The most important part of our quick map circuit is Flymm's Cobblers, which is actually the reason I decided to do a quick sweep in the first place because I remembered it was definitely Durge-relevant.
Rakha did not have a chance to talk to the guy in the House of Hope who explains that Gortash's parents sold him to Raphael, so she doesn't have the same context that Hector did for learning that Gortash's parents are here and tadpoled.
Connect your tadpole to hers. Delve into her mind.
Narrator: You search her mind, but the psionic forces that control her are different, split somehow. Your own consciousness slips into the gap.
Help me. Gods, help me! Enver's ruined my mind. He's taken my body! I should've slammed the door in his face, but I let him in, and he rammed some kind of worm in our eyes. I'm here, but I can't speak. I can't act. I'm trapped.
"What exactly happened?" Rakha asks, listening to the strange, warbling rhythm of the old woman's thoughts.
We hadn't seen him in so long, Sally Flymm answers. I knew he was an animal, but I underestimated him. He sauntered in - 'Lord Gortash.' What a name, conjured up like a cheap trick. Said he was back - for good - and he wanted to repay us for his childhood. Still bitter after all these years. But we did what was best for him, for all of us. We had debts, world-ending debts trying to keep this cursed shop afloat. Dangerous lenders who said they'd bury us all if we didn't pay. Then a warlock offered us a pretty penny for Enver's service. He was a smart boy, too smart. It was give him up and all of us live, or refuse and die. What choice did we have?
Rakha takes this in silently, unimpressed. She has no love for Gortash - but this story rings too closely to the tale of Wyll's father turning him out in the cold. If she wants to get poetic, even to her own father who ripped the blood out of her body when she wouldn't do what he wanted.
"You had every choice,"(*) she says curtly.
We got good coin for him, Sally answers. Closed our debts, and all of us kept our lives - Enver included. You may disagree. Enver did. But we don't deserve this - this torment. You're the first person who's heard the real me in months.
Rakha can hear the trapped woman's desperation, and is in a way grateful that she's spared from having to decide what to do about it. She can't even get the worm out of her own head, let alone someone else's.
"I could put you out of your misery, if you like," she says curtly. It's not really a serious offer, but more sardonic - a reflection that once again, the only idea that comes to her is killing.
There has to be another way! Sally wails. I deserve to live again! I deserve my own life!
Rakha shrugs. "There's nothing I can do for you, at least for now. I'm sorry."
There has to be! I can't live like this! I'm trapped... trapped! Sally wails, as Rakha breaks the connection and backs away.
-----
The conversation with Gortash's father is even more unnerving.
Narrator: You delve into his mind and find... nothing. Like someone or something has drained his mind of all personality.
Troubling.
Upstairs, though, are a few documents that Rakha can't help but find interesting - because they are documents from Gortash's original plans for the Absolute and the domination of Baldur's Gate.
First, a book labeled "The Ultimate State":
And second and far more important, a book of letters in a box, labeled "Scrapbook of Letters":
The earliest plans, letters between Gortash and... Rakha herself. She peers with great curiosity at the cipher in her handwriting, symbols that she doesn't recognize.
It makes her terribly uncomfortable and yet... uncomfortably fascinating at the same time. It is a piece of the past she cannot remember, the person she used to be. Evidence of the bloodsoaked bond she once had with Gortash, the man she is en route to kill.
After thinking about it for a long time, she stuffs the letters in her pocket and stalks out of the shop, leaving Gortash's parents locked inside their skulls.
-----
(*) Shortened version of the in-game line, "You had every choice. You sold your son to a warlock - that's unforgiveable" to sound a little more Rakha-ish.

When she said “being this young is art” and when she said “we’re so young but we’re on the road to ruin” and when she said “don’t you think I was too young to be messed with” and when she said “give me back my girlhood it was mine first”

If I had a nickel for every time Aabria made one of her players live to regret the blithe casting of the Command spell on an ally I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.Â

Heroine's common sense is pretty delightful.
Also this? Yikessssss, Yanxi, yikes!!!!
Someone import a therapist or perhaps a self-help book for this dude about not doing what your abusive father figure wants even if you don't want it so as to try to please them. ENMESHED IN THE WORST WAY OMG.
Honestly, I love her.
Aaaand she dumps him. Yeah, it's supposed to be so emperor won't have a lever against him to make him do crazier and crazier things to prove empy is stll n1 for Yanxi but I'd also like to think it's self-preservation on her part - nothing good would come of being enmeshed with that psycho an in-law!!!
A delightful paradox - empy punished the Shens extra because Yanxi pleaded for them so if Yanxi is unattached and heartless he actually doesn't have to do as much heinous stuff. And once Yanxi mentions to the emperor he and FL broke up, emperor is all "awwww, that's too bad, oh you can let Shens go now." It's beginning to occur to me that he didn't kill Yanxi's dad for treason per se, but because he wants to be the only sky for his nephew and he's gonna fuck him up until he gets there and stays there. That is fascinating. Honestly, there are bones of a truly interesting, dark and dysfunctional story here, buried by a surface, inconsistent script and lacking acting.

yikessssss as mclaren fans we do not need to be hating on oscar — but we do have to hold the team accountable to having a fucking plan for this. yeah yeah let them race, but we want to WIN as a team and if that means that they need to have team orders or they need to have a game plan for getting ahead then we have to make sure we’re doing that. but giving shit to oscar for racing is not it yall.

Random question time. If you could get rid of one weapon class in Splatoon what would it be?
My heart wishes to say chargers because God damn they are so annoying, but I know that removing them would be a bad idea for balance and variety.
However I feel like the one class that could get removed and not impact the gameplay is... the brella class.
Now look, is the idea of a brella cool and aesthetically pleasing? Sure, using a brella looks cool, but... as a shotgun weapon? It's kinda ass.... and I'm talking about all of the brellas not just the main one.
They all have poor damage, poor range, the pellets don't spread that far, etc. Rollers are way better as a shotgun like class in that they have low range but VERY HIGH damage and fast time to kill. They also have a vertical flick that allows you to poke at distant enemies. They also fire off more ink and have a situational roll move where you can run over peeps, and it's pretty satisfying They are very versatile and can do multiple different roles effectively.
The only decent brella you can argue is the tenta brella and even then it still has noticeable weaknesses that good players can exploit like its slow firing rate and long charge time to fire off the shield. The recycled brella is fun to use but it's not that good competitively speaking. And the undercover brella..... ew... just... yikessssss...
I really do hope that in the next game we see the brellas get a massive rework and be actually good. Because the design of the weapons look really lovely and you can take some nice shots with them.

broooo omg imagine 127 passing glares at some of reyna’s members around the sm building because they know all the shit they’ve said about jooha
and poor fucking jooha man, bro was just picked on by so many people throughout his years growing up in korea :((
ya ilichil doesnt fuck around when it comes to their kids. reyna's a tough cookie and can stand up for herself, so they're even more defensive of jooha who cant really defend himself or doesnt want to 'cause he doesnt see why he has to the second reyna snitches on her members to her dads, ohhhhhhhhhhhh boy. any bit of help they were giving her members went out the window. instead of helping, they make the members' lives helllll. taeyong is a lot more strict, he doesn't give as many water breaks, their practice hours are longer, etc. most of the boys honestly wont even look at them which is the worst part because if you're bowed to then you're supposed to bow back, but these kids bow to ilichil and then the boys just ignore them. yikessssss.
it slowly goes back to "normal" over time. during reyna's first world tour, she gets closer with her members and they're all on good terms by the time they come back-- maturity does wonderous things. so when reyna's ready to trust them for a second chance, so are the boys.
