She slowly stood back up, limping slightly. The Dark Aster began to shake.
Gamora dragged an unconscious Drax to safety. The gang crouched together. Peter held Rocket, still unconscious from the crash. EliĹĄka gave Rocket a worried look. She almost reached her hand out to him before she remembered, pulling away. Debris started to fall around them. The ship began hurtling toward the ground.
Realization shone on Grootâs face. He focused on growing his roots, growing out to branches. They all watched as he formed the branches around them as a shield.
Rocket finally came to, still weak. EliĹĄka noticed and sighed in relief. Gamora watched as the branches enclosed them. The barrier Groot created kept them as safe as he could manage as the ship crashed down.
Fires burned outside the barrier. Groot grew out more to hook to the ship. The gang watched as he grew more and more, emitting spores again. Groot protectively wrapped vines around Draxâs body.
Rocketâs throat burned. He attempted to hold back tears but failed. âNo, Groot! You canât.â He touched his chest, looking up at him. âYouâll die.â His voice broke. âWhy are you doing this? Why?â
Groot reached out a small vine and gently touched Rocketâs cheek. A few tears ran down his face as he frowned.
Groot teared up as well. âWe are Groot.â
EliĹĄka didn't have to understand his language to know what he was doing. Her breath shuddered, and not just from the physical pain she was in.
The ship headed toward the city, crashing and taking out buildings and structures with it. Explosions went off, causing huge clouds of smoke and fire. Embers hung in the dark sky.
---
They lay on the ground, processing what happened. Drax struggled to move his arm. A broken-off piece of the ship radio lay near, faintly playing music. Gamora groaned in pain as she tried to move. Peterâs face was littered with cuts. He tried to roll on his side. EliĹĄka slowly rose to her knees, coughing from the air. She glanced to the side, seeing her gun had been broken into multiple pieces.
While they all slowly got up, Rocket was on his knees, holding a sprout from Grootâs remains. He sat hunched over, looking down at it. âI called him an idiot.â He murmured, regret and heartbreak in his voice.
EliĹĄka hung back, wanting to comfort him but deciding to give him space. She sighed and closed her eyes, letting a few tears roll down her face.
The rest of them tried to recover from the crash. Some of the citizens of Xandar found them, all processing what happened. Gamoraâs eyes widened in shock as Ronan appeared out of the smoke, Rocket unaware that he was behind him.
âRocketâŚâ EliĹĄka wheezed. Her mouth felt dry.
He turned his head at the sound of footsteps. The citizens shook in fear. Rocket stood up and turned around. Fury filled him. âYou killed Groot!â He screamed.
Rocket charged at him, ready to attack. Ronan used his hammer, causing him to get flung back. He hit the ground, slamming into the debris.
âRocket!â EliĹĄka cried. Her hands sparked flames, but they went out quickly.
âBehold! Your Guardians of the Galaxy.â Ronan gestured mockingly. âWhat fruit have they wrought?â
As he tried to get up, Rocket noticed a weapon in front of him. He quickly worked on repairing it the best he could.
As Ronan continued with his grand speech, Rocket, Drax, and Gamora shared a knowing look. Gamora looked at Peter.
âPeople of Xandar, the time has come to rejoice and renounce your paltry gods!â Ronan shouted.
The citizens cowered in fear.
âYour salvation is at hand.â He raised his hammer, ready to strike the ground. He chanted in Kree.
As he was speaking, Peter interrupted him by singing one of his favorite songs. He stood in front of him, starting to dance. Ronan slowly lowered his hammer, surprised.
Peter pointed at him. âListen to these words.â He continued singing.
Ronan stood, genuinely baffled. Gamora tilted her head, watching in annoyance. Everyone remained speechless.
âNow bring it down hard!â Peter upped the dancing.
âWhat are you doing?â Ronan asked, confused.
âDance-off, bro. Me and you.â
âCo to kurva jeâŚ??â EliĹĄka muttered under her breath, squinting her eyes.
As he danced, Ronan still remained silent, taken aback. Peter reached his hand out to Gamora.
âGamora.â
She quickly shook her head no, feeling second-hand embarrassment.
âSubtle. Take it back.â
âWhat are you doing?â Ronanâs confusion turned into annoyance.
âIâm distracting you.â
Ronan turned around to the sound of a gun being cocked. Drax stood holding the Hadron, aiming at him. Rocket connected the two wires, and the gun fired. It struck the hammer, causing it to crumble. The Stone sent out waves, slowing everything down. Peter reached for the Stone as it floated midair. Ronan tried to reach for it at the same time.
Gamora reached out as well. âNo!â
Peter grabbed it, setting off an explosion. A tornado of purple energy raged around him. The power painfully surged through his body, causing him to scream and writhe on the ground. Blasts of energy flew out of the Stone. His body was beginning to break down.
The gang tried to hold on to surrounding debris as the wind pushed them back. Ronan watched, triumphant as Peter screamed in agony. The citizens watched in the distance as the huge purple clouds surrounded the Guardians. Explosions went off.
Gamora used all her strength to try to reach him. âPeter! Take my hand!â She yelled, forcibly holding out her hand.
Pieces of his face started to peel. He slowly turned to look at her. His eyes had been turned pure black. Instead of seeing Gamora, he had a vision of his past. His mother, sick and dying from cancer, reached her hand out to him.
âTake my hand, Peter,â she spoke.
âMom.â He uttered, shocked.
âTake my hand!â
Tears formed in his eyes as he looked at his mother. The vision ended, now seeing Gamora instead.
He reached out to grab her hand. The power burned through her body, causing her to shout. Ronan watched all of this, perplexed. Drax struggled to reach Peter but managed to grab onto his shoulder, the power affecting him as well. Their veins glowed brightly.
Rocket grabbed and held onto Draxâs hand. He screamed in pain as it flowed through his body.
Tears flowed from EliĹĄkaâs eyes as the energy filled the air. The tie from her hair had broken, causing her wild red hair to blow in the raging winds. She could hear her heartbeat pounding in her ear.
âEliĹĄka!â Rocket managed to shout out, reaching out his paw.
She shook her head. âI canât!â
âDo it!â
The blood roared in her ears. She panted, feeling the harsh wind against her body. She bit down on her lip, tasting blood. Without thinking further, she grabbed his paw, feeling the painful energy flowing through her body.
Besides the power of the Stone traveling through his system, he began to feel his paw grow hot. The tears on EliĹĄka's face seemed to float upward from the force of the Stone. She tried to let go, but Rocket gripped her hand tighter.
"Rocket! No! I'm gonna burn you!" She cried.
He ignored the growing heat he felt. Smoke seeped through their hands. "No, you won't! Get it under control!" He insisted.
"I can't!" Her heart pounded.
"Yes, you can! Do it! Now!"
His words echoed through her head. Despite the chaos happening around them, she closed her eyes and tried to calm her breathing, focusing on getting her emotions under control. She focused on distributing her energy to the Stone's power instead, quieting down the Embering. She opened her eyes slightly, still squinting from the raging winds.
Rocket could feel the heat lessen on his paw. She'd done it. He probably would've cheered if everything around them wasn't currently madness.
As the power was distributed between all of them, they were able to withstand it better. They all looked at Ronan.
âYouâre mortal! How?â Ronan shook his head in disbelief.
Peterâs eyes glowed, now purple. âYou said it yourself, bitch. Weâre the Guardians of the Galaxy.â
Ronan growled in anger. Before he could strike, Peter opened his palm, unleashing more of the Stoneâs power. Peter smiled faintly as the energy attacked Ronan, causing him to levitate. He roared as the power destroyed him, blowing his body apart.
Gamora finally used the Orb to contain the Stone. Rocket took a few shuddering breaths as the power faded. They all panted from exhaustion as the clouds faded. Gamora looked at Peter, relieved it was over.
âWell, well, well. Quite the light show.â Yondu appeared with the other Ravagers behind him. âAinât this sweet.â
One of the Ravagers cocked his gun.
âBut you got some business to attend to before all the nookie-nookie starts.â He walked toward them.
âPeter, you canât. Peter.â Gamora begged, referring to the Stone.
âYou gotta reconsider this, Yondu.â He shook his head. âI donât know who youâre selling this to, but the only way the universe can survive is if you give it to the Nova Corps.â
The other Ravagers shook their heads, disagreeing.
âI may be as pretty as an angel,â he showed his arrow, âbut I sure as hell ainât one.â He held his hand out. âHand it over, son.â
Peter swallowed, thinking of what to do. He pulled out the sphere. Gamora didnât hide her disappointment. He handed it to Yondu, causing him to grin. He signaled to the other Ravagers to move out.
âYondu,â Peter called out.
He stopped and turned to look at him.
âDo not open that Orb. You know that, right? Youâve seen what it does to people.â He warned.
Yondu stayed silent, briefly pointing at him before turning away. He laughed as he walked away. The Guardians stood in silence, watching as the Ravagers moved out.
---
Yondu and Kraglin watched the Guardians out of the window of the ship as it took off.
âYeah, Quill turned out okay. Itâs probably good we didnât deliver him to his dad like we was hired to do,â Kraglin commented.
âYeah, that guy was a jackass.â He agreed.
The Xandar citizens and Guardians watched as the ship flew away.
âHe is gonna be so pissed when he realizes I switched out the Orb on him.â Peter held up the real Orb.
Gamora chuckled in relief.
âHe was gonna kill you, Peter.â She looked up at him.
âOh, I know.â He looked up at the ship. âBut he was about the only family I had.â He glanced down at the Orb.
Gamora placed her hand on top of the Orb. âNo.â She looked up, smiling faintly and shaking her head. âHe wasnât.â
Rocket sat down on a rock, silently crying as he held the small twig remains of Groot in his paws. He held it close to his chest. EliĹĄka sat next to him in silence, keeping him company. She looked down at her hands, fidgeting with her black gloves.
Drax slowly walked over and sat down next to him, opposite EliĹĄka. Rocket glanced at him and then away, not caring about continuing to cry in front of him.
Drax carefully reached out his hand, trying to comfort him by petting his head. Rocket flinched at first, not expecting it. He didnât immediately lash out, instead sighing. EliĹĄka had a sad smile on her face as she watched them.
The citizens stood in the distance, holding onto each other.
