After having so much fun with Yellowjackets Appreciation Week (thank you @yellowjacketsweek for the inspiration) we thought we should have a Yellowjackets Month! And is there a better month to spend celebrating our favourite cannibal show than October? You can use those prompts, mix them together as you please and post at any time during the month of October. Taissa Turner doesn't believe in the Wilderness, in spirits, in monsters. She definitely doesn't believe in vampires. None of that stuff can possibly be real.

It can, however, still upend her entire life.

Chapter 1/4 - 1996

M, 15.1 words

She wakes in the woods. It’s happening a lot, waking in the woods, no memory whatsoever of what brought her here. More and more with each passing week, even. She considers telling the others—Shauna or Van, at least—and dismisses the thought each morning. She’s supposed to be strong. She’s supposed to be steady. She isn’t supposed to be the kind of person who sleepwalks into the trees, waking with mud crusted under her nails and a sour tang in her mouth. The idea of them finding out bothers her almost more than the event itself.

blossom within the skull. They’re not themselves anymore by the time they escape. They’re not even human anymore. (oneshot, 7k words, taivan and jackieshauna. A kinda-sorta Annihilation au. Written for yjoctober2023. Prompt 4: Yellowjackets reimagined as a different genre)

The children pulled themselves from fire and steel and into Its home, staring with wide scared eyes at the deer with vines spilling from an open wound in its flank, the owl with thorns and nettles poking out between its feathers, the corpse in the cabin with chanterelles erupting from its eyes, yarrow blooming from its gaping mouth.

The corpse, they called it, until they saw it breathe.

In the attic, under a bearskin rug, a journal. The pages molded beyond recognition, except the last.
