so i think where the “transgender dogman allegory” comes from the most is the book “brawl of the wild” where dogman’s whole thing of being half human/dog really shines.

theres several scenes where the fact he doesnt fit in BECAUSE of not “fully being a dog or a man” is put on display. which i think could directly reflect the complexities that a lot of trans people deal with about facing the typical gender binary that society™ has set. and how difficult it can be to break free from those archetypes.

the books sorta harken back to this later on, (ex. opening to twenty thousand fleas under the sea)

but he does grow more comfortable with himself bc he actually has friends who support him. i think you could possibly make the argument here that this is similar to how most trans people will seek support outside of their familial unit, making their own “family” if you will that see them for what they truly are (thats definitely a stretch but yknow shut up)

were hitting fanon/headcanon territory here but most people in the fandom have expressed the idea that dogman isnt fully happy with his new body, or feeling uncomfortable in it. which you can read as body dysphoria 100% i think.

overall i think dogman’s journey as a character demonstrates a lotta things that trans people can also relate to in a certain way, that their identity does not need to fit neatly into a predefined category to be valid.
