I went through the 5 stages of grief with this one.

I struggled very much with the background and was focused on the details too much before. Now, after letting it rest for about 5 months, i feel much more comfortable with the approach of bigger shapes in a „painted piece“.

My big shapes approach is usually very line driven, but apparently it trained me to focus on shape & framing first, lighting second. I was trying to have this piece in the style of very rendered concept art before, but thinking about the correct lighting on clothes shifted my focus on the wrong thing. It‘s not necessarily the goal to make the light look realistic, but to guide the eye to the most important point with ✨shapes✨ (at least thats the lesson i learned for myself)
