I love your headcanons/stories about Daniil's mom, as well as the art you've made of her! I was actually wondering if you had any thoughts about Daniil's dad. We at least know that he was a military man and wanted the same for his son but that's about it

i've talked about him a bunch scattered across like seven trillion dankovsky lore posts (mostly about how he reacted to his son being gay + the slow acceptation of it until he offered him a chokha as a university-going gift in a meaning of You Might Be Gay. But You're Still My Masculine Man Son + being kinda. Afraid of his son's boyfriend until the boyfriend becomes interested in his + dankovsky's shared beetles collection and he's like mmmmmh maybe he's a good guy actually) but i have a few other things... come here [grabs you]

dankovsky's dad's side of the family To Meeee is georgian [hence. daniil mikheilovich [georgian romanization] and not mikhailovich [russian romanization]] but has been in russia for longer than his mom's side has been. on mom's side i think either her parents or grandparents emigrated, on dad's side i think it's been longer; hence why the paternal last name eventually became. i don't know what word to choose. "assimilated" maybe? like a fully russian last name came into the picture [and then was passed down to dankovsky] instead of daniil's mom's maiden name that is still armenian. i think the dad's side of the family still stayed within georgian/caucasian communities for a bit, mostly mingling and bonding with other emigrants, keeping in touch with the culture of their country of origins, and that's probably in one of them that daniil's mommy and daddy met

i think he's also kind of a small guy like dankovsky. i see dankovsky as 170cm [1cm taller than in p1 (bc i need mark to be the 169cm he is i think it's funny) but also 13cm smaller than in p2 lol] his mom to meee is 155cm so teeny weeny but i think he doesn't just have that from her i think his dad is also like. either 171cm or 169cm idk who i see as being taller on here

as a ref for dankovsky's dad's portrait when i drew daniil's apartment scene so i think dad can grow that type of beard. (i think daniil also Can he just refuses to do so he likes to be clean-shaved.) he'd be really proud of his big beard i think it's a great deal about his own masculinity and power to him.

he was [canon lore] a military man who truly tried to make a military man out of his son. in my mind it was also a way to try to counterbalance a certain like. Overcompensating. for his son being gay. i've written it more but tldr for a lot of fathers, their son being gay is an attack on their own masculinity/sexuality because they see the son as an extension of themselves, and i think dankovsky's father tried to make him a military man both because he thought he'd do good + it'd offer him an honorable life, because he saw dankvsky as an extension of himself as dads do and wanted to share this with him, AND because he thought teaching him to fight and shoot a gun would like compensate for the Gay Thing. now dankovsky's still gay but a fucking menace and sharp shooter to boot

i think he has a certain like. roughness that came with the time period right like a hold (and wish to hold) on masculinity which maybe made him a bit... not unkind, but unsweet. a bit emotionally reserved, but as like A Man Thing unfortunately. he was a little distant towards dankovsky as he grew up and The Gay Thing became obvious, but has had to like. kind of suck it up and live with it. he's re-grown closer just before he left for uni. i think he would mellow in the company of horses (i think he truly liked horses + maybe even was cavalry) and shared his love of them with his son teaching him to ride + mellow and offer a sort of almost childish wonder in the collection of beetles (which dankovsky took from him as well). i think dankovsky cherishes the beetle-collecting with him because it was among the few times were dad didn't try to Compensate for him and truly let himself be a little whimsical

i think he eventually left the military, i'm thinking he could have been discharged for an injury. i also think he's still alive during the events of the game [just like his wife/dankovsky's mom], however i'm thinking he could be working away from home. mom stays home because she has health problems but i think he's a bit healthier and can travel so he can get money to support her, even if she still works on her own

i like to think he might have played an instrumence... daniil's mom i see as playing the cello [and daniil taking from her] and i'm thinking mom and dad could have met over music. he could play... maybe piano... fiddle... panduri.... makes you think. but i think he stopped as daniil was being expected + growing up because he had Military Things to do. maybe with his discharge of it he got back into it...

i think his ass cannot cook. truly i don't. i think he's a foodie and loves his treats and traditional foods but even when he puts all his heart into it. he fucks it up.

Hello this is a random thought but first off. Thank you for headcanoning the moms (like Daniil's or the twins') because God Knows there's enough dead/nonexistent moms in this story. But then I'm always curious (because my own hcs are not firmly settled there) if Daniil's mom is alive during his adulthood (as she appears in some of your art).. what does she think of her son's career choices. Does she complain that he should get a more respectable job than disgraced mad scientist? Is she supportive in principle but upset because he gets into trouble and she's worried? Is she enthusiastically supportive? Did she attend his lectures and embarrass him by loudly being like "that's my son there he's brilliant and you all should fund his research ☺️"? Did she brag about her son reanimating a dead person to her friends at a tea party? What's the vibe there

HIII WELL FORST OF ALL THANK YOU... IT'S NOT MUCH BUT IT'S HONEST WORK... and ok ok so my belief is that she. doesn't know What he does. like the details of his work. i think from university on they don't see each other very much, and dankovsky tries to Not involve her too much, for multiple reasons of 1) she's of fragile health so he doesn't want to scare/disgust her into illness 2) involving her could put the Powers That Be*'s eyes on her, and possibly put her in danger if anyone tries to like. arrest him for medical malpractice or whatnot. he tells her very little but she's very proud of the little he tells her. he tells her he's into longevity research (which, technically... not wrong), which she is very proud of. i think she got a copy of his university thesis, but she didn't read through it, because it was a bit complicated for her: however she's so happy he did it, and holds it dear. she doesn't know about his money problems, his frankensteinesque behaviors... and that's on purpose by him so she cannot be bothered by people who would be after him. there is also the fact that To Me she is a religious woman [i often talk about dankovsky having been raised eastern orthodox In My Mind's Eye and she's part of it], so he doesn't know if she'd like his death-defying stunts too much, as it is... quite heretical honestly. he's not a believer, he's an atheist theomachist, like Doesn't Believe In God, But If There's One, We Got Beef [which informs the Way He Is about death and dying], but he loves and respects his mom, and does not want to like. scare or disgust her. [when she learns, later, it's a whole Ambiguous thing. on one hand, going against god's design is sinful and heretical. on the other, orthodoxy from what i know explores the part of divinity/godliness in man = man should behave like god, because man wears the face of god/was made in god's image (source: greek orthodox friend, which is Diffrent from russian eastern orthodoxy, but like, also i'm making my research lol) so it's like. he's a lil bit like him fr... no i shan't say that it's heretical... well... a lil bit... no... (<- yeva's internal monologue)(i'm writing something about it) so. a whooole thing]

she doesn't know he's bringing the dead back, or trying to. she doesn't know what has gone down in ToG; she just received a letter in which he told her he was traveling to place where he could maybe find a breakthrough in his research, but since they don't see, or send each other letters often nowadays, she didn't think much of it when she had no news for2 weeks. she only realizes 1) something Fucking Scary happened when he comes back after the 12 days looking like hell 2) that this Something scary is within a bigger picture of Scarier. queue:

tldr: she's alive and well; she don't know about the whole resuscitation bits because 1) dankovksy Gets In Trouble and doesn't' want her to get in trouble if he tells her 2) he's preddy distant 3) she's a christian woman so the whole playing god bit would irk her a bit and even if dankovsky is fully confortable being an affront to god and wishes everyone had the rationality of science and humanism he can't deny he loves his momma and doesn't want to hurt her like that even if she's pious. she's Supportive in the way any good mother should be, but she has no idea What she's supporting him in doing, and he prefers it that way.

so i finally watched the grace relocation quest (the one where she ends up living with peter) and its so silly. those two are crazy in their own way. peterstakh adopting grace vs burakhovsky adopting mishka and spichka. they are meeting for a parents club and argue about how to raise their kids correctly

the Peter Becomes Dad quest is so fucking funny to me. what do you MEAN you put the daughter of alcoholics who likely suffers from some kind of FASD from it and is likely predisposed to addiction with the town's notorious alcoholic!!!! but i do think her and peter make a betiful family... i've spoken about it on here already i think rubin Struggles with being a father figure because 1) orphan behavior 2) he spent the past few years of his life fighting for recognition in the eyes of someone he saw as a father [and who saw him as a foster son from P1 canon] so he's quite uncomfortable being Grace's Dad because he has no good association with fatherhood... so for now he is Grace's Dad's Boyfriend. and they all fuck with it 👍 they're comfortable with it

i know grace is SPOILED in the peterstakh e grace household. both peter and rubin come from Not Only Child households [peter. literally has his twin & rubin has artemy to fight against As The Other Son] so they spoil her. she's like their little princess. i think they both begin to spend a lot of time and energy caring for her bc it helps them keep their minds off The Darkness (and peter keep his hands off the booze). they all kinda. imprint on each other like baby birds.

it's a bit different in the burakhovsky e spichka e mishka household because even if the kids are as independent as Grace / Raised Themselves, they do really like their freedoms still... Murky is still spoiled & cared for more than Sticky because she's younger + needs more support while sticky does whatever the fuck he does but i think this family unit doesn't have the. Fusionality of whatever the fuck peter and grace have even if they love each other very very much... of course they do.

peter's mom adores grace btw. everyone goes to her for a holiday & she has been sent a letter that one of her sons has a kid now and she's like. Oh My Fucking God. she fully expects like. a baby. an infant. like one of her sons had one like participated in the making of one. like how babies are made. so she kept some baby clothes for her son's child but instead she meets 15yo Grace. & since andrey would rather khs than have to care for a child that did not already raised themself + peter is like. not making any it's a bit complicated now with the. boyfriend. the baby clothes are useless...... so Grace adopts a bunny & the baby clothes go on it. you know what i mean?

dankovsky's mom adores her grandkids. she does. she always wanted grandkids & when her son came out as Not Doable Sorry she was like "but you can still adopt... right? 🥺 you'll adopt..." so when he comes home with his man and 2 kids gotten for free in the boyfriend package she is so happy. she adores murky because with her dark hair and thick brows she looks just like dankovsky and mom's like omg... it's like she's really your own 👀 and he has to be like YEAH BUT SHE'S NOT. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY HAND IN THE MAKING OF HER. etc... mama dankovskaya wants to take her granddaughter in her arms soooo much but murky doesn't like being touched by strangers too much so dankovsky has to like. brief his mom on how to interact with his autistic daughter. beautiful family.

the only way they'd meet (if. well. if bozhena was alive #ripqueen) is following their sons meeting & hanging out so. yeva is pretty sociable & good cook & bozhena pretty shy and not that great at not fucking up food so i think By Default yeva would try to invite her for a tea or a snack please oh pleeeease mrs burakh have some honey cakes. i think at first yeva would get along with her, and enjoy the company, but bozhena would be a little bit more reserved / shoy... but they'd warm up to each other quickly. they're both Deeply Momma of Son (in the same way mostly dankovsky is a Momma's Boy. ykwim? Dankovsky is an only child & i think in this hypothetical situation Burakh is too, like his dead brother Ersher is still dead) so they bond over how nice their scrunkly is. they kinda throw their son's qualities to the other almost as like. test to get more information on the other's kid to see if they're a find match for their own.

also i think Bozhena laaahves to dance & Yeva loves to play her cello + can't dance because of her bad legs so if left to their own devices they'll just put up a party together. maybe they'd need to be a little pompette but i know the dankovsky household as some armenian brandy in the cupboards.
