"Got it, Ton Ton:" how Dinotrux does a great job at covering a victim of peer pressure & avoids a horrendous & wrong stereotype

Dinotrux has numerous episodes covering racism and stereotypes. And it does an amazing job on that. But it has an episode about PEER PRESSURE, and it was covered so well.

The Dumps are Ton Tons old friends, but they (Especially Drag - O) pressure him into things he doesnt want to do. For example 'dump bumping' wich is two trux driving toward each other at full speed and bumping head first into each other. Ton Ton is clearly not comfortable, but he doesnt want to ditch them because of how long they have been friends. This episode covered really well that Ton Ton is young and doesnt know how to deal with this properly. When they race their problem out with 3 1 on 1 races, Ty comes up with the plan of Skya, Ton Ton and Dozer against the Dumps, and Ton Ton tells honestly he doesnt want to race because "he has a wheel on each side of this", he doesnt want to choose a side, to wich Ty replies:

"Got it, Ton Ton."

Thats it. No unecesarrily long dialogue. No trying to get Ton Ton to race anyway. Just:

"Got it, Ton Ton."

GOD i wish more kids shows did this.

I was so afraid Ty was gonna take the "but youre the fastest - you have to do this - we are your real friends" direction, but instead he understands what Ton Ton is going trough and helps him by not putting any more pressure on him and 'brainwashing' him into going on their side because "we are your real friends". No. He accepts and understands that this is hard for Ton Ton and he shouldnt push Ton Ton into a responsibillity now.

The "we are your real friends" stereotype click moment is WRONG.

This should be how characters learn. Not the stereotypical way by being pressured by the other main characters even more to do this for them, because "you are the fastest/strongest/smartest." "Only you can do this" and thanks to THAT the character realizes the main characters are his true friends. NO. NO NO NO. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU COVER THIS TOPIC.

From what Ty did, we learn:

• Pressuring someone to choose a side (and already has a hard time with it) only causes more problems, and can lead to trust issues.

• Understanding that this person is young or needs more time to deal with this (in this case both)

• Avoiding to give this said character a responsibillity on top of all the pressure.

• By keeping it simple "Got it, Ton Ton", and not making a big deep deal out of it helps said character better. They realize that its very easy someone to just say "ok, i understand" when they say "i dont want to do this."

The way Ty deals with Ton Ton in this episode (not just here, numerous times) was how a friend acts when they see their friend is being pressured. At the end of the episode, when Ton Ton still decides to race we see this even better, when Drag O hurts Dozer so bad he has to leave the track, Ton Ton is in shock, but is then like "wait a minute, heck no!" And he hits the track & races for the main team.

THAT IS A CLICK MOMENT!

And the end is also very wholesome. The trux end up racing all four on the track and Ton Ton cheats, but not because he wants to win or to annoy the others, he knows the others are not gonna get mad at him and he actually feels safe enough to be himself around them.

I love how Ty, Dozer and Skya keep reassuring and sort of parent Ton Ton all the time, this dynamic is so wholesome ❤️

Dinotrux species explained in detail: T Trux

Species name: Tyrannosaurus Trux (T Trux)

Living place: Land

Heights: 30 to 40+ feet (Ty: 38 ft - D Structs: 39 ft)

Predator / predatory: predator

Vehicle hybrid: Excavator

Dinosaur hybrid: Tyrannosaurus Rex

Way of life: can live in a herd or group, but naturally lives alone.

Traits: Territorial, dominant, often slightly selfish, unsocial, short tempered

Summary

The Tyrannosaurus Trux is a large Dinotrux species that is estimated to be one of the biggest land trux. The large predator is feared by most Dinotrux, for they are known as dominant and territorial.

Weapons

Wrecking ball tail: T Trux are armed with a replacable wrecking ball on their tails. This is their most notorious weapon and the first one they use when fightning. A powerful swing from this ball can smash entire trux out of the way, can cause avalages and rockslides and break ore veins out of the ground with just one smash. So its understandable that a smash from a T Trux's wrecking ball can cause serious damage to targets if hit, one slam is even capable of screwing up other dinotrux's systems when hit hard enough.

Powerful jaws: The T Trux has some of the most powerful jaws the Mechazoïcum has ever known with an estimated bite force of a whopping 435,000 per square inch. Maybe even stronger, because T Trux can bite right trough metal and solid rock without any problems. The lower jaw is (most of the time) armed with big teeth. The upper jaw usually has tinier teeth.

Diet & eating habits

T Trux naturally / usually eat ore, they can smell it and find it that way underground. They can eat rocks, but ore is a way better, heathier option and probably tastes better.

T Trux are shown to be able to survive a frequent amount of time without food. Ty drives around without food for the beginning of the show, proving the T Trux (or at least Ty) can survive at least 2 to 3 days without food or water. In the wind episode Ty has not eaten for approximately hours after saving his own food for his friends. He clearly is hungry, but isnt too bothered by it. Its unknown how long T Trux can go without water, but considering what happened in the pilot it could be the same as food, approximately 2 to 3 days.

Despite being feared, T Trux are dominant and territorial, but never shown to be carnivorous for as far as the series go. It is never proven that T Trux truly eat other Dinotrux, not even reptools. They just fight and kill. Wich.. makes it even worse, actually.

Predator functions

Notorious speed: T Trux don't usually drive that fast, but if they need to they can suddenly accelerate and not make much noice either. This is believed to be a predator function. I myself was most faschinated with this in the Pounder episode where the dinotrux attempt to catch the Pounder. Ty hides, counts, at at three he very quickly drives straight to his target, very smoothly without hitting anything despite being completely surrounded by trees. This is the first time we see Ty behave like a predator (or at least use his hunting functions) as he seems to not have any issues accelerating and driving straight to his target.

Extremely good hearing: Despite not having visible ears, the T Trux's hearing is very good. Ty can percisely track activities underground by just following a noise. In the desert scraptors episode Ty is seen tracking Click Clack while he is running underground. Ty hears everything really clearly, almost loses Click Clack twice, but easily gets back on track, brakes when he hears Click Clack stop and finds the exact spot to get Click Clack out of the ground. In the Gearwigs episode, the gearwigs surround a cave where D Structs, Blayde, Splitter and Pounder are in, D Structs hears the noise first and is the first to recognize it as gearwigs.

Powerful engine: The T Trux engine is built for power. The strong engine can generate more then 3,000 horsepower, plow right trough solid rock and turned to silent when the T Trux has to be quiet. If they have to T Trux can be eerily quiet for such a machine as a excavator + Tyrannosaurus Rex hybrid. In fact they can be so quiet even other trux can't hear them.

Hydraulic power and durabillity: T Trux have some of the most durable hydraulics of all land trux. Hydraulics are like muscles for a dinotrux and they can take an impressive amount of hits, especially the T Trux's. A thing T Trux seem to do a lot to look more intimidating is to open up the upper side of their treadmill, using a hydraulic pipe in there to push them open and appear bigger. When driving opening up the treadmills appearantly boosts their speed. There are a few times in the series where the treadmills are shown completely open - they can stand really wide. T Trux have very durable bodies in general. They are hunters, theyre built to last as long as possible, being able to survive enormous falls from cliffs, theyre able to take hits from a dreadtrux, they can survive avalages, rockslides and rocky water despite not being capable of swimming. Due to the fact theyre built to last long.

Weaknesses

The T Trux has one of the most powerful engines of all Dinotrux, wich means it runs hot faster. This makes them more vulnerable to heat. When a T Trux is in a very hot envorinment their engine heats up and they end up overheating wich can lead to engine damage followed by shutdown (death), proving Dinotrux can die of engine damage. In exchange fo the heat vulnerabillity, T Trux can stay warm lonfer in cold envorinments. Where other Dinotrux freeze up from cold and sometimes end up with jammed engines, T Trux have no problems in cold climates due to their engine that keeps them warm the whole time.

Writings Claires PTSD - Dinotrux New Dawn stuff

I never traumatize my ocs, but when i do, its uh... heavy.

Trigger warning: mentions of (sexual) abuse

Claire is in Dinotrux New Dawn a victim of PTSD. I, as her creator and writer, wanted to make sure her symptoms were as accurate as possible. I am very well aware everyone experiences things like PTSD differently, i do not have it myself and i tried not overloading Claire. A lot research has been put into Claire - including talking with actual people with PTSD, looking up how to write traumatized characters, looking up symptoms, reading about in in books, blogs, therapy sites and more. Claire is very sensitive, wich was my base. The following symptoms she shows the most in the story.

1. Needs personal space & hesistant to touch

Claire is sensitive to touch. Because she is a machine (T Trux - Dinotrux) she has certain parts of her body where she does not allow touch whatsoever. These parts are her neck, her torso and her lower body. When she gets touched she either will freeze, immediatly start looking out and keeping an eye on the hand thats touching her, or she will flinch away. She dislikes hugs the most.

2. Has an incredibly hard time saying no and setting boundaries

Claires reactions to being touched are a reflex. Claire is scared of saying no, because in her past, it had no effect. Her way of refusing something is backing away. She drives backwards when she sees something as intimidating or scary - wich is something she hates, considering she's an apex predator trux.

3. Has a hard time relaxing & bad at taking care of herself

Claire is tensed up most of the time - she finds it hard to calm down. It sometimes keeps her up at night. Her fear of relaxing comes from unwanted physical touch, wich makes it even worse. Claire likes to go on part runs or ore hunts because its one of the very few times when she feels happy and safe. She has the tendency to push trough no matter how badly malfunctioning she is. When Ty first met her at the Flatirons, she was searcing for food, as she tells him: "well, i've been driving for 3 straight days and there isnt a lot of food in the Outlands, so.." as she later gets into the garage, Revvit tells her she is severely underfed wich almost caused her digestive system to collapse so it could save energy for the engine. She also turns out to lack a few tread bolts and one of her head lights is busted. Claire tells them she was simply scared and in a rush, and she had no time to worry about anything, including basic needs like food, water and sleep. When Revvit asks her if she was seriously considering not eating or drinking for more then 3 days, she has no response.

4. Well written panic attacks!!???!???

If there is one thing i learned while writing panic attacks, its gonna be this: panic attacks include a lot of thinking. A lot of rushed thoughts. When Claire gets a panic attack, she has a HUGE tought progress. Its not just "help im panicking help im panicking." Its:

"I DON'T FEEL SAFE!"

"I HAVE TO GET OUT!"

"DO I RUN OR FIGHT!?"

"I JUST GOT SCREAMED AT! DO I SCREAM BACK? NO OF COURSE I DON'T SCREAM BACK! BUT I CANT JUST LET IT HAPPEN!"

"OH TY IS SUCH AN IDIOT, BUT HE LISTENED TO ME. BUT HE JUST YELLED AT ME!"

Its like, she is panicking. She doesnt know what to do. A panic attack or a mental breakdownn don't usually include clear, strategic, calm thinking. Its a rush of emotions. In Claires case, its being stuck in the "fight or flight" response. She knows she's a big strong Dinotrux standing 37 feet tall, has a wrecking ball on her tail and one of the most powerful bite forces of all land trux. She is a predator, in nature her kind KILLS. But she feels like prey, wich is very humilliating for a T Trux. Adding hyperventilating and trembling too. Claires panic attacks are a mix of humilliation and pure fear. At least that how i wrote it so 🤷‍♂️ thank you

Species name: Ankylodump

Living place: Land

Traits: outgoing, extravert, social, daring, enthousiastic, often inmature, determined

Summary

The Ankylodump is a 4 treaded ore eating Dinotrux species that lives on land. Its one of the few Dinotrux species to drive on wheels instead of treadmills. They are enthousiastic and daring Trux that always seek up the fun. They are also shown to be quite curious and don't judge off of first impressions, unlike many other Dinotrux. They are naturally very social and friendly to any trux their kind. In Bolderbox Canyon multiple different herds of Ankylodumps come from all over pass trough the canyon during migration for the yearly 'ankylodump games' where young and old dumps compete in stunt racing, rampjumping and rockflinging. They are not shown to be very competitive and seem supportive of one another.

Weapons & ambillities

Loading bed - the biggest weapon and most used body part is the loading bed. This part, located on the back, is used as a 'backpack' to carry food or rocks along, but mother Ankylodumps are shown to carry their offspring in it too. Ankylodumps use their bed to attack too by filling it up with rocks and throwing it to their attackers, wich may seem harmless, but due to being naturally built for carrying loads Ankylodumps have incredibly strong backs, wheels, shocks and necks, able to support huge amounts of weight and easily carrying multiple boulders in their bed without any problems. Many don't know that despite their size, Ankylodumps are actually very strong and durable. The bed is not only an important part, but its also shown to be sensitive. Ankylodumps can feel anything that happens in their loading bed. Ton Ton comments multiple times that he's ticklish on his back, wich goes for both his bed and his bare back under it. In one episode Ton Ton has to fill his loading bed up with ice, and when the Picktools are done helping him, Ton Ton is shown shivering, he feels the ice and yells that its cold. A detail in the battle episode is when Ton Ton gets lava rocks in his loading bed, there is a metal pad flexed all over the inside of the bed to protect Ton Ton's back, wich works since Ton Ton doesnt even seem to feel it in the entire episode.

Extreme speed: Ankylodumps are shown to be the fastest land trux. Their top speed isnt known. They are shown to need their tail to stay balanced.

Durabillity: Ankylodumps are not just very strong, but also notoriously durable. During racing or ramping, wich for most of these trux are daily activities, they often crash, slam their heads into walls, or even each other, land on their sides or flip over, wich they dont really seem bothered by. Ankylodumps are also never really shown heavily injured or broken, even though they definitley have crucial parts that they need, despite their daring nature they never really get very hurt. Ton Ton has numerous times in Dinotrux where he willingly crashes his head into walls and flips himself on his back and sides, and doesnt even flinch at these landings. In one episode, Dozer gets a more advanced, bigger blade and a supercharger. Ton Ton lets Dozer test this new blade out on him, he gets slammed in his side very hard, flies out of the garage, tumbles on his head, sides and back and ends up upside down on his back. His only response is: "duuude...." he does not seem hurt or in pain, and after he flips himself back over and drives along with his friends as if nothing happend.

Herd & life

Just like Dozeratops, Ankylodumps are social trux and naturally live in herds. They sleep, eat and drive in groups. They are also the first dinotrux species to have information given about migration patterns.

After mating season, female Ankylodumps bury their eggs underground to protect them from Scraptors, Scarapadatyls and other dangers. Newborn Ankylodumps don't have spikes on their beds yet.

Ankylodumps mostly spend their time on the move: they don't usually stay in the same place for very long. Where Dozeratops and Craneosaurs mostly settle in one place and continue life, Ankylodump herds seem to mostly be on the move.
