What are you reading right now: Reading a book called Count Your Lucky Stars by Alexandra Bellefleur! I think it's pretty well known as a sapphic romance (at least I've seen it in several mainstream bookstores) and I'm enjoying it pretty well so far! I'm about halfway through and just trying to find a good evening to let me get through the second half because it's one of those books that I find I like reading about 70-100 pages at a time.

How many books have you read in the last six months: So I started doing audio books late last year and carried that into this year so I'm currently at 10! Which is is way more by the summer than I have in the past few years. Count Your Lucky Stars will be my second physical book this year though.

Give a recommendation: So if you're into audio books I highly recommend All Systems Red, the first of The Murderbot Diaries books. The first like four are about 4 hours long audio wise and the guy who reads them is really funny! I'm sure they're also good physical book wise too - the story's just very fun.

Stan's strong brain theory

I was watching the Gravity Falls panel at this year's new York comic con and (this) one part stood out to me in particular. It's about 2 minutes long. (but you know watch the whole panel if you can it's so fun)

It feeds into a silly theory I had about Stanley. That he's got some zen like control over his own mind/consciousness that even he might not understand but at the very least it makes him stronger against Bill. (Last episode spoilers)

Evidence I have for this is:

1) In dreamscapers the way he just knew he was talking to Dipper in his own head.

This might not be evidence on its own but

2) The way he was able to suppress his own thoughts so that Bill wouldn't know he wasn't in Ford's mind was pretty Strong.

Now this situation though non-cannon provides a third part to that evidence.

3) Even in his dream, weird as it is, he's able to question when Bill is disrupting the flow of his subconscious.

If he knew what lucid dreaming was he could probably pick it up pretty easily and could probably even choose not to have that dream but feels too guilty to let it go.

To him it might be a gift he has that he assumes everyone can do because he's thinking "Well if my brain is so great how come I'm not smart like Ford or I messed up at school?"

It seems like something he wouldn't have found a use for in his life except to specify screw over Bill.

P.S. After writing this I literally just re-watched the Stanturian candidate from not having remembered it at all. It is kind of one minus point to my theory in regards to the tie they used on him. I feel like it wouldn't have worked or would have worked less on him.

This part caught my attention while reading. This redesign of the Red Keep shows a reflection of Alicent's general arc in season 2. The castle is stripped of the overt religious imagery meanwhile Alicent goes through her arc of disillusionment and in part seems to lose her religion. This is also shown through her wearing less and less religious symbols in clothing and jewelry until she is stripped bare with the Lake scene. A scene where she undergoes a sort of baptism, a killing of the old self.

Film:

Pitch Perfect. (The first one's undoubtedly the best but once you're in it you're in it) It's just fucking good fun ok? The songs make me happy. And 2 of the lead actors have been working the queer angle for years. 11/10

The Bee Movie - my wife and I will recommend this to literally anyone who will listen to us. Puns! Just endless Bee puns. 12/10.

Non-Fiction TV:

Dr G Medical Examiner. Just absolutely dog shit quality factual programming. They use the same graphics every week. In the later seasons they put really awkward personal life segments in for no discernable reason. Unbelievably watchable 11/10.

Deadly Women - **voiceover** Adele was a 13 year old Hispanic teenager. **On screen reconstruction** a middle aged white woman staggers in wearing juicy sweatpants. I have literally no idea why I enjoy this show so much. Maybe it's the brilliant (((whom))) sound effect they use all the time? Maybe it's Candace DeLong's hilarious turn of phrase "she was crazy...LIKE A FOX". 12/10

Fiction TV:

Ohhh boy...

Lost Girl - it's a succubus that needs to have sex or she dies. And she's played by Anna Silk. The story is actually surprisingly good once you get into it. Except season 4 when Anna was heavily pregnant and that had to do that insane train thing for like 6 episodes?? 11/10

Pretty Little Liars - ok, don't kill me. I know it is problematic AT BEST, especially in the later seasons. But it's also...just really fucking habit forming? If you have the self control, watch just the first 2 seasons and stop and it'll be nicely wrapped up before it gets ... Well...let's say it goes downhill 11/10

Books:

Different Dress by Lori L Lake - to be fair, I last read this maybe 15 years ago, but I do regret giving it away now as I'd do that shit again. It's just a cheesy romance on tour with a country singer. I loved it. (12/10)
