Yugioh Polyship Week 2021
Tumblr media
Yugioh Polyship Week is a week to celebrate Yugioh ships that involve more than 2 characters. From September 12th to 18th please contribute your contributions to the event and tagg “#Yugioh Polyship Week” or this blog. As Yugioh has grown so much we are going to be a little more flexible with the themes this year.
Sunday = Introductions! Tell us how you got into Yugioh. Tell us which non-monogamous ships first caught your attention and just which ones are your favorites. And just anything else interesting about yourself to build the community.
Monday = Anime Rainbow! Duel Monsters, GX, 5Ds, Zexal, Arc-V, Vrains, and now Sevens! Pick your favorite anime or run through them all and tell/show us your favorite non-monogamous ships from each!
Tuesday = Yugioh Beyond! Do you have think a series of characters from the card game have an interesting dynamic together? Does your favorite character only exist in the manga and not in the anime? Is the Red Hat Vagabond or some other Video Game original character your self-insert character into a couple? This day is dedicated to all the Yugioh content outside the anime so get wild and crazy with it!
Wednesday = Alternate Universes and Crossovers! Is your favorite Polycule going to enter a Pokemon tournament, start a Super Sentai team, or build a Gundam together? Is there a character from a different franchise that would be a perfect fit for certain Yugioh characters? Show us that love has no bounds!
Thursday = Triad Thursday! The media’s favorite non-monogamous representation! Show us your favorite ships that involve exactly 3 people! Open or closed! Destroy love triangles!
Friday = Geometry Madness! Show us your favorite ships that involve more than 3 characters! Be it quads, solo polyamory, or just harems. If really ambitious draw a polycule map such as this example from Kimchi Cuddle
Saturday = Free Day! Are catching up from a day you missed? Do you want to repeat a day? Or just do something totally different and make up your own prompt!
Alternate prompts!
@jujyfru1t sent in some great prompts! I’m just going to use them all here! Feel free to replace any day with art (of any kind) inspired by these prompts! If anyone else sends more prompts before September 11th, I will add them to the list!

Fic: The Sun, The Moon, The Stars
Series: YuGiOh! Zexal Relationships: VKaiMiza Characters: Mizael, Chris Arclight, Kaito Tenjo, Alit Additional notes: I was gonna do a ton for @ygotplusweek, but I got busy between class and work and this was all I could do. Anyways, the world needs more VKaiMiza and especially VMiza.
A lot of things puzzled Mizael about the human world, but few did as much as Christopher Arclight. He was an enigma; Mizael could usually read people easily, but he never truly knew where Chris stood when they conversed. While frustrating at first, it quickly turned to fascination. A challenge.
Mizael had plenty of challenges in his wake as it was - being transported to a completely new society, stuck in a school with a peer group millennia younger than you does that - but Chris was different. The more time Mizael spent around twelve year olds, the more tempting dropping out and living in the woods got. The more time he spent with Chris, his vague answers, and the way he never seemed to express his genuine emotions, the more he wanted to spend with him. Before he knew it, Mizael had made it his mission to crack that thick shell Chris was hiding himself deep below.
The visits to Heartland Tower started within a week of being revived - After the Moon Duel, the thought of never seeing Kaito again was unbearable. And, indeed, the two connected on many more levels than initially suspected. There was safety in Kaito. Understanding. A bond connected to creation of everything and beyond; the intimacy was hard for them to deny.
Which only made Kaito’s mentor and research partner all that more puzzling.

@ygotplusweek day six!  Friday is the fun day!
*clears throat and taps on microphone* yes hello I am a D&D nerd so here is my little encourageshipping fantasy AU with dragons n wizards n shit
The murmur of voices and the halfhearted lull of a lute greeted Atem as he opened the door to the roadside inn. A few patrons looked his way but most were too engrossed in their drinks or card games to pay the new comer much mind. Keeping his stride strong, Atem made his way to the bar and settled down on one of the roughly crafted stools. The barkeep was quick to notice him and approached, though he did not miss the way the man’s eyes flickered to his sword, then to the crest adorning the shoulder of his cloak.
He recognized the firm, expectant posture in anyone by now, human, elf, dwarf or otherwise. This could mean trouble for Atem, but he prayed not as the barkeep came to a stop in front of him.
“You should know I have wards set up to keep you from changing inside my establishment, sir.”
The title was said with too much of a hiss to be a sign of respect, but the greeting was almost better than Atem hoped for, so he let it slide. Instead he simply quirked an eyebrow “Are you truly expecting me to change form and destroy your livelihood for no reason?”
“Just letting you know ‘tis all. I won’t be turning you away if you want drink or a bed. But I won’t tolerate troublemakers of any kind here, not even dragons.”
Honestly, why so many assumed his kind were havoc wreaking brutes would always elude him. But again, he let the passive insult slide. “I assure you I am not here to make problems for anyone. All I am looking for tonight is a meal and, perhaps, some information.”
It was the innkeepers turn to raise an eyebrow “Information on?”
“There is a man who lives far off the outskirts of your village, by the name of Bakura. I’ve heard he’s made quite a lot a trouble for your people, just as he has for me. Tell me about his hideaway, and I’ll put a stop to his tyranny.”
The man’s posture stiffened even more and he placed his hands on the bar, leaning in towards Atem “Listen, as much as I’d like that little shit gone, you going out there to put a stop to him won’t end well. He’s more powerful than you think, and I wont have an all out battle between you two back lashing on this town. Now, again, if you want a meal or a bed, I can help you. Otherwise, out you go.”
Atem let out a sigh, already contemplating who he could go to next as he said “Just a meal then, if you please.”
He nodded firmly and walked away, leaving Atem to his thoughts. He could try some of the more elderly in the town, ones who likely saw the thief king’s rise and might have something of value to tell. He might also simply asking around in general. He did not like the idea of standing among a crowd and making a speech for a call to arms, so many eye on him was never a pleasant experience...but if it got him-
“Um, excuse me?”
Atem found himself blinking stupidly before he realized the slightly hesitant voice was addressing him. He turned, his eyes landing on a young man standing between his neighboring bar stools. The young elf’s hair was wild and died three different colors, his eyes large and innocent looking, the color of amethyst stones in the afternoon sun. He was quite handsome, and looking at Atem expectantly.
“Yes, can help you?”
The elf’s mouth lifted into a smile “Actually, I think we can help you, I overheard you talking about taking down Bakura. I don’t think it’ll come as a surprise that some of us are more than tired of him causing terror around here. I talked it over with my friend and we both want to help you.”
When the young man indicated across the room Atem looked over his shoulder to see a human woman sitting at a corner booth. Curtains of short brown hair framed her lovely face and she watched the two of them interact with lively blue eyes.
“I’ll have Ushio bring your food to our table. If you’re interested in what we have to say, anyway.”
Atem looked back and gave a slight bow of his head “It would be an honor to receive any help you may have for me, thank you.”
It only took them a short stride to reach the booth and the young elf settled in beside the human girl, leaving Atem to sit across from them.
“I’m Yugi, by the way, and this is Anzu.”
“Atem, a pleasure to meet you. So, you two have information on the thief king?”
The two friends exchanged looks for a moment before the one named Anzu answered “We know a thing or two about him, yes, but mostly, we want to offer you help in taking him down.”
Atem was surprised at that, and it must have shown on his typically stoic face because Yugi was quick to add “I know you probably think we’re kids in over our heads or something, but I promise we can be helpful.”
“Not only do we know the hills his fort is settled on like the backs of our hands, but we can help in the fight too” Anzu assured.
Atem waited a beat before replying “Are either of you trained in combat?”
Yugi grinned and held out his hand. With a snap of his fingers a flame burst to life in his palm “My grandpa’s taught me quite a bit about magic.”
“And I’m quite the archer, if I do say so myself. I can assure we get close and long range hits on him” Anzu’s smile wasn’t smug, just a nice shade of confident.
Again Atem waited before answering, only this time much longer. He wasn’t sure what to expect when entering Bakura’s lair and facing him. What if he had to pull out all stops and transform? That would only put these two in risk of getting caught in the crossfire, the last thing on earth he wanted was for his quest of justice to end with the blood of the innocent being spilled.
Still, the thought was...nice. He had been on the road by himself for so long after all. A pleasant flutter filled his stomach at the idea of having comrades again, to fight by someones side and... and simply not be alone anymore.
Sensing the doubt still within him, it was Anzu’s turn to try and alleviate his worry. “Please, Atem. I know you just met us, but Yugi and I are willing to risk everything to put a stop to all of this. We just want to protect our friends and family. We aren’t looking for glory and foolhardy adventure, we just want to make this town safe again.”
Well, how could he say no to that?
“...Alright. But, I feel I should tell both of you now, I am not a simple traveling paladin, I am also a dragon.”
Yugi shrugged “Yeah I sensed that when you walked in. You have a lot of natural magical energy surrounding you.”
“Your race doesn’t bother us at all, Atem” Anzu assured with a sweet smile.
The chaos of feelings inside him rose at their easy acceptance. By the gods, why did he feel such an automatic connection with these two? “I just wanted you to know, because it might also effect our fight. If I somehow become gravely injured during the battle, I will change into my dragon form automatically. If that happens, promise you will get out of dodge, as I can not promise to be in full control of my actions in that case.”
The two exchanged looks again, he saw no real fear in their eyes, just mature, serious consideration. Finally they nodded and turned back to him, having not said an actual word in their exchange. Just how long had these two known each other?
“We promise to be smart and get out of your way if you have to change forms, we aren’t stupid after all” Yugi’s reply was a mixture of firm assurance and light teasing.
Still it was enough for Atem.
“Alright then, lets get started.”

I hope a multichapter fic is okay? Because I got this kind of silly idea and wanted to write it and I’m not sure how many chapters it would take. I hope I got the guidelines right!

He sighs, leaning back against her back.
“How long have they been going at it?” he asks.
She checks her watch.  “Fifteen minutes now.”
“What is the argument this time?”
“Where we should go out to eat.”
“Right.”
“And I’m telling YOU that that goddamn fancy ass french restaurant fucking sucks!” Kiryu shouts.  “They give you like, three bites!”
“It’s gourmet!  You need to appreciate the flavor!” Sherry snaps back.
“We could make a compromise and go to the French restaurant near the harbor, they serve more food per person--” Misty tries to interject.
“I can’t appreciate it if it doesn’t fill me up, you hag!  We’re going for Thai and that’s final!”
Aki sighs.  “Think we should just sneak off on our own and let them catch up?”
“Maybe.  Let’s give them five more minutes.”

I’m late posting my entries for @ygotplusweek because life happened and I only managed to finish the first two stories by the time limit, I haven’t even posted the second one yet, but I still wanted to let the amazing ygotplusweek admins know that I tried to participate. The stories will eventually all be collected in THIS series on my AO3.

ASGDDHJGFFHJUHFG I keep telling myself that after the last prompt I arted for Rare Pair Week to put in the tag 'NEVER AF*CKING GAIN' That prompt took me the most of June to finish and if Rare pair had been announced two weeks prior to the event I wouldn't have made it in time.
It's not a crack ship though and you'll understand why it took me about 2 weeks of June to complete the whole thing.

AN: this is my guilty pleasure ot3, I just want to have my two cakes and eat them too!!
The current situation was rapidly beginning to unfold into scenarios that Ryoken had never wanted to entertain. He would not call it the worst case scenarios - unfortunately, things like armageddon had a rightful place in thoughts and calculations like those - but he was not going to be quick to call it ideal. He still had a few fingers that he could cross but already, his heart was beginning to break just from witnessing this scenario unfold in the flesh, blood, and some pixels too.
Ideally, there would be zero Ignis but he knew Fujiki Yusaku, Playmaker, as one thing and one thing only: incredibly determined. Once his will was committed to something, it all but brought miracles forth so Ryoken accepted that a new era would likely unfold. Perhaps from the mistakes of the previous one, this second coming would be more hopeful. He had his own, after all.
He wanted to commit to his redemption. His atonement. To himself and his own nature, not as a destroyer but a protector. He had wanted to protect the children of the Hanoi Project and now, he wanted to protect what little serenity and closure they had found, finally, ten years later.
This, however, would test him, Ryoken knew, not instinctively but for more humanly reasons than that as well.
Thanks to Playmaker and his own Ignis’s determination, they had managed to revive the five remaining Ignis. Some of those matches were easier to make than others. Returning Flame to Takeru would be safe and teary-eyed; returning Aqua to Miyu and Aoi would be joyful and misty-eyed; but then there were the others. Ryoken did not have stable predictions for what would happen were Lightning and Windy were to return to their respective Origins but, for better or worse, he did have eyes. He did not need to predict what would happen were Earth returned to Spectre for he could just watch such a thing happen.
In fact, it was happening right now and it was already piercing Ryoken’s armour and cracking his heart.
Ryoken had always known it would one day come to this. Or that it should have come to this, possibly even sooner than ten years. He had run the simulations as a child, to discover what was the link that kept breaking, and in them, he did discover that Earth was not the cause for what would eventually break. He never was. If anything, he fixed things. Drastically so, if only for one person: Spectre. His Spectre.
Time and time again, running those simulations, Ryoken saw all the pathways in which Spectre and Earth would become remarkably good friends. Family. Partners. Whatever form their bond took, it was unbreakable and truly only brought the best in each other. A clean track of wins for both of them, in theory, at least. And it had incensed Ryoken.
   Spectre was his. Not Earth’s.
Ryoken was Spectre’s first everything. First friend, first confidante, first person who had ever truly loved him. Spectre adored Ryoken and Ryoken matched that adoration as best as he could.
But he saw the digital future. He saw how Earth would disrupt that. The Ignis had to be exterminated regardless. It would be best if Spectre knew, it would protect him. The truth would only ever hurt but Ryoken now suspected, he had been for a fair few months now, that Spectre had come to realise that the bond that he was meant to have with his Ignis would have been incredible. And Ryoken had destroyed that possibility in some vain, petty destruction that only served his own ego.
Ryoken rationalised it as being a child. Volatile, short tempered, not properly fused or wired yet. But he still felt it. That streak of possessiveness that flared a mile wide as he watched Earth and Spectre meet for the first time. Or was it a reunion as they had always known each other, on some level that Ryoken couldn’t begin to understand because he hadn’t been the one experimented on and had life created from his brainwaves and duelling. A bond that could only be truly called soulful or psychic.
A storm raged inside of him when he should have been happy for his beloved friend. Instead, he was in wrongful furor that Spectre might be able to become happy because of someone who was not him. It was a storm between right and wrong and Ryoken knew to part it not unlike the beam of a lighthouse and he knew which side to take, even if it did repulse him. He just couldn’t let himself get in the way of Spectre’s happiness as Spectre was, easily, his most important person.
Spectre’s eyes were wide with the purest wonder that Ryoken didn’t even think he was capable of such an unguarded, vulnerable expression. In the corners of his eyes was the glistening on a single tear. He hazarded a feeble smile as he welcomed his Ignis back to the realm of the living with a shaking hand.
Earth reached out to him and his demeanour could only be described as calm. The past half an hour was a whirlwind, even to Ryoken so he was surprised - and maybe even impressed - that Earth could be so stony face before Spectre who was coming close to blubbering with happiness with the events that had occurred. Once more, Pandora’s box had been open but this time, it had been Playmaker’s fingers on the lock and key.
He had brought back the Ignis and returned them to a respectable vicinity of their Origins, forcing the data back through the Link VRAINS and getting it to rematerialise in the real world. Ryoken, a good programmer and coder in his own right, could only regard it as nothing short of magic.
“It is good to see you.” Earth said. The sound of his voice was even but gladdened.
He reached out to Spectre’s hand and though he was a large Ignis, he was still entirely dwarfed by the scale of a human. Both his hands clasped onto a couple of Spectre’s fingers and he was made to seem so small because of it. Nonetheless, he gallantly shook Spectre’s hands and that appeared to cleanse them of their nervous jitters.
“It's good to meet you, Earth,” Spectre replied, a hiccup to his voice, “but it feels like I already know you.”
Earth’s eyes softened, “I feel the same.” he confessed.
Ryoken wanted to scream. To yell. To rage. To do anything but let this selfishness stew inside of him as he held onto the helmet of his VR set. They hadn’t even had the time to get up and stretch their legs before being thrust into this situation that Ryoken could only describe as the most impossible and unplanned future possible, hurtling forward at a pace of a few minutes at best.
Spectre shyly glanced towards Ryoken, his heart beating quicker in his chest than it normally did. He could see the upset in Ryoken’s face but he was glad that Ryoken was here. He wanted Ryoken to be here for this quite dearly. He returned his gaze to Earth and it was apologetic.
“Are you aware?” Spectre hesitantly asked Earth. “Of my activities as a Knight of Hanoi?”
Earth was very quiet, his expression turned very stern and with glacial speed, he finally replied, “No…”
“No?” Ryoken exclaimed. He was startled and he awkwardly took his interjection as an excuse to cross the vast chasm between his own perch on one side of the room and Spectre’s on the other.
“Truly?” Spectre asked and he had to swallow a giggle.
“Er… yes… truly.” Earth said. “My best recollection of events is as follows: us Ignis made a pact not to interact with the material world, including with our Origins, for a while, we lived in the best harmony we could muster…
“One day, a dragon destroyed the Cyberse World, we were protected by Ai who did his best to flee from this dragon… When Ai released us, Windy and Lightning withdrew. I believe now to put in place their own machinations that resulted in this Bohman figure being created.
“I only desired to find Aqua, she was taken before I could make my decision. A decision that has now been taken from me as I have now been thrust before you… But I wanted to base my decision on logic and sound information. I needed to know more about the humans but unlike my duplicitous kin, even Aqua to an extent, I endeavoured to honour my vow so I never sought you out.
“So, now I have to ask, what were your activities as a Knight of Hanoi? It sounds noble so I desire to tentatively approve.” Earth looked up very cautiously at Spectre, and even towards Ryoken, as he finished his ramble.
Ryoken could not believe what he was hearing. He couldn’t decide if this was extremely lucky or extremely unlucky. How ironic that such a perceptive and observant person such as Spectre produced such an oblivious Ignis, even if Earth was right to conclude that he needed to proceed with information rather than instinct or some other whim, no matter how fond. He supposed that it would be up to Spectre to decide the worth of the fortune before them.
And Spectre seemed very quick to make that decision, he took a breath then explained, “Master Ryoken is the dragon who destroyed your first home. We, the Knights of Hanoi, have been hunting you for the past five, almost six, years, trying to destroy.”
Earth’s blue eyes went wide. This was certainly news to him - and Ryoken did find himself relishing that.
“Is that true?” he asked, turning to Ryoken. “You are the good doctor’s son, are you not? The son of the man who created us Ignis, I - I have vague memories of your face as a child, seeing you from within the apparatus I was created within. Is that true?”
“In its entirety.” Ryoken gravely replied, folding his arms.
   “M-My…” Earth murmured.
“You understand why three of your companions were so eager to take up arms against us humans now, don’t you?” Ryoken said and he felt some snake of vindication inside of him, that Earth may flee from them and all would be right with what was left of Ryoken’s little world.
And yet, Earth steadied, “I do,” he admitted, “but Spectre spoke in past tense just now, I noticed. He said “for five, almost six years”, that would imply the activity has ceased, albeit recently.”
“Correct.” Ryoken growled. “We desire to protect the Link VRAINS, to do what we can with technology that once brought misery, to bring joy. To keep the Incident concealed so the victims can enjoy privacy.” Ryoken then took a sharp breath. “To even allow the behaving Ignis some space in this world, you were created to enrich humanity but per my observations, I believe it is only possible for you lot to touch a handful of lives at best. Though it pains me, I would appreciate it if you were able to do so with Spectre.”
Now it was Spectre’s turn to be in disbelief of his own ears. His face paled but purely because he was stunned to hear such words from Ryoken’s mouth. He thought it was going to take hours upon hours of convincing him, grovelling all but on his knees, to allow Earth to stay with them. Ryoken had always been brusque upon the subject of Spectre’s unique Ignis at the best of times and at the worst, Spectre recoiled to remember what was said implicitly and explicitly about Earth’s death from Ryoken.
Earth’s expression lightened and a peculiar thing happened. A thin branch manifested in his hands. It was thin and wiry, delicate, plumed with rounded leaves with a few bounties blooming off the stem. Earth held onto it preciously. Spectre recognised the branch by its leaves; Ryoken recognised it by its boon. A literal olive branch and it was one that Earth chose to gift to Ryoken.
“It is my understanding that the olive branch is a symbol of surrender and compromise to humans, that to give one to another means to cease an argument or war.” Earth rambled.
“Yes, that is correct.” Spectre assured him.
“Then my intentions should be apparent but if not, if I have muddled them somehow, I wish to live long and well alongside you and Spectre.” Earth said. “I value peace over all else, to the point of uselessness, perhaps, but that is who I am.”
Ryoken’s gaze wandered towards Spectre. He looked so… hopeful. It was bright and bittersweet, as such he was holding his tongue. Ryoken took a breath and he accepted Earth’s gift.
“I believe I can find those values complementary to my own.” Ryoken replied.
There likely wasn’t a response that could have overjoyed Spectre more. He got to his feet, untangling from the VR set, and embraced Ryoken. Ryoken stiffened but he pat Spectre’s shoulder before finally hugging him back. Earth, meanwhile, settled on Spectre’s head.
He looked down on them both rather curiously, like he was still quantifying the various rituals of humans even though hugging was not something alien to him as an Ignis. It was more the metrics of these two and their particular relationship, perhaps even how he would figure into their equation.
If so, Ryoken felt the same.
He still very much, at his best and kindest, wanted to fling Earth far, far away from his domain, keep him alive just with other arrangements for a home, perhaps with Aqua and either of her girls or even with Ai and Yusaku. Instead, Ryoken swallowed that one-sided resentment that he had stoked since he was a child, trying to understand the intertwining paths of Spectre and his Ignis and instead, endeavoured to make peace with this Ignis. For Spectre’s sake. He would merely have to believe that Spectre whose heart seemingly only had enough space to love and adore just one could have enough room for two.
After all, at the end of the day and at the end of time, all Ryoken wanted was to make Spectre happy and it had been proven to him, time and time again, there should be no better way than to let him have his Ignis. So, perhaps, he could come to tolerate - maybe even become fond - for the socially awkward little creature, too. If only for Spectre.

(when u provide prompts & then have no time to participate hhgghhg) consider this my grab bag, "tidbits from almost every day post" for @ygotplusweek and plz forgive meeee
heyo, I'm JujY, and I'm a lapsed YGO fan :P Duel Monsters was one of my first-ever fandoms along with Pokemon, and I still have a soft spot for it. I have vague memories of getting into GX, and then I drifted away after watching a few episodes of 5Ds. Also, my predilection for polyships bloomed well after I "left" YGO fandom, so aside from Anzu/Yami/Yugi I don't have many polyships, never mind headcanons about them oops~ Oh wait i remember shipping Jaden/Alexis/Syrus from GX for a hot sec! Because "wow Jaden and Alexis have a thing BUT WAIT SYRUS AND JAIDEN ARE SO CUTE help" (yeah ygo was one of my dub only fandoms lel). But thinking about what I'd do for this week brought some.... interesting things to mind >_>;
Here's a little listing of ships I'd probably have, if/when I return~ and, yeah, most of em are crack and OT3s bc that's how a lotta my polyshipping goes ahaha. "I like A/B and A/C" equals "well then B/C are dating too SO THERE"
Joey/Mai/Seto
Mokuba/Rebecca/Serenity
Anzu(Tea)Mai/Serenity
Jaden/Jesse/Alexis (bc i forgot i was Jesse/Jaden trash for a while)
Yusei/Aki/Jack (also maybe Carly bc why not smush 2 OTPs together)
and uh. That's it! Hoping to write some Anzu/Yami/Yugi drabbles now that I'm thinking about them but haha, I Was Unprepared. Maybe for the next polyship week, or maybe just because!

Sleeping in the Midday Sun
Yami hopes to get a quick nap in before Yugi and Jounouchi come home.
It's not quick.

The walk from the Kame Game Shop to the apartment was not a long one.
The path was one well traveled, one of routine. Yami walked this path alone both early morning and late afternoon, not minding the alone time in the slightest. After all, he'd spent millennia alone in the Puzzle, what was 15 minutes here and there each day? Technically, he wasn't even 'alone', he'd had the privilege of being surrounded by people, whether they be walking to their destinations, hanging out at the shops he passed by, or driving on the roads next to him, things solitude in the Puzzle denied him of.
He'd been walking for a little while now, having left the Kame Game Shop after his near daily shift there. Yugi's grandfather had let him go early, as today had been one of the Game Shop's rarer slow days when it came to customers, and after having seen exactly what time he was let off of work excited him somewhat. It was only 3:00; there might have been a chance he'd get back to the apartment before Yugi and Jounouchi did.
Maybe he could sneak in a quick nap.
While yes, the Game Shop had had a slower day than normal in terms of customers, they'd had a busy day in terms of product delivery and reorganization in both the back and front of the shop. Yami had lugged around several boxes chock-full of new cards and board games, offering to do it all single-handedly so Yugi's grandfather didn't have to strain his back, had helped the old man restock their cards and games, and had crafted Duel Monsters decks fit for beginners at the behest of Yugi's grandfather, so that they could prepare for a special sale day they had coming up soon, which focused on bringing in new customers.
So Yami was looking forward to some much needed down time.
As he rounded the corner of the street he was on, the apartment complex came into view, and Yami gave a sigh of relief, his body begging him to just get home and onto a bed, a couch, something comfortable enough to grant him a brief slumber.
It wasn't long at all before he was at the door, keys jingling as he pulled them from his pocket, unlocking the door. Stepping into the apartment, Yami blinked at the darkness that lay before him, smiling before flicking on a light and closing the door behind him. Good. Being greeted by a dark apartment meant Yugi and Jounouchi weren't back yet.
He was quick to kick off his shoes and head towards the bedroom, shedding his work clothes and slipping into a pair of pajamas. Sure, it had only just turned about 3:20-ish now that he was home, but he had no plans to go anywhere else for the rest of the day, and Yugi and Jounouchi rarely went out themselves on school nights after coming home from their courses at Domino University. So he felt content in his choice of clothing, giving a yawn before crawling into bed. He moved to rearrange the pillows somewhat, before laying his head down, and allowing sleep to claim him quickly.

"Damn, that exam really kicked my ass today, Yug'." Jounouchi whined as he and Yugi began their walk home, his hands folded behind his head as he looked up at the sky. "I did all that studyin' and I'm still feelin' like I'm gonna bomb it."
Yugi shook his head at Jounouchi's words. "I'm sure you did just fine, Jounouchi-kun." Yugi raised a hand to pat Jounouchi's arm, and the tall blond sighed in response, pulling his hands away from the back of his head to instead let his arms hang. "Would some burgers help?"
"Yug', do ya even need to ask?"
Yugi laughed at that as the two changed their course, now walking to Burger World and getting a bag full of burgers and fries to-go. Jounouchi offered to carry the brown paper sack, and the two kept the conversation going all the way back to their apartment, Yugi playfully shaking his head as he pulled out the keys from his pocket. "You're really gonna eat three and a half burgers?"
"Well, I mean, the half is assumin' Yami don't eat his full burger like he normally don't." Jounouchi shot Yugi a grin. "But I only got myself 2 things a' fries, so I think I'll have room for the burgers."
"Jounouchi-kun, you're ridiculous." Yugi said with a smile as he opened the door, "I'm lucky if I can even eat two burgers, and..." Yugi trailed off as he blinked, looking at the lit apartment. "... Jounouchi-kun, did we forget to turn of the lights before we left?"
Jounouchi looked inside, frowning slightly. "I don't think so? I thought I gottem before we did." Whereas Yugi was quick to slip out of his shoes and walk into the apartment, Jounouchi looked down at the area of the floor where they kept their shoes, his head tilting slightly as he noticed Yami's work shoes. "Did Yami get home early?" Jounouchi looked to Yugi then. "His shoes are here."
Yugi blinked at that. "Maybe? He's never been home before us though." A tinge of concern coursed through Yugi then, frowning as he looked around for Yami. "I hope he didn't get sick or something..."
"Nah," Jounouchi said as he kicked his shoes off, stepping into the apartment as well, kicking the door closed behind him. "He's probably fine!" He made his way to their kitchen table then, placing the Burger World bag and his school bag on it before sighing. "I'm gonna change into some sweatpants. We ain't goin' nowhere else."
"At least put on a throwaway shirt." Yugi said as he watched Jounouchi make his way towards the bedroom. "You and I both know you're gonna get messy eating three and a half burgers."
Jounouchi smirked at Yugi's words, stopping just shy of the bedroom door before he turned and looked at Yugi. "What? Nah. You just don't wanna get distracted while you're eatin'." He teased, causing Yugi to flush red somewhat.
"I-- Just go change!"
Jounouchi laughed, and headed into the bedroom, only to stop again after opening the door.
"Jounouchi-kun, I said go chan--"
Jounouchi shot Yugi an amused smirk, putting a finger up to his lips to quiet him. He then nodded his head over in a sign to get Yugi to come see, and Yugi obliged, walking over to the bedroom door to see what Jounouchi saw.
There, snuggled comfortably in bed, was Yami.
Yugi smiled softly at the sight. Yami was sleeping on his side in the center of the bed, holding onto Yugi's pillow like it was Yugi himself, and his back pressed against Jounouchi's pillow, like it was Jounouchi there behind him. The look on his face was so peaceful, so relaxed, so... serene. It was a rare expression on the ex-pharaoh's face, one that only Yugi and Jounouchi got to see.
"Guess he had a busy day at the Game Shop." Yugi murmured, the gentle smile never leaving his face.
"Guess so." Jounouchi murmured back. With an exhale, Jounouchi moved from his spot in the doorframe, quietly changing out of his clothes and into his favorite pair of sweatpants and an old shirt. He could feel Yugi's gaze on him as he changed, but said nothing, not wanting to tease the duelist and risk waking up Yami. Though he did give the other male a knowing smirk, causing Yugi to flush red all over again. Jounouchi snickered, though instead of walking back to the door to go and eat, he walked to the side of the bed.
"Jounouchi-kun?" Yugi whispered, not wanting to wake Yami. "What are you doing?"
Jounouchi's nose scrunched as he looked over Yami's sleeping position, and Jounouchi folded his arms, shaking his head. "Pretty ballsy of the guy, thinkin' he could replace me with a pillow."
Yugi blinked at that. "Huh?"
He then watched as Jounouchi pulled his pillow away from behind Yami and back into its original spot, before shedding his shirt and climbing into bed, laying on his side as he scooted closer to Yami. When Yami didn't wake up from the sudden movement, Jounouchi's brows raised and he smirked. "Damn, he must really be tired." With that, Jounouchi draped his arm across Yami, gently pulling the ex-pharaoh closer to him.
"Jounouchi-kun...!" Yugi looked worried, his gaze looking from Yami, to Jounouchi, and back again. "Don't wake him up!"
Jounouchi tilted his head over to the other side of Yami, looking at Yugi as he did so. "You wanna get in on this?" He murmured, "Or do you wanna let a pillow take your place?"
Yugi blinked at that, his lips curling slightly into a small frown. Like hell he was gonna let himself be replaced by a pillow while his boyfriends snuggled without him! Not bothering to change out of his clothes into something more comfortable, Yugi made his way to the other side of the bed, looking at Jounouchi before looking at the pillow that was threatening to take his place. Carefully, like moving a block out of a Jenga tower, Yugi gently pulled his pillow out of Yami's hold, placing it back in its spot.
A hum of displeasure left Yami as he felt the loss of comfort in his arms, sleepily murmuring a whine of "aibou" that nearly caused Jounouchi to snort in amusement. Yugi was quick to climb into bed, snuggling close up to Yami, whose arms were quick to latch around him, even in sleep. Yugi smiled triumphantly, resting his head on Yami's shoulder, when he felt Jounouchi's hand on his arm.
"Ain't this better than a pillow?" He heard the tall blond quietly ask through a yawn, amusement laced in his tone.
Yugi smiled. "Yeah, Jounouchi-kun." He murmured in response, yawning himself as he nuzzled Yami's shoulder. "Yeah, it is."

Summary: Yuugi has had a trying birthday week, and when Atem isn’t able to get together a birthday present, Yuugi asks him to ask Jounouchi out for them instead.
Atem is not particularly well suited for this task. Especially when Jounouchi is so easily distracted by girls, and pudding, and video games.
Also on ffnet.
Hey, guys~ I decided to write something for @ygotplusweek. It’s feathershipping, which is a little out of my comfort zone, but in a fun way I hope ;)  Also some Anzu/Rebecca, a few other teased ships, and some of Mai & Jounouchi being uncomfortably physical friends, lol.
And there is a birthday party, and it is a get-together fic of sorts, but I’m afraid it doesn’t match any of the prompts too well. Mea culpa.
Thank you for your interest~

@ygotplusweek Day One! What made you fall in love with this ship? What made them fall in love with each other?
Gonna start off this fan week light, and just do some headcanons/ranting regarding my ultimate OT3 and why they love each other! Hope you fellow encourageshippers enjoy them <3
((edit: *coughs nervously* so apparently what I meant by “light” was actually “a giant essay on why these three adore each other” so umm yeah I’m gonna put it under the cut because it turned out a lot longer than I expected heh))
I think the main thing that really “made me ship them” was a lot due to the fact that I loved seeing the characters grow together. One on one, each of them had very unique friendships with each other.
Yugi and Anzu had the sweet, simple understanding childhood friends type bond, Anzu and Atem had to put a bit of work and time into their friendship and let it grow which imo made for a very strong connection, then of course Yugi and Atem shared this impossibly deep, intricate partnership that’s almost indescribable. I just see these bonds meshing well and easily growing into a very healthy, well rounded relationship. Whether or not the persons involved would make for a healthy future is always a BIG factor in me shipping something, so these three having the such sweet, selfless and strong bond with one another makes me very drawn to them.
Now, as for what made them fall for each other? *cracks neck* well lets take a look, shall we?
Yugi is most definitely drawn to strong personalities, which both Anzu and Atem posses, as well as kind, fair hearts. But lets look at their individual qualities.
Anzu was likely one of his only friends growing up, so not only does he have that nostalgic fondness, but something much deeper that grew from it. Kids are cruel and we know poor Yugi was bullied, probably pretty consistently, but Anzu stayed by him. She played hand-held games with him, stood up for him when classmates took their teasing too far (say she didn’t do that i’LL FIGHT YOU) but most importantly, she simply stayed with him. It didn’t matter how quirky he was, she smiled and laughed along with him. It didn’t matter that every other boy was getting their growth spurts while his body acted like someone put a stopper in his biological clock, she would just shrug and assure him his would come someday. It didn’t matter when his timid, shy side showed through and overwhelmed him, she stood up even taller in the hopes of sparking his own confidence and sass. She accepted him as he was first and foremost, likely at a time where he had never experienced that (aside from maybe family members). She understood and accepted him, who’s to blame him for falling for his best friend?
Now enter Atem. Yes Yugi was fine the way he was, but he had this confidence and bravery inside him that was stunted, blocked somehow. While Anzu loved Yugi for who he was, Atem always encouraged and brought out what Yugi could be, the best version of himself he was always meant to be. Not only that, lets also not forget how Atem made Yugi feel like he really mattered, like he was needed by someone. Yugi always wanted to be the person someone else relied on and confided in and Atem was that person. Yeah on the surface Atem seems like the cool collected one who had everything figured out and under control, but deep down that’s simply not the truth. He even admits himself (pretty readily) that Yugi helps him in ways no one would even realize and I think Yugi know’s that. Atem grabbed Yugi and depended on him in a way that fulfilled a side of him no one else had. Yeah, I’d fall for that too tbh.
Now let’s talk about Anzu and her love. We’re talking about two men who, together, are arguably THE PERFECT man. But what makes the perfect man?
Again, Yugi is the comfortable, familiar, cozy sweater of a person due to their childhood friendship. In fact so comfortable, it took a long time to actually realize she was more than a little in love with him. So what if she walks with him to school every single day? They’ve done it since they were in fifth grade! So what if she always chooses to sit next to him no matter where they are? It’s the best position to talk with him, duh! So what if she’d rather sit inside during lunch and listen to Yugi go on and on about duel monsters instead of watching the popular boys play basket ball? You’re the crazy one not her- I mean do you see the sparkle in his eyes she can’t pass up a chance to see that! If you actually asked her what she loved most about Yugi, she’d think of nothing and everything at the same time. His lovable qualities: his kind heart, his loyalty, the way he makes her feel like the most important person in the world by just looking at her, those things are all so familiar and apparent to her by now, she can barely define them.
But that familiarity came at a price, because the first one she actually knew she fell for, was Atem. The knight every girl, in some way or another, dreams about. Yes she is a strong woman who can stand her own, but who doesn’t love a confident, smirking, mysterious hero-type? Atem awoke a sense of adventure and discovery no one else could provide her with. But there was also the complexity of their situation, for a long time there was this distance that seemed impossible to shorten, which likely only made her all the more interested. And then when they finally closed that distance? Oh boy, dose that make a girl feel special. Her patients and persistence paid off and now she gets to truly discover him, even if it was only as a friend at first. The best part? His mystique and confidence wasn’t all there was too him like so many ‘bad boys’ who may have caught her interest, he was kind and genuine at his core. Yeah he has his moments of overt arrogance, but in his heart of hearts he’s a good person, and that’s the winning factor that really sealed the deal for her heart. Girl you’ve got good good taste.
And finally, we have Atem. Woo boy, does he have a future full of love with these two. The first two who accepted him in this new chance at life.
Yugi saved him. Simple as that. Okay okay so, not that simple, let me elaborate. Not only did Yugi free him from his prison inside the puzzle, but this sweet sweet boy selflessly lets him share his body so that he might have at least something that resembles a life? How did he get so lucky to find this embodiment of all things light. Yes, light, that’s what Yugi is, his light. Atem has always been scared of his darker tendencies, ashamed even, worried that the darkness is who he is deep down. But again, there’s Yugi, his light and reminder that he can be better than his lesser qualities. People always praise him for bringing out Yugi’s confidence and strength, but in Atem’s eyes, that pales in comparison to what Yugi brought out in him. Yugi is the reason he can be kind and gentle, the reason he didn’t fall into darkness forever. They make each other the best versions of each other, and Atem is forever grateful for that.
But let’s not forget Anzu. Admiration is likely the first word that pops into his mind when thinking about when he first fell for her. Her determination to make her dreams a reality no matter how hard it was. Loyalty that ensured she always stood up and by her friends no matter the situation. Valor and heart mixing together to make the perfect balance of fearless defender and caring supporter no matter how life tried to break her. Even if he didn’t show it outwardly, he was entranced by this pillar of love and strength. She was the first to really accept him as his own person, instead of an extension of Yugi (save for Yugi himself) and that truly awoke him. Yugi helped bring the light to his life, but Anzu lit the passion in his soul. Her own enthusiasm for life and the things that filled it, in turn, made him love life again, albeit in his own more even-toned way. Her passions spilled over and fueled his own, even if she didn’t notice it. She is drive and zest and spunk and joy all in one! Simply put, she makes him feel alive, and who doesn’t love that feeling?
Whew, wow, if you read all the way through that I appreciate you, friend! Please please feel free too add your own thoughts and comments or just talk to me about these precious babies! Thanks for reading <3
