*blows into a paper bag repeatedly*
I just need a moment.
I was squealing all through today's episode. If I start writing a meta as long as yesterday's, my fingers are gonna fall off because i liked every single thing. So here's an abriged version.
What I liked most is not only are they validating and making canon every fanfiction, they picked the top few to actually show.
I'm just imagining them going on ao3 and taking down notes from the most used tropes and headcanons.
I mean, Kajorn and Phat? Secretly dating TiwPor?
What I also liked is the hint here that in any Universe, Tinn fell first. Or in the original Universe, Gun fell first. I'm happy with either.
My prediction that this scene would be more funnier than the original one? Well, feels good to be right. "Hi, Mr. Handsome President"? They're so whipped for each other.
I also like how the bold, confident Tiw is a little shy babygirl here :D
One scene I was hoping would be a little different is the jogging scene; what if Gun carried Tinn in this one? I'm not unhappy with this one, but just a thought.
This is my favourite scene:
[Unmute :D Do NOT repost; I'll do more than find you]
In the original show, when Gun's mother tells him everything Tinn has done for him and he goes to search for the school president and the realization for that one moment that he might've lost him for good: that is when Gun really falls for Tinn.
Here, while it is similar, like everything in this universe, it is also slightly different. This time, they both run towards each other, and Tinn asks Gun to cross the line: a confession in his own way. In the og universe, Tinn had crossed the line first.
I loved that whole scene, especially the little references to their romantic moments in the og universe.
Speaking of the hospital scene, I'm glad they didn't use the same trope twice and Mae was only sleeping.
Moving on to the MV. When Por was announcing the couples, I was like wait. wAIT A MINUTE 😶🤨
It took me all of three whole seconds to make out the series. I don't know what to make of that.
If you haven't realized the series yet (very unlikely that you don't know at least one of them), they are He's Coming To Me (Tinn and Gun), Bad Buddy (Sound and Win) and A Tale Of A Thousand Stars (Tiwson and Por). All of these, are, coincidentally directed by the one and only P'Aof.
I was not surprised at the Bad Buddy scenes they chose, but I was a little surprised to see the rooftop scene without angst in the next few seconds (that SoundWin scene counts as a confession and not angst). The original scene had made me cry and I'd stopped watching the series all together when something brought me back and I'm eternally grateful I returned.
Anything else? Hmm..
Oh yes, I liked the glimpse into the future. And that doll and the fact that Gun is a jealous boyfriend in every Universe and Tinn loves him for it.
I have made four clips today and all of the remaining three are linked in this post.
If you want more clips, requests are always open :D
Fun fact: I can make gifs but don't simply because I prefer clips.

since i saw you have so many zuck post and i'm a little bit invest in it like you so i want to ask some question about threads since i don't want to have another social media because i have so much now
1. does moskovitz actually interact with zuck there? i saw them following each other
2. does saverin made an account and followed zuck?? since i don't know if that is his real account, tbh if he actually followed zuck, became one of the new users on threads i'd be surprised because i thought he already didn't care much about either fb or meta in general
also I saw zuck posting tsn reference there for threads and commenting gif of tsn too
sorry for my sloppy english, hope you reply
Hi anon! Thank you for your ask!
What I need everyone on Tumblr to know is that Mark is basically trying to reinvent himself. He's been the butt of a lot of jokes for about a decade now, and this bout with Elon, and Elon's fumbling of Twitter, has presented a prime opportunity for Mark to reboot his public image. This means he's responding to people's posts on Threads, making jokes, and yes, referencing The Social Network.
Now to your questions:
Yes! Dustin and Mark are actually still really close. Dustin's mentioned going on vacation with Mark fairly regularly (for whatever that means for them). Dustin had access to the pre-release launch of Threads and was user # 3037 (as indicated on his Instagram account), and he generally talks about Mark a lot, mostly to defend him/hype him up. He's been talking about Mark a lot lately, because of the drama with Musk and with the launch of Threads, but Mark has been pretty consistently mentioned in his Twitter posts, going back for years. Dustin seems to be particularly excited about Threads, probably because he feels let down by Twitter and the promise of Bluesky, and also because Dustin still owns a 0.6% stake in Meta, which is worth something like $5 billion. Dustin as well as other early Facebook employees have expressed a feeling of nostalgia and excitement akin to the early days of the company, both from the product development side as well as from the consumer side. Anyway, it seems that Dustin's penchant for micro-blogging and Mark's role to promote Meta's new app have combined and allowed them to publicly communicate for the first time in at least a decade. It has been, honestly, delightful to watch. See the bottom of the post for screenshots of their interactions.
Judging by the Instagram account linked to the Threads account, Saverin really is following Mark. (I judged whether or not the Insta account was real by scrolling through who he follows: some weather accounts, someone with the last name that's the same as his wife, someone who's either a sister or cousin, Fox News. These interests correspond with the types of accounts he follows on Twitter; it's most likely really him.) I agree, it is kinda of insane that Saverin joined so early; it's possible he sold the rest of his shares because B Capital got a big infusion of money at the end of 2022, which corresponds with the fund they raised earlier this year. It's also possible he converted his shares from Class A to Class B, but this move still loses him power. He doesn't really have any incentive to be interested in Meta, not anymore. And yet, Saverin was just under the 2 millionth member to join Threads (1,920,187). Taking into account that 30 million people(/brands) joined Threads in the first day, Saverin was an early adopter. At the same time however, in addition to likely not having any financial interest in the company, Saverin doesn't post very often on Twitter (most of which are reposts of articles) and has only ever posted to Instagram twice, and not since 2014 at that. It's interesting to me that he apparently cares so much to be on Threads so early since he doesn't seem to be that fond of micro-blogging or Instagram anyway. At the least, he is a private person, more private than even Mark has ever been, and he is likely on Threads to lurk rather than to post. Which brings me to the point that Saverin is following Mark. He's also following a number of influential Meta people, including important early employees (none of them follow him back). Combined with the fact that Saverin consistently puts "Facebook co-founder" at the top of all of his bios, regardless of his current projects and investments, this paints an image of a petty man who wants to be relevant. It may be interesting that Saverin follows Mark, but don't expect anything to come of it. Saverin lost his chance to make any amends with Mark and anyone else a long time ago.
Bonus: Mark posting a TSN gif? For some reason?? Even though the post he was replying to didn't even mention TSN? (it's a screenshot of the gif of the moment when Eduardo gives Mark the money to go to Palo Alto for the summer while they're hiring interns)
#idk if you were prepared for a post this long but that's what you're getting lol#once again a friendly reminder that if you (person reading this) make lizard/robot/etc jokes about Mark I Will block you#it is not funny#it is antisemitic and dehumanizing#also you can tell I don't like eduardo irl because i refer to him as saverin lmao#zuck posting#threads#mark zuckerberg#dustin moskovitz#eduardo saverin#disclaimer: I am on threads Exclusively to find out more tech stuff#a lot of tech people (reporters; founders; engineers; etc) are flocking to threads and I am taking advantage of it#yes that Is dustin making a tsn reference and mark practically acknowledging it

Since I did say "more on this later" but now it’s later and i’m not sure i remember what exactly i wanted to say....... so this might be kinda rambly, sorry
But an idea that @animate-mush brought up in in her liveblogging, and that I’m definitely feeling in my watch, is that in season 1 of leverage the framing is very much that Nate is the Protagonist, the Serious Character with a Serious Backstory, and the rest of the team are Silly Criminals with their Amazing Talents but also Silly Quirks. You do get occasional sense of dramatic depth -- e.g. Parker’s concerns over the orphans in Serbia, and Hardison comforting her, digging into their histories growing up in foster care. But it’s mostly played for laughs -- Parkers “kleptomania” in the 12-step job (if that’s even real, I’m of 2 minds there), Sophie’s highly variable acting skills, Elliot’s heartbreaker history (also that “what were you doing” “liberating Croatia” joke -- not strictly impossible, but pretty implausible to me that Elliot’s old enough to have participated in the Croatian war for independence!! Maybe the line was meant to refer to the Balkan conflicts of the 90s more generally??)
anyways, I think this a bad framing, because Nate’s backstory and characterization come off at least as silly as the rest of them. Not the bare summary of it -- his son died, his life fell apart in recrimination and guilt, that’s pretty tragic, he’s still running instead of facing his grief and mistakes in handling it -- but a lot of the details don’t really add up, and the actual presentation on the show has a lot of narm. I think it would be easier to stomach if the show wasn’t trying so hard to convince us to take Nate’s pain more seriously than anyone else’s.
Season 2 seems to be taking steps to address this -- first, by having Nate show some signs of progress, and second by giving him a bit more of a back seat. Well, not the opening ep, that was very Nate-centric (and in very silly ways -- the flipping over exploding car?!), but the Tap-Out Job and the Order 23 Job had more serious character beats for Elliot, and the Fairy Godparents Job had some real good moments for Sophie!
Specifically on Elliot -- I mentioned before that this is a show I’m coming into with a lot of “fandom context” -- while I didn’t read most of the discussions very carefully but I’ve been seeing a lot of fandom things for this show since I really got into online fandom in 2020. One of the things I’ve picked up by fandom osmosis is that Elliot is a fan-favorite, with some major angst.
“There’s a lot of good Eliot Spencer meta going around (which is what has inspired this) and the take home that he is not redemption seeking. He is assured in his damnation and is choosing to do good anyway, because at this point why not?”
and this is BIZARRE to read with only season 1 for context, because there is NOTHING angsty about Eliot in season 1. He’s a tough guy, he’s been involved in a lot of violence, but it’s always played for jokes, like Parker stealing the Hope Diamond and putting it back because she’s bored. It really sounds like the fandom is talking about a completely unrelated character. But we’re starting to see hints of... something... in s2, e.g. with Elliot explaining to Sophie in the Tap Out job that he’s sees fighting as a way to get back some control over your life. I’m eager to see what happens in the later seasons that leads to the fanon understanding of Elliot.

Do you really think it's okay to block a blog just for disagreeing with you though?
Uh.
Yes. Yes, I very much do.
As far as I am concerned, you can block a blog for whatever reason you want to. That's what the block button is for. Granted, I think most of us do it because of negative feelings - sort of like a "block the terrible people" as opposed to a "unfollow someone you are just meh about" but there's no guideline, no rules. This is Tumblr, man. It's the fucking Wild West of social media. Do as thou wilt.
Look, if I wanted to start up some kind of war with that little punk I would have reblogged the condescending bullshittery he dumped all over my original post. I didn't. It wasn't worth it to me. I did take a look at his blog and he's not someone I would ever follow in the first place - he uses really misogynistic tags, for one thing, and for another, he writes meta on stuff like Sonic the Hedgehog and shoujo anime I've never even heard of (that's not a read from the woman whose special interest is a 10 year old cartoon, just an acknowledgement that we don't have the same interests). He's never followed me, insofar as I know, and wasn't following me when he dug up that 6 year old post to respond to it. If anything, I am just sort of impressed he managed to dig that up. It was 6 years old! It had a paltry few likes and only one reblog! It's legit amusing to me.
That being said, however, I blocked him because I just don't want him crapping all over any of my other posts. That's all. I've had other people reblog my posts and they've added some stuff that I roll my eyes at but whatever. Like I can tell you, I do not at all like all of that UWU SO GAY 。ᵘ ᵕ ᵘ 。crap that people add to my fanfic posts because I don't like the relationships between queer people infantilized but I'm not going to block someone over it. I've also had people disagree with my posts and I've done some serious eye rolling at what they've written but just let it be. Nobody has to agree with me and posts here are rebloggable and if you don't like that then you are on the wrong site. But if you are going to take a hot steaming turd on my posts and call me dumb? Why the actual fuck wouldn't I block you? That makes no sense to me.
I've been blocked as well. I only know about it because I've tried to follow a link or see who has reblogged my post and while Tumblr doesn't tell you you've been blocked it's pretty easy to figure it out. Whatever. It's fine. I mean that, too. It's fine. Once or twice I've been like, dude, what did I ever do to that person? but it's not a big deal. They don't want me interacting and it's all good. For real.

2021 Creator Self-Love Extravaganza!
Tagged by @randowwriter (This is actually really sweet and exactly what I needed so thank you for tagging me <3)
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works (fics, art, edits, etc.) you’ve created this year and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world in 2021. If you don’t have five published works, that’s fine! Include ideas/drafts/whatever you like that you’ve worked on/thought about, and talk a little about them instead! Remember, this is all about self-love and positive enthusiasm, so fuck the rules if you need to. Have fun, and tag as many fellow creators as you like so they can share the love! <3
This is actually kinda hard cause I only wrote 7 fics (or started anyways) but I am kinda excited to go through them. I only started writing again back in November and when I think about the progress I made in just two months, I'm filled with all sorts of joy and excitement
Batter Up, Buttercup - PRPR post Glaciator 2, WIP
I still can't believe this fic gave me the courage to write and share my insane ideas. I started with a few scenes that I just couldn't get out of my head so I tapped into my notes app and then it grew from there. I'm so excited to continue this fic because I get to play with some of my fave tropes and explore things I've always wanted to read about, and yeah, I'm super excited.
Soft Like Sunshine - Anxious Marinette fic, during Ephemeral (WIP)
Literally a labor of love that causes me great pain yet tremendous joy when writing. I will put it down for weeks and think of it as trash but at the same time, it feels the most me, you know? I genuinely think I out part of myself into this fic and it helped me explore my own anxieties. I'm still kind of bummed about how it hasn't done as well as my other fics, but I think I'm reaching a point where if it doesn't that's okay. It's a hard fic to read, almost as hard as it was to write, but I'm glad I got to explore a different writing style about a topic I love. I'm on the home stretch now, getting the climax done and I'm excited to share it with everyone! The comments I have gotten tell me a few people resonate with it, and that's all I wanted.
Fool Me Twice, Shame on YOU - Ephemeral Reveal (Oneshot)
Another Epheral fic! I gotta thank the anon who suggested Chat thinking it was all an elaborate plot by Mothman. I still can't believe I wrote it all in one sitting, but it was so much fun to write! I was smiling the whole time! I still reread it sometimes and laugh at what I wrote, it was just so fun! It was also the fic that made me realize I'm supposed to like reading what I write. So yeah, an extra special place in my heart.
Sentiadrien Theory as a Narrative for Trauma Healing - Meta
Am I including a meta? Yes, yes I am. I'm so incredibly proud of this meta. For one, it was the first time I had been able to discuss my ideas of psychology in ML. For another, it actually helped people!!!!! I still can't believe I was able to provide comfort to folks who struggled with this theory, and for that I'm so incredibly excited and grateful, especially to the folks at the gamma squad because I wrote it out for them first and they all showered me with praise. I'm glad I was able to provide some comfort for people, it's all I ever want to do.
Blanc Out - WIP, not published
For the last one, I bring up an idea I've been thinking about since the summer. It's a Chat Blanc AU. As Adrien finds himself getting closer and more in love with Marinette, he finds himself getting grey hair too. He starts to lose time, periods where he blacks out and all the while his hair begins to turn snow white as he deals with his confusing feelings for Marinette. Meanwhile, Marinette gets a nightly visitor, in the form of her chaton....but something is different about him...
I'm sooooooo excited about this fic. I'd been thinking about it for AGES and now I'm actually in the planning stages. It's a long long way away from getting posted, but this is partially the reason why I've been practicing and trying new styles. I want to improve to a place where that fic is something I can be excited to share. I also get to write about my favorite concept in ML and it's just ahhhhhh I can't wait!
Again, thanks for the tag!!!
Tagging: @sketchy-panda @thesquipproject @sparklylovegiver @coccinelle-et-chaton @dandelionrumpancake @ladyofthenoodle @karkalicious769 @alexseanchai @galahadwilder @cardcq @inimoo
and honestly, anyone else who is looking for some positivity (I consider your original works part of this ;) )!!!! This gave me loads and now I'm gonna go and write more of SLS :)
#dsfdlkfdhsjf idk if the tags are working we will see#this was fun thank you <3#bushy writing#tag game#miraculous ladybug#ml s4

Ok so I might have gone a little overboard but I watched HSMTMTS S1 again today and noted down all the talking head segments and the in-scene 4th-wall breaks (which I'm calling "Halperts") and then I made some graphs.
Gonna do S2, too, 'cause this started because I wanted data on whether there were more Halperts in S1 than S2, and whether Miss Jenn was generally the butt of those jokes, but the results may surprise you!!!
Ok so first off, in S1 I counted 74 talking head segments and ONLY FOURTEEN times someone mugged for the camera in a scene.
My counting criteria for talking heads was that the "interview setting" had to be unique; this means that the several cuts to the Nini and Ricky segments at the top of the pilot only counted as one each.
Also, any time a segment contained more than one character, that counts as a segment for each one. Not a super accurate way of doing it for the overall total, but in S1 it only happened one time, where Carlos walks behind Ashlyn, and I'm using it to balance out the truly bizarre one where Ricky starts Halperting but then he actually starts talking to the camera even though he's in a room full of people and it breaks my brain.
Also, I gave Gina a combined point for trying to look at the camera while she wasn't fully in frame (but we made eye contact, I assure you), and in that same episode she mugs directly into the camera but it's diegetic that she's not looking at the camera but rather at the Homecoming poster so there's that.
Below you can see that they lead hard with the mockumentary shtick, and it truly fell off almost immediately as the heavier storylines started landing. 1x4 is the one where Ricky finds out his mom's moving to Chicago, for example.
Next up answers the question "who had the most segments?" I was actually kind of surprised to see Ricky won by a small margin, as I do believe that the showrunners intended to split the difference between its leads in Nini's favor (as opposed to the 80/20 Troy/Gabriella split of the films). I think, though, that both characters are approached slightly differently by the narrative, where Nini is more even-keel natural and Ricky swings either full sitcom or full prime-time drama.
(Also Seb only had the one, as well. The graph decided not to include his label because it's homophobic I guess)
The above notwithstanding, I also was sort of interested in who spent the most time talking to the camera in each episode, and then who ranked highest among that group. And here finally Nini comes in first! She had four episodes, nearly half of the season, where she had the highest number of segments in the episode.
EDIT: I was looking at my S1 data and realized I hecked up a formula in the spreadsheet, and correcting it unfortunately removed Nini’s big S1 win for having the most episodes in which she had the most talking heads. This blog apologizes for publishing erroneous data; the real results are that Natalie, Nini, Ricky, Big Red, and Ashlyn are all tied with one episode each. The other five episodes are ties. The graph below is a lie.
Ok now we're going to look at the in-scene 4th-wall breaks. This is when a character does something oddball and another character expresses that they found the behavior odd by giving the camera a look.
The numbers don't lie. This doesn't happen NEARLY as often as I thought it did. And it really only happens in "comedy" scenes; as insinuated by the drop off of talking heads, the style of the show follows its content into more serious waters pretty early on, and then sort of stays there. What I mean is, 1x6 has more musical dramedy in its DNA than mockumentary.
Ok, so it's not happening all that much, but who's doing it when it happens? Spoilers: it's Ricky.
And basically only Ricky! That's sort of what I mean by him being more sitcommy. Outside of him and Miss Jenn, who is specifically the most cartoonish character of the entire cast, no one else does it more than once. Even Big Red just has the one fearful look into the camera!!! Nini has NONE!
So, final thought, what are they reacting to when they need to share their experience with the audience. Here's where I got results I Could Not Have Predicted:
That Miss Jenn is more often than not the butt of the joke was a data point I totally expected, what I didn't expect was that every time Miss Jenn has an aside with the camera, she's not reacting to anything. She just knowingly breaks the fourth wall for no discernible reason. The only other character to do this is Lucas playing Lucas referencing that he played Ryan*. I think there must be something meta going on here, with the non-teen performers descending on this high school with all kinds of worldly wisdom -- like Ricky will look at the camera because it's funny for him to do that; Miss Jenn will look at the camera because she's aware she's a character on a tv show.
Oh, the only other sort of surprise about the who and what is that, yes, this cinematic trope is generally played for humorous, mildly-intolerant reasons, but the exception to this is twice Ricky shared a kind of "yikes!" reaction with us -- first when the Gina/EJ drama boiled over at Homecoming, and later when he was overwhelmed by his own behavior. These were not jokes! We were not meant to laugh with him or even at him! So interesting.
Super interested in seeing how the structure/content of S2 compares. Without the hard data, my reckoning was that S1 was way more jokesy and S2 way more earnest, but honestly now I bet they'll be about the same. Will have to wait a couple weeks for the season to wrap up, though. Catch you then, Wildcats!
*EDIT2: Also realized today that I probably should not have included Lucas-as-Lucas’ S1 Halpert since it occurred within a dream sequence and things that happen in dreams don’t really follow the same diegetic/non-diegetic rules. I will do a cleaner, more nuanced data analysis for both S1 and S2 once the season wraps up, and link it here. In hindsight, this one was a little slapdash.

I'm new to manga and while I'm proficient at analysing other forms of literature, I'm finding it difficult to analyse manga, probably because of the artistic component. Do you have any advice on what to focus on when reading manga in order to analyse it well? If this question is too vague, you can disregard it, I am only asking because I find your analyses to be excellent.
Omg 🥺 It’s not vague! It seems like we’re opposites. I’m not well versed in literature, or writing in general, but I am an artist--which is why I love manga. I’ve been reading manga since I was 11 and I’m 24 now (I’m a nerd), so I’ve gotten pretty decent at knowing which panels the mangaka wants us to pay attention to! I’ll give some of the best examples I can think of off the top of my head.
So obviously you know by now that manga is all black and white. We do get some colored sheets every now and then that also have meaning (I’ll link to that post later), and I love when the authors give us those, but for the most part it’s all black and white. If you’re going to try to grasp the tones and meanings behind certain scenes in manga, the BEST advice I can give you is to pay extra attention to the shading more than anything else. Let me use the best examples I can think of when it comes to shading.
So look at Hawks here. Hawks is a hero, yes? A good guy, right?
Well...does he look like a good guy here? I’d say no. This use of shading was absolutely deliberate on Horikoshi’s part. I think we can all agree this was a really dark moment for Hawks (no pun intended). He stooped to a level nobody ever wanted him to, a level Hawks himself never wanted to. This scene being drawn this way tells us that we as readers are NOT supposed to approve of Hawks’s actions here. And NOW, because of the way this scene was drawn for us, all we are left to assume is that something bad is coming for Hawks. Basically, the consequences of his actions have not hit him yet. So even though we haven’t seen those consequences yet (it’s really frustrating waiting ngl), we know that we can expect there to be something dark in Hawks’s future. Many other meta bloggers predict his death, him dying heroically in order to make up for killing Twice. And man, that is very much possible, however I’m still waiting to see what more develops in Hawks’s arc before I make that prediction. Hori hasn’t given me any reason to believe that he’d actually kill off an important hero for the sake of the writing...yet.
Another example, and probably my favorite panel of Shigaraki so far because it’s gorgeously drawn (and sad as hell):
This panel is supposed to make you feel his despair. He’s surrounded by a black, static background, his figure is drawn with an insane amount of detail. You can tell just by looking at it that Horikoshi put a significant amount of effort into this one panel compared the ones that came right before it:
This is same scene, same chapter as the panel above, but the background and shading is totally different. I’m only showing this panel here to point out how important the panel above it is in comparison. One is a panel that is simply moving the chapter forward, the other is meant to stop you for a moment and make you react to it. Horikoshi made sympathetic villains, and that panel of Shigaraki practically begging people to understand was meant to evoke that sympathy from the readers to prepare them for his redemption.
There are probably a million examples from BNHA I could use to show you the importance of shading but I’m going to move over to one of my all time favorites: FMA
So this lovely fellow below, Roy Mustang, is a protagonist in Fullmetal Alchemist. Fullmetal Alchemist is a series with similar values to BNHA. It acknowledges the value of the human life. It acknowledges that once someone is dead, you can’t bring them back. It acknowledges that murder is wrong, no matter the reason.
Also, similar to how BNHA punishes the villains for their quest for revenge over and over again, FMA also portrays to readers the dangers of following the paths of revenge. There are two characters in FMA that show us that danger, one of which is Roy.
This is a big moment for Roy because he just discovered the person responsible for his best friend’s death. And now he’s out for blood. But this panel above tells you that this is a BAD IDEA. Shrouding him in darkness, not showing his entire face, hiding him in the shadows--it tells you that he’s on a dark path now.
Look here, this is kind of similar to how Hawks was portrayed above. Roy is standing over someone who he clearly has power over, someone he is about to kill out of revenge. Envy is a major antagonist in FMA right until his death, but simply because of the way Roy is drawn here, devoid of human emotion because again, you can’t see his face, Envy is almost sympathetic when he finally does die. (BTW, he does not die at Roy’s hand). Roy is a protagonist in this series, but here he’s drawn looking incredibly evil and scary--for a reason. You’re not supposed to approve of his actions. Roy set out for revenge and his narrative consequences came not too long after this chapter. So basically, just like with any other story:
character does something we know is supposed to be bad-----> something bad happens to character as a result
I’ll give one more example from a story that is not similar to BNHA or FMA in the slightest, but still uses that dark shroud in the same manner.
Say hi to Shigure from Fruits Basket. Shigure is kind of...an anti hero? He’s a real asshole. Now Fruits Basket is shojo and the stakes aren’t near as high or dramatic as BNHA so the tone is a bit different. But even with one panel here of this guy’s face, you get that dark, cynical vibe from him. And well, he is dark and cynical. If you read the story from the beginning up until here you can tell that he’s a shady dude (no pun intended again I’m so sorry), and low and behold he is one of the more questionable characters in this series. But this one darkly shaded panel is the introduction to that dark side of him as a character.
Basically in manga shading is tell all for how you’re supposed to interpret a situation. But aside from shading, the SIZE of the panels are also important. Those Hawks panels above took up entire pages. That Shigaraki panel took up an entire page. Those panels of Roy took up an entire page. Obviously the author wants you to pay attention to the story those panels are trying to tell. The words of the characters matter too, but sometimes you have characters whose words you can’t take at face value (*cough cough* Dabi *cough*) so you sometimes have to go off of the artwork alone.
Aside from the manga itself, mangakas also release colored prints along with their series. A lot of times these prints don’t have much to do with the events within the story, but sometimes they do. And I talked here about how Horikoshi really correlated all of his art of Shigaraki with the current place in his arc, and about how now that Shigaraki’s redemption is underway, he’s drawing Shigaraki in such a way that shows him growing closer to his hero counterpart who is currently on his way to save him, and also just portraying him in a less villainous manner than before. This isn’t always the case though. But Horikoshi did it and when that last color spread came out I got so excited I kind of just rambled with excitement lol.
SO I know it wasn’t much to go on but I really hope this helps you a bit more and what you were looking for! Shading is the most important since it’s all black and white, and then panel size is important too.
I hope you read more manga and join us in this hell! Lol

Heyy I'm that anon about 3.9 Also sorry for the misunderstanding ig? But both of you do such an amazing job together especially the 3.12 meta!! Gave me so many insights. Ig what I was looking for was the 'flirt'ing aka talk thing that happened between buck and Eddie in the kitchen.. WHat was THaT. Omg yayy. Cannot wait to read all that you've written about 3a and 3b. :))
Hi Nonnie and yay, glad to hear from you! :D And don’t worry about it because yes, @riarklus really does an amazing job with the gifs, she’s so freaking talented and our fandom is so much better for having her in it. I’m forever hearteyes over her creations! <333
I am so happy you liked the 312 meta post, I can’t repeat that enough. One of my faves! Any insight I may have, it’s my pleasure to share with you! xoxox
So if you check out AO3, you’ll see my old meta was divided into 33 parts and I just checked, what I had to say about 309 was in parts 29 & 30, which means it’ll take me a while to get to re-posting them on AO3. I do have links for where I originally posted these, which is Twitter and I can link you to those if you’d like me to.
But honestly, there IS NO REASONABLE HETEROSEXUAL EXPLANATION. I mean, yes, there is, kinda, if you tilt your head and squint twice. Eddie is upset, Buck is his friend, Buck wants to cheer him up, Buck suggests playing video games to distract Eddie from his pain. So far, so heterosexually good. But it’s really in the way that he does it, isn’t it? It’s his body language - the little strut over to Eddie, the invasion of his personal space, Buck’s hand on his belt buckle, the slight thrust of his hips forward, the way he plays with his head movements and tone (I swear, I compared it with the way Buck uses those when he flirts with Taylor Kelly and it’s the same freaking body language to the T, including the supposedly-bashful little look down and then back up again). It’s all so freaking flirtatious, I’m shocked these two are still oblivious morons. And then you have Eddie’s reaction which, you know. If this is just bros being dudes, he should be able to verbally react freely, but his reaction, especially at the end, is basically one long *gulp*. There’s tension there and you can cut it with a knife and not even the knife is heterosexual anymore, since these two are so bi for each other.
And then if you wanna talk about the emotional significance of this scene, it’s so loaded, too! Buck sees Eddie as being someone that he needs to be there to save, and he insists on apologizing again when Eddie isn’t used to being treated like that. Shannon never apologized, just demanded to know when she’d be forgiven, yet here is Buck, apologizing not once, but twice, even after being forgiven. His strength in being able to do this is so breathtaking in this scene. Also, I think after 315, after we have a better understanding of how destructive Eddie’s parents have been for his self confidence (and they never apologized either as far as we know), it makes Buck’s insistence on showing Eddie how much he matters even more meaningful and beautiful. Eddie keeps feeling like he’s a failure, like he’s not enough, with Shannon, in Afghanistan, with Chris... But to Buck, he is more than important enough to do this for. And Eddie is so emotional about this whole thing that he really can’t react normally, he can only resort to deflecting quips and long silences and sipping on his beer thinking of Buck’s kissable lips. Not to mention, what Buck is offering ends up being exactly what he needs. It’s not just a game night, not just a distraction from the pain, it’s a sense of home and family and belonging and love and being seen and cared about. It’s a moment Eddie treasures so much, it’s one of those that play out in his mind as he’s drowning and it helps give him the will to go on fighting in order to get back to that family. It’s amazing.
OMG, Nonnie. I apologize, this answer is a mess! But so am I, every time I think of that unbelievable kitchen scene. I hope it gave you some satisfaction anyway! Feel free to let me know. xox

Destiel Chronicles
Vol. XXXVIII
It was a love story from the very beginning.
I can't be mad at you.
(8x21/8x22 1st part)
Hello my friends!!! We are so close to finish season 8!!!! I can't believe how far we have come with these series of metas! I'm emotional right now... 😢💚💙
I had to put episode 22 in two parts so I can analyze in a better way.
I want to say thank you to my friend @agusvedder because she made the gifs for this meta, Thank you girl!! 😘💕💕
Now let's start talking about Castiel... And how after ran away, he had Dean present...
Smart Heart and Beer
In episode 8x21 The Great Escapist (Edlund's) we are in front of a great strategist as Castiel is. He was avoiding the angel using the different locations of Biggerson's restaurant.
He had a little chat with one of the waitress, and asked for an interesting dish with tempura...
KARA: Uh, I'm sorry, mister, but you're gonna have to order more than coffee if you wanna keep the table.
CASTIEL: Of— of course, um. [glances at a menu] I'll have the smart-heart beer-battered tempura tempters.
KARA: Of course. Coming right up.
Read at that dish choice, the name is so symbolic... Smart heart... Is Castiel battered in beer... Is Dean.
Even knowing he had to left Dean behind, choosing the was decision over any other emotion, Cas is still battered in beer, he's still thinking about Dean and what he did to him. We will know better in episode 8x22 when he will try to fix things with the hunter.
What other proof do we have to say Cas was thinking about Dean, to protect him, and missing him and worried about how Dean would be feeling now? Well... This scene right here ...
Who's that good friend? Obviously he is talking about Dean, so, we had two comments Cas made about Dean. Proofs that he had him in mind, worried about him... Gawd... Destiel is gonna be the death of me... I'll be writing Destiel metas from my grave when I get old and die.
Castiel is special
The whole conversation Cas had with Naomi was revealing to us, because we understood there how many time the angel tried to control Castiel's rebellious and unpredictable behavior.
CASTIEL: We were supposed to be their shepherds, not their murderers.
NAOMI: Not always, angel. There was that day, back in Egypt, not so long ago, where we slew every first-born infant whose door wasn't splashed with lamb's blood. And that was just PR.
The word angel here, is used with irony, because it seems Castiel had an odd idea about what an angel should be. Against what an angel really is. Castiel talks about a divine and Righteous mission, angels should follow, is the same thing he said to Hester, because he really believes it. But Naomi knows that's an utopia. And that mission isn't in their priorities.
CASTIEL: Well, I wasn't there.
NAOMI: Oh, you were there. You just don't remember it.
NAOMI: (...)You have never done what you were told. Not completely. You don't even die right, do you? Where is the angel tablet, Castiel?
Naomi is just naming and naming what she thinks is failures of Castiel... But those are not failures... Those are characteristics that not angel has, and that's what make Castiel unique. Hated and Loved by his own kind.
Sam in front of too much Destiel drama
Okay, jumping now to episode 8x22 Clip Show, at the beginning of this episode we had a Destiel fight... It was very hard, because ... Poor Sammy was there... But ...
First of all we have to pay attention to the first scene... We had this character Tommy, from Wendigo episode in season 1, and there was this line...
GIRL: I can't believe you finally came up here with me.
TOMMY COLLINS: Why wouldn't I?
This is like the feeling inside Dean right now... He can't believe Castiel is back, but he can show him he's happy, because he's mad at the same time, and he need to show him how hurt he's, like a lesson, a hard one. Because he's so in love, he needs to overreact to it...
Dean's reaction is too way too much my friends, for just a buddy mad at his buddy, you know? Like... Dean was the jiltter lover here, I'm telling you... Look at this scene...
Ugh... Cold war my friends... Look how I'm ignoring you, because Dean is a schoolgirl in love, he will apply the cold war on Cas...
CAS: (...)I like this bunker. It's orderly.
SAM: Oh, give us a few months. Dean wants to get a ping-pong table.
CASTIEL: I've heard of that. It's a game, right?
Okay, why I'm pointing this out? Because a ping pong warnof cold words is about to start between CAS and Dean.
Ohhh this quote... The "I can go with you" a classic... But it doesn't work this time...
DEAN: Everything? Like, uh... Like ignoring us?
CASTIEL: Yes.
And here is when the US/WE gets started... Dean, heartbroken as he was, he confessed his feelings for Castiel and he was REJECTED, he saw Castiel didn't trust him, so he covered his soul again with this armor, pushing his feelings down, and there will be no more YOU AND ME, but this shield named YOU, ME, AND DAM. WE / US .
And he said it... He said what it hurted so much... But that's no everything... He said I NEED YOU, and Cas didn't respond to that, "I GAVE YOU NU HEART AND YOU JUST SMASHED IT".
That's why there's not apologize that would work with Dean right now.
Oooooohhh boom! Okay... That's one of the things, I think, Dean likes from CAS. Castiel is always trying to do the right thing. But right now... That's one of the things it took him away. So... Yeah... He's being hard with Castiel. He needs Castiel to realize how hurted he was... He needed Castiel to be worried about it. To recognize what he did to him by running away, after he confessed, and not trust him. Just the same feeling he had when he came back from Purgatory...
And the eye fucking... Okay guys...this is too much...
And pray for Sammy please. And the subtext in his words... "Do we have a room 7B?" Immediately after the old married couple fight and the eye fucking... Is reflecting his truly thoughts... "Guys... Just get a room."
Once Sam and Dean were alone, Sammy tried to be a mediator between them, but there was not resolution, Dean was very hurted, more hurted than mad, even if Sam said he should forgive him BECAUSE IS CAS.
But even so we had this scene...
Obviously we know who made that pop corn to CAS, right? It was Dean... Maybe after Sam's words... Okay... Dean can't be mad at him... For too long.
Crazy love is crazy...
But also... Castiel eating popcorn, could work as a foreshadow for Human!Cas.
Miscellaneous
The whole meaning with curing a demon, was a foreshadow for Demon!Dean and the way they will cure Dean. Even Crowley tasting the humanity, will be a Castiel mirror, and a foreshadow for Human!Castiel too.
To Conclude:
Castiel is a smart angel, he takes war decisions and is a very clever strategist.
He is different form other angel, and the things Naomi marked as failures in him, is what make Castiel unique.
Cas was away from Dean, but subtextually he named him twice while he was in his dangerous mission, what makes us infer, he was aware and thinking about Dean, and he knew his actions towards him will have some consequences.
Dean acted like a jiltter lover. He felt abbandoned and betrayed and rejected by Castiel in the crypt, after he manifested his feeling for him, so, it wouldn't be easy for him to forgive Castiel.
Even so, we saw he prepared pop corn for CAS .. like a contradictory behavior towards him, but a delicate attention to his friend. Also, Castiel eating pop corn could work as a foreshadow for Human!Castiel.
Hope you liked this, see you in the next Chronicles.

20 for the meta asks
20.) Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
I answered this here as well, but focused mostly on my obsession with foreshadowing, and since I love to talk, I'm going to come at this question from a different angle this time!! This time, I'm going the character development angle!
I love AU's. Let me start there. I love completely going off the rails and basically only alluding to canon whenever I feel like it, BUT I will admit, I really liked writing Heart of the Champions because I had such a blueprint from BOTW that I didn't want to deviate TOO much from, but then I got to throw everything out the window in Spirit of the Goddess because there was no post calamity blueprint! At the time when I started it, there wasn't even a BOTW2 trailer because I think in my FFN notes for one chapter I scream about the trailer existing lol. But I really liked the character development needed in that fic specifically. Both of them were really struggling to figure out who they were now, and I think Link, especially, was fun to develop. One of my favorite lines there that I thought really got across his struggle was “I’ve fallen in love with her twice in the same lifetime," but he's not particularly happy about it because it's conflicting with his memories of being a soldier, and how he refused to tell her and said "I loved her before the Calamity, and I love her now. The only way I can show it now is through my silence," which I thought was sooo crafty because Link is the silent protagonist lol! But it's not that crafty now that it's been a few years. I also remember really liking their second first kiss in this one, and Link basically goes into shutdown mode because of the conflicting feelings he can't understand because of the memories he lost. But once he goes solo to find Zelda, I think that was always one of my favorite plots I've done. Him almost drowning in the dark cavern was probably one of my favorite sensory things I had to try to work out. I don't even think I'm answering the question anymore, now I'm just rambling about what I liked in this fic lol! But yes, Link specifically was who I really liked developing in this fic!
I love rambling, but I should stop here so I don't write an essay lol!! Thank you for the ask!!!

(lmao, I lost this in my tabs and was reminded I hadn't replied yet when I referenced this post even though I never got back to it. D'oh!)
I love the interpretation that Izzy has masked so long it's become part of who he is, and that sharp focus link made me Very Sad, oh my god.
I wonder how many promises Edward made to him that have been broken over the years, either because of circumstances ("I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you, mate"), ADHD ("Oh yeah, I'll do that later"), depression or other reasons, right up to inadvertently replacing Izzy with Stede.
Plus, once you show the mask of "I don't care" to the world long enough, even those who once knew you did care stop thinking you do and stop trying to integrate you. Ed makes no attempts to bring Izzy into Stede's crew. There's no, "Be nice to the crew so they like you," or "Be nice to Izzy and listen to what he tells you, you'll learn a lot". It's like he doesn't think Izzy would want to be part of the Revenge crew, or it's first mate, so why would he try?
It's incredibly unhealthy and unfair to him and the people around him, especially Ed. It's also very familiar, especially when you've been thrown into an insane situation and the person - your person, the one person that you can love and trust in this horrible world, the one person who keeps you safe - doesn't seem to care to anymore.
Absolute agony, thank you, especially when framed against our metas about Izzy just wanting Ed to tell him things etc, not leave him hanging thinking they're all going to die any minute.
We can see the Izzy underneath, with as much of his guard down as is possible, in all the small moments Con gives us, where it looks like he's going to cry more than once during the 'there he is' scene, when he gently sets the model ship back on the shelf, when he stares too long at Lucius's lips, clearly tempted. When he's civil with Buttons and moaning to Jackie, when he's awed by Ed's genius, when he's playing with fire and asking Edward if they can just send the boys, when he's spooked by Stede's ghost story or stroking his drapes.
I love all of this and I wonder how much of it was Con just...running with the character, and how much was direction? Like, was he told to stroke the drapes or did he just do that?
Also, the model ship moment has stuck with me ever since someone on here mentioned it and said how much it says about Izzy, that Ed likes it, so he didn't just destroy it or let it be destroyed, he set it back on the shelf gently.
It makes me think of how no matter how angry at Stede he was, he tried to give him a quick death, rather than a brutal or painful one.
Edward stops him with the touch and the "I need you here" and because of the way I interpret their interactions and my feelings on Izzy as a survivor of sexual violence I see Izzy as not only touched starved, but touch adverse and Ed knows this. And his touching - gently, in public - is reaching out to the Izzy underneath, his old friend, the man he knows is still there too, alongside what he's become.
Oof, more pain. Imagining a past when Ed and Izzy touched more, and then Izzy started pulling back and away from him. The pain of that. Ow.
Oh I hadn't read your next paragraph yet LMAO we both went to the same place. But, yes. Also I feel like the choke in 1x10 is agreed upon violence (if not explicitly discussed with words? Like, Ed did it once or twice or struck out and Izzy's response was a grin and to be fine with it, because they're pirates and violent men so why not?) and the toe just pushed the boat out way too far.
I have a lot of thoughts and headcanons about Izzy's life/past/trauma and how it is entwined with Ed's, but that should be its own post.
I will, in fact, be waiting for this.
a small, extra thought on masking in OFMD:
I've said before that Ed masks constantly, and I either said in there or somewhere else that I think Stede used to but his masking came mostly down to "pretend to be a good husband and straight and not bored and yearning" and the moment he left for sea he just unmasked almost entirely (except the "straight" part, that didn't come away until, I would say, 1x10 when Mary inadvertently tells him he's in love with Ed and his brain puts the pieces together) and that's why he's so blunt about everything all the time; he has no mask left
but i came to the conclusion earlier that the only one who cannot mask
is izzy.
Hear me out! I've seen a person or two joke that it'd be funny to watch him have, like, a customer service voice or whatever where he's suddenly Excellent At Being Around X Type Of Person for an episode and is good at masking in that way
and yeah, that could be fun
but.
When Ed comes aboard the Revenge, he joins Muppet Comedy land by immediately masking. He blends in. Fang and Ivan do it too, a little, but I think they were just...set up for it from the get-go. If you look at 1x03, Izzy grabs Fang's beard and when Fang moves away he's whining that he hates it when Izzy does that, and Ivan can be heard comforting him and saying he should say something (which implies he could say something to Izzy about that, and that Izzy might listen, or might have listened once a long time ago, before Ed fell into such depression Izzy is currently being his SSRIs and his executive function and his waiter and his carer and-), which tells me that Fang and Ivan are already just squishy enough to blend in with the Muppet Comedy Revenge Crew
but Izzy doesn't.
Izzy doesn't blend. Izzy doesn't change (his character begins to evolve, but Izzy doesn't mask)
when Izzy is surrounded by Icky Type Pirates in Spanish Jackie's, he's still Izzy
when Izzy is around the gay as fuck crew of the Revenge, he's still just... Izzy
when he's around Stede? Izzy.
when he's around the English? izzy
when he's around Fang and Ivan? a more relaxed Izzy, imo, i think they're his closest friends aside from Ed, but still Izzy
and when he's around Ed, he's Izzy
where Ed blends in and changes like the wind, like a chameleon becoming whatever background he's framed against, Izzy never changes
he never even changes his outfit
Izzy is a rock, and that's probably been very good for Ed over the years. Izzy is stability and support, he's an immovable object. Izzy is what Edward expects him to be, always, because Izzy is not influenced by the tides like Edward is.
Izzy is static.
Which is probably part of where their relationship (whatever it was before) started to deteriorate: Ed changed, Izzy did not.
Izzy does not, can not, mask.
It's one of the reasons why he failed to transition into a part of the muppet crew
izzy doesn't mask

Destiel Chronicles
(Vol. XXVI)
It was a love story from the very beginning.
And then... There's this gap here...
(7x04/7x06/7x07/7x08/7x10)
Hello my dears! How are you? This is the second meta from season 7 from my Destiel Chronicles. And this is very critical one, to the gap I found after Castiel's death.
I want to give thanks to my friend @agusvedder she made the gifs for this meta and discussed with me the episodes.
Well, I should stop the cháchara, and just do it.
Changing the focus
I noticed after Castiel's death, the focus of the show was all over the topic GUILT and LIES. Because why not? Let's confront Sam and Dean again so we can get a little of Wincest fuel.
So, Dean killed that Kitsune woman, Sammy's maybe first love and friend (a monster friend, as Dean will have on Benny in s8). But well... Dean is lying and he feels guilty about what he did. And Sam ignoring the whole situation... Okay... Cas is out. That story ended. Let's focus on Wincest and Pathologic Codependency between the brothers.
Episode 7x04 Defending your life, was about GUILT, and how it came to haunt you.
And because it was a very Wincest episode when we confronted Sam and Dean with VERITAS en Season 6, why not repeat the thing? Let's use another God... OSIRIS to confront them again. Like watching the same bad movie twice.
Ok, soy, Dean is drinking a lot of alcohol, because of Cas? Well of course, but the writers made it because of the guilt he feels for lying to his brother.
In the middle of this situation, he talks about this with a waitress, and Osiris captured him.
And because Sammy is so smart and believes in his brother, he is the lawyer, his defensor.
The whole episode is focused in old guilts and regrets of Dean. OSIRIS called Jo, and then Sam, because he felt responsible for them, for their safety, and about Jo, for her death.
Sam is the person that try to clean all those old ghosts from his brother. But he failed, because Dean has a big issue with the guilt.
Aaaand Codependency again...
This is what makes Wincest strong: Pathologic Codependency... And we will see a lot of it thanks to Sera Gamble...
Episode 7x06: Slash Fiction.
There's two Leviathans copying Cas and Dean and committing crimes in places where they were hunting years ago (firsts seasons, bc Sera missed Bro-only episodes so much... Awww 😒).
Okay, so they had to meet this guy Frank, a very odd man and very smart. And Dean had to abbandon Baby in that place...
So we had this comic dialogue...
SAM: It's temporary, Dean.
DEAN: Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
SAM: Y-you know that's a line from --
DEAN: Swayze movie. Swayze always gets a pass!
SAM: Right. Uh, well, you want some tunes or something? Here.
And then there was Air Supply singing I'm all out of love... And Dean was like...
Ok... If you weren't watching the episode, this could be a very Destiel song, BUT, this is Wincestland or Gamble-land, is the same, and the song is just for loosing Baby. Cas is erased here. No more Cas... And... Wasn't Sammy hallucinating with Lucifer? Oh, yeah, nevermind... If they don't want to write it... Okay, keep watching.
But the thing here... Was this scene...
LEVIATHAN!DEAN: I mean, honestly, I just... You know what? I can't stand the guy. Talk about a hero complex. And he doesn't have relationships. No, he has applications for sainthood. Oh, and he thinks he's funny. He thinks he's a damn comedian.
LEVIATHAN!SAM: Who has two thumbs and full-blown bats in the belfry?
LEVIATHAN!DEAN points at LEVIATHAN!SAM and LEVIATHAN!SAM points at himself with both thumbs.
LEVIATHAN!SAM: I'm serious. It's nothing but Satan-vision on the inside. I mean, how he's walking around in a jacket with detachable arms is beyond me. You know, I had a brother with this many issues once.
Okay, not this scene, but was funny, look how they talked about Hallucifer! Yay! They didn't forget! 😒
I wanted to show you this scene, when Dean and Sam got arrested by the police...
LEVIATHAN!DEAN: I just want to let you know how much I've really grown to hate you and your brother since we've been wearing you. I just don't get it. You could be anything. You're strong, you're uninhibited.
Another confrontation, the Leviathan here is saying he doesn't understand Dean and Sam pathologic Codependency, this gives a Wincest tint to the scene, it was written with that intention, and that's how it feels.
Then, the Leviathan! Dean told the truth about Sammy's monster friend...
And I present here to all of you, the Wincest master topic, because Sam reacts exaggeratedly to this. It's a break up? It looks like. Oh yes, the kind of drama Gamble likes, the bro-only one...
Now... Let's jump to episode 7x07, Sam is mad at Dean, they broke up 😒 but they bumped into each other trying to solve a case.
The clues lead them to a Museum... And this dialogue is just... Okay. Nevermind... Just look at it...
MUSEUM GUIDE: Never ended well for the siblings.
DEAN: Why is that?
MUSEUM GUIDE: Mm, the strain of working together, or maybe just being around each other all their lives. Those two were the exception, actually – the Campbells. Got along famously. Of course, that was just a stage name
Ok.. all right... The Campbells?? Really? What was Mary Winchesters's last name??? Oh yes... Campbell! 😒 Ah, ok, they weren't actually brothers, they were lovers, nevermind... Nothing to see here... 🤦
Then.. we'll have more drama... And Dean will mention Cas trying to explain why he killed the Kitsune. Because CAS is compared here with a "monster friend" (??) And because his betrayal he doesn't trust anyone now (???!!) I know this could be written so differently... I know that.
Is an episode I want to forget. Thank you.
Okay, what I have to say of episode 7x08? Sam married with Becky (a Wincest shipper) and Dean being the third in discord. Love triangle my friends... Can I vomit now?
What a gap... And who was Castiel?? And... Wasn't Sam hallucinating with Lucifer?
I know we can find the plot and the storyline somewhere...
Nope.
Don't worry... Edlund will be back to the rescue in episode 9, in the next Chronicle.
Bobby
Okay, not all these episodes before Edlund were ugly, the one that wrote Gamble about Bobby is a cute one. I have to give her that, but kind of repetitive in some aspects... But, symbolically, it was a nice episode in which we could learn more about Bobby.
Episode 7x10 Death's door showed us how Bobby was the real good dad these boys had. We learn about his own childhood, with an abusive father, and how that past made him connect immediately with his sons, Dean and Sam.
One of the issues with Bobby was this quote...
"You break everything you touch." Is the phrase that kept dancing in Bobby's head thanks to his dad...
So we traveled all over Bobby's traumas, and how he was desperately trying to keep himself alive because he needed to deliver to his boys one last clue against the Leviathans, Bobby fighting till the end, my friends...
And this was my favorite part ...
That's why Bobby was the lovely and normal father for these boys, and is so touching. He tried to give them a normal life. And they are so grateful with him because of that.
And this too...
Bobby scolding John, trying to make him see what the kids needed from him. Trying to bring him back from that revenge path he was following.
Loable work.
So Bobby trapped his reaper, and delivered the boys those numbers, and then he died.
I can't forget Dean's words about trying to keep his faith... "
For him it was harder, because he is a chronic denying boy, and Sam was the one with his feet on Earth. And this dialogue broke my heart.
SAM: Dean, listen – we need to brace ourselves.
DEAN: Why?
SAM: Because it's real.
DEAN: What do you want to do? You want to hug and – and say we made it through it when Dad died? We've been through enough.
Gah, I wanted to hug them right there. 😟
Okay... Enough of sobbing...
To Conclude:
There was several episodes with big Wincest subtext content, and Cas and Hallucifer plot seemed to be erased... Also the storyline.
The episode about Bobby's death was a cute one, with touching scenes and flashes about Bobby's past, showing us his issues and what a good father he was with our boys.
I hope you had enjoyed this one's, it was kind of critical, but I promise Destiel in the next ones...

Destiel break up
We are still waiting for the talk... In an episode where true can kill
Supernatural 14x20 meta "Moriah"
Hello my friends! Are you excited? I can't believe we just need to wait till September or October to next season... But well.
I will start the lasts metas about 14x20 with the Destiel one, huge amount of it...
And as Dabb said, writers lie and he lied to us bc the guys didn't find out about the deal with the Empty. 🤷
Let's start here...
Mirror land
Jack getting out the Mal'ak box, yelling YOU LIED TO ME. Then rejecting his dad's, then walking down the street surrended by people "lying" to each other... The magical thing here was each couple was a Destiel mirror, and those couples were breaking up. Dressed in Destiel colored code... Saying cliche quotes as "It wasn't you, it was me" or talking with their kid About being separated but still loving him.
So Jack was sick of lies... And this episode was a parallel to episode 14x09 from mid season, if you want to read my met LIAR LIAR, WHAT ARE YOU HIDDEN FROM ME? Is here.
In that episode LIES was a centric topic, everybody was lying. But Jack tried to fix that... And then no one could lie.
But let's come back to the scene in which Jack left the bunker and his three dad's began to discuss what to do with him, again the tension, and again the fight between Dean and Cas, and CAS passing by Dean, in his way, he brushed brusquely his shoulder against the hunter's. Yes... He never do that, not now... I thought he was just about to punch him in the face, but he didn't. He just looked at him with his bitch face and left. Without a word... No before a good eye fucking... Obviously Sammy was there too, feeling awkward. PrayxSammy...
After this "lovers separation" Dean and Sam entered to that shop of Mirrors... Because we love to be redundant here when is about Destiel.. and well... We had a lot of mess aaaaand... The next thing...
Dean panic to a love confession
When Dean and Sam were inside an office to be separated from the mess and scandal that was outside the place, there was a TV with a news program on it. The woman in red (Dean mirror) was talking about the president being TOO MUCH HONEST ABOUT HIS TAXES. And the word SCANDAL was writing in the flag. When she ended talking her partner (dressed with a blue suit, Castiel mirror) made a brutal and honest love confession of his secret and hidden love for her. She just stayed there without saying a word, but happy... So... Remember this?
Gif set credit @girellah
So yes... He remained mute... But I'm sure that after this... Dean was recalling the confession with butterflies inside his stomach... 😏💕
So... What did Dean do??? He just shut the TV as if he was watching a ghost is something on it... With panic in his eyes!!!! So... Dean bean, are you afraid to confess your feelings for your friend???? As I wrote in my first fic... "Love is scary" DEAN IS AFRAID OF WHAT HE FEELS FOR CAS. He knows he has to, maybe, have that talk with him (the talk this season 14 was foreshadowing...) But he is still afraid of it... Of the truth.
We are still waiting for THE TALK
And there was an Easter egg in Jack's grandparents house... The address number was:
8715. So I could say...8x07? And season 15???
I will be very wild with this Destiel spec, but hey, is just a game here, and if we never get that talk...as I always say, I will write a lot of fics for you...
Ok... 8x07... Castiel coming back from Purgatory and this scene...
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
They had one talk back then, in which Dean altered his own thoughts and memories bc he couldn't handle the truth... But Castiel made him see the truth.
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
We can say, they had an honest talk here... A good one... It was interrupted twice, and Dean looked so hurt after the truth. But they were honest with each other.
So in this episode we had a recall to that one. And is a good thing to keep the hopes for one honest talk next season.
The second fight
The second fight between Dean and Castiel occurred when Chuck asked them to sacrifice Jack. "I know you don't like this. And I don't care." That quote from Dean to Cas was a big one too. Cas remained quiet again, putting his bitch face again and left. Second separation in the same episode.
When Dean found Jack and Castiel I'm the cemetery, Castiel put himself as a shield. And this made me recall that song again from 14x06: YOU LOVE ME BUT IN YOUR HEART THERE'S SOMETHING BEFORE ME." That something is Jack.
The good thing is Castiel saw Dean desisting from killing Jack... And we saw them again together as TFW against that huge amount of monsters.
To conclude
I think maybe the lovers separation is accurate to this episode.
This episode was linked to 14x06 OPTIMISM and 14x09 the Spear, the first one talked about accepting your true love and separation and the second one talked about lies and manipulation.
I think we had to wait to next season for the talk we deserve with honesty between Dean and Castiel.
Thanks for reading this! I'll see you in the next meta!

all of this YES. but also, what i find very interesting is that throughout the story, up until that scene at the end when the Doctor leaves, he's very very caring and concerned about her. he's just really really soft and very aware of her condition (mentally and physically) and he doesn't want her to have to do all this, he doesn't like that she has to force herself to and past her breaking point over and over again. the only reason he asks her to is because the situation is so dire.
which does make it... very odd, i think, that he makes such an abrupt u-turn from how soft and gentle he is to "aight, i'm out" at the end??? and it almost makes that hurt even worse because she's been depending on his SO MUCH the entire time (i made this post the other day and i stick to what i said) and he's just leaving and isn't that just typical isn't that just Romana's whole life from here on out?
people always leaving and leaving and leaving and the Doctor (now) and the Doctor again (Neverland) and that time he's not coming back and then Brax (Pandora) and Leela (Forever) and everyone is always leaving always being taken from her when she's at her weakest most vulnerable and GAH i'm gonna start waxing poetic about this aren't i?? Romana is always the one who's left, the one anchoring the one who stays who stands who remains after everyone else is gone - look at the Matrix projection of Trey, in Rennaisance! she's alone she's standing in the ruins of Gallifrey and breaking a million million hearts to heal her own and she's the only one left, the one who's still there after it all giving and giving and giving of herself for her planet for the universe; we talk about Leela pouring herself out for others and running dry because she's not given enough of that same care (a lot of my own meta surrounding Forever is about this) but Romana is the same and on a much larger scale, it just doesn't show itself so viscerally because she's been starved like this almost her whole life.
Romana is the one left behind. left behind in E-Space, left behind on Etra Prime left behind by the Doctor on Gallifrey not once but twice left behind by Brax (so many times) left behind by Leela - her best friend - once and almost again (Enemy Lines) left behind by her people her planet; left behind, i assume from all the vagueposting i've happened across, on Unity (and i'd imagine that's the only time Narvin leaves her, ever since they met he's refused to leave her behind even so early on as Lies, before he even loved her) and i know nothing about TW4 but bet icould drag this thread to it's inevitable unraveling end in that boxset, too.
that is what makes the scene at the end of TAE so heartbreaking: it's the beginning of all the times Romana will be left. that's why it's even worse on relisten, with all the more context you get as you go on and on and on (it's what makes Extermination so poignant, because it's the fulfilment of everything that happened on Etra Prime but Romana is not left behind; that's the point of all of Gallifrey s6 is that Romana is not left behind this time and that's why it's so meaningful). and the fact that the Doctor left at that point, when Romana needed him the most (how the actual frick is she up and about still by the end of TAE, she should have crashed way before then) - bc even for as unfortunate as his choice here is, i STILL stick to my point from the post i linked above that Sixie was the exact perfect person to be there for her - is absolutely gut-wrenching.
I just finished a relisten of the Apocalypse Element and hooooowheeeee do I have some thoughts on Romana’s trauma.
I simply cannot get over how awfully she is treated throughout the entire audio and not offered the smallest amount of comfort. She breaks herself out of Dalek prison and immediately upon return is set to work trying to save Gallifrey. She’s been through twenty years of intense unrelenting trauma both mentally and physically, she’s starved, half dead, vulnerable and in pain and yet she is expected to shake it off and become responsible for the welfare of an entire planet. And not only that, but she then is forced to work herself until she passes out at least three (maybe four?) times in the space of two hours, and STILL feels the need to apologise for it the moment she wakes. She is so completely broken and yet nobody acknowledges it or even asks her how she feels about it. The Doctor even tries to leave without even saying goodbye to her!
The way she acts after she’s passed out also worries me a lot, because she is able to move from unconscious and pushed to the furthest reaches of mental and physical exhaustion, to fully alert and working hard until she’s outstripping even the Doctor scarily quickly. It’s a really ominous indicator of the sort of things the Daleks forced her into and how they treated her while she was working for them as a slave. And what makes it even more painful is that this behaviour is immediately reinforced on her return to Gallifrey until working herself into unconsciousness and doing the same from the moment she wakes simply becomes her norm. We see her go through the same in Appropriation when she’s immediately pushing herself after being almost killed by Pandora, and in this way she clearly demonstrates that she believes working herself to that state is what’s expected of her. Gallifrey does nothing to help her unlearn that behaviour even though it is clearly a response to the Daleks’ abuse.
But honestly the saddest part of all of this is the fact that even after everything she doesn’t have a single person that cares about her there to comfort her. She’s not so close with Brax, she has no Leela or Narvin yet and even the Doctor was trying to leave without saying goodbye. So she goes through a twenty year ordeal of relentless daily abuse that reduces her to her weakest state, manages to get herself out and immediately pushes herself to save a whole galaxy, protect her people and went above and beyond anything that was expect of her, almost costing her life, and yet after all of that she doesn’t have a single person to comfort her or even tell her she did well. I can imagine her sitting alone in her rooms after everything has happened and honestly? Her situation isn’t that much better than it was on Etra Prime. She’s still scared for her safety, still trapped by circumstance and still entirely alone, except now she has a slightly comfier bed. It’s no wonder she acts the way she does around friendship and connections with others after this experience, and no wonder she almost kills herself to save gallifrey on multiple occasions, she’s been conditioned to think by both the daleks and the time lords that working herself to near death with no comfort or praise afterward is the bare minimum that’s expected from her.
On top of all of that, she then has to consider the trauma of spending her life on Gallifrey knowing that the things that haunt her most will inevitably be coming to get her someday, it’s just a matter of time and she’ll likely be the only defence between them and the rest of the planet. The inevitability of the time war mirrors Romana’s fears of Daleks coming down the corridor in prison, except it’s not just her safety she’s scared for anymore, it’s the whole planet she’s devoted her life to, and the people she loves most in the universe, the people she would die for without a second thought if she had to. The possibility of her having to die for her friends or be forced to watch them die is becoming more and more real by the day, and I’m sure to her that it’s infinitely more terrifying than only having to worry for herself.
Anyways as you can tell I’m extremely distraught about the fact that Romana went through all this trauma and ended up so damaged without anyone to give her a hug and let her know she’s going to be okay. She was left utterly alone after the worst experience of her life, when she needed a friend most, and it really hurts.
#sorry i went off oops#i just have......... Many thoughts and feelings about romana#hate that i wrote two fics set directly post-TAE and yet haven't written anything addressing this oof#guess i'll add smth else to my wip list#longpost#lu rambles#dweu#big finish#the apocalypse element#romana ii#sixth doctor#irving braxiatel#leela of the sevateem#narvin#meta#dw meta#dweu meta
