so i have just now learned that the English and Japanese versions of Twilight Princess, in the Hidden Village cat-finding minigame, only give you a generic "you found me!" message and a counter when you talk to the cats

this is NOT the case in the Spanish (and French) versions of the game (AFAIK! maybe others have it. i could imagine Italian doing it too). in those, most cats have unique names, and feature personalized messages about how much fun they're having playing the game with you

I'll only cover the Spanish ones in this post. if you wanna see the French ones, you should check PikZel's thread over on Twitter/X!

you'll see a lot of miaus (Spanish for Meow) and -ifú/-fú (common suffixes for cat names) in the names! they all give their little message followed by "¡# gato(s), miau!" ("# cat(s), meow!"), and if you talk to them again they say "¡Ya has hablado conmigo, mirrimiau!" ("You've already talked to me, mrrmeow!")

I'll try to translate the puns as best as possible 🫡

"This is so cool! I'm Manolifú!" (Manolo (name/nickname for Manuel) + -ifú)

"This rules! My friends call me Michel!" (could also be Michelle, so either fem or masc leaning. also Mewchel/Miauchel maybe?)

¡Qué miauy! ¡Me caes requetemiau! Soy Isabel, y me encanta el atún.

"So ameowzing! I like you a meowt! I'm Isabel, and I love tuna!" (meowt → meow + lot. just in case lol)

¡Cómo mola! ¡Eres un tipo muy molón! ¡Yo soy Fridavid!

"This rules! You're a really cool guy! I'm Fridavid!" (this seems to be mixing Frida + David into one name. gender icon)

¡Konnichi miau! ¡Yo ser Miaumoto!

"Konnichimeow! I be Meowmoto!" (Meow + Miyamoto, in broken Spanish)

¡Cómo mola! A mí me llaman Amalia. ¡A que mi pelambre es elegante!

"This rules! They call me Amalia. Isn't my fur divine?" (come onn, Amiaulia??)

"I'm Marco! This is a lot of fun!" ("diver" in this case being a shortening of the Spanish for fun, "divertido")

Theory: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are going to be set in a region based on either Spain or Latin America

First of all, take a look at the architecture of the areas. This is pretty reminiscent of Spanish colonial architecture

(Pls correct me if the images of this architectural style are inaccurate! I'm not an architecture expert and I'm just using Google Images)

This isn't meant to be an exact side by side comparison of course, just to show off the similarities. Note the arches and bright colors!

Plus, some parts of the starters' names are derived from Spanish words!

Sprigatito's name contains "gatito," which is Spanish for "little cat" or "kitten." This word is made from the word "gato" (meaning "cat") and the suffix "-ito" (meaning "little")

Fuecoco's name is probably derived from "fuego," meaning "fire." It is possibly also taken from the word "coco" ("coconut"), which may be why Fuecoco is such a cute round thing! (Yes, this means that Fuecoco's name may roughly translate to "fire coconut")

I'm not fluent enough in Spanish to know for certain whether Quaxly's name is derived from any Spanish words or anything; afaik it's not but I could be wrong

Also ik absolutely nothing about fashion lol, so while it is highly likely that the MC's clothes are based on Spanish fashion, I can't point out details or anything definitive

So that's why I think this game is going to be set in a Spain or Latin America region, or some similar location! Feel free to add on anything else in the notes if you notice anything

Tbh as someone with Hispanic ancestry who wants to reconnect to those roots, it makes me rly excited to know that the new Pokémon game may be taking place in an inspired location!

You could hear Nevada coming up the stairs from the club downstairs. You quickly shut the bathroom door of the office, hoping he wouldn’t hear. He did. He sauntered over and rapped on the door.

“Mi reina, open this door,” He commanded. “Right now,”

“Vada do you really need to ruin the magic of our relationship by watching me take a shit?” You called back.

“Don’t give me that, I saw you scurrying around up here and bolt in there when you heard me coming upstairs,” He crossed his arms. “You’re always a step behind me, remember that mami,”

“But I--” You tried to come up with an excuse, but he was having none of it.

“Is there another man in there? Because I swear to God, Y/N I will break down this god damn door and rip the cajones right off that pendejo!” His voice was beginning to raise, his temper quickly unraveling.

“Well...yes and no,” You said meekly, making his face turn from anger to confusion.

“Yes and no?” He repeated. “Dammit Y/N open this fucking door and show me the fucking coward in there with you!”

“Alright, fine. But don’t freak out,” Those words were not calming him down.

“Don’t freak out? Don’t freak--” Nevada began to go off on you in spanish expletives before he saw you open the door holding a black kitten.

“What in the….” Nevada just blinked at the kitten, who did the same in return. “This is your ‘other man’?”

“Well, I think it's a ‘him’ anyway,” You smiled as you stroked the back of the kitten’s head gently. “I found him out in the alley when I took out the trash earlier,”

“Well first of all,” Nevada regained his macho stance. “Your dedos should never be touching basura. I have men for that,”

“Vada I think I can--” You rolled your eyes and tried to protest that just because you were his ‘Queen’, didn’t mean you were an invalid.

“And second of all,” He cut you off. “You just decided to bring a gato sucio into my office? That thing could have all kinds of fucking diseases,”

“Hey, don’t talk that way about Fernando,” You hit him while holding the kitten close as if he could hear Nevada insulting him.

“Fernando?” Nevada raised an eyebrow before glancing at his two cholo guardians and lowering his voice. “You gave that thing my middle name?!”

“Relajarse, mi vida,” You cooed as you ran a finger down the side of his cheek. “How many people know that?”

“Alive? Just you, mami,” He smirked, causing a little fire in your abdomen. You loved it when Nevada was just a tad dark.

“Fernando, eh?” Nevada took the little black kitten from you and held it between his long digits. “Well, I suppose we could keep him,”

“Really, baby?” You asked with a huge smile.

“As long as you keep him out of my things,” He couldn’t help but smile at the kitten.

He had a cat when he was a child, he loved that thing until he could love it no more. He was a wreck when they finally had to put poor “Senor Floof” down. But no one needed to know that.

“As you wish, mi amor,” You smiled and kissed him softly while Fernando mewed softly between the two of you.

Who knew big bad Vada had such a soft side?
