𖦹°‧★ Favourite song(s): Oh man this is always a hard one I'll give you a few that seem to have had me in a chokehold for various reasons
Twin Skeletons Fall Out Boy (this one just came back and hit me like a truck a while ago as I was so obsessed with that song when the album came out)
The Funeral Yungblud (Just ough also Gerry coded af)
King Florence + the Machine (It's been over a year and it's still got me good)
Psychopomp Hozier (I think it's my song off the new album but also I haven't had the emotional strength to listen to the album again as i listened to it beginning to end and it wrecked me)
Don't Fear the Reaper Blue Oyster Cult (my forever number one, my ride or die, my rotten solider my good time boy the fact i got obsessed with this song at age 11 is probably a good sign i'd eventually become a goth yes i am aware it is not a goth song ok but the vibes ok it's THE VIBES)
Black Me Out Against Me! (This song came and kicked me in the face and I went thank you)
Big Bad Wolf In This Moment (How did I not know this band existed until recently I have no idea but it's so my vibe I'm almost mad about it I also want to steal all Maria Brinks makeup looks)
Flesh babychaos (can't describe what it is it, just vibes good and it legit made me get tingles)
𖦹°‧★ Favourite colour(s): black, grey, purple, silver, turquoise
𖦹°‧★ Currently Watching: (Go watch Emily she's a great youtuber to watch if you like casual chatty alternative subculture themed videos)
youtube
𖦹°‧★ Last Movie: In terms of cinema movies The Barbie Movie it was very good, I don't think I've actually really watched any movies on streaming lately
𖦹°‧★ Sweet, spicy or savory: Sweet tbh but also the best combo is sweet + savoury and you can fight me on that (salted caramel though)
𖦹°‧★ Relationship Status: single, and likely to stay that way and i'm good with it
𖦹°‧★ Current Obsession: fandom wise still mostly TMA, FHR and The Passenger, although apparently Eddie and Elio are coming to the surface again. and then apparently my brain has been going on a bit of a philosophical/spiritual kick currently you're all getting subjected to I guess it's what happens when you finally get medicated for adhd and your brain goes OH GOOD I CAN THINK THE BIG THOUGHTS NOW AND NOT GET DISTRACTED and the autistic part of my brain is like 'I have control now >:3'
Also after playing the demo a while back I'm like 👀 at what's wrong with sunny day jack (I can't believe i've essentially gone a bit googly eyed over a big buff clown man but also)
𖦹°‧★ Last thing I googled: killstar top with mask so i could show a friend a shirt i own
this is the shirt btw

[TRANS] haru*hana (vol. 44) - Star Gravure, B.A.P
Releasing their latest Japanese single including tracks released in the same month in Korea!
B.A.P have released their 8th Japanese single “HONEYMOON”! The tracks “HONEYMOON” and “ALL THE WAY UP” are also included in their newest Korean album “BLUE”, making this a same-month release.
― “BLUE” is the concluding album to your ‘colour series’ following “NOIR” and “ROSE”, what meaning did you incorporate for it? ZL: Previously, the theme was “self-realisation”, whilst this album illustrates the “freedom” you attain through “self-realisation”. JU: The title track “HONEYMOON” is an addictive piece and the whistling in particular is very charming. We challenged a slightly different style that we’ve done before. ZL: The closer to are to the latter half, the more excited you become. “ALL THE WAY UP” is a song that makes you feel more refreshed as you listen to it, and it has a cool feeling, making it a perfect song for summer. YG: We tried a new style of dance move in the chorus part of “HONEYMOON”. Where the angles don’t perfectly match... ZL: Yes. We purposely created a lag. YG: The choreography has a falling-dominoes feel to it, so I think you’d be refreshed from it. With “ALL THE WAY UP”, we show a group dance that is unique to us who’ve come this far.
― Bang Yongguk and Zelo participated in the lyrics right? ZL: Yes, that’s right. I tried to express the message that you should have fun even though reality may be frustrating, and seek freedom through self-realisation with the lyrics “dance if you can’t avoid where the word reality comes from” in the Korean version. YG: Of course, we do incorporate various thoughts into the song, but I think the perception and understanding will differ depending on the listener, so I look forward to what message everyone perceives.
“I tried to express the message that you should have fun even though reality may be frustrating”
― The limited edition A version has the MV making included in it, but do you have any stories about filming the MV? YG: The members each discussed with the director about the parts they wanted to emphasis and we created it accordingly. There’s a scene with my hands covered in blood, representing my longing for freedom [achieved] through battles in the script, but the part where I’m meandering through the woods was filmed on the spur at the location. ZL: There’s a scene where I’m staring at the camera through a hole whilst wandering in the dark, but because I wanted to add something else to the scene, I thought up some dance moves on the spot and included them. JU: After discussing the scenes and references to freedom beforehand, I acted mainly following the script. It was difficult to do something else in the vast greens so. I worked hard on filming.
― I heard that you filmed at Jeju-do. ZL: We went to Jeju-do because we wanted to film on grasslands, but the weather changes were drastic... Between filming and interruptions, I think the staff really had it rough. We too were kept on our feet like having to prepare for filming again after taking our makeup off because the weather improved suddenly. YJ: Even though it was a nice day overall, the weather turned bad whenever it was my turn to film (laughs). HC: Yes yes. We couldn’t film at all on the first day and had to extend our stay by a day to complete the filming. We were simply on stand by whilst we waited till it was over, and then I ate and went to sleep (laughs). I was on a diet so I couldn’t each much... YJ: I ate the boiled largehead hairtail fish that they’re famous for. DH: I was on a diet too because I had my musical, but I had to eat the famed kurobuta yakiniku!
― You’ll be holding your release events at the end of September, and October. HC: It’s been a while since an event so I’m looking forward to it. We’ve only had concerts lately and the slightly shy Japanese fans who see us upfront are very cute. I want to see them soon. DH: The fans always welcome us warmly so we feel at peace whenever we go. I’m very grateful. YJ: I’m happy that we’ve had many chances to meet with the Japanese fans this year. We did our very best in preparing for the new album. Let’s create fun memories this time too!
B.A.P Colour Round-table
Seeing that their latest Korean album the final one in their colour series, we had a free talk and used keywords relating to colours for the theme. It was a fun talk time.
BLUE... Sadness Please tell us some slightly sad stories about the members! From their colour series albums... words that come to mind with colours as the theme. DH: I’m in the middle of doing a musical right now but no one has come to watch. HC: We will go~ DH: I’m not really expecting anything (laughs). Also, we’re living separately now and we get picked up individually in order when we have schedules. But there’s someone who ignores the promised time. JU: I’ll fix it. DH: Don’t lie! You haven’t changed in 6 years. JU: I’ll work on it (laughs) YJ: Lately, Jongup made some clothes and he promised to give some to me but he still hasn’t. Even though he’s given it to Himchan hyung and other celebrity friends. DH: I wonder if he doesn’t give it to unpopular people. JU: That’s not it (laughs). I don’t have any anymore. DH: Don’t lie! You wear it every day! JU: I’ve been busy because of the album so I’ll make some when I have the time. ZL: Please give me some too (laughs)
GREEN... Healing Moments where you’ve been healed because the members were there? Himchan who’s happy that members who understand him are there. HC: I don’t like singing in shared spaces at night but there’s a certain someone who absolutely does his best at singing [at those times]. But Youngjae is the only one who understand that I hate that sort of behaviour. I’m happy Youngjae is here. He’s a balm to me (laughs). JU: It’s a lie that you don’t like singing in shared spaces isn’t it. HC: I don’t like it when people sing during sleeping time. DH: But you sing when you feel like it don’t you? HC: Haa.. (sighs) Everyone, you can tell who is the one that does the singing right? Yes it’s Jongup and Daehyun! Unlike you guys, I will definitely not sing at night. DH: People who do music will just have the tendency to sing. HC: Please have some common sense even if you are a musician. (laughs) YJ: Do you sing at home too? DH: Of course YJ: No one says anything? DH: The walls are more soundproof than I thought (laughs). I warm up my throat during my morning shower and there’ve been no problems. I sing pretty loud since I live alone, but I’ve never gotten any complaints. YJ: The people at your mansion are nice. Maybe the walls are built well? DH: I heard the cries of the neighbour’s child a lot though (laughs). ZL: Maybe that kid is a fan of Daehyun hyung? DH: That’s not it (laughs).
PURPLE... Mature Moments where you look at the members and think “they’ve matured~”? Dongsaengs who continue maturing and forever young hyungs. DH: They act like an adult when it comes to work, but are like children when it’s just us, so I don’t really have times where I think “they’ve matured~” (laughs). It’s always fun when we’re together. HC: Everyone is an adult when we’re working. YJ: I work hard to act like an adult (laughs) DH: But I think I’m the one who’s more mature than when I debuted. I’ve learnt many things from the solo promotion and musical. YG: I also think that the dongsaengs have matured. YJ&DH: In other words, everyone other than Himchan hyung! (laughs). HC: I’m living a young life so I’m happy. YG: (laughs) Me and Himchan were already at a certain age when we debuted, but the other members were still young. I feel that the dongsaengs have matured now.
Keyword Talk
Keyword questions about their personal sides picked from keywords from their latest album “BLUE” and the lyrics for the songs. We also asked them about their solo activities.
“I learnt that blue has a brightness through this album” - Yongguk
#SOLO to Bang Yongguk In the midst of producing this album, were there any parts where you felt the growth of the members? Otherwise, have there been any artists that have stimulated you? YG: I feel that the members grow every time. Especially for “ALL THE WAY UP”, I felt that the versions sang by the members was greatly better than the demo. The artists and music that stimulate me change time to time, but recently, the song that Daehyun and Youngjae sang together at the Jakarta performance was very nice. It was a song called “Talk Love”. (INT: It was the OST for “Descendants of the Sun” right?) Ah, is that so? I don’t really watch dramas so... (laughs). I feel like it’s stuck in my head ever since I heard it that day.
“I want to challenge singing as well in the future!” - Zelo
#SOLO to Zelo From composing music, writing lyrics to choreographing dances, you’ve levelled up in producing, but where does your inspiration come from? ZL: My habit of taking memos. For example, I’ll note down my feelings after fighting with a friend, and use that as reference when I’m writing a song. I want to experience as many things as possible. And then I try to listen to as much varied music as I can. I’m the type to listen to something till I’m sick of it once I’m hooked. I’ve been visiting the teacher who taught me rap when I was in elementary school. He has me listening to lots of music like dance music and interesting sounds. My ears still aren’t familiar to jazz, but there’s some jazz that I can accept. I want to challenge singing in the future as well! (laughs)
#Blue This album will be the conclusion to the colour series, but what comes to mind when you hear the colour “Blue”? YG: The image of dawn with the sun just rising when I am outside, on the way home after working in the studio for a long time, comes straight to mind. Blue had a depressing image to me, but through this album, I learnt for the first time that this colour has a brighteness. JU: Beer comes to mind (laughs). A beer called “Blue Moon”. It’s not that I’m a particular fan of beer though (laughs). ZL: Cooling, refreshing, bright! YJ: Blue seas. I like the sea. Places like Okinawa. It’s not like I need to do anything there, I just like watching it. HC: The colour of the sky comes to mind. The colour at night, the colour at dusk... I want to call all those colours “blue”. Of them all I love the colour of dusk the most. I think it’s very beautiful. DH: When I heard this question, the sky and sea came straight in my head. Maybe it’s because we filmed this MV by the sea. I think that definitely played a part in the sea coming to mind.
#Film of Youth Please tell us any movies you watched growing up that moved you, or a film that was memorable lately. YG: I watched “her” [2013] twice. When people love, they usually place it on things like the body, wealth, money and such. In this movie, it illustrates love not based on a physical thing, but love through conversation with artificial intelligence. I resonated with how this may be humans in the future. JU: I watched “The Talented Mr. Ripley” on my friend’s recommendation recently. It was a somewhat unique movie that made me think. I loved the “Harry Potter” series when I was young and watched all of them! ZL: I was surprised when I watched “Aknyeo” [The Villainess, 2017] the other day. I get absorbed easily and unconsciously made imitatations [of the film]. I watched whilst thinking things like “what do I need to do to make that expression? Is it from the intensity of the makeup?”. When I was a student, the movie “Gwoemul” [The Host] was memorable. I was living in the provinces and was really scared of going to Seoul (laughs). I’d thought a monster would come out from the Han River. HC: “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. I watched it when I was a highschooler and it made me think about love. DH: For me it’s a Korean movie called “My Paparotti”. The story with the mentor is similar to mine so it tugged at my heartstrings when I watched it. YJ: The first movie I watched at the cinemas was “Marathon” [2005]. I thought it was an amazing film once again when I watched it again recently. The lead Jo Seungwoo was the same age as I am now when he filmed the movie and his acting skills are really great.
“I want to look towards the same place and smile together to promote” - Himchan
#SOLO to Himchan How about challenging a visual that you haven’t tried before? Also, any plans on solo activities? HC: I’d attached some extensions to my hair that I was growing out, but the response was very intense... It was so intense that I didn’t have the confidence to carry it and changed hairstyles immediately (laughs). I personally liked it but the response was really intense so (laughs). I changed it to a hairstyle that made me look cool. I’m thinking that it’d be nice if I could do solo activities sometime next year. Nothing’s been decided yet so I can’t say for sure... I can’t say what style it’ll even be either. But please look forward to it!
“I want to leave good results through experience and hard work” - Daehyun
#SOLO to Daehyun You’ve challenged solo promotions with “Shadow” on top of a musical. Please tell us if you feel like you’ve grown or about the things you’ve gained from the experience. DH: On the parts that I’d relied on the members previously, I had to pull through by myself and that greatly changed my thoughts and perception on what I had to do. I came to think deeper and worry more. What’s good about being alone is that it’s easy to eat and travel between schedules. (HC: But you said it was boring) Yeah. I was alone so it was boring. (INT: What did you do when you were bored?) I was simply bored. Saying “I’m bored~~” (laughs). (HC: He told us “don’t go~~” when we tried to leave.)
#Dream_will_bloom Dreams that you want to fulfill personally and dreams that you want to fulfill as a group? DH: Personally I want to accumulate good results through many experiences and hard work. As a group, just being able to promote together like this forever is enough. YJ: I want to become a good person. I want to always live with a just heart and values. I only want good things to happen. HC: Personally I want to continue growing and show my honest side. As a group, I hope for only happy things. If I were to specify a goal to achieve, [it’d be] looking towards the same place, with the [same] one heart. I hope for us all to be together an happily promote whilst smiling.
#The hidden true voice Please tell us revealing episodes and your true thoughts on members about things like “getting stood up even though you had plans together”. ZL: I say everything I want to so there’s nothing in particular [to reveal]. There’ve been times where I’ve held myself back recently, but the hyungs are kind so there’s nothing in particular... JU: Same. More like, in my case, even if there was something I don’t really remember (laughs). ALL: Hahahaha (laughs) YG: With the members’ secrets, I want to keep them as secrets forever in my heart (laughs).
“I plan to release my own composed piece in the future” - Youngjae
#SOLO to Youngjae It seems you’ve started composing with your friends, what sort of music do you tend to compose? YJ: I generally compose without a set genre in mind. I started because I wanted to compose songs I wanted to listen to, and I listen to various genres in the first place. From the pieces I’ve composed so far, there’s a sorrow ballad, a refreshing song, and lately I’ve been composing something more atmospheric. Shall I call it moody? I’m still inexperienced so there’s a lot I want to try out (laughs). So, rather than being inspired by something, it’s based on a foundation of the music I’ve listened to, my life as a singer, and dramas and such that I’ve watched. I think that I’ll most likely be revealing them in the future.
“I’ve done what I’ve wanted to the fullest” - Jongup
#SOLO to Jongup What are your thoughts on your solo promotions in June for “Try My Luck” after picking up the baton from Daehyun? JU: It was fun because I was able to do what I wanted to the fullest. I had to do everything myself, and there was the pressure that I even had to be wary of my back view, but it was fun. (INT: I’ve heard that you’ve been making clothes lately but what sort of style of clothes have you been making?) I personally like street fashion but I don’t fixate myself on that when making clothes and challenge various styles.
#HONEYMOON Please tell us your honeymoon plan that’ll make BABYz hearts throb. Or, please draw a scene from it. ZL: Going in a bath overflowing with bubbles (laughs). The black rectangular thing is a rug. HC: I want to travel around the world. To places filled with love! I don’t know where I want to go yet, so I represented that with a heart. I’ll choose where I want to go at the time and have a leisurely trip without a set plan. YG: The bed in my room is very spacious. I think lying down on my bed is the best honeymoon (laughs). DH: At a place with wide grasslands and plenty of sun, taking a stroll with my loved one and pet. I want to stroll without thinking about anything. YJ: I want to go to a resort, so here’s walking by the seaside at the resort. I don’t know if this is overseas or in Korea. I want to go somewhere quiet. JU: I can go anywhere as long as the 2 of us are together! Happiness!

I have hung out with a friend in the past month
I have a smartphone (and guess what I'm writing this tag on it right now - woah shocking!^^)
I have at least 15 CD's (more like 51 Kpop albums hah)
I share my room with someone (Yes, with a ghost who lives under my bed and her name is Sheila (jk))
RANDOM SHIT:
I have breakdanced (Minghao b-boys and I am able to admire him doing so - that is already enough to make me happy)
I have had a teacher with the last name that's hard to pronounce
I have dyed my hair (I love doing this!! My natural hair colour is brown but over the years I got red highlights, blond and black highlights, then played around with various shades of brown often with a red nuance to it, then dyed a blonde ombre, after a year changed it to purple which changed (the colour faded into other colours naturally through washing my hair) to pink, then blue to turquoise and eventually mint and then almost grey and then in June I cut my (really) long hair short to a bob and in september dyed it black (because I love black and it fits my black eyebrows^^) and now I want to stay with black and grow my hair again. Unnecessary rambling - end!)
I'm listening to one song on repeat right now (I listen to the whole teen, age album on repeat - mostly clap, bring it, flower and rocket though)
I have punched someone in the past week
I know someone who has gone to jail
I have broken a bone (yep. By falling from the couch. When I was 4 years old. On Christmas evening. Hallelujah.)
I have eaten a waffle today
I know what I want to do in my life
I speak at least 2 languages
I have made a new friend in the past year

Interview: Andy Bianculli of Star Parks
Austin, Texas is mythologised globally as a musical beacon. It is a place where musicians have fled to and been inspired by. Willie Nelson moved there in 1972 during a brief retirement which he came out of because he was so invigorated by the music scene in the city. The passionate culture of live music emanating from music fans, musicians, and venue promoters is what defines Austin, literally. The slogan for the city is, ‘The Live Music Capital of the World’ which is a well earned title as it has more music venues than any other city in the United States. It is also home to the pinnacle of festivals, South By Southwest (SXSW) which showcases the best in new music and gives a glimpse into future generations of interesting and dynamic bands. If you’re a musician and can flourish and stand out in Austin, you’re doing pretty good.
Star Parks is the Austin based musical project of Andy Bianculli, an immensely talented musician and lyricist who previously played in The Preservation (they worked with producer Brad Bell, a Grammy Award winner following his work on The Suburbs by Arcade Fire). Despite being immersed in a musical scene that is so quintessentially American that as an outsider you could be forgiven to assume is simultaneously collaborative and competitive, Star Parks defy any preconceptions characterised by their environment. This may have something to do with the various European influences informing the project. Bianculli is half-Italian and his band are signed and managed by an independent label founded and based in Dublin, Paper Trail Records. Andy plays in a Cajun band and whilst writing the songs for Star Park’s debut album, Don’t Dwell, he was listening to The High Llama’s seminal record, Hawaii. The diversity of these impacting foreign factors led to the creation of one of the finest debuts in a long time.
It’s 4pm on a Friday afternoon and I’m making my way to a cafe to call Andy to talk about his upcoming European tour. Alas, it’s closed and has been since 3pm. Luckily, there’s a quiet coffee shop nearby that serves coffee in sand-bucket quantities. After a few miss-dials and missed calls, Andy, who’s on the way to play a show in Dallas, opens up about his process in writing music, synesthesia and the prospect of embarking on a European tour without his band. It’s an easy conversation to have, as Andy is playful yet serious about his music. He’s incredibly refreshing, as is the music he makes.
I describe the night I listened to Don’t Dwell for the first time to Andy and embarrassingly stumble over my immediate infatuation with the songs. The intro to ‘Hymn for the Hopeless’, the album’s sublime opening track, made me feel like I was a teenager again and in the throws of puppy love. Lyrically, the songs are cheeky (“I can’t help it/ I like your girlfriend / I’m gonna do what I can to make her mine”) and musically they are alluring and seductive. It turns out that this wasn’t accidental. Andy laughs and reveals, “That’s funny because when we were writing those songs I would say to the band, ‘I want to make something that embodies that feeling when you’re fifteen and you ask a girl to dance with you and she actually says yes.’ Then when you’re dancing with her you’re struck by the romantic realisation and success of the situation and you’re high from the, ‘Yes! I got the girl.’” By getting the girl, he has won over a legion of fans.
Bianculli’s approach to writing is steered, to a certain extent, by his synesthesia. “When I’m working on a song I like to imagine it on a canvas. I try to see a colour wheel and I’ll tend to start with the primary bases, and visualise the sounds as colours and they have to communicate well together on the canvas. I don’t want to throw in a colour or a sound for the sake of it, especially when it’s one that just doesn’t work.” Bianculli has described Don’t Dwell as sounding distinctly blue and purple to him. Looking up the relevance and symbolism of those colours, it was striking how accurate those shades represented the stories and the overall impressions of those arrangements. Words like wisdom, confidence, extravagance, magic, mystery and independence were associated with the hues, and these feelings are abundant in the album. I ask Andy what colours characterise the forthcoming Star Park’s EP, which is due to be released some time in October.
“I really want to make dramatic, Edith Piaf style songs for the next record… Maybe ambers and oranges!”
Even though Star Parks are signed to an Irish label, their gigs this week will be their first time playing to Irish audiences. Andy admits that he’s feeling slightly apprehensive about the upcoming shows mainly because he’ll be performing the shows without his regular band, enlisting a different ensemble of musicians to play with him, albeit an undoubtedly talented bunch.
“I’m a nervous wreck about it [touring without his band]. I really enjoy the dynamic of playing as a band; the instrumental interplay, creating vocal harmonies and just everything that goes with performing. I don’t ever want it to look or feel like the songs are stagnant. But I’ll have a group of guys playing with me and it’ll be the first time that we’ll be playing the songs together.” That is not to say he isn’t excited about the gigs, he’s really looking forward to experience a new kind of crowd and reaction to his songs.
As the conversation comes to an end, Andy having to return to the road and this writer buzzed on the most coffee intense high, you can detect that nervous excitement in his tone about playing to a brand new audience and hopefully take them with him as Star Parks’ sound continues to develop and grow.
