19. What’re you excited about for next year?

hate that this is the first thing that came to mind but i'm really lookin' forward to getting a tax return so i can put it toward my next Wales trip (though that probably won't be until a couple years later lol)

but like. other than that i don't really have a lot of Concrete things i'm looking forward to next year. 2024 is largely unwritten in my mental Planner. i guess i'm excited about Possibilities. i've put myself out there with a couple business ventures (like, self-employment stuff that i'm hoping will work out for me so i can finally get my own place and have a comfortable schedule and stuff), and i'm hoping to publish my first novel in some way, so i'm curious and a lil anxious but still excited about where things might lead.

22. Favorite place you visited this year?

god that's a tough one because i did a lot of traveling this year lol. like, mostly all within a 2-hour radius of where i live, but i've explored a lot of towns and metro areas. i really like the Tennyson St area of Denver; it's like its own downtown and not half as overwhelming as the big city center.

a little further out was Trinidad, CO, and i really loved the vibe of that little town. the downtown was really charming, with a super cool history museum that had a special section dedicated to a Dr. Stanley Biber, who was known for doing gender-affirming surgeries from 1969 until he retired. he literally did over 3,000 bottom surgeries for trans people, and apparently at one time the town was known as "the sex change capital of the world". i didn't even fucking know that when i stopped off at this town, what a pleasant surprise!! there were several visibly queer/trans people in town (yes i'm going off vibes but like. c'mon. my gaydar is excellent) and stickers in the windows of local businesses proclaiming them to be accepting, affirming, safe spaces. <3

i went into a local artist co-op shop and the guy who ran it was sitting there whittling at his latest wood project, and he talked to me for a while about how he moved there a few years ago and absolutely loved it, how everyone was so warm and friendly, he made me wanna move there lol.

i think when i go places, what really makes a place stand out to me is the interactions i have with people there. i'm an introvert by nature but i really hold those short, sweet connections with strangers dear to my heart.

23. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?

god, i don't even remember what state i was in at the beginning of the year, so idk what would have benefited me most. i do wish i'd set aside a little more money to do the discovery flight thing this year. i'm gonna have to postpone it til next year, hopefully i can make it a birthday gift to myself toward the beginning of the year, lol, but i think if i could message myself in january 2023 i'd be like 'put like 200 bucks aside so you can fly a plane this year'

also 'do NOT buy that 80 dollar vibrator. it fucking sucks. the 20 dollar one is literally better. never buy expensive toys because they are never as good as you'd think they'd be'. 😅

you got him a toiletries set!

y’all both agreed to keep it simple and small in terms of christmas gifts

so you just bought him the first toiletries set you found in the shop

it wasn’t necessarily cheap, you probably got him a branded one so you were confident in the fact that the product wouldn’t give him a rush or anything

he found the gift really cute, especially because he got you a eau de toilette 

great minds think alike i guess

(but because he was lost when it came women’s perfume he spent a while with the sales person, bombarding them with question - not to be rude but just so he doesn’t something you hate)

(”so, she has [e/c] eyes - what sort of scent would suit that?” he asked the perplexed sales assistant.)

anyway, he really liked the gift and he gave you many kisses (づ￣ 3￣)

it also brought him great relief that you bought him something small - like he bought you - so he didn’t look like fool 

Kōshi Sugawara

you made him a cute hamper!

filled with a plushie, chocolate, sweets, some toiletries, a water bottle, a necklace and a few polaroid pictures of you and him 

he adored it

literally as soon as he opened it and noticed the amount of effort you must’ve put into it, he wrapped you in the biggest hug and gave you all the kisses （〃｀ 3′〃）

and he loved every single item in that box as well; like, he admired how well you knew him

it kinda made him feel bad about the gift he gave you because the theme y’all decided on was ‘handmade’ and yeah..you arranged the hamper yourself but you must’ve bought most of the contents

while sugawara went handmade handmade and created a scrapbook of y’alls relationship so far 

you assured him it was fine though because his gift was so fkn cute like- how could you be mad?

anyway, sugawara loved the gift so much that he put it up on a table as a decoration of sorts because it looked so pretty

and he only took the first thing out of the hamper in February because it was so well-made and he hated to ruin it

Keiji Akaashi

you got him a book/library scented candle and a DVD of your favourite  movie!

you and akaashi decided to do a thing that you saw on pinterest where you exchange copies of your favourite books but added a bit ✨spice✨

this was only because akaashi’s (and perhaps your) favourite ‘book’ was in fact a fan fiction in the internet so the next best thing he could think of was giving you a DVD of his favourite movie

as for the candle, the orginal plan was just to do the DVD exchange  but when you saw the book scented candle in a store while shopping for cards, you just had to buy it

like a decent person, you texted akaashi saying you bought him a lil’ something extra so he did the same and bought you a simple, dainty bracelet with your initials on it 

it wasn’t even an issue either bc he was a whole list on his notes app which consisted of things he could buy you for any occasion and it’s like 2 pages long

anyway, when y’all exchanged gift of the day, of course he loved your taste in DVD for him 

“Barbie and A Christmas Carol?” He inquired, resisting the urge to smile. 

“A classic.”

As for the candle - as much as he liked to savour gifts like that - once he got a whiff of it’s amazing scent, he just had to light it immediately

needless to say, he loved it - unable to hide how happy to scent made him and the fact that it was from you just made it ten times nicer (╹ڡ╹ )

so, your christmas with akaashi smelled like the library and looked like cuddling by the fireplace, watching the movies you exchanged 

Kōtarō Bokuto

you got him a massive, fluffy blanket! (like, 150x200cm)

ok so i have a headcanon bokuto is a huge cuddle bug!

after an intense volleyball match; all he wants to do is go home, take a shower, eat and then cuddle with you 🥺

literally anywhere, he is not picky: on the couch, in bed, on the floor, the dinner table works too, the carpet- anywhere!

but he is picky about temperature - especially after showers 

since he takes cold showers (bc he is an athlete >:) ) whenever he gets out, he wants to warm up immediately so he’s always complaining while y’all cuddle

“(Y/N).” He whined, “Stop stealing all the blanket; I need some too! My feet are sticking out and they are cold!”  

“(Y/N), my perfect angel lady.” He spoke sweetly, like he always does when he wants something, “Turn the radiator on? I’m freezing..”

“Why can’t you do it, Bo?” You groaned.

“Because I am asleep.” Cue unrealistic, exaggerated snores

anyway, you had known for a while that a big fluffy blanket would solve all your cuddling problems but it took you a while to find an affordable, good quality one

and once you did, christmas approaching anyway so you held off giving it to him until then 

and as soon as he tore the present open and laid eyes on the solution to his temperature issues, he freaked out v(ﾟДﾟ)v

“FUCK YES!” he yelled, squeezing the warm blanket to chest and appreciating it how fluffy it is, “THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

he didn’t stop beaming for the rest of the day

and he insisted you try out the blanket with him immediately so he was just laying on the couch, the blanket draped over him with his arms wide open and an inviting space beside him

“Let’s give it a test-drive! I’ll put on a movie!” He lured, fiddled with the remote as he waited for you to lay down beside him.

You laughed, gently sitting down next to him before sinking into his arms, allowing him to toss the blanket over you

3 movies later, the sun had went down and you were both still snuggled up beside each other, slowly finding yourselves drifting off 

“Thank you, (Y/N).” He whispered in reference to how great the blanket was how thoughtful you are to have given him the best gift ever, “I love you.”

“I love you too, Bo.” You said softly, smiling into his chest at how much he liked you gift - be proud 💕

Hitoka Yachi

you got her a cute stationary set!

yachi is definitely one of those girls that takes the most beautiful notes and put a lot of effort into their school work

like she has a new notebook for every unit of every subject, a highlighting scheme, stickers for decoration, the prettiest study planner and the most detailed diagrams

and she always has dainty notebooks, adorable washi tapes, glittery highlight, cool pencil cases and those pens with cute lil’ sanrio characters at the ends 

needless to say, she goes through her stationary pretty quickly with how organised she likes to keep her stuff

especially her pens because she uses them to not only take her mass amounts of notes, but to also do little doodles on the side of her jotter or on her hand 

oh! and at lunch, you’d shuffle over to her desk to compare Pinterest boards or revise together and you’d notice the cute little drawings of flowers, smilies, sparkles and hearts on her hand ✨❤

yachi would notice the mesmerised look in your eyes and offer to draw on your hand too and obviously you said yes so you’d go around the rest of the day with matching doodles on your hand with yachi ヾ(≧ ▽ ≦)ゝ💓

and whenever y’all go shopping together, you notice how her gaze lingers on the cutesy stationary in a shop’s window for a bit longer than she should 

so of course you bought her the one she’s been staring at

and she was absolutely ecstatic 

“Oh my god, (Y/N)! These are so cute!” she shifted through the many types of stationary in the bundle, “I’m gonna use these all the time.” q(≧▽≦q)

You smiled, quite chuffed with yourself before sitting yourself beside her and putting your hand on her knee, “Yachi?” 

Yachi giggled as that tone was all too familiar

so she popped open one of the pens and began sketching away on the back of your hand; drawing little candy canes, gingerbread men, snowmen, snowflakes and other festive things.

Prucan week day 2

Gilbert was going to kill Alfred looking at the list of fixes he had to get to he wondered what on earth the other man did on his shift. He had a feeling that most of the issues were from over enthusiastic over upgrading things just to find something to do. Which was all well and good until a poor computer from 1999 burst into flames trying to install windows 10 software. Rolling his shoulders and wincing at the crackle Gilbert started to get his things together he had 4 internet connections to fix and a buggy library catalog to troubleshoot and once that was done he was totally playing online MMOs until 5. “ Looks like a perfect day Ed” he said swiping a soda from the fridge as he headed out .

“You making Al do the big fixes?” Eduard mumbled as he sat scrolling through code trying to find where some poor grad student had messed up his profile page.

“Yep” said Gilbert popping the ‘p’ with some satisfaction. “He made them he fixes them” .

“Fair enough” Eduard said waving absentmindedly at him as he left.

Scrolling through his phone as he walked Gilbert smirked as he looked at the pictures his brother had put up on Instagram “Looks like you’re whipped lil bro” he snickered putting just that in the comment section under a picture of Ludwig putting up shelving with a cat strapped to him. Shaking his head, he wove through the students heading to class and to the comparatively empty library.

One elevator trip to the subbasement of sadness later he was stuck in line waiting with the rest of the petitioners to ask the head librarian what exactly was wrong with the non-connecting computers. Blinking he realized the person in front of him was the Professor he had helped the other day.

“Hey you’re the tech guy” The other man said suddenly seeming to realize the same thing.

“Yeah that’s me” Gilbert replied with a smile “what are you doing down here?” he asked looking around “You keep a book out late?”

Matthew snorted “Nothing like that I’m actually trying to figure out why none of my students seem to be able to get the reserve books I had them put aside”

“Ah” Gilbert said shuffling forward as the line shortened. Leaning against the corner of the bookcase he asked “Keeping anything good on reserve?”

“Just the main textbook I had a few spare copies, but supposedly they can’t get them and that’s why no one is doing the reading” Matthew shook his head “I have a feeling that no one has actually tried to take them out but I want to check before I make them do a quiz”

“Sounds fair”

“Yeah. So why are you here? Did they glitch out too from the other day?” Matthew waved his hand vaguely seeming to be trying to capture ‘blue screen of death’ in the gesture.

“Nah it’s a internet connection issue with the lending laptops” Gilbert said surprised that the other man had asked

“Hopefully it’s an easy fix” Matthew said with a smile and wave as he headed into the office leaving Gilbert outside with a rather funny feeling in his stomach.

“Huh” Gilbert said looking after him shifting his orange backpack to the floor as he slouched further against the bookcase. “Well at least he’s polite” he muttered waving at the other man a few minutes later as he headed into his meeting.

 Matthew had spent most of the morning trying his best to figure out whether his students were lying or just incompetent and it turned out the answer was both. Resigning himself to writing up a pop quiz he head to lunch flipping through his planner to make a note so he would remember. In the back of his head he wondered how the Tech guy had fared with his issues hopefully they had been easy to fix.  God he was cute he thought absently as he headed to his office. Something about how he slouched against the bookcase…? Mentally shrugging he got back to work drafting a quiz and then sitting through what felt like an endless staff meeting where they were informed funding was going to be allocated to yet more upgrades. No one was happy about that. Felix was still kvetching about it when they got back to their office. Nodding along Matthew paged through the funding plans.

“Did you see they are giving us new work laptops since the students are getting some?” he commented.

“Really?” Felix said looking through his own packet of papers. “They didn’t mention that in the meeting”

“I still feel like the money could be better used for programs” Matthew said dropping the file on the corner of his desk.

“Speak for yourself” Felix muttered “I could use a new laptop” .

Glancing at his coworker’s stickered covered laptop Matthew was forced to agree. “You’ve had that thing since graduate school right?”

“Dude I’m still in graduate school” Felix said moving his laptop aside “Just got to finish up my dissertation and I’m done though”

“I keep forgetting” Matthew said “Sorry about that. You know what” he added looking over at their couch .

“What” Felix said already back to working on grading

“We should get like a foot stool or something like a table cause then I could sit on the couch and work”

“You want it you get it” came the mumbled reply.  

“I’ll look over the weekend” Matthew said settling in to write up the test and taking the wave over the cubical wall as a yes.

 Gilbert’s day ended up being better and worse than he had hoped. The internet issues at the library had turned out to be from outdated tech and how on earth do you say ‘no really you need to buy a laptop from this decade’ to someone who was absolutely not going to do that? At least the catalogue issue was easy to resolve. With time to spare Gilbert looked at his phone as he settled into his office chair. Eduard had already gone home and in an hour he could do the same. Frowning he scrolled through the messages from his brother he had missed while working. “schiss Lud” he grumbled before calling him.

“Hello?” his brother picked up on the firs t ring.

“Lud I know I said I’d help with the sale this weekend but I’m really..” Gilbert tried to say until he was cut off.

“If you ditch to go drinking I will kill you” his brother said

“Look its Oktoberfest I don’t know what you expect here?” Gilbert whined slightly spinning in his chair.

“I expect you to show up to the estate sale so that I don’t have to do it all alone!” his brother said in a huff.

“Fine whatever but I’m showing up hungover” Gilbert finally said, “Me and Tonio have been planning this for weeks!”

“The sale has been planned for weeks too!”

Gilbert hung up on him before he could complain more. Ignoring his phone as his brother called him back he packed up his stuff. The hell with it he was going home. Leaving a note for Alfred ( ‘There had better not be anything broken when I come in Monday’ ) he locked up and headed for the parking lot. ‘stupid estate sale’ he muttered to himself as he walked. His step-mother had recently died and with her gone neither him nor his brother were interested in taking the house. While her family had handled the property they had left the contents to them. It was Ludwig’s idea to have a garage sale. In Gilbert’s opinion he who thought of the idea should do it and that meant he didn’t have to be involved. Clearly his brother did not agree.

Estate sale or not Oktoberfest was happening and with having to work over the school break Gilbert had managed to take Friday off. Settling into his car he adjusted the mirror and smirked. This was going to be fun.
