This is the third year I’m running a Monster March event, and excited!! Also I got the prompt list out super early so theres’s plenty of time!

The collection can be found here, but until then, here are the rules and FAQs. Oh and I guess posting guidelines. The rules and FAQs are taken right from the previous collections, with a few new additions.

Rules:

1. Please use archive warnings when they apply. On that note, Please tag your works appropriately and completely.

2. Be polite to other posters. That’s fairly simple, I think.

3. Don’t overwork or stress yourself. Please.

4. DO NOT use GenAI. Or at least be smart enough to not mention it.

5. All works must be newly created for this event. Sorry, no old or recycled works are allowed.

I have so many feelings about touchstarved character design pt 1 Kuras

So! First lets talk about how his whole outfit is just.... yassified priests garb. Like... the collar, the long sleeves, the "tabbard" straps, the gold. Its all very.... 3 peice suit high fashion is eating a catholic Fathers robes and a protestant Preists robes at the same time. Like the whole suit to me drips power.

Lets count off the different things that imply power to his outfit

Gold and stark white fabric (hard to clean and hard to find)

WELL TAILORED suit (high fashion)

The hair (weird one but in animated/drawn mediums royalty tends to have longer hair)

If yall told me there was 1 person from Hightown (rich people land) and everyone else was from somewhere else and ONLY showed me the character lineup I'd pick Kuras as the hightowner tbqh.

Lets look at his "circles"

I dont have anywhere else to put this so... epaulets look like wings sleeves also imply wings. Makeup = crying gold. Gold bodily fluids = ichor. Ichor = divinity. that is all

A list of imperfect/broken circles/halos on kuras

There's attempted circles with his belts (inturrupted by his buckles and almost always at least two [i'll get to the one on his chest]). The buckles around his thigh in particular remind me of slashed circles.

There is an attempted circle on his chest (implying a flase homesty if you like the theory that veres chest is open bc hes more honest and kuras's is covered because hes more of a lier) that is left open by way of the empty preists collar. Like something religious was taken away. Its highly decorated so i think were ment to see it

The epaulets have some shape language of wings and halos imho and they also continue the trend of doubled up circuits (these are too angular to be circles but square triangular halos were in fact a thing)

His earrings are rayed halos (halos that have sunlight/sunbeams coming off of it) but even they somehow seem inturrupted by his ears when looking at how theres never a perfect circle. Another example of doubling round things

The golden cords on his hip (princely) are also imperfect circles and doubled up round things

What do the doubling up of round things (and honestly most things in some way or another. Makeup, vials on his chest, aprony tabbardy strappy things) mean? I dont know for sure but I'd wager its hinting at a few things

Broken halo

A duality to his nature

Actually on the topic of halos he seems to imply a lot of shapes of halo! He obviously has the thin circular outline ones (for old testament prophets, angels, saints, Mary, and the symbol of the four evangelists according to Wikipedia), the triangle (less prominently) which is for The Holy Trinity (god jesus and the holy spirit),

and somewhat also (weirdly) square halos. Which was for.... *checks notes* celebrities who wanted to be painted like their blorbo jesus and friends... dont beleive me? Look at the fancy "not a belt buckle" thing he has and if its NOT giving painting frame I'll eat it.

Looking at the belt buckle square halo thing again it has been crossed out which makes me think that maybe kuras hates the rich and idolitry (komrade Kuras)

Another word for halo is glorihole. That is apropos of nothing i just had to learn that and yall do too now. Youre welcome

Anyways back on the topic

His too many belts moment at the hips really makes me think of the standard idea of a biblically accurate angel. Yknow. Rings of eyes around a central flame are a common depiction, the hidden rings on the inside are studded to look like false eyes to me. Especially so hidden behind a decorative false belt

The hiding of so much black (another dye reserved for royalty) under such pristine white makes me think hes lying to us, or at best putting up a facade.

THE ABOVE BEING SAID he only has two stripes of true black, the rest is a humble brown. And the belts look like theyre holding something in. I think theres a third layer to him

Layer 1: The Good Doctor Kuras Of Lowdown. Friends? You mean people im around so nobody suspects I'm not human! Yes i am human man and i eat human food!

So while discussing the grand trifecta of Weirdly Good Animated Films From The 2000s (El Dorado, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Treasure Planet) was uh. Was anyone gonna tell me that there was a fourth? A lost sibling. A prodigal son, if you will???? was anyone gonna tell me about Titan AE or was I going to have to find out about it from a RANDOM PINTEREST PIN??

Listen to me. YALL. It’s so good. What the heck. It’s so good?! The plot is surprisingly decent, the animation slaps, theres significantly more violence than I expected and it honestly makes the film better. Animated films usually suffer from the ‘we want this to make it past the censors and be good for kids’ mentality and this one, despite being pg somehow, doesn’t. Several people are shot (yes including blood) and someone gets their neck broken ON SCREEN. The ship fights are incredible and there are a few sequences I genuinely don’t think could have been done in any other medium. The romance is definitely simple, based largely on mutual attraction, but they go out of their way to show them growing as friends and working together. The side characters are fun and the WORLDBUILDING??? The number of times something happened in the film and I thought ‘holy crap, I can’t believe they thought of that’ was insane. Character’s remembering in a panic to exhale before spending a few seconds in the vaccine of space, blood floating around in zero-gravity, characters navigating spaces sideways because they’re designed for use when thrust is coming from a different direction, the main character slowly figuring out how the bad guys worked and using that knowledge to defeat them, some of the music in the film being diagetic in-world music played over comms, surprisingly respectful racial diversity for a movie made in 2000, literally everything was incredible.

Also everyone is hot. That’s definitely a plus. It’s like if you took the aesthetic of Treasure Planet and crossed it with Atlantis’s plot. I know there’s a better comparison here but I’m unfortunately not very well versed in sci-fi media. I’m genuinely impressed. I usually don’t immediately turn around and want to rewatch stuff like that but I’d absolutely watch that again. 10/10 everyone should watch this movie; I’m infuriated that it flopped even worse than the other three and I only just now watched it.

Sooooo idek where to begin with this. I'll start by saying that yes I contacted Rebornica/Bones/Voltergeist and bought two of their old FNAF au designs. Those being Scott/Phone Guy and Jeremy. Before I get into anything I feel like I'm obligated to address Volt's past and let it be known that I do not Care about a mentally ill teenager faking other disorders or aggressively yelling at people to stop copying them or whatever other overdramatic thing they did like a decade ago and I don't think buying from them is anywhere near comparable to "supporting problematic people" compared other designers who are like homophobic or whatever the fuck else, and I'm not here to talk about or argue about "the ethics" of me giving Volt money. So jot that down before you even start typing.

I'm here to ask if anyone here has drawn art of Scott/Phone Guy and Jeremy so that i may save it and add it to their toyhouse galleries. You'll see they both currently have like 100 pieces in their galleries right now but I know that's not even scratching the surface. Theres just so much of it It's overwhelming to look for. Theres also issues of these designs being so popular to the point of people making their Own personal redesigns of them. And it starts to muddy up which art belongs to me or not. This isnt toooo much of a big deal with Jeremy as the giant "?" on his face makes him pretty distinct and easily recognizable as The Guy That I Own. But this becomes a problem with Phone Guy specifically. He is... pretty much The design that everyone draws him as regardless of if they intend for it to be Rebornica fanart or not. People use this design in their own AUs, people use this design as their own OC. Theres so so so so so much art of people labeling their art as "heres my phone guy design!" and its just the Rebornica design. And I don't feel comfortable or really have the heart to save anything that people consider to be theirs even if its literally the design that I own x__x It's just a bit hard when you own a design that is considered canon enough to a real video game to the point where people just. Take him. and there's nothing I can do about that. And it's not something that upsets me tbh because I knew this was an issue when I Bought him. Literally all I want to know is what art I can or can't save and upload to their archives lmao. So I figured asking people to send me their art directly would help reduce the chance of me just taking someone else's art that they didn't intend to be My phone guy. Not even counting the fact that a popular FNAF fan game called Dayshift At Freddy's has their own version of phone guy that ALSO had the red rotary phone head but wears a black business suit. please tell me the otto and reinhard rare pair analysis

HAH thank you for asking because your ask is finally pushing me to finish that analysis 🙏 ok lets get into it… this is. a very long analysis!!

so firstly—the suwens and astreas have briefly crossed paths before. i cant 100% go into detail because i still havent finished the wilhelm and theresia centric ex novels, but rezero wiki says this about ottos grandfather (yaktol):

(veltol and tishua are theresias parents btw)

theres also the fact that the suwens’ hometown is picoutatte, which is historically where stride vollachia caused A Shit Ton of chaos that the astreas and wilhelm had to fight back against. wilhelm and kurgan (someone close to stride) dueled there, and then theres the fact that stride not too long after that summons a dragon in picoutatte using the sacrifices of twenty Divine Protection holders T^T on top of causing a shit ton of other deaths as well!! so like—yes suwens and astreas have kind of sort of briefly crossed paths apart from the suwens definitely knowing the astreas because the astreas are Famous.

ok now moving on to otto and reinhard specifically—they parallel in a lot of ways, and the first way is their families. the suwens are an established and decently well known merchant family based in picoutatte, known as the commercial city. the astreas, of course, are well known for the sword saint line and are very much a warrior family. the roles and career paths otto and reinhard go down follow in their family’s footsteps Exactly, but of course the key difference is that otto has a loving family.

the thing with ottos divine protection is that it wouldve been Extremely easy for him to go insane with it, and iirc there Have been other people than otto to get his divine protection and then Go Insane, so theres a sense that otto turning out mostly alright is a Rarity. and i think that makes sense, because a dp where your senses are Constantly Overwhelmed from birth because of all the constant noise from animals? like otto is right in saying thats literal hell. and thats not to mention that sometimes animals and nature are Brutal, so little kid otto is taking in All of this. but i think otto in large part turned out alright because of his family. they were patient and loving with him and his parents took him to every doctor they could in order to figure out what was bothering otto. his older brother oslo eventually taught him to read and write and Communicate and like—i think its SO telling that oslo and oslo and otto’s parents START CRYING when otto starts communicating by writing down “thank you for everything” to them. like they care for otto and this is such a Huge Milestone on top of those sweet words after otto hasnt been able to respond to any of them, so Of Course the other suwens get emotional. and in general otto being Plagued with bad luck and getting into All Sorts of Trouble, including being chased out of his own hometown by assassins, is like. the suwens are again patient and loving with otto and try to help him out the best they can (such as when they got him merchant connections after he left his hometown so he could be a traveling merchant). theres also frufoo, ottos ground dragon (whos BASICALLY family to him, given how much she acts like a grandma and how close they are), who was most likely acquired by ottos family since iirc ottos known her since he was a kid!! and then otto also Chooses to become a merchant like most of his family. ottos younger brother regin becomes a vet (which is a decision inspired by otto because regin grew to love animals because of otto!!), so otto Really was not required to become a merchant. but he chose to Anyway because thats his passion and thats where his skills lie in.

and in regards to reinhard, well. ok we all know how awful his family gets towards him, but similar to otto—reinhard is born with divine protections. Many of them. and they all affect how he sees and experiences the world, similar to otto, but to a more Extreme extent in ways different to otto. like reinhard in that sense Isnt unlucky like otto is. i mean ottos luck had him in situations like nearly drowning as a baby or falling down stairs (implying that otto mightve been one of those kids that gets scrapes and bruises everywhere bc he keeps getting into shenanigans akdndn). but reinhard because of his dps has basically No Normal Experience. like he doesnt get sick. he doesnt get physically hurt in a lot of ways. etc etc. reinhard also has the ability to get ottos exact dp if reinhard ever gets into a situation where he specifically needs it. but reinhard of course doesnt have a choice in so much of this. otto of course didnt choose to be born with his dp, but he learns to function with his dp and use it to his advantage (including making animal friends!! like frufoo!!) with the help of his family. reinhard is. well because of his family situation and DP situation hes been Almost entirely on his own his whole life. and reinhard IS on his own because of how. special. he is. that and he of course has Zero say in whether he wants to be the sword saint or not. the world has decided that for him and he Has to do it. theres no choice there. otto and reinhard both have the legacy of their families behind them, but otto embraces it and reinhard is Forced into it. reinhard Suffers because of his familys legacy. meanwhile, the reason why otto manages to go on with his life as a mostly hopeful person is Because of his familys love!!

additionally, reinhard and otto grew up lonely. like reinhard only makes his first friend, julius, when reinhards fourteen. and ottos first Human friend is subaru, when ottos like twenty!! otto of course struggled to make human friends as a kid because he was behind in his social development and also accidentally did shit like Summon a whole Swarm of Insects into his town, so no duh otto didnt make human friends T^T for otto and reinhard its hard to make human connections when your dps make you So Different from the people around you!! how do you connect with others then? except ottos dp is in of itself About connection. his dp is entirely based on the ability to communicate—with animals, yes, but we see him make all kinds of animal friends throughout his life. again, frufoo’s his lifelong ground dragon companion, and otto often calls on the help of animals (who CHOOSE to help him). so otto wasnt Entirely lonely, especially when he had his family, hence why he very much did not turn out Super depressed as a teen and adult. reinhard of course was Very Lonely. on the other hand.

that, and i think it cant be denied that reinhard and ottos later connections to subaru are in some way Special to them. subaru was the one person who had no idea what the astreas and sword saints are and just saw reinhard For reinhard, which reinhard probably latches onto a bit, especially given the fact that reinhard just claims subaru as a best friend when the two havent even interacted that much in the main route? when you factor in reinhard if from lost in memories, subaru being special to reinhard gets clearer too—reinhard in that route just constantly comes to subarus aid EVEN IF subaru doesnt even call him. reinhard basically acts like a puppy eagerly following you and wagging its tail, and subaru is special because of his Particular attitude of being so Loud and Bold. which is also what draws otto to subaru!! otto specifically was captured by the witch cult and subarus decisions in main route lead to him being saved, and then later otto notes that from the moment hes met subaru, subaru acts like theyve always been close friends—which of course endears otto to subaru. to the point where otto RISKS HIS LIFE in sanctuary helping subaru and then he chooses to follow subaru into emilia camp. i think that the thing with reinsuba vs ottosuba is that reinhard wants friends and to be Equal and close to someone so badly, while otto was pretty decently content being a traveling merchant for years with just frufoo at his side. subaru, like many other people, looks Up to reinhard… but theyre not exactly equals because of reinhards status and power and reinhard is painfully aware of that. otto and subaru on the other hand are arguably the closest to being equals out of everyone, i think—in status and power levels and intellect and the roles they play in their camp. and by arc 5, reinhard is aware of otto of course being the emilia camps internal affairs minister and also being a close friend to subaru—and speaking of the reinhard-otto rarepair, i do think reinhard might even be a little bit jealous, if you really want to go that route. otto is a close friend and Equal to subaru. reinhard wants that so badly because no matter how much he registers his friends as his equals, his friends dont usually tend to see Him as an equal. and to otto, subaru is HIS closest friend!!

also speaking of arc 5. OTTO is the one that breaks up the hostage situation with felt and heinkel and reinhard. and because otto broke up that situation somehow, reinhard was able to finally join the fight in arc 5. theres an otto side story where felt and reinhard take the time to thank otto for this too, but like. can you imagine being otto and walking in on heinkel holding felt and reinhard hostage….. thatd be so incredibly awkward…… but anyway!! i think it is so horrible and funny in the context of reinhard-otto wkdndnd. otto is the one person who saw that shit happening and helped reinhard and felt out there hah.

but also speaking of arc 5. otto chooses to pick up roswaal’s burnt book of wisdom and otto decides to RESTORE it. otto bringing that damn book to priestella is also what helps draw the sin archbishops to the city??? and the reason why otto does this is because he doesnt trust roswaal and otto wants to restore the book just to read it and then destroy it so no one else gets to that info. and otto keeps the fact that he has the book secret for A WHOLE YEAR. otto has a habit of doing shit like this—doing things that HE thinks is best with barely any regard for anyone else—which reinhard cant afford to do. reinhards the sword saint and hes under the control of the kingdom and he Has to follow orders. meanwhile otto gets leeway because hes 1. very much a normal guy in comparison and 2. because hes “Normal”, hes hidden in the background both literally and Narratively and so he can just do shit like keep the book of wisdom just for his own reasons. Without As Much Personal Consequence. like reinhard does what he thinks is best too, but he cant afford to Not think of others bc his inherent power (and also family trauma…. and being brainwashed by the kingdom…) makes him painfully aware that the consequences of his actions are going to be significantly High if he fucks up. and quite frankly ottos morality is like. he has the morality of a chocolate eclair and im only half joking. well, more specifically, otto follows and treasures merchant ideals—which MAKES SENSE bc he Is a merchant from a merchant family—but he also denies knightly ideals. like with a Passion. otto doesnt see the point in living for ideals and then going out of your way to help others at a Detriment to yourself. like otto is very transactional that way—there has to be a benefit of some kind to him. if youre kind to him, he’ll repay you. if youre cruel, he’ll Also repay you in some way. and then on the other hand. you have reinhard. reinhard’s EVERYTHING is all about knightly ideals. he is THE pinnacle of knightly ideals. he HAS to try and save everyone even if its a detriment to himself and he doesnt even Register it as a detriment to himself because this is just his duty and his purpose. all this shit that otto does with the book of wisdom and then later otto’s Everything in arc 8 with how he supports the idea of just going back to lugunica and letting all 50 million Vollachian citizens figure their shit out by themselves—reinhard WOULD NOT agree. at all. otto chooses like the ten people he cares about the most and decides very pragmatically that everyone else is Less Important. and yeah of course reinhard has people he cares about More, but reinhard 1000% WILL go out of his way to help others. reinhard WILL try to help his family even though theyre shitty to him. meanwhile, if youre shitty to otto, hes either gonna say fuck you and leave (see: greed if) or hes gonna find a way to fight back against you. like unless hes held captive in some way with no hope of freedom (or if youre emilia camp and he Cares about you and knows you also care about him), hes not gonna take poor treatment without at least a Bit of a fight (and even if youre emilia camp, otto WILL complain the ENTIRE TIME and will not shut up <3). reinhard though? yeah emotionally hes gonna fold like a wet blanket the moment youre even Remotely mean to him.

You could feel her breath, hear her heartbeat and you saw a bead of sweat roll down her forehead. Neither took initiative to move forward or pull back not trusting each other’s intentions

“Eivor Wait! That’s my sister!” You heard Petra call out and you both pulled back the tension you shared falling flat to your siblings cries. She ran towards you and stopped few feet away bracing her hands on her knees breathing heavily

“Gods! I can't believe you got in trouble already” She mumbled worried and Eivor sheathed back her axe

“This is your family that was visiting?” She asked looking distressed

“Yes!” She yelled more so to cover up for her lack of oxygen than to scold anyone.

You stopped before walking up the stairs hoping she would notice you first. To your relief she did. You pushed some men around and made your way to the door finally leaving the suffocating building

You stopped right out the doors and took a second to catch your breath, the whole gathering spiking up your anxiety. What you had in craftsmanship you lacked in social skill. You tried to reason with yourself that you wanted to make a good impression and that you weren't sneaking out from embarrassment alone. Out of shame for letting anger so quickly get the better of you.

You saw a stack of bows and arrows lodged by the entrance, damp by the snow.It would have to do. You grabbed a set and began your short journey to the snow and stone covered entrance of the wolf cave. You were sure you heard the crunch of another pair of footsteps behind you. You turned to look. However, not wanting to risk the idea that they were after the same wolf you picked up your pace and reached the cave sliding first and looked around. It was eerily quiet, your pants disrupting the peace.

Trying your best to watch your step you climbed the walls trying to reach the other end of the path which would hopefully lead to a makeshift home by the animal.

You heard rumbling in the distance. Wet and filled with aggression. You were noticed.

You pulled an arrow and your bow in haste but were ultimately thrown to your front when you felt four pairs of heavy joints push at your back.

Knocking it off balance wasn’t as easy and your thoughts were starting to get cloudy from the grim realization that you might die after all. You tasted copper and the stuffiness of your nose clearly indicated you were bleeding.

i want a game thats kind of, mostly like acnh with all its customization and yes the fact you can keep the villagers hostage bc im evil like that. but with all the charm and coziness that acnl seems to have. listening to the music from that game or looking at screenshots from the game, i get this overwhelming cozy feeling of both like, a warm summer night and a festive winter day. i never got to play it bc i was still tiny when it came out and then when i got interested in ac they stopped selling acnl, also i have no clue how to use an emulator lol.

for some reason it reminds me of like, falling asleep mid-day while reading and laying in the sun. or like, going out for a walk while its raining and seeing all the worms start to come out of the dirt. or just going about your day completely normal until you see 1 little thing and youre suddenly transported back into childhood as nostalgia washes over you. it feels like buying yourself a little snack after work, or like making dinner using vegetables you grew yourself. like home brewed coffee. nl tastes mostly sweet but with a bit of bitterness and saltiness. nl would taste like toast with jam on it.

of course, thats just a romanticized version of it but comparing that with the real experience i have with acnh is just kind of... i know acnh seems to be the most hated game at the moment but honestly sometimes it feels like chore. some days i dont even talk to my villagers and just go straight to the dlc. the flowers multiply too fast and its really bothering if you only want a certain flower color or they spread so much theres not enough room to place things. i use my house as more of a storage unit than something to decorate. it feels... inorganic, far too sanitized (and thats coming from a germaphobe). if i were to compare how thinking of it right now makes me feel and compare that to how just looking at acnl makes me feel its like...

having a job thats technically easy but draining, and then after a long day you see a motivational poster as you leave. feels like throwing your old clothes in the trash instead of the thrift store. its like those shitty 5 minute crafts with the incomprehensible script. its like a starbucks or dunkin donuts, its not bad tasting but you would only get it on your way to work, you wouldnt sit down at the coffee shop and eat there. it feels like having to pay $4 for 2 tomatoes. so... it just feels corporate and clean. not hating if youre all about that acnh capitalism life!!! it just doesnt feel right. animal crossing is supposed to be like, THE cozy game but nh does not feel cozy.

So this is writing itself, I pictured this as a Sequel to the Chip and Dale Movie,

Synopsis: When the Kids of Disney Characters start going missing, it's up to Chip and Dale to uncover a past to the Disney Company long forgotten.

Scene: Takes Place in Chips office at the Detective Agency after Maxwells Kidnapping.

"Oh geez, please not this old feud," Chip muttered, rubbing his temples, making Dale look at him in questioning, the other handing the folder over

He scratched his head,

"This just says Roxanne said it was a black and white toon, short in stature that kidnapped Max, not much to go on, sure Black and white toons are rare, but theres plenty of them already made."

Chip took it back,

"Not if you don't know the Disney Companies History, Mr Disney's history." 

Dale looked confused, cocking his head,

"You've lost me, Disney never had bad blood or history,"

Chip opened a filing cabinet, putting the folder away before sorting through it, pulling out another thicker folder blowing the dust off before setting it heavily on the desk,

"You and I weren't active when He came Home. I just knew because I still hung around Goofy, a certain Michael Mouse was apparently very interested in getting him back into our fold," Flipping it open to show a Rabbit beaming at them standing next to Walt " Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is special in comparison to the rest of us. He was Walt's first Mascot, before Mickey," 

Dale gasped, sitting up with a grin, leaning on the desk

"Ohhh this tea is piping, so Mr Disney left him behind?" 

The glare from his brother shut him up,

"You know he never did that to any of us,"

"Youth makes fools out of us all," Dale shrugged, making Chip sigh. He couldn't fight that,

"No, he didn't, in 1923 Walt created Oswald with Ub Iwerks" Dale whistled as the other continued " After a few shorts, Disney wanted better pay but the problem being is the contract would give over all rights of Oswald to the Warner company….he loved the Rabbit that was his Son so of course he rejected this,"

Chip slid a photo over showing a black and white photo of Walt leaned over an animation table Oswald on the man's shoulder the man held a small smile his hand on the rabbits head in a fond way the toon laughing,

"So Oswald is Mickeys older brother?" The other chipmunk nodded as Dale looked up."What happened?" 

Chips paw fisted, anger crossed his muzzle,

"Mintz, he forged Walt's Signature, and suddenly Oswald was Universal Warners property,"

Dale stood up fast, looking beyond shocked,

"No! That's so backhanded what a b-"

"I know," his brother interrupted, "But Oswald was the victim alongside Walt. He and Ub would leave with a few others, but tucked safely in his briefcase was the sketches of the toon that would become Mickey Mouse,"

Dale slumped back into the chair, slowly saying

"So without Oswald being kidnapped....Mickey wouldn't exist?"

The other trailed a paw over the folder but nodded,

"Crazy I know. But yes, without Oswalds kidnapping, our boss and his baby brother wouldn't exist,"

"No wonder Mickey wanted Oswald back,"

Ok first I started watching an anime called simoun which is about these “priestesses” (aka war pilots) who are fighting against people who are trying to invade their country, and their aircraft (which are called simoun hense the name of the anime) is believed to be holy because they’re motors were dug up from the earth and no one really knows how the work and they’re super strong.

World building: everyone is born female and this lady (who I can’t remember the name of but is basically god) decreed that half the population must be male and half must be female (I’m not so sure they care about the exact percentage I doubt it’ll come up again), so everyone at age 17 must go to this lake where she lives and choose which gender they will be (I haven’t gotten that far but I’ve been told that other countries have to go through surgeries because they don’t have access to the lake so yeah). But there is an exception for priestesses who don’t have to choose until the decide to stop fighting in the war. So we’re primarily focusing on a queer cast that doesn’t what to be permanently a man or woman.

And in like episode three or something one of the priestesses decides to leave (possibly because of one of their comrades dying) and says something along the lines of I know I’m supposed to the male of female but what if I think both (ergo the lady in the lake chooses instead) and when they leave the lake he tells his friend that it will take time for their body to change and that basically nothing has changed and then they drop to their knees and screamed and it was devastating. If I was good at technology I would record a clip and post it here but then I’d also need the wherewithal to deal with terfs if it broke containment because I know some people would ignore that it’s about forcing queer people into a gender binary (which from my understanding is what this whole show is kind of about. I had to download it from someone because it’s not available anywhere)

okay that sounds AMAZING, the war machines that are otherworldly reminds me of Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao (which was inspired by a diffent anime, but it is about mecha war machines piloted by boy/girl pairs, a male pilot, and a female concubine, and its dark as fuck, like Zetian becomes a concubine to avenge her sister who was killed by her pilot outside of battle so her (extremely poor) family didnt get compensation for her death. its a fucking amazing book, Zetian gets a reformed (ish) murderer boyfriend AND a twink scholar boyfriend, AND its full triangle poly, and Yizhi and Shimin are ADORABLE together and theres this scene where they are cooking and Yizhi and Shimin kiss and Zetian is just sitting in her wheelchair in the doorway like "🫵 cute boyfriends 🥰" i make it seem like a cute poly romance.... its NOT, its very much a killing people who cross you war book with a side of romance, and an A plot of overthrowing the corrupt government and making yourself the dictator.

Honestly why does Hades even have like 7 dogs?? Why do we almost never see Cerberus, you know the Actual hell hound of Hades who guards the underworld? (Where's Charon, the Stygian boatman? I guess because the gods have cars and can fly theres no need for souls to cross the river styx anymore?)

But back to the dogs. Hades even mentioned at one point his therapist telling him to stop getting dogs and he blatantly ignores his therapists advice. So he has zero self control and even in telling Persephone no, still often gives into her demands, which isnt healthy either.

Also Hades' personality is a bit strange. Hes simultaneously really mean and callous to his employees yet gift giving is his love language (which I guess is supposed to paint him as sympathetic?). He loves his dogs and despite being a king he can't put his foot down and actually assert some boundaries in a relationship and is seen as a pushover and a victim of Minthe... Despite having control of all her finances and job.

And then we have Persephone "cinnamon roll" goddess whos supposed to be super nice yet a lot of her personality traits kinda contradict? She's also mean and callous to people who she think has wronged her (Tori). Doesn't know how to take no for an answer. Is somehow naive as all hell (doesn't know internships aren't paid) yet is supposed to be super smart and have a buncha wisdom which is counteracted by her growing up in a secluded area and apparently this makes her a good fit for being a queen. Is a vegetarian and is supposedly down to earth village girl yet loves all the expensive gifts Hades presents her with. Etc. I'm probably wording this badly so apologies.

Also, with one of your other posts, yeah why is hades portrayed as sad and lonely in the underworld when he has a team of people and a support network? (Hecate, thanatos techncially, Minthe etc?) Then it just seems like RS is trying to go for "Hades technically has everything but hes still sad and tragic cause he doesn't have a waifu".

Again, sorry this rant got wayy off track. There's just a lotta weird contradictory things in LO character wise and setting wise (having a monarchy yet Apollo is running for president for ex).

It’s completely fine! I enjoy reading the opinions of others since it gives me insight and helps me realize/understand things better and you worded everything fine, I understood everything. But you’re right there’s a lot of things that are missing with LO that connects to greek mythology, like yes I know it’s a retelling but there shouldn’t be so many elements taken from the original that it’s completely unrecognizable? I’ve seen this from a lot of people who talk about how Americanized Lore Olympus is and I can’t help but agree, there’s no greek traditions or clothing. Barely any greek phrases or any signature dishes, nothing connects Lore Olympus back to Greece even though it’s their myths and I think it’s a huge letdown. Being modernized doesn’t equal to Americanized, there should at least be some sort of connection even if it’s small you know? I feel like it’s not exactly my place to go into too much detail but that’s just been on my mind for a while and I’ve noticed it a lot lately.

I’m guessing Rachel just thought that Hades was a huge dog person since Cerberus was always with him in the myths? I’m not sure. But it’s insane that she included so many dogs yet only showcases about four in total. Me personally I would’ve liked to see Hades get emotional support dogs or something, then we can take a dive in his other traumas besides Kronos, because that seems to be the only terrible thing that’s happened to him. The emotional support animals could’ve also helped him with his emotions and helped regulate them better so he wouldn’t be lashing out on everyone, it would also be good representation about the importance of emotional support animals and the seriousness around them. There’s a bunch of people who still think they’re regular dogs and the people having them are just using them as “an excuse”, this could’ve easily showed people more about them and educated them more in my opinion.

And Hades’ personality is very weird, he alternates from different personalities every few chapters and also even every few panels. You see him wanting to be understood by his peers and not wanting to be a tyrant like his father, then you cut to him being an absolute madman and causing chaos to those beneath him. He doesn’t want to include Persephone in his life because he has too much baggage but then you cut to him trauma dumping on her when she was telling him about her own. You see him not wanting attention or to make things about himself and then cut to every single conversation he’s engaged being transformed about him by him. Then lastly, he says how it’s terrible for Persephone to be lied to/it’s disgusting to cheat, then you cut to him keeping information from her and cheating with his sister in law (in this comic). There’s so many contradictions with him that you never really know who he truly is and it’s irritating trying to play the guessing game with him. Is he mean and cruel or sad and lonely? Which is it?

Same is said with Persephone, nothing about her character makes any sense. How is she going to dumb as rock one scene and then oh so smart in the next? I’m so caring and I care about not hurting Minthe’s feelings and then play house with her boyfriend knowing that they’re with each other? Feel guilty about breaking them apart but continue to go after him? It’s really stupid. And then she claims that she enjoys him because he’s nice to her yet everyone else that is nice to her doesn’t get half of her attention like Hades does, she doesn’t do anything nice for any of her friends or family or even coworkers only for Hades. Not only that but we’re supposed to believe she doesn’t use him even though whenever they’re together Hades is giving her all types of gifts, many of which she’s never offered back even with her money, and taking her places/making her feel better and such. We never see Persephone putting in any effort to do the same yet she’s not using him? Funny story.

Their whole relationship is one sided on both ends and it’s insane how people think it’s romantic, a relationship is between two people one person should not be doing all of the work while the other one lounges around and allows the other to bend over backwards for them. It’s very sad that Persephone not respecting Hades’ boundaries is fine when it’s Persephone but if Hades did the same thing (which I know he has but I mean actually clearly, like intentional and not having the comic tell you otherwise) it would be terrible. I do feel bad for Hades being taken advantage of like this, he’s just too up Persephone’s ass to even realize it.

someone broke into my apartment. I havent been on because the only thing i have that i can access the internet on is my work computer ( i can get into trouble for using even spotify on that) and my switch ( just got it last monday. in another situation id be ecstatic about getting a new game system, but right now im just glad i didnt leave it out in the open)

small town does not equal no crime. After the (insert wherever the power comes from) was fixed, it has some issues and shut down again a few days later. idk why. My rm and i decided to walk to the gas station for lunch, they had power, music, cold drinks and food, and bathrooms that have functioning lights. Our landlord said it would only be a few hours, so we used our backup battery packs ( yes the ones we’re only supposed to use for work or incase of emergency) to power a fan and opened a window (the little net thing closed) for the cats and left.

because we were only going to be away for an hour, i left my phone (by accident) and tablet on the couch. in plain view of the window.

well, we have a lot of college students who walk directly by out porch ( i even had a girl threaten to call the cops on me for smoking… on my own fuckin porch) and two other girls who decided it was public chatting place and were upset that interupted them wheni asked them to leave.)

we dont know if it was a college student, or someone else, called the cops and got it all sorted there wasnt much they could do ( figures)

they came in through the window, and we think they either left it open, or that Patches, one of my cats, got out when the opened it, because she was gone when we came home, and she liked to hang out by the window. Thankfully, miso hates going outside, and katsu is scared of everyone and hides when people come over. we still havent found patches. im not worried about her, she didnt really like us, she isnt declawed, and she was orginally an outdoor cat anyways. we left out food and water and liter for her, but if she comes back she comes back. ive lost enough animals not fret over it. (tbh if it was on of the other two id probably sob)

but whoever broke in stole a bunch of my game stuff. we dont think they even went into out bedrooms, cause nothing was out of place. it took me realizing some of out stuff, the cat and the askew window (what the fuck is that thing called??) to realize we’d been robbed. ( well me actually, my roomate keeps all his stuff in his room which is fair because other than HBO i pay for all the streaming services, and i (thankfully still have) 4 consoles, which wont fit in my tiny ass room.)

they took my phone and tablet. (not worried about the phone, it was some dinky burner phone) a package off our porch ( it was mario kart, i got a switch like last monday, and the only game i have is animal crossing. very fun. thankfully, id left it on my desk.) they also took a few of my games, thankfully i have duplicates of most of the ones they took and digital copies.

ironically, the version of TLOU and FO4 (i have 4 copies of fo4 including the digital copy) were the scratched up versions, they did take my copy of infamous for the ps3. and they also took my unopened copy of RDR2. so like, pricey items but the only thing im upset about are my tablet and my cat.

for those wanting the drawings i promised, i will still get them to you, thankfully i had a warranty on it and its getting replaced after the police finish whatever it is they say they do. ( doubtful) so it may take a hot minute.

however it also means i have to completely restart my issue 2 of my comic, as i hadn't saved the final pages and the wips anywhere other than my phone and tablet. personally, im frustrated, but it gives me a chance to change a few wee details and try out a style ive been thinking on.

so im probably not going to be super super active for the next few (idk how long, im sorry) but i will draw what i said i would.

As for patches, i told my mom if she comes back pregnant ( again -_-) that we are going to yeet her into a rocket to live with the martians, and get a new cat. (or if she doesnt come back. we work best with a three cat ratio) if its boy we are probably going to name him garbanzo. (this is mostly a joke, but she was intended to be temporary as a friend of mine couldnt keep her anymore and we had been looking for a home for her. surprisingly, nobody wanted a super chill calico who enjoyed nothing but food and sitting directly on your trachea.)

anyways, im tired. ill be patiently waiting for my new tablet and trying to make my ACNH island as destroyed and apocalyptic as possible.
