In Yo-Kai Watch 3 at the the end of the game when you talk to Nate's mom as Nate one of the lines that you can get is "Don't do what I did as a boy, and leave your summer project to the last day.", and while this is probably just a translation error, it's become my personal headcanon that Lily and Aaron Adams are a t4t couple lol.

Another Venoct headcanon

Venoct, Shad. Venoct, and Illuminoct are brothers

Shad. Venoct's the oldest

Venoct's the middle child who needs therapy and refuses it like the plague

And Illuminoct's the youngest brother and basically the baby of the Venoct brothers (He’s not really a baby, it’s just that he’s younger than Venoct or Shad. Venoct)

So I have quite a few different headcanons for the games so I’m just gonna list off some of the more general ones and the ones for the first game (mostly?). Some of them are implied or kind of hinted at, others not.

(Most, if not all, of these can work for either Katie or Nate but since I play as Nate that is what I’ll be writing)

1. A lot more time passes between the games than it does in canon; there’s almost a year between the yokai elevator getting sealed and the yokai returning so Nate is like 12 during the infinite inferno debacle.

2. Lucas and the yokai watch went with the other yokai when the elevator sealed but the medalium and the medals within did not. Nate takes to carrying the medallium around with him in his school bag as a keepsake of sorts, he takes it out sometimes just to stare at the medals.

3. Nate cried immediately after the yokai left as he sat admiring the cherry blossoms. He spent the coming weeks just subconsciously looking for any sign of yokai meddling or his friends just to be reminded that they weren’t there anymore.

4. Nate actually starts seeing and sensing yokai on his own very early on but it’s only like a vague silhouette or sensation in the back of his mind until he scans them. After he’s scanned a yokai they are visible to him forever, unless they’re putting proper effort into hiding that is. This ability to see and sense the spirits slowly gets stronger the longer he’s exposed to em.

5. Between the events of the yokai watch one plot and the infinite inferno, Nate starts volunteering at shoten temple; cleaning off the graves and replacing the flowers around them. He gets paid by the monk (not a lot but ya know) but he isn’t there for the money, it just makes him feel closer to the spirits since he’s doing something to honour the dead.

6. In a similar vein as the last one, he also spends a lot of time up on mount wildwood, mostly around the sacred tree. He’ll do his homework sat leaning against the trunk or even sitting up in the lower branches, no one ever comes back there so it’s kind of his little safe haven.

7. Nate got really into drawing so that he could remember exactly what his friends looked like, he has little fun facts written between each drawing; things about them and who they are as people that you could only know if you knew them personally. He also has a separate little sketch book full of drawings of the bugs he’d caught.

8. The cats up on mount wildwood love him.

9. Nate ends up like weirdly desensitized to a lot of stuff revolving death or anything like gross, he’s dealt with too much to be fazed.

10. He couldn’t look at spiders the same way after the tarantutor incident. Like he isn’t scared of them but they definitely aren’t his favorite thing in the world.

11. Nate acts all annoyed with jibanyan’s chocobar obsession but he’s secretly the one making sure they always have some at home. He told his mom they were his favorite n’ everything.

12. Jibanyan sleeps curled up at the foot of Nate’s bed and cuddles with him whenever he has a nightmare, whisper sleeps next to the bed to keep watch over him.

13. Nate has in fact gotten caught off guard by yokai (it takes him a second to summon his team) and even caught in the crossfire during fights, be it by the yokai themselves or the general debris created. He has a couple small scars from such instances alongside the random scars one gets just by going through life.

14. Boy just in general cannot mind his own business, if he sees anyone looking even slightly concerned he will ask what’s up. He loves being helpful.

15. He has little sleeves with individual slots for medals in the pockets of his cargo pants so he can actually carry like twelve medals without his bag, it’s six medals per pocket, it’d be more if he wanted to just have them rattling around in there but it’s hard as shit to keep track of so he usually sticks to just the six in his right pocket.

For example, i like the idea of Fumi's parents being divorced, they just occasionally spend time with their daughter together

One of the funniest parts about the whole “Leo not giving Draxum any grace” idea is that Draxum is one of the ONLY notable older men in the show that Leo isn’t willing to give a proper second chance to OR really hear out in the first place.

Kyubi can’t actually pull off an entire conversation with multiple people without freezing up and that their charismatic personality is their only saving grace

Okay, but seriously, I honestly don’t think that Kyubi can pull off an entire conversation with multiple people at once without thinking of every possible worse case scenario and nearly giving themself a panic attack in the process and in the end, just straight up saying something stupid before dashing off

Like, sure, they might be able to pull off a conversation with like, one or two people, maybe even three or four (Assuming they knew a lot about the person(s)), but anything more than that, and their mind goes blank

I say this because Kyubi is based off a Kitsune, which, in Japanese Mythology, is a mystical fox known for possessing women and using them to seduce men, but in reality, foxes are INCREDIBLY skittish and scared as all hell of humans (As well as water, flashing lights, and loud noises) and in my au, animal Yokai (Or humanoid yokai based off animals more specifically) have both the traits of humans and the animal they are respectively based off

My conclusion?

Kyubi secretly has social anxiety and hides it using their charismatic personality and charm

THE NATE LORE EXPLAINED..

Nathan “Nate” Adams Hazeltine.. That’s quite the long name he has there!!!🪲💫 He got married at 23!!

Extra Facts About My Version: 🇵🇷🇯🇵🏳️‍⚧️(FTM), + BI

Age 11: Well, that’s just Nate.. Kept him very. Canon!!! Except I added beauty marks, I’ve always seen him with those!!!!! Recently a little freckles, too… He plays video game and catch bug!!!! I wanted to make him look very, uh, silly! Round face is important, after all Whisper said he looks like a turnip..

Age 16: See now we’re really taking some creative liberties!!! Face is a bit more developed, but still round.. It’s always going to be. Of course, he’s a sweaty awkward teenager.. So, I gave him a little acne and that struggling smile. Nate at this age is really trying to find himself, and refuses to accept being “average.” He’s forcing himself to be a bit more eccentric, and he’s not very happy about it, if he were to be honest with himself!!! Aside from trying to show that through his expression, I also decided to give him some more.. bold fashion choices that realistically I wouldn’t see him wearing. Dyed strand of hair (how rebellious), big earrings, and Hailey dared him to pierce his nose.. He’s sticking with it, it helps him stand out!!!!

His 20’s: Awkward teen years are over, he’s comfortable now, bless!!! I wanted to show that by simplifying him a bit, and also making him have a reserved expression. He’s peaceful, he accepts that he’s considered average. He also ended up liking the nose piercing!!!!! This is a pivotal time in his life, and I want him to be happy during it. Oh, and he has a scar now but don’t worry!!! That’s just from adventuring with his lover.. It’s Buck, DUH. Don’t worry, those aren’t gray hairs YET, just some strands lighter from being in the sun!! 🌞

His 40’s (also very late 30’s): This is probably my favorite age to draw him, honestly. He’s OLD, okay?! Old and content!!!! My thoughts with his design at this point is.. he’s been through a lot, but he’s enjoyed it. He’s really lived life, and although he doesn’t live as adventurously as he did when young, he finds joy in the little things now. He’s a family man, for sure. His daughter tires him, which I attempt to show through expression yet again, but he still loves her more than anything, so his smile remains, if not a bit softer. Also his metabolism slowed.. THAT’S JUST LIFE!! He’s got a few gray hairs as well, with his child being a handful.. and, no, he’s probably not going to get that haircut he planned to. ALSO, ALSO.. one day he dropped his piercing jewelry and by the time he found it, the piercing had already closed!! Oopsie…
