You had been friends with Brian for too long. Not in the sense that you didn’t want to be his friend anymore. But there was only so much playing Catan, watching Star Wars and listening to the firehouse gossip that you could take without getting your feelings involved.

Things were normal for a while. Brian was just a friend. You liked that he was just a big a nerd as you were. Liked the constant tiny squabbles over the better shows or movies. All of it.

But somewhere along the way you felt something growing. Something you couldn’t ignore. So you made a plan. This Friday he was free, no firefighter duties to look forward to. No pre existing plans. So you invited him over for a movie.

Nothing crazy, the usual if anything. But you were going to put out some feelers. Instead of beers you’ll bust out some red wine. Instead of Star Wars or some other sci-fi movie, you chose some horror film you’d never seen.

Tiny changes, things that could set the mood and all that. Nothing totally big like candles and dim lights, well, the lamp in the corner had always been favorable over the ceiling light but regardless, still not a huge change.

The main hope of this night was to not look like a whole idiot. To actually get what you wanted out of it and that he hopefully did too.

So when it was Friday and you had everything set up, still in the usual casual clothes, you nervously paced the living room waiting for him. Maybe you shouldn’t have gotten so worked up, but it was hard.

Your mind was running a mile a minute, heart racing so much you would think you were going to develop an arrhythmia.

That only got worse when he knocked on the door. Any faster and you’d have left a trail of flames behind you as you raced to open it. ���Hi!” Your voice just slightly more chipper than usual.

If he noticed he didn’t comment on it but you internally screamed as he stepped inside, letting you latch the door behind you.

“Hey,” The usual smile on his face brightened up the room, his eyes traveling over your face and the shirt you had on as he always did, unknowing to you.

You smiled back, “I hope you don’t mind but I made a couple changes.” Your hand grabbed his just slightly to pull him gently into the living room. “Wine that I need to drink and a horror movie I’ve been wanting to see.”

Those weren’t lies, that bottle of wine had been waiting to be opened since Christmas and the movie had been on the streaming site for a while, you just hadn’t had the balls to watch it yourself.

And hey, who could help deciding to watch it with their best friend that they had a crush on? You were guilty of that but honestly, who could blame you?

“That’s fine, hope you don’t get too scared though,” he chuckled, glancing over at you. You knew you wouldn’t but that didn’t stop you from shyly smiling, sitting down with your legs crossed and patting the spot next to you.

As soon as he was set you started the movie, knowing he usually liked watching it first before any real conversation, especially days where he had been working. He needed a buffer.

At some point in the movie you had moved closer, his arm over the back of the couch just slightly touching your shoulder now.

Usually that would go unnoticed but being hyper aware of it made that one small section tingle, wanting to get even closer but deciding that that wouldn’t be entirely inconspicuous.

A bit into the movie Brian got up to use the bathroom but when he came back it was like he decided to sit right next to you.

Leg pressing against leg level of next to you. You looked over at him, eyes glancing along the side of his face.

He was never too proud of how he looked, something he’d rambled on about more than once but to you he always looked amazing. Like nobody else you’d ever laid eyes on.

Brian looked like a beautiful wooded mountain range at sunset. Just so enticing to look at. “What?” His voice snapped you out of your thoughts, face going red as you got caught staring at him.

“Uh, nothing,” you attempted to lie, Brian immediately abandoning the movie, shifting onto his now bent leg and leaning his head against his palm.

“Nothing?” The man wasn’t stupid, he knew you were staring, he just didn’t know why. And the second you caught his eye, you were putty in his hands.

Just slightly you hummed in confirmation, shifting to mirror the way he was sitting. It was an attempt to make it seem fine and normal but without realizing it the two of you moved slightly closer.

It was like watching two magnets try not to snap together. Their poles reaching out for the other. The perfect otherside just for them.

Brian just nearly put his lips on yours, pausing at the last second to look over your face, the way you were looking at him and the way your eyes practically melted when he looked at you was enough.

With the slightest go ahead from you, he pressed his lips to yours gently. This wasn’t how you expected things to go. If anything you figured that you would be the one to kiss him.

Not him. But that did one thing for sure. Confirm that he liked you just as much as you liked him. If not, more.

Admiring the Art

Pairing: Marc Spector x reader

Summary: spending an afternoon admiring art with Marc

a/n: yes this was inspired by one of the new heartstopper episodes

“How am I supposed to admire all this art when you’re the most beautiful thing here?” Your head whips around to the sound of Marc’s voice, a giant grin forming as his words sink in. He’s stood just an arm's length away looking at you with a slight tilt of his head. 

“Shush,” you reach your hand out to him which he takes and he steps up next to you. Marc smiles down at you, his eyes taking a moment to look over your face. You scrunch your nose and that makes a quiet chuckle escape him. Turning back to the painting you’d been admiring, you lean your head on his shoulder, wrapping your free arm around his while your hands stay intertwined. For a few minutes, you both just stay like that observing the art and trying to look like you know what you’re doing.

“It’s beautiful,” you comment quietly.

“You’re beautiful.”

“Stoooppp,” your cheeks grow hot at the compliment.

“It’s just the truth.” Marc’s hand squeezes yours before his thumb starts comfortingly brushing back and forth. 

Happily, you both move around the gallery’s exhibits hand in hand. Each time you stop Marc lets you lean your head on his shoulder and he continues to move his thumb against your hand. It’s a perfectly quiet way to spend your afternoon.

“Are you having fun?” Marc whispers and when you crane your neck back to glance at him you see he’s already looking down at you.

“Of course,” you smile casually before looking back to the art. There’s a beat of silence before Marc speaks again.

“I-I mean,” when you look up at him again his face has a more serious look to it and it makes you stand up a bit straighter, “are you having a good time… with me?”

“Yes, of course!” You pull your hand from his so you can wrap your arms around his waist, and instinctively Marc’s arm hooks around your shoulders. His eyes won’t meet yours and your heart aches at the thought he’d ever doubt you were having a good time with him. “I am having the best time with you. You are perfect, Marc Spector.”

You smile when you see him playfully roll his eyes but he can’t hide the way his lips curve upwards. 

“I’m serious, this whole trip has been perfect and getting to spend time with each of you has been really important to me.”

“Yeah, okay.” His hand rubs the top of your arm and he keeps his eyes looking forward. You know Marc would do anything to stop any conversation where he’s the one getting complimented but you also know he craves the validation that he’s good enough.

“You really are perfect, you know that right?” Your arms squeeze around his torso to make sure you’ve got his attention, “the most perfect.” You raise yourself up onto your tiptoes to plant a delicate kiss on his jaw and that’s the thing that makes him finally look at you.

“Stop.” He’s not serious at all, the smile on his face gives that much away.

“It’s just the truth, Marc.” You shrug your shoulders as a cheeky grin makes its way onto your face. Marc catches the way you repeat his own words back to him and he just shakes his head at you. 

“You know,” quietly you whisper jokingly looking around to make sure there’s no one close by, “don’t tell the other two but you’re my favourite.” Marc instantly chuckles and the sound only causes your smile to stretch.

“I know that you say that to all of us.” It’s your turn to giggle now and Marc can’t help the overwhelming urge to just kiss you. One quick peck turns into two and the third is a little longer then neither of you pull away, happy to stay close enough to almost kiss for just a second. Marc quickly shifts to plant a kiss on your cheek before pulling you into a tight hug. You instantly return the hug, arms squeezing tightly around him while he sways you side to side. You feel his lips press against the top of your head, his grip on you loosening in sync with yours.

“Come on, Steven’s bugging me about an exhibit he wants to see.”

and ooo thanks for the question, I wanna hear your thoughts after this👀 I've already said a little bit about this in the tags of some other posts, as well as touched on it in my master post of the crew, but I suppose I may give a big final answer(for now, from this teaser).

judging the art alone, not the fact that we get a new anime or anything exciting like that, just the art alone... it's very pretty!

yea this is very pretty. the kid looks great, small and good, and his hair looks feathery and neat, so I approve. I think they nailed his general proportions, I think they'll do a great job at keeping them consistent during episodes! the image to the right does looks a tiny bit like a 3d asset, which is a bit jarring compared to the previous anime style, but I'm flexible towards this change. even if he looks like a video game cutscene character, I usually love cutscenes!!

but here's the drama I'm sure you're here for. yes, unfortunately, there are some wee things that I don't love as much🤏

the first thing, it really doesn't matter and I should shut up about it now... but YOU asked so ajdjfksksk why did they have to shrink sebs jaw cmon my favorite art of him ever was during the Greenwitch arc so don't tell me I'll NEVER be able to see that style of him animated😫 I just like prominent features man. I know he's meant to be pretty but but but....

ah okay. heres the main thing that I think most people may agree with.

these are two screenies of sebster from the teaser. honestly, as ☆luxurious☆ as his lashes are, I'm not a fan of the left image. the airbrush on his hair feels a tad overdone. I love the attention to detail, especially in the one on the right, it shows a lot of love! but there's just something about it that's a bit off for me.

and I think after 24 hours I've finally figured it out: it's the colors.

the realization started to hit me when I saw my favorite edit so far here by @ashxketchum. the colors have been edited to be much more saturated and warm. and I think this is exactly what is missing here.

I even tried my own hand at it, and yea personally, I think slapping a saturation, tint, and just a BIT of contrast on the whole thing can do numbers on it.

already I like it(no I'm not just praising my own work, it's not the best edit out there I did it in 30 secs). I think the reason for this is because the background is very rich in contrast and warm tones, so the characters(particularly sebastian who is all black) stand out when they are muddy and low contrast. I love stylistically when contrast is high, but that's just a personal thing, and I shouldn't hold a studio to those standards.

I tried it for the poster too though, which again I felt was a bit off. official art has never been the most top tear, and the poster is GOOD, the background is awesome and the two peeps looks amazing. but my problem with it was clear once I did another color edit.

again, I feel like everything was very muted in the left original, not to mention a tad monochromatic. I really think a kick of contrast and hue could do wonders.

BUT. I know that at the end of the day, it's not a big deal. I don't really care. would it make my day or whole year if they slapped a color filter on it, or continued to work on the color grading of the scenes? probably yea! but my opinion isn't obsolete, and most of all, I look forward to and respect the artists decisions.

so no I'm not "fixing" the art😅😒.

Feel like she was nervous on her first day in training but as soon she got into the training pitch with the barca she just prayed to vidic and tackled caro what was the team reaction to her first Spain call up ? and also her reaction. Did she play in most o the matches in the uwcl and were other team aware of this tiny 🤏 defenders? Thank you

As soon as she steps on any pitch she transforms from a nervous, shy 16-year-old to a Vidić reincarnate and it catches everyone off guard. Caro was stunned at first when she got tackled, but nobody was more proud than miss Maria León herself.

The team were very proud of her first senior call up to the Spain team. They were all very excited for her, even those that refused the call up out of protest. She was beyond shocked that she received a call up, out of everyone possible. Mapi doesn’t understand why she’s so shocked because she saved them in the final, she deserves the call up

And yes, she did play in most UWCL matches. Most of the other teams underestimated her because of her age, and the media thought it was unwise of Jona to start an ‘inexperienced’ defender in such a big competition, but she quickly proved them wrong and surprised everyone with her skill. Bebita is a pillar in defense 😇😇

1) Are you named after anyone?

They just thought the name was pretty, I think.

2) When was the last time you cried?

Today :) I've been doing it a lot lately, but only a little at a time. Probably just need some rest.

3) Do you have kids?

For many years, I've been helping my grandmother raise my younger brother. I'm the one people call when there's an emergency, I'm the one who takes him to the doctor and tend to him when he's sick, I'm the one who notices when he needs something new, I'm the one who takes him shopping, I'm the one who attends school meetings, I'm the one who guides him through the government's bureaucracy, and I'm the one he talks to about his problems, as well as his prospects for the future. Sometimes, when grandma allows me in her kitchen or is unavailable, I'm even the one who feeds him.

So, by all means, yes, I do have a kid. And soon from now he won't be a kid anymore, but I know I'll always consider him my utmost responsibility in this world.

That's one of the reasons I don't want any more kids than I already have. Looking after the lives of two people (mine and his) is enough.

4) What sports do you play/have you played?

I was never a sportive person tbh.

5) Do you use sarcasm?

Yes (usually for a humorous effect).

6) What's the first thing you notice about people?

Their... apparent age? “That's a teenager.” “That's an elder.” It's one of the factors that help me predict/understand others' behaviors/expectations.

7) What's your eye color?

Dark brown.

8) Scary movies or happy endings?

That might come as a surprise, but I've never been much fond of scary movies 😅 Unless they are something like psychological horror, it's rare for me to actually get invested in them.

I like happy endings, but I'm ok with sad endings too. I just feel averse to open endings—especially when the story feels incomplete because of it.

9) Any talents?

Very good at elaborating questions that will lead people to talk more than me during a conversation (in a way that is enjoyable for them, of course!)

10) Where were you born?

North of Brazil. I lived in other places, but I'm back in my hometown now.

It's technically my cousin's, but we do have a pet in the house. It's a cat we call Relâmpago (it means Lightning). It sleeps at my doorstep during the day and we frequently eat together.

168cm. Most women are shorter than me, but I still wish I was just a tiny bit taller 🤏

14) What was your favorite subject in school?

Story Time with real events (a.k.a History).

History teachers from public schools are very passionate about their field of study! They know exactly why we're forced to live on hard mode and go through so many injustices today. If they could, they would tell everyone about it, so we'd argue more, question more, and bend history in our favor for once. I loved my History teachers, loved learning about the people that came before us, and especially about how changeable everything is.

15) What is your dream job?

The idea of doing anything, and I mean anything, repetitively, for decades, non-stop, takes off the spark of any career path I have found compelling in the past. I don't want to do something I love in exchange for profit/out of obligation, because I know this won't work for me. I tried it before, and all it did was make me resent my hobby. So I don't mix the two concepts anymore. I literally do not dream of labor.

But I still need labor—at the very least, not to starve to death. So what I dream about, now, is a job that doesn't take too much of my time and energy, so I can dedicate them to enjoyable activities and to the people I love; so I can live a life that is not determined or owned by my job.

Random Scar thoughts, but we should just make him as any mob in the game at this point. (Which, i think you've done, actually lol)

Pig/Piglin/Zoblin/Hoglin? He's got the ungligrade legs, he's taking potions to stave off the zombitication in the overworld, he's constantly forgetting them and respawning in the nether, and hes TRYING HIS BEST DANG IT

Cow/Moobloom/Mooshroom? It changes from season to season. in S7 the mycelium resistance kept trying to add mushrooms to him. He's absolutely living his life in the more open planes and centaur friendly setup of S10.

Chicken/Parrot? Avian/elytrian scar. Big wings. Constantly broken and unpreened feathers. Gem has to hunt him down to preen them. Bonus points if scar is 🤏 thiiis big.

Cat/Ocelot? What else is there to say.

Wolf/Dog? Reddog gets a new packmate! We can assign him the new dog types at random. Big tail wags. Very protective of him and his, ya know? Sleeping on his back in front of the fireplace.

Bat? He never lights up his builds because he just cannot tell that they are too dark. he's got great night vision. also bat scar gets to hotguy people upside-down while startling them in caves and I just think thats neat.

Dolphin/axolotl? We just love mermen. He keeps losing limbs as an axolotl and not batting an eye because its gonna grow back anyways.

Sniffer? Big man. fuzzy man. BIG. NOSE. Need I say more.

I can keep going, man. I just don't want to accidentally give you a freaking essay lmao

Scar as a piglin brute specifically is so funky to me. I have an au with him and I've drawn him a bunch in the past. I should draw him again. He's so silly.

The cow one is so cute with the mushrooms. The idea of grian and the rest if the mycelium resistance trying to grow mushrooms on him is so funny sivkejgwjg I love that. He should be friends with the moobloom mumbo I drew a while back.

Chicken and parrot are both good options but consider: vulture scar. Or kiwi scar. Kiwis have teeny tiny wings okay. Consider that. No one even knows scar is an avian because his wings are tiny

Cat or ocelot scar is a classic. Silly little cat boy.

Dog or wolf scar would be so cute. He'd be wagging his tail 24/7.

Bat scar... extra hotguy action. That would be so fun.... consider: the reason scar is so clumsy is because his eyesight is worse and he relies mostly on his hearing and echolochation which isn't the best for him since he's still also partially human.

I don't like dolphins but axolotl scar would be so silly.... the whole bit recently on one of his streams where his hand doesn't show uo after grians prank kills him? Scar not even realizing he lost an arm until someone points it out to him.
