Happy Birthday Hiccup Horrendous Hadock the Third!
I've never really had a chance to celebrate this little guy's birthday, so I went ALL out! (Are you kidding me? 10 year anniversary year of How to Train Your Dragon 2, year of the dragon, AND a leap year?? There was no way I was missing it.)
So, as a little gift I made two things for him! :D
How to Throw a Birthday Party - A short oneshot set after the ending of the final book in the series. (Under the cut or in the link right there. 2,088 words.)
PISTA TOMA - Httyd books meme - I've been wanting to make one of these memes for a while, and I have had no luck in figuring out characters to make it with, so if the above fluff fic didn't suite you, enjoy a little bit of vague angst. ...in animation meme form. (Youtube video below, but if you want to see the scratch version, possibly to remix, the link to that will be in the description.)

Notes: If there are any canon inconsistencies, it’s because I haven’t read one of these books in a little under a year lol.
I did try to write it like it was really a How To Train Your Dragon book though. :3 It’s really fun to try to do haha.
Hiccup yawned and stretched in his bed, feeling the Woodensfang and Toothless' warm wings flicker against his side as the little green dragon grumbled something half asleep about the mean master waking him up. Light gently glowed from the doorway into the main room in the hut, and for a moment Hiccup felt quite like going right back to sleep.
He rolled back into his pillow, planting his face right down in the soft fabric and feathers and hissing out another yawn in a failed effort to suppress it. At his side Toothless also hissed, and as Hiccup did his best to get back to sleep (in his tiredness, he was entirely unaware of how much his movements were disturbing Toothless), the little dragon’s bright green eyes snapped open to stare angrily at the back of Hiccup's head.
“ Mean Hiccup! ” Toothless all but yelled, causing Hiccup to jump up in alarm as if he had been shot, “ T-t-Toothless was JUST getting to bed! ”
Hiccup nearly fell backwards out of the bed as Toothless headbutted him in the shoulder, his little gossamer wings flickering in the dark morning air as wisps of smoke rose from his toothless mouth.
Holding his shoulder, Hiccup regained his balance and began to apologize to Toothless. It seemed that even after achieving relative peace after the Dragon Rebelion, there wasn't much he could do about Toothless' attitude.
Hiccup chuckled and swung his feet over the edge of the bed, fumbling for his helmet (just a regular old Hooligan helmet, that pretentious bloodstained crown would never again touch his fiery hair if he could do anything to help it) before placing the familiar weight on his head.
As Hiccup adjusted the helmet in the reflections on a shield that had apparently been put in his room with him, Toothless flapped up onto his shoulder, seeming to have forgotten all about being tired as the distant scent of breakfast reached his little warty nose.
“ W-w-ill Toothless get some of that fish downstairs? ” Toothless asked, starting directly into Hiccup's eyes even as Hiccup focused on his reflection, “ T-toothless KNOWS there's food downstairs ,” he placed a claw over his heart, “ Toothless can s-s- SMELL it, ”
Hiccup laughed and finished readjusting his helmet. (It was surprisingly difficult to get it to intentionally miss covering his dragon mark.) “ Yes Toothless, ” he said in dragonese, which was the language dragons and hopefully humans spoke to each other in, “ I'm sure you can have the fish, ”
Toothless whooped in joy and jumped into the air, turning a little summersault before landing on Hiccup's helmet. (Which very quickly titled out of the position the boy king had so carefully put it in.) Hiccup sighed and reached up to pet the small dragon. Things had gone back to normal so easily, it was almost as if they had never even changed in the first place.
“ T-toothless is the best lost thing, after all, ” Toothless all but crowed, turning circles on Hiccup's helmet as he headed out of the bedroom and into the main room of the makeshift hut the vikings had set up. (Though he was sure to grab his sword along the way, just in case. Vikings worked fast, as the hut proved, and even if they were in a state of peace, he had no proof they would stay that way for very long, no matter how much he wanted them too.)
“ Yes Toothless, ” Hiccup replied back absentmindedly, skirting around the sleeping forms of his mother and father and past the empty rolls where he knew some other Viking royalty had been put to sleep, “ Yes you were, ”
He hadn't thought about it when he was in his room, but he was pretty sure that Fishlegs and Camicazi had been missing from their own blankets when he had woken up.
Quietly he slid open the front door, careful to shush Toothless until it was closed again in case he started yelling again. (He had seen his mother twist in her sleep when Toothless had last crowed.)
“ Do you think Toothless will get to have c-cod?! ” Toothless asked excitedly, “ T-toothless is in the mood for cod! ”
“ Does it smell like cod? ” Hiccup asked him, reaching up to pick up the little dragon (and also to fix his helmet, again), " If it smells like cod you can probably have cod, ”
"Or tuna," Toothless said thoughtfully, "Toothless ALSO in the mood for tuna..."
It was a shockingly warm day out for the season, but Hiccup still shivered as a chilly ocean breeze flew past him. Toothless didn't seem to mind it so much, but he didn't argue as Hiccup placed him back on the soft fur of the vest over his shoulder.
Hiccup followed the scent as Toothless struggled to place it, though he was also somewhat unsure of what it could be, he was hungry. Maybe it wasn't smart to be walking around camp as a newly crowned King of the Wilderwest all by his lonesome, especially when he was still fairly bruised, but he didn't care. He was hungry, and he was still tired, and maybe he wasn't thinking quite straight.
He turned a corner between the tents, and suddenly the source of the smell was within his reach.
A campfire, with a large pot presumably containing many kinds of fish hung over it, sat at the center of a small clearing in the tents and huts, but that wasn't even why his heart suddenly glowed.
“Fishlegs!” he called, waving to his friend as Toothless crowed and leapt off his shoulder, aiming straight for a pile of delicious fat fish that had not yet been added to the stew, “Camicazi!”
His two friends waved back at him, grinning wide grins, but they weren't the only ones around the campfire.
“We were going to invite your parents,” Camicazi told him, elbowing him in the side good-naturedly, her mood dragon Stormfly winding around her legs like a very long, very purple cat as she wished Hiccup a good morning, “But they were dead asleep and we didn't want to wake them,”
”Hey Hiccup!“ Fishlegs grinned at him, though he looked somewhat ill (which Hiccup guessed probably stemmed from the fact that a very sleepy looking Barbra the Barbarian was sitting and chatting with some of Camicazi's Bog Burglar friends.) ”Good morning for fish, right?“
Hiccup shrugged and smiled. (Though he certainly agreed with Fishlegs, he didn't want to insult the shivering shape of his friend's vegetarian hunting dragon Horrorcow, who had once again found her place as a large lump under Fishlegs’ vest.) ”Good morning to see you guys!“
”Hiccup!“ called a voice that Hiccup recognized as Thuggory the Meathead, ”Are you gonna ask Toothless to wait until everything is done cooking or are we starting right away?!“
Hiccup turned to see the tall Viking Heir struggling with Toothless, who was eating a humongous tuna that Thuggory seemed to have been right about to dump into the stew.
”Oh Toothless!“ Hiccup called, racing over to his snickering friend and taking him (complete with the fish larger than he was) into his arms, ” Don't you want to wait until all the cooking has been done? “ He said, continuing in Dragonese.
Toothless giggled and continued chowing down. Clearly he preferred the taste of nice raw fish. (Hiccup couldn't say he agreed, but he was glad that Toothless seemed to be subdued for a second or two.)
Hiccup placed the tuna and dragon on the floor together, trying to ignore the loud sounds of chewing that floated up from them as he reached out a hand to shake Thuggory's hand. To his surprise, the Meathead heir laughed and drew him into a hug instead.
Hiccup nearly choked as he was lifted into the air, his feet dangling for a couple of seconds as Thuggory greeted him, before he was set back down.
”It's great to see you again Hiccup,“ Thuggory explained, ”Especially after all that cool stuff you did back there,“
”Good to see you again too,“ Hiccup laughed, though he didn't really like the constant references to the battles of the Dragon Rebelion, ”Just doing what a friend of dragons has to do,“
”Hiccup!“ called Camicazi, catching up with him. (Though Fishlegs lagged a few steps behind, not so secretly making eyes at Barbra, who was now hissing at her cat Fearless and showing the Bog Burglars how sharp the claws of the little animal were.) ”Hey!“
Hiccup turned to her, though he was momentarily distracted by the sight of several Hooligan boys sitting together on a large rock. He had missed them more than he had expected in the time he'd been gone, it seemed, because even the sight of Dogsbreath (who was laughing with Clueless about something for a change) put a smile on his face.
“Yeah?” he asked, shooting Speedyfist a smile, “What is it?”
“Aren't you going to ask why we're all here now?!” he asked, putting her hands on her hips and glaring at him. Even though she was a head or so shorter than him, Hiccup thought she could look extremely intimidating if she chose to.
“Um,” Hiccup thought for a second, but, still groggy from sleep, he had nothing. “Breakfast?” He asked, giving her a pained smile as she slapped a hand to her face and sighed. (*”Boys,“*)
”It's for your birthday!“ Fishlegs said, finally stumbling over to the group.
“My what?” Hiccup asked, completely blindsided by that answer. Hadn't his birthday been quite a while back now?
”You only get one once every four years,“ Camicazi pointed out, speaking slowly and patiently as if she really believed he was as stupid as she pretended she thought he was, ”and we felt bad that you missed it, so we wanted to throw a celebration!“
“My- ah!” Hiccup yelped as Toothless' sharp claws dug into his leg, he seemed to have had his fill of the fat tuna, “What- Thank you-“
Thuggory slapped him on the back, laughing again. ”It's what dragon markers do, eh?“
Fishlegs nodded, and even Horrorcow stuck her head out from under his vest for a second to speak. ” I do wish we had considered vegetarians before planning the meal, “ she said politely, ” do you happen to have any carrots? “
Hiccup frowned and stuck his hands into his pocket, he always carried a slice of carrot precisely for this purpose. ” In fact I do Horrorcow! “ He grinned, holding it out to the sad looking hunting dragon, ” enjoy! “
She thanked him and immediately began chomping into the orange vegetable. Hiccup smiled, to his tired mind, the interaction hadn't seemed odd at all, but as Camicazi spluttered into laughter and Fishlegs blinked at him in confusion, Hiccup began to realize that it might have sounded a bit odd to those that didn't understand dragonese.
“I should start teaching you guys dragonese,” he mused, scratching Toothless between his horns as he turned to look at the mess of fish guys he had left on the sandy rocks below them. (And on Hiccup's boots it seemed.)
“You're just not gonna address that?!” Camicazi half shrieked, half laughed, nearly doubled over at the force of her laughter, “You just had a carrot in your pocket? Why?!”
Hiccup brushed a strand or two of hair out of his eye and, in a fake offended voice, told her that he cared about his friends enough to do so if the friend in question called for it.
This caused her to howl with laughter again, and this time Hiccup couldn't help but join in. This all felt strangely comfortable, for some reason. From the small circle of closer friends that were giggling with (and at) him, to the gaggles of Hooligan boys and Bog Burglar girls on opposite sides of the fire, to the random smattering of hunting and riding dragons that had decided to stay with their humans, this felt nice.
“Thank you all,” Hiccup murmured, still scratching a now purring Toothless and Thuggory began to call that the stew was done, “It really means a lot that you would do this for me,”
“ And for m-me! ” Toothless said, yelping happily and jumping into the air as the covering once again came off the large pot, which he seemed to have just realized was the perfect heat for a dragon such as himself, “ T-toothless loves fish baths! ”
And it was all Hiccup could do to warn Thuggory that he was about to half to fish a very happy little dragon out of their food.

Da Big List
Alright, Smiergels, Smörpls, Flubbawabbas and everyone in between, here we go
Non-comprehensive bullet point list of things I want H🐸 to include incoming (for now without context)
Neurodivergence assigned at Me, gonna look to fandom a lot for this one too
Hiccup on the Spectrum
Astrid beefy, Astrid eventually Chief by Hiccup inventing democracy lol
Polycules
Light Fury is the semi-aquatic, cave-dwelling fury we all know she is, reclassed to tidal class with some funky little extra bits and bobs I'm excited about
Light Fury actually gets to have a personality! Based on the few moments in the movie where she gets to be more than just the concept of nature and beauty plus some personal takes and cute quirks
Dynamic between Toothless and the Light Fury actually fleshed out, dragon slow burn lol
Toothless protects Hiccup at all cost, even if the one attacking Hiccup is the Light Fury. They're best friends.
There's more night furies! They're a major plotpoint when Grimmel returns
Yes, Grimmel returns, we're switching around some movie stuff. First we do Grimmel being a threat, then comes Drago, then in the final parts we have Grimmel again but worse. Drago comes after OG-ish Grimmel due to being way more scary/resourceful and after that and RttE we have Grimmel come back for a second attempt, this time a lot scarier and with a lot more bad stuff to actually pose a threat
They. Do not. Separate. They are best friends.
In that same vein we're gonna change up a lot of the messages from the third movie to be a lot more positive and hopeful and encouraging
OCs! Some more peeps riding cool af non Standard dragons like a Changewing or a Snafflefang, if you feel throwing some at me please go right ahead!
Self Indulgence. A lot. Brain needs little snackies to keep being interested and I'm an RPer at heart so we're gonna have an oc who gets a bit more script time, they're gonna mirror hiccup's dynamic with toothless with the light fury, but the other way around. Gonna have a lot of fun playing around with a dragon that doesn't trust vikings and a viking that doesn't trust dragons having to build a bond
That's all from the top of my head, also I should really go to sleep

how to train your dragon: how you met your dragon
Tumblr media
Skrill-
Why did you do this? Are you insane? Just because you really want to train a dragon doesn't mean you let yourself be captured by Berserkers! You idiot! Well, to be fair, you did fly on one - for about a few minutes - then you fell and the Gronckle left you on the spooky island. And why you may ask? Because you didn't create a bond with it! And it was scared! It was a Gronckle! As you were pacing in your cell and waiting for Daggur to show up, a man suddenly broke into the hall. "We need you two outside! Some Whispering Deaths escaped!" And just like that, your guards disappeared.  Well, now you can escape - you only need to figure out how. You looked at the bars, trying to find a weak spot or something, but you didn't find anything. Ugh, if only you had a key!  You defeatedly sat down next to the bars, resting your back against the cold rocky wall. Are you going to die? Are you about to be slaughtered? Pf, you went to find a dragon and now you are going to be its food! This is surely your lucky day. You were just about to rest your head against the bars when you realized, that uncomfortable rocky wall wasn't upright. A little bit of the lower part was missing, making a distance between the wall and one of the metal bars big enough for you to crawl through. That's it! You can escape! You took your chance and began to run. You didn't remember where was the exit, so you just carefully followed your instincts. The very first thirty seconds went great, but then one guard spotted you. Oh no! You ran in a different direction and hide in a room. It was a really weird room, really. There were keys everywhere! Fortunately, the guard didn't think about checking the room, so you were safe... for now.
You looked around, admiring the key room. Well, it saved your life, after all. And apparently, it really liked you, because you spotted another door! You opened it and found dragon cages! There were no guards - they were probably still fighting Whispering Deaths - but there were lots of other dragons. Few Monstrous Nightmares, Deadly Nadders, Gronckles, and at the very back of the room a Skrill. Yes. A Skrill! And not just any Skrill. It was the one that met Hiccup and Toothless. You were in shock at seeing it. Didn't Hiccup set it free? Why is it here? The Skrill is intelligent enough not to be caught! You curiously went to its cage and found out the Skrill was kept in a little pool of water, so it couldn't shoot the lightning. "You poor thing," you said, but the Skrill growled. He looked frightened and hide in the corner, so the only thing you could see were spikes on his head and dark purple color. You badly wanted to touch it, but you knew that it would hurt you. "I will get you out of there!" You run back to the key room and checked all the keys. All of them were marked - and one of them had Skrill word written all over it. "Yes!" you said to yourself. But that was when the guard finally found you. "There you are!" he hissed and went after you. You reacted quickly and run towards the Skrill. He wasn't happy to see you, but when you tried to open his cage, he came out of the darkness and exposed his teeth.  "It's okay. I want to help you," you whispered, but that was the time when the guard caught you. "No!" you yelled and tried to fight back but it was no use. The guard was stronger. You looked back at Skrill, finding him looking back. He wasn't exposing his sharp teeth anymore. He looked as if he was thinking. 'Well, hopefully, he is intelligent enough to see, that I am not his enemy,' you thought. 'Or else, I'll be dead.'  Just as the guard finally realized you're not fighting anymore, he loosed his grip. But that was a bad move for him because you easily slipped out. "Hey!" he roared surprised. But it was too late. You opened the Skrill's cage. You didn't know if you should have been scared or happy, but either way, it was your only chance. He was your only chance.
And he knew that!
That's why he quickly flew out of his pen, taking you by his strong legs, and passed the frightened guard. You just hang there, shielding your eyes from the wind and waiting for the Skrill to find the exit.
Now and there he shot the lightning, but it didn't scare you. You somehow started to trust him. Well, you saved him and now he is saving you - and that's enough to begin to bond with a dragon, right?
After he found his way out of the Berserkers' island, he landed on some rock. "Thank you," you said. He just purred, placing his body right in front of you, watching your every move.
You looked away. "It may sound crazy, but even though people are more afraid of you than of the Night Fury, I don't. I trust you." You reached out your hand towards him, focusing your eyes on the ground. "Do you?"
The Skrill placed his nose against your palm and you smiled.
"Now, what should we call you?" The Skrill looked at you with his big eyes, understanding your every word. Just as you were thinking, he shot his lightning towards the clouds. "Hm, Bolt?"
He didn't complain, so you smiled and scratched his scaly skin. "Bolt it is then. How about I introduced you to my family and feed you some fish?"
As much as Bolt enjoyed the scratching, he licked his mouth and lowered his body, so you could hop on. This was the start of your relationship.
Tumblr media
Hideous zippleback-
It was late in the morning and you were just leaving your house. You had a great dream and you were well fed. 'Well, this is going to be a really good day,' you thought. You headed towards the woods and soon found a little cave. It was small as your bedroom and it had this really big opening that kind of looked like a large window.  "Hello," you greeted your two friends, Odias and Hanka. "Here is our sleeper!" said Odias amused, while he was drawing something on the paper. "Why do you always sleep so long? It's almost lunch!" "Gotta get my beauty sleep." You sat down next to Hanka and asked: "What have you guys been doing?" "Playing with Bea," she simply answered and took the little Terrible Terror from the ground. "She is so lovable, isn't she?" You looked at Hanka's bright red dragon and scratch it under the chin. "Yeah, yeah," you agreed, but you haven't sound as enthusiastically as she.  "Why don't you get your own little dragon?" She asked you and smiled at the thought.  "Err, but it's just a Terrible Terror. What's the point of having a dragon, if you can't ride it?" Suddenly, Hanka became angry. She couldn't believe what you just said! She felt insulted. "What's the point of having a dragon, if you're not brave enough to get one!" "What did you just said?!" You two stood up and faced each other. "I am brave!" It was normal for you to have a fight with Hanka. I mean, she has been your close friend since kindergarten and arguing with her was quite normal. "Then prove it!" "Fine!" And without another word, you left the cave. You needed to chill out. The forest was warm at this time of the year so you decided to take a short walk. "Not brave enough," you mumbled under your breath. "I'll show her." After like ten minutes, you found two Terrible Terrors playing with each other. You sat down next to them and they curiously came closer. You scratched one Terror's head and it purred. "You dragons are soo easy to get." You picked one up. "Come on. Let's get you to Hanka." Terrors still thought you are playing so they didn't mind going with you. They looked really happy, but you were so annoyed, you almost didn't see a movement from behind the bush. "Who is there?" you asked out loud while placing the Terror back on the ground. "Hanka?" Is she stalking you? Or is just someone pranking you? "Show yourself!"  The creature came from behind the bush and your eyes opened wide. It was a goldish green Hideous Zippleback with red spikes. Its heads were calmly looking from you to Terrible Terrors. The Hideous Zippleback probably sensed you were a friend to dragons and that's why it came from its hiding place. "Well, you will help me with my 'Hanka problem' just fine," you smiled, forgetting all about two Terrible Terrors. You reached your hand and touched one head. "But maybe I should name you first." You touched another head and scratched it. The Hideous Zippleback liked it and fought for your attention. It was amazing how one dragon can have two personalities.  "How about Vengeance and Revenge? I think it'll suit your next task."  *** "Where are you?!" yelled Hanka. "Look, I am sorry. I shouldn't have said you're not brave!" "Yes!" agreed Odias, yelling as well. "She is an idiot! Now don't be angry! Show up!" They have been searching for you in the forest for the last ten minutes and your amusement just grew. You have been looking at them from the sky (of course, you have been riding Vengeance and Revenge as low as possible for your friends not to see). "Show yourself! Please!" While Hanka yelled, Vengeance quickly showed Odias from the ground and put him onto his neck. He looked shocked but after he saw you, he grew mischievous as well. "Odias! Where are you?!" Vengeance and Revenge hid themselves in the bush and when Hanka turned around they roared.  "W-who is it?" She held her Terrible Terror so tight you had to cover your mouth not to laugh. "Now," you whispered to your new dragon and it jumped from behind the bush. Hanka fell on the ground looking pale as the moon and breathing heavily. You and
Odias burst in laughter, jumping from the dragon. "Got you!" "What?" asked Hanka. "That's my new dragon. Vengeance and Revenge," you said casually. "Still think I am not brave enough?" Hanka stood up - but she didn't look angry nor pale. She just looked sorry. "Ok. I am sorry. You got me." You two smiled. "But seriously, you've got yourself a dragon and named him Vengeance and Revenge just to show me up?!" "Yep." "Well, I should've known." "Wanna ride?"

(had to put that gif there lol)
Razorwhip-
It was that time of the year when Gothi gave you a list of ingredients you needed to find on the Healer's island. You really liked doing it. You had a free day for yourself just collecting flowers and stuff. Who wouldn't want that, really? Every time, you pick some random Gronckle to give you a ride, so you don't have to get to that island on the boat. You really liked Gronckles, but they weren't your type of a dragon. You wanted a strong and fast one. But there wasn't enough time to find you your own dragon, so you just used Gronckles when they were needed.  It was a really great day. Sun was shining, birds were singing and your basket was slowly being filled. At the time you were heading towards the rare yellow flower, you heard a loud sound - as if someone was smashing a piece of metal against another piece of metal. It was weird. As you were wondering what could be possibly making that sound you saw it. A female Razorwhip. From what you could see, it accidentally got its long neck in the rope that was hanging from the tree and when it was trying to broke free, it sliced the tree in half and as the tree fell on top of the dragon, it knocked off one big stone from the rock wall and that stone fell on the dragon's wing, trapping it completely. "Oh my gods!" you exclaimed looking at this mess. You immediately dropped the basket for Gothi and made your way towards the poor Razorwhip. Your steps were slow, but that didn't stop the dragon from being scared. It raised its tail and shot the spines but because of the fallen tree, it was unsuccessful. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you!" You made your way back towards your basket and found a dragon nip you store there for Gronckles. You picked it up and made your way back to the Razorwhip. You didn't get too close, of course, just enough for the dragon to smell the dragon nip. When you saw that the dragon relaxed, you decided to come even closer. And fortunately, the Razorwhip let you. You let her smell the green plant some more, but then you let it fell to the ground so you'd get the dragon's full attention. It was a girl - cause it had really long eyelashes - and her eyes were, unlike Windshears, red. But not bloody red, more like strawberry kind of red.  "Now let me help you," you said while reaching your hand. Razorwhip had to be really intelligent because it pressed its scaly head against your palm, letting you touch it. She probably knew you were her only chance now. After you caressed her smooth metallic grey scales on the head you took insight into her full appearance. Well, you definitely needed some help with that stone on her wing and also with that entire tree, but the loop on her neck could be removed easily straight away. "Now I will take my knife and cut that rope off your neck, okay?" you informed her. "Please don't freak out, I won't hurt you with that knife."
Razorwhip purred, so you carefully took out the knife from your pocket and did as you said. The dragon didn't even flinch. "You're a brave girl, you know?" you said happily because it went so easy. "How about I call you Fearless?" She looked happy since her neck wasn't in the loop anymore so you could tell, she was content. "Now how do I take care of this?" You made your way towards the stone and then the idea hit you. "Wait here I'll get some help!" Fearless roared for you, but you ran away. Soon, you came back - but on a happy green Gronckle. "We'll get that stone away, okay Fearless?" you asked and fly towards it. "Don't worry, it will be over soon!"Gronckle's strong legs lifted that rock up and placed it on the grass. Then you made Gronckle do the same with the tree. It was tough at first, but with Fearless's help, you actually managed to break her free. "That's it!" you yelled happily and quickly made Gronckle land on the ground, so you could hug Fearless. "I told you I'd help you. Is your wing alright?" She raised both of her wings straight up to the air, showing you her strength. You laughed and waved at the leaving Gronckle. "Now, do you want to help me found a yellow flower? After that, we'll get you some sea slugs and you could come home with me back to Berk!" You were really excited about creating a bond with her! But so was she.

Watching The Nine Realms episode 6
-Okay, the last one. All the kids have their dragons, so we’ll get to see what happened to Thunder’s family and what’s the main danger.
-Oh, they have other outfits.
-Of course Tom-ton sleeps in his underwear.
-Papa Skull?!
-She’s the villain, isn’t it?
-Haven’t they had earthquakes before? Seems like an odd place to do any construction.
-Into the Hidden World? Did they mentioned it earlier by name?
-You’ve spent just a week or two with them, guys!
-“Just for a little while” This is just like that episode of Riders when they had to leave them in the Dragon Island.
-Not feeling that.
-Is nobody seeing that?!
-A dragon is making the earthquakes? Like a Whispering Death?
-Doesn’t look like one,
-This is a hodge-podge of Riders of Berk.
-Alex is “the girl in the chair”.
-How much money did that cost? And they leave it unattended?
-Oh, hello, bland-looking dragon from any other fantasy world.
-Don’t they have cameras down there?
-Don’t they have cameras up there?
-Hammer-ex-machina.
-But that’s a tiny, sad hammer.
-DA?!
-Where are your companions?
-How much time has passed?
-Oh, you call those little two caves the “Hidden World” ?
-“Tom, look out, a dragon that doesn’t look like it belongs to this world!”
-Is nobody seeing that?!
-Yeah, I don’t care.
-“Sorry we’re late. We were waiting to do quite an entrance”.
-Is this a boss fight?
-Oh, sure, faint after seeing your son flying.
-At least its attack is cool.
-You know you didn’t have to do that alone, do you?
-Oh, now they appear.
-Yes, dragons have limited shots, but you should know that by now.
-Feathers saves the day!
-Well, she helped.
-She’s like a banshee, huh?
-She’s my fav.
-LOL, it took them with its paw.
-Are you trying to do the thing from the first movie?
-Still don’t like you, Tom-ton.
-You’re not Astrid, Jun.
-You’re not Hiccstrid.
-She’s groggy but no doctor comes to check her.
-“Protectors of dragons AND humans?” Shut up, Jun.
-How the heck did Thunder do that?
Overall:
-I don’t like Tom, nor Thunder nor Jun nor her two-headed Chinese thing. They’re bland, boring and have no personality. As a writer, I would have went ahead and put Alex or D’Angelo as main characters. Tom needs to be likeable, relatable. Let him not try to look cool all the time. Also, I would have written Jun as way more spiritual. Let the girl study the planets and do charts and help her friends according to their horoscopes. For Thunder, he’s trying too hard to be Toothless as Tom is trying to be Hiccup. Let him be like one of the Night Lights instead. And for the Chinese dragon... it needs a whole redesign (Thunder too, but only minimal changes).
-D’Angelo is so interesting and shows more emotion in five seconds than Tom in five episodes. His dragon is cool and he seems to have a great family. Alex is great too. She’s so relatable and I’d like to see how she grows into a stronger character but always being her quirky self. Her dragon has the best design and her moms sure need more screen time.
-They tried to be their own thing but started depending too much on the nostalgia. We don’t need another Hiccup. We don’t need another Toothless or Hiccstrid. Explore new ideas, new characters, new worlds.
-The animation could be a tad better, but you get used to it. I’d have liked to see even more characters in the background and new spaces.
-It’s not bad but it’s not that good. I’ll wait until the trailer of the next season to decide if I’ll keep on watching or just be like an “outside fan”, spoiling myself as I did with some other series that didn’t manage to get me invested.

“It’s okay if you’re scared of dying. Your friends were too.” Krogan’s voice was soft, as if it was supposed to soothe Hiccup, but his words struck him through with both terror and anger and shock. His friends? Dead?! No, no! They couldn’t be! They couldn’t be!
“You’re lying.” Hiccup’s voice shook. He’d been stuck in this cage for about a week now, and he hadn’t seen any of his friends in this cave system that he appeared to be in. That didn’t mean that they were dead though, did it? Krogan must be lying to him.
Krogan shook his head, laughed a little. He had his halberd resting against Hiccup’s cage.
“I’m not lying, Hiccup. Your friends are dead, and you will be next.”
Hiccup screamed in rage. He stood, hit his bound hands against the bars of the cage. That hurt, but he didn’t care. No, no! This couldn’t be the truth!
Krogan just laughed at him. He picked up his halberd and left. Hiccup was alone in the room. He screamed again, hit his hands against the bars even harder, jarring pain through his hands and up into his arms. He looked at his hands, saw blood on them, but that didn’t matter. He had to get out, had to save his friends, had to prove Krogan wrong.
He sat back down, breathing hard. There were tears in his eyes. His friends weren’t dead. They couldn’t be. They just couldn’t be.
---
Another week passed. Hiccup didn’t see his friends for that time, and he was starting to believe Krogan’s words. The man tortured him in that time. Not for information. Just for fun, it seemed. He promised that he would kill him, but so far he’d made no move to do so.
And yes, Hiccup was afraid of dying. Why wouldn’t he be? What was there on the other side? Wouldn’t it hurt? What was he leaving behind? All of these questions made his head and chest ache, even while the rest of him burned with the cutting of a knife.
Would he be leaving his friends behind if he died? Or would he be seeing them again? Where was Toothless? Gods, was he dead too? Was everyone dead but him?
Those thoughts almost broke Hiccup, but he had to stay strong, had to find a way out. He had to rescue everyone.
Because they couldn’t be dead.
Hiccup cried every night. He was hurting badly, inside and out. The thought of his friends being dead tormented him worse than Krogan’s knives and chains and whips. He lay in his cage, wanting to scream, but feeling too weak to.
Dead, dead, dead. They can’t be, they can’t be.
But Hiccup had not seen or heard any sign of them since their capture. The only news he’d gotten of them had been that they’d died, just like he was going to.
So, Hiccup cried. He cried hard, making his body hurt even more than it already did.
His friends were dead. And he was going to join them. He didn’t know if that thought gave him solace or fear.
---
“Hiccup? Hiccup!” The familiar voice pulled Hiccup from his sleep. He blinked in confusion. For a moment, he’d thought he’d heard Astrid. But no, that couldn’t be right. She was dead, along with everyone else. He closed his eyes and decided he would try to go back to sleep. He must have been dreaming.
The cage opening, footsteps coming in. Those were familiar too, but they weren’t Krogan’s. Whose was it? Was he still dreaming? He had to be, because Astrid was dead.
“Hiccup, wake up.” A gentle hand on his shoulder. Hiccup opened his eyes into dim light. He rolled over, looked at who had woken him.
“Astrid?” He almost wasn’t willing to believe it. Maybe this was just another one of Krogan’s games. Maybe he had drugged him and he was hallucinating, only seeing what he hoped to see.
Astrid put a hand to Hiccup’s face, and he looked past her, saw all his friends standing outside his cage. The dim light was coming from a lantern that Fishlegs held.
“Gods, what has he done to you?” They all looked relatively unharmed. That was good. His hallucination wasn’t making him hurt anymore than he had to. But yes, this did hurt. It hurt because all his friends were dead and he was seeing them anyway.
“You’re not real,” Hiccup told her. It was the drugs in his system. It had to be. He couldn’t remember Krogan drugging him, but that didn’t mean it hadn’t happened. The man wasn’t above drugging people.
Astrid drew back for a moment, looking astonished. “Hiccup, we are. All of us are. We’re here to rescue you.”
“He told me you’re dead. And I haven’t seen you since. So you’re dead.”
Astrid cocked her head. “What? Hiccup, we’re right here!”
Hiccup shook his head. He laid back down, curling into a ball. “You’re dead. You’re all dead.” Tears choked up his throat. “Dead, dead, dead.”
“Hiccup, we’re not. Please, just come with us. We know where the dragons are. We can get out of here.”
“Can we?” Hiccup felt like he would be stuck here forever, or at least until he died too. He didn’t know when Krogan would kill him, when he would be done with his games. Drugging him and making him see his friends was cruel though, the cruelest thing he’d ever done.
“Yes. Come on. Please come with us.”
Hiccup stood shakily, and Astrid helped him. Her touch was actually there, but he still didn’t believe it. He didn’t have any reason to. Then, he left the cage.
---
Hiccup didn’t believe any of this was real until he was touching Toothless. He knew those scales, knew the sounds Toothless was making. This was all real! His friends weren’t dead!
“I believe you,” he said, turning to his friends. They all had their dragons and were about to leave the cave system. “I-I’m sorry.” Hiccup shook his head, trying to clear it. “Krogan told me you were all dead. He’s been playing games with me. I thought I was drugged.”
“You’re not drugged,” Fishlegs said. “We’re real. We’re here.”
Hiccup smiled, tears in his eyes. Though, they were happy tears, the first ones of their kind that he’d cried in a while. Recently, his tears had only been ones of pain.
He laid a hand on Toothless’ head. “Okay, let’s get out of here.”
---
The opposition they faced upon their escape was no match for their dragons, who had had enough of captivity and were ready to get in the air. Now, they were flying towards Dragon’s Edge. It hurt to be sitting on Toothless, but flying still felt good. Hiccup was free. Free. And he had his friends with him. Gods, he’d thought he was never going to see them again. But here they all were, surrounding him on their dragons. It made him feel safe, happy.
No one talked as they flew, knowing that there would be plenty of time to talk when they got back to the Edge. It was still night, and they were all tired.
Upon returning to the Edge, they had Hiccup take his shirt off and lay on one of the tables to be inspected. He was covered in various wounds, some older, some newer. Fishlegs got out the alcohol and the stitches. He didn’t have a very strong stomach, but he was the best healer they had.
“He made you think we were all dead?” Snotlout asked. Hiccup winced as a cloth covered in alcohol was pressed to a wound in his abdomen.
“Yeah,” Hiccup answered. His chest ached thinking of that. He’d spent so much time thinking they were dead. And yet here they were.
“How did you not… break?” Ruffnut asked. For once, she and her brother were being serious.
“I think I did,” Hiccup responded honestly. There was no other explanation for the way he’d lost his will and anger, for the way he’d stopped fighting Krogan. “I believed it for so long, and I never saw any of you.”
“We… we thought you were dead,” Astrid said. She was by Hiccup, holding one of his hands. That helped with the pain he was feeling. There were tears glimmering in her eyes. “He told us he’d killed you, that you’d begged him for death in the end.”
That made Hiccup’s chest ache. So his friends had thought he was dead all this time.
“But you still came looking for me.”
Tuffnut nodded. “Well, duh. We had to! We didn’t believe him for one second!”
“I’m… I’m sorry I believed him,” Hiccup said. He flinched a little as Fishlegs started with the first stitch, grunted. “He just repeated it, every time he was torturing me. I thought it was true.”
“I’m glad we’re all here together,” Fishlegs said. That made Hiccup smile despite the pain he was in. Yes, he was glad they were all here together too. He wasn’t dead, and neither were his friends. But…
“Are any of you hurt?” Hiccup asked.
“Not really,” Snotlout answered. “He didn’t really touch us. Kept us fed too, actually.”
“Huh.” Hiccup wondered what the point of that had been, wondered what the point of this whole captivity had been. He hadn’t asked him for information, not once, and based on the state of his friends, he hadn’t asked them either.
“What is it?” Astrid asked. “You’ve got your thinking face on.”
“I’m just wondering why he did all this,” Hiccup told them. “He didn’t try to get information out of me.”
“He’s sick,” Astrid said with a shake of her head. “He must have just been playing with us.”
“Yeah. He must have been.” The fact that they’d been made to think they were dead was pointing to that.
But no one was dead. And they were all together. That was all Hiccup could ask for, all he ever needed. He had his friends with him.

I’ll Make A Dragon Rider Out of You
(For the prompt mulan . . . turned out a little differently than I had anticipated, and longer, lol. Oh well. XD)
Merida waited until the castle had been dark for a while and she was sure everyone was sound asleep. She had made up her mind, and she wasn’t going to let anyone stop her. She checked her pack again before pulling the hood over her head and walking towards the door. She waited a few more minutes before quietly opening the door and tiptoed out. She made her way through the castle corridors as quietly as a mouse, no one was about to stop her. She got to the stables and quickly saddled up Angus. She walked him to the gate and opened that as quietly as she could. That took longer since the gate was rather squeaky that evening, but she had managed to get it open enough for her and Angu to squeeze out. She quietly closed the gate before climbing onto Angus and riding off into the night. She had to hurry, the last boat of the year was leaving the following morning. She was going to be on that boat, she had to be on that boat. It was the only way she was getting to Dragon’s Edge Island. She urged Angus to go faster. She was going to make it, she had to.
As the sun peeked over the horizon, Merida could see the docks. She let out a whoop. She was almost there! She was going to make it! She got on the boat with some time to spare, so she fed and watered Angus, petted him down, and got him to sleep before she too collapsed from exhaustion. The trip to Dragon’s Edge took about four days, so Merida got a chance to reminisce. Ever since a couple of Viking tribes opened up to trade with the Scots, they had heard tales of dragon riders and the Dragon Conqueror, a man who conquered dragons through friendship and trust. But with that tale came the underlying notion that Scots could never be dragon riders.. But Merida was determined to be one, and bided her time, preparing herself a false name and Viking apparel. Thus, when they got to Dragon’s Edge, she was no longer Merida Dunbroch, princess of Scotland, she was merely Sigrid, a Viking whose parents migrated to Scotland and they wanted her to become a dragon rider. So here she was, on her way to get trained.
Upon landing, Merida was greeted by a guy. He asked her why she was on Dragon’s Edge, and she gave it.
“A Viking who lived in Scotland, huh? Well Sigrid, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Snotlout. The ladies dorms are that way.” He pointed to a building where several women were standing, chatting away. “If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask.” He gave her an exaggerated bow and a grin.
She raised an eyebrow, was he one of those guys? “Uh, thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.”
“And I’ll keep you in mind.” He gave her a wink and a suave smile. Merida groaned and rolled her eyes as she walked away. Yup, one of those guys. Merida made a mental note to avoid him as much as possible. But one good thing did come from their meeting, her story would be accepted. She got to the dorms and got herself a bed, meeting a few of the women on the way. One woman, apparently the one in charge of the entire dorm for the women, explained the rules for the dorms and the schedule they needed to keep to. Merida spoke more with her, she had introduced herself as Astrid, and found that she liked her the more they talked. She also found out that the first day of classes was the next day, so she had a bit of time to relax from her trip.
Merida joined dozens of people in a small, grassy encirclement the next day after breakfast. Everyone was chatting with excitement about learning about dragons and eventually getting their own dragon.
“Hello students!”
“Hello Hiccup!”
Merida bit her tongue to keep from laughing as she turned to face the teacher. Her mouth dropped slightly. Astrid and Snotlout flanked a tall guy with auburn hair, green eyes, and a metallic peg leg. For a guy with such an odd name, he was pretty cute. Like, really, really cute. Cuter than her suitors back home. Did he have a girlfriend? A cute guy like that, most likely. She glanced slyly at Astrid, most likely her. Go figure, the one guy Merida might actually like and he was taken, well, most likely. She didn’t know yet if he was, and the slightest hope that he wasn’t was tucked away for the time being. Classes were beginning!
Every day, Hiccup would begin the class with information on dragons, each of the different types, how to approach them, and a few secrets he gleaned from working with his own dragon partner. Then he would follow up with a few practice runs, each person would try to approach a dragon and use the information Hiccup had just provided. Though, there seemed to be an overall problem with this class. Every single time, they’d run away in fear, except for Merida, and though she did try, she didn’t quite succeed with the dragon. Something always happened that either riled up the dragon or distracted it, or, in a couple of cases, the dragon was too sick to even bother doing anything.
After about a couple of weeks, Hiccup and his friends sat close to where Merida was eating her lunch. “Of everything that could go wrong, why is it all happening now? We haven’t had this many problems since we’ve started the Dragon Academy!”
Astrid placed her hand on his shoulder. ‘It’s just bad timing, that’s all it is, Hiccup. Everything has its ups and downs.”
“Well, this is one big, long down,” mumbled Hiccup.
“That, or the gods know that something is going to happen and are trying to warn us,” suggested Fishlegs, albeit a bit slowly like it was a silly thought that popped into his head, but one he was inclined to take somewhat seriously.
Hiccup scoffed. “I wished they would just come and tell us outright instead of all this beating around the bush.”
Fishlegs shrugged. “It was just a thought.”
“I know, a good one though,” said Hiccup with a slight smile.
“But now what?” asked Ruffnut. “At the rate we’re going, no one’s going to graduate! Though I suggest at least Sigrid does, she’s at least trying to learn.” Ruffnut pointed at Merida. Merida kept on eating, pretending like she wasn’t paying any attention to the conversation.
Hiccup sighed. “I’ll think about it. We can still question them about what they’ve learned so far.”
“And hope for the best,” said Astrid. Hiccup nodded. They got up and left the table. Later that afternoon, they tried getting the students to interact with a dragon, again. And as before, Merida was the only one willing to approach the dragon. Finally, it worked. Hiccup cheered when Merida was able to put all of the lessons to good use, and even encouraged several of the others students to give it a try as well. From then on out, things got better, and by the end of the month everyone had a dragon. Everyone, that is, except for Merida.
Hiccup took her aside one day, noticing her downcast look when the last of her classmates got a dragon. “Hey, Sigrid, right?”
Merida nodded slowly. “Yes?”
“Hey, um, listen, you’ve been the best student in this class so far.”
She smiled softly. “Thank you.”
“Now, uh, if, if you haven’t found a dragon by the time you leave to go home, well,” he shrugged, “maybe we don’t have your dragon here. Maybe he, or she, is waiting back in Scotland for you.”
Merida pondered it. “That’s an idea, though we haven’t seen many dragons as of late.”
“Maybe that’s about to change.” He shrugged again, and smiled. Merida just about melted, but she managed to pull herself together to smile back at him.
“Yeah, maybe, I certainly hope so.”
“I do too, but there’s only one way to find out, and that’s to get back home. Only one day left.”
Merida’s eyes widened. “Really? It’s . . . all gone by so fast.” She glanced down. “I-I almost don’t want to go.”
Hiccup chuckled. “I’m glad we were able to make this place a home away from home, but we have another class coming in, and it’s time you all went out and started saving dragons yourselves.”
Merida smiled. “Yes, I guess you’re right.”
Hiccup ran his fingers through his hair. “Right, um, see you tomorrow.”
“Yeah, see ya.” Merida watched him walk away, not really ready to reveal the real reason she wanted to stay. She thought she was falling in love with Hiccup Haddock the Third. Even though, if anything, that should have been the reason she wanted to leave, so as not to see the romance blossoming between Hiccup and Astrid.
The next day seemed to fly. Everyone passed with flying colors, literally, as they all carried flags around as they flew their dragons. Merida was allowed to ride on an extra dragon, just so she could participate. But it was over far too soon, and Merida was on her way back to Scotland. Her parents welcomed her back with relief, and she managed to spread the information she had received from Dragon’s Edge. But her mother noticed the faraway look that she correctly deduced was from love, and Merida spilled the whole thing about Hiccup. Elinor comforted her daughter, reminding her that it might not have worked. Hiccup was a Viking after all, and Merida a Scot. The two cultures had never intermarried before, and might not ever. Merida agred, and life in Scotland seemed to go back to normal, minus the learning about dragons and preparations for making dragon friends.
Two months after returning from Dragon’s Edge, Merida found a group of dragons. They were clearly frightened, but Merida won their trust and led them back to Dunbroch castle. The Scots were thrilled that they now had their own dragons and many bonded with the dragons. Merida found herself bonding with a white version of Hiccup’s dragon, Toothless. But the dragon, whom Merida named Morrigan, seemed agitated. Merida decided to find out why, becoming worried that maybe Hiccup and his tribe were in trouble. Her parents suggested that they all go, just in case Merida was right. They could turn the trip into a diplomatic one if nothing was wrong. As such, the Scots were off.
Hiccup and Grimmel faced each other, Hiccup keeping himself between Grimmel and Toothless. Berkians were fighting Grimmel’s men and the Warlords and their men all around the island and on their ships. The Berkians had been trying to find the Hidden World, the mythical home of dragons, and found this island nearby that they decided to turn into their new home. But Grimmel and his allies found them and attacked that morning. The two parties had been fighting nearly all day and were exhausted.
“So, you’ve managed to free the female,” said Grimmel, raising his crossbow. Toothless growled while Hiccup raised his sword. “But once I’ve killed your dragon, I’ll find her again and kill her too. Then the world will really be truly free from Nightfuries!” He looked at Toothless, and back at Hiccup. “After that, then all dragons.”
“As long as there are Berkians, we won’t let that happen,” said Hiccup.
“Well then, I suppose we had better kill off all Berkians as well. After all, it’s not like anyone’s going to miss you.”
“Grimmel!”
Grimmel rolled his eyes at his minion. “What now?”
“Hiccup!”
Hiccup’s eyes widened. He could tell from Eret’s tone of voice that it wasn’t good. “What?”
“Scots!” they shouted at the same time. Grimmel and Hiccup turned towards each other, eyes wide.
“Oh great!” blurted Hiccup, throwing up his hands. “This isn’t the best time!”
“You’re telling me,” muttered Grimmel.
Hiccup glared at him. “What are you talking about? This isn’t the best time to try and build an alliance.”
“O-oh,” said Grimmel, realizing exactly what Hiccup wanted. “So it’s just like the dragons with you, huh? Form an alliance with everything, regardless of whether it makes sense or not.”
“It makes perfect sense!” shouted Hiccup. “The Scots are humans, not dragons! And I’m sure we could reach an agreement!” He growled. “Unlike you.”
“Because I understand that dragons, and Scots, can’t be trusted. Something you clearly don’t get.”
“He’s right, though.” The two turned around, looking for the owner of the voice. Hiccup glanced at Toothless, who was acting pretty happy. Then a figure in a cloak and dress stepped out from behind a tree. Hiccup looked at her quizzically, she seemed familiar. But who was she? “The Scots might be like the dragons, and are interested in an alliance.” Hiccup’s mouth fell a little, he knew that voice! Why couldn’t he put a name and a face to it?
Grimmel scoffed. “And how would you know?” The girl pulled back her hood, revealing a mane of red curls. Hiccup gasped. It was Sigrid!
“Because I am Merida Dunbroch, princess of Scotland!”
Hiccup’s mouth really fell. “You’re-you’re the princess?!! I taught you about dragons!”
Merida smiled. “And I thank you for that. We now have our own little army of dragons.” She whistled, and Toothless really got excited as the Lightfury landed next to Merida.
“You bonded with the Lightfury!” cheered Hiccup. Merida and the Lightfury glanced at each other and smiled.
“I see,” said Grimmel slowly. Merida quickly strung her bow. Hiccup turned and saw that Grimmel had raised his crossbow. He had paused and was looking intently at Merida.
“Another move and I will shoot you,” said Merida firmly. The Lightfury growled at Grimmel. Grimmel glanced at Toothless and slowly aimed his crossbow at him.
“No!” cried out Hiccup as he made a lunge for the crossbow, and missed. Grimmel fired, as did Merida. Merida’s arrow caught the needle midair and snagged it to a tree. Grimmel gasped and looked at her in shock.
“You’ve seen what I can do with a bow and arrow. Do you really want to take us all on?” The Lightfury roared.
“Give it up, Grimmel, apparently there are more people willing to make peace with each other and dragons than you originally thought. And now you’re outnumbered.”
Grimmel growled. “I don’t like unforeseeable changes to my plans.” He glared at Hiccup. “And I aim to finish my job of killing all Nightfuries!”
“And as long as you keep that goal, I will make it my goal to stop you,” said Hiccup firmly.
“And we’ll help,” said Merida.
“So, you’re not going to kill me?”
“No, I still hold on to the hope that you’ll change your mind,” said Hiccup as he sheathed his sword.
“I see, well, that’s too bad, because I won’t.” Grimmel raised the crossbow.
“Hiccup!” Toothless pushed Hiccup to the ground and covered him with his body while Grimmel shot the dart and Merida rapidly shot two arrows. Grimmel let out a yell and fell off the cliff.
“Toothless!” The Lightfury helped Merida roll the Nightfury off Hiccup so he could check on his friend. Toothless licked him. Merida laughed as she plucked the dart off the saddle. Hiccup glanced around. “Where’s Grimmel?”
Merida pointed. The four went to the edge of the cliff and looked down. There was no sign of him, but it had been a long drop and the waves were crashing on the shore below. “He won’t bother you and the dragons anymore.” Hiccup glanced around as the Warlords and their army began pulling away from the island.
“No, but there will be others.” He sighed. “Maybe, maybe it’s best that the dragons stay in the Hidden World, their home, safe from humans like this.”
“And keep them from people like us who would be more than happy to have them as friends?” asked Merida incredulously. She put her bow on her back and took Hiccup’s hands. “Hiccup, you have fought to keep the dragons safe, don’t stop now because of one man. He’s among the few.” She turned and pointed to the Scottish ships. “We came to help, let us help. There might even be others who are willing to help. You haven’t even met everyone in the world. You can’t say for certain if everyone will be cruel to dragons. Taking care of dragons is a big responsibility, it shouldn’t be on your shoulders alone, or the shoulders of your people.” She smiled at him.
Hiccup smiled back. “You have a good point, and you’re very persuasive. I’ll consider it.” He bowed. “And it’s nice to meet the real you, your Highness.”
Merida chuckled as she curtsied. “It’s nice to formally meet you, but youve known the real me the whole time. I just didn’t tell you that I was a princess, that’s all.”
Hiccup chuckled. “Well, I’m glad I know now. And thank you for saving us, for having our backs, even though we didn’t ask for it.”
“I’m in training to be a queen, I know a good ally when I see one.” She grinned. Hiccup’s heart fluttered, and did a complete flip. “Shall we head back down? The Scots won’t kill your people, but in their celebrations, well . . .”
Hiccup chuckled. “They like to get a little rowdy?”
Merida scoffed. “More like downright rambunctious. And my brothers like to start things.”
Hiccup laughed. “Then yeah, we’d better get down there. But first . . .” He grabbed her and pulled her in for a kiss. “I-I’m sorry, but I’ve been wanting to do that ever since you left,” he said softly.
“So have I,” said Merida before she kissed him. The two Furies cooed at the sight before they snuggled together.

I was watching the Buffalord Soldier (rtte s3 e5) and I couldn’t help but not write this so here’s a one shot that no one asked for but I wrote it anyways lol.
For Granted
Had it all been a dream? It seemed so surreal. The heat that radiated throughout her seizing body. The raspy coughs that took control over her aching lungs. The sleepless nights of tossing and turning, fighting persistently to not let unconsciousness overtake her. The cold stingy feeling of her freezing fingers when she tried to hug herself for warmth. Her eyes always remained shut tight, as if it were like little weights forcing them shut and keeping her away from the outside world. She felt like she was slowly getting eaten away. It was torture.
But also, she remembered him. When he would gently reassure her she'd be okay with his gentle voice. The safe feeling she would feel when he'd gather her limp form into his arms, and hold her tight against his chest. His soft yet strong heart beat she would hear, was the only thing continuing to help her fight for her life. Her heart fluttered through the pain when she felt his rough gentle hand take her clammy pale one, and squeeze it tight in hope she would stay alive for him. And she did.
But the thing that still haunted her for the past two days the most, was coming so close in contact with death. No one would ever be prepared for it, or when it would strike. And that's what scared her the most. She was so close, yet was fortunate enough that he saved her. He gave up one of the last known Buffalord's, to save her. They were dragon riders. It was their goal to keep the dragons safe and away from hunters. Yet he still chose to save her.
Astrid stared up at the ceiling blankly. Thoughts continued to swarm through her head, and there was no way she'd be getting any sleep tonight. Again. She rolled onto her side, making the bed creak a little. Stormfly was huddled around her bed protectively, snoozing away. Ever since Astrid got sick, her dragon formed a new sense of protectiveness towards her rider, always being extra close to her. Astrid smiled and gently stroked her hand against Stormfly's rough scales. Stormfly stirred a bit, but remained asleep.
Astrid sat up as quietly as she could, and ever so slightly tip toed out of bed removing one of the furs as she got up. She snuck around her dragon carefully and swiftly made her way down the stairs. She glanced back upstairs quickly just to make sure her dragon was still asleep, and lifted her retractable door just enough so she could crawl through without making too much noise.
She finally managed to scramble out of her hut, and stood up with a long sigh and stared longingly up at the full moon. It was a quiet night with a gentle breeze that spoke a thousand words. She made her way through the Edge, the only thing lighting her way being the full moon and a few torches that were still lit. She briefly glanced over at Hiccup's hut with consolation, but continued her midnight stroll as she didn't want to wake him.
The rhythm of her feet tapping on the wooden platform, finally died down as her boots sank into the damp grass. The wind gently rustled through the trees as she made her way through the forest to her favorite spot on a nearby cliff, overlooking the ocean. The way the moon reflected off of the black ocean just gave her a sense of peace when she couldn't sleep at night.
She finally made it out of the forest and sighed contently when the cliff came into view. So isolated, so serene, so peaceful. She walked through the damp grass, and looked up at the stars with wonder in her eyes. It was crazy to think that the last time she had come here, she never would have thought that a deadly sickness would consume her. A sense of gratitude came over her as she realized how lucky she was to even be standing where she was.
She stood at the edge of the cliff, blue eyes panning out across the sea. She breathed in a gust of fresh air, smiling faintly when it rushed through her lungs. The thought of Hiccup crossed her mind again. Sure, he had saved her plenty of times before, but this time was different. The way he treated her seemed far beyond how he did when they were younger. Of course, if any of the riders had gotten sick he would've saved them too, but it just felt different this time. He held her closely, he'd grab her hand and hold it tight, he'd gently soothe her with his calm voice. It made Astrid's heart race just thinking about it. Could he possibly see her as more than just a friend? It sure seemed liked it. And she sure hoped so.
"Can't sleep either huh?" A familiar voice asked, as she whipped her head around in surprise. Her widened eyes met with a pair of Emerald green eyes that sparkled in the night, and her heart rate immediately died down when she realized it was Hiccup.
"Don't scare me like that again." Astrid chuckled half heartedly, giving him a little punch in the shoulder. Hiccup recoiled back with a little sympathetic smile, rubbing his shoulder tenderly. "Sorry. I couldn't sleep either, and saw you walk out of your hut and decided to follow you." He said as he joined her at the edge of the cliff, both now looking out at the sea.
"Oh so now you're following me everywhere?" She teased as she gently nudged him with her shoulder. Hiccup scratched the back of his neck with a playful roll of his eyes. "You just happened to be passing my hut. And I noticed there was some hesitation you had, hm?” He said with that taunting look in his eyes. Astrid shook her head with an amused smile down towards the ground.
Her smile disappeared though as the waves continued to lap up against the cliff below, and she stared blankly out towards sea. Hiccup pursed his lips with concern, then he looked down at his feet, thinking twice before he said his next words.
"It was scary you know."
Astrid turned her head towards him, but he didn't make eye contact with her. "What was?" She asked as he let out a shaky breath.
"Watching you almost die."
Astrid looked down as well and fiddled with her fingers. Guilt rushed through her body as she realized how stressed and scared her friends must've been when she was coming so close to death. She didn't even acknowledge the fact until now. She bit her lip, fighting back the urge to cry.
"It was scary for me too. I almost thought about giving up because the pain was so bad." Astrid said quietly, never really enjoying being vulnerable with anyone. But Hiccup was an acception. Hiccup slightly opened his mouth with worry as he looked over towards her sad eyes.
"You? Almost gave up? Didn't know Astrid Hofferson was capable of that." He said astonished as Astrid chuckled and softly punched him once more. "I'm serious." She said and Hiccup sighed pitifully.
"I know. And I wish there was more I could've done to prevent it from happening." Hiccup slumped his shoulders in disappointment. Astrid smiled sympathetically. She placed her hand on his shoulder gently and began to talk when he looked into her eyes.
"Hiccup, there was nothing you could've done. So don't blame yourself for this. You saved my life, and if it weren't for you I wouldn't be here right now." She told him softly, gratitude radiating though her eyes and smile. Hiccup smiled too, his pitiful expression disappearing.
"I have to admit, you're one of the strongest people I know Astrid. When I told my dad about you getting sick, he was surprised that you were still alive. Usually when people would get the scourge they became too weak to find the antidote, or wouldn't give people enough time to find it. It'd usually take their life in the course of one or two days. You gave us three whole days. That's pretty impressive if you ask me." Hiccup praised. Astrid chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"Well I had something to fight for." She replied simply and Hiccup raised his brow in curiosity.
"And what was that?" He asked not sure if he would get a response or just a slight smile. Surprisingly he got both.
"You." She smiled warmly at him, as he blinked in shock.
"M-me?" He stuttered and Astrid laughed softly. "Yes you. You were the one who was always there for me, always willing to go the extreme lengths to find the cure, always telling me to hang in there just a little longer. For you." She finished sweetly and Hiccup couldn't help but blush a little. She chuckled slightly at his slightly burning cheeks and wide eyes, and then looked towards the bright moon.
She froze as she felt Hiccup's fingers intertwine with hers, and he squeezed her hand tight. She smiled towards him, compassion in both their eyes. "I'm glad you did." Hiccup said softly.
They stood in silence for awhile, just listening to the waves lapping up against the cliff, basking in the fresh night air. Astrid could feel Hiccup tense up a bit, as the hand she was holding went stiff.
"Astrid it did get me th-thinking....." Hiccup finally broke the silence, and Astrid anticipated what he would say next, adrenaline rushing through her. "I meant what I said. Uh, about not being able to imagine a world without you. Watching you almost die...." Hiccup's breath hitched, "I don't know it just....hit me. I could've lost you and I j-just, couldn't be able to live without you." He finished off sadly, as Astrid smiled and squeezed his hand reassuringly.
"And I meant what I said. Without you I wouldn't even be alive, and you changed my whole world since you took me on that flight all those years ago with Toothless. You showed me what peace looked like, and that it was possible. You showed me that the impossible was possible in many different ways, and my life wouldn't be the same without you."
Hiccup's smile warmed Astrid's heart. She tucked a strand of her hair that flowed in the wind behind her ear, feeling her cheeks begin to burn. Thankfully it was night and it wasn't as present as Hiccup's blushing was. She stifled a little yawn for the first time in two days. Exhaustion was finally making its way back into her and sleep sounded very welcoming. Hiccup noticed Astrid's droopy eyes and decided to call it a night.
"I think it's time we both get some rest." Hiccup said as Astrid sleepily agreed. Still holding hands they walked back through the forest and to the series of platforms where their base resided. Occasional laughs would come from the two, as they continued to tease and poke fun at each other. Hiccup walked Astrid to her hut, and he let go of her hand and they both shifted awkwardly for a bit.
"Soooo I'll see you in the morning?" Hiccup was such a dork it made Astrid chuckle inside. She nodded and fiddled with a strand of her hair, "Yeah, see you in the morning." She turned to face the door to her hut but then froze in her tracks.
Memories flooded through her like a wave. All the times she shared with Hiccup, back to the first time she kissed him after he had woken up from losing his leg, and to just a few moments ago when they stood on the cliff. Something tugged at her heart, to run and kiss him as she never knew when her last chance could be. She bit her lip nervously, and finally resolved the conflict within herself and whipped her head around. Hiccup hadn't even made it that far yet surprisingly, he was slowly lingering back to his hut.
"Hiccup wait!" She called out into the night rushing after him, as Hiccup perked his head up surprisingly and turned to face the panting blonde.
Without hesitation she lunged herself forward and planted her lips against his earning a grunt of surprise from him, as he stumbled back a bit at the force. She quickly pulled away, realizing how abrupt the kiss must've been. Hiccup looked like he was in a completely different universe, as Astrid had never seen him so awestruck before. "Sorry I just-"
Now realizing that he might never have the chance again, Hiccup grabbed Astrid's waist without warning, and passionately closed the distance between their lips, and Astrid slowly fluttered her eyes closed eagerly kissing him back. She tangled her arms around his neck as he kissed her deeper, and he snaked his arms around her waist pulling her closer than she already was. They moved perfectly in synch, and after what felt like an eternity they broke apart just enough so that they could breath.
They both slightly gasped for air, as they leaned their foreheads against each other and smiled through the panting. Astrid blushed unconditionally, looking up into Hiccup's glistening eyes. He soothingly circled his thumbs in a gentle motion against her lower back, and she quietly chuckled to herself.
"What took you so long..." She whispered under her breath longingly as the corners of Hiccup's mouth tugged into a little smile. "I guess your near death experience knocked some sense into me." He replied softly, making her cheeks burn once more. "I guess that goes for me too." She removed her arms from his neck and snuck them behind his back, and hugged him tightly as she sleepily snuggled against his chest as the cold night air whisked on by. Hiccup rested his head atop of hers and held her tightly, swaying slightly and just enjoying having her in his arms.
"As much as I'm enjoying this, I think we should get some sleep so we don't have to deal with sleep deprivation and Snotlout and the twins." Hiccup looked down at her amusingly as she mumbled sleepily, and lifted her face to meet his. "Sounds like a plan." She said as she gently pressed a kiss to his cheek and she reluctantly let go of him and left his embrace. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it once last time, before he let it go and watched her walk to the entrance of her hut.
She couldn't help but giggle at the dopey smile Hiccup was wearing as he watched her leave. "Goodnight, Hiccup." She called out with a smile, lingering at the entrance of her hut. Hiccup beamed with a smile that was almost brighter than the moon.
"Goodnight M'lady." And with that he turned and dazedly walked back to his hut with the best feeling in the world. He had finally built up the confidence to kiss the girl of his dreams.
Astrid collapsed into her bed with a giddy sigh. Butterflies flooded into her stomach as she recalled the kiss. She rested her head against her pillow and instantly sleep took over, for the first time in four days.
Hiccup laid in bed and happily sighed. A sense of peace took over him knowing that Astrid finally knew how he felt about her. He drifted off to sleep and all he could think about all night was a certain blonde, who's life he never wanted to take for granted again. And he would make sure of that.
No matter what.

If you are still taking request, how about some angst with hiccup and Astrid witnessing zephyr death or if that's to dark they think she does but then she comes back to them later. Lol I've been watching to much game of thrones
Why!? Why do you want to read something so heartbreaking!? And why am I delivering?
I don’t know which circle of Hell you’ve come out of, and I don’t know which one I belong in for actually writing it. But I guess we’re in this together now.
Warning: Feels below the Keep Reading line.
May the Valkyries Welcome Her
They’d only just returned from visiting the dragons for the fourth time. They went once a year; the first time had been when Zephyr had just turned six. She’d been delighted to see them then, and she had been just as happy this time around. Smiling, cheering, spending all day with Toothless or one of the Night Lights, unable to let go of them even when they weren’t in the air. But they never should’ve gone to the Hidden World in the first place.
Hiccup had been in their kitchen, having breakfast while seeing to it that Nuffink didn’t break down the rest of their house. The boy had all of Astrid’s energy, but none of her sense of responsibility – something that would come with time, he hoped.
Astrid’s voice had alerted him. “Hiccup.”
It’d been short, yet urgent, the kind of tone she only used when something was wrong and she didn’t want the kids to notice. Anxious but trying not to be too concerned, he’d walked to his daughter’s room, where Astrid had been getting Zephyr ready for the day.
He’d found his wife looking at him with her big blue eyes, the shock and fear clear in them. Before he’d been able to open his mouth, Zephyr had escaped her mother’s hold, running into him and proudly showing him her arm.
“Daddy, look! I have spots too, just like the dragons!”
Things had gone quickly after that. He’d taken Nuffink to Valka, with the specific instructions that he could not be in contact with his sister or any of the other children on the island. His mother was quite solitary regardless, and Nuffink loved to stay over at his grandma’s, so he’d figured he’d be safe there. In the meantime, Astrid had gotten Zephyr dressed and had called in New Berk’s healers. Who’d confirmed their worst fears.
Dragonpox. The illness had been with them on Berk for as long as dragons had raided them. Dragons were wild animals after all, carrying things with them that Vikings normally weren’t exposed to. It didn’t strike often; even during the raiding years, only those who were already very frail or sickly had been known to contract it. But with dragons coming to Berk and becoming a daily part of their lives, the combination of gradual exposure and immensely improved dragon hygiene had made it so that the disease was nothing more than a distant memory.
They’d forgotten it existed. It’d become a thing of their dragon-fighting past on Berk, and no one had been brought down by it since they’d settled on New Berk either. Until now. And now, he was forced to watch his little girl tremble and writhe underneath the covers as the rash continued to conquer her skin. Which was his fault.
Zephyr didn’t know that. She smiled at him whenever he entered the room, her blue eyes lighting up as they always did when she saw her father. But a little less so every day.  She hadn’t noticed he’d started to wear gloves yet, as there were simply some responsibilities he couldn’t avoid, and he had not wanted to risk spreading her illness any further. He’d done his job, called a village meeting on the first night she’d gotten sick, warned everyone to watch themselves, their children and their elderly. Some had felt he was overreacting – the disease hadn’t claimed any lives on Berk for years, so why would it now? Surely, Zephyr wouldn’t be the first? That’s what he tried to believe as well.
But Astrid was with their daughter at all times. And every time he returned after he’d had to leave for some agonizing emergency, he’d ask her if Zephyr was doing better yet. And every time, she’d shaken her head.
Now, exactly two weeks after Astrid had first spotted the marks on Zephyr’s skin, Hiccup slumped back into their home. His metal foot sounded hollow on the wooden floor, the heavy cloak around his shoulders not quite measuring up the sense of guilt that rested on them. He was startled by the two women coming down the stairs, who almost froze in place at the sight of their chief.
All it took was a questioning look from him for them to shake their heads. There was nothing more they could do. He couldn’t blame them. They’d tried all they could to help, using Gothi’s old notes to the best of their ability. But with their old healer’s passing, a lot of dragon-related healing knowledge had faded as well.
No, the only person he could really blame was himself. For forcing a reunion with Toothless and the others. For refusing to stop chasing his lifelong dream of dragons and Vikings living together in peace. For wishing his children came to know that part of his life too. And now he was paying the ultimate price. With all he could do being praying to the gods not to take his little girl from him.
He walked up the stairs of their home, his every step heavy and loaded. The door to Zephyr’s bedroom was open and he found Astrid inside, sitting on a stool at the side of their daughter’s bed. Astrid looked exhausted, her cheeks hollow, her eyes red and swollen as she did her best to wipe her tears away. He crouched down next to her, letting her lean her against his shoulder as her own shuddered.
“We never should have taken them,” she told him, her voice so hoarse he almost couldn’t hear her. “Gods, Hiccup, why did we go?”
There was nothing he could say that would justify their decision. There were no words that could be said, no reason that could be given that would erase what they’d done. What they were now responsible for. No dragon that could cure this kind of pain. Watching the 10-year old girl he’d loved from the first moment he’d seen her, lying there, shaking in her bed as she fought against a fever that refused to release her from its hold.
All he could do was take off his gloves, wrapping his arm around Astrid’s shoulder as he reached out towards Zephyr with his other, taking the hand that laid on top of the covers in his. The sheer heat of her skin almost made him flinch, but he carefully enveloped her little fingers in his nevertheless.
Every now and then, she writhed, squeezing her eyes shut even more as her lips trembled. Her skin was flushed, the colour of the rash and blisters that’d covered her almost matching that of her reddish brown hair. He’d never seen her look this small, or this vulnerable. She was losing the battle inside of her. Which her father should’ve protected her from in the first place.
They sat there for what seemed like eternity. He tried to keep himself together as best as he could as Astrid continued to sob, the past two weeks which she’d solely spent taking care of her daughter taking its toll. Eventually however, he watched Zephyr’s tired eyelids open, a little touch of bright blue still left in them.
“Daddy?”
The weakness in her voice broke his heart as he watched her struggle to produce the words. He swallowed his own tears away before he spoke. “Yes, Zeffie?”
Zephyr shivered, her face wrinkling as she did. “I’m cold.”
He gave her the most reassuring smile he could as he unwrapped his cloak from his shoulders, reaching out to give it to her. But she latched onto the fabric of his tunic rather than that of his cloak, the look in her eyes pleading. “Daddy.”
He quickly wiped his eyes with his other sleeve before he got up, removing his prosthetic before he climbed into his daughter’s bed as he’d so often done. He held his arms open for Astrid to crawl into as he pulled Zephyr into his lap, wrapping his cloak and her blankets around her as her little hands buried themselves in his tunic as well as they still could.
Sitting there, leaning against the headboard with the two most important women in his life in his arms, he softly brushed Zephyr’s sticky bangs out of her face. “Is this better?”
She nodded against his chest, the heat from her little body almost warming his heart, which was growing colder and aching more by the minute. Zephyr stayed silent for a bit, until another question crossed her lips. “Where’s Nuff?”
Astrid answered before he could, softly rubbing Zephyr’s back. “He’s with grandma.”
“He’s not sick too, right?”
“No,” Astrid reassured her, her voice thick with tears. “Your brother’s fine.”
“G-good,” Zephyr nodded, shivering as she did.
She stopped talking for a while after that, curling up against Hiccup’s chest, shivers still wrecking her. When he was sure she was about to fade into sleep, she spoke up again.
“I’m scared.”
Zephyr’s eyes were closed as the words left her mouth, her voice as small as he’d ever heard it. Astrid looked up at him, biting her lower lip as tears started to flow down her face once more. He could only barely contain his own as he stroked Zephyr’s face, trying to put her at ease.
“You don’t have to be afraid,” he told her. “It’ll pass. How about I tell you a story?”
Her head moved against his chest, the motions weak but her agreement clear.
“Any particular one you’d like?”
“About dragons.”
Dragons. Of course, he thought as a dagger slowly made its way into his heart. “But I’ve already told you so many!” he said, trying to fake a laugh. “Let me try to think of a new one.”
He searched his mind, trying to find a story he hadn’t told her yet. Eventually, he did. “Did I ever tell you about Vanaheim?”
Zephyr’s blue eyes opened slightly as she shook her head, too weak to form words.
“Well, then I’ll tell it. In the life of every dragon, there comes a point at which they can no longer stay with the rest of their pack, because they are getting old and fragile. So they take one last flight, all the way to the island of Vanaheim. It’s a sacred place, meant for dragons alone. But your mommy and I once had the honour of guiding a dragon there,” he lied.
“To die?”
“No, on the contrary,” he laughed, partly to suppress the tears that were becoming harder to hold back as he watched Astrid silently weep from the corner of his eyes. “It’s a place for all sick and tired dragons to go to, and there, they can live forever. Like they’re young again. They’re never in pain, never hungry and never ill. There’s no one to hurt them there, and they’d never hurt each other. They just live there, all dragon species together, without a sense of worry on their minds. For all eternity.”
“I want to go there,” Zephyr managed, trying to look up at him but failing to keep her eyes open.
“Then we’ll go,” he told her, pulling her closer against his chest. “Once you’re better, we’ll go find Toothless and Stormfly and mommy and I will take you there. And Nuffink too. We’ll go to Vanaheim, with just the four of us. No chiefing for your mom and dad. A long holiday, during which you will able to see more dragons than you’ve ever seen on the edge of the Hidden World. Cuddle them, play with them, fly on their backs. Anything you want.”
The kind of foolish fantasies that’d landed her on her deathbed in the first place. But she didn’t know that. And he wasn’t going to tell her. “Would you like that?”
“Yes,” a soft voice told him.
“Then we’ll go,” he repeated, rocking her in his arms as he felt her shudder against him once more.
“Tell me more.”
And so he did. He made up all kind of stories about the version of Vanaheim he’d created for her. As she’d never get to see the real island. He used what little he’d seen in the Hidden World, and what he’d experienced on all his adventures throughout his years with Toothless. He thought about all the things he’d wished for in his life with dragons and described them to his daughter. All the long-lost dreams that’d never come true. But which filled her with wonder nevertheless.
It wasn’t until Zephyr eventually fell back asleep that he allowed himself to cry, tears streaming down his face as he tried to keep his body as steady as possible, so he wouldn’t disturb her. One of Astrid’s arms was around his neck while her other was in their daughter’s hair, softly stroking it as Zephyr’s chest heaved. Slowly, the time between her inhales seemed to increase, every muscle movement starting to cost more effort. Until her breathing stopped altogether.
“Zephyr?”
They’d known it was coming. But still, nothing could compare to the freefall his soul took right then, as he couldn’t do anything but shake the little girl’s body in his arms, somehow, somewhere expecting her to open her inquisitive blue eyes again. But she didn’t. No matter how hard he tried, or how often he called her name, she didn’t wake.
Astrid cried out, the sheer agony in the sound of her voice tearing him to shreds. He pulled Zephyr closer to him, looking for anything, any sign of life at all. But he found nothing. The fever she’d tried to fight off so desperately started to subside, her body growing cold. Too cold.
She was gone. His little girl. One of the three people he was supposed to protect above anything else. Dead. And it was his fault.
There was nothing he could do then but hold her frail shape to his chest as his shoulders shook, an indescribable pain and anguish flooding his entire existence, making him hope he’d drown in it so he’d have to feel it no more. Although he deserved to.
All that was left for him to do was to pray that the Valkyries would welcome her among them, taking her to Valhalla. Where he hoped, prayed, wished his father would take care of her. After he’d failed them both. Through his ‘love for dragons’, through his ‘good intentions’. Both of them, dead by his hands.
And this would be the last time. In that moment, he swore to himself that no one on New Berk would ever see a dragon again.

hey im trying to listen to new music sooo like what songs do you recommend lol
I suggest anything by Alexander Rybak? Like, he’s amazing? And absolutely adorable? Fun fact: He voiced the Norwegian Version of Hiccup on HTTYD 1 & 2 and he’s basically a real life Hiccup gosh I love him. The song ‘Into a Fantasy’ literally kills me and he just released a song called ‘Return’ inspired by Toothless! He also has many songs in Russian and a few in Belorussian! What a babe.
Didrik Solli-Tangen. What a babe with the voice of melted gold. He’s friends with Alexander Rybak and they did a Christmas song together a few years ago! Songs I suggest: Best Kept Secret, My Heart Is Yours, Six Ribbons.
Twenty One Pilots. The album. It’s such an interesting thing because you can hear the difference between then and now when you listen to the first Album like. Especially in Tyler’s voice? It’s beautiful to hear him grow up and mature thru music & then he met Josh & now it’s just the two of them and goodbye I’m emotional. If you don’t want to listen to the entire Album, I suggest: Addict with a Pen, Trapdoor, Isle of Flightless Birds and March to the Sea. (the entire album though is just amazing).
Anything else by Twenty One Pilots really, though I can suggest: Guns For Hands, Kitchen Sink, Lovely, and Truce.
Volbeat. They’re so good and their lead singer has such a unique voice? Songs I suggest: Rebound, Black Rose(Feat. Danko Jones),  The Mirror and the Ripper, Lola Montez, A Warrior’s Call.
Nothing More. Oh gosh, don’t get me started pls. I saw them live in 2015 and again in 2016 and they’re just so good. Their lead singer sang shirtless and mmm boi. Songs I suggest: Jenny, Mr. MTV, This is the Time(Ballast).
Shinedown! Oh boy oh boy! favorite band right now yes yes! Suggesting songs would be such a pain in the ass because I would suggest literally everything. Their album “Amaryllis” is the one that got me hooked! There are so many good songs on that album, and I suggest listen to it’s entirety. Threat to Survival, their most recent album, was hella good too! ANYTHING SHINEDOWN PLS. The lead singer has such a cool voice, unlike anything else, and he’s so amazing like AAAAAA. Seen them live 3 times, can’t wait for the next one so pls LISTEN TO SHINEDOWN.
Five Finger Death Punch. It took me a while to get into them, but I love them now lol. Songs I suggest: The Bleeding(The acoustic kicks ass), I Apologize, Wrong Side of Heaven, House of the Rising Sun, Bad Company.
Beastie Boys. Another favorite, and I’d suggest you listen to everything but here are a few of my favorite songs right now: Gratitude, Intergalactic, Fight for your Right, No Sleep ‘Till Brooklyn, So What’Cha Want, Sabotage.
t.A.T.u. Lord have mercy on my soul do I love them so much. They sing both Russian and English songs, thuogh I’m more of a fan of the Russian myself. Very popular back in the early 2000′s. Songs: All the Things She Said, All About Us, Не Жалей(Ne Zhaley), Show Me Love, Полчаса(Polchasa).
Secondhand Serenade. I wish they were more popular like I love their music? Songs: Fall For You, It’s Not Over, Take Me With You.
If you like instrumental or like to listen to soundtracks, I suggest both How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks, both by John Powell, Star Trek Beyond by Michael Giacchino, The Prince of Egypt by Various, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by James Newton Howard, Big Hero 6 by Henry Jackman, Rise of the Guardians by Alexandre Desplat, Star Wars by John Williams(or anything by Williams TBH).
More Songs under the cut

Hellogoodbye: Here (in your arms)
Boys Like Girls: Love Drunk.
