More Alijah, because I need to atone for never letting them out of my fanfiction drafts. Based on how I used correlate Alec to Little Red Riding Hood. Since it encapsulates his situation with Yumi well.

I tried to give it a 'crooked' look, but looking at it now it just makes the anatomy weird. And I couldn't figure out a background for the life of me.

Also there was a YHS week, and I missed it?!

♡Alijah♡ Yap Session!

I'm really bored so I thought I just might talk about Alijah

To those who know me, you already seen this coming lol. Now, why you may ask? well, as the self-proclaimed captain of the ship...uh I don't know. It just came to be in a dream. 

Long Post

jk, I think I first considered it way back when I first joined the yhs fandom. I tend to ship characters who I find pretty and since Elijah had a cool design, and Alec was my favorite character...well bam! new ship! But shipping these two came with multiple problems, cause one; I was the lone shipper at the time so if I wanted to see fanfics and fanart of them...I had to do it myself...which was eughhh... especially writing the fics cause I am not a writer! And two, they literally never met each other (technically) AND Elijah has around 3 minutes of screen time.

Bro, at the time, a lot of people were tolerating my shenanigans so I knew a lot of people didn't find interest in them until I started drawing them a lot. The key to getting your rarepair noticed and decently well-liked is posting everyone's favorite and then dragging them by the arm to start showing off your blorbos, cause if you post stuff that everyone likes--they'll follow you. When they do, they'll probably tolerate the ship since they're usually just there to see the stuff they like. (like a package deal!)

but besides all that, I think Alijah is pretty neat. there's not a lot about Elijah's character so I had to improvise and my version of his character is the guy who struggles to connect with people because of the lack of childhood he had. I think that it'd be very hard making friends if you grew up committing crimes so Elijah was a loner. (and since it's canon that he and Celeste were homeschooled, they're definitely loners. Not Celeste tho, she's an ambivert and functions better in social environments even if she's also quiet while Elijah just seems introverted.) 

So adding to his character, because of the life he grew up in, He's attached to his sister. He doesn't have that many aspirations in life so he just does what Celeste is doing and usually listens to her when she needs help. I picture him to be like a stray dog--trained, obedient but has no real place where he belongs so he just follows those who he likes. 

I think this is how Elijah and Alec get together in the first place but that was in my winter au, which I won't talk about since most of it is being used for my oc webtoon. However, in the remake version, Alec doesn't feel worthy enough to be with his friends and pursue his feelings for Funneh, so he forces himself to work more since in Alec's mind, he couldn't save himself so he might as well stop trying to have nice things. He ends up on a self-destructive path and now that he's spending more time at work, he gets to know more about Elijah. Their relationship is just co-workers at first, barely talking and there to get the job done, but since Alec is shown to be pretty talkative around his friends--I think he'd try to at least strike up a conversation out of awkwardness.

Eventually, Elijah would start talking too making their relationship less tense and more friendly. If they ever hang out it'll probably be because of a coincidence, like "Oh, hey! You're at this place too :O!" 

if one of them fell in love first, it'd be Elijah since I think it wouldn't be that hard to impress him since he's a loner. with the stray dog stuff, he gets more attached to Alec to the point he'd focus on him more than his sister and when it came to work, his motivations pointed to making sure Alec wasn't killed by Yumi (who at this point in this au was considering it since Celeste was trying to talk her into it--i'll explain this more when I ramble about celesdere.)

Alijah's Dynamic + overall story:

Speaking of their relationship, their overall dynamic wouldn't be healthy. Elijah's the attachment type and Alec's the avoidment type. (match made in heaven! *sarcastic*) Since Elijah didn't have the best childhood, his perception of love is warped. He believes that to love is to give them you're everything and to worship. He learned that from his sister since their parents were always fighting (like oh, they're not in love because they didn't put in the effort in the other person like Celeste was putting in her love for Yumi)

His love for Alec is more obsessive and he becomes more insecure. His goal is to keep Alec by his side since Alec is one of the few people who doesn't mistreat him (since Elijah did have relationships before but they were mostly abusive) With his insecurities, he becomes like Yumi in how he gets easily jealous. He doesn't want Alec hanging out with Funneh, let alone being with his old friends who were enemies of their little crime organizations and it gets to the point he'll imply he'll harm her (but he doesn't since Elijah knew that Alec wouldn't love him anymore so all he really does is cling and tries to get Alec to stay without harming those Alec cares about.)

Now, for Alec! SInce he was pushing himself away from his friends, he stayed with Elijah not because he liked him, but because he was there. he doesn't fully love him the way he loves Funneh. She was perfect in his eyes, He idealized her but when it comes to his coworker, he was a constant reminder of the mess he got himself into and Alec eventually regrets isolating himself since he realized that it's never too late to fix his mistakes and make it up to the people he hurt.

Alec saw Elijah as a convenience since Alec used him to feel better about himself. He needed assurances that he was doing the right thing, that the world didn't have a place for someone like him and it was better to drown with someone else than alone. Elijah was more like someone to comfort him, but since Alec was getting better mentally he didn't really need Elijah so if he tried to break things off Alec would find himself unable to because Elijah's possessive nature would reveal itself. Alec wanted to move on and live better but his boyfriend doesn't let him. 

His feelings for Elijah become complicated. He loved Elijah because Alec found comfort in not having to pretend to be someone he wasn't like he was with his friends and he loved that Elijah stayed knowing they were criminals but he later formed resentment when Alec didn't need him anymore.

While they were dating, as Alec got better he was making plans to betray Yumi and them. He wanted to turn himself in and wanted to take Yumi and the crew with him. However, with Elijah dating him, he hesitates since he still loves him (even if his feelings were shallow at first) Alec knew that if he betrayed them, he would be their or Elijah's target. (think of my Now or Never fic) 

since this is getting jumbled I'll try to figure out where I'm heading with this ramble lol

With Elijah's possessiveness and worship of Alec (giving everything to him like Celeste did with Yumi) he begins to see that something is off with Alec and after a little digging, he finds Alec's betrayal both to their work and relationship-wise because at this point with Alec wanting to get back to his old relationships, his decision to become friends with them again, becoming friends with Funneh again, this was betrayal to Elijah. to him, Alec left their life together to join someone else's. Elijah doesn't take it well because, to Elijah, he was the stray dog who was yet again abandoned. 

either Alec or Elijah would attempt to kill the other if Alec is confronted with his betrayal of Yumi or if Elijah is ordered to try and kill Alec by his sister or Yumi. 

Even if Alec was using Elijah, he still loved him. though his feelings were overridden by his resentment, he loved him. To him, it was shallow but near the end of their relationship, it became more hard to ignore especially when he reconnected with his friends. Think A Pearl by Mistski, he loved him but it wasn't a healthy type of love. it was more like infatuation with familiarity since Elijah was the one who saw the true him. no facade like he wore when he was with his friends.

depending on how evil I feel like being, Elijah will die and his death will become the pearl Alec would have afterward.

uh, I think that's the end of my ramble for Alijah lol, though just in case it needs to be said, I don't condone abusive/toxic relationships! I already got enough of them irl so I do not desire one irl! 

I find the appeal in toxic relationships when it's creating complexities in characters and how It affect their motivations and desires. I care more about their upbringing and escape of them instead of just liking them because of romanticization (which I hope is clear that I'm not doing or desire to do)

with all that out of the way, this is my interpretation of them! :D and only interpretation I believe since I don't think I saw another ramble or hc post about them.1

oh yeah, regarding my fics, they're usually stand-alones so Now or Never isn't canon in this ramble (since this ramble is the main foundation for the stuff I make) so some aus and fics are loosely based on this.

So very random ass upload but I was recently rewatching itsfunnehs old yhs series (cause nostalgia and whatnot) and I suddenly see a very familiar character 🤨🤨

idk i feel like vamp!funneh would be SUPER invested in human culture and their world. like what they eat, wear, how they grow and behave, how their emotions and lifespan differ from theirs and etc. she’d have this whole room dedicated to human treasures and trinkets she’s collected over the years, and they’re her prized possessions. she likes to show them off to her friends, but they don’t really understand why she would waste her time being invested in the people who chase them away. but then vamp!alec, even though not really sharing the same interest like her, would often retrieve gifts and items he collected from the human society that he enchanted (at a price) to give to her because he just likes to see her happy. not only that, but they have a very VERY strong relationship and married because i felt like it would’ve been fitting for an au like this.

to get the enchanted human trinkets, alec would visit the witch (aka yumi) with a regular human item and in exchange for it to be enchanted. he would give her a generous amount of his blood, which she could use it for other potions, enchantments, and charms. because of that, he has to drink human blood to replenish that kind of energy he lost (which will really upset funneh when she finds out)

i love how the recent chapters talk about their life back in Canada. They’re new in a country and I know, first chapter they state not big of a difference literally, but they also mention they’re alone, only having each other in a different country. crying emoji.

like you said on your message for chapter five, i really do wanna say, you really do execute and flesh out the characters’ personality really well and make them like actual teenagers. one that are put in really bad situations!

‘they may act in conflicting ways that readers may side with one over the other.’ i’m a little scared as to what happen between these two beautiful sisters. i have an thought. funneh says it’s okay that alec is working for yumi because he has loan sharks at his door. but it’s my little thought.

that sentence reminds me of the ‘do you think we’ll be sisters in every universe’. SIGH. it’s so cute.

i think if i showed this to anyone who doesn’t know anything about YHS or krew, they’ll understand that the two are sisters! not some pair of best friends, SISTERS!

hey it's z anon!!! i've been away from my computer for the past couple of days so i couldn't reply right away BUT !!! v belated congrats on ur last day for didactic classes & exams!! i hope everything goes smoothly w the year of clinical practice and studying for boards!! i also got my grades back for the semester and did WAYYY better than i thought.. my semester gpa was 3.9 smthn which makes my cumulative 3.64 :D okie backkk to drama talk,, omg is there a reason you didn't watch s1 of yumi's cells?? i feel like it's kim goeun's best work..even above goblin 😅but yess please watch it for jinyoung.. his character is sooo sweet and i alr know a spoiler for how the webcomics played out so i'm looking forward to how the s2 will work! my other most anticipated is link!! like link, why her, and yumi's cells?!!? ahhh so exciting.. also have you been watching from now on showtime? i don't see many talking abt it and it's very underrated imo. clear communication btwn characters w great acting >>> and comedic plot while also being able to be serious ??? it's so good.. really. confession: i still didn't finish to my star 1... my friend lovesss it though so i should give it a second try... also THIS WEEK'S EPISODE OF PLUS AND MINUS.. I didn't watch s1 because I wasn't really into either of the actors (but ahn bo hyun and me don't vibe for whatever reason idk). I watched through all the gifs tho! so I know what went down and I've heard of the spoilers from the webtoon too. ohhh link! I want to watch that too, jingoo and gayoung look good together, I hope it delivers. As you could probably tell from the onslaught of gifs I made, episode six of KP really was something else!!! we finally got communication and it was delicious. I literally had no idea alchemy of souls existed until I saw luni's pretty caps of it on my dash. my music taste is random obscure indie-pop/k-pop/k-indie and then a little bit of this and that that spotify recommends me lmfao. I wanted to help @/vinhteer fill the yhs tag so here's my head canon on why Yumi and Alec work together+ kyran

(I wrote this on discord but I'm too lazy to dig for it so I'll try my best to remember it-- long post ahead!!) I apologize for any spelling mistakes.

Yumi and Alec were childhood friends like Kyran was but they hadn't met until Alec moved to her school in elementary (after Alec met kyran) so they became friends because no one didn't hang out with them and the teacher kept pairing them up.

Kyran still visited Alec even after he moved and that's how he met Yumi because she also came to visit them at their home and they always did this to the point they were like siblings in a way since they were always together. Alec and kyran didn't necessarily like yumi but they tolerated her since she never started trouble.

Yumi's mom got thrown in jail and her dad didn't really want anything to do with her so he focused more on work leaving Yumi to her own endeavors so she played with Alec and kyran +ally occasionally. She saw them as family.

Cue a jealous tantrum with a girl that was in love with senpai. It was a girl who bullied Yumi and knew she had a crush on Kai. Yumi accidentally killed someone for the first time and being a kid, called Alec/kyran because she had no one else.

Alec and kyran didn't know what to do since Yumi didn't want the cops called. She didn't want to be thown in jail because she would be away from Kai and them. So they bury the body.

Unfortunately there was a camera but the quality wasn't good enough to find all of their identities besides Yumi. She was a suspect and not wanting to be thrown in jail she begged her father to not let her be taken away (she probably would've been in juvie of some kind because 1, she's a kid and 2 it wasn't planned) and her father agreed since he didn't want her record to be tainted and pulled some strings to bury the case. He changed Yumi's name to Yandere (unfortunate luck lol) and they moved where she had to attend a different school.

Yumi was still able to go visit Alec and Kyran but kyran was feeling incredibly guilty about it which caused some cracks to form in their relationships to the point kyran and Alec had a huge fight where kyran wanted to confess but Alec and Yumi (who had fragile home environments) didn't want to risk anything. Yumi threatened Kyran not to tell and kyran was forced to listen but he didn't want to hang out with them anymore so he left their friend group. (This all takes place late elementary+early middle school)

Yumi and Alec still hang out because Yumi was lonely since her father still buried himself in work then later left her alone to work overseas for a year. Alec tolerated her at best but they started to fight themselves when Alec started to note how jealous she became over her crush on Kai.

When Yumi killed the second girl, this one was planned and since this was planned she was better at not getting caught but she was still a novice so when she became a suspect, she used her dad's money to pay off the cops. Alec finds out because he read her diary. Caused a huge fight between them. Yumi threatens Alec to ruin his life if he does anything so Alec is forced to turn a blind eye.

Alec severs their relationship as a result leaving Yumi by herself. (during this whole time, Alec worked a lot of jobs as a middle schooler and Yumi would occasionally help out by giving him money. He didn't ask for it but Yumi saw his family as her own so she insisted)

When their relationship was severed it was a lot harder for Alec to get money since his mom was not well after his dad left them. His mom thought it was hard to take care of two kids by herself and since she was going through something before the divorce, she kind of shut down and left Alec to take care of them.

Alec got a notice from cps, and also got a notice from the landlord that rent went up in their apartment. Yumi found out all of this because she overheard a few mother's gossip about Alec's mom. Saying that she's failing her kids by letting Alec take care of them and they gossiped about the rumor that things are not looking well. When she looked into this she found out he got a lot better with hacking and picking locks.

She offered a job for him because she knew she could use this skill and didn't want to give her money out for free like she used to. Alec reluctantly accepts and since then they worked with each other enough that with the help of Yumi and his thousands of jobs, he was able to convince his mom to get a new apartment.

Cue the first year of highschool where the series begins. Alec transferred to Yumi's school since he moved and surprisingly, kyran transferred there as well. Things are awkward between them but kyran just ignores them. Kyran begins to suspect something about Alec and Yumi because why are you sneaking around the school after hours? He thinks they were killing people again and with the death of that Panda girl, he knew something was up so he started doing his own private investigations.

Other stuff!!

Yumi saw Alec as her brother still and even though Alec didn't feel the same way, Yumi still looked out for him even though he started to disobey her by risking letting their secret out. She didn't want to hurt him too much so all she did was threaten and it worked. When Celeste rolls around, she doesn't like Alec because she knew he was incompetent. He didn't take this seriously as he should and Yumi was letting this slide. Annoyed, she started talking to Yumi about Alec and she was starting to listen. Maybe she's letting Alec ignore her phone calls too much. If she doesn't do anything they're going to get caught and she'll be torn away from Kai.

Yumi is really considering getting rid of him but Elijah who isn't under Yumi's full influence and isn't loyal to her, threatens her in order to protect Alec. This causes a rift between him and Celeste, and this causes a huge fight between all of them. They somehow manage to come to an agreement without losing a limb and Alec's life is spared. Alec doesn't want to risk stuff like that happening again so he tries to work better. He realizes that he's becoming replaceable.

Some YHS head canons about Yumi's gang!

Are Celeste and Elijah twins? are they even related? I dunno but they have similar hair colors so that's proof in my eyes lmao

Celeste is the older one and was the one mostly in charge of watching over Elijah when their parents left them in the care of their delulu grandma

The reason they even got into the crime business is because they needed money and they got that by cleaning up after people. (Killings) Celeste stopped cleaning up and instead got more jobs on being the get-away driver/helping people rob things

Elijah is trans/mlm and Celeste is lesbian 🏳️‍🌈

Celeste had an encounter with Yumi before and thought Yumi was cool (and hot)

Elijah started working with Yumi because he doesn't really know what to do in life so he follows his sister around to make sure shes safe (+he has separation issues) he was originally going to leave after throwing the casket in the river but stayed because he thought Alec was cool (and hot)

Yumi and Alec knew each other as kids (I'll make a separate post someday) and Yumi doesn't have a lot of friends that she knew since the beginning and since she also has separation issues she doesn't want Alec to leave her (she sees him as a brother but not at the same time because she hates his entire exitance)

Her dad got a job overseas which pays really well and he likes it better over there and doesn't really know what to do with Yumi after her mom got thrown in prison so he just sends money home and hopes she doesn't cause problems.

I also hc Alec as native :) and he's bisexual (or as I want to put it, two-spirited)

Celeste and Alec hate each other's entire existence. (Why? Idk seems funny lol)

Elijah's and Alec's relationship is sorta-complicated? Alec hates Elijah because Elijah is too desensitized to killing people like Yumi so it pisses him off but he also likes him because he's cute + he's one of the only people that knows the secrets he's trying to hide from his friends and doesn't hate his guts like all his co-workers -- Elijah likes him but knows they won't go anywhere since he already knows he's in love with someone else.

He also won a bet with Alec so Elijah is allowed to hug him whenever he wants 😀👍

Yumi is bisexual and doesn't notice she has a crush on Celeste because she gaslit herself into thinking that she just "cared" about her

Celeste has sleepovers at Yumi's house to help her with making plans/stalking etc

Elijah and Celeste have a lot of fights -- complicated sibling relationship where one wants to live their own life but the other doesn't want to be alone (due to ✨ trauma✨) so they fight a lot because Elijah is worried about Celeste and Celeste is annoyed because she can look after herself and would rather do her own thing without her little brother bothering her.

Because of those fights Celeste sleeps over at Yumi's and Elijah gets Alec to stay over at his house until they make up.

Family:

Both of their parents were shitty and worked with criminals before they were born and passed on their work to them because there was no other way to survive since the twins parents got themselves into debt. (And what other payment is there than to guarantee two more employees that can't quit on you)

Their mom has a sister who's better off than them. Rich CEO, who built everything she has, and has a family that's better than her sisters. The twins aunt doesn't want anything to do with them or her sister since family drama, but since the mom and the husband died + their grandma unable to take care of herself-- she has to be their guardian. (She doesn't though, she just sends them a monthly check and tells the twins to forge her signature for important stuff like school trips)

The dad has family but they're never mentioned so the twins assume they're dead.

Celeste:

Is the leader since she was born first. What she says goes and since it's been only her and Elijah, they put their bond first before anything else.

Despite being born first by a minute, she acts like she was born five years earlier.

Stressed out of her mind, and competitive.

Top of her class in gym, and in mathematics but didn't stay long in school so she can focus on taking care of her grandma and working for criminals

When working with criminals, she was mostly needed for causing a distraction. (Lost teenager, angry person looking for a fight while someone steals something in the back) but on some occasions, she is used to kill people since she's expendable because if she's caught, it's not really a setback to her boss.

Became a diy nurse since Elijah always got himself in pretty bad fights but she would rather learn how to be a game developer. (The games she's playing is not competitive enough for her)

She likes bikes and cars so she has a part time job as a mechanic.

Joined Yumi because she needed to be in a place that was new to her. Yumi was different than all the other people she worked with so she was curious then she started to cling onto that difference because she wanted something different that was going on in her life. No matter if it was good or bad.

Celeste won't admit it but she felt like taking care of their grandma and watching over Elijah +work was such a burden and she was close to being like their mom's sister and ditching their family. She was planning to leave everything before she met yumi

copes better with their sucky life than Elijah

She tolerates Elijah's hugs but would rather have him clean her bike if he really cared about her 😒 and she likes words of affirmation more. She would tell her loved ones she cares about them. (Even to Yumi sometimes)

Elijah:

Emotional. Not great with emotions. He can't regulate them, and being raised in an improper environment set that back more. He picks a lot of fights and hates a lot of people because of them. He's mostly like that because of their parents, their boss, and their life.

Aside from that emotional baggage, he's kinda fucked up. Growing up around people who killed for whatever reason molded his perspective on human beings so he just sees them as nothing. he doesn't feel remorse when he kills them. He doesn't believe good people exist and when they do, Elijah hates their existence.

He reads lots of books because characters are better than the shitty people he has to deal with. He likes reading romance books and is a hopeless romantic despite hating people. When his sister tells him she loves him, he replies with "as you should". When he's face with actual romantic love from strangers or friends, suddenly all the books He read on romance are non existent . who is love? Don't know her.

Celeste is the one that plans their schemes and he acts out whatever is asked of him.

Doesn't know what he wants to do with his life so he figures he might end up like their parents. He has no hope for his life and believes his sister is the same

Elijah is both "nothing matters :(" and "nothing matters 😎" simultaneously

He can't comfort people for shit so when Celeste is feeling blue longer than usual, he's willing to do anything to make her not do that and if her asking him to work with a serial killer cause it's making her happy then so be it.

He has average grades in school, but he excelled in math. Dropped out to take care of their grandma+ work. He says he dropped out but he was kicked out because he kept getting into fights

He's violent when fighting but when he's not, Elijah is touched starved and likes bothering his sister or his grandma. He's either smothering them with hugs or poking them to annoy them.

Both Celeste and Elijah have warped ideas of romantic love but platonic love is something they both understand well

Might make a separate post about them and their relationships with the main characters and another post on their grandma.
