wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌
Tumblr media
now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.
then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.
here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶
youtube
turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.
however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.
SO MY CONFUSION COMES FROM HOW THE HELL DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HE RECENTLY LISTENED TO. I can’t seem to dig up how or maybe it’s something we don’t talk about. I have never experienced this kind of tidbit related to them before so I wanna know the source. Or is this like the gaming cpn where certain people know and they will not divulge the boy’s account for privacy? if anyone knows, feel free to comment. If i find out in the future, I will share.

Corruption Game Ch.2 (Su Ji x Ha Rin)
Previous Chapter
Tumblr media
Ch.2
Su Ji
“Vitamin?”
“Sure.” She accepted the offer.
She chewed down on the supplement. It had a lemony taste with bitter tones mixed in. The broken pieces soon dissolved along her palate.
“Do you still talk to Ja Eun?” The girl next to her asked.
“No, I haven’t seen her for a couple of days.”
“Are you two planning something?”
She turned to Ha Rin. The girl was looking at her inquisitively, even when her tone was flat, demanding her the truth.
Why lie. “No, not anymore.” Her little plan probably wouldn’t have worked out anyways.
The demanding look turned into a Ha Rin signature smile. “Good. You shouldn’t associate with her. You are still a fresh face, but she’s been in F for a long time. You shouldn’t let her reputation taint yours. That’s how you stay in F forever… In fact, I think you should change your seat to stay away from her.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Where?”
“There’s one spot next to Seung Yi. You know her right?” Su Ji nodded. One of the Rank Ds who only had 1 vote.
“Sure.”
She grabbed her bag and approached her to-be-deskmate. “Joo Seung Yi, I am going to sit next to you from now on.”
“Huh? Why? Get lost, F.” The Rank D was talking to her friend, Ji Ae. They both looked at her as if she had lost her mind. And to a certain extent, they were right. She found herself caring less about the things happening around her. She couldn’t focus on the lectures nor enjoy her time when school was over. Three months, that’s all, she just wanted to finish this and leave it all behind and never think about it ever again.
“It’s fine, Seung Yi ah, let her sit there. She looks all lonely sitting by herself all the time.” Her “savior” came to her “rescue”.
There was an awkward quietness.
“Okay, Ha Rin.” Seung Yi lowered her head. It disgusted Su Ji, how these Rank Ds laugh at the misfortune of those under them, but turn into obedient pets once the As show up. She wanted them to suffer too, to see them wiggle like worms. Oh, It would be so beautiful to see them squirm…
After lunch, she stayed in a bathroom stall to give herself some peace and quiet. She drooped her shoulders and shut her eyes. The light yearning in her chest emerged again.
She recalled the day she smoked her first cigarette. The smell of toasted tobacco, a pleasant scent, an addicting scent. When it burned, the smell of smoke, she wasn’t used to it at first, but there was a comfort in them. It made her light headed, her mind wandered, her body lost yet focused at the same time. The way it exited her nostrils, the way it exited her lips, it made her different from her past self, more grown, more evolved, more knowledgeable of the world she lived in.
Let it out… Feel again…
Bang! The door of the stall next to her violently busted open.
“Ahhh!” She heard a high pitched scream in pain.
“Hah hah ah, keep struggling. It’s more fun for us!” It was the familiar laughs of the jackals. Not again. She felt the wet water sheets on her face again, dripping and choking her. Never again.
Is it Ja Eun they are torturing? Should I do something? Two versus three, but one of them knows taekwondo. Do we even have a chance? She steadied her breathing, or tried to at the very least.
Fuck it…
She unlocked the door and pushed it open.
In front of her were the bullies, Da Yeon, Woo Yi, and Seol Ha. Seol Ha was holding down the girl’s legs, making sure she couldn’t move. Da Yeon was holding her neck in front of the toilet, and Woo Yi was cheering in the back. But it wasn’t Ja Eun, Ja Eun’s frame was bigger than the girl here.
It was her new neighbor, Joo Seung Yi.
“Ah, our darling Rank F, just on time! Want to join us?” The bratty girl with brown perms teased.
She wanted to hit her, wanted to beat her, wanted to see her cry. She felt her eyes become watery , the prisoned emotions wanting to be freed. She clenched her fists.
“Oh my, look at her. She’s angry. She wants to fight us. Oh, you poor thing… You still haven’t learned.” Woo Yi taunted.
“Leave her alone.” The head of their little gang spoke.
Woo Yi questioned Da Yeon with her gaze.
“What?”
“We will deal with her another time.” Da Yeon replied. She didn’t look at Su Ji at all, instead focusing on the victim right in front of her.
“Fine… Count yourself lucky, Rank F.”
Before she left, she looked at Seung Yi.
Her hair and face were all wet. Her uniform was disheveled. Her eyes were puffed red and her complexion sickly. A pathetic sight… Did she look like this before? Would Seung Yi have helped her if she was in the same predicament?
No, she was sure of the answer. So why would she help her? Just be glad you are not the one.
She walked away from the bathroom as Seung Yi’s head was dunked into the toilet.
She knew then that she had to get rank C. D was not enough, D was touchable.
She waited at the usual spot after school. Shortly after, her ride was here.
“Get In.” Ha Rin leaned on the side of her door. She had changed her school uniform into a pink  summer dress with shades of cherry blossom with floral sleeves.
“Where are we going?” She asked.
“You will see.” Ha Rin smirked. She hated that smirk. What plan do you have now, Ha Rin?
She settled into the car.
“Did you tell Da Yeon not to bother me?”
Ha Rin didn’t answer, and simply shrugged. She opened her backpack and pulled out a pack of Esse.
“Want one?”
“Sure.”
Click, and the cigarette was lit.
They smoked in silence together. An image she couldn’t have pictured before she transferred or even just a week ago.
Some thirty minutes of the car ride later, they stopped. Su Ji looked outside.
She was shocked at the sight. “Is… is this the airport?”
The girl next to her smiled, smugly in her eyes. “You did say you were free this weekend.”
Oh, no. I am in so much trouble. “Where are we even flying to? I didn’t bring any clothes. I didn’t bring anything. I don’t have my passport. I have to call my dad.” She only told her father that she was going over to a new friend’s house sometime during the weekend, she didn’t know it was the whole weekend.
“Ahh.” She let go of a yelp. Ha Rin was stepping on her foot.
“Su JI ah, relax. You are supposed to be enjoying this. Don’t worry, I have everything sorted out.”
She was just confused now. Is this all a massive prank, are the bullies waiting for her. “Why are you doing all this?”
Ha Rin chuckled lightly. “It’s fun for me, to see you all flustered.” She lifted her shoe.
They boarded a flight to Jeju island an hour later.
Ha Rin led her to their seats. It was in the first class. The space was open and the seat was made with plush leather. She sat down and practically sank down into the cushions.
“First time in first class?”
She nodded.
“If we keep hanging out, it won’t be your last time.” What a spoiled rich brat.
“Is it just us? Your parents are not coming?” Su Ji asked.
“They are busy with their own stuff.” Ha Rin replied.
Su ji laid back on her chair, might as well enjoy all this.
By the time they landed on Jeju, it was already in the evenings.
“I am telling you this again, I didn’t bring any clothes.”
“You don’t have to worry, I brought extra clothes for you. You can use all my other stuff too.”
She didn’t even know what to say back.“Thank you…”
The suite that Ha Rin had booked was grand and expansive, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offered views of the crystal-clear beaches below. The king-sized bed beckoned invitingly, its soft sheets and velvety comforter promising a restful night's sleep. In the bathroom, a massive bathtub gleamed in all its marble-lined glory, while delicate baby angels were carved into the walls surrounding it.
“We are sleeping on the same bed?”
Ha Rin tilted her head. “Do you mind?”
“No.” Why would I?
Once Ha Rin finished settling down her things, she asked. “Want to go to the spa?”
“Spa?”
“Yea, the one in the hotel. It’s quite nice.”
At this point Su Ji just stopped assuming what was going to happen. Just let go of all expectations, and flow with the wind.
A staff from the hotel led them to the spa area on the third floor. It was not the biggest Su Ji has ever been in, but certainly the most atmospheric. The whole place was dimly lit with a soft orange light and the sound of the waves played in the background. The floor and pools were constructed with the same dark marble she saw in the suite. Steam surrounded them more and more as they went in deeper.
Once they arrived at the lockers, Su Ji was faced with another problem, they had to be naked.
Thump.
Thump. Thump
Thump. Thump. Thump.
She could feel her heart beat faster as she unbuttoned her uniform. The moisture in the air made the root of her tongue feel dry, she swallowed.
Ha Rin tapped her shoulder.
“Unzip me?” The girl turned her back to Su Ji.
She cleared her throat lightly. “Sure.”
Her skin was a fragile porcelain, with thin, purple veins hidden beneath. She lightly grazed her shoulder, it was freezing to the touch. Her long, silky hair draped down and a hint of tobacco, intoxicating…
“Thank you.” It broke her trance. She quickly looked away and continued to undress.
They both took a quick shower and crept up to the hot pool. Su Ji did her best to not look at Ha Rin’s body, but the curves of her frame still lingered in the corner of her eye.
They submerged themselves in the pool next to one another. The scent of herbs and flowers snuck into her nose. The hot water scorched her body at first, but she found that it subdued another heat within her. Droplets of  sweat fell from her forehead.  She closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling. The heat took away her stress, her worries, her pain, it locked away her desires, her yearning, her thirst.
They stayed in the pool in a comfortable silence, and then left for the sauna. The air was stuffy when Suji opened the sauna door. The room consisted of two opposing wooden benches and two buckets toward the end, one contained water, and another a bed of heated stone. Su Ji found a comfortable place to sit, the wooden planks of the bench instantly evaporated all the water on her body.
Tssssssst. A harsh sound broke the silence. She looked toward Ha Rin. The girl had poured more water onto the stones. Steam swarmed the entirety of the room, the dimly lit space was now barely visible. An intense heat followed. She opened her mouth to breathe, but swallowed more hot air into her lungs.
“Ah It’s too hot.” She said quickly.
Ha Rin sat down across from her. “Get used to it then.”
Su Ji could still make out the smirk on her face.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Ha Rin delicately lifted her right foot, the pale sole gliding through the air as she slowly closed the gap between them. With a featherlight touch, she placed her toes on Su Ji's knee. A flinch escaped from Su Ji. She looked down at Ha Rin's manicured, cherry-colored nails. Her eyes traveled upwards, gradually taking in the sight of Ha Rin's slender and shapely leg.
The heat mingled with both excitement and trepidation. The steam that swirled around them created a thin veil, but through it all, Su Ji caught a glimpse...
Ha Rin retracted her leg and crossed her ankles
Su Ji shifted uncomfortably, her face flushed and her eyes darting around the room.
"Why are you playing these mind games?" Su Ji asked, her voice trembling slightly. She couldn’t help it.
Ha Rin chuckled, throwing her head back as she relaxed into the sauna's heated bench. "I just like to see you all flustered".
It was all unbearable, the unending heat, from the steam, from the embarrassment, from everything. She practically sprinted out of the sauna. The freezing air hit her body and made her shiver. She wrapped her arms around herself for warmth. Ha Rin followed a few seconds after.
“You want to get a scrub?” Ha Rin asked.
She saw Su Ji’s confusion. “A scrub, to get rid of all the dead skin.”
“By you?” Su ji prayed that Ha Rin couldn’t see her blush. It was the sauna, it was the sauna…
“No, Silly. There’s people here that do it. Follow me” Ha Rin bursted out laughing, it was the first time Su Ji saw her genuinely laugh like this.
I give up. She had embarrassed herself enough.
They went to another room in the spa where Su Ji laid face down, and a middle aged woman dressed in beige pushed a small scrub cloth back and forth on her body. As the woman scrubbed, she could feel dead skin exfoliated from her body. Every part of her felt raw, but it was addicting, to be rid of all the excess, to shed the old and be born anew.
She felt clean now, cleaner than she’s ever been.
After that, they each put on a bathrobe and returned to their room. Su Ji was exhausted, turns out taking a five hour flight and then going to the spa was surprisingly tiring.
She was under the comforter soon enough. She let go of her muscles, this was her haven, her oasis for the night.
“Good night, Ha Rin ah.”
She didn’t wait for a reply.
Su Ji woke up and found the spot next to her empty. It was close to noon already, Ha Rin had already finished her breakfast and was texting on her phone.
For the day’s clothes, Ha Rin lent Su Ji a black t-shirt with a cosmic universe print in the middle, and a white, black n’ red checkered skirt that reached above her knees.
They strolled down a quaint shopping street that ran parallel to the beach.  It wasn’t the nicest of weather, the sun was absent from view but the sky was clear and a shade of light teal. Sea breeze caressed her face from time to time, bringing her the smell of the ocean.
They arrived at the Beach soon after. Su Ji sat under a beach umbrella, with light filtering through at a comfortable intensity.
Su Ji stole glances at the girl next to her. The rich girl, the it girl, the girl with a thousand masks. Who was she underneath? The white knight, the machiavellian queen, or the seductress. Why did she bother to help her in the first place? Why all this?
“Are we friends?” Su ji asked.
Ha Rin’s face was emotionless.“Why do you ask?”
“Just curious.”
She turned to Su ji and lowered her sunglasses, a  “I enjoy my time with you. Is that not good enough?”
“You don’t have any friends, do you? Nor do you want any. You don’t want equals, you want followers, you want to be in control all th…”
“Don’t ruin a good thing, will you?” Ha Rin interrupted her. She sat up and pulled out a small box from her purse. “Vitamin?”
What a bitch. “No, Thank you.” Only three months of this shit anyways, just enjoy what you can.
“I will take a cigarette though.”
They came across a convenience store as they walked back to the hotel.
Ha Rin stopped. “Su Ji, let’s drink some soju tonight. Go over and buy some will you?”
“You are not coming with?” She questioned.
“I will just wait by the corner here.”
“Okay.”
Bling! The electric door bell rang as she entered.
She went straight to the soju section. She grabbed an original, a peach flavored one, and a strawberry one and walked to the register. The clerk was an older auntie in her fifties or sixties, she eyed Su Ji for a few seconds while scanning the bottles.
“Can I see your ID?”
Fuck. “Sorry, I forgot to bring it.”
The woman tapped her fingers on the counter and paused for a few seconds. “I’m afraid I can’t sell you these.”
“But I’m 20.”
“Sorry, store policy.”
She left the store with a tinge of uneasiness, she knew the feeling, she didn’t want to fail. Not because she would disappoint Ha Rin but because she would feel lesser herself. She needed a win.
Just then, a man in his early twenties walked by. She had an idea.
“Oppa, Can you do me a favor?”
The man turned around, somewhat shocked that someone was talking to him.
“Yes?” His voice was hesitant, as if he was unsure if this conversation was really happening.
“I forgot my ID. My friends and I planned to buy some soju tonight. Can you please help me buy some? Please?” She did her best aegyo face and hid the cringe as best as she could.
“Sure… How many do you want?”
“Three bottles, thank you.” She handed him two folded notes of 10,000 won.
Bling! The man walked into the store and a few minutes later, he came out with a plastic bag and handed it to her.
“Thank you, oppa.”
“Ca… Can oppa add your Kakao?” The man asked.
Well…
“No, loser!” The reply was swift, to the point where it even surprised her a little bit. She quickly turned around and ran to the corner.
“Run! Run!” She shouted.
“Wha?” She grabbed Ha Rin’s arms and sprinted. The girl behind her looked surprised and taken aback for the first time. She laughed wholeheartedly at that, it felt good to be the one in control.
They turned left and ran for three blocks and turned right for another two before stopping.
“What was that?” Ha Rin asked as she was catching her breath.
“You told me to get the soju, I got it.” She held the bag up triumphantly.
“Never do that again.” Ha Rin was still steadying her breathing, but her face was cold and stoic. She’s actually pissed.
Su JI smirked in return. “I like to see you all flustered.”

Hello my good fellow, tell me fun facts about all your ocs. 👀
All of my ocs? Well well well well!!!!!
I have to use my lmk ones for this! And maybe I might add my ninjago ocs at the end!
~~~~~~~
First we have -Ping Coa-
He is a very mysterious and cold demon! He used to be sweet and nice. But sadly something tragic happened. In his younger years his lover was killed in a massacre and he’s been furious ever since!
Ping doesn’t typically use his powers(Telekinesis and light control) But if the demon/person he’s fighting is powerful enough. Then he is not afraid to use them.
Ping is around 1000 years old, yet in mortal years he’s around twenty three!
~~~~~~~
-Ao Jinhai/Dushe Jingshen-
I made him before I realized that Ao Guang names his children 1, 2, and 3…
I’m only going to explain his past. Parts about his future is top secret! Unless I’m bored and want to share things.
He is the fourth and youngest son of Ao Guang. Jinhai loved hanging out with his brothers. After all, he was a child. But then, Ao Bing and Nezha fought. His brother had died to the Third Lotus Prince. And Jinhai had hated him ever since.
Years had passed and Ao Guang was getting strict. Especially to Ao Jinhai. Now, after everything that has happened to Jinhai so far made him wonder. He wanted answers. He wanted to fight the Third Lotus Prince. Which is such a terrible idea but he’s grieving.
But Ao Guang makes sure that Ao Jia, Ao Yi, and Ao Jinhai can’t go check out the surface. Which pisses them all off but Ao Guang is spooky so none of them do anything.
That is until Ao Jinhai runs away.
Long story short, he realizes that he definitely can’t take on Nezha. So he hides away from his father and brothers for a bit. Meets some snake friends. When he meets these cool snakes(they’re normal snakes) he realizes he can talk to them. He can even shapeshift into a snake! But sadly that’s all his shapeshifting powers could do.
After a while jttw starts. Bing bang boom he meets them. After accidentally killing everybody in a village. Everybody is pissed off, Ao Lie is there.
It seems I forgot to mention Ao lie, Ao Jinhai’s cousin. BUT WAIT!!! Does that mean… *gasp* Ao Jinhai is actually Mei’s GREAT UNCLE!?!?!?! I think that’s the correct familial term for whatever that is. But they just call each other cousins.
Ao Jinhai changes his name to Dushe Jingshen so when people ever refer to him. Ao Guang and his brothers would never find him!
~~~~~~~
-Shan Ji de-
Where do I even start? So she doesn’t really have much of a story. She’s 21, but 800 in demon years.
She’s a celestial monkey with three noses(a curse really)
And with those three noses she can smell almost anything!
Ji de is based off of a golden-headed lion tamarin!
She basically has all the basic celestial monkey powers. Like shapeshifting, golden eyes of truth. Other things as well…
I honestly don’t really have a story for her! She’s mostly just a chaotic and goofy little goober!
~~~~~~~
-Shi-
I impulsively made her, she has no story or any plots. She’s just here.
~~~~~~~
-Zǔzhó-
Brother to Bái Hé. He also doesn’t really have a story. But I’d love to make one with you!
He has a funky magic mirror that he uses to teleport through!
~~~~~~~
-Kěpà-
Kěpà has a depressing childhood… his father was abusive towards him and his mother. And as a young fox spirit(that’s all he is) he couldn’t do a single thing.
But his father will always leave an impact on his life. After Kěpà becomes an adult, he decides enough is enough. After all, shapeshifters are extraordinary
He would go on to use his talents for horrible things, even if these people were good or bad. He would shapeshift into a woman, flirt with whichever victim seemed to be into it. And then invite that man to his place. He would go onto reveal his true self, kill the person. Chop them up and make soup.
Just don’t interact with this guy if you’re a man.
~~~~~~~
And that’s all I have for lmk ocs! And damn do I need more female characters-
Paradise snippet!!!! Paradise snippet!!!!! Paradise snippet!!!!!!! Pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!
And any skz wips you've got????
Will actually answer the questions properly later lmaoo ,🤪🤪
LMAO Moni, ILY 💕
A little bit of Chapter 15 of Paradise:
The beat picks up again, and your friends surround you and Jungkook. Rosé, Jisoo, and Jin all shimmy together as Lisa introduces Yi-Jeong to the group. Even Jennie and Yoongi join in, and it’s true what Jennie told you yesterday - her man definitely has moves. Everyone’s happy and laughing, and you’re so full of joy you could just burst. Jin suddenly twirls, facing Jungkook with an intense look on his face. The younger man takes a step back in surprise as Jin starts to rock his body back and forth, like he’s about to bust out a breakdance move. Is he seriously about to -  “Ooh, dance battle!” Jisoo cups her hands around her mouth, yelling.
And a little bit of Chapter 2 of The Rules, my Bang Chan fic:
“Ok, groomsmen, if you’ll just take a seat here - Changbin, stay in the center, please,“ the photographer points to a pair of benches, “we’ll have the ladies sit in your laps.” She grins, sticking out her tongue. “Have fun, get a little cheeky!” “You heard her,” Ji-won snickers as she passes by you, “get cheeky!”  She drops onto Jisung’s lap like a bag of bricks, throwing an arm around his neck, and his eyes widen comically. You stifle a giggle as you look for an open lap.  And then sigh. Of course there’s only one lap left.  Chan smirks as you perch yourself as daintily as possible on his legs. You try not to think about the sturdy thighs beneath you, but it’s impossible. It’s like what your old psych professor taught you. Tell someone “don’t think about a pink elephant” and they’ll immediately picture a pink elephant. Well, right now your pink elephant is actually several inches of dense muscle, flexing as you squirm slightly.  “Ok, come on, now, big smiles everyone!”  Chan leans forward, and once again his arm wraps around you, pressing you to his chest. “I had fun too, last night.”  “That’s nice,” you hum, trying not to sink into him.  The shutter clicks a few times. Fuck, were you even smiling? Your focus is definitely slipping, especially when Chan’s nose nuzzles your ear.  “I mean, I would’ve had more fun with you, but… I know how to have a good time when I’m alone.” More clicks. The others are pulling faces, or pretending to kiss for the camera, or in the case of Jisung and Ji-Won, actually making out. Good for them.  But you’re frozen, with Chan’s breath brushing down the side of your neck, as he holds you close.  “I think of you when I’m… you know.”
I hope those suffice? 💕
Jiaolong
Jiaolong is a dragon often defined as a "scaled dragon"; it is hornless according to certain scholars and said to be aquatic or river-dwelling.
A number of scholars point to non-Sinitic southern origins for the legendary creature and ancient texts chronicle that the Yue people once tattooed their bodies to ward against these monsters.
Tumblr media
In English translations, jiao has been variously rendered as "jiao-dragon", "crocodile", "flood dragon", "scaly dragon", or even "kraken".
The jiao 蛟 character combines the "insect radical" 虫, to provide general sense of insects, reptiles or dragons, etc., and the right radical jiao 交 "cross; mix", etc. which supplies the phonetic element "jiao". The original 交 pictograph represented a person with crossed legs.
The Japanese equivalent term is kōryō or kōryū . The Vietnamese equivalent is giao long, considered synonymous to Vietnamese Thuồng luồng.
The Piya dictionary (11th century) claims that its common name was maban.
The jiao is also claimed to be equivalent to Sanskrit 宮毗羅 (modern Chinese pronunciation gongpiluo) in the 7th Century Buddhist dictionary Yiqiejing yinyi. The same Sanskrit equivalent is repeated in the widely used Bencao Gangmu or Compendium of Materia Medica. In Buddhist texts this word occurs as names of divine beings, and the Sanskrit term in question is actually kumbhīra (कुम्भीर). As a common noun kumbhīra means "crocodile".
The explanation that its name comes from eyebrows that "cross over" (交 jiao) is given in the ancient text Shuyi ji "Records of Strange Things" (6th century) (Luo tr. 2003:3508).
It has been suggested that jiaolong might have referred to a pair of dragons mating, with their long bodies coiled around each other.
Thus in the legend around the jiaolong hovering above the mother giving birth to a future emperor i.e., Liu Bang, the founding emperor of Han, r. 202-195 BCE, the alternative conjectural interpretation is that it was a pair of mating dragons.
The same legend occurs in nearly verbatim copy in the Book of Han, except that the dragons are given as "crossed dragons". Wen noted that in early use jiaolong "crossed dragons" was emblematic of the mythological creators Fuxi and Nüwa, who are represented as having a human's upper body and a dragon's tail.
In textual usage, it may be ambiguous whether jiaolong should be parsed as two kinds of dragons or one.
Zhang cites as one example of jiaolong used in the poem Li Sao (in Chu Ci), in which the poet is instructed by supernatural beings to beckon the jialong and bid them build a bridge. Visser translated this as one type of dragon, the jiaolong or kiao-lung. However, it was the verdict of Wang Yi, an early commentator of this poem that these were two kinds, the smaller jiao and the larger long.
Since the Chinese word for the generic dragon is long, translating jiao as "dragon" is problematic as it would make it impossible to distinguish which of the two is being referred to. The term jiao has thus been translated as "flood dragon" or "scaly dragon", with some qualifier to indicate it as a subtype. But on this matter, Schafer has suggested using a name for various dragon-like beings such as "kraken" to stand for jiao:
The word "dragon" has already been appropriated to render the broader term lung. "Kraken" is good since it suggests a powerful oceanic monster. ... We might name the kău a "basilisk" or a "wyvern" or a "cockatrice." Or perhaps we should call it by the name of its close kin, the double-headed crocodile-jawed Indian makara, which, in ninth-century Java at least, took on some of the attributes of the rain-bringing lung of China.
Some translators have in fact adopted "kraken" as the translated term, as Schafer has suggested.
In some contexts, jiao has also been translated as "crocodile".
The Shuowen Jiezi dictionary glosses the jiao as "a type of dragon (long), as does the Piya dictionary, which adds that the jiao are oviparous (hatch from eggs). The Bencao Gangmu states this also, but also notes this is generally true of most scaled creatures.
Jiao eggs are about the size of a jar of 1 or 2 hu capacity in Chinese volume measurement, according to Guo Pu's commentary; a variant text states that the hatchlings are of this size. It was considered that while the adult jiao lies in pools of water, their eggs hatched on dry land, more specifically on mounds of earth (Huainanzi).
The jiao did eventually metamorphose into a form built to fly, according to Ren Fang's Shuyi ji ("Records of Strange Things"), which said that "a water snake after 500 years transforms into a jiao; a jiao after a millennium into a dragon after 500 years a horned dragon, a horned dragon after a millennium into a winged dragon."
The hujiao or "tiger jiao" are described as creatures with a body like a fish and a tail like a snake, which made noise like mandarin ducks. Although this might be considered a subtype of the jiao dragon, a later commentator thought this referred to a type of fish.
The foregoing account occurs in the early Chinese bestiary Shanhaijing "Classic of Mountains and Seas", in its first book "Classic of the Southern Mountains".
The bestiary's fifth book, "Classic of the Central Mountains" records the presence of jiao in the Kuang River (貺水, "River Grant") and Lun River (淪水, "River Ripple"). Guo Pu's commentary to Part XI glosses jiao as "a type of [long] dragon that resembles a four-legged snake. Guo adds that the jiao possesses a "small head and a narrow neck with a white goiter" and that it is oviparous, and "large ones were more than ten arm spans in width and could swallow a person whole".
A description similar to this is found in the Piya dictionary, but instead of a white "goiter (ying)" being found on its neck, a homophone noun of a different meaning is described, rendered "white necklace" around its neck by Visser. Other sources concurs with the latter word meaning white "necklace" (or variously translated as white "tassels"), namely, the Bencao Gangmu quoting at length from Guangzhou Ji by Pei Yuan.
The jiao measures 10 chi or more in length. Snake-like in appearance, but it has four feet. The shape broad and shield-like, it is small-headed and thin-necked. On the neck there are white tassels. Its chest is sienna brown and its back flecked with blue-green spots. Its flanks resemble brocade-work. On its tail there are fleshy rings. The largest attain several arms' spans around.
—adapted from Luo tr. 2003:3508. "Vol. 43: The Category of Animals with Scales", Bencao Gangmu.
A later text described jiao "looks like a snake with a tiger head, is several fathoms long, lives in brooks and rivers, and bellows like a bull; when it sees a human being it traps him with its stinking saliva, then pulls him into the water and sucks his blood from his armpits". This description, in the Moke, was considered the "best definition" of a jiao.
The description as "scaly" or "scaled dragon" is found in some medieval texts, and quoted in several near-modern references and dictionaries.
The Guangya defines jiaolong as "scaly dragon; scaled dragon", using the word lin "scales". The paragraph, which goes on to list other types of dragons, was quoted in the Kangxi Dictionary compiled during the Manchurian Qing dynasty. A similar paragraph occurs in the Shuyi ji and quoted in the Bencao Gangmu aka Compendium of Materia Medica:
Shizhen says: The book Shuyi Ji by Ren Fang:: The jiao is a kind of dragon. As its eyebrows cross each other, it is called jiaolong. (jiao ≅ come across). The jiaolong has scales. The variety with wings is called yinglong. The variety with horns is called qiulong. The variety without horns is called chilong ...
—Luo tr. 2003:3508. "Vol. 43: The Category of Animals with Scales", Bencao Gangmu.
Several texts allude to the jiao being the lord of aquatic beings. The jiaolong is called the "god of the water animals". The Shuowen jieji dictionary states that if the number of fish in a pond reaches 3600, a jiao will come as their leader, and enable them to follow him and fly away". However, "if you place a fish trap in the water, the jiao will leave". A similar statement occurs in the farming almanac Qimin Yaoshu that quotes the Yangyu-jing "Classic on Raising Fish", a manual on pisciculture ascribed to Lord Tao Zhu (Fan Li). According to this Yangyu-jing version, when the fish count reaches 360, the jiao will lead them away, but this could be prevented by keeping bie 鱉 (variant character 鼈, "soft-shelled turtle").
Jiao and jiaolong were names for a legendary river dragon. Jiao is sometimes translated as "flood dragon". The Yuhu qinghua says people in the southern state of Wu called it fahong "swell into a flood" because they believed flooding resulted when jiao hatched. The poem Qijian in the Chu Ci uses the term shuijiao " or water jiao.
The Shuowen Jiezi does not commit to whether the jiao has or lacks a horn. However the definition was emended to "hornless dragon" by Duan Yucai in his 19th century edited version. A somewhat later commentary by Zhu Junsheng  stated the contrary; in his Shuowen tongxun dingsheng Zhu Junsheng explained that only male dragons (long) were horned, and "among dragon offspring, the one-horned are called jiao, the bicorned are called qiu, and the hornless are called chi.
Note the pronunciation similarity between jiao 蛟 and jiao 角 "horn", thus jiaolong 角龍 is "horned dragon".
Lexicographers have noticed that according to some sources, the jiao was a dragoness, that is, a dragon of exclusively female gender.
Jiao as female dragon occurs in the glossing of jiao as "dragon mother" (perhaps "dragoness" or "she-dragon") in the Buddhist dictionary Yiqiejing yinyi, and the gloss is purported to be a direct quote from Ge Hon's Baopuzi. However, extant editions of the Baopuzi does not include this statement. The (11th century CE) Piya dictionary repeats this "female dragon" definition.
As aforementioned, jiao is fully capable of devouring humans, according to Guo Pu's commentary.
It is also written that a green jiao which was a man-eater dwelt in the stream beneath the bridge in Yixing County (present-day city of Yixing, Jiangsu) according to a story in Zu Taizhi's anthology, Zhiguai. The war-general Zhou Chu in his youth, who was native to this area, anecdotally slew this dragon: when Zhou spotted the man-eating beast he leaped down from the bridge and stabbed it several times; the stream was filled with blood and the beast finally washed up somewhere in Lake Tai where it finally died. This anecdote is also recounted in the Shishuo Xinyu and selected in the Tang period primer Mengqiu.
Other early texts also mention the hunt or capture of the jiao. Emperor Wu of Han in Yuanfeng 5 or 106 BCE reportedly shot a jiao in the river. The Shiyiji has a jiao story about Emperor Zhao of Han. While fishing in the Wei River, he
..caught a white kiao, three chang [ten meters] long, which resembled a big snake, but had no scaly armour The Emperor said: 'This is not a lucky omen', and ordered the Ta kwan to make a condiment of it. Its flesh was purple, its bones were blue, and its taste was very savoury and pleasant.
Three classical texts repeat a sentence about capturing water creatures at the end of summer; 伐蛟取鼉登龜取黿 "attack the jiao 蛟, take the to 鼉 "alligator", present the gui 龜 "tortoise", and take the yuan 黿 "soft-shell turtle"."
There is a legend surrounding the Dragon Boat Festival which purports to be the origin behind the offering of zongzi (leaf-wrapped rice cakes) to the drowned nobleman Qu Yuan during its observation. It is said that at the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty, a man from Changsha named Ou Hui had a vision in a dream of Qu Yuan instructing him that the naked rice cakes being offered for him in the river are all being eaten by the dragons (jiaolong), and the cakes need to be wrapped in chinaberry leaves and tied with color strings, which are two things the dragons abhor.
It has been suggested that the jiao is not a creature of Sinitic origin, but something introduced from the Far South or Yue culture, which encompasses the people of the ancient Yue 越 state, as well as the Hundred Yue people.
Eberhard concludes that the jiao, which "occur in the whole of Central and South China", "is a special form of the snake as river god. The snake as river god or god of the ocean is typical for the coastal culture, particularly the sub-group of the Tan peoples (the Tanka people)". Schafer also suggests, "The Chinese lore about these southern krakens seems to have been borrowed from the indigenes of the monsoon coast".
The onomastics surrounding the Long Biên District (now in Hanoi, Vietnam) is that it was so-named from a jialong "flood dragon" seen coiled in the river (Shui jing zhu or the Commentary on the Water).
It is recorded that in southern China, there had been the custom of wearing tattoos to ward against the jiaolong. The people in Kuaiji (old capital of Yue; present-day Shaoxing City) adopted such a custom during the Xia dynasty according to the Book of Wei. The Yue created this "apotropaic device" by incising their flesh and tattooing it with red and green pigments (Treatise on Geography in the Book of Han, 111CE, quoted by Kong Yingda).
The jiao seems to refer to "crocodiles", at least in later literature of the Tang and Song dynasties, and may have referred to "crocodiles" in early literature as well.
Aside from this zoological identification, paleontological identifications have also been attempted.
The term jiao e or "jiao crocodile" (蛟鱷; Tang period pronunciation: kău ngak) occurs in the description of Han Yu's encounter with crocodiles according to Zhang Dus Xuanshi zhi or "Records of the House of Proclamation" written in the late Tang period.
As noted the Compendium of Materia Medica identifies jiao with Sanskrit 宮毗羅, i.e., kumbhīra which denotes a long-snouted crocodylid. The 19th century herpetologist Albert-Auguste Fauvel concurred, stating that jiaolong referred to a crocodile or gavial clade of animals.
The Compendium also differentiates between jiaolong 蛟龍 and tuolong 鼉龍, Fauvel adding that tuolong should be distinguished as "alligator".
Fauvel noted that the jiao resembled the dinosaur genus Iguanodon, adding that fossil teeth were being peddled by Chinese medicine shops at the time.
In the foregoing example of the huijiao in the "Classic of the Southern Mountains" III, the 19th century sinologist treated this a type of dragon, the "tiger kiao", while a modern translator as "tiger-crocodile”. However, there is also an 18-19th century opinion that this might have been a shark. A Qing dynasty period commentator, Hao Yixing suggested that huijiao should be identified as jiaocuo 蛟錯 鮫䱜 ) described in the Bowuzhi, and this jiaocuo in turn is considered to be a type of shark.
As in the above example jiao 蛟 may be substituted for jiao 鮫 "shark" in some contexts.
The jiao 鮫 denotes larger sharks and rays , the character for sharks (and rays) in general being sha 鯊, so-named ostensibly due to their skin being gritty and sand-like Compare the supposed quote from the Baopuzi, where it is stated that the jialong is said to have "pearls in the skin".
Schafer quotes a Song Dynasty description, "The kău (jiao) fish has the aspect of a round fan. Its mouth is square and is in its belly. There is a sting in its tail which is very poisonous and hurtful to men. Its skin can be made into sword grips", which may refer to a sting ray.
• Boon-yi agrees to be Bang-won’s concubine to influence him politically, but falls in love with Queen Min instead
• Yeon-hee character study
• Boon-yi/Cheok Sa-gwang fluff
• Mu-hyul/Bang-won angst
Crash course in romance short ending rant
Tumblr media
I feel dissastified on the ending especially on the main lead part.
This drama started great but turn haywire in ep15 and 16..( the important part of watching a drama ) the finale
Like the writer suddenly change person and turn a good drama into totally different drama.
I would like to point out several point of the scene that was unnecessary and could just add on a wedding scene or babies scene or dating scene with the main lead.
1.the appearance of hae Yi mother ( coz she end up leaving her again) might as well don't make the appearance at all
2.ji dong hui ending..( I wish it could be better than him killing himself) I was expecting him to receive therapy while in jail and teaching people in prison for math😅 I think that would be appropriate punishment or he received judgement for his killings
3.all the supporting couple got happy ending: jae woo and yeong ju is pregnant and married, haeyi and sunjae..( I was rooting for her and gon hui, but writernim decided to pair up with bang su a wtf😭)
I think su a should be with sun jae instead..
4. Main lead still not married n not pregnant after 2 years..I mean I'm fine with no marriage ..but no babies..come on..and we only got short lovey dovey scene at the end
Plus they not living together too..fuck..
Tumblr media
5.the unnecessary scandal ( wasting time) but I get it it would lead to proposal..but still..writernim could do other thing
6.too much teaching..( I fine with 1 scene..we get it he successful) but this is crash course in romance..and not crash course in math.
7.also repeating scene ( of his opening his phone with his face) this is just ok error.
But truly the ending was wrapped up in a shabby way which make me think is this drama aiming for season2..or they change writer..
Again to kdrama writernim please please I begging ..please give the typical wedding and babies scene to the main lead
MAIN COUPLE
I REPEAT
Tumblr media
MAIN COUPLE
Overall..I really love the pairing of chi yeol and haeng son..I wish there were more lovey dovey scene n kiss for them.but the wishes will never come true
Tumblr media
Ratings: 4🧮/5🧮
Bcoz the ending for me suck and not to my liking..I'm sorry..plus I wish for more kiss
Only got 3 kiss from 16 ep..not enough
